Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersA confession; I woke up one morning to see an email informing me that this was to be delivered. This is what happens when you have to much to drink the night before, and start browsing…

Anyway… This turned out to be an excellent buy (even my wife thinks so!). The basics of assembling are simple, and there are videos online to assist you if the cryptic ‘instructions’ defeat you. We had it on the garden for three weeks during the height of summer, and it behaved perfectly. It’s airy, and protects you from UV, and does survive showers and prolonged rain nicely. I didn’t initially peg it down, and it tried to fly away when we had a particularly breezy day. Once it was pegged down it stayed in place regardless of the wind strength. We also bought a side wall for privacy and that worked well too.

An excellent alternative to a gazebo!

Event canopy is great its the second one as the first one got wrecked in 50mph winds.
The new one turned up with damage to the fly screen but OK. No room from amazon just to complain and not return to coleman we use it for 4 months of the year they are brilliant.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersOnce you get it up it is great but you really need to follow the instructions to get it done properly, it fairly straight forward to assemble but you need to follow the sequence else the sheet and frame is a nightmare to pair up.
Our first night of having it up we were warned of high winds so I staked the feet down with three pegs each and used the guy lines and centre pegged them. During the night there were some atrocious blustery winds that broke lesser awnings but the Coleman Remained.

All in all very happy with the purchase.

    Read the instructions!

Its a pain to erect and needs 2 people however with a few uses it will become second nature. I advise buying heavy duty ground pegs as the ones provided are unfit for purpose if any wind at all. Skin is good quality and appears waterproof albeit if used on open ground the dew will stick to the underside and drip for a while when the sun comes up.

I like it. Its not perfect but its the best available for the money and the side walls (bought seperately) are good.

Saved our bacon on a wet camping trip. A lot more water/weatherproof than other reviews suggest, though a sidewall is a must in any cold wind/rain to keep everyone happy. Plenty of room for 2 families in camping chairs and a table underneath. The only criticism is that the straps are poorly designed. No instructions on how they fit and they get in the way, creating a trip hazard for both the kids and drunky-monkey adults! I guess Coleman want to sell you a floor mat or carpet to reduce that issue?

Bought this in July and left it up until September. Really good in our amazing summer. It’s easy to put up and take down. Plenty of space inside. We sat 6 at a round table inside for a Barbie with enough space for a side table for serving and another for drinks. It appears to be well made and sturdy when erected.

Golden Review Award: 35 From Our UsersWith the hot summer and having a young child we wanted a suitable shelter to play outdoors, in the past we have had the more traditional type of gazebo with the cloth fabric covering. After sustained sun these more traditional gazebo’s would weaken and the material tear, this shelter however uses the same material as a camping tent which means it is more durable with the added benefit of being waterproof! We have left this up since the beginning of summer (now Sept) and it has withstood heavy wind and rain, baking hot sun and a child bashing things into it…… it still looks brand new!

The shelter is easy enough to put up, you can do it with one person although two will make the job a lot quicker!

It stayed up well at a very wet and blustery village fete, when other gazebos blew away. It is only water resistant, not waterproof, so there were drips, but that was to be expected. Easy to make the shelter too wide and therefore low – check the distance between poles before securing corners to prevent this. Looking forward to using it in sunny weather!

Ok it takes two to put up for ease. It stood up to the storms with just a little water coming in through the top vent.
Tip first lay out and peg the ground strap this gives you the correct size. Once you have put the shelter up. Take up the strap it’s just something to trip over and is not needed.
I have brought three other Gazebo,s None are half as good as this.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersDon’t know where all these other bad reviews are coming from. We have been using one of these as a shelter for our hot tub, it has been screwed down to our decking for the last year (yes 12 months) and has withstood a great deal of a battering from the weather, i live on the east coast of Yorkshire in the UK so we get very strong winds blowing in!!! and it has withstood them. The shelter itself has a couple of small tears now, most probably due to being in situ for 12 months and being battered by the lovely UK weather, however it is still up and i am still using my tub in all weathers..No Leaks of any sorts. I would not hesitate in buying another, if i can get 12 months+ from each one i will be more than happy.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAwesome piece of kit. They are quite the rage on the campsites….lots of families sporting the Coleman Event Shelter for doing their cooking and eating under. I had ‘shelter envy’ and succumbed. It’s not cheap but is a galaxy away from the standard green and white marquee from the DIY shops with a million poles all with different numbers…then renders itself useless once you lose the all important instructions.
This one practically builds itself and after briefly glancing at the instructions first time round never needed to again. Its superior in quality, a great size (can have at least 8 eating on 2 tables as well as yr cooking area, shelving and bags etc) and best of all, looks very cool too.

I love this shelter for the build quality and design. The only little downside is that because of how sturdy it is it is not really portable piece of kit and it takes quite a lot of space in a car. Other than that, brilliant piece of kit.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is a pretty good shelter. I had my reservations from so many negative reviews but I took it to Devon for 8 days camping recently and it stood up to the 30mph winds we had some days, perfectly well.
If it is erected and guyed out properly you won’t have any problems with it. As far as being waterproof, it’s not, but it can stand the odd heavy shower. One day, it rained for 18 hours non stop. It did leak in certain places but still a worthy shelter from constant rain. No worse than your average gazebo. Because of its shape, it’s a very cozy, practical shelter and with a few sun walls attached, it really cuts out any breeze or wind.
As mentioned previously, if erected correctly and guyed out securely it’s a great shelter. I’m perplexed by so many 1 star reviews.
Btw, buy it at the right time on Amazon and you will get an amazing bargin!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHave two of these and up until last week was wholly satisfied being used over a tent to provide a large sitting/ prep area using the optional side panels. On this occasion we experienced very heavy rain and was surprised to have drips coming in from various places …… on close examination it would seem that at the point where the velcro loops are fitted the stitching has stretched creating small holes – enough to allow water to pass…… grrrrr
I am now looking at repairing all the seams rather than just the velcro loop fixings ….
My message – be aware that these are the weak points and are liable to fail at some stage in terms of water ingress….

Really pleased with this shelter, very easy to put up and take down and a really good size (we considered getting the bigger version but glad we got this one, happily kept 2 families dry and under cover).

As a measure of robustness, we took this camping last weekend and put it up in pouring rain and howling wind. The next 48 hours continued to be very wet and windy and it held very firm. Some of the usual ‘square’ gazeebos got flattened or blew down!

i have used the Coleman shelter for several years now, for events at home but also when camping. It performs well under all circumstances except rain where it leaks through the stitching as it has neither sealed seams or used hydrophobic material for the stitching; this causes it to drip when under quite a lot of rain.

I would suggest getting the sides as well to help with the wind or sun.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have used this regularly for our annual camping trips and am very happy with it. We erect this in between our tents and this acts as our eating and general meeting area for the families involved. In the evenings we put in the sides and we end up with a snug seating area we can all fit in which is out of the wind and warms up. I only had one disaster which ended up with a pole being bent, this was because I hadn’t put in all the guy lines because of the location of the tents around it and it was very windy one night and caught the corner that wasn’t tied down adequately. One complaint is that you cannot get replacement poles which is very short sighted of Coleman. A family member sorted it but not everyone can do that. The shelter took on some very bad weather at one point and yes, it did leak along the poles after some time but it was more than incredibly grim on the outside of the shelter and even then, we managed and the kids stayed dry and entertained as we just avoided where it was dripping. Where it did drip, it didn’t pour through so wasn’t dire. This could be a slight design flaw with the vent at the top but saying that, it is fine in drizzle and light showers.

This shelter is superb and very effective against sun which is low in the sky in autumn due to its curved structure. Needs two to assemble but frame fits together easily and clicks in to the base. We use it on a terrace so have made some concrete feet which the base units are bolted into and the curved bars can then be slotted into these when it is reassembled. We would give it 5 stars but have to say that unclicking the poles from the bases is tricky and wonder if Coleman could supply a tool for the purpose? Nevertheless the whole structure is super, strong and waterproof. Would recommend to anyone

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWe purchased this event shelter in 2012 and we are still very pleased. During our summer we’ve had it up over the patio as a more permanent feature and its stood up to Scottish wind and rain no probe thanks to the vents at the top. We glamp ours up with fairy lights. Took it camping in France for two weeks and it was so useful. Plenty room to stand up, dine, cook brilliant.

We are now going to purchasing two side walls for it. We’ve also seen a halogen patio heater to go in it. The design of the shelter means it can capture heat and become quite cosy on a chilly evening.

Finally and very importantly, our first shelter broke after only the second use – the interconnecting wire between poles actually snapped while I was trying to put it up. Without delay or quibble Amazon replaced the shelter and this new one (from 2012) has seen a lot of use without the slightest concern. Our friends always remark on how cool the event shelter is. It is awesome, get one -maybe even two! (they join together)

Good quality materials and pretty simple to put up with 2 people. THe metal poles are good and sturdy, not at all flimsy. The cover clips on around the poles very easily. You need to move the corner feet around a bit once it’s up to get the true square shape so all the feet are in the right place (nylon cord is supplied to make a right-angled triangle base so that the legs can be positioned properly). Lots of metal pegs provided.

We cooked under the dome whilst camping. It was a great sun shade too (yes, we did get some!!). Buy the sunwall too as it provided a nice wind break. It comes with a well-made hold-all bag to carry it in.

Only one drawback was that during a very heavy burst of rain there were 2 or 3 point where drips of water came through. OK, so this isn’t perfect but can be sorted with an application of a bit of water repellent to some of the seams. 8/10.

Bought this after much searching through reviews etc and alternatives. Very pleased. The instructions may be easy if you can decipher the Rosetta Stone, otherwise ignore them and use common sense. The poles are alreay connected in sets; once the sets are laid out and joints made, it’s very obvious how to fit them, then slide the cover over. Put it up in a bit of wind but it was not difficult. The fabric seems reasonably good quality, lightweight. It would be useful to know the UV protection rating, but not essential. Overall, good value in my opinion.

We bought this for grandchildren to play under, in the garden, on sunny days. We have, also, used it on a family camping holiday, using 3 pitches, for all gathering under. It has been very useful since we got it. I would have given it 5*s but it does leak when it rains heavily. The seams leak and water runs down the poles. You can position yourself to avoid the drips but that limits the number of people that can shelter. I know it not “waterproof” and only provides protection from light rain but it would be better if it was waterproof.

We have an Outwell Nevada M tent for which we wanted to add some additional shade/space. The Coleman Event Shelter 12×12 worked perfectly on our recent holiday in France. It provided shelter from the sun and brief bit of rain we had. We purchased two sides which again sheltered us from early or late evening sun when we didn’t want it, also protected from wind. As other reviews have commented, the side walls do stop a few inches from the ground but this was not a problem, if you want to be completely sealed in then it is a ‘tent’ you are looking for not a ‘shelter’. This was perfect for our family of four, dining table with chairs, hired fridge, utility boxes and cooker all fitted easily, much better than the tent extension we used last year (left that at home this year). I would highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDead easy to erect, and super size for what I wanted. Bought to replace a gazebo which bent on 2 use, I’d thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for a gazebo!

Event shelter is easy to erect, looks very smart. Just ensure you have feet evenly spaced before attaching sun wall.

great shelter, but had a minor fault, one of the leg straps had not been stitched at 1 end, only found this when I was proofing it so had to repair myself, also if you are buying sides/doors for the shelter no room to store these items in the same bag, this could be made better.

Forget buying a gazebo, they are a constant letdown & never live long. The event shelter is sturdy even in a gale, the sun protection is a bonus, especially if you have young childre

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersOn first glance out of the bag, it’s a puzzle, and the instructions don’t help much. Then some clever people looked at it, and it was blindingly obvious and easy to erect in five minutes with four people.
Point to note: use the loop of tape provided to get the feet positioned correctly once it’s assembled, or it will be unstable, the openings will be too low, and the poles will be under a damaging amount of strain. To use it, peg one foot of the shelter down. Move the other feet so that the tape forms an isosceles triangle when the little plastic bits are next to the feet. That makes it square – twelve feet square!
Properly erected, this works well in the wind.

As I was using this for the 1st time, I was a little worried about how it would go up in the wind with only 2 adults! But is was amazing to erect, you can do most of it at ground level including securing the actual shelter.
Then just add the bottom legs, and clip in to your already pegged out feet.
This shelter is super sturdy in wind and we didn’t even use the guide ropes.
If I had any criticism at all it would be that it’s a little low in places. But overall really pleased and an excellent price!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersBought one of these for our family camping holiday in Cornwall in 2012. Very easy to setup, looks really cool and we found the 12’x12′ more than large enough for a family of 4. The 15’x15′ could be a bit big for some of the campsites we have been in. We used it as a cooking and sitting area and it proved invaluable as the weather in Cornwall was unusually wet and windy. The shelter was very dry throughout and the 2no side walls we had helped keep the prevalling winds at bay. Unfortunately while we were away one particularily windy day, the shelter blew over and 2no poles on one leg were badly damaged. We managed to do a temporary repair but we were very disappointed to find on our return home that Coleman do not supply spare parts for these shelters. If you buy one of these shelters also make sure you buy 4 heavy duty anchor pegs (screw in type or similar) as the pegs supplied are not up to the job of anchoring the foot plates and the poles seem to be prone to damage if the shelter is blown over. Also make sure that you peg out all of the guy ropes, even if it is not particularily windy. I would have given this product 5 stars had there been spares available for it.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersA brilliant piece of kit. We took it on our camping holiday and it withstood a massive thunderstorm with lightning and a thorough pelting of hailstones! It housed all our chairs, food, cooking equipment and dog with dog bed. The only downside is it leaks slightly at the seams in the roof, but that can be easily remedied. The sunwall doors work a treat as well. When we arrived home from our camping trip we had to do a 180 mile round trip to visit our niece’s birthday party. We used the shelter again where it became a shelter from the wind, enabled us to cook food and acted as a nappy changing area! We have gazebos at home and that is where they are staying! This events shelter is much lighter and far superior for going away with. I would not hesitate to thoroughly recommend it.

We bought this ‘Coleman event shelter’ for using with our caravan, serves has a shelter to dry our dogs in, plus to keep the sun from burning us and the dogs, well worth the money.
We have bought ‘Coleman’ things in the past , always value for money.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis Event Shelter was marvellous, we used it as an awning to our tent and it was perfect for keeping rain out of the door and for relaxing under when the sun came out!!! There were some very strong winds and the Shelter stood up very well to them as we had used the guy ropes and strong pegs and there was no movement or worry that the poles wouldn’t cope. We had a sidewall on the side facing the wind and it was invaluable in keeping the wind out of the tent and we unclipped the top segment to let some wind through so there was no solid face to the wind. I had all the cooking equipment against the sidewall and it was lovely to cook outdoors, but protected. Several people on the campsite came over to admire it!
