Technology, Meet Tradition.
Our glowing reviews aren’t a coincidence — they’re the result of our commitment to quality, starting with the primary materials we use.
Every line of knives sources premium steel from Japan, America, Germany, Sweden & China.
These premium imported materials are painstakingly assembled by expert bladesmiths in a state-of-the-art facility within YangJiang, China — a city with a renowned knife crafting tradition dating back over 1400 years.
These highly trained craftsmen spend anywhere from 30-60 days on each knife, painstakingly hand-polishing and hand-finishing the blades and handles using the 3-step Honbazuke honing method.
This traditional Japanese process is married with high-tech processes such as Cryo-tempering which improves the steel’s crystalline structure (making them stronger). This merging of modern technology allows us to achieve exceptional quality while keeping the costs of our knives lower for our customers.
Where are Dalstrong Knives Made?
Every single one of our knives is painstakingly assembled by expert bladesmiths in a state-of-the-art facility within YangJiang, China — a city with a renowned knife crafting tradition dating back over 1400 years. Today, Yangjian holds the title of National Capital of Knives and Scissors, exporting to more than 100 countries and accounting for 60% of all knife product exports in China.

I bought this knife because I have several other Dalstrong knives which are amazing quality and my curiosity got the better of me on this seemingly irrelevant piece of cutlery. Firstly, it’s much bigger and more substantial than it appears in the picture. It can spread butter or anything else that is relatively soft over an entire slice of bread in one fell swoop. There is no clumping of streaking so the layer can be finely spread over the whole slice with complete evenness. It’s also razor sharp for slicing so no need to use two separate knives for spreading and cutting.
It’s also a great talking point when guests come around and it brings a smile to everyone’s face…….including mine.
Usually when something has many purposes, it doesn’t do any of them that well. Not true for this amazing knife! This sandwich utility knife is by far the best bread knife I’ve ever used. No crumbs whatsoever when cutting bread, hard or soft bread. For that alone I gave it five stars, but it is an amazing knife overall. It just glides when it cuts. I’ve used about 6 different Dalstrong knives and I think this one’s my favorite.
Knife came in a beautiful package. Was excited to open it. When I opened it the knife was what I was expecting. The pictures make the Damascus steel much more prominent than it actually is. The steel has dull mate finish and almost looks like it has water stains or wasn’t washed properly. The knife is still a nice piece but wasn’t what I was expecting based on the pictures in the ad.
I wasn’t sure what to expect as this knife was the first Dalstrong I ordered. I make a lot of sandwiches and was tired of pulling out the massive bread knife all the time. This knife allows me to cut meats and cheeses AND cut the finished sandwich in half. It feels great in my very small hand, is sturdy and durable, allows for a great pinch grip if I want to, and yes…it looks good! I realize it’s made in China, but this feels like a higher quality knife than others actually made in Japan. Because of that, I also ordered additional Dalstrong knives. This one’s a bit pricey for a utility knife, but it’s going to last me a very very long time, so I consider it money well spent. In fact, it’s my favorite knife at the moment!
This is a versatile kitchen blade. Well constructed, hefty, Japanese steel AUS 10. It’s useful and versatile for multiple tasks. Spreader, slicer, smaller bread knife, bagels, vegetables. It’s a general purpose utility knife.
This is my new favorite Shogun series knife (of 16, total). This is no little, flimsy knife. Much larger and sturdier than expected. Definitely my go-to knife going forward. Thanks Dalstrong!
BENE, PRODOTTO BELLISSIMO QUALIT, PERFORMANTE, PUNTA ARROTONDATA, NIENTE INCIDENTI, IO PERSONALMENTE LO DEFINISCO UN SAMURAI, TAGLIA TUTTO E BENE SENZA STRACCIARE LA MATERIA. MARCHIO DALGSTRONG CONSIGLIATISSIMO.
One of the most interesting knives in my bag. Gets a couple of laughs from the boys, but I like to use it because its versatile. Great for bbqs and sandwich making. Personally would love to have an extra inch on the blade.
work great for slicing bagel or ticker bread or to apply spreads.
unique design… sharp looking knife
well balanced; it is a heavier knife; grip is just perfect;
its not a knife essential in the kitchen, but it complete well the knifes we use
i definitally recommend i
This is the coolest blade I own. I had 2 spreader knives before of different lengths and 1 week later they are history. This knife is part straight edge knife, part serrated blade and the rest is a long spreader all built into one. Best way to describe it. You can spread stuff with it, pull peanut butter out of a jar, slice a sandwich in half or chop up cheese into nice pieces. I reach for this blade all the time. It is expensive but had the weight in the handle feels awesome in your hand. I love it. Could not be more perfect as the all purpose utility knife.
I have a series of Dalstrong knives, all are excellent quality, I recommand the Shogun series, they are sharper and holds there sharpness much longer. As for this knife, same excellent quality, a bit tip heavy it will surprise you the first time but does the job perfectly.
Decided to upgrade and invest in some quality cutlery, was very pleased with what I received with this Dalstrong Gladiator utility knife. Lovely finish, razor sharp edge, beautiful tool. Great value too, no need to spend $200-300 in a knife store, save and buy more knives!
Can’t speak highly enough of this company and their products. Beautiful, functional and backed by a company that prides themselves on the quality of their products.
Have purchased 2 knives from Dalstrong for myself and a few for others as gifts. I will continue building my collection as well as gifting them to others. They’re that good.
Larger than I expected so it has replaced a cheap santoku blade in our knife block. Very sharp and it should stay that way quite a while, or so says the included booklet, which also says infrequent honing and sharpening is recommended. 8-12 degree edge!
The knife is interesting. Someone else posted the term ‘sandwich knife’ which is a good place to start.
The blade is sharp, longish with a flat presentation edge – great for cutting through breads, bagels, tomatoes, onion. Because it is sharp – you can get thin slices of virtually anything. The tip is great for getting into jars – might as well get that slather of mayo if you’re making a sandwich right?
It does a lot well – I find myself using it in place of my chef knife quite often. It will be interesting to see how the edge holds up.
The edge is unique so I’ll be interested in how the first sharpening goes. The blade is engraved to perhaps mimic the appearance of Damascus steel which it is not. Looks nice – not Damascus.
Packing is really top end – and the blade sheath is well made with a neat and SIMPLE ‘pin on a string’ locking mechanism. You can tell that real designers had a hand in the presentation – it’s that visually interesting AND functional. Great job by the packaging team.
Decent value, good performer so far.
An excellent knife. Sharp. Easy to hold. Easy to use. A sharp knife is less likely to cut you than a dull one, I read, since you don’t have to exert much pressure to cut stuff. I do recommend you study knife skills for whatever knives you use. This does wonders on making sandwiches or also in other kitchen prep. I am buying 4 more–hey Christmas isn’t all that far away!
My new favorite knife I have tried a few brand reccomend for a novice like me. Tried $20-50, J.A. Henckels, Allezola, and some other knifes and found my old knife was my new favorite. Allezola was my top pick, its sharp but it felt a little cheap. (Dont get me wrong it was a great knife for $50) I am starting to cook again and felt i needed some with more durability dont want to have to buy a knife again anytime soon. I found this brand and did a lot of research people seem to REALLY like these knifes. I went with the top tier shogun and ordered a 3″, 3.5″, 6″, 8″ and 10.25″ to get me going until I need or save more for 2 more knifs. I got It super fast, was very sexy out of the box. I was washing the 8″ down with a sponge and underestimated this thing. I barely touched the sponge knifs edge and poor sponge got destroyed. I tried a few and LOVE them, you do get what you pay for for knives for sure. I gave my mom old knives since they were worse than my new ones, but better then her old ones. Only thing I am worried about is cutting myself by accident on blood thinners. 😮 This knife is a great servant and you are the master. Dont f up or else I am sure you are in for great pain. Nice thing about that is no one else wants to use them due to this. So they are all mine. My preciousssss
I would have given 5 stars, but the blade wasn’t as sharp as it should be. I contacted the company and they rectified the situation immediately. Outstanding customer service! The new blade is perfect!!
I’ve used this odd little knife for a month now. Daily use. Here’s my review.
I’m pretty good with a knife. I used to be a professional chef and I got there by way of prep-cook, so I’ve learned how to use one and more importantly, I’ve developed habits, some good, some bad, that are very hard to unlearn at this point.
Firstly, the knife is beautiful and well made, but you knew that. Top tier steel and a lovely wood handle make it a joy to look at. This is true for all Dalstrong knives. Though I’d warn them about their silly box presentations and included lapel pins and all that; it comes off as desperate. Make a good knife, which you do, and leave it at that. Let it do the talking. This one does.
It’s a little weird at first. I couldn’t understand what I had bought. I tried first to slice a tomato. It did fine but I didn’t understand what the fuss was about. So I sliced a bagel. Okay, same thing. Did a good job but, so would any good knife. But wait – no crumbs. No juice. So I sliced some other things. This makes great incision-style slices that don’t pull or remove matter with each draw or push. You wouldn’t saw with a chef’s knife, and you wouldn’t chop with this one, but add this to your precision utensils and be amazed at what an impact this subtle design can have. I love it.
But it’s best part is that it’s a quality knife that your other kitchen dwellers can use without worrying about that pointy end or the weight or length of a true chef’s knife. My wife won’t use any of my knives; she’s not really into cooking and gets mad at me while I wince at her exposed fingertips and palm-down holds with wayward thumbs. But with this knife she’s much more comfortable, allowing her to cut things like bread or vegetables into her salad or lunch without having to bother with my knife or some cheapo alternative.
So I highly recommend it. Once you figure out how you’ll use it and for what, you’ll be in love with it and reach for it frequently. Dalstrong is my favorite knife maker hands-down, for quality, value, beauty, and function.
This knife is larger than I expected, and I’m very pleased with it. Makes a nice spreader and large enough to cut a whole bagel. I just wish the two item discount code worked!
Dalstrong makes great knives. I have 4 of them (2x Shogun, 2x Ceramic) and they’re all I need and the only thing I ever grab. Picked up this one while looking for a spreader to help with making lunches for me and my 3 boys. Looked at a few cheap ones, but when I found Dalstrong made one, the search was over.
When it comes to wide mouth jars/containers (Whole Foods fresh ground peanut butter, Kirkland jelly, Sir Kensington’s mustard, etc), it works great. Grabs the perfect amount and spreads nicely. I can imagine smaller jars being a bit more difficult or impossible, as the knife is much larger than most spreaders in every way. The extra nice thing is that it’s super sharp, great for cutting sandwiches, slicing bagels and chopping up veggies, so its uses don’t stop at spreading and further justifies the price.
Wow. Perfect fit & finish, beautiful knife….& yes, Dalstrong does go a long way in the presentation of their knives. ‘First thing I did upon receiving this knife was to cut my breakfast sandwich into (perfectly clean) sections 🙂 These DO live up to the hype. I own several Miyabis, higher end Wusthofs (Ikon), Henckels, etc. & these are right up there with them.
Seller feedback: Amazing transaction in every way. World class knives, at a fraction of the price of competitors (Not to downplay the competitors, Miyabi, Shun, Yaxell, etc. also make AMAZING knives). I’ve seen, in doing my research, that Dalstrong offers EXCELLENT customer service as well. They take customer feedback & satisfaction very seriously. I will definitely be a repeat customer!
I bought this knife because I have several other Dalstrong knives which are amazing quality and my curiosity got the better of me on this seemingly irrelevant piece of cutlery. beautiful knife. Sharp edge. Has held up well over the last year.

Ottimo coltello molto versatile per gli usi pi disparati. Affetta meravigliosamente l’arrosto appena uscito dal forno.
It’s great. It adds a lot to the sandwich making process. Worth it.

Easy to use and clean
Stays sharp
I’m a chef working in restaurants for over 10 years.
LOVE THE QUALITY AND BUILT!!!
I like this but the blade is a little thick. Great value for the money.
Very sharp out of box…Really with the money….Pleasure to work with..
High quality product!! Multi use and is great in all of them. Highly recommended.
