This has stopped our large puppy pulling on the lead and does no go into her eyes, as the Halti did.

I think this works very well. It definitely stops my Staffordshire bull terrier from pulling even a tiny bit. I worry about what it’s doing to the back of his neck tho, that’s why I wouldn’t give it five stars for comfort but I guess it’s not meant to feel comfortable, hence why it works and stops the pulling. As soon as he goes to pull the discomfort immediately makes him stop the pulling.

This collar has really worked for us. Our dog does not pull when wearing this collar. It took him a couple of days to get used to it but now he’s as comfortable in it as a normal collar. It’s nicely made and looks smart.

Our lab is just over one year old and I can honestly say we’ve tried around 7 different leads and harnesses and none of them have made walking with him a pleasure. Canny collar was recommended to me and it’s the best thing I’ve bought for him. He doesn’t like it much because he can’t pull me over anymore but it’s comfortable for him and doesn’t hurt at all. He’s getting the hang of just walking beside me now instead of pulling ahead. I highly recommend this collar!

Tried several different types of head collar, even though they all work to some degree the dog ends up walking sideways due to the lead being on either the left or right. With the Canny you clip on behind the head so we end up walking normally.

My big puppy pulls like crazy on the lead when not in training with treats, but when I put this collar on him, he was transformed. He wasn’t sure of it at first, but got used to it and walks so calmly on a loose lead, it works like magic. I hope to use it until he gets used to walking on a loose lead without dragging me along. I recommend this to anyone whose dog takes them for a walk.

Bought this as an alternative to a gentle head leader as the back fastening made it easier on my dogs neck, her head wasn’t constantly pulling to one side which made it comfier for her and protected her neck from any muscle strain or injury. Worked well. I would say it stopped her from pulling but it definitely gave me more control and made walks easie

This collar is a game changer. I have a cocker spaniel that I have tried everything with. Harness, figure of 8, halti….the list goes on. I first put this as directed over her nose and of course she hated it so I use it just around her neck and it then pulls from 2 points either side. I dont know it happens but she doesn’t hardly pull at all. If I go back to just a slip lead she pulls and chokes herself. This has changed our walks to an enjoyable stroll without my arm being yanked out of its socket.

The collar is as effective in stopping the dogs pulling and more comfortable than the figure of eight leads we had been using. They are well made but a little fiddly when letting the dogs off lead and putting them back on. The other thing id note is that they are a little expensive for what they are. 10-12 would be a better price point in my opinion.

Before using the canny collar – it was pretty much impossible to walk our 11 month old Border Collie on the pavement by any busy road. She pulled and went to ground and also lunged at passing cars. Since using the collar this has greatly improved – although still not perfect I can get her to the local park without having to pick her up!

Have had several of these over the years and they always do exactly what they say they are going to. They are a good gentle way of encouraging your dog to stop pulling. I only use mine once a day or when she needs it. They need to be sturdy as initially it can be a bit of a battle to get it on if you have a wriggling puppy like me.

My only comment is that I thought I may be buying a little bit big, but thought she could grow into it – instead it is already on the third hole so only two more to go. When this gets too small I will buy another larger version.

I bought 2 for my young labs as I had got to the stage of dreading the battle of their walks! I opted for this brand as I like the idea of the leash point being behind their neck unlike a halti. I want to utilise this as a traing aid not a permanent alternative to a collar and lead.
It works like a dream, no more strained shoulders/arms for me and walking is something I look forward to again. My older lab dislikes it, and sulks horribly but she’s not the worst puller so I simply don’t bother to loop it over her nose-shes happy and if the situation arises, I can loop it over if I need to.
My younger one doesn’t mind it at all, however for some reason the loop often slips off her nose when she’s sniffing around which is why I’ve rated it 4 not 5. I don’t know why this happens, both are similar in size – I bought the same size, 1 slips but the other doesn’t.
In my opinion this is a better option than the halti, it’s far more substantial and it’s easier to slip the nose part back on (I’d it slips off) than trying to replace a slipped off halti.

Really impressed with this collar. I’ve used a Halti previously and I’ve never liked how it rides up near the eyes and pulls the head sideways. The Canny Collar doesn’t do either of these and it must be comfortable as there’s no stopping suddenly to try and get it off. I measured her and it fits snug but I’ll get the next size for my other dog as she is borderline on sizes and this size wouldn’t fit her. Definitely worth trying, I’m glad I did!!

Great collar and good quality. My only criticism is that if the dog pulls it does ride up under his eyes and bless him he tries to paw it off his face but we do constantly check it is sitting correctly and loosening off.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersUsing this for my 4 year old border collie who still pulls a bit especially with distractions. Unfortunately she still manages to get the noseband off. Think it’s just trial and error at the way the lead is held. And better on a short lead. I can feel the difference when she has the noseband off, she starts pulling straight away. Perseverance is needed. Overall its very strong and nicely made.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this with some scepticism after hating the Halti version but have been very impressed.

Starting running with my dog made her difficult on a harness as I was encouraging her to pull, was recommended a Halti and just couldn’t get along with it, I didn’t feel in control and she worked out very quickly how to remove not only the nose band but the entire collar, usually trying to play with another dog.

The Canny Collar is great, it took a couple of walks to get used to & learning how to keep everything in place, but after that have had no problems at all. I love the ability to use this as a regular collar – I don’t want to depend on an anti pull device forever – to allow easy training without having to change the lead or harness.

    Highly recommended!

    Feel in control!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI think this is really good as a training aid, rather than a full solution. With that in mind I love this product, my dog is a large golden retriever and he loves to pull. The first time wearing this was like night and day, he simply couldn’t pull. At all. He doesn’t like it though so we are training him to get used to it. But I don’t have to worry about him pulling me along the sides of roads anymore. Plus no embarrassing looks from other walkers from when he pulled like crazy on the harness or choked himself gasping with just the neck collar.

    Fab product.

Whilst it still isn’t perfect, it’s certainly the best thing I’ve tried for my little nutcase. It seems to be good quality.

Would be great for 'normal' dogs!

I was looking for a way to stop my dog pulling and this was recommended by a friend. I was dubious but it actually does work and my dog doesn’t attempt to take it off either. Very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI adopted a little greyhound with a prey drive way bigger. She needs to be mainly on lead so the constant pulling was hard work. None stop pulling on a collar and lead or harness. Training didn’t help.

So I tried the canny halter, immediate difference. It took a couple of days for her to get use to it, and at high exciting times she can still bounce though I now have control.
It’s safer for her, for me and for people and dogs we meet.
She is still the busy, curious dog we love, though now it’s a better experience all round without the consistent pulling.

I would say that it is not easy to use with little instructions but I finally worked it out and I must say it certainly makes my dog behave well on the lead. With a dog weighing under 6 stone of pure muscle the pulling was killing my arms but that has all gone when using this lead. The only thing is my dog fights to get it off but I guess that will stop over time.

I have a 40 kg, 6 month old Leonberger puppy. Once she got to around 4 months, no matter what we tried, she pulled like a train. Once she got to 5 months, I stopped taking her out because it was too dangerous. I genuinely cried sometimes because I have a dog I really love but just could not walk her. She lurched at strangers, she dragged me down the street. Indoors she pretty much obeys every command. Outside she turns into a deaf 40kg dangerous to us and herself, embarrassment. In truth we only got away with her leaping on strangers for so long because she is a puppy and most people knew her from 8 weeks. Obviously most people know her because we never took her more than 10 minutes without giving up. I fought against any kind of head collar; hate the idea. Eventually, when even other half struggled to take her and he is fairly strong and even he was making excuses not to, I caved in. The first two weeks were traumatic, obviously she hated it, why wouldn’t she? It slipped off, until we learned the technique for keeping it on. Now it never comes off. Today I came back, for the first time from a 30 minute pleasurable walk. All I can say is, if you have tried every training method you can google and it hasn’t worked, then do try a head collar. No matter how much you hate the idea, it’s better than not enjoying taking your dog out. I actually think she enjoys her walk more now, even though she can’t do exactly what she wants; probably because we are relaxed now taking her. Downside, yes it is a bit fiddly to get on but after 3 weeks or so, we can now put it on her within seconds.

Well, this is the best thing I have ever purchased. It’s has transformed my dog from a kangaroo on the lead to a calm well behaved dog. The first time we used it he was a bit unsure but we achieved loose lead walking for the first time ever. I’ve never left a review on a product before because it’s well effort but I’m so impressed by this product. In short it’s totally amazing. I couldn’t be more pleased.
