This is the 2nd cat mate cat flap I’ve had, the last one has lasted 13th years and it’s well used, this one is as good a quality and the dial works more efficiently as it’s now raised with this design which makes it’s easy to turn and I use the dial every day!! Very sturdy and a nice size as I have one fat cat!
The cat flap was easy to fix and my cat enjoys going in and out without any problem.

They last 2 to 4 years for us, then electronics seem to fail. Will stay with them though, partly because they do work well and partly because they are a straight replacement so no need to make holes larger etc.
This has been brilliant at keeping unwanted visitors out which was becoming a problem. Overall im loving it, our cat found it easy to use. Occasionally he steps back so it locks again but he seems to understand trying again and going straight through. I was a bit dissapointed that 2 screw heads snapped off as it was beinv installed, so had to get some other screws to finishing fitting (hence 4 stars). Rest of the cat flap seems good quality.
This is my third cat mate pet mate electromagnetic cat flap over a 14 year period. The first one died after constant use for 11.5 years, however unfortunately the second cat flap died last week when the red locking electromagnetic snapped off below the door line. Fingers crossed this one will have a longer shelf life.
2 electromagnetic keys are included and you can buy spares too. My kitten found it very easy to work out how to unlock” the door coming inside. Very easy to clean and well made. Spares can also be obtained via pet mates website.
his is the second purchase of this model for us. our cat weighs 8 kilos and he barges in and out. it has withstood all the battering very well. we only needed to buy a second flap because we are having a new door fitted.
Excellent item, Excellent price, Prime delivery. The price was the best I found through Amazon and ebay. It arrived the next day. The installation took 20 minutes while drinking tea. It works great!!! Is up to the cats now to be convinced to go through it!!!…..they hate the cold weather outside and prefer to poop inside….PFFFFF!!!

A good purchase
Was glad to find this. Already have one that’s years old. We are using this one in the summerhouse. Well made and last for ages.
Bought to replace our old damaged cat flap and fits perfectly. Added bonus that we no longer have a cat flap that bangs with the slightest gust of wind. Prevents other cats getting in as well.
Have used these cat flaps for a while now. They work well, but they don’t like getting wet. So be careful when fitting.
When I 1st had my cat I chose this particular cat flap unit to be fitted in the new external kitchen door because of the 4-way locking ability was perfect for all my needs. It lasted 10years and would still of been ok if not for the shadow boxing the cat chose to do on it fighting the bigger cats from the relative safety of indoors. So over time the flap and whole unit took a battering. I’m happy to say she’s grown out of that phase now.
So when choosing a replacement unit it was a simple choice and much easier to pick the exact same one because size wise the fitting would be simple.
I found Amazon to be the cheapest by far than anywhere else I looked with most units selling upwards of 50!!
The Cat Mate crew have made a great adjustment to this latest model by making it a Soft Closing flap. Essentially by reducing the weight of the magnet and flap itself. This is a big improvement as the previous model used to bang shut every time it was used. Now I barely hear it at all.
A big plus point! The negative being that on occasion the flap doesn’t quite close because of the reduced strength of the magnet, but I haven’t experienced any unwanted visitors after 3months so I don’t see it as a problem.
Update:
Buy magnets via link below. Wrap Only 3 in cling film to protect from weather. Add a 4th to use the sticky label. Place outside of flap above where existing magnet is. This will prevent flap staying ajar. Problem solved and flap still closes quietly.

The unit works by installing a 9v battery (not supplied) which lasts absolutely ages as only a small current is needed. Your cat wears a magnet which you fit on the collar that isn’t too intrusive to them. Make sure the ‘paw’ is facing outwards.
The 4-way locking comprises:
* Fully Lock
* Fully Unlock
* Lock on the Inside
* Lock on the Outside
So for instance you can set it to lock from inside meaning your cat can enter (maybe last thing at night) then not get back out again. Or alternatively if you want your cat to stay out you can set it to prevent the cat coming back in until you are ready.
Only the cats with a magnet can enter through the flap, even if set to unlock.
This product is ideal if you either have one cat or you are happy for all your cats to follow the same regime.
If you have more than one cat and maybe you need to keep a kitten indoors then Cat Mate make a Micro Chip unit where by you can individually program each chip (again worn on the collar) to allow entry/exit.
I only have one cat at present so this suits all my needs.
Template and screw fixtures for different depth fittings and 2 collar magnets are all supplied.
Extra magnets can be bought seperately if you require more than two.

This item is grate i had same one which i bought few years ago and worked very very well
I have given this product 4 stars instead of 5 due to the fact that the screws supplied are rubbish, on screwing them in the heads snapped off 2 of them leaving the screw extremely difficult to remove. Having eventually removed the screws I used the old ones to replace. Other than that it is perfect.
As expected. Last one lasted 5 years and this new one is just as well made and fit exactly into place.
