Been pleasantly surprised. Had our last black n decker for many years. This is a replacement for it. So far so good. Handle good length for handling. Works well. Simple to assemble. Seems solid but time will tell.

Very powerful strimmer which I wholeheartedly recommend. Different strimmer cartridges for heavy or lighter duty strimming. Either way this thing obliterates weeds though it does eat through strimmer cable relatively quickly so I advise purchasing a couple of spares. I’m a lazy gardener and I hate gardening but this device had done it’s job in a quarter of the time my previous less powerful strimmer took. A win for me.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSimply put??… a mini beast of a machine! Having moved home Dec 2022, I had not cut the grass, mine was the worst in the street, ha ha. Bought this mainly because its a well known brand and was cheap. Sadly, it did such a great job on the garden, within minutes I was looking around at what else I could ‘strim & distroy’

It takes no prisoners haha I thought it would be weak only having one line of strim line but no no I got this to replace my dads whipper snipper we got in Australia in 89 And it’s just as good

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant wee strimme

I had a two cutter strimmer witch I could never get on with ,the times when it would jam up and take me 10 mins to sort out the wire ,so I bought a Black & Decker single cut strimmer what a difference much much better no hassel, great strimmer .

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have knocked off a star because it is too heavy. It cuts great no worries on that score. Cuts through garden stuff like butter. But I’m not a strong lady unfortunately. Plus you have to keep your finger constantly pressing down on the power button which leaves you with a painful thumb

We got it put together fairly easily, but you have to pivot the strimmer 360 to put it into the strimming position, as opposed to the edging position. Took us a frustrating while to get the thing to pivot. Strims ok though. Just make sure you have a load of extra strimmer wire!

One of the more powerful electric strimmers at 900w
Comes with interchangeable wire spools, one normal one heavy duty wire, easily changed
900w plus the heavy duty wire should cut through all garden needs
Easily put together, length and handle angle can be altered for personal preference
    Added wheel for precision edging
Only used it the once but very happy with the outcome
    A good garden additio

I cannot understand the negativity with regard to this strimmer. I have received mine today and have taken it out and used it against mainly brick walls. I had no breakages of the nylon what so ever. I’m sorry for those who say they did but I have purchased many different strimmers from petrol ( massive mistake) to numerous electric strimmers.
This black and decker has by far out shone the rest I have purchased.
    I say again. EXCELLENT!

Worked much better after loading own strimmer line onto cartridge. The line it comes with gets eaten through very quickly but we are strimming against sleepers for the most part. Other reviews complained about the weight, it’s not super light but I don’t struggle as a person of the fairer sex.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersMy old strimmer gave up the ghost and i decided i wanted to get a strimmer which could also do edging and that is what this does. I like the stronger “string” although the normal “string” which comes with it is as expected need to unwind when the normal “string” needs to be pulled out. The stronger “string” simply clips in and is much easier to use.

i have a damaged wrist so find it not as lightweight or as manoeuvrable as it could be but for an able boded person i am sure it is good on both of those items.

Definitely a powerful strimmer. Wear goggles.
    Ideal for overgrown gardens.
    It’s not overly heavy
Will cut the thickest brambles, struggles (understandably) with thicker stems.
The cord on the reel is actually pretty good and lasted most of a 22 x 20 ft overgrown patch of garden.
The so-called heavy duty line is pretty useless really and I won’t be buying again as the reel does the best job.
Early days but so far so good.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWhen I assembled the strimmer I thought it looked different to the one I ordered. Realised my error I still got a bargain but imagine my surprise…. Bank Holiday weekend 51.45 to be reduced to 43 as soon as the bank holiday as finished. If I had not assembled it I would send it back in principle. OK ok I know it was my fault but beware and do not what I did…. Shop around. The product itself is OK and can not complain about that… Easy to assemble and seems solid.
Now used it and it is not bad. My previous strimer was double string at this is single but coped well my needs. The rest I put down to Experience

I pondered for a long time whether or not to go for a cordless, but the state of my garden demanded a powerful strimmer. Finally settled on this one and i wasn’t disappointed. It’s not heavy but packs a punch and ate through my overgrown garden easily. The wide circumference of the strummer was a big plus as was the ability to swivel the head 180 degrees. A great buy that i would recommend to anyone.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersOk, I purchased this machine and used it today for the first time, my old strimmer (also a Black & Decker) was over 20 years old and the bearing casing was worn.
This machine is more powerful than my old B&D, my old machine used heavy strip lines which come with this machine and that’s a big plus, because the auto feed line lasted less than 10 minutes on the long grass. The line got tangled and was being cut like there was no next hour never mind tomorrow.
Once I fitted the heaven duty strip lines it was like my old machine and cut the long grass like butter.

One downside to the machine is that it doesn’t have cable storage hooks like my old machine, I know the height is adjustable which is good because I am quite tall but you could have made clamp on ones for it.
All in all the machine is well worth the money and I will probably make some cable storage clamps

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a powerful strimmer and is perfect for my long garden. It certainly goes through a lot of string though and tends to throw the last bit out in quite long pieces all over the garden. I purchased the double string holder attachment as well but found it just wastes more string for little benefit, so am using just it with the standard string holder which has more room for string. I find it annoying that the spool doesn’t seem to release from the strimmer to make it easier to reload. I find it slow and aggravating trying to wind it past the spool casing whilst it is still on the machine. It also came with a small pack of plastic wings that look like they are supposed to clip on somewhere but they are not mentioned in the instructions and there doesn’t seem to be anywhere to fit them?

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this 2 years ago and it is excellent and powerful and still going strong. I used to buy the Flymo contour strimmers which i’ve realised now pretty much tickled the grass and took ages to strim. This strimmer is a beast in comparison at not much extra cost and has pretty much cut the work down to a third of the time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this strimmer. It is also pretty lightweight considering it’s power which was one of the reasons i bought it as have a back condition. The reel is also very easy to replace unlike its predecessors which took me ages. This takes a couple of minutes to replace the whole reel which i prefer instead of replacing the line only. Very happy with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersMy current (24cm) cordless strimmer, and previous corded one, both took about thirty five minutes to do the grass areas I need to do.
This strimmer took eight minutes – but along with quite a few gashes into the grass in the process!
It is very powerful, dispensing in large part with the need to resweep over areas. It does the job satisfyingly with one sweep.
And the wide cutting circle of 35 cms also helps to do the task far quicker.
The small wheel at the base to roll along the ground as you edge the grass after turning the stem 180, is another real plus. My previous strimmers both have heavily scarred areas from being dragged along the flagstones doing the same job.
I have however noticed a lot of small pieces of strimming cord around the garden and paths, so whilst the thicker cutting cord is far more effective, backed up by the powerful motor as it is, it may be that you get through more cord.
But aside from having to man-handle this weighty and cumbersome machine, it is in a class of its own as an extremely effective corded strimmer – especially for thicker grass and foliage areas.
The time saved on any job more than compensates for the extra effort needed to use it.
Just one word word of caution. This strimmer can quickly scythe straight through the grass into the soil in one sweep too if badly angled – so with far more power more care is needed.
    But a great machine.

My old GL545 gave up after 20 years of very successful use and I replaced it with this up to date model. Feels and works the same as the old one and delighted with the automatic feed which is still the same.. In fact I’ve kept the old spool as a spare. I have tried other automatic feeder systems but like this one the best. A bit heavier with the larger motor (450w) but still manageable and the extendable handle is an improvement.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersUpdate: After using this several times now I can confirm that the future for grass and weeds is bleak. This really does the job. Just one bit of advice.it does get through the standard line (on the reel) quite quickly. Use the heavy duty one instead.

Wow. Easy to assemble. Used once. Easy to operate. Showed the grass and weeds who is boss. Bought it to replace another model that was as much use as a chocolate teapot. This is no chocolate teapot. It’s a full tea set made out of kryptonite. I think I’m in love

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersNeeded a new strimmer as I had a cheap rubbish old one that couldn’t handle the grass I had left to overgrow for months.
Bought this one as it was the most powerful one of the type.
I used the heavy duty strimmer wire from the get go, and not used the standard one yet as my garden really needed it!
Strimmer is really powerful and got through all the grass and various nettles and weeds really easily, did go through a couple of wires on the tougher sections, but it comes with a few spares anyway.
Really easy to put the strimmer together, and simple to swap the wires to new ones too.
Because its so powerful it does vibrate a bit, so I could only use it for about 30 minutes before I had to set it down and let my arms recover and stop vibrating! So be aware that if you are not used to heavy tools like this that you will probably need to take some breaks in between if you have a fair amount to trim.

The only complaint I would have, is not so much the strimmer itself, but amazon and their frequently bought together section. I bought some extra heavy duty wire to go with it, as suggested by amazon, which turn out not to be suitable for the model I bought, didn’t realise this until I had received it. Fortunately they can be sort of adapted to work with it, but not officially, and no idea if it will damage the wire holder, so just make sure you are getting the correct ones.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI speak on behalf of my kind niece who tackled my higher than dog high grass with this strimmer. We put it together, instructions weren’t too clear but got there quite quickly. She went straight out and I didn’t expect her back for quite some time as the garden was well over run, but in a flash it was done! Not sure we had the spool correctly configured as it was down to the last 6 inches by the end (average sized garden). Full thumbs up.

A couple of minor thoughts, like another reviewer, it would be nice to have a shoulder strap as additional support – although I checked the weight of this strimmer against similar Flymo and this one was lighter. It would also be nice to have a couple of hooks or cleats to wrap the electrical flex around for storage – but no biggie at all. Very happy with the product and a good price. Will probably be buying non-Black and Decker replacement spools if the rate of usage is indicative.

All I can say about this strimmer is that it doesn’t just spread soft grass, I also cut nettles 1 cm thick with the heavy duty cable. on the other side of the fence I had a few bushes high over the fence a little and it cut without problems, it’s the first time I use something like that but I’m very satisfied and I highly recommend

I am amazed at the power of this strimmer and how effective it can be

A good choice for my one third of an acre garden, methinks. I was not attracted by the battery powered strimmers. A limited amount of usage, thus far. ‘Have since purchase several reels of strimmer wire, both “Grass” and “Extra Strong”. Only a few inches of “Grass” wire came with the strimmer! So, beware if/when purchasing, you will also need to buy some strimmer wire(s).

Bought this as a replacement for one that gave up the ghost. The one I had was struggling to keep up with our needs tbh. I love this one as it has inter-changeable strimmer wires and the heavy duty ones look like straws rather than those that are on a reel. To use them you need to change the dispenser and that is an absolute doddle. This strimmer made light work of an overgrown lawn with weeds, brambles, twigs etc . Really happy with this purchase and spare strimmer chords (either on a reel or the heavy duty ones) are readily available

This year I turned areas of my lawn over to wildflower meadow (about 100 sq metres total), which needed to be cut down around the end of August. I started off with my DIY store own-brand cheapy strimmer and it was such hard work I gave up before I’d done a tenth; so I bought this B&D heavy duty strimmer and the powerful motor and large radius cut actually made the work enjoyable – it’s no light weight, but it is well balanced and easy to control. It would probably benefit from a shoulder strap for extended use, but on the whole, I’m well pleased with it.

A very well made strimmer, far sturdier than most others I have seen. The problem for me was it won’t do virtical edges. We have lawns with pavings around, the trouble was the line just kept feeding and breaking when trying to trim those edges in the virtical position.
Opinion, a good, strong, well made strimmer for flat strimming but vertical edges would need to have a few inches clearance

I’ve always avoided strimmers in the past – nasty, noisy, intrusive.
However with advancing years and arthritis (cue violins) I’ve had to give in.
This bit of kit couldn’t be better: it’s light to hold; the cutting end and motor are nicely balanced; and the switch is nice and light to use.
Noise wise it’s nothing like as bad as a petrol strimmer, thank goodness. The only modification I made was to fit a strap
round the handle that I could then put over shoulders which I find make even lighter to hold.
I can’t comment on it’s longevity as I’ve used a few times but so far so good.

What a difference this strimmer has made. I have had terrible anxiety trying to tackle my garden, which has been so overgrown! I bought this with the HD line for tougher lawn and its blown my mind! Photos show before and after. 1 HD line cut the whole area, didn’t need to replace it.

Only downside is it is slightly heavy and the handle would not clip in place, so it moves up… But for what it does, I am not complaining!? Well worth the money

A previous reviewer described this strimmer as ;the ‘Chuck Norris of strimmers. I take it that was a reference to the 900W version. The 700W version I have is Chuck’s slightly younger brother.
It took me some moments to get comfortable with the torque I was experiencing. During those moments the strimmer came into contact with a full 15cm plastic plant pot. The strimmer ripped a chunk out of the top and put a 2,5 inch gash in the side. And that is with the 2mm wire.
Very impressive taking down my long grass. V. pleased

Easy to setup, can be reconfigured for edge cutting. Comes with heavy duty line as well as 2cm strimming line. Cuts through the grass really easily and a wider cutting diameter helps massively. Has plenty of power for a medium sized job. Love it! Almost as good as my old petrol strimmer. Highly recommended as most electric/cordless strimmers lack power. This one definitely doesn’t. Super!

Having read the review that this the Chuck Norris of strimmers it had a lot to live up to.
I can honestly say I has lived up to expectations. I bought it’s predecessor years ago which finally gave up the ghost and wanted the option of the heavy duty line.
This beast didn’t need it. The edge of my grass patch was a haven for thistles, brambles and some random bush that is growing from next doors garden. The standard line made short work of it all!
As previously mentioned this will cut through almost everything and if you lapse concentration for a minute it will leave nothing in its wake!
Brilliant machine that does what you’d expect!

Bought to replace a 2 stroke petrol machine so am used to having a powerful strimmer that could be used for long periods. Battery machines were not going to be any good. This machine is very well made and has a solid quality feel to it. It looks like it is going to last. The 900W motor and 2mm strim line make short work of anything that gets in range including thistles and nettles without clogging up. More than adequate mains lead length. Not a quiet machine. I will not miss having to spend half an hour trying to get a reluctant 2 stroke engine to start for 40 mins work even if the alternative has the compromise of a trailing power cord.

I have been using this strimmer for a while now and really don’t have anything negative to say about this machine. It edges the lawn effortlessly and cuts through tough tall grass and hard weeds without any grumble. It is equipped with a tough highspeed motor which doesn’t gets overwhelmed whatever the job is. It is well balanced to handle and light enough for someone like me who has well passed the retirement age. I would recommend this machine.

Fed up with frigging around with a petrol strimmer, the oil / fumes, effort of starting, noise etc. This is so much easier to use. It isn’t quite as destructive as the petrol strimmer, so a job might proceed more slowly, but you finish less tired and sooner because you don’t have all the horsing around with bump feed, fuelling, starting and general mechanicking.

Its much better than it looks and the 900 watt motor is powerful and lashes through thick growth. The replacement string (ready on a spool) isn’t good value for money and you will be better off getting a spool of string from your local dealer and and winding it on yourself. I’m well pleased with it and have strimmed my way through some very tough grass, nettles etc.

Now, this strimmer is a beast! I have a massive garden (overgrown) and this beast is powering thru no problem! And I’m talking 6′ high thistles here, never mind the rest!
It’s only downside is you really do fly thru the string quickly. So have plenty of back up at the ready. And don’t get caught out buying their ready wound spools…….they only have 6mtrs on them! All in all, I got this at a great price, am loving how easy it is to use (especially the guiding wheel!) and would recommend it to anyone with a larger garden.
