Concert atmosphere at homeThe DT 880 Edition sounds very neutral and relaxed. The bass reproduction penetrates very deeply, but is not overstated. This feature is particularly appealing to lovers of jazz and classical music because it gives the headphones a really transparent sound and makes the individual components of the music clearly audible. Thanks to its semi-open design, the DT 880 Edition allows some ambient noise to penetrate and escape, but attenuates it somewhat stronger than in the case of a fully open headphone such as the DT 990 Edition. | Excellent wearing comfortThe DT 880 Edition is very light for its size and ensures a pleasant fit thanks to its carefully selected materials. The ear pads are known for their breathable and skin-friendly velour, enabling the listener to enjoy music for hours without any excessive build-up of heat. The combination of comfortable headband and ear pads as well as the yokes made from aluminium lend the headphones a stable exterior and a pleasant fit for long listening sessions. | Difference compared to DT 880 PRO versionThe DT 880 Edition headset for use at home and the DT 880 PRO studio headset: both are identical when it comes to sound. Identically designed acoustic transducers are used. However, the Edition models have a somewhat softer headband for enjoying music at home while the PRO headset has a slightly tighter fit on the head so that it doesn’t move even in case of faster movements in everyday studio use. Moreover, the PRO version is supplied with a coiled cable and the Edition version with a straight cable. | Three variants for different playback devicesThe current 600-ohm version is suitable for HiFi systems with especially powerful headphone outputs or for use with special headphone amplifiers. The 32 ohm version is recommended for versatile use including on mobile devices such as tablets or smartphones. The 250 ohm version of the DT 880 Edition was developed for use at home on a stereo system. |

mmn Super Qualitt / Klang (hatte bisher keine Kopfhrer).
I was looking for a good set of headphones to replace my out dated astro a40 and desided on these and they don’t disappoint the 880s give you that happy middle ground between the open back 770s and the closed back 990s I’m far from an audiophile but the sound om theses is great you get nice bass clear trebble with just a little bleed through from background noise from within your room so perfect if your looking to run a mod mic off it to witch mounts perfectly to the 880 badge on eather side of the headphones normally I write a few cons but coneing from Astros to this I’m afraid I don’t have any out side needing an amp/dac to power them but if your looking at these I’m sure your already aware of tha
The sound is very neutral with a slight bit noticeable “sharpness” in the higher frequencies.
The headband and frame are comfortable and sturdy, the headband cushion might not be soft and thick enough for some but for me its not noticeable enough to complain, the clamp is tight enough for the headphones to not just fall off, the earpads are hard and soft at the same time and i barely notice it on my head after hours of wearing it.
It’s interesting to try listen to different sounds and music with these, as the open back/semi open back design makes everything sound more natural than a closed back design would, the out of the box sound is clear and bright but i have come to enjoy them more with my own equalization (screenshots of my FxSound profiles) which gives everything more presence, closeness and fullness or so i would describe it.
I would recommend to play with equalizers to get the most out of any headphones or at the very least see the difference between eq profiles in different sound categories.
The frame and clamp with its minimal amount of plastic has surprisingly enough withstood my abuse by wearing it in bed with my head pushing it against the pillow which i can’t say about my previous pair that had the plastic break on one side. The cable has been rolled over a bunch of times with my chair and is still fully intact.
If you’re used to closed back headphones, with their tight/small sound stages and intense close bass, then you might miss some of that with open back. In terms of fps gaming I can’t say for sure which is better.
I would recommend these if you want to experience some true to source, natural and open sound.
I tried several pairs of headphones before settling on these. After a year of daily use I’m more than satisfied. Zoom, Discord, watching movies, music etc. They are only ones so far I can wear all day long. Snug enough to not fall off from moving around but they don’t clamp down and cause discomfort and pain. This was a big deal for me.
I probably need to replace the ear cups but no complaints otherwise. I have the 250 ohm version and use them with the Sound BlasterX G6.
These don’t have noise cancelling. But semi-open/open back headphones aren’t meant to so while I gave 1 star for noise cancelling, it has no impact on my overall rating.
I also chose the premium model instead of dt880 pro because it has a straight cable instead of the coiled one and I’m glad I did cause it would have gotten in the way. I was concerned about the cable eventually coming loose where it connects to the headphones but its just as snug as the day I opened the box. A very good sign a year in because many other brands don’t make it this long and worn out cables are frequently the cause of replacing wired headphones.
This is a great product. There is nothing else to say.
Excellent product overall, I got myself the 32 ohm version for use with my laptop and ps4 expecting the setup to be hassle-free, but I was proven wrong.
The sound produced without an amp or dac was unusable and had me questioning if I had bought a higher impedance headphone but I had the right one, the 32 ohm version.
After I bought a dac/amp there were no problems.
(shown with optional Dekoni earpads available here on Amazon). I have about two hours use in on these, but am very happy with the fit, comfort and sound quality. I bought the DT880 premiums because of the 80 ohm/lower/suitable for use with iPods resistance level vs. 250 or 600. So far, they’re working very well for those applications — and for use with high end music keyboards and in the recording studio as well.
I’m hearing full bass response and great separation of instruments/vocals in the midrange as well. High end is also good. These are right up there with my high end AKG and Grado headphones, and I’m very happy with the purchase.
I have the beyerdynamic dt 770, 990 and 880… These have great bass and high are not too harsh like 990s. Extremely comfy. I use a marantz amp for listening… Not for phone use. Combined 770+990 for the best ones 880
Spent some time deciding between these and the 990s but ultimately decided on these.
Use them for gaming as they are open back and have a nice wide soundstage.
Sound brilliant, great value for money and extremely comfortable!
Bauchentscheidung – muss jeder selbst mache
Very warm and true sound reproduction for mixing and mastering in my home studio. Other headphones I have tried give me “ear fatigue” after a while. I can use the DT 880’s for ages and not get my ears hearing everything sounding the same and being fatigued. Of course you still need your speaker monitors to fine tune the bass, but I spend 90% of my time listening with these great headphones. I recommend the DT 880’s as the best phones for the money.
I am not much of a headphone person – I always prefer speakers, but I can’t listen to them during the day when working from home as I have my significant other working from home as well. I have a bunch of budget headphones including HE4XX, 58x Jubilee, and the DT 770 80ohm. I bought a xDuoo TA-26 to use as a preamp for speaker system, but it was just OK for that purpose and I kept reading how high impedance cans sound good with the TA-26. So this amp drove my curiosity to try out the 880 600 ohm as a budget choice.
Before getting the DT 880 600ohm, I actually first got the DT 990 600ohm because I read how the bass in the DT 880 would be lacking. However, I could not stand the brightness of the DT 990 and returned it immediately. It was simply too much even though I use a Denafrips Ares II for a DAC (smoother sounding R2R), and upgraded smoother tubes on the TA-26 (ShuGuang CV181-Z, Soviet 6N5S).
Comparing the DT 880 600 ohm to my DT 770 80 ohm, the flatter response of the DT 880 ohm immediately becomes apparent. DT 770 sounds somewhat boomy in comparison, though I suspect that is exactly what some might be looking for esp. movie watching. It took a few songs for me to get used to the DT 880, but soon I began to prefer it over the DT 770.
DT 880 is definitely more for audiophiles wanting a balanced sound – I am used to the balanced sound on my speakers as I use DIRAC Live with its linear gradual slope target curve and this headphone is the closest to that sound profile. Bass is very much there in spades if the music itself has it, but does not artificially add to it (which feels “boomy” to me). The result of this flatter response is that the bass doesn’t overwhelm the music and so you are able to appreciate the details across the entire frequency range. While flatter, it is in no way dull and definitely on the energetic side likely due to its mildly pronounced treble.
My only criticism of the DT 880 is that it has some of the brightness of the DT 990 600 ohm. Even if it is considerably toned down compared to the 990, it can get to be a bit much for harsh recordings or long listening sessions.
TA-26 was able to drive the DT 880 600 ohm to sufficient volume levels. Any louder and hearing is likely to get damaged for long sessions. Where the DT 770 80 ohm presented itself with a noisy hum coming out of TA-26, the DT 800 600 ohm presented it only faintly. I suspect the difference in impedance is likely causing the difference. I have found that it was best to max out the volume on the TA-26 and use my source to control gain, rather than the other way around as I was hearing significant distortion suggesting that the headphones wasn’t getting sufficient power.
I never took a liking to the 58x; always sounded a bit dull for my taste. Maybe Sennheisers are not for me. The HE4XX were used mostly for electronic music or watching non-music content. I use it with a xDuoo MT-602, but I expect to shift to the DT 880 for all music going forward. The DT 880 also sounds more full bodied and its brightness tamed a bit with the TA-26 compared to the MT-602. The TA-26/DT 880 600ohm pairing along with a semi-decent dac (a used Sanskrit 10th MK II at the cheap end) is the one to get if looking for a full package.
So in summary:
Bass: 770 80 ohm > 990 600 ohm > 880 600 ohm
Brightness: 990 600 ohm (harsh) > 880 600 ohm > 770 80 ohm
Updates:
1. I tried using the Brainwavzaudio sheepskin memory foam earpads and while it tamed the brightness of the headphone, it made it very dark sounding. Be very careful choosing aftermarket earpads with the DT 880 because of its very delicate and revealing nature.
2. I tried ASR’s EQ suggestions using Equalizer APO and they sound even better with the harshness tamed. Here is the Equalizer APO config file if anyone is interested.
Preamp: -4.3 dB
Filter 1: ON LS Fc 60 Hz Gain 4.0 dB Q 1.0
Filter 2: ON PK Fc 210 Hz Gain -2.0 dB Q 2.0
Filter 3: ON PK Fc 4300 Hz Gain 4.0 dB Q 4.0
Filter 4: ON PK Fc 5700 Hz Gain -6.0 dB Q 5.0
Filter 5: ON PK Fc 8300 Hz Gain -7.0 dB Q 5.0
3. The longer I have been using the DT880-600 with the TA-26, the more I have become aware of it its very good imaging capabilities. I also now have the CSS Audio 1TDX speakers which have similarly spectacular imaging and glad to have the DT880 when I can’t listen on the 1TDX. However, the sound staging of speakers remains unmatched (“front of you, behind the speakers” vs. “in your head, slightly above like a voice/stage of god?”), and the room pressurization by the subwoofer in the speaker system feels more visceral than headphones. Because of this, the DT880-600 will always remain my 2nd preference, to be used when I can’t use speakers.
Alles richtig gemacht. Chapeau Beyerdynamic!!!
Wer einen hochwertigen linearen Kopfhrer frs Mixing & Mastering will, macht hier nichts falsch.
Not for a bass junkie. However, the quality of the sound is excellent and natural.
This headphones are excelent, the only thing that doesn’t have is noise cancelation. So if you don’t have a good sound proofe room and you want to record something you will hear everything from outside. Otherwise a good product.
Egal was man liest.
Entlarft schlechte Quellen gnadenlos. Wrde ihn wieder kaufen.
Yep Excellent product. Came to them after reading many reviews and prior top these being a wireless headset user. The cable part took a little getting used to but now now issues, very good comfort and sound.
I ordered a used pair of 600ohm Beyerdynamic DT880 from Amazon. On arrival the condition was faultless. They arrived in original packaging together with the vinyl storage case.
I was a little concerned the higher impedance cans might be too quiet on my Pioneer A10 amplifier, but I needn’t of worried. The amp drives the Beyers just fine.
I’m really happy with the sound produced, and it’s a big upgrade from my old Marantz mph-1 headphones. It’s a cliche, but I am hearing new detail in old musical favourites. My first listen being to Shostakovich’s Leningrad symphony. It was mesmeric. The DT880s are well worth the money, and are great value for money.
Update: Still happy with them a few weeks on, now matched with Cambridge Audio system. Constantly smiling along to old musical favourites.
Recommend for Podcast, Music: ( Rock, Hip-Hop and maybe dance. Not for House ) Gaming very good
Ottime cuffie, suono armonioso, equilibrato, pieno e preciso.
These are the headphones that have always remained in my collection although I have / had cans 20x the price. They trade blows with anything in the 1k price range, they’re that good, BUT they need a lot of voltage to sing, it doesn’t matter if the amp can make them go loud, that’s not the point, make sure you have something with a lot of muscle to power these (Violectric, iFi) and they’ll amaze you.
These are neutral / bright, good bass – a bit on the lean side, excellent sound stage, amazing highs with a lot of detail. They have this organic quality about them and they deliver a sound that’s comparable to STAX electrostatic sets that are 6 times the price and that says a lot.
Gave them 4 stars at comfort because on my head they create a pressure spot that gets a bit tender but only about a couple of hours of wear.
hese are really great for gaming critical listening and music mastering. I honestly mostly use these for critical music listening and gaming. The only bad thing is that you need to pay an extra $99+ more to get a good amp, I recommend getting an amp and a dac but if you don’t care about the dac then get an amp. I paid the extra it was worth it for music but not gaming.
Ok so first things first. My chain: MacBook Air running iTunes (mp3s @ 320 or Apple Lossless) > Dragonfly Black > DT880. I keep the iTunes open full blast and use the MacBook’s output volume control to tame the signal. No EQ. Mostly rock and metal. Plenty of juice for the 250 ohm version.
Impressions: as many reviewers have noted, these cans definitely lean toward the highs, but not obnoxiously so. I don’t find them shrill or painful. I can say that at higher volumes the cymbal work can get a little aggressive but at normal listening volumes it’s fine. I imagine if I was listening loud to some early ’60s Miles or something I could see that trumpet getting a bit piercing but it usually does anyway, to my ears. For my needs the balance is great, and reveals a lot of the detail and immediacy in guitars, vocals and keys. So maybe “insistent” is the word I’d use to describe how these phones handle higher frequencies.
Now, the bass. I find it warm and full and balanced. It’s definitely not booming, and does give a little ground to the mids and highs, but it’s right there as a solid foundation when it counts. I like it for what I play. These are probably not the cans you want for dub or hip-hop or whatever.
I would describe the overall sound as warm, detailed, and transparent. These work for me, on my setup, and I’m thrilled with them. And they are really super-comfy for those long sessions working from home. Highly recommended.
I’m not much of an audiophile, but I can hear the difference especially when listening to classical music, it’s really good. However, if you’re wearing it for long durations, 5-7 hours, I can feel slight pressure pain from where the headphones rests atop my head. Maybe I need to wear them in some more, but as for now it can be semi discomforting.
The sound quality is amazing. Better than any gaming headphone. It is also very comfortable, I have worn these for as much as 8 hours at a time, and my head has never felt uncomfortable
Let me describe the sound/soundstage.
You are in a 25′ x 25′ room or recording studio. You are three feet in front of the singer and his/her mic. The rest of the band is arrayed around you, including behind you. The music comes to you in a holographic bubble around your head. That’s what people mean when they describe such headphones as ‘intimate’.
The sound is neither bass muddy, nor overly bright. It is just right. It is ‘real’ sounding, with weight and clarity.
The placement of instruments is very exact, good imaging.
These are one of my favorite headphones, along with the DT 1990’s (which I use strictly for orchestral music).
You will get the best out of these if you have a good headphone amplifier. (I use the Lake People G111 discrete circuit amp and it drives them very well, with great dynamics.) You would probably want an amp that generates greater than 100 milliwatts continuous into 600 ohms as a base, even greater to capture the music’s swings in volume/energy.
These headphones are magnificent and offer everything I could have ever wanted after my THX00 Ebony’s broke. They’ve been a great replacement with an even better and tighter bass. I feel like this will please most ears as there’s such a huge amount of detail that you can hear a pin drop. I do mean this literally, you may end up hearing some funny mistakes made while recording in the studio that you would have never been able to hear before.
However to achieve this quality, you need a fairly powerful amp. I’m enjoying this a lot with my M9XX DAC/AMP, so my listening experience is based on usage with that.
If you love bass (but not just bass) you’ll love these headphones.
I am somewhat of a headphone buff and have had: Sennheiser 600, Superex Electrostat, various Sony phones, Philips SR 9500, Philips X2HR Fidelio, Grado 325, and Hifiman Sundara, among others. The Beyerdynamic DT 880 Premium 32 ohm are my latest acquisition. I initially purchased the DT 880 250 ohm but had to send them back as they just weren’t loud enough playing through my Audioquest Cobalt DAC/headphone amp and my laptop playing Amazon Ultra HD streaming. I then ordered the 32 ohm, but received a nice letter from Beyerdynamic customer service saying that it would be a few weeks before the factory could make more of this model. I’m glad that I waited, as I just received them them and Voila, they sound great! The phones are very high quality build and seem light and comfortable in my initial listening session. They are the smoothest sounding headphones that I have ever had. The bass is especially nice with a pleasant full accurate sound, not at all boomy. When listening to an orchestral bass drum I could feel the drum head vibrating in my left ear! There also seemed to be a lot of “space” between the instruments, no sibilance on the vocals and no harshness in the upper end. All in all, they are a joy to listen to, and are currently my favorite phones after the first listen! I guess that there is a reason that these phones have been around for a number of years. This is my first experience with Beyerdynamic, and I am giving them an A+. Give them a listen and see if you agree.
I purchased the Sennheiser HD599 soon after the DT 880 so can offer a personal comparison.
Build: Both excellent but the 880s feel a more expensive product despite being less money. The 599s do have a removable lead though which is useful.
Comfort: the 880s come out top here. I don’t think I’ve ever had a more comfortable set of cans
Sound quality: both are breathtaking. The clarity and precision is amazing. The 880s would suit monitoring purposes better. They are so neutral. For music I prefer the 599s. Bass presence is better, and a slightly more musical presentation.
But in summary, I’m keeping both 🙂
I bought these headphones as an upgrade to my closed back ixos 32 ohms headphones. After reading reviews I decided to go for the in between 250ohm version of the dt880’s, reviews also suggested these are more linear in their response than the dt770 and dt990 models which I believe have more pronounced bass and treble. Delighted with the quality of the headphones from a well respected manufacturer. It is difficult to recommend headphones as there are so many variables involved but I am happy with them – they give me enough balance and detail and more importantly they don’t sound fatiguing during long listening sessions. Comfort wise this version has less clamping force than the pro’s and are reasonably comfortable, I’m not a big fan of the velour material used in the pads and find it can become irritating and sweaty after a while but not too bad. The 250ohms are a good compromise between easier driving and better dynamics – they will work with iPhones but sound better through a good, reasonably powerful headphone amp. They work fine with the Zen Can and also the Ifi BL nano. The nano isn’t as loud with these headphone but still nice. These headphones have been around in some shape or form for ages, so are well proven so reliability shouldn’t be a problem. Probably not one for bass heads but bass is there at just the right level for me, it doesn’t dominate but still gets the feet tapping.
Only other headphones I can compare these to are Bose QC 35 II and they beat them on comfort and sound. My gaming PC could drive them laud enough for me. The sound is marginally better with a DAC and an AMP (SMSL SU9 and SH9 combo) but I could play them louder if I wanted to (I don’t).
These headphone are just so comfy and light, the sound quality is exceptional with full rich responsive bass and crisp hi range audio and everything between is just there and more. Made the switch from hi fidelity gaming headphones and the difference is night and day, I didn’t know what my ears were missing.
I have only one little thing that caused a bump in the road, for every day use by a non professional it will require a Amp, I bought the 250 ohm DT880’s and my PC was unable to drive them effectively (Paired mine with Fiio K5 Pro DAC/Amp which is too loud for me @75% volume on high gain) .
I highly recommend these as a great set of starter headphones if you require an accurate recreation of sound.
I use these for tracking guitar parts and mixing at home. They’ve a wonderfully balanced sound and very comfortable. For the price, I’d highly recommend. You can pay more and get more, but these are a fantastic pair of headphones.
Perfect for mixing and mastering
I use my audio technical as my day to day recording vocals and reference mix
But when it’s time to get busy on mixing and mastering these are my go to.
hier meine subjektiven Erfahrungen:
First of all I don’t like the fact that the package it came in was fine but the box for the headphones themselves was clearly crushed or dented. This worried me as a customer so I’ll be replacing them with a new pair as I don’t want potential problems to arise later down the line. Moving on, these sound fantastic ( though they are quite demanding. I run a schiit magni 3 amp and it seems to work fine for my needs but I MUST stress this, you need a reallllllllyyy good amp to appreciate all that these headphones have to offer; a really powerful one at that, too.) the imaging is quite good and the separation of individual instruments and sounds is on another level compared to anything I’ve heard before. Coupled with an amazing stereo experience the sound profile creates an amazing immersive experience when listening to well orchestrated/mastered tracks. One thing to note though is the high end can be a bit irritating at first if you’re a bit sensitive like me; rest assured breaking them in apparently helps but I’ve got no time to do that. It’s not terribly harsh, though. Comfort is another thing my head is quite bit and my ears are on the bigger side. The headband sometimes can cause an annoying pressure point pain on the top of my head which can get fixed with a simple reshuffle. My ears touch the inside of the earcups but it’s not a great annoyance and you can get used to it or shift your headphones around until they are positioned in the least contacting way.
Closing thoughts, the sound is amazing and not overwhelming like some pairs can be. The separation of audio plus high impedance is so nice that it lets me listen at a higher volume without it being tiring and unpleasant. Top performer in the price range. Next step up would be the dt1990.
Driving these 600ohm DT880s with SPL Auditor – 120V Rail Headphone Amplifier fed from a tubed Behringer DEQ2496. The cleanest and most engaging representation of recorded music in my experience and by far the most comfortable headphones. I’m talking 4 hour listening sessions here. Also never heard cymbals that sound like cymbals on anything else than a STAX before. And was surprised to find out they sound better than anything i’ve tried directly from the headphone out on my laptop too! 5 stars on all fronts!
I also have a pair of Sennheiser HD599SE headphones (50 ohms). Similarly priced. I wanted a set of high impedance headphones because the volume is too loud for normal headphones when connected to an Audiolab 8000A amplifier. The DT 880 headphones are a better match to the amp’s headphone socket and are significantly quieter than the Sennheisers for the same volume level. When used with a laptop via a Focusrite audio amp, they are too quiet. 600 ohms headphones are, therefore, to be used with either a good quality hi fi amp or via a dedicate headphone amp.
The good: these headphones are very detailed and revealing. It is true that they have a brightness to them but that is not the same as saying they are ‘bright’. It is easy to pinpoint instruments in the mix and hear them with a distinct quality that is lacking in the Sennheisers. Upon comparison, the instruments can be heard with the Sennheisers but not with the same precision and tonal quality. Percussion is handled extremely well and it is easy to hear intricate high hat details which are lost with the Sennheisers. There is a noticeable flavour to the skin of each drum. Strings are gloriously open. Bass notes are easy to hear without them blending into an overall bass boom. In particular, they excel with upright bass – the decay of each note can be heard and the characteristic of each string heard. You can tell instantly if a bass is electric or upright. The bass register seems to go lower than the Sennheisers too but it is not noticeably pronounced. Piano notes similarly benefit from hearing the acoustic properties of each note. Vocals are superb and intimate.
The not so good: These are not ‘rock’ headphones. They are not bass heavy and thus lack a rock sound stage presence. The stereo sound stage can sometimes lack focus and sound too wide. Pink Floyd was very detailed but suffered from being too left ear/right ear. The headphones benefit greatly from good quality recordings and mixes. They are breathtakingly good with small jazz ensemble, Sinatra, swing and any well recorded acoustically based genre. Some rock/pop recordings sound better than the Sennheisers and it would not be fair to say they are not good for other types of music. Overall, with my somewhat eclectic recording collection, I would say the Beyers sound better with about 70% of my music. When I prefer the Sennheisers, it is not because they ‘sound’ better, it is generally because they handle the sound stage better and tend to smooth any harshness in the production/mix which the Beyers reveal too honestly.
Summary: the headphones might sound ‘bright’ if used after listening to something ‘warm’. The same is true vice versa. The 600 ohms version is not suitable for portable devices, laptops, phone etc. as they are too quiet. They excel with tonal quality, detail and musicality. When partnered with good source material, they are superb. The Sennheisers are ideal for YouTube HD listening and other ‘device’ sourced material. They have a warm balance, are easy to live with deliver a solid all round performance. When that moment to listen to great source material arrives and stunning replication of detail, tone and total immersion is required, the Beyer DT 880 headphones deliver. Build quality is excellent. They are light and very comfy. I wish they had a detachable lead like Sennheiser headphones. When they are good (which is the majority of the time) they are simply excellent. For other times, I would buy a pair of modest headphones.
This purchase was the result of a thorough search with specific criteria and it met them all. For $200 and 32 olms impedance they are very good and I would buy them again for $200 phones. I use them primarily to listen to classical music – CDs or CD-quality files than AAC or MP3s. They are also used for listening to lectures or films through an ipad or computer. Equipment used: Bose wave radio or Macbook Pro. I do not use them with an amp.
These phones have a relatively neutral soundstage and are somewhat open-backed. They are extremely comfortable and the ear pads fit over my ear well. They do not ‘clamp’ down on my head as phones may. They are high quality and well made. They perform best on chamber or solo works; sound is crisp and clear. Larger works like symphonies or concertos they do fairly well.
In addition to having a neutral soundstage, other requirements were a cable (bluetooth adds noise), not to be noise ‘canceling’ in the same manner as the Bose QCs (that adds noise) – and in the $200 range. They are very good at blocking out noise even though they are not technically noise cancelling.
The number one drawback in my case is the 6′ long cable. It may easily become tangled, land on the floor, etc., etc. In addition to this being a nuisance, it is easy for the wires inside the cable to become damaged.
Overall, they are excellent for my purposes and I highly recommend them.

Comfort level is extremely good,no ear fatigue from these whatsoever. Lovely open soundstage and crisp detail for the money but be sure to get the correct resistance as most phones/laptop DACs will struggle to provide anything more than nominal volume to these 250
Got these 600 ohm phones to replace my 250 ohm version which i’ve had for the last 5 years until sadly one of the drivers started playing up. i power these with an apogee groove which is perfect for listening to demo’s and mixes.
i can use these phones for hours they are so comfortable. i can also push them to full volume on the apogee groove without them being overly loud and blowing my eardrum out.
Sound quality is great with Sonaworks headphone plugin.
i own
Sennheiser hd25
Pioneer hdj2000
Focal spirt professional
Apple ear buds
the beyers are easily the best sounding and most comfatable in my opinion only just beating the hd25 which are also great.
The Beyerdynamic DT880 Premium Ed. 600-ohm is a dynamic driver, semi-open (basically open) around-ear headphone designed for professional-use cases with professional-grade gear. It’s been hyped up a fair bit recently even though it’s been on the market for a long time. Does it live up to that hype?
TL;DR – It’s a great headphone. More neutral than 770, and not as bright or sibilant at 990. More soundstage than HD 600-series and better imaging. Absolutely does NOT require “ALL THE POWER” to drive, but needs more than portable gear can offer.
Packaging, Build & Accessories – Comes in a cardboard box with a graphic. Inside is a zippered, leatherette carrying case with a foam cutout for the headphone and cable. Pretty standard fare. Comes with it’s carrying case, and a threaded 1/4″ adapter.
Mostly plastic build, with metal grills, yokes, and a metal band that runs through a padded-leatherette wrap. As it’s a single cable from the left ear-cup, there is an exposed, black rubber wrapped cable coming out of the top of each ear-cup. The pads are actually the silver pads from the DT 990 and are not “880-specific”. It feels like it’s designed to survive some sh*t, as any headphone designed for professional use should.
Sound – It really is quite neutral. It sounds good, like it’s been tuned following research and time. More treble energy than HD 600 but hasn’t ever hurt like the HE-350 did, with tracks mastered too hot. Seems to have more bass than HD 600 as well. However, it seems to change it’s sound based on the output impedance of whatever it’s plugged into…
600 Ohm headphones should ideally sound the same with almost any gear, but really low OI gear seemed to have a change in the low frequency region, sounding a bit more bloated, and melding a bit with the midrange. Using them with more higher Z-out sources yielded the best sound to my ears. The Topping DX7 Pro has around 10-ohms of Z-out, and according to available material, the Emotiva A100 BasX has around 200-Ohms, and the Darkvoice 336se has >100-ohms as well. These are the amps that sounded the best. Subtle differences, but that was my preference.
Conclusions – As someone who listens to music as a hobby and not a profession, I feel these are worth their asking price. I tried them with a variety of amps and I consistently found that higher output impedances are my preference for getting the best sound out of them. That makes sense though, because a lot of professional gear has higher Z-out. 880 600-Ohm isn’t bad, or unlistenable with sub-1-ohm output impedance sources or anything though.
The DT 880 600-ohm has a max power handling of 100mW per channel. That means, if you amplifier can output around 100mW or better at @ 600 Ohms, it’s more than capable of driving these to destruction. For reference, the BasX A100 in direct drive mode can output a claimed 600mW into 600-ohms, and 200mW into 600-Ohms in normal mode! Way more than enough power to drive these hard AF. Heck, the Topping DX7 Pro gets these plenty loud and sounding good for most music around -20 dB in high-gain. I had to max it out when I was watching some TV shows with tracks mastered quietly, but still.
I want to remind people not to believe everything you hear or read on the internet. My power numbers come direct from Beyerdynamic’s, and Emotiva’s websites. Do your own research to determine what is necessary. You definitely don’t need a BasX A100 in direct drive mode WITH a DAC running more than 2 volts to drive these to satisfying volumes, but you will likely need more than an Apple Dongle, DAP, or USB bus-powered amp.
However, these are a fine mid-fi headphone and definitely worthy of being added to most folk’s stable.

The DT 880. ..32ohms version is a very good all round headset
good sound on all my devices ..iPhone ,mobile and my stereo Amp…and no need for an headphone amp
Very pleased with the purchase Excellent for the price I paid 153
Great headphones very comfortable great quality but little bit disappointed may be my fault but use them through all in one denon system but got put volume up very high perhaps the system I use the amplifier is not powerful enough to run them do I buy headphone amplifier? Like I said my fault for not investigating enough but they good headphones
I had to put a review out for these after listening to the first project I’ve used them for (these being DT 880 Edition 250 Ohm).
The music I make is ‘in the box – all on pc’ house music. Before now I’ve used HD25’s I had for DJ’ing. Every tune I made failed the car listen test each time. Forcing me to alter most elements of the track, backwards and forwards between car and computer til I got it close as possible. Very tiresome.
Little did I realise just how responsible the HD25’s were for this….
I’ve now made my first track with the Beyer’s for reference mixing and it’s the first time a tune has passed the car test first time.
Let me say this clearly for anyone wondering whether to get them for producing – what you hear in these headphones WILL translate to other systems.
I’m absolutely blown away with the end result. Wish I’d bought them years ago and for the money I can’t see how you can get better. Oh, and how they are made is just awesome; sooooooooo sturdy (but not heavy on the head).
100% rate them
I have owned the DT990 and DT880 both are fantastic. The Cable is always the first thing to go (mostly because if it hasn’t tangled around something by the time you take them off it is a miracle) and that happens after the warranty goes around 2 and a half years. One of the drivers then fails around a year or two after that.
When this new set goes, I will be able to repair either of the previous sets with the spare driver (If I really wanted) I did not with this one as they are a pain to solder.
I should add that I used each set almost every day without fail and took them to and from work, so they did not have an easy life.
Excellent headphones that sound great what more could you want?
. Se ti sono stato utile fammelo sapere !
These are some of the best cans i have ever owned and are now some of my favorite. In which I own the He400i,m1060,kph30i, and now these. I feel like I should say you NEED power otherwise the bass WILL distort on many tracks if you don’t power them correctly. So in order to combat this I’m using a speaker amp and some adapters so I’m using a 100 wpc speaker Class A amp to have these sound GOD tier in which the only thing they kind of lack in is bass but it is still very smooth. These annihilate my 1060 and 400i in many ways and due to that I mostly use the kph30i on the go and the 880’s at my desk. Alright let me go to comfort and build in which they are top notch (especially for the price) I have gone on periods of where I wear them for about 6-8 hours and absolutely no fatigue. In which the build is great granted I’m comparing them to the best built other headphones (m1060 and 400i). I have to say these are absolutely worth it if you can power them and can easily keep up with many planar headphones.
This headphones are just amazing. The 250ohm don’t need a lot to drive them and they sound way more expensive than they actually are. For anyway looking for a good headset that doesn’t break the bank this is for you.
For any gamers: Stop wasting your money on the random “gaming brands” out there. Just get a proper set instead from a brand like beyer.
Like. Used to have music listening sessions that do not interfere with others. They reliably reproduce every sound my system can put out. A very comfortable experience for music lovers.
Fantastic headphones. My only issue is that because it’s semi open, the volume is quite low on these vs. closed back ones.
They feel really nice on the ears!
Only cons: Attatched cable, 600ohm so hard to drive, headband hurts after a couple hours (less so than other cans)
My dac/amp setup that powered it surprisingly well: Schiit Heresey + Modi. I recently got a Schiit Valhalla ($345 tube amp that allows more volume to these headphones but easy-ish to distort) but I need a usb isolator for a ground loop issue. I also ordered a 50W per channel Emotiva BasX headphone amp and I’m sure those will make these sound amazing.
These headphones will expose EXACTLY how your music was meant to sound by their artists’ and will bring a smile to your face if and when you notice it (it took me a few days of listening to be perfectly honet). The bass is the PERFECT amount you’d want from accurate cans. I tested the DOOM 2016 OST and I expected SHRILL highs like with SHP9500’s but these are veryy smooth to listen to. The bass with the OST sounded fantastic. Still slaps against your ears but not overbearing. I prefer T50RP especially for listening to artists like Kendrick Lamar etc. because those are wide and bassy and RATTLE your skull. Now I have to figure out why I would listen to Sennheiser 6xx’s when I have these. Those have “thumpier” and slappier bass, but still narrow. 880’s are suprisingly wide yet accurate which also make them good for competitive gaming.
Update: Added dekoni nuggets, stretched out the headband to help with clamp, and added Dekoni velour pads. Its perfect now
I’ve had a pair of the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro models for about ~10 years now. I have used them almost every single day and they have never failed me. I just love them – so I had to get another pair. This time however I went for DT880 250 ohm and I am so glad I did. They are semi-open (semi-closed?) meaning they are inbetween an open back and closed back style headphone. This is the perfect range to me as you can still hear a bit of the outside noise around you, but its slightly closed up which dampens the outside sound. What this results in is a bit fuller bass response and low end while still having a fairly open soundscape and less harsh high end (treble). So you get basically the best of both worlds of an open back and closed back headphone and a more balanced/neutral sound and frequency range.
The treble on my DT990 was noticeably harsher. You’ll probably read that complaint by some folks. However, you can use an EQ (equalizer) and easily roll back the harsher treble on the DT990s with ease. I have used DT770s before and they had a ton of bass. I personally didn’t like them for this reason as I found it was only suitable for things like electronic music or anything bass heavy. However that could be really good depending on what music you are working with. This is where the DT880 works out well.. its inbetween both extremes.
This time I also went for the DT880 Premium instead of Pro model. I love the straight cable and the headset and clamping design is both lighter and a bit more comfortable than the Pro models. The build quality on each set is identical but initially the Pro model felt tight on my head for about a month until it eventually stretched to fit my head. The Premium however feels just right out of the box.. very comfortable. One thing I will mention though is since they are semi-closed, they will start to feel a bit warmer on your ears sooner than the 990s will which are fully open. I think the 990 is a bit more comfortable for an extended listening session for this reason.. however you have to put up with having to hear ALL outside noise while you have them on. Its nice having the outside noise slightly dampened with the 880s when watching a movie or TV show in my personal experience.
Overall if you can’t decide between the 770 or 990 model, I would highly recommend the 880. It is the perfect mix of both to me and the build quality at $200 US is just amazing.
I never post. I am a stalker i spose. i not only signed up for the forums b/c of this but felt the need to also post Had the Emotiva a100 powering my desktop (Bc of his review of that n hd’s which i did not own) speakers (elac debut 2.0’s) if you have the power to push these, my my they are amazing
But blew up a pair of grado’s trying to mess with it B-c of course i did the modn these are absolutely the reason this amp is made for; i know many ppl may piss n moan n stroke their beard bout this n that but for real. If you have the emotiva A100 u should absolutely get the 600 ohms n experience for yourself. Cut the source a bit and just die a lil inside w each track. I am not an audiophile but even with a topping d10 and minus 6-7 on the source it is exatasy. All the zeos has jumped the shark bs is just that. Bs. He has not steered me wrong in 3 yrs.
If you own the emotiva u need to marry the beyerdynamic dt 880 600 ohms to it. There is no discussion it is pure audio bliss I too sometimes eyeroll the z man but i listen when he is truly shook and this is a time he is right to be so. Songs ihave listened to for 20 yrs reveal things i have not heard before. That alone should tell you u need these in your life.
Sound Quality:
Incredible highs. Just crystal clear, well balanced, phenomenal depth. My benchmark for testing the highs on headphones is “Cherry Coloured Funk” and listening to it on these was like hearing it for the first time. Just great.
The bass is quite poor. However, you’re never going to get that deep, claustrophobic bass on a pair of (semi-)open backs that you would get on closed back.
Overall, great sound stage, good mids, great highs, lacking bass.
Comfort:
Super comfortable. Wear them for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. No complaints about the comfort. My one issue is that the metal frame doesn’t click into place very well when you adjust cup position so I have to reset it virtually every time put them back on.
Value for Money:
On the pricey side, but you get what you pay for.
Bought theses DT-880 premium to replace my ageing DT-770 Pros. Very happy with the sound quality and more comfortable then my previous ones and less clamping down around my ears so can wear them for longe
Thank you Beyerdynamic for improving my quality of life just that one little shade. I love listening to music on these every evening (I use a Focusrite preamp to link to my PC). They feel like super comfy ear-muffs. I wish I’d bought them years ago.
It doesn’t hurt that Beyerdynamic is also a small and rather old company. In a world of mass produced garbage, it feels good to help maintain a quality tradition. Terrific product.
I bought this to seek a better quality than my ATH-M50X. In comparison the quality is slightly better, more defined treble and not soo much bass, but balanced. The comfort is miles better. 32 ohm versions powers well off my samsung s10, although I nearly reach full volume most times, where as the m50x reaches the same noise level a little before. It would be better if it has a detachable wire if I should ever need to replace, like the m50x. Fits my big head well. The side adjustments a little tight to move, for the better, as dont want it. Sound leakage, person next to me can her the music.
Box came with case, and screw on 6.35mm plug.
In general I have retired my m50x as I find this more superior, better listening quality and comfort.
I upgraded to these from the audio technica m30x was not dissapointed. You lose a small amount of bass but i think its perfect. Super rich sound. Comfiest headphones ive ever worn as well.
I spent far too much time reading reviews of headphones. I wanted an over-ear set for comfort an open backed set for better sound (I listen on my own). In the end after looking at reviews and specs. I went for these. Wow!! The sound is everything I was looking for. Clear, good across the frequency range, great clarity — can’t find a fault. I tried the Grado SR80e’s and I have to say the sound is good but too sharp and punchy for my tastes and the build quality is poor. You do need a good source for the headset. Straight from my Motorola G6 the sound is ropey to say the least. Include a DAC (I have a Cyrus Soundstage) and the sound is fantastic. Over Plex great sound. Off my PC sounds OK but with the DAC so much better. From my Denon mini player again superb sound – as good as my really good Dali speakers. These headphones are v comfortable and I could wear them all day. They fit my fairly large ears v well. They are described as semi-open – so I can hear people in the same room talking but its not too distracting and the sound other hear is not excessive. All round – if you want a headset with superb sound and great comfort go for these.
Premessa.
For the classical music lover these are simply the best value for money around
Excellent sound, strongly recommend. Can’t say any negative thing about this item.
o need for amplifier, i am not sure why so many people claim u need one. i got the 600 ohm verision but i also have a 250 and the sound is the same just lounder with an amplifier (wasted my money). i was expecting the sound for the 600ohms to be very quiet at 100% volume from reading the review but its very load for me even at 20% volume without at amp.
wow I have had 10 headsets but this one is by far the best .this headset does everything but need a amp to get the most out of it music fantastic gaming on another level you can hear every little noise need a microphone for gaming xbox1 x I have this and turtle beach microphone my search is over for the best head se
A pair of Sennheiser HD650 bought a couple of years ago always disappointed, with weak upper treble and a lack of sparkle (matched to a very good amp and cd player). I have had Sennys for the last 40yrs and decided now might be a good time to try something new. Took a punt on the Beyerdynamic DT880 250ohm to get some clean bass and more top, not expensive ‘phones but fine for routine listening. They certainly do not disappoint. If their clean and well-balanced sound is typical of Beyerdynamics in general, the Amirons will replace my HD650’s very soon.
Excellent quality sound and a very comfortable experience.
Bought for monitoring, mixing and some mastering of Bandcamp releases. These have allowed me to hear accurately and to push the bottom end without losing quality.
Highly recommended for accurate listening, which means if the source is dodgy you are going to hear it. Really comfortable and easy to forget that you have these on, especially with the open backs, which retains a sense of beng in a room.
Being my first audiophile grade headphones, there’s quite a lot to discuss. I’ve come from a background where I’m used to using earbuds or headsets, and haven’t really touched in the stages of good headphones. Was I ambitious to try them out? Absolutely. Did I ever get the chance to? Not really. But perhaps that is what has been clouding my judgment when I had cheaper audio devices that don’t really bring justice to what I listen to. I’ve always thought that perhaps what I had were sufficient and good. Well I guess perhaps I was right on the former, but I always had this crave to find something better. After all, sound and music in general are something that not everyone had the full pleasure of experiencing. If that’s the case, then I should fully appreciate my senses by giving them the best treatment. And a good headphone is definitely something that fills that criteria.
Regardless, it was a long search to see which set of cans were fit for me. I had the chance to check out some cans that were highly rated at first. M50x? Surprised me in a lot of ways. The sound was actually a nice step up from what I’ve heard before, so I’m quite glad for that. Sadly, it felt almost cheap in a way despite what people have been saying then. Not to mention, it was also surprisingly uncomfortable to wear. The more I heard however, the more I felt a certain artifact in the bass. I haven’t exactly heard this from other people, but that’s at least what I felt. The mids were recessed, and it almost feels artificial in a way especially when you’re making out instruments. So that’s a no go. I went back to the drawing board to find something else. Something comfortable, something accurate, yet still poppy. That’s when I landed on the 880’s. At first, I didn’t think of much actually, almost slightly disappointed. The sound wasn’t anything groundbreaking, but weirdly enough the more I listened to it, the more I adapted almost. I personally don’t believe in burn-in, and I’ve been using this for quite a while now. I’m 100% certain that the sound quality didn’t change from the beginning, yet I’ve grown drastically more comfortable and accustomed to it. Here are some of the pros and cons that I’ve found when using this.
Pros:
– Surprisingly, its not as difficult to drive as I would’ve thought. I got the 250ohm version, and even without an AMP on any of my devices, it is definitely loud enough to drive. It does become a slight issue on phones, however even with a phone that doesn’t have the best sound board installed (S7 Edge), I am still able to hear it clearly if I ramp it up to max volume.
– Incredibly breathable. The open design does allow me to use this headphone for very, very long periods of time without ear fatigue. Though I would still recommend everyone, regardless of headphones to take a break every once in a while even for a minute. That’ll allow you to rest.
– Incredibly comfortable. Yeah do I really need to say? Nearly everything apart from the metal is nice and soft, and creates a very welcoming comfort. The premium version does come with less clamp than the pro versions of the beyer headphones line, so it doesn’t feel as hard. It’s personally the perfect clamp for me, however its apparent enough that you do still feel the headphone on you.
– Excellent build quality. This is one of the big features of the headphones. It’s built like a tank. While sadly its not incredibly flexible in how it can bend and fold, it’s very durable and premium feeling.
– Nice soundstage and great imaging. It’s not the widest area that I’ve heard, but it’s incredibly clear of the positioning of instruments and it feels very accurate in its distance.
– Unbelievable sound in general. It’s super clear in nearly everything. It’s not super bassy, but it has a great balance of everything that makes the sound pop, while still being accurate. Despite what people say about it being a neutral headphone, I respectively disagree. It’s actually quite fun sounding for what it is, but with nice accuracy in its trebles, mids, and lows too.
– A 3m long cable is just quite insane. It feels very nice and sturdy too.
– A quarter jack (6.35mm jack) that can be twisted off for a 3.5mm jack is a very cool addition.
– Nice carrying case. It’s nothing too extraordinary, but its a nice addition to the cans.
Cons:
– If you’re looking for some noise cancelling headphones, yeah no. It may say semi-open back, but it still very clearly leaks noise. Perhaps around 1/3 the noise is leaked out, however even at a quiet volume, that means that the noise is audible from the outside. Vice versa too with outside noise getting in.
– The headband despite its comfy material, can actually be slightly heavy on the scalp. I’m not entirely sure why, but it’s not a deal-breaker at least for me because I’m still able to wear it comfortably for a long time before it does start to fatigue my head.
– The velour pads very easily deflate. Don’t get me wrong, they’re still incredibly comfy, but its apparent that replacement of pads are needed every few years if it does deflate in this rate.
– It’s not incredibly flexible in how it can change and fold as stated in the pros.
– The non-detachable cable is my biggest issue of what would otherwise be a completely perfect set of cans. Honestly, nothing much more to say.
Overall that’s all I have to say. I’m still quite blown away by what it can do the more I listen to it. Rediscovering songs I’ve heard a million times is a big surprise along the way. You can hear details that you may have not caught before, which really comes together for a great masterpiece of a product. Thank you.
seems pretty good very comfy and pretty decent build quality. the cable is super long but that could be positive or negative depending how you see it.
Just received my headphones, so far really happy with them. Can’t ask for much more at this price point. I am a audio engineer and I’ve been using them to work on some of my mixes. Really like the flat sound, the stereo image, and how comfortable they are to use during long mixing sessions. You can really hear all the details really clearly with no distortion. 5 stars product for my needs.
I finally found the value-priced mixing/mastering headphones of my dreams! I definitely prefer the 880s to the 770s and 990s. Bass sounds perfectly balanced. Really even response across the entire frequency spectrum regardless of music genre. To my ears, the 770s have a somewhat emphasized bass and treble, and the 990 a waay exaggerated bass to the point that I couldn’t take listening to them for long. I own the 880s, 770s, tested the 990s, and have owned the sony mdr-7506 & mdr-v6 for a long time which I find ok but have too much high frequency emphasis. I do not agree with the opinions that there is a lack of bass with the 880s. Plenty of bass, sounds so good. As in exactly how I think the bass should sound. I have the 250 ohm version and when I happen to use them straight out of my computer headphone jack or my phone, they get pushed plenty hard. For example, I can’t crank the volume on my Samsung s9+ 100% of the way up or it hurts. No need for lower impedance version imo, even if you don’t have an amp. Also, the Edition’s lighter clamping pressure is so kind on the head if you’re sitting with them on for hours and hours. The pressure of the 770 pros I have hurts after a short while. I even like the straight cord — no heavy coil segment dangling mid-air weighing them down. The bulk of the cord rests on the ground — perfect! I love these phones. So happy!
Amazing headphones for the price. They’re semi-open, so not that spacious, but I bought my DT-880/600ohm ‘phones for $240 and there’s really nothing like this in the pricerange here in Canada. They respond fantastically well to some EQ’ing too if you’d like to balance out the mids a touch (I use the free Equalizer APO). They’re by far the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever worn, too (I wear them 6-8h a day on many occasions for studio work).
Beware, however — 600ohm is rather high impedance, and most audio interfaces don’t even drive the phones completely the way they deserve. Even with a Scarlett 18i8, though, they sound fantastic and detailed.
I’ve been using Philips’ SHP9500s for the last few years because I thought they were pretty comfortable, but recently I started looking for pricier but still cost effective choices. Sennheiser’s HD 579 headphones where my first choice, but they were very uncomfortable, digging into the side of my head and sometimes causing my ears to sweat–gross! These, by comparison, are like a cloud that I forget about at times. Slightly more comfortable than the SHP9500s, they also hold on very well and don’t fall off your head easily.
I’m not an informed audiophile, but these are definitely better suited to my taste than any of the headphones I’ve owned previously. Awesome deal!
The DT880 has been around for a very long time because it is an exceptional pair of headphones. I have all three versions now and the 600 Ohm is my favourite. All the versions require a good amp to drive them, even the 32 Ohm. They are very detailed and clear with a medium wide sound stage. They have a very flat frequency range with no obvious spikes or dips. Some people find them bright and lacking in bass, but these were designed as reference headphones, so they are supposed to be very neutral. They deliver exactly what is in the recording with wonderful space around the instruments and incredible detail.
Absolutely amazing! Complimented by a Creative ZxR with a 600 ohm output, they are by far the best headphones I’ve ever owned, far superior than my collection of sennheisers. The bass levels are perfect with no distortion to higher bass tones when heavy low ones are added The top end is crystal clear and the best I’ve ever heard. They are very comfortable to wear with very low contact pressure, this is added by the super soft cushions and material. After long periods of wearing my ears warmed a little but not to an uncomfortable level, they’re also quite light a you hardly feel any weight. 10/10
I bought these from Amazon warehouse deals for about half the RRP.
These are The Best headphones I’ve ever had and of those I’ve tried in shops etc only those costing several times as much are close to these overall.
Wonderful build, supremely comfortable – can listen for hours.
The sound is fantastic – I am not going to start talking in jargon – these are excellent open backed phones – wityh brilliant sound, a delight to listen to and a music lovers dream.
I drive these with a TEAC AH500i to perfection.
Absolutely no regrets. Best headphones I have owned. Had to buy a DAC amplifier to power them (FiiO E10K) and probably need a better DAC amp to get the most out of them, but already very happy with the purchase. Hearing all sorts of detail in songs that I had never appreciated before
