Really happy with our purchase so far (2 weeks installed), was reasonable easy to install, if the instructions could have a bit more detailed, however we did manage to find a video on youtube. Really like the timer feature and the ability to ensure our black cat can’t go out after dark which gives real peace of mind.

    Would recommend.

On my second one, both have been great. However, I now live in a bungalow and the magnetic release mechanism is a bit noisy at night. Apart from that can’t fault it.

This cat flap is rubbish. Intermittent recognition of the microchip, the ID tags only work intermittently and my cats spend most of their time outside trying desperately hard to get in. It’s so unreliable the cats have lost their confidence using it. Avoid this cat flap at all costs and save your money

Installed in a UPVC door and works flawlessly. Very easy to install and instructions are easy to follow. Sometimes if the cat puts it head and shoulders through the door as if it was going out but decides not to go out fully, the indicator shows that the cat is out of the house, however, the indicator is only a guide and shouldn’t be relied on totally. Overall I would give this product a 10 out of 10.

There’s a steep learning curve to setting up this cat flap, thanks largely to the poorly written and badly formatted manual. Once configured, however, it worked reliably for me for almost 4 years.

Initial installation was tricky, though. If the flap is too high, the cat’s microchip won’t be read properly by the tunnel sensor on entry, so I had to construct an outside step for my cat so that it entered the tunnel straight-on, rather than at an upward angle.

4 years on, though, and the flap no longer works — I have the same random lock/unlock problem, with the four-way control setting have little bearing on what the lock is doing. This isn’t a battery issue, so it looks like some electronic glitch I can’t resolve. I’ve been sufficiently satisfied with this model to replace it with another, though.

One more thing –I happened to chance upon one of our cats battering this flap from the inside while it was locked about a year ago, and heard the locks suddenly retract –allowing the cat through. That’s not normal behaviour, so I wonder if that was the start of the electronics failure –and hopefully not some sort of safety mechanism to prevent damage to the flap from a determined cat…

This cat flap which only lets my cat in using it’s chips Is great. It was easy to install and program and definitely less traumatic for kitty. Our old cat flap gave you 20 seconds to catch the cat, scan like a grocery item and then press the button to accept. This model gives you plenty of time, just let the cat walk through the hole and hey presto all done and a quick press to accept.
Definitely one of the easier models we’ve purchased for our fur babies to have access to the house without stray intrusions.
I would definitely recommend this product.

I had a professional fitter to fit it but he didn’t have any problems with it. This cat Flap is worth every penny. Just make sure that the microchip has registered properly by holding your cat still for a few seconds and give them time to get used to the sound of it. Persevere and you will find it invaluable.

    Absolutely brilliant !

Bought this after reading other reviews. My installation was more difficult as it had to go through a wall and required extension pieces. It is not clear how many of these you require and I ended up ordering 6 instead of 5. This was not an issue as returned one to Amazon. (had to pay postage though). When screwing the internal part to the wall I had to angle the screws at 45 degrees away from the opening as the breeze block was just crumbling away near the opening with my first attempt. Use long screws with a washer and angle as described above and you should have no problem.

    Well made uni

I had to get this microchip cat flap as other cats were coming in to the house, eating the cat food and frightening my cat Milly. I already had a cat mate door fitted and it was for large cats and small dogs so I was unsure if this new cat mate would fit the hole in the door and not be too small. It fitted great and it was easy to program Milly to it . She is slowly getting used to it – is a bit unsure about the clicking noise as she uses it. I am very pleased with it.

Bought as replacement for previous version that wore out! This one is improved electronics and easier to program. Cat soon got used to electric whirring of flap lock as he associates it with flap open. Display shows you when cat in or out on the prowl. This version ideal for door installation. Cat has chip and device easily reads it, so no need for manual locks etc. Better than magnetic lock devices as had one of these (Cheaper) before but magnet on cat collar would pick up metallic rubbish (nails and sharp objects) on cats travels! Definitely recommend Cat Mate Elite Microchip cat flap. Easy to install as long as you are competent and follow “Measure twice, cut once” methodology

I’m waiting for this to be installed into a glass door however the item is in working order, it looks good quality. I think my cat will take time getting used to it. It makes quite a loud noise when it opens which she’s a bit scared of so pairing her microchip to it proved difficult.
