Ergonomic Design
The Black & Decker Chainsaw is ergonomically designed to ensure that it is easy and convenient to use. At just 2.3 kg, this is a very lightweight chainsaw, which makes it easier to transport and manoeuvre, as well as reducing fatigue whilst completing prolonged work.
The primary handle has a textured, over-moulded rubber handle that offers a secure grip on the chainsaw. It also has a secondary handle which wraps around the unit for added stability whilst cutting, as well as balancing the weight of the chainsaw to increase user comfort.
The chainsaw has an automatic leak-free oil system and there is a small window which allows you to see clearly when the oil needs to be refilled. The chainsaw can also lie flat on its side, which allows you to re-fill the oil with ease.
Lithium-Ion Battery
The chainsaw comes with an 18 V Lithium Ion battery, which once charged holds its charge for up to 18 months whilst idle. From flat, a full battery charge takes 8 hours; however, as Lithium Ion batteries have no memory effect, they do not need to be run flat before charging. You can therefore simply top-up the charge before using it.
Lithium Ion batteries also offer 30 per cent longer runtime compared to comparable units with NiCad or NiMH batteries. This means that the Black & Decker chainsaw offers on average 150 cuts per battery charge thanks to its 1.5 Ah battery.
The cordless design also gives you more freedom than traditional chainsaws as there is no need to worry about cables getting in the way, finding extension leads or filling the chainsaw up with petrol. This also means that there are no harmful emissions.
Safety
The chainsaw has a lock off safety switch, whereby two switches must be pressed at same time to start tool, which removes any chance of accidental start. The primary handle also has an over-moulded, rubber, non-slip grip which offers high stability and security. The chainsaw is also fitted with an anti-kickback chain for added safety.

Arrived promptly – easy to assemble – cannot comment on its long term performance yet as it has only been in use for a few days.
I bought this to bring an oversized conifer hedge down to a reasonable height. Some of the trunks were substantial and it cut through them without difficulty. The trick to controlling the saw, seems to be cutting at the end nearest the handle.
I purchased this over 18 months ago and it has been used quite a lot and still going strong. Just remember to order some chain saw oil to put in it.
I’ve enjoyed using this chainsaw & found it very useful. It does come with a charger but no oil, a sample would have been helpful. The only thing I found was you have to make sure the oil cap is fastened tightly or the oil pours out Really great little product not too heavy for use older ladies!
You have to remember it’s not petrol, so lacks the power of the big boys. However its quiet and does cut, Al be it not as quick as a petrol chain saw. I cut a piece of 4 x 4 wood. It went through it reasonably well. As it’s my first chain saw I think it’s good for what I need.

This does the job well, smaller than I thought it would be, so handles pruning and smaller trees ok but don’t attempt anything bigger than about 6″ diameter, but providing that’s what you need its fine. The chain is fidderly to put on and does need constant checking and adjusting but providing you know and do it, all is good

This was bought to collect branches for my parrot aviaries so only cutting 2 to 3 inch diameter, i’ve tried it on bigger logs 6 inch diameter and it worked perfectly. Worth the money and a well made chainsaw (up to now)

So far so good but I do feel that a higher volltage giving more power may have been a good idea. I will do a further review after another month.
