Very quick to set up, Charge time 2 hour’s & click-an-go battery. I did my hedge in a fraction of the time, this why writing a review. The product is light and well balanced, plus with no trip hazards with corded. Not forgetting how low the noise. I enjoyed doing my hedge which is 10 meters long nearly 2 meters high. Worth the buy.

…this is the second Bosch hedge trimmer I’ve had, my last one lasted 10 years! Replaced it with this product and I find it really easy to use. It’s lightweight, cuts well and battery time is excellent. I trimmed three 5ft round conifers that hadn’t been cut for a year and this trimmer was still working 40 minutes later!
As long as you don’t expect it to cut thick branches I would recommend this product for general hedge trimming.

We recently moved house to a house with a hedge. We’ve never owned or used electric hedge cutters before. I was a bit wary of corded versions so opted for this cordless model. I was influenced by the fact that I already have other Bosch devices and the batteries are interchangeable, which to me is a significant benefit.
The hedge was out of control. It’s maybe 15 feet across and had grown to about 12 feet high, so I needed to work with a ladder. The cutter is really easy to use and felt very safe. It is light, and not as noisy as my neighbour’s corded machine. We completed the job on just one charge of the 2.5 battery. It dealt with quite thick stems very successfully although the really thick stuff at the core of the hedge needed loppers. Very happy to recommend this item.

Do I love this hedge trimmer or what? Best ever hedge trimmer, literally took less than an hour to trim either side of my conifer hedges both sides of the garden. Very easy to use, cuts through relatively thick stem branches and some dead wood, but not super thick, and will revese action if in contact with them so won’t damage motor. No loss of power during the full use of trimming, even adhoc stuff in the garden such as roses, ornimental grasses and bramble were a breeze to cut down. Very easy to clean using an old tooth brush, and I brush the trimmer blade with chain saw lubricant before and after use which reduces friction during use, and enhances blade life. This has to be the best power tool I’ve bought in a long time, and being battery powered there are no cables to cut through. Even when climbing to the top of my ladder to trim top of conifers I felt really safe using this trimmer, especially as it had been raining the day before and conifers were still wet, but I definitely do not endorse use in wet weather for safety reasons. This bosch hedge trimmer is definitely a 5* purchase and life time investment if looked after! Thank you Amazon and Bosch. Always read the instructions booklet despite reviews.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis Bosch hedge cutter replaces an older one that I bought almost 4 years ago. Although that was still working well this one is an upgrade in terms of capability and performance, with a longer cutting blade and a bigger capacity for cutting. The design is very similar in terms of shape which I am very pleased about — it is ideal for cutting from either the left or the right, and the shape makes it easy to hold whilst working. This model is slightly heavier and longer but that hasn’t been an issue as it is still light enough, with a reasonable balance between the blade and the handle. The battery charges easily with the supplied charger and lasts long enough to cut my own hedges, without draining flat. It is also excellent at retaining charge in-between uses so I know that I can pick it up from the shed and use it straight away. I like that the final cutting edges of the blade have a slightly larger cutting capacity than the rest (25mm as opposed to 20mm) so I can tackle some bigger branches and it does a decent job of cutting cleanly. It is supplied with a plastic blade guard which simply slides into place when not in use, and I haven’t found anything that I dislike about this excellent tool.

I have an older version of this Bosch hedge trimmer and I can confirm that this newer version is great. It is much lighter, the battery is a third of the size and weigh, the battery is quicker to recharge, and the shorter blade length makes it easier to handle.

Like before the safety mechanism means that you have to apply pressure with both your hands in two different places so children are less likely to pick up the hedge trimmer and get it to work.

The battery recharges from the mains. The battery slips easily under the back handle and is so light.

Being a cordless hedge trimmer gives you a great freedom of movement without having to worry about any cable, which was always dangerous for people like me who are not natural gardeners. I try and avoid trimming thicker branches because it is a hedge trimmer and over time this might damage the blades and make the trimming less effective.

Obviously you should read the manual and follow the safety instructions.

A great buy for under 100.

I have an old set of corded hedge trimmers that I inherited from my Dad when he moved house. They work well, but the cord makes them annoying, as I’m constantly having to move it out of the way (something my Dad also had issues with, as the cord has been cut near the trimmers and rejoined with a separate plug).

So here we have a set of cordless trimmers. The battery takes only a short while to charge fully, and the trimmers made short work of the large bush in my garden that needed trimming – slicing through even the thicker branches with ease.

I only wish I’d got this sooner – my old house had loads of hedges and bushes.

  82. Andrew Blok says:

     United Kingdom

Easy to charge, this trimmer cut through branches like a hot knife through butter, making it easy to trim even, tidy surfaces. I particularly appreciated its light weight, as it can be a strain to hold a cutter above shoulder height. The charge lasts for a long time and retains its power, so I would recommend this without reservation.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThe description for this model suggests small and young hedges — and the pictures are of a lady trimming an already trimmed hedge with not so much as a twig for the cutter bar to tackle.

It is not that this hedge-cutter will suffice where a petrol-engined professional machine is called for, but — short of that — it will do a lot more than is suggested by the advertising.

Besides the length (and therefore reach) of the cutter bar, the chief limiting factor is the 15mm gap between the teeth. That means you can’t seriously ask it to cut through anything of more than about 12mm (half an inch) diameter.
But the important thing is that it will cut through those. Perhaps not if they are of the hardest and toughest types of wood, but it unhesitatingly cut through anything and everything I asked of it in my hawthorn hedge — which is neither small nor young and had thrown up some moderately ambitious spikes since I last cut it.

My beech hedge — of similar age (38 years) and even bigger — isn’t fully in leaf yet, but I have taken off some of the new growth so the postman doesn’t get drenched on wet days, and those soft, new young leaves were an absolute doddle for it.

I was hoping the battery and charger would be interchangeable with my two Bosch power drills. Unfortunately, the batteries on the drills are 1.5 Ah, whilst this hedge-cutter is 2.0Ah (both are 18 volt), and the shapes of both batteries and chargers are completely different. Never mind; I am sure I will enjoy the even longer working time between re-charges bestowed by the 2Ah.

The warranty is for two years, extendable to three on the Bosch website. Some of the instructions in the handbook will be a bit of a mystery unless you happen to find the relevant diagrams, which are at the back of the book (and actually rather good).

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve been wondering about getting a hedge trimmer for some time. The corded ones seem hazardous to me, and I already own a petrol lawn mower, which is good but the petrol is a hastle.
So decided to go cordless, and this is the result. It isn’t anything like as heavy as a petrol specimen I tried, which is a good start. Makes it easier to manipulate, especially overhead.
And most importantly, it cuts well.
My hedge looks much neater. It won’t do the thicker stems (approaching a centimetre in diameter), but that’s OK, I have a set of loppers.
So my garden looks much neater, and my wife is happy.
    Result!

I was perplexed how light this was even with the battery fitted when it arrived. In order to operate you need to held down both triggers and it’ll cut through some fairly thick branches and twigs. The first task I gave it was to remove the ivy off my side of the fence which my neighbour has in their garden and it gets over and though my fence blocking access down the side of my greenhouse. What usually takes a couple of hours with a pair of secateurs, took literally 5 minutes!

Cuts through twigs over 1/2 cm thick with ease, only struggled with green brambles that were over a 1cm thick. Battery that was fully charged cutting through all sorts of garden matter lasted over half an hour. I didn’t think it would be this good so thoroughly pleased so far.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersDue to having an awkward border hedge that is made up of several species and has a drop on the other side which requires use of a stepladder to tend to, hedge cutting is never a very easy activity in our household but it’s one we enjoy. Part of that is because it’s never a job for just one person — one to cut the hedge and the other to hold the ladder when needed and manage the complicated manoeuvring of the extension cord so that the electrically powered cutter can reach everywhere it needs to. It a fun father and son activity for a sunny weekend afternoon, and having a cordless cutter doesn’t make it less so.

I had decided against getting a cordless cutter a while back because I decided I didn’t want a petrol one, but as battery power and capacity have improved, the misgivings I might have had about battery were proved groundless when I used this. Removing a power cord from the situation really liberates you to move about and work as you see fit — not just stay in one place, reposition the lead and continue, then have to go back if you decide you missed some bits. But the real test was that mix of different plants that make up the hedge — I was worried it wouldn’t cope as well, or have that oomph to power through the tough bits, but it copes really well.

I just have one issue I need to caution against, and it’s one that not everyone will have because not everyone has a hedge that towers above their heads in places and is hard to get to in others. (But I would guess that enough people will). To activate the cutter you need to hold both switches at once. This isn’t unusual and is a pretty standard safety feature. However one of the switches — the one at the front — tends to rock a bit in its housing, so that if you squeeze it in the middle it’s fine, but if you squeeze more to the left or right it doesn’t activate. That’s not a problem if you use the tool as you’re supposed to. The thing is that I — rightly or wrongly — have to stretch my arms as I hold the cutter to get to some hard to reach places. This is a stop-start activity — I get into position and then I press the switches — but when you are holding it at an odd angle it can be hard to activate it on first go, and that’s a bit frustrating and something I didn’t have with my other cutter. Of course, I can’t really fault the manufacturer for that when I’m not holding the cutter in the recommended position, even if I do make sure I’m safely positioned — it’s just that difference between textbook use and real life use. Overall summary though? It’s a very decent piece of kit.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFirst up, this is a hedge trimmer, not a chainsaw.

In short, that means this is for trimming or shaping a hedge rather than cutting one down. General rule of thumb, if you can’t cut through something with shears, don’t expect to cut through it with this.

The cutter itself is well made, with a decent battery that doesn’t take too long to charge and it’s certainly a big improvement over my previous similar cutter.

Yes, the price is a little high given that my last one was almost half the price but my previous one also had the battery fail quite quickly and thanks to the universal Bosch battery in this I know that won’t be a problem.

A decent investment for me given that I usually trim my hedges half a dozen times a year so the cost definitely justifies the time saving compared to manually doing it with shears.

This Bosch cordless hedge cutter arrived well packed with good easy to understand instructions. Battery arrived part charged. After 12 hours charging I clipped battery into the cutter, removed the blades safety cover and started to cut by hedge. My normal cutter is a mains version (Bosch too) with a really long power cable. This cordless cutter is so very easy to use. There isn’t a noticeable difference in the strength of the cutting action from battery to cable. Pleased with that.
Cut my medium sized hedge quickly and with comfortable. Cutter isn’t too heavy, nor noisy.
Overall this is an impressive cordless hedge cutter. I am very pleased to recommend.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is my husband’s review as he is head gardener in our family:

The Bosch EasyHedgeCut 18-45 Cordless Hedge Cutter arrived in specifically designed packaging which was recyclable. The blade area has a protective plastic sleeve which, together with the appliance being cordless makes for easy storage.

The battery was partly charged but I followed the advice in the instructions and put it on charge until fully charged which took about an hour.

The hedge cutter came as a real surprise as I had not expected it to trim my mature Box hedge so effortlessly. I also trimmed several conifers, again with ease, despite some of the stems being around 6-8 mm in diameter. I particularly like the fact that the trimmer is cordless, being the veteran of several episodes of cutting through the cable on my existing trimmer; I would like to add that my wife is equally guilty.

An interesting point is that the 18V Lithium-ion battery also fits fit all of my 18V Bosch tools. I also remove the battery when in storage in case any young members of the family should decide to give the trimmer a try.

All praise and no complaints with this appliance – 5 stars!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI previously had a corded electric hedge trimmer – I loved it because you did not have to charge the battery before use – BUT – it was lethal when using on a large hedge up ladders!!! I cut through the cable about 4 times!!!

This is much safer – I did have recharge the battery half way through my 3 hedges – it took about an hour. It gave a really good cut without having to apply too much pressure and it did a great job!

The worse part of cutting any hedge is the clearing up the cuttings when you have finished though!!! Grrr! xx

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersNicely well packaged and only using packaging that is necessary for the trimmer and not a huge unneeded package footprint….thats a star in itself. Inside the box is literally the hedge trimmer, battery and battery charging pack with instruction booklet. The trimmer itself has a lovely meaty holding handle which is excellent as allows you to take a firm control of the trimmer when in use (I felt it was safer with this big handle than other brands I have previously used). The battery came with a charge but is very fast charging on the charging pack. I used this to trim a Laurel Hedge and the edges of a conifer tree. It was quick and very responsive and the trimmers are sharp (so be careful). Trimmer is metal and when in action cuts very well. Easy storage due to having no wires to deal with. I can’t find anything to be negative about! Thats a first for me! Recommend to all needing a simple easy to use hedge trimmer for light garden usage.
