Bosch Styline TWK8631GB Variable Temperature Cordless Kettle, 1.5 Litres,3000W – White [Energy Class A+]

Extremely pleased with this kettle. Love the styling, it takes up less room on the counter than any kettle I’ve previously owned. It’s easy to remove and place on the stand. The lid springs open a little sharply but its not a problem. Quick to heat up and not too noisy. Useful beep to remind you it’s finished heating.

Our original kettle was half the price of this kettle and was very noisy while reaching its boiling point. So, I was hoping that, among other things, this kettle would be much quieter. However, I was quite disappointed in that respect, as it is almost as loud as my previous kettle.
Having said that this kettle has so much better quality, and has a great selectable feature that will keep the boiled water hot, for up to half an hour – ready for your second cup?
Apart from the unexpected ‘loudness’ issue, while boiling, the only other ‘fault’ we’ve experienced is that after 3 days regular useage the refill lid wouldn’t open when pressing the button. This seems to be resolved by pressing gently with your thumb near the hinge as you press the large opening button.
Overall, we’re very happy with our purchase.

Looks the part on the kitchen worktop, it boils very quickly and has a nice audible noise once it has boiled in case you walk away and forget. Keep warm feature is handy though has to be pressed before switching the kettle which is a bit disappointing as you always need to know ahead of time that you are going to want to keep the water warm. Only other downside is that its difficult to see the water amount whilst filling but overall its a great kettle.

Looks great, very stylish. Works extremely well and efficiently. The different temperature modes and keep warm facility are a great asset i use them all the time. I keep the temperature guide handy to refer to. Very light and easy to keep clean which is a must for me as i live in a hard water area.

Absolutely love this kettle best one I’ve had to date. Some might think it’s a bit much to spend on a kettle but it has been worth every penny. It’s quick boil, energy efficient as far as I can see, low noise even a little beep to let u know it’s boiled. Seems larger than my previous buys but that just gives me more reason to drink more. My previous kettle was a Bosch but it began to leak about 12 months after I purchased. I continued using the kettle for some time but eventually decided it wasn’t really very safe to have a leaking kettle. I was going to order the same model again as I really loved it, it had a large water capacity and it fitted my kitchen decor perfectly. However when I read the reviews on Amazon it was apparent that the leak must be a design fault and many, many people had experienced leaking from this kettle. So I ordered the Bosch Model TWK89633GB instead. This kettle looks similar to my previous model but has a smaller water capacity. However, the main feature is IT DOESN’T LEAK.

Don’t normally get excited by a kettle but this Bosch is excellent!
I cannot comment on durability, only had it two days, but the build quality, the quietness of the actual water heating operation and the clean water flavour are all excellent.
The variable temperatures has already changed my wife’s view of coffee and the facility to keep water at the correct temperature has already proved useful.
All in all, a great kettle at a reasonable cost.

Reviewing the kettle almost 3.5 years since purchasing there have been zero faults. The lid still opens easily and it still boils somewhat accurately quickly. I say somewhat as I would describe it from day one, ie this isn’t a scientific instrument!

Built like a tank, the majority problems I’ve read people are having / asking are 100% user errors.

We regularly descale it as we live in a hard water area and we use filtered water in it. The only way I can see this being replaced before it breaks through age is when we upgrade to an instant hot/cold water system or a more accurate kettle for coffee.

This kettle is ideal for those who have weak hands or the shakes. It is completely insulated allowing it to be supported and the sides held immediately after boiling. Excellent choice of temperatures, ideal for certain teas, coffees etc that don’t require boiling water. I already had this kettle and bought this one for my parents. They love it! This newer version is improved, the button on top is larger and is much easier to open. The controls are on the base, rather than the kettle itself, easier for failing eyes too.

Love this kettle! It isn’t any more noisy than othe kettles and the beep isn’t like a fire alarm going off, which reading other reviews I was a bit unsure about.. it’s just 2 beeps that you could only hear in the same room. The water gauge is a bit dark but it’s just as easy to open the lid and look in. Really pleased, looks nice and works a charm. Only real downside is the cord isn’t massively long, much shorter than other kettles so had to rearrange worktops a bit.

Having bought a couple of temperature controlled kettles that have let me down in the past 12 months I was careful when choosing another. I went for a Bosch because of their good name for reliability and I disregarded most of the negative comments in the reviews for the product. And I’m glad I did as it works perfectly for me, reaching the required temperature quickly, it’s not too noisy, it looks smart and it’s not too big.

Bought this to replace a disappointing, overpriced Brabantia kettle that broke far too quickly.

It’s plastic, which I thought I would dislike, but to be fair it’s a high quality plastic and doesn’t affect the water taste at all, plus it doesn’t heat up dangerously like most metal ones. The boil is very fast, and you can set it to a few temperature presets other than boiling for coffee, hot water bottles etc. There’s also a keep warm function that holds the temperature just below boiling though I’d rather just time things better than use electricity unnecessarily. Oh yeah, and it beeps when it’s done, so no more listening out for the click of the switch. Top feature in my book. Overall, very good.

Husband chose this kettle as he does not like “boring” looking ones! We have had 2 glass Russell Hobbs kettles in the past but eventually the lid handle becomes loose and the screw rusts. After reading reviews about this one we bought it and are not disappointed. The beeping when you switch it on and when it boils is not too loud as some people mentioned, and we quite like the fact that we are alerted when it’s boiled. Very fast boiling and not too noisy. Quieter than our last kettles.

This kettle is a new purchase as I write this however I had this kettle before and the previous one lasted for many years. Two years ago I finally had to replace it and I thought I would try something different – I wish I hadn’t as it lasted less than two years! This one is very simple to use, it has a very rapid boil. You can set the temperature at 70/80/90 or 100 or just take it off when it reaches the temperature as the numbers light up as it reaches the temperature. I often do coffee at 90. The handle is soft grip rubber on the inside. it has a easy push button to open the lid. If you take the kettle off before it reaches 100 when you replace it – it does not continue boiling again which is a bonus. Look well made – pours easily and I hopefully this one will last as long as the last one.

This kettle is great. It is quiet, pours well without dripping, can be filled to precise amounts, is very energy efficient and most importantly saves me lots of money. I did the following measurements and comparisons with our old, cheap, basic kettle. I drink a lot of coffee (decaf) in my large 0,5L mug. In the Bosch kettle I can fill it precisely to the last drop filling the mug. I have to slightly overfill the cheap kettle as it’s difficult to judge. Both use about 2,600W in the process. As it’s for coffee I set the Bosch kettle to 70C, which takes 47 seconds until it turn itself off. The cheap kettle takes 108 seconds until it turns itself off. I drink about 26 mugs per week and assuming I pay 0.15 per kWh I save 8.10 per year with the Bosch kettle over what I would have paid with the cheap one. And that’s not including all the other times we use it. I hope to get at least 4 years’ service out of it (I hope for more, but let’s just take 4 here), so that’ll save me 32.40 over four years. Give it one more year of service and it will have paid for itself!!! Pretty perfect.

We love this kettle. we bought it about 6 months ago and (as coffee snobs) have enjoyed the security of knowing we’re always pouring the right temperature water over our freshly ground beans. I know it’s tragic, but not sure what else you’d want the temperature control for. The beep is fine, I’ve looked at some other reviews and not sure what the fuss over the beep is all about. If you care about the temperature of the water to within 10 degrees, it’s surely good to have it beep when it gets there!

Never used the “keep warm” function (we don’t drink that much coffee). Also, it’s a good looking kettle, easy to fill and nice to pour. Go on, treat yourself.

THE best kettle I have ever owned.

Aside from the fact that it looks smart, this kettle is the very best I have ever used. Why?

Comfy handle, easy grip
Easy open lid, just tap the central button and it flips open
Keep warm facility
Choice of temperatures if you prefer water hot but not boiling.
Good capacity, when full more then I need.
Easy on and off the stand
Easy to fill
Beeps to tell you it has finished
Easy to clean

Downsides?
Tends to catapult the water out of the spout but once you get used to the ‘delivery line’ it works just fine and you get used to it quickly.
BEEPS when you turn it on. LOUDLY. BEEPS when it turns off, also LOUDLY. Not fun at 3am, but other times brilliant and lets you know when they kettle has finished boiling.

Other than the noise and having to get used to it, this kettle is perfect!

This is a good looking kettle that looks modern in the corner of a kitchen.
It boils quickly and has the great benefit of allowing the temperature at which it turns of to be set at 70, 80,90 or 100 degrees C. ( for tea, coffee oritheruses). It also has a beep which sounds when the kettle turns off. This is surprisingly useful as a reminder.
The kettle stays cool to the touch even after it has boiled and it is also quite stable given the base which is larger than the kettle. This should make it safer with small children around.
Downsides-
1. After 12 months the kettle has started to make a whistling sound when boiling and the lid has started to occasionally spring open while being boiled. This may just be due to lime scale buildup.
2. The kettle only boils 1.5 litre’s where previous kettles have boiled 1.8 lire’s – this means the kettle sometimes needs to be boiled twice
Overall this is a very good kettle

Safe to say this kettle provides me with these needs. Large capacity and also plenty of power when it comes to boiling quickly. It also looks great and goes with the decor of Bear’s kitchen. Safe to say I pretty much agree with all of the other positive points made by the other reviewers so I won’t reiterate these. There’s just a couple of issues:

1. It doesn’t always switch off quickly when boiling and water tends to shoot from the spout. This can be a particular issue if you’ve filled it really full. For example, if Bear requires water to steam his vegetables and then more water to boil rice it tends to shower boiling water over the kitchen work tops.
2. The water level indicator can be difficult to read. This is especially a problem if it’s steamed up if you’ve been doing some serious heavy boiling of water one after another. – This is perhaps why Bear tends to overfill the kettle – I can’t easily read when it’s too full.

Unlike other reviews I have read about this kettle suffering with a sticking lid, my household have not experienced this problem which might be due to handling the lid in a gentle and respectful fashion. The way it’s designed only needs a light touch to engage the catch when closing and the same goes for when opening the lid by means of the large centre button. The revolutionary design of the controls located in the base prevents the need to put your hands in the vicinity of the steam to change the temperature of the water when switched on. The audible beep when switched on and when it switches itself off is a very useful item, which allows the user to do other things whilst the water reaches the desired setting, instead of watching it boil or returning to the kettle and having to switch it back on again. Another very good point is the ability to set the water temperature to the desired heat 70, 80, 90, 100 degrees for whatever it is you are making plus there is also a keep warm button. I therefore, give this kettle the highest rating possible and would without any doubts whatsoever thoroughly recommend its purchase.

This is a lovely looking, sturdy kettle. It keeps itself quite clean, heats up very quickly and beeps loud enough for you to know when it’s done from another room.
I would never fill it up to the top anyway so probably wouldn’t have the issues other reviewers have mentioned about it spouting out the top.
I should also mention that it goes brilliantly with my white bosch toaster and microwave with their lovely shiny whiteness…

I bought this after reading the great reviews it had received. It arrived very quickly – I ordered it on a Monday evening and it came on Wednesday morning! It looks great and works very well, boiling water very quickly. The loud beeps at start and finish are a bit disconcerting at first and I don’t know why I need a beep when I put it on. The beep at the end is very handy though if you are out of the room. There is a small issue with the water gauge as the handle obscures it slightly but if you hold it at the right angle its not a problem. I am using the different temperatures, 90 for coffee and 80 for my hot water bottle – perfect. It looks like a solid piece of kit but only time will tell as most kettles don’t pass the longevity test.

I use this kettle without the slightest concern that it might not deliver what Bosch claims it will deliver. So I really wonder what the negative comment writers are doing.

Things can of course go wrong on any electrical item, but Bosch UK Customer Service is impeccable. My Bosch most certainly is a lot quieter than my previous kettle, (from a good, “traditional”, British brand). The choice of desired temperature is such a boon, with instant coffee immediately at a drinkable temperature, for just one example. Also not heating the water more than necessary gives serious reductions on the amount of electricity used. I have never used the “keep warm” function, because the twin-wall construction is very effective at retaining the heat. How on Earth anyone can struggle to open the lid is totally beyond me: one quick, light tap and the lid opens every time.

I suppose some people invent problems to get the strange satisfaction of knocking a prestige brand, and that some people do prefer wailing on the web to making a simple telephone call to Bosch UK Customer Service. My satisfaction comes quite simply from using an excellent product. I hope everyone who buys this kettle, or receives it as a gift, gets the same satisfaction; I honestly cannot see why they would not.

The time had come to replace an adequate but noisy and rather spiteful kettle when it was at boiling point. (A bit like my mother-in-law.[Am I allowed to say that? It isn’t true, either. She was OK])

Reading the reviews, and being Bosch biased with other products, I decided to take the plunge and pay the cost. So glad that I did. It is good to look at, a delight to use and a pleasure to have in the kitchen. It is the only kitchen item that the children and grand children have ever queued up to ‘have a go’ with. Of course, for them, the originality soon wore off – but I am happily boiling and brewing away – or getting to whatever temperature of heating is required, with easy to read and manage amounts of water and heating levels needed.

The kettle looks good, feels like quality, is slick in operation, isn’t overly noisy, and safe to use – unless one chooses to put one’s hand under the spout when pouring out.

In our hard-water area the filter is useful. Yes, it is quite costly, but I think it is worth the difference. It assists in making a belting cup of tea and coffee as well.

Do I recommend it? You bet I do.
