Excellent tripod and ball head at a fantastic price.. Recommended
This is a good option as a travel tripod.
The quality is OK, but it’s not 200 pounds, so it’s ok value. It folds up well and the only smaller ones are awful.
Peak design looks even better but it’s a lot more.
I have had 4 tripod before, a cheap noname, a Benro, a mini Chinese, and a Manfrotto. What I can say is Chinese tripod has improved it quality a lot for the last few years. About this tripod specifically, i find the material and build quality is super. Can’t find anything to complain to be honest.
An excellent value for money tripod. It is very sturdy and easy to use.
It is what you see ,very good materials ,well made and feels strong & reliable . Set it up in the house ,but as yet I have not been outside with it ! Love the orange on it . Attaching your DSLR on and off is simple and fast !
This is a very sturdy tripod and convenient that I can transfer it into a monopod as well. This all comes in a handy bag to carry. So far I’ve only used this the once and was perfect on a windy day to take a photo of the sea blowing up over the pier.
I wanted an extra-tall tripod to spare my viewers an up-close view of the underside of my hairy nostrils. Mission accomplished! The Geekoto is very solidly built, nice and tall, and feels very secure when positioned. I’m upgrading from a tiny little Vivitar aluminum tripod — so the Geekoto feels a little heavy after that, but I’d expect it to. It’s a lot more tripod in every way. I love the ball head. I love how each joint has a specific little tightener to keep it in place. I’m looking forward to using the low-angle configuration, though right now I’m only using it set very tall. The quick-release feels solid and is much less fiddly than the previous tripod.
Excellent value, light and easy to adjust with ball and single-twist locking device. Short of buying carbon fibre version this meets most needs.
Decided to try this tripod as I needed a small portable tripod that I could put in my carry on luggage on a plane. This tripod has worked so well it’s now my main tripod and has replaced my big bulky video tripod. Another perk is it has a fluid head for panning the camera, it’s smooth with no jumps or bumps. One con though is the head where the camera mounts to the tripod, it’s made of plastic and I don’t think it will withstand the test of time. Other than that though well worth the money in my opinion.
Well mage and easy to use, very stable in windy conditions
I was pretty skeptical at first because I had never heard of the brand before but I actually really like this tripod. I have only used it for portrait work so far, but I am more of a landscape photographer but from what I can tell it seems sturdy enough for taking into the wild and is light enough to carry too. I am very happy with it! 🙂
Excellent tri-pod and have replaced this with my old one. Best trip-pod I’ve had!
Very happy with this item. Does what it says… And honestly the quality is better than I imagined
When the legs are fully extended they do flex a bit as the legs are quite thin but I do like the tripod it is good quality and the ball head is really nice
Bought as a Christmas gift and receiver very pleased with the tripod construction and how light it is.
Got this as a gift for my dad and he LOVES it!
It’s sturdy, holds well, VERY TALL but also shrinks down and its relatively lightweight.
So worth the money!
If you want a high tripod that also allows desktop use then I recommend this! I am so glad I got this
well this is a very tall tripod, and easy to carry and very nice to use
Great product – used for supporting a camera, tablet, battery and attachments weighing approx 3kgs. Sturdy & adaptable height settings are perfect.
Very nice tripod, very well made and sturdy but also lightweight. Nothing to dislike.
Amazing value tripod, being 6ft 5 i no longer have to bend down. Superb height adjustment and at full height (where i actually have a hard time looking up to see the camera screen) its a first for me with tripods, thats how high it actually goes, above a door frame easily.
Very easy to adjust and use the ballhead moves smoothly and quickly to adjust angles, the leg adjustments are quick and solid with the quick release clips, feels solid when the camera is attached, and very lightweight when carrying to a location.
Only downside is when having it at full height (which wont be very often) the legs feel a little overstretched and unsteady.
Great tripod, just a bit wobbly when it’s at it’s highest form.
Use the product for leveling laser and it work brilliantly.
Best value in tall and light tripod. Made of aluminium, and strong enough to hold SLR and large zoom lens. Folds short enough to fit in weekend bag.
This is a really nice Tripod with lots of features and adjustments at a most competitive price.
I love it and would recommend it most highly!!
Great tripod, strong but light too. Would definitely recommend to a friend
The adjustable options are great enabling me to do ICM images and Infrared.
Fantastic tripod, have had no issues at all, really impressed very sturdy and reliable
I am photographing over ten years using tripods and this tripod it’s very impressive. All around generally great value for money, travel carrier bag included. Definitely recommending
I cannot say much about the tripod oasis it’s a give for someone and have not tested it yet, I have taken a look at it and it seams of strong construction and well buil
Prompt delivery. Well made. Just what I wanted for the right price.
I have been out shooting panoramas with my new tripod this weekend and I found it very capable and very versatile. The ball head is smooth in operation, fully extended it is very tall and once you understand how it all works its easy to use. With the legs at full extension it is not the most stable tripod, but I found I could use it very successfully with only the top three sections extended – so making it more stable. I think for the price it is a very good tripod and I am very pleased with my purchase.
Q 1/ What did you like or dislike?
Liked everything and disliked nothing.
This is a great tripod! I really can’t see how other brands justify their ludicrous prices. For me this covers all the bases.
Q 2/ What did you use this product for?
Landscape photography in both portrait and landscape mode. The bracket led me to discover what I’d not even come across before. The ‘L’ Bracket. This is a feature that my previous tripods had not had, and makes switching from Landscape to portrait and vice versa as easy as it possibly can be.
I would have no hesitation recommending this tripod.
This is a very nice travelling tripod. It is light, sturdy, and strong. I have found that attaching some weight to the provided hook gives that extra stability when the tripod is extended fully. The ball head is excellent it holds my pro body with a 50 500 mm lens with no noticeable creep. The head comes with a protective cover and all is kept together in a strong shoulder bag. For this price point it is an excellent travel tripod. It will not however replace my Manfrotto tripod for more robust work. It is a rock, and it is as heavy. I did make one modification to the ball head and that was to change the clamp assembly to Manfrotto rc2 Easy enough to do.
I purchased this tripod to use mostly in my new studio. I needed something sturdy and durable, but lightweight and easy to use, as most of my studio shoot subjects are children and babies.
Having now used this for a few sessions, I am not disappointed with my choice. It fulfills the main requirments that I have and has a few additional features that make it adaptable to take with me on location shoots.
For all of its outstanding plus points, there are just two things to say against this tripod.
1) There is no quick release to remove camera once attached
2) Despite having a great swivel head, with angle markers allowing for very accurate panoramic shots, there is no arm to turn the camera with. This makes it more difficult to get a fluid pan shot when filming
Those points in mind, it is more suited to taking stills than video, unless you are capturing static shots. However, the plus points far outweigh these and I would highly recommend this tripod to anyone looking for quality, without the budget for the likes of a Manfrotto.
Great lightweight and stable tripod. It comes in a durable case too, that’s easy to carry. Perfect for my DSLR camera.
I have only used the tripod twice during a photography course. I’m pretty happy with it. The only con, but not a big deal, it’s that it’s bigger than I thought, and only fits in my backpack at an angle. Everything else good though.
It’s heavier than expected but this makes it very stable as used it when windy and still managed to get good pics
Been using this for about a month now, really like it, light weight, very versatile with many options for height & base.really well made & simple to use, robust & looks really good as well.extremely happy with my purchase.the flexibility of use makes this a really useful piece of kit, this has now became my go to tripod.the option of having a removable mono-pod is very handy.five star product, will be looking into more products by Geekoto.
Only used it a couple of times.
Seems to be a well made quality tripod.
Been using my tripod for a few weeks, holding my dslr and my action camera.
It has a solid well produced feel to it.
Happy with my purchase.
Very good value for money – Sturdy enough to hold my D810 and 24-70mm F2.8 Nikon lens for some long exposure photography. The Ball Head supported my L Bracket without any problems..
I’ve used it just once but can confirm that this tripod is so user friendly. No need to be fiddling about trying to work out how it works! I love the quality of the materials, how compact it is and most importantly how sturdy it is! I guess the only thing I would prefer is if there was a carbon fibre option.
I would recommend it any day and I’m sure this will be my go to tripod now.
I am impressed with this, the extending centre column is something Ive not seen before and that impressed me the most. It goes taller than me and I’m 5″8. Its lightweight and sturdy enough at this price point. Just need to get out and use it! Not sure how the plastic column adjusters would hold up in extreme weathers but overall a good produc
It is an excellent tripod. Especially for the price. I was pleasantly surprised by how high it goes once fully extended. And it is reasonably sturdy at full extension.
Quite easy and quick to operate and holds my 6D Mk II with 16-35 f2.8 which is quite a heavy setup perfectly.
The tripod head is decent enough but I use it with my manfrotto pro head.
Overall a great product at a fraction of the cost of a manfrotto or a gitzo. Definitely recommend if you are on a budget.
I travel around a lot for work and landscape photography and have always struggled to find an easily transportable yet sturdy tripod. Geekoto has come up with the solution in the form of this tripod and at an excellent value for money.
The tripod collapses down small, making it great for travelling with. The included ball head has large adjustment knobs, allowing for easy operation year round, foam leg coverings providing you the ability to not freeze your hands off during the colder months also. A sturdy set up easily holding my gear with some of my larger and heavier lens on and still a good ability to pan and move the head with the right amount of resistance.
I was impressed with the speed and ease conversion into a monopod is and the thoughtfully placed hook to add a bag for extra stabilisation. The height the tripod can extend to is a very helpful feature, and it does so whilst remaining a high level of stability.
Overall if you are looking for a sturdy, well built and aesthetically pleasing tripod at a great price then look no further, Geekoto have the perfect solution and one I highly recommend!
(insta – @danielrayson)
A great price for a great tripod, ideal for travel or hiking as it’s very light and compact, not too stable in windy conditions but the addition of a hook to hang your camera bag on help this out, looks stylish and a great hight and easy to use, so if your looking for a good budget tripod look no further and grab one of these.!
Can’t believe how good all round this tri pod is! I have been using for a weeks now just to gain enough info to give a credible or bad review! But I simply can not fault this! To the point I have switched from my monfrotto befree! The head is perfect it’s super sturdy! And light weight!! I can’t express enough that you should consider this tripod as a purchase and as real good value for money!
The tripod is lighter than I imagined and folds up small enough for me to carry about doing my photography
It’s very high so that’s a bonus the legs lock very tight on the clasps and seems sturdy enough there’s also a hook u can hang something off to weigh it down
All in all a very good tripod for the price
I am so delighted with this tripod. As soon as I open the bag I could see that is in excellent quality, it has a solid built construction. I have used it few times now and I am really impressed with its versatility. Quick and easy to set up and put down. The height adjustment and functionality of legs are really impressive for taking different angles and height of shots.
For its current price you actually get more for what you pay for.
it’s everything I needed for travelling and everyday shooting. lightweight, compact and sturdy. the quick release plate is very easy to use too and I don’t need to keep a coin with me to secure my camera on the plate as it has a very useful folding D angle screw and the 360 ball head works smoothly.
It’s everything I need for a tripod, I am very happy to highly recommend this product.
I added a photo I took using this tripod, that I am very pleased with the outcome.
I owned few other brand of tripods but this is the one going to stay in my camera bag from now on:)
I was contacted by Geekoto and asked to review their tripod. I generally photograph rock climbing and mountaineering so when I carry a tripod it fulfils a range of tasks like time lapses, low light and remote photography.
The tripod is packaged nicely, comes in a carry case and straight out of the box feels like a professional tripod. It’s a mostly metal construction with some plastic parts. The unit is a really nice weight, I needed something that wasn’t so heavy I wouldn’t want to carry it in on a long walk to the climbing but not so light it would blow away. So given it’s solid construction I’m very happy with its weight.
The tripod packs down nicely into a neat carry bag that’s included. A velvet draw string bag is also included to cover the head of the tripod. Only complaint with the bag is I’d have liked a little zip pocket for storing bits in like Allen keys but this is a very minor complaint.
The tripod head is really nicely constructed. The locking adjustment knobs are metal in construction and all feel smooth, precise and easy to adjust. Once locked they’re very well locked in place. The orange anodised aluminium parts look and feel great. The 360 degrees panning scale is a nice feature I didn’t have on my previous tripod so I’m looking forward to experimenting!
The tripod extends to quite a height and still seems to be very stable which gives me confidence in experimenting further with different camera heights. The only gripe with the legs is the parts that lock the foot tube are made of plastic but at this price point it’s really not a problem!
Overall a really nice tripod that’s an absolute pleasure to use. Would recommend!
ormally using a heavy duty carbon fibre tripod for my work i really wasn’t expecting much from the travel tripod.
having ploughed the internet for the perfect travel tripod i quickly realised it didn’t exist and opted to try this one.
to my surprise its actually quite good, it mainly suits compact or mirrorless rather than pro dslr type cameras but so far i have been able to capture some great long exposure shots with it!
if you’re using a heavier camera just keep the legs shortened and its fine, an l bracket is also recommended.
i know it should be all about the functionality but i must say it really looks cool too!
I have always believed in investing in the best gear for your camera, as my camera deserves it. As Professional Photographer, I tend to shoot a lot of nature, landscape, street and portrait shots. I use a tripod for most of these shoots meaning I need versatility. Something I can quickly get out, take the shot and move on. The tripod comes with a lot of pros and I’ve listed them below.
Pros
The Size – The tripod is so compact, yet so damn tall. I love the fact that it comes with it’s own case. It’s very Lightweight the legs can be put into almost any position. Nothing quite like it
Monopod – The monopod feature is brilliant, being able to just take out the bit I need for a quick shoot to keep the shot sturdy. It’s brilliant.
Panoramic Video – The ball head is great. Very smooth panning, I’ve taken some amazing panoramic photos that I can’t wait to share.
Cons
None, so far
Overall – This Tripod is brilliant especially for the price and highly recommended. You won’t find a better deal anywhere.
Great tripod for the money, built very well. Rather impressed
Fantastic tripod. Extremely sturdy and lightweight. Would highly recommend buying.
Having used many other tripods, I can safely say that this is my favourite and most reliable. It is very precise, stable and has a lot of versatility in terms of being able to make it suit your shooting environment. For the size you can extend it to, it is amazing how small it packs up and can fit into my camera bag. I would certainly recommend this product for anyone as it will not let you down. The stability of this tripod is something you can highly rely on, as well as the ability to adjust it to almost any angle and still get a crisp smooth shoot. Overall this piece of equipment has become an essential part of my shoots and I can’t recommend it enough.
Looking back – I have accumulated my fair share of Tripods over the years and have sampled the best/worst in almost every price category.
When I came across the AT24Pro Geekoto Tripod I was positively surprised at what you can get these days from a Tripod that is priced just under 70.
Overview & Summary
While unboxing the tripod what immediately impresses is the quality. The Tripod is packaged in a neat, compact carry case. Its size equivalent to other comparable tripods.
Overall, I’m really impressed with the Geekoto AT24Pro. It’s sturdy, well made, compact and lightweight to carry, and looks the part. I love the stylish orange/black – goes very well with my orange arca-swiss L-Brackets I have mounted on all my cameras. (Yes its compatible !!).
The legs are very easy to extend and I was really impressed with the 2m height, something I have not seen in any of my other aluminium travel tripods. I had a lot of fun experimenting with high angles – I even tested it in a product shoot I did.
At its price point its at least 25 -30% cheaper than the best priced competitor products and I can hand on heart recommend this product based on value for money, build quality, size & weight and that height (!).
5 stars more than deserved…..
Things that stand out
– Amazing value for money
– Solid build quality & design (love the orange aluminium)
– Carrying bag
– Extend to a maximum height of 2m (79 inches)
– Detachable monopod
– Arca-swiss compatible head
– 360deg ball head with scale and bubble level
Things that could be improved
– Release plate mechanism made from hard-wearing plastic – again, this helps with weight and works perfectly well, but could have been made aluminium
More detail
The Geekoto AT24Pro has an operating height of 79inches which is quite unique and brilliant.
It can be folded to a super compact size of 48cm and weights in at only 1.5 kg. Thanks to its sturdy design iits load capacity is up to 8kg (17.6 lbs) – this easily supports my standard setup and a small rucksack for stabilisation
The legs allow for adjustment to 3 alternative angles (20, 50, 80) giving you a better angle, total flexibility and allow you to get some really low angles (macro/urban) as well as stability on uneven terrain (rubber feet help as well).
The tripod is quick and easily extend to full height thanks to the Hard plastic flip-locks. They’re easy to open and very quick to extend on location.
The setup is sturdy however on full extension there is the expected slight flex in the legs which is usual for aluminium tripods (the only fix is to upgrade to carbon fibre tripod which will x5 the price).
One leg is also removable and acts as a monopod when combined with the tripod head, providing a sturdy pole to shoot from.
One of my favourite features of the AT24Pro is the overall height it extends to – 2m/79inch. ! Love it! The hook on the centre pole allows you to attach a bag to weight the tripod down (and keep it dry/off the ground)
The tripod head is very well built, a good size and can pan smoothly around 360 degrees, giving you stability at any angle.
The release plate mechanism is made from hard-wearing plastic and is easily locked tight . The best thing is that the head is Arca-swiss compatible so caters for my existing plates and brackets – I can therefore easily switch between my studio tripod, this one and all of my other tripods …
5 stars – solid.

We have tried this tripod a few times and we are very happy with its features. we use the tripod for food photography for instagram content and for food and drink photography for the restaurants. Our camera is quite heavy but this tripod is very stable and strong.
this tripod is very light and resistant, it is very easy to compose. We have also used this tripod for videos and it is amazing how easy to handle it is.
We are looking forward to charge a video where we show its features while we work on our page.
Amazing tripod! Easy to set up and good quality. Good build quality, very strong. The tripod has lots of features such as a adjustable camera mount in all directions. The tripod can suit all needs as you can change the height drastically. The tripod can be extremely tall if you want it to be. The tripod once fully extended is taller than me so would be suitable for all people. (I’m 5’5) a definite keeper will use to film.
It’s a sturdy tripod. I used it in long-exposure shot and it did not disappoint me. I got a sharp shot on a 30sec exposure at 11mph wind!
It is made of aluminium alloy body and I was expecting its weight to be heavy but I was surprised that it is light and weighs almost the same as my fibre-carbon tripod (different brand). I find it easy to carry around.
It has a quick release plate which is very helpful. I can easily switch the position of my camera from landscape to portrait orientation without having to worry and reset my composition.
Overall, it’s a good quality tripod.
I purchased this tripod as I was in the market for a lightweight travel tripod to take out with me when I go camping. I’d been recommended this one so I thought i’d give it a go.
My first impression while unboxing was the quality. Ok, I know its only a cheaper end tripod in comparison, but, for the cost, the build quality was very nice, the weight just right and the added bonus of the built in monopod was a great feature.
Strength wise, it was absolutely fine with my Canon 6d and 16-35 lens – no flexing at all. I did notice a slight leg flex when I put on the 6D and 70-200 F2.8 lens, but in all fairness, that’s a heavy combo of body and lens to use on a lightweight travel tripod. But, even at zoom, it performed well. When at max zoom, I used a 2 second timer on the camera just to be sure of any shake.
The Ballhead is “OK” for what you are paying. There was a very slight amount of play on the head, so just something I had to keep in mind when shooting a pano. That aside, its a very smooth moving head with a nice quick release plate which seemed to feel very secure. The added bonus with the head is that its “L” bracket ready.
Centre column has the bonus of being a double extender so this is actually quite tall when full ended. You can also remove the centre column and attach it too the removable tripod leg to make a very tall monopod if you need that extra length.
So, after all my testing, would I recommend the Geekto 79″?? Absolutely. I would recommend without hesitation for the money and the market its aimed at. Well done Geekto, I’ve been impressed and now glad to be taking a lightweight tripod out camping with me.
This tripod is absolutely perfect for what I need, it extends to a height that no other tripod I’ve ever owned before extended to. It’s also very very sturdy for my heavy camera and to my surprise also extremely light. If you are looking for a tripod Geeko is the way to go. Very very happy
Very good product overall. I have used it for a sunset yesterday and managed to do everything I wanted, both landscape and portrait format, with a heavy APS-C DSLR and heavy lens.
I have been surprised by all the options available and sturdiness for a price accessible tripod. The only time the tripod struggled to manage the heavy weight was when in its tallest position. But once again, most of the tripods I used in the past struggled too.
I heavily recommend this tripod for landscape photographer.
This is a superb light weight tripod, perfect for taking on hiking adventures. I am a landscape and architectural photographer and often I will be carrying over 15kg of kit for 8-10 hours at a time. This tripod is a life saver as it so light weight while remaining strong enough to support heavy gear.
The unit is well made and the ball head is easy to use with a quick release plate that I prefer to leave on my camera.
Also having the option to remove one of the legs to use as a tripod is a brilliant idea and useful for any impromptu wildlife shots!
Great value and highly recommended.
Honestly I believe this is an amazing tripod! Fits my camera on very well and it comes with a case and is very simple to use!
As a Photographer and Videographer I am constantly on the move, I prefer to keep my equipment lightweight and practical, but still capable of achieving the result I am looking for. This tripod fits that criteria and its great value too, I was surprised to see it fully deployed as it goes above 6 feet, this is an improvement on my other travel tripod but remains compact to allow me to use it when travelling. The panning on the top of the tripod can be controlled smoothly using the 360-ball head and the adjustments provided which is useful for video, and the monopod feature feels like a bonus which I will give a go at some point. Usually travel tripods forget about weight support so I was glad to see this has a hook to hang my camera bag on to keep the tripod sturdy in windy conditions. The tripod can be adjusted to lots of different setups, with the legs locking into multiple angles allowing for great flexibility for more difficult and tricky locations. Overall its impressive, its light, sturdy, packs up small and has all the features of a bigger tripod for less.
The first thing that striked me about this tripod was the really cool black and orange design. Being a relatively light tripod, it’s very easy to carry around, but the material is quite sturdy and clearly of good quality. All of this in conjunction with the great price make this tripod a wonderful choice for beginners or photographers on a budget.
Pros:
– This tripod is really tall!
– Cool design
– Sturdy
– Light enough to carry around
– Can be used as a monopod
– Great value
Cons:
– Lower stability when fully extended (because it is so tall!)
– Takes a while to pack if you’re moving from one place to the other frequently (e.g. when you have to catch the subway a lot)
Good build quality — it’s not cheap, so that’s to be expected. The ball head is excellent and pans really smoothly.
The tripod is enormously tall, and not very steady at full height — as would be expected from a ‘compact’ tripod with 5 leg segments. It’s steadier than some cheaper tripods, but not as rigid as a heavier-weight tripod with fewer leg segments.
Unfortunately the label “travel tripod” is very misleading as this tripod is quite large and heavy, and for that reason I will be returning it as it will not serve my purpose as I need to travel light. I will be replacing it with a K&F tripod which is not nearly so good in terms of build quality, but is much lighter and smaller and so suits me better.
I received my Geekoto tripod just over a week ago and I have used it on two outings so far, a light painting session on a building site and on a Loch side location photoshoot with a model. Two different circumstances but it served its purpose well.
On the light painting shoot it was great. Very easy to set up, even in the dark, and the individual adjustable tripod legs were excellent. I was able to set up on the side of a pile of rubble and still keep the tripod level due to the adjustable legs (3 positions). Very handy. The tripod can go very low as well allowing for some nice dramatic angles. As light painting involves long exposures (I was exposing for over a minute on some shots) it was essential that the tripod remained sturdy. It didn’t fail. I cannot fault it.
On the model shoot the tripod performed great as well. I was doing a lot off camera with lighting and posing etc so used the tripod the whole time. The height of the tripod varies from very low to very high. At one point I was shooting at the maximum height. So high that I was using a remote trigger release to fire the shutter. At full height there is a fair bit of camera wobble. Even a 2 sec shutter delay might not combat it so I would recommend a remote trigger at this height. Other than that the height flexibility is awesome. We were doing a fair bit of walking around on this shoot and it was noticeable that this tripod is heavier than my old Manfrotto travel tripod. The Geekoto is much more sturdy though so it is an acceptable trade off and it is slightly more compact. It comes with a decent padded bag.
Overall I highly recommend this tripod. It handled my Nikon D750 no problem. It feels very sturdy and the ball head feels as if it belongs on a much more expensive tripod. The panoramic movement is ultra smooth. The camera/tripod mount securely attaches and locks the camera to the tripod which is great as I have a habit of carrying my tripod around with the camera attached. The monopod feature is a nice touch and although I haven’t used it yet it will be handy for wildlife shoots. Highly recommended.
I would like to point out that I did receive this tripod to test for free and also in return for a review. I have been 100% honest in my review so I hope you found it helpful. #ADD
Fairly pleased with this tripod, it is strong and sturdy when not fully extended. Tripod can extend over 6ft tall but can be a little wobbly when it is windy but being short means you’ll rarely need it to be fully extended because you wont be able to reach your camera. Tripod is a little heavy and big for my liking but comes with a seperate case to carry this with.
One of the tripod legs can also be removed to be used as an monopod.
Tripod can be set up and packed away fairly quickly because the legs are operated with clips, which also means it can easily be adjusted.
One down point for me was the tripod head the arc swiss was perfect along with the smooth 360 degree rotation but the part the plate sits on is plastic and when you tighten it the plastic would bend, having my camera on it was fine when at normal height where the camera was within my reach but I was a little nervous with it in the air at 6ft out of my reach.
Overall I do recommend this tripod you can’t go wrong with this value and it does do a good job
I am a professional photographer with more than 8 years experience, and I’ve work with a lot of vary photography accessories, but I bought this tripod and I’m so happy with this.
Very good material quality used to make it. Honestly it’s very flexible and trustworthy, I put a Nikon D810 with lens 70-200 with speedlite on it.
I really recommend them.
Having received this tripod for professional use all I can say is wow. Efficient and quick delivery first of all.
The tripod has excellent build quality and the adjustments available on the legs are secure and flexible, better than many elite brand tripods.
The plate to secure to your camera and the ball head is sturdy and reliable and which is essential for long exposure work.
The ball head is great quality with secure adjustments.
This is a great all round tripod for a full frame DSLR and 70-200 lens for an idea of safe weight. I’ll certainly be making good use of it in the field.
The carry bag is ideal for an efficient, quick pack and go. I actually love the orange colour too and although unsure at first, I’d be delighted to use and experience more Geekoto photography gear in the future. Terrific first impression.
This is a nice lightweight tripod of with the level quality I would expect given the price. Packs up to a compact size and pack in a handy bag.
Well designed and sturdy tripod. I’ve had used a few similar products out there before and was not happy with them at all, as they could not held my heavy camera setup (battery grip and 11-24mm lens), however, this tripod blowed me away. Although it’s really light weight but quite sturdy. I would recommended to any photographer who’s looking for a strong and on budget tripod.
Opening – first impressions were great. Well packed in a box & then comes in a zipped carry bag. Though for day to day use I’ll probably just strap it to my bag, it gives good quality padded protection when packing in a car, etc. The ball head also has protection in the form of a velvet bag. The attention to detail of wanting the tripod to arrive in pristine condition is reassuring & worthy of commendation. Of course none of that matters if the tripod is no good…
Thankfully, that isn’t a problem. It has a good weight to it without being too heavy. The legs are easy to extend with one hand & the clips fix fast with no issues. The leg angle adjustments are equally simple to control. One feature that particularly appeals is the height it extends to. I’m over 6′ tall so I often have to crouch or lean over other tripods, where as this extends so I can look at the LCD or viewfinder at my eye level. (No more aching back! ) This understandably results in slightly less stability in windy conditions, but I really appreciate the option of being able to set it up that high. In contrast, it also folds up quite small. Smaller than a lot of tripods that don’t extend as high. The legs fold right back so that they surround the ball head, making the minimum height about 19″. Means it’s ideal for city use. The ball head is smooth & has a decent friction to it. The knobs to adjust angle & panorama are large enough for using with gloves without being so big they inhibit free movement. The base plate attachment is plastic, but that helps to cut down weight & still feels solid & secure. There is one thing I’ve noticed that is a bit awkward though, view of the bubble level is obscured when the camera is attached to the ball head. It’s not a deal breaker though. The positives FAR outweigh any negatives, but just think I should mention it.
I’d been considering a new tripod & had been weighing up options. I’d not come across Geekoto before, but I would highly recommend now. Whether you’re a seasoned pro looking for a reasonable lightweight versatile option, or you’re a newbie on a tight budget this tripod is definitely worth a look. My experience with the company as well as the product has been really professional & I would happily consider the rest of their range based on this exchange.
Well done & many thanks Geekoto
Loving this tripod. It is easy to use, compact, sturdy, lightweight and great for travel. It is easy and quick to use, and it also comes with its own carry bag and a small bag over the top of the tripod head. I like the black and orange look and it is easy to carry around.
Overall, I would say the tripod is great value for money, I am very impressed with the tripod and I would definitely recommend to other photographers.
Really impressed with this tripod! Great value for the price range and certainly here to compete in the market!
Have put it through its paces a few times now and results are brilliant! Happily holds the Canon 5D and everything is very smooth on it, especially the clips, I love the clips! When you are out in the cold and dark this suddenly becomes very important to you! Really good height, something my previous one lacked and traditionally tends to bump the price.
Overall hard to fault this tripod, it’s sturdy, really good quality, great height, great clips, great colour, great customer service! GREAT!
This product is great for traveling and very affordable. It looks good, and pretty sturdy. I like how high the tripod is without having to get an extention. I used it for my godox lighting, and even with a beauty dish mounting on it, it was pretty steady. Knocked it with the door by accident and it was still standing. I’m pretty happy with it, as it is very easy to set up. The height help to get the light on the right angle even when I was standing up.
Two main reasons why did I choose this tripod as I was looking to get another manfrotto or vanguard. First and the most important reason for me was height, fully extended it reaches 2m where my manfrotto befree is only 1.45m fully extended – main use for my tripods is to shoot time lapses and often I end up being on the pedestrian bridge or some other bridges and there are always a wall or some kind of guard to keep you falling of the bridge, fine if you can poke your lens trough it, but not always it’s possible and most of the times my manfrotto tripod in not tall enough to reach over it, where with this tripod I won’t have this problem. Another great thing is hook in centre column for attaching a weight to make the tripod more sturdy, I use it to attach my bag there so when I’m shooting time lapse I don’t need to hold my bag and it works as extra weight to make tripod more sturdy, by the way my bag is around 8kg and that hook was holding it OK. Did I said two things there is another and it’s price, half the price what you would pay for manfrotto or vanguard and they don’t even extend to 2m and if they do they would cost you arm and leg.
Build quality is ok, not as good as manfrotto tripods, but I didn’t expect that, quick release plate is made out of plastic, hard plastic, feels ok, but I’m not going to use that plate anyway. You can make it as monopod, I don’t think I ever will do that, but that’s something to consider and may be handy for you.
Overall, I’m happy with my purchase, it’s definitely not the best tripod hang on for the money it actually could be best tripod under 70
But in all seriousness, it’s not bad at all, well-build, folds up pretty small got nice ball head and not very heavy.
I was contacted through Instagram to test and review this tripod, and it’s a very impressive piece of kit! I’m a professional property photographer, and also shoot landscapes in my spare time so I thought I’d take it out to a local waterfall. Normally I use a 3 Legged Thing Winston carbon fibre tripod, but that’s worth about 400, so it was a very interesting comparison!
This model from Geekoto is far cheaper, lighter – despite being aluminium rather than carbon fibre – and collapses down smaller, making it great for travelling with. I particularly love the fact the included ball head has big adjustment knobs, meaning it’ll be easy to operate with thick gloves in winter, and it’s even compatible with my Arca-Swiss L bracket tripod plate. The foam leg cover means your hands won’t get as cold gripping it in winter too. The movement of the head is not as loose as my 3LT, but that actually makes it easier to fine tune the composition – especially with a heavy lens on the front of my camera.
Speaking of weight capacity, my hefty gear is easily stabilised, and allowed me to take the 30″ exposure included in the photos of this review. I’m really impressed too with the ease with which the centre column can be inverted, and the monopod conversion is a real bonus. A useful hook to add a bag for stabilising ballast is a nice touch too.
The number of leg sections does mean the tripod loses some stability when fully extended, but it reaches the same height as my 3LT with the use of the 2-section centre column which is impressive! The leg locks are very easy to use, and while I can’t see a way of adjusting them, they are firm enough for the job.
Overall, it’s a really well packaged item of equipment with the included carry bag, and the tripod itself is excellent value for money. It’s not as competent as the Winston in some areas, but then it’s about a fifth of the price, so no complaints there. Feature-packed and lightweight, with easy adjustments; I would definitely recommend this model from Geekoto.
If you are starting out photography or already at pro level photographer without doubt you need a sturdy, reliable tripod for Pin Sharp, Shake free, day and night shots! This tripod delivers just that! And it’s absolutely tall too! Best for those crowdy / event shots when you need the Extra height to capture the main event without having people’s head in the way
.
So recently I was given this tripod to use and test out so here are the Things I like:
#Height – ( really tall, almost touches my room ceiling! My old tripod looks so tiny compare to it)
#Quick release – (Absolutely love the clamps that lets you open the tripod super fast with one hand pull motion, opens all three rods)
#Monopod – ( This I think is the best feature of all, there’s certain places where tripods not allowed so you can open the leg & switch to mono pod and still get the shot you are after )
#Position Locks – ( Omg I love this, when you switch position of the legs the clip automatically steps down unlike my old tripod where I had to manually push and lock it )
#Upside down – ( If you love macro photography you’d love this feature, simple unscrew the weight screw in the middle rod and switch it upside down & screw it back in! Takes only 2 mins )
#Panorama dials and tightening – ( the ball head comes with 360 panorama marking, super hand and easy to follow and lock dials are big and very sturdy )
*** Things I don’t like /
#Size: > It’s much more bigger than my current Tripod and doesn’t fit inside my traveling bag! However It can be fitted outside. I just like to have all my gears tucked in.
#Ballhead and Attachment: > The Top of ballhead and attachment plate is made of plastic instead of metal! I just personally like it to be made of metal like my current tripod for durability and long lasting!
*** Overall +
Overall I think it’s a great tripod! Ticks out most the features I prefer to have on a Tripod! Totally recommend it if your budget is around 70
Instagram – @Shadz_ig
Great quality at this price, very sturdy, easy to use, great design and I’m also very happy with the size and weight. Fully extended, the tripod is taller than me. Perfect if you need to have your camera high to shoot over a glass partition for example. One of the legs is detachable to use as monopod, the ball head is great and I like in how many positions you can place the legs, perfect to shoot with the camera really close to the floor, for puddle shots for example. I definitely recommend it.
This is a really well designed tripod from GEEKOTO.
It manages to balance a light weight design with a surprising stability and holds both my sony a7iii and Canon 5dmkiv with no issues. The ball head is solid and locks tightly. I am in the early days of using it so it’s diffficult lt to make a judgement about long term durability but the tripod is well made and feels solid. In summary I think the design, weight and ball head will make it my ideal travel tripod simply because it performs well in the field balancing a lighter weight.
The tripod is well made, sturdy in use and supports my Nikon D850 and lenses with no issues.
Excellent value product for those on a tigher budget – the colours look nice too.
Totally impressed with the quality and strength of this tripod!
For the price it is very good and totally recommended,
Also very easy and light to transport.
If you need something durable just take advantage of it,
this is the tripod you need.
This is really an awesome tripod. It is quick and easy to assemble. Very sturdy and can take the weights of my heavy lenses (Sigma 14-24mm)! It’s very adjustable and reaches a height way above my expectations. The ballhead can be rotated to different angles and the is a panning adjustment on it as well.
I am really happy with this tripod
The first thing that you notice when you pick up this tripod is how heavy it is, as in it’s not heavy at all (deceptively light you might say) even though it’s made mostly of aluminium and it has a rather novel feature which makes this even more remarkable which I will come to in a moment. It also ships with a nicely padded shoulder bag which you don’t have to pay extra for like with some other tripod brands so that’s a bonus.
Leg locks are of the traditional flip locking ‘clamp’ style which are light to the touch but nevertheless are secure in operation. For peace of mind an adjustment tool is included with which you can adjust the tension on the clamps if necessary should they become loose for any reason in future. Since I have only just purchased this it’s not an issue but it’s good to know that there is an easy way to make an adjustment when away from home. Obviously you should keep it in the case for that reason.
This is definitely an easy travel tripod to get along with. At only 19″ in length when folded it can easily fit inside a camera bag or carry-on luggage when you are flying anywhere. As I mentioned before it’s very light and this is usually the norm with small travel tripods but this one has a feature which I haven’t seen on any other that I’ve owned over the years (no, not the built-in monopod useful though that is) but the centre column which extends in two sections with twist locking clamps. This allows you to raise the height of the ball-head to a staggering 7 feet high (82″ to be exact). So many times I’ve had travel tripods which were just that bit too short at full extension when trying to take shots over obstacles or through hedges for example and this means that no shooting opportunity will be missed from now on. This is my favourite part of the whole tripod it’s fair to say and for foreign travel it means that packing longer tripods into my hold luggage will be a thing of the past.
The ball-head is strong and stable enough to hold my full frame camera with a teleconverter and fast 70-200 mm lens attached without any noticeable sagging so long exposure photography over long time intervals is easily achievable. The quick-release plate is plastic and very solid, attaching to the base of the camera or lens mount with a durable threaded spigot which seems very secure and there is no hint of movement when everything is tightened up. When mounting expensive camera gear onto a tripod the sense of security is very important and this setup exudes confidence which belies it’s price.
This tripod does it all and for the price, it’s a steal. Over the years since I started out in photography I’ve bought and been later disappointed with the limitations inherent in several travel tripods which have always been a compromise in some way but this is the first one that I would consider as a ‘do-it-all’ for everyday work so that I can leave my heavier one at home more often and go out on longer walks instead. Highly recommended.
Geekoto recently approached me to try out their new AT24Pro tripod.
I own several tripods including Manfrotto both carbon and aluminium so I was looking forward to compare this new tripod and let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint!
I was really surprised by its quality, for only 69.99 you get outstanding value for money! Its roughly half of the price of its competitors and it is ticking just about every box on my wish list: compact, sturdy, extendable, arca-swiss plate and 360 ball head.
The Geekoto AT24Pro can be folded to a super compact size of 19inch and fully operating height of 79inches which is brilliant and better than most competitors. Legs can be adjusted to 3-position offering total flexibility and allow you to get some really low angles as well. Rubber feet are a nice touch to secure the tripod.
In addition to being of solid construction, the tripod is surprisingly light (only 1.5kg). It holds easily 2kg, I put my Sony camera with a heavy lens and had no issue.
Another nice touch is that one leg can be unscrewed to use as a standalone monopod.
If this wasn’t enough, the tripod also comes with a bag as well (that’s bonus as most competitor don’t offer that either).
To sum up, if you are after a brilliant travel tripod that won’t take much space in your bag and that won’t break the bank, hit that ‘Add to basket’ button!
PROS
Lightweight
Extend to a maximum height of 79 inches
Detachable monopod
Quick release plate
Arca-swiss compatible head
360degrees ball head with scale
Bubble level
Carrying bag
Hard plastic flip-locks look durable but only time will tell
CONS
Hard plastic plate (could have been metal but I guess it helped with overall weight)
A great tri pod with out costing a mint. So sturdy and versatile. And the 360 swivel is the icing on the cake. I am one happy customer. Easy 5 stars
Been looking for a good built tripod for all rounder from taking videos and capturing photos. Ordered the tripod arrived quickly within 3 days. Tripod comes with detachable Monopod which you can use as either walking stick or attach your camera complete with a set of Allen key, manual and carry case. Highly recommend for amateur to pro photographers / videographers
The first thing to note here is that I was gifted this tripod in exchange for a review due to being a photographer.
That being said, this is an amazing tripod. It’s lightweight, and fits inside my normal-sized backpack (at a bit of a push) but this makes it really easy to take out and about with you. Setting the tripod up on location is really fast – just unclip the legs, extend them and its ready to go in about 30s I would say. The ball head is great, and being able to easily switch to a portrait angle is great to quickly diversify your shots. The head is also really smooth when rotating to make panoramic shots easy to take.
Overall, the tripod feels and looks very well made, like a true premium product. It is sturdy and is very enjoyable to use whilst out and about. I would definitely recommend this tripod, especially at this price range. After using this tripod, I would be more than happy to purchase other Geekoto branded equipment too as I now have confidence in the brand.
Wow. I am totally Impressed with this tripod. On first impressions it’s really sturdy and trust it to hold the weight of my camera even in windy conditions. It’s light as well, very easy to carry around. One major positive for me compared to every tripod I’ve used in the past is that this tripod when fully extended is taller than me, 6 ft! For me that is suitable in places I’ve always wanted to use my high tripod but didn’t have that option, now I can. Looking forward to lots of adventures with the tripod. Very flexible for what I need.
Can hold 2kg easy. Held my Canon 5Diii with a 24mm TS-E II lens and L bracket.
One thing to note is that the tripod mount doesnt screw very tight, so when shooting portrait it can twist and make the camera slip down on heavier loads. This is combated by investing in an L-bracket, where it holds the same setup above no problem.
Great value for money and great product. Pans really nice too for all you video guys out there.
I love my Geekoto tripod! It’s well made and sturdy and I like the design. The little orange accents really make it look cool too! The whole package feels of a very good quality, right down to the padded travel bag it comes with. There is even a soft pouch to protect the ball head.
It’s quick and easy to put up and take down, adjusts really well and the double extension to the centre pole allow it to go REALLY high. It’s great to have the option of a monopod too. Everything feels solid and all the mechanical parts are well weighted and adjust accurately. Another major plus point is the weight, it’s really light! Because of this and the fact that it’s very compact, it is going to work very well as a travel tripod.
It has dealt with my heaviest set up really well, even with the ball head adjusted to portrait view, there was no creep. Overall I have to say my Geekoto tripod performs superbly for an extremely good price, VERY happy!
The tripod arrived in a proper box with an extra bag for the tripod which you can use and carry around. This tripod was taller than I expected and I am happy about it! The head ball works really well so panorama shots would be very easy. You can also use it as a monopod if you are using heavy glass. All in all I am quite happy and I recommend this product!
We were invited by Geekoto to review this product who provided it to us. We agreed on the basis that we would give an impartial review, which we’ve tried to do.
We photograph a lot of buildings for Instagram and a website, both of which are about modernist and constructivist architecture. Some of our most striking shots are taken, of course, in challenging light conditions and a good, lightweight tripod is crucial, none of the photography is in the studio. Lightweight this tripod is and quick to unpack and erect. The tripod folds up short and comfortably attaches to the side of our camera backpack. It receives the Nikon SLR we invariably use and notwithstanding the weight, there’s no sense of fragility, this slender tripod is stable even on rough and uneven ground. The only criticism we have is that when the camera is fitted it’s hard to see the integral spirit level. The machining of the parts is clean and the components, including the telescopic legs, work smoothly and fit closely. One of the legs is removable to work as a monopod, which is a useful and lovely touch. Our existing tripod, while modern, is longer when folded, heavier and slower to erect and pack away. We would happily take the tripod as hand luggage or drop it into a checked bag. This Geekoto will undoubtedly be traveling with us from now on.
Wow what a great purchase. Highly recommend seller. My parcel came on time and superb customer service. I was looking for a tripod for my heavy Canon 750 D and this is the perfect purchase. Parcel was well packed and in a sleek bag. It’s a light weight tripod and so easy to carry as well. Non slip rubber feet design keeps the tripod steady on ground safe. Which I really love. Excellent seller and highly recommend. Please see the photo of my product as well. Thank you Geekoto xxx
I recently bought the AT24Pro Geekoto Tripod and I have to say, I’m very impressed!
Upon initial unboxing, the tripod is packaged in a smart carry case with a smaller soft bag protecting the tripod head inside. It’s a very neat, compact package and the overall length is on the smaller size compared to equivalently solid tripods.
Overall the tripod is clearly a sturdy construction. It’s very well made, built to last and looks the part in a stylish orange/black aesthetic. The tripod is functional, smooth, and pared down well. It doesn’t have lots of extra clutter you can find on other tripods (such as many knobs or clips). It’s very light, has a fantastic overall height and I’ve personally found it performs just as well, if not better than other more expensive tripods I own!
Legs:
Solidly built, the legs are smooth to extend with snap clips that wrap around them. They’re easy to open and make the whole unit very quick to extend on location. Rubber feet on each leg are large and firm, providing necessary stability. I did find however that when fully extended, the lower legs can be slightly bendy – tho you’ll get this on most aluminium tripods.
One leg is also removable and acts as a monopod using the unscrewable tripod head. The leg is very easy to take off and fix to the head, providing a sturdy pole to shoot from.
There are three angles the legs can adjust to, and the solid metal clips make it very easy to move between them. The legs can actually do a full 180 degree fold which allows you to shoot very low to the ground. Perfect for macro and urban photography!
Column:
The central column is an impressive feature. Two poles allow for a long height with a secure twisting mechanism. One of the most impressive aspects I found of the AT24Pro is the overall height it can extend to – 2m! It’s impressive for such a compact and we’ll built tripod, especially at the current price! A hook also sits underneath the central pole to fix a bag/weight to, and works very well when shooting to weigh the tripod down more.
Head:
The tripod head is very well built, a good size and the ballhead secures very tightly whatever position the plate is in. The head can pan smoothly around 360 degrees and locks well with the turn of a smaller knob. Shooting with a Nikon Z6 camera and associated Z lenses, I’ve found the head more than secure enough to take my camera. It’s also worked perfectly with the heaviest samyang lens I own. Any angle I’ve tried so far is stable, with no overbalancing or movement from the ballhead.
The release plate mechanism is slightly large compared to other comparable brands I own, but is made from hard-wearing plastic and locks tight. One thing that has frustrated me about other tripods I’ve used is tightening the base plate to the camera. This Geekoto plate has a standard flat head screw-head as well as a very useful folding D angle that allows you to fix it securely when you forgot a coin to tighten it.
I tend to shoot with an L-bracket on my camera and fortunately the head is Arca-swiss compatible so allows for many existing plates and brackets to fit in with ease. A strap sits underneath the head too for easy carrying or securing the tripod.
Overall, I’m very impressed with the Geekoto AT24Pro. I’d not heard of the brand before but having used it for a few days now I am seriously considering using it as my main tripod around the city. It’s compact and lightweight to carry, and folds down to a good size. The legs are very easy to extend and the 2m height is a massive benefit over competitor tripods I own. Especially useful is the range of angles you can position the camera in. I’d wholeheartedly reccomend this tripod, especially so at the current price (69) which is brilliant value compared to others on the market!
Chris (@chrisjdalton)
GEEKOTO pack a lot of great features into this tripod for a very reasonable price. The build quality is high, and the ball head especially feels solid and well constructed.
Light enough to carry around on a long walk, the tripod is very compact when stowed, and reaches an impressive height when fully extended.
The ball head feels very secure, includes a spirit level and makes vertical shooting and panorama shots very simple. The quick release screw makes removing and attaching your camera easy.
And as if there weren’t already enough features to make this a great budget tripod, it quite easily converts into a competant extendable monopod
There is a slight flex in the legs, to be expected from an aluminium frame but there is a carbon fibre model available if you’re willing to spend a bit more.
Overall a very impressive, feature rich tripod, ideal for a photographer on a budge
I’m an experienced landscape photographer and I have several Manfrotto tripods, one of which is the BeFree which I think is the one that this tripod can be compared with. This is half the price of the BeFree and weighs roughly the same.
The first thing I noticed was the quality of the product. This is not a cheaply made product in fact it is well made but it does seem slightly less durable than the BeFree, this is down to one simple fact. This is a very tall tripod at 200cm when fully extended compared to the 144cm of the BeFree. This is the main seller for me as I often found my BeFree too short and constantly bending over puts strain on my back. At this height it’s more comfortable to use and will give better foreground in my shots. This extra height is the reason the tripod is slightly less durable than I said earlier as it would be quite heavy otherwise and would not be a travel tripod in my opinion.
It is sturdy and the slight flex in the legs is in fact slightly less than my BeFree, this is usual for aluminium tripods and unless you want to spend the extra for a carbon fibre tripod this is what you will always get. The quick lock legs are excellent and move smoothly into position and the locking clips are also smooth. I particularly like the leg angle adjustment on the Geekoto and is better than the BeFree which I find one of its worst features.
The head is very well made and has a great panning smoothness while the ball head is very smooth when adjusting the position of the camera, added bonus is the quick release plate also works with my Peak Design camera clip. While I prefer the quick release system of Manfrotto it sometimes not seated properly and I’ve been lucky so far to not drop my camera, this has a locking knob which although a little slower when using, securely locks the plate in place.
The monopod is a nice feature but I doubt it will be of use to me but being able to invert the stem and have a camera at such a low height will give some interesting shots. The hook on the tripod is useful to hang your bag on and make the tripod more stable in windy conditions, something the BeFree doesn’t have.
This tripod can also take a lot of weight, I feel confident that it will support my camera and a heavy lens as well as other things like my Vixen Polarie. It packs up well but is a little longer than the BeFree, that’s to be expected because of the extra height you get. If they made another section on the legs it could be more compact but having the extra clip would be detrimental so I don’t mind that it’s slightly longer when packed.
All in all this is an excellent tripod for the price and I would recommend it as I can see myself using this more than the BeFree because of some of the things I have mentioned in this review.. Time will tell if the durability is an issue but as long as I don’t throw it around it should be just fine. I honestly can’t give this any less than 5 stars because you get a lot of tripod for a very reasonable price.
