The Bosch app which i download on Tab S am still running test on it still, just the let you know i use this GLM 50c every day for my work and still testing it out from my measuring tape which the Bosch keeps up with. It will take me over 3 months before I can actually trust the Borsch to take over from the tape measure but so far it’s been accurate. This is over 1 month and a week now, even the welders ask me to borrow GLM 50c for checking there angles even though they have the tools. this device is 9 things roll up in one and it’s very good so far. Forget the price ‘just buy it’.

I am an electrician its the best bit of kit I have ever bought no tape dropping down when trying to measure lights. It is really accurate, so far I have used it to measure lighting schemes, set out rooms and mark out electrical circuits. I have even used it to measure skirting boards in my front room. Battery’s don’t seem to last that long but time saved way outweighs that.
The app for measuring from Bosch is a bit simple but there are other apps far better that can be used with it.

Yes, the app can be hit and miss, but I didn’t purchase this to use this app necessarily as I have my own work flow. The device feels incredibly well made, it’s very simple to use and measurements are fast and very accurate. If you’re looking for a professional class laser measure then this is the device you should get.

Superb and accurate measure with lots of extra features. A little tricky to navigate the App, but after some practice, it works well and gives professional pictures of projects with overlaid measurements.

Does everything it says it does pretty well. It does struggle a little outside over distance, but the use of a target paddle and tripod/monopod negates that.
It’s very accurate and easy to use, unlike the app which I found to be clunky and barely useable.
A brilliant product by Bosch. I am totally immersed in using this product around my house and any job that requires measurements. It is very easy to understand and use. very quick access to all the features. having hard buttons is a plus point as it helps to access the features rapidly. Being a professional product the housing is touch with rubber protection, which also helps for grip. I would fully recommend this product to professionals and enthusiasts.

Got mine today. Totally brilliant. Well recommended to any d.i.y fan. Professional or not, this laser measure is so easy to use. One point is that the description says it requires 2 AAA battery’s and are not included…….well it does come with batteries. Well mine did.

Searched for quite some time before making the decision on the GLM 50C.
It does everything you want and more.
I only use it for domestic purposes, but it saves so much time and turns those chore’s into a breeze.
The Bluetooth facility and app are very easy to use and also help’s you achieve precise measurements by using your phone to record for those awkward angle’s. Alternatively using a tripod makes it even easy to avoid those shaky hand measurement’s. The one thing that’s not mentioned on a lot of reviews is the devices ability to measure horizontal to vertical angles in degrees! I required this to calculate the placement of a Dolby Atmos in ceiling speaker at a 45 degree angle from my main listening position in a home cinema set up. The results using this device were perfection every time!
Also made measuring the wood required for a projector screen letterbox plinth an absolute doddle! Photo provided.
Highly recommend and a valuable piece of tech to have in my bag of tools! You won’t regret it.
This really measures up (if you’ll excuse the pun). I have used this in many different situations – it can be a tape measure, put it down on a surface to find out exactly how far from (for example) a wall you are, then move back and forwards to fine tune (the display “scrolls” a bit like a real tape measure). You can switch it to spirit level mode, place it on a surface to see if it is level. Or set it up to measure an angle to make sure that you have two drill holes level, for example. It really is simple to use, and the added bonus of being able to store measurements and export them to an app. I’m very pleased with this, and it has banished my old tape measure to the back of the shed!

I also own a Leica disto 110 and I have to say the bosh glm50 is the one I prefer to use and will only use the Bosch when doing house floor plans.
I often research stuff beyond the point of anal. If your a professional don’t think just buy it!

I am an amateur measurer but was in need of a way of quickly measuring rooms when viewing properties to hopefully buy a first home.
As we all know estate agent measurements are approximate and getting the measuring tape out during a viewing can be tricky and inaccurate.
This laser measure has been great for my basic needs. I can quickly get the dimensions of rooms in the flats I’m viewing and see just how well estimated the floor plans are!
The interface is a little old fashioned in both the the app and on the device, with that on the device being a little like an old Nokia mobile, with little colour icons you have to decode to get the function you want. It works well, but does take a little getting used to, especially if you’re expecting more modern design. If I were to ask for improvements I suppose something like a compass (to note on your plans which was say the north wall or the south facing door) and/or GPS to mark each measurement with an approximate location without you having to add an address (even if it just took the GPS data from your telephone or iPad). That said it works very well without having these things.
In the box you get the measure itself, an instruction sheet, fabric holster with belt loop and a set of AAA batteries for the unit. I’ve been using this for a few days now and they show no signs of running out yet, but I’m not sure how many full working days you might get out of a brace of batteries.
Bish bash bosch! Monster, monster! With a proviso. This is as good as it gets when it comes to this sort of thing. It’s incredibly easy to use, it’s lightweight and compact, and it does everything you would want a professional laser measure to do. The screen is clear and easy to read, it automatically saves the last 30 measurements you’ve taken, and if measuring is your thing, then it’s a must have. The proviso is simply the price. You can get equally good measures for half the price, so you’re paying extra for the brand name and for the app. I must admit I found little need for it, although it worked well enough via bluetooth to my phone. But if you need to store the data in that way, then go fo rit.

Against – nothing much except price. You are undoubtedly paying a premium for the Bosch name as there are generic devices offering the same basic functionality (without the App perhaps) at half the price. However, the App takes this tool to whole different level and you can expect Bosch to maintain and improve it so I’d say that if you are a serious / frequent user then the price difference will be justified. Excellent.
You don’t really need the hefty instruction booklet that comes with this, it’s very intuitive. Press the function button then the + & – to choose the function you want then if required do the same to choose the sub-function then use the red button to make measurements. The height measurement (where it does the trig for you) is very neat .You can also use this for horizontal measurements when a direct line of sight isn’t possible(e.g. standing and pointing at the ground in the distance). The virtual tape measure which gives the distance as you move towards are away from a point is also very clever. It’s also small and looks pretty robust. I’ve not used the integration with a smartphone app but that could be useful for getting measurements off the device.
I have owned one of the cheaper Bosch laser measures for a couple of years and found it to be so much better than a tape measure. More convenient, easier to use and much more accurate over longer distances. This one adds so much more functionality.
Measuring of distances is easy and the display is very clear. You can set the measure to read from the front, rear or centre of the device (a little more on that in a bit). Each setting is clearly indicated on the front LED display, which is bright enough to read in daylight. The keys give good positive feedback and there is a beep which you can select on or off.
This device also does area and volume calculations, with clear indications of the next thing to measure. The last 30 measurements are stored for recall. There is also a very accurate spirit level which allows for horizontal, vertical or flat level measurements. It beeps when level if required. The spirit level also allows a fairly accurate estimation of height of an object from a fixed point on the ground using automatic trigonometry, again the required measurements are clearly displayed. I found this to be accurate to a few centimetres over the height of a room – good enough for estimations.
The Bluetooth function again adds even more functionality. It connected easily to both my iPad and my Android phone. With the Bosch apps, which are free on both devices, you can store results, draw floor plans or overlay photographs with highly accurate measurements. Very useful for amateurs and professionals. It also connected to third party apps such as Home Architect interior designer and provided the same level of functionality.
And all of this is contained in a very small and robust device which comes with a carrying pouch and comprehensive instructions.
Highly recommended.
This is a superb device and one that should be in anyone’s kit regardless of whether your a pro or not. Bosch colour code their tools and blue ones are the professional range.
I’ve used a bosch laser measure before and it’s just so handy, makes taking measurements a doddle and cuts down on arguments if you happen to be doing so with the other half.
The GLM 50 C comes well presented and includes batteries, a smart little pouch and a hefty manual to get going. The unit itself is very well built, with rubberised coroners and edging and the buttons are solid and well sealed.
This is the 50m range one and along with the 100m one, they are the only ones to incorporate Bluetooth and USB connectivity. In use its extremely accurate and the clear colour screen easy to read. It’ll also store your last 30 measurements which is handy. One thing I particularly liked is the inclusion of a level which works very well.
Now the secret sauce of this particular model is bluetooth. Bosch provide somexcellent good document and measure apps and you can sync your measurements to theme. Handily you can knock up a plan and measure straight into the app which is superb.
The GLM 50C is small, weLloyd built and robust and everything is easy and practical to use. Superb tool from Bosch.
Measuring rooms can be seriously difficult, especially if you don’t have 1-2 people to help you.
This laser device by Bosh very much changes this. Pop in the battery and you are met by a sharp colour screen and with only 7 buttons it’s very easy to operate.
You can then choose to simply measure the length of a wall, which it has a range of up to 50m or choose one of the built in options that can tell you the area of a room (already found this so handy when ordering new wooden flooring!!) or use one of the other settings such as measuring out a length repeatedly (useful when putting up posts) or measuring other lengths.
In addition to this, and this is something I was very impressed by, you can use an associated app for your phone that allows you to create digital floor plans and export the files or save measurements. The bluetooth connection was easy to use and it was great not to have to take the device with you or write down measurements when on the go.
The accuracy is pretty impressive, +- 1.5mm so you can be sure to trust the measurements.
The device is also deceptively small and comes with it’s own carrying case so you can easily take it around with you!

Overall very easy to use. My only comment is that it was a little challenging to find the right applications on the Apple store (apps are free of charge) as the instructions didn’t state which ones to download (there are quite a few Bosch apps on the store!).
What we have here is a digital laser measuring device which offers a multitude of options. The operating manual runs to 576 pages but it is printed in 31 languages!
The unit itself is quite compact measuring only 106 x 45 x 24mm deep. It is powered by 2 ‘AA’ batteries, supplied, and comes complete with a sturdy canvas carrying pouch with an integral belt loop. Under ideal conditions it will measure from 0.05 to 50metres.
Pressing the ‘red’ button turns the device on and you are ready to take your first measurement. The unit defaults to measuring from the rear of the device although this can be changed to the front of from the tripod socket. The display screen shows a spirit level on the left hand side so you can ensure that your measurement is taken on the horizontal to avoid errors. Press the ‘red’ button again and the measurement is taken and displayed at the bottom of the screen. The device is turned off by pressing and holding the ‘power’ button near the base.
There are not many measuring tasks that device can’t tackle – areas, volumes, multiple measurements, vertical measurements using angular calculations but you need to spend time with the instruction manual, it is far to extensive to cover in a review like this.
One thing that is worth mentioning though is the fact the the device will connect, via bluetooth, to a tablet, laptop, computer or the like and by downloading Bosch’s free app you can import measurement data straight into the app. There is very little information on using the app given in the instruction manual, it really is a case of downloading it and seeing what it can do.
If you need to measure and calculate from those measurements then this could just be the device for you.
The Bosch GLM 50 C Professional Laser Measure is a middling model in a range of similar devices from Bosch. The number of the model indicates the working range so this model is suitable for measuring up to 50 metres — other models can measure from 30 to 250 metres so choose the one that best meets your requirements. This GLM 50 C is probably the best model to choose for most purposes as it is better featured than than most of the others and unless you really need to measure distances greater than 50 metres this one is by far the best value currently. I was surprised just how useful this product turned out to be — it fully justifies it’s “Professional” tag but is easy enough to use by the average DIYer. The Bluetooth connectivity and the Smartphone Apps — I tried the iOS version — mean you don’t need scraps of paper to record your details and the size is convenient to easily carry around with you. The GLM 50 C is ISO certified ensuring accuracy, it is robust and weatherproof to IP 54 standard and includes the two AAA batteries required to power it. There is a very helpful video on the Amazon Product Page which shows the products main features and ease of use — well worth watching. Although you could buy a laser measure for around a quarter of the price of this Bosch model you are unlikely to get the build quality and features of the GLM 50 C for any less. Currently around ninety pounds from Amazon this measure gets a full stars for features and value at the price — highly recommended.

This is a great little device, which carries out its one task, of taking measurements, brilliantly and without fuss. The controls and display are all fairly intuitive, and it starts up and shuts down quickly. It measures reliably, even over long distances, in bright sunlight. The only thing it can’t handle is glass or other very shiny surfaces. It easily adds, subtracts and multiplies measurements, as required, as well as performing simple trigonometry. Personally, I don’t need the Bluetooth link, but I did pair it successfully with a tablet, and tried out the floorplan app, which seemed pretty straightforward to use. If I were to find any negatives, it would only be that it’s a bit of squeeze fitting it back in its holster, especially if you try to keep the simply instruction crib sheet in there too. But, really, it’s pretty much perfect.
You can get cheap laser measuring devices for a few pounds. This one is like them, in exactly the same way that a sports car is like a bicycle. As an example of the difference, we had one such cheap device which was fine for measuring approximately how far a wall was. This device enables you to measure the length of an A4 sheet of paper and get it exactly right to the millimetre. It includes full trigonometry, so it can calculate the height of a wall (for example) by measuring the distance to the bottom, the distance to the top, and the angle between them. It also does area and cubic volume.
Controls are button based, rather than touchscreen, with good sealing so you don’t need to worry about a bit of damp. It can also be controlled entirely by smartphone, which is easier than working through the menus. When used with the smartphone, it records all your measurements and enables you to share them with someone else. The app also allows you to include contact and project information, and to put the project logo on. There is a courtesy calculator built in, so you can work on your measurements without leaving the app. It covers squares, square roots and reciprocals.
Most interestingly, you can take a picture of what you are measuring and then use the app to mark on what the dimensions are, and then share this as a PDF. Documenting measurements was never so easy before.
It can be mounted on a camera tripod, and you can also set whether it measures from the back of the device (default) or the front.
There are obviously thousands of tasks which can be achieved with this device which would otherwise require measurement and calculations. Ease of use means you can get things right that you would otherwise be tempted simply to guess at, and document things properly afterwards.
This GLM 50 C Professional Laser Measure is the middle of the range from Bosch, and I think it represents the best all round value. So unless you really need more than 50m range, this gives you pretty much all you need in a very compact. Light and competitive package. Very easy to pick up and use, don’t be put off by the manual included which being in many languages weighs in as being a lot heavier than the tool itself.
This one has Bluetooth which is handy, and something I have used more than I thought I would. It can do the sums to do volume and area measurements, has an incline sensor and can also do USB transfer if your plans are on a laptop without Bluetooth. It really is very simple to use, and as long as you can get it level, gives an amazing degree of accuracy over long distances. You have to go up to the GLM100C to get all these features, and that costs double.
Overall this is a great little tool, in a compact and robust package. Powered by a couple of AAA’s (included), which seem to last. Bright enough to use outdoors. Good for professionals and DIY. Recommended.
