First of all I am a rubbish DIY’er. Having moved into a house that was built around 1865 and was owned by an elderly couple there is sadly a lot of DIY needed. Putting up shelves, curtain rails and taking tiles off the walls to name a few.
My old power drill is about 25 years and is pretty rubbish, it has a hammer drill setting but that is as fancy as it gets. My wife persuaded me to invest in a new drill. I was reluctant to spend another handful of cash on something I already owned, I mean, how different can a new drill be?
Well…… It is as different as my old van to Lewis Hamilton’s racing car! They will both get you from A to B but the Lewis’s car will get you there a touch faster and make your life a whole lot more fun in the process.
This drill first of all has a trigger control to start it slowly, squeeze harder and it goes faster so it means an idiot like me can actually make a hole where it is meant to be and not have the drill bit slide off to somewhere it wants to make a hole.
Secondly, it has power, I mean real punch through this brick, stone or cement like it is soft cheeses. Changing the drill bits is easy, apparently it is because they are SDS ( I had no idea what that actually meant).
Overall, I could not be happier with this, well yes I could, it could be shiny! But quite seriously, this is one good drill, it makes light of any drilling jobs we have, I have taken tiles off a loo wall and then looked for more destruction to reap.
Only thing is, you REALLY need ear defenders, it is noisy otherwise it is bloody brilliant.

After burning out my dewalt SDS drilling sleepers for fixing (13mm rail pins) so a 6mm hole then a 13mm hole through old sleepers.

This was so much more able to drive the auger bits through, making everything faster and there was no drill overheating.

Used as a brick breaker, and this was less vibrations coming compared to the old SDS

This is a mighty rotary hammer, with a decent bit it just eats through anything, loads of power, no hassle with anything I’ve thrown at it including using the hammer only mode and a chisel for tidying up rough concrete.

This is an excellent drill, if you were thinking about buying it and you were undecided then go ahead and buy it!

AMAZING! You will not find a better sds/hammer drill in its price range. I have used this to break up some serious materials and it has done so with ease. Another great product from Bosch!

The Bosch professional line are second to none and this drill is no exception! It is ready to lock and load in mere seconds and will power through anything you throw at it. This also applies to the chisel function which will blast through any material like it isn’t even there! Even if you don’t need this drill, buy it, it’s awesome!

OK… this is not a baby “hip holster” sized “use it for casual DIY” kinda drill, it is a beast… BUT… is goes through reinforced concrete lintels like butter, I’ve never had such a cool effective drill. Good percussion force too for the money. Bought this and one of the bosch professional 12v drill/hammer drivers (swappable battery version) at the same time, the perfect companion set in my opinion. 12v for assembling furniture and blasting fixings in to modern walls, sds for showing the tougher stuff who is boss. Can’t believe I lived without an SDS of this size for all these years!

Value for the money, you have the extra chuk for the wood or metal drill bits very sturdy not heavy to use powerful grate case for it but sds bits but not worrie you can purchase these from anywhere love tool it’s

A powerful tool which is easy to use and change tools and chucks. It’s surprising how much better it is than my old hammer drill with the SDS system stopping drill slipping and it’s easy to change chucks from SDS to standard. The standard chuck is keyless and again easy to open, close and remove although I haven’t used it in hammer mode.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSimply this is a good drill. Perhaps I’ve been too used to my Black and Decker for over 20 years but when that gave up I thought I’d go for this one as it was similarly priced (accounting for inflation). It doesn’t come with any drill bits but I recommend as a starter pack to go for the Bosch Professional 11 piece SDS.
I’ve been doing a lot of work on my house and had I had my previous drill it would’ve been difficult. The drill effortlessly drill into sandstone and then solid brick just as simply without jamming. I used the chisel and SDS setting to hammer out a channel for replacing a cable. I was able to install plantation shutters onto an extremely difficult wall. This drill just went through each job like, “Is that the best you’ve got? Pah!”
The changing of the chuck is simple, they simply pull off by holding one part of the drill to release the chuck with the other hand. It’s important to apply grease to the inside of the chuck that attaches to the drill but that’s all in the instructions.
There are more expensive drills out there which probably do more, but I’m a DIYer and home mechanic who’s also doing some welding jobs and this drill so far (although heavy) is perfect.

Solid heavy and more than capable for my jobs in the house and workshop

Purchased the GBH2-26F and looked at reviews a lot so I mention the following as likely points of interest:
Chose 2-26F as it comes with 2 quick change chucks – one SDS Plus and one for all the straight shank drill bits you already have. You can change chucks whilst leaving the drill bit in place if you need or want to.
    It is made in Germany.
It came in a (large) blue plastic case.
Mine arrived in good order with no damage and an intact seal on the case confirming it had not been opened.(Sold by Amazon).
It has a long, very flexible lead.
Used so far for chasing out for electrical back boxes and wiring in very hard brick.
Very impressed with the hammer function and this certainly speeded up the job.
Liked that the Chuck can be locked with the Chuck and bit rotated to suit (when hammering).
Only tried to use once (so far) to drive a masonry bit into brick – it didn’t impress so much here – seems to be a function of speed/rpm (or maybe a blunt bit). A much cheaper “green” Bosch drill drove the same bit without issue.
The drill is fairly heavy (equates with quality/strength in my mind) – it is a little unbalanced in that the weight is more noticeable at the the front.
I really like this tool overall and am pleased that it does what I need really well.
(Not sure why Amazon reviews want me to rate it for “thickness” but gave it 5 stars to reflect general happiness!).

Bought in preference to a cheaper, more powerful but much heavier alternative. Having used heavy ones before, I feel that this is much more likely to be used and easier to hall up ladders etc, but I wouldn’t attempt anything too heavy with it. So far it’s fine for 30mm hole in brick plus some 8mm into hard concrete

unfortunately the hand holder that allows the distancer to hold doesn’t do a good job. Other than that, smooth but very-very loud job.

This is a great drill. It’s beautifully made, smooth and quiet in operation (for a SDS drill) and drives through brick, concrete or breeze blocks like a knife through butter. The quick chuck change mechanism is simplicity itself. Cannot fault it.

Seems sturdy. Been opening up an old fireplace with it. Chisel mode is great for going through plaster and mortar around bricks.
As a hammer drill it’s way stronger and quicker than the old general purpose drill with a hammer function.

Fantastic bit of kit. I’ve had a 110 version for years I’ve used on site and for various jobs around the house and bought separately a SDS to standard keyed chuck for adapting to non SDS bits (used for a plaster mixing paddle) so the speed adaptor chuck included that performs this function is a great addition. Once cut 4 number 4″ cores through a 2ft concrete wall with no bother. Highly recommend. Some reviews mention the box doesn’t open fully which let’s it down which is true to a point, but the box is still well made and its not the box being used to drill or chisel your project so its a very, very minor thing for me. Buy it if you need a good, hard working reliable tool.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBy far the best electric drill I’ve ever purchased. I’ve always bought dewalt tools, but when I looked at the spec of this electric Bosch drill with it’s quick change chuck at a reasonable price, I just couldn’t resist buying and trying it out. Well it didn’t disappoint… drilled a hole in a 9″ 8″ solid concrete lintel in seconds, hammer chiselled tiles off like a hot knife through butter ( which had been cemented on to a wall ). I was so happy with my purchase that I brought another to keep in my workshop as a spare.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersBosch Professional GBH 2-26 F Corded 240 V Rotary Hammer Drill with SDS Plus. Make sure you are clear on which one you are buying! This is the SDS with the quick change chuck so you can still use the regular type bits as well. Had an old Bosch hammer drill and as a female DIYer I was worried was this just “too big”. Yes, it’s big, and yes it’s a little heavy, but it’s fantastic for concrete etc. You can insert/change the drill bit very quickly and with one hand which makes it very easy to use! I also bought a cheaper Bosch cordless for small light jobs.
Update: brilliant drill but don’t bother going for this one with the interchangeable chuck because you if you go SDS you will never go back!!

I rarely write reviews on products but in this case I felt I had to. I borrowed a Makita hammer drill as the walls in my house are like granite, the drill wouldn’t touch it even with new good quality bits. I bit the bullet and purchased my own..the Bosch GBH 2-26F and I was blown away, I also purchased some SDS bits and it went though the wall like butter with minimal effort. I was actually amazed how easy it did the job.. also for the little extra money buy the F model as you get a standard chuck also for the “normal” straight shank bits.

This product (I got the 2-26F) is relatively light weight, is easy to handle and for the size it packs a great punch. Came a little early and was immediately tested and put to work. I have had it for about 6 months now and have no complains. You can’t go wrong with the german made Bosch.
Only personal knit pick is that the keyless check makes a rachetting sound like many others but i can’t stand it. Apart from that, I would highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersAmazing drill. I don’t normally leave reviews for items but felt compelled to for this drill. I own two other drills one other being a decent hammer drill. Even with good bits it could not drill into the solid concrete ceiling or old super hard Victorian brick work. I bought this SDS plus drill and the Bosch professional SDS plus concrete bits. I went for the version that included the quick change Chuck so you can still use the regular type bits as well as SDS plus.
The drill and bits went into my concrete ceiling and brickwork like butter with minimal effort and minimal noise. I didn’t even have to lean into the drill so using it was a pure joy.
The power lead is a decent length so haven’t needed an extension so far.
There have been a few negative reviews about the case. Yes it only opens to 90 degrees. It really isn’t an issue at all. There’s compartments for a couple of accessories and clips inside the lid for a drill bit case. It’s solid. Does the job.
    Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis was my first SDS drill buy, to help with installing a tumble dryer vent, using a 117mm core bit.
As an avid Bosch fan and buyer of other power tools, I had high expectations for the drill to perform well. It didn’t let me down and without it, I’d have been lost, as you really need an SDS with safety clutch, when using core bits of the above size. Overall, delighted with the purchase, price paid and after registering with Bosch on-line, I now have a 3 year guarantee. I can highly recommend this drill to any DIY’er or tradesman.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersOne year in review. Great drill, no qualms at all as it’s put up with everything I’ve thrown at it. The box is infuriating though. It’s been designed to open at 90 degrees and stay there. If it goes past 90 degrees to 180, as shown in the picture, then you have a problem, the box won’t close without taking the hinge rod out. If you try to force it closed, it stresses the plastic and won’t close. I’m missing a hinge rod on one side which might be making it worse, how has that come out?! Annoying! If you’re going to make a box, make it well, it devalues what’s a good product.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe drill is superb and the quick change chuck is easy to to use. Lot of torque when using augers in green oak. I have not used the chisel function yet. I was disappointed with the Amazon delivery though as the seal on the drill case had been broken and the quick change chuck and depth gauge were rattling around in their respective compartments in the case. This gave me the impression the drill was not new and had been previously returned. I confirmed this with Bosch. Had I not needed it urgently I would have returned it for a replacement. A matter of principal.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersFirstly let me start by saying that the equivalent powered 18v counterpart is just as powerful. That’s where the differences stop this has a much higher torque and therefore the drill just plows though any surface it’s build quality is second to none. You might as well get the quick change chuck version as for that little bit extra it’s 100% worth it. If you doing decking or screwing anything where you can point the drill down the weight and high torque just makes light effort compared to a standard cordless

    High quality
