My son already has one of these machines so I was very familiar with what I was getting.
Easy to use, clean and makes coffee just the way I like it.
Just for the record my son loves his machine also and not had any issues with it in the 12 months he has owned it.
Easy to set up, simple to use and keep clean.

I was looking through my old Amazon purchases for something else when I noticed that I bought this coffee machine exactly ten years ago (The price back then was 248).

It’s made 4-6 mugs of coffee practically every day during that time, with no maintenance other than hoovering out the stray ground coffee and a flush every two months and . Speaking of which, you do know that you don’t need to by the sachets of DeLonghi cleaning stuff, don’t you? Any coffee machine cleaning solution will do.

It can use ground coffee also through a hatch in the top of the machine, but don’t do it – it’s a messy nightmare

Overall This is a great coffee machine – don’t hesitate to buy one. And if anyone from DeLonghi is reading, hit me up about an upgrade 😉

Well where do I start! I absolutely love it! After spending time researching different models to replace my old bean to cup machine I decided on this and I am so happy so far! Coffee is hot and strong and tasty!
It was easy to set up and was making great coffee in about 10 minutes. I haven’t worked out all the features yet but looking forward to experimenting. Initial review though I would highly recommend! Milk is frothed beautifully and as someone who loves strong coffee it’s hitting all my expectations! I do currently have very strong beans which may be a factor but coffee is lovely! Much better than my last machine.
Temperature- I haven’t adjusted the setting but the temperature is good I was worried as I’ve seen reviews on lots of models that mention the milk isn’t hot and coffee is not hot but I have not had any issues with this model drinks are hot and keep temperature well in a double walled insulated glass mug (which I bought from Amazon at the same time)
Cleaning- milk system is easy to rinse, coffee grounds come out as very dry pucks so are easy to remove and rinse, I haven’t had to do maintenance cleaning yet so can’t comment.
Water tank: the feature where you don’t have to pull completely out and can top up using a jug is great. I keep a jug under it when switching on and off so drip tray has not needed emptied or cleaned yet so this is a top tip.
Size and appearance: machine is much smaller than my previous machine and fits nicely under the cupboard and is a really nice looking unit- seems well made and components aren’t particularly flimsy.
I will try and update this review if I learn anything new but my general comment is this is a relatively cheap model but does not disappoint- I didn’t want to spend a fortune so this was a decent price for an excellent machine and if you love coffee like me I don’t think you will be disappointed!

How have I not had one of these before! Love love love it! If you like coffee you’ll love this machine. It’s easy to use with push button operation, I avoided the digital one due to poor reviews. A little noisy but nothing too bad, grinds the coffee, brews it, self cleans before operation and when you switch off (automatic switch off after 15 minutes). Easy to fill the water container which just slides out. The waste coffee is dropped into a container which is part of the drip tray, easy to empty and clean. I have not tried steaming milk yet as I drink my coffee black. Waiting for my latte loving daughter to visit! Would definitely recommend

I have had the machine two months. I use beans. After a bit of trial and error I got the grind and quantity to suit my taste and also temperature hot enough. The quality of the brew is excellent. Controlling quantity is easy enough and with the adjustable spouts you can raise the assembly to use a regular coffee mug, and lower it for a small espresso cup. The footprint was a deciding factor as I don’t have a big work surface, and it fits nicely.

A few niggles. 1) A transparent cover for the bean hopper would be useful to see when it needs topping up to avoid running out in mid-grind. 2) The container for the coffee grounds has to be emptied after 5 or 6 grinds which is more frequent than my old machine – 20 plus. 3) Nooks and crannies make it a bit fiddly to clean out inside, particularly since this has to be done from the front rather than side access.

One other thing: the outlet from the water reservoir dripped when I first got it, but this stopped after a few days, I suppose the seal swelled in contact with water once in use.

However, the quality of the brew is what counts: it is good machine and I would recommend it.

Use this with Lavazza Blue beans. Although it’s an expensive machine, it has more than paid for itself as no longer using coffee shops and takeaways.

I now make a travel mug full with lactose free milk and reheat in a microwave. The lactose free milk doesn’t form a skin and still tastes fresh when reheated.

Great coffee machine, took a few goes (days) to get the the right flavour and aroma and when you get there it’s great, then you just have work on the cup fill rate, I tend to jump from a cup to a mug.
Don’t be tempted to use cheap coffee beans, experiment with different brands and you’ll find the perfect coffee.

After reading all the reviews for this bean to cup coffee machine, we decided to take the plunge and buy it. So happy we did it produces a fantastic coffee and cappuccino.
The grinder is not as noisy as I had expected. The secret to keeping this machine in good order is to keep flushing and ensuring you clean the machine after each use.

It took a a while to get a coffee I liked to go with this machine, but now I have (Lavazza Expresso Barista) it makes great coffee, which is all that should matter?

    Minor downsides:

    * The warning lights don’t make it obvious what it needs sorting.
    * To change any of the default settings (auto switch off time, water temp, descale interval, etc.) I always have to go to YouTube to go through the steps as the supplied instructions are not clear.
    * Use the ground coffee chute for Decaf, but wasted a fair bit at first because the filter unit was in the wrong place – until you get used to it!
    * Can run out of water half way through a cup and the only way to fill the cup is to use the kettle

I can live with these irritants as I really like the coffee!

where people complain I’m happy the coffee is tasty and it tastes good to me and I’m the key, we consume 1 kg of coffee per week. I encourage and recommend it and I think that sometimes people don’t know each other about coffee and maybe that’s why there are different comments

This makes great quality coffee and it’s effortless. Use some good quality beans and you will get some delicious espresso out of it. You can use pre-ground coffee but why would you. You can’t beat freshly ground. The touch display with the icons makes this really simple to use. The steam wand takes some getting used to but makes delicious velvety milk once you nail it. The one benefit of having a steam wand is you can get the milk really hot compared to automatic milk frothing systems, it takes a little more time but for me it’s totally worth it.

I didn’t know how much I needed a bean-to-cup coffee machine until I tried this product. I did have a desire to buy this product at some point in my life as I heard great things about it, but I didn’t expect it to revolutionize my mornings. I really would recommend getting one if you enjoy drinking Costa, Starbucks, etc. coffees, and especially so if you work from home as you will have the coffee available on demand.

My partner and I used to drink instant coffee before and we did enjoy going to Starbucks from time to time to grab the proper cup of cappuccino, but the price is quite high and we didn’t want to make a habit of it. However, the price of the roasted beans, water filter, cleaning solution, etc. needed to consistently make coffee using this device is certainly much higher than instant coffee, it is still much much cheaper than any Cafe, and although it is more expensive than instant coffee it more than makes up in the taste and texture, it is a day an night difference, basically a cafe at home. Plus, if you are like us, you will enjoy making it yourself, you feel like a barista when deciding on the coffee origin, roast intensity, grind coarseness, extrusion time and water amount, milk type and steam intensity, it is fun and exciting.

This device works really well and makes amazing cups of coffee without failure, it is simple to operate, however, be sure to follow the steps to the letter, otherwise, you might make the same mistakes as me. During setup I didn’t turn the steam knob all the way, because I was afraid I would break something, this is an expensive device so you are a bit apprehensive in the beginning until you get confident that you are doing the right thing. And because of that, I had to call customer support, the first operator wasn’t really helpful and sent me some slightly unrelated videos and told me that I would have to return it in case I don’t get it working, however, the second operator I called was amazing and she guided me through each step, and then I realized that I haven’t turned the knob all the way.

A few weeks later when I was descaling the device, I was a bit impatient and I have messed up the descaling cycle, so I had to finagle it to the end so I could try again, and with a bit of patience, the device did start the process as is described in the manual. Basically what I am trying to say is that a display is such a useful thing to have on a device, as the flashing icons are not as easy to understand, e.g. slow vs fast blinking, if I encounter it for the first time, I might mistake one for another.

The device is quite bulky and requires some space in the kitchen, the water container is big and you don’t need to refill it often, after some 15 espressos. The spout is adjustable so it can fit various mug sizes, I like that it doesn’t have the milk container as it needs to be sanitized often I don’t mind frothing milk myself, however, the frothing wand is not as powerful and is not as good for steaming as the ones in coffee shops but for home use is adequate. Coffee tastes amazing, you just need to find the coffee roast you like and the appropriate settings for the end result. You are able to make espresso, doppio, coffee, long coffee, americano and hot water.

Other than a bit of confusion operating a manual, this device is performing admirably, it is easy to clean and fast. I even recommended it to my parents, but they ended up buying the previous model and are happy with it as well.
Therefore I would recommend this product to others as well as it is quality made, durable, easy to clean and maintain.

An amazing start to the day

I’ve never owned a proper coffee machine before but I decided to treat myself. It’s very easy to use, and produces consistently good coffee at the push of a button. The milk frothed works well, it’s easy to empty the grounds and refill the beans and the water. I’ve only tried it with beans so I don’t know how well it works with ground coffee but overall I’m really happy with it.

I’m completely new to using a coffee machine but no stranger to coffee. The thought of setting up a big machine like this was a bit daunting – however it turned out to be quite simple to use, despite the instruction booklet not being too helpful.

It is quite a large machine so do make sure you have the worktop space before ordering. I had to jiggle some things around to make it fit!

The machine itself looks very smart and impressive. It takes both ground coffee or beans. I have only used it with beans which is quite noisy while grinding the beans but can be forgiven for the delicious coffee it makes (and the fact it makes my kitchen smell like a fancy coffee shop.) I like how you can easily choose how strong you want your coffee too.

Both myself and my daughters favourite feature however is the milk frother. It both heats and froths milk to make absolutely delicious hot chocolate. It works perfectly with daughters oat milk.

I would say this machine is well worth the investment if you’re a coffee fan. I do wish it came with a milk jug – had to order one separately.

    Fancy coffee at home!

I found the instructions suboptimal: rather obscure diagrams, the parts list separate from the diagrams so you have to flick between, and no guide to one problem which occurred. But I persevered and am really enjoying the coffee now!

So for anyone struggling with the same thing: if the coffee isn’t coming at all, make sure that the dial on the top right hand corner facing you (the one near the frothy/spouty tap widget) is turned anti-clockwise.

Also, if the red “grounds” light keeps going on even after you’ve cleaned out the coffee grounds, make sure that you take out the tray with the coffee grounds in it whilst the machine is turned on- apparently, if you don’t, the sensor isn’t ever activated, so that the machine believes that the grounds tray is still full.

But it makes good coffee every morning and I’m pleased with it, a month into ownership.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSothis is our first ever coffee machine! I don’t drink coffee myself but before the pandemic my partner used to have a few takeaway coffees a week (usually Costa). He’s missed this with being out and about less (still in Covid times) so thought it might be a nice addition to it enjoy at home.

The machine itself is pretty sizeable, so make sure you actually measure up and consider this before you buy it. Thankfully we have a large worktop space in which to house it, without things looking crowded. The design is quite sleek and stylish and gives the feeling of a fancy cafe to your kitchen.

I was a bit daunted at the prospect of setting it up, but it was actually quite straightforward when following the instruction leaflet.

The front of the machine makes operation pretty self explanatory, because as well as having the coffee options as separate options on the buttons, there is also a graphic representation (espresso, coffee, long, Americano). I don’t have any other machines to compare it to, but I think it’s a great addition to be able to make two cups at the same time just by pressing the “x2” button.

My partner opts for a normal “coffee” in mild (mild, medium, strong being the options) and says it’s pretty comparable with takeaway coffees from Costa. Admittedly he is no coffee connoisseur but it means he’s more than happy with the machine, and it’s quite cool that we will be able to offer guests a fancy coffee when visiting.

One of the downsides, if you’re using this in the morning, may be that it’s quite loud! I don’t think it would be ideal to be using this if you get up much earlier than other family members who are still sleeping within earshot. Not an issue in our house as we’re both up at the same time, but one thing to think about.

I hadn’t thought that I would use this machine myself but on discovering the milk frother I actually realised I could make a very enjoyable hot chocolate, just like one in a cafe rather than the lacklustre thin ones you make at home. “Milk” frother is just how you refer to it, since you can obviously use non-dairy milks such as Oatly’s “Barista” vegan oat milk to great effect.

One of the main things for me about having something as a takeaway vs making it at home, is the amount of effort involved in a) making the thing and b) clearing up after the thing (cheese toasty maker, I’m looking at you!!)

Luckily there is minimal effort involved in keeping this machine going. Filling the water tank, filling the beans, emptying the grounds etc. is made simple by way of easy access. Having only used it for a short while we haven’t yet had a need to fully clean the insides, but there is a descaling product included for this purpose which will be needed before too long, since we’re in a very hard water area.

The tank holds approximately 5-6 cups so we generally don’t fill it too much, since I’m not sure it’s ideal to leave the water sitting there for days on end. I wouldn’t do this with the kettle so no reason to with this.

It’s obviously a bit of an initial outlay, but if you’re buying multiple takeaway coffees and replacing it with this, you only need to add that all up to realise that it will quickly pay for itself (and hopefully better for the environment).

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI picked this up because the 2 lockdowns taught me that I really miss a good cup of coffee in the morning and having had a De’Longhi Nespresso machine, I was interested in giving a proper machine a try.

This coffee machine uses coffee beans or filter coffee that’s been specially ground for coffee machines (so *not* the filter coffee that you’d put in a cafetire). It’s a bit of a chunky beast (44x24x36cm) so you need to make sure you have room on your kitchen counter or sideboard for it. It’s also quite heavy at over 10kg so be aware of that – especially as I found it quite awkward to get out of the packaging (and it is very well packaged, securely put in polystyrene and wrapped in plastic bags). However I did like the silver design, which looks very smart and it does look like a high tech, high spec product.

My big negative about the machine is that the instructions are terrible. There’s a separate “easy set up” guide, which was anything but. I couldn’t make sense of the pictograms, which aren’t easy to follow and the main instruction booklet isn’t as comprehensive as I would have liked (although the information there was easier to follow). I ended up calling someone who has a similar machine to help me to make sure I’d slotted everything together properly and even now, I’m a little nervous about the steamer function.

Once it was set up though, the machine is surprisingly easy to use. It’s obvious where to put the beans in (or the filtered coffee) and there are 4 buttons for making espresso (40ml of coffee on default), coffee (180ml of coffee on default), a long coffee (160ml of coffee on default) or an Americano (40ml of coffee plus 110ml of water on default) (as you wish) plus a separate steamer for making worthy milk for cappuccinos or lattes. Note that it is easy to change the default settings if you wish.

I was very impressed with the quality of the coffee. I mainly use the coffee, long and Americano settings and all have been very good with no grind/grit. I also like the fact that the water unit is front facing and very easy to slide in and out and refill.

If you’re not used to coffee machines, then even thought the instructions here leave a lot to be desired, I’d still say to stick with it because you get a good product at the end and the machine is easy to use (literally touching the right buttons). If you’re a hardcore coffee then it may be too simple for you so I’d say this is more for people who want “real” coffee but don’t want to have to master a NASA style machine to get it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve used this a lot, excellent taste to the coffee I must say, I know it depends on the beans you use but you have a large choice on beans whereas the pod machines don’t. I’ve come from a Tassimo to a Nespresso to this and this is by far the best tasting coffee with 4 different types of beans.
The machine seems very big compared to the Nespresso and it’s not easily hidden in a smallish kitchen but once it was in I thought it looked very smart and happened to match some other kitchen appliances.

It’s mainly brilliant with a few niggles but at 419 I think it needs a delve. Loading the beans is easy on the top tray, just lift the lid and pour them in, the water is equally as easy to fill. The container is quite large but it does get through a lot with the warm up/cool down water use and steam option. Slick operation except my only gripe is that it tells you when the water is too low but it can be half way through a coffee then stop and tell you to refill without being able to carry on which is a waste of coffee unless you try and bodge another or just water, annoying. It grinds down and uses a hob nob double cream biscuit sized pucks worth for each coffee which is cleverly deposited in the lower tray.

One thing though is that it takes a good read through and a bit of trial and error to understand the functions but after using it for a few weeks I’m well into it now, still not sure the best way to turn the steam off though, not in the manual.

On startup and shutdown it whirs and shoot out a double whiskey amount of water to heat and clean the pipes which I still forget to put a cup there to catch or you hear the machine turn off after the timeout and curse again. It has a tray to catch it which soon fills, there is a little red tab that float up when it’s full but unless I look for it I never spot it. I’m being quite critical here.

The frother is good, tricky to work as there are no real instructions on it but the best I’ve figured I’d to press steam then turn to full then when done turn the dial fully off and quickly replacement with the catcher cup and turn the dial fully on which blasts the last of the steam through followed by water which cleans the tube then I wipe it down. The tube really could be longer so you can heat up small amounts in a jug for one coffee, it’s a little awkward but no problem once your used to it.

You can hold the coffee type button and let it start then press it again when its your chosen amount then it saves that as default for that button which is brilliant, you can match your mug size. Impressed with that, it also does a double espresso where you can do two at the same time which is great, shame you can’t do two of the larger coffees like that as well but it doesn’t let you, guess the coffee can only grind enough coffee for so much in one go.

I’m being very granular here but don’t get me wrong we both love the machine and haven’t gone back at all to our old machines, even with a draw full of pods, this is how much better the coffee is.

Oh and it works out cheaper than buying pods.

You can froth the milk for lattes and with an espresso it tastes exactly like a shop coffee it’s great, I’ve not enjoyed coffee so much for a long time or ever at home!!

    Excellent machine.

    Very good machine, superb taste

We can see the Delonghi quality in the coffee machine as well.
As a machine, its color shape design is very nice and it is easy to clean.
And you can prepare different kinds of cheap coffee at home.
When the month and year of drinking coffee outside is calculated, you can calculate how affordable the machine is.
At the same time, it is always at hand.
I use it a lot and recommend it.

De’Longhi Magnifica Evo bean to cup coffee machine a nice easy machine that makes lovely coffee. We had an old machine from the same manufacturer but a different machine, and it was lovely but it was a nightmare to set right and get coffee just how you like it. This is simple and makes amazing coffee. The milk troffer is on the side so not integrated but it just makes making coffee more fun in my eyes, you can get your milk to just how you want it, and also use it to make the most amazing hot chocolate, or mocha!!

So I was very excited to try this out. I have had few different models of the same De’longhi company. And this one is the best I ever had! so it comes nicely packed in the box, easy to put all parts in place. has a instuctions leaflet, testing strap, and some decalc liquid. the main coffe machine doesn’t work very loudly, has capacity for beans around 150g, can make 2 cups of expresso at the same time, can make “coffee” – this one is the strongest one. ” Long” – its more stronger than americano, but takes ages while maked 🙂 And americano – one of my favorite. I like more softer tastes, but my hubby drinks only “Coffee”.. 🙂 Has a hot water/ steam – easy to make a perfect milk for a coffee. 🙂 very easy to use and understand when somethings empty/fullfilled. but not the coffee beans – there is no light for it, you can just hear, when the machine doesn’t have them. 🙂

    Tasty coffee at home!

First thing I need to mention on this is that it is very bulky – its taken up a lot of bench space which isn’t really convenient for me with a small kitchen. It looks good, has that high end style about it and sleek design with the silver and black colour scheme.
Setting it up was simple, plug in- run two water tests and then add your coffee of choice, i opted to store beans in the grinder but mainly use the scoop feature as it is very loud when grinding the beans. There is multiple options to choose from on the touch control including hot water/milk frother (my favourite part) and then espresso, coffee, long and americano but to be honest i’m not sure the difference in these as you can set the volume of your cup and memorize it by holding down the button for 5 seconds then cancelling it when full, the machine will remember this volume for the next turn. There is also settings to control the 3 strengths you can set your coffee too – mild, medium and strong which are represented by sized coffee beans. I do like that you can make two cups of coffee at once and find it easy to work with however the instructions were not that great. The water tank holds roughly 6 reasonably sized cups and is very easy to access to refill, clear plastic so you can see when to top it up though it does flash a red warning symbol too when out of water.

This is a nice machine albeit with fewer options than more expensive models. It’s certainly much easier, more intuitive to use than the Cuisinart Veloce Bean-to-Cup Coffee Machine | Built-In Automatic Milk Frother And Burr Grinder which was pretty complicated, produced really lukewarm milk and coffee, was a real faff to clean because of the milk cycle etc. (The machine failed in tabout 7 months, was replaced and that machine failed within a further 7, each time replaced under guarantee – all credit to customer services. But we gave the 3rd machine away unused as we were sick of the whole thing!)

It does NOT have an integrated milk function, though has an effective frothing wand whch really helps in getting decently warm coffee, reaching temperatures much in excess of the Cuisinart and better frothing. Access to the water tank, used grounds, bean filling bin etc is easy, and the grinding mechanism is east to access and therefore clean. Grind control seems effective too.

The coffee choice with this model is espresso, coffee (what does that mean I wonder!) americano and long, but that suits me.

Should you choose a deLonghi model with integrated milk use, then from what I have seen, the milk cassette and the way it attaches to the machine is infinitely superior to the Cuisinart: it’s connector slots readily into a small niche but can be removed easily after use for refrigeration. My experience with other makers is very negative regarding this, where ‘fully automatic’ really should have ‘but very fiddly, time consuming and faffy’ added to the descriptor.

I really like this machine very much. And I loved too the Dedica from the same manufacturer. The Evo in this format seems to me just the right level of convenience and truly timesaving.

And did I forget? Yes, with the right coffee beans this makes lovely coffee, which is what it’s all about.

    Strongly recommended.

Bought this as an early Christmas present in 2020 thinking that it might be a nice upgrade from pods which seemed pretty eco unfriendly. Best decision of lockdown. No problems to date and in a hard water area, the descale seems to be doing a great job (moved up to the cheaper 500ml bottles of descale fluid and not sure what the fuss is about). The ground coffee compartment works OK and I seldom use it as the bean to cup approach seems to produce a far better cup of coffee. All in all a great purchase which now seems a lot better value than I first though

This De’Longhi Magnifica Evo is perfect for any Coffee lover. Admittedly, I am not one of them, however, my missus is. She normally has coffee which she buys when out or makes it at home but was over joyous to find this beauty ready to test. It came packaged very well and unboxing this showed it in all of it’s beauty. The Manifica Evo can make Coffee via beans grounded directly which is just awesome and as she says, truly the best way to taste coffee. It has the ability to make Espresso, Coffee, Long and an Americano and able to froth milk also!. It features a really nice, simple design and comes with a scoop and descaler as well as the manual to get going. You can set how fine you want to grind the coffee beans via the compartment at the top. The side compartment features a water tank that just slots out very easily and back in place just as much. The whole thing is sturdy and won’t suffer from falling via an accidental knock. My missus is very impressed with this machine and has transformed her mornings as well as saving her having to buy coffee elsewhere. Instructions were easy to follow but I do wish there was an all inclusive video tutorial that simplified this as, especially for me who is not someone who drinks coffee nor knows the first thing about making one. Very impressed overall and does make an excellent cup of coffee with ease whilst being easy to clean. It is pricey to get into but worth it for those who are into their coffees and want something from a top named brand. This thing is a beast on the worktop and does use up a considerable amount of space but looks exceptionally well.

Great product and perfect for any coffee lover, easy to clean and maintai

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLove coming down in the morning for a fresh brew? Then you will fall in love with this beautiful and easy to use machine.
Only used the whole bean so far and can say I’m so impressed. The noise of the beans been ground transports you to a coffee shop and the smell and taste are just heavenly.
Instructions come through in a pretty simple way although I’m very grateful to you for showing the descale routine.
Oh when you order this I suggest you get the de scaler with it. Trust me, you will get hooked on fresh coffee and won’t want to be left without because you haven’t got the de scaler.

    Happy coffee

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersBought this to replace a broken Magnifica S+ that had given good service over the years. Before buying the replacement, I noted that the EVO models were new. The space I had in my kitchen was tight for a bean to cup machine so I consulted with DeLonghi who were pretty useless and told me what I already gleaned from their website.

They were unsure about the features of this model which is pretty poor if it is already on the market. On dimensions they had no clue but the body size looked exactly like the black model ECAM 290.21.B. So, I took the plunge. Turns up today and DeLonghi have the depth and height dimensions mixed up .

    This ECAM 292.33.SB model is 240 wide x 440 deep x 360 tall !!!!

Otherwise it is OK. First cup tasty. Steam wand is not as flexible or as long as I’m used to and delivery seems slightly slower. The touch panel is sensitive and triggered by any material brushing over it. I suspect that will become a PITA? First cup was very tasty, however.

Edit after a month or so of daily use. The touch screen is less of a PITA than I expected but I’m aware a light brush of the hand affects it. The bigger PITA is that the steam only runs for a certain time before timing out. Not good if you are steaming for two cups at once. It seems to carry on working if you re-select the steam button? Maybe trying to protect the pump. Furthermore, as soon as you revert the steam lever to the off position the machine defaults back to hot water so you have to press the button e.g. if you are done frothing and want to blow some steam through to clean out the airways. The steam nozzle inside the wand is a soft rubber these days so some care with washing. The wand does not come off as smoothly as my last machine either.

Have changed beans to non-premium and the coffee isn’t as tasty but still very decent – that is not the fault of Delonghi! Maintaining my 4*.

A great coffee machine at this price our only problem was the Java beans we enjoy where far to oily for the machine so required pushing towards the grinder a bit difficult due to the grill/guard in place for safety reasons so all in all good product but use medium roast dryer beans

So it took me ages to buy a new coffee machine. Mainly because the reviews always include comments like the coffee was too weak or too cold. Anyway, I read the instructions – more accurately my wife read that out to me as I didn’t have my reading glasses, but that’s kind of irrelevant. It took about 15 mins to go through the start-up process until we got the part to make coffee.

The first coffee was too small,
The second coffee was too weak,
The third coffee was just right….

So it comes down to experimenting. After about 5 goes with the strength and amount controls we got a strong americano coffee for my wife which she was very pleased with. It was hot enough, strong enough and by hitting the two cups option, had enough coffee to fill a large sized coffee mug.

We moved onto the milk steamer. It took a few goes to get the milk like I wanted it (I usually order a wet latte in a coffee shop). Fiddled with the coffee controls a little more and now I get a brilliant latte. I’m using a well known coffee store bean and I can’t really tell the difference between the coffee shop and the machine.

This is good! Will it stay good? I hope so, this was a bit of an investment for me so I’m hoping the machine will work for a good long while.

We haven’t changed the temperature settings, nor the grinding wheel and have left these to their defaults so far. So yes, good machine….

My 25 year old Gagia Tebe coffee machine finally gave up and a friend had this machine and recommended it to me and I’m very grateful as it’s an excellent bean to cup coffee machine. I’m now drinking more black coffee as I find the flavour even though the beans are the same better from this machine. I notice Amazon keep altering the price from about 280 to 350, so I would wait till the price comes down. Excellent bean to cup coffee machine, if I needed another machine I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another.

    Only had this machine 48Hrs!

Cons: manual is absolute rubbish. Bin it. Go on Youtube, and there’s a couple of instructional videos there – well worth a visit! PLEASE ensure you look at these before starting the machine up; this will ensure a quick start and quality coffee. The milk frother is a little slow, however it produces a *great* foam.

    But…

I’m no coffee expert, but this produces nothing like I’ve had before – I’ve gone through many machines over the years.

To get going, you will need to fine tune it – which is easy. Fill her up, put the beans in and time a delivery of 2 x espressos. 20 – 25 seconds is the optimum. Adjust the grinder settings but please do this when the machine is running!

I’ve done some ‘coffee’, espressos, Latte, Cappuccino.. all with great results without adjusting anything. I have not used the dispenser for ground coffee yet, so can’t comment on that.

Easy to clean, the drip and grounds trays are easily removable and easy to rinse out.

Cannot comment on its longevity, as I’m 48 hrs in; I took out extended insurance as well, just in case.

    5 stars. Simples. Buy one.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe had been using the Magnifica ESAM 4200.S for about 4 years, but it developed a fault. Had to decide between returning for repair or buying a new one, and opted to replace it with this model. So glad we did as, happy as we were with the old one, this one is smaller, less noisy and makes better coffee. We used pretty much the exact same settings as before but find the coffee richer, and stronger. Also you can get a greater volume in the cup – you set it to however full you want it whereas the old one had a max volume which was only about two thirds of a cup (we use it for Americano). So yes – very happy with it.

It’s easy to use, especially if you had another DeLonghi expresso machine before. If not, you will need the manual to do the settings. The coffee is good and strong but I’m using lavazza coffee beans. I don’t know if it’s the same with regular coffee beans or ground coffee.
It is a bit noisy. Easy enough to clean. Even easier to scratch the surfaces when cleaning the tray and refill the water tank. All in one, good coffee machine but far from perfect.

This was bought to replace a machine which was more than double the price. The broken machine was the full barista experience (code for a real hassle!) This is bean to cup. I didn’t have high expectations because it isn’t very expensive but I cannot believe I didn’t get this sooner.
I’ve been using this for 6 months now and the last coffee I made just now is as good as the very first. This is important because even low range models can produce good coffee for a week but then it’s all downhill from then.
It’s easy to use. Easy to clean. Makes perfect coffee every time.
I’ve tried many bean, some very expensive but I’m using Aldi espresso beans (approx 1.50 250g) and they are perfect. Much better than some of the premium brands.
    Couldn’t be happier.

I’ve previously used a burr grinder and french press and before that had a espresso maker. I don’t consider myself a coffee expert but not am I inexperienced when it comes to coffee. I love this machine. It took a few goes (and a YouTube video) to get the exact right settings to produce the perfect espresso which is the foundation for any coffee. That’s now it. Perfect coffee every time. Espresso, americano and with the steam wand it’s also easy to create cappuccino or latte.
The machine does have a large footprint but not when compared to other bean to cup machines and my only real gripe is that the steam wand doesn’t leave much room for a milk jug making it quite restrictive. I managed to pick this up at 225 on offer with a free delonghi coffee hamper worth 25. An absolute steal!!

So glad I bought this. Perfect coffee

I love this coffee machine so easy to use once you have sussed it out how to make coffee and it’s not that hard. You would be totally shocked as to how easy it is to use. It’s far better that I have had before plus it not my first DELONGHI machine. Although I didn’t take the extra warranty out. Now as soon as it arrived I did take a warranty out but I took it out with Domestic & General who all my electrical appliances are and have always been covers by. That’s the only reason I didn’t take the one that’s actually for sale with the machine. I would advise if you bought this machine and you would be mad to buy a different one if this is around the figure you want to pay I definitely definitely do recommend. Also as o was saying any appliances I would advise a warranty. I just wanted to keep all my warranty’s together with the same company

This was a replacement for our old Perfecta machine which we had had for a long time We were a bit dubious about whether the new machine’s compact size would impact on the efficiency of the machine and quality of the coffee, but so far we are very pleased with the coffee it produces. One downside is that the setting for bean strength is a manual dial, it doesn’t have numbered settings so it takes a while to find your preferred setting. It is quieter than our old machine and the more compact size means it looks less obtrusive on the worktop. Flavour obviously depends on the beans used and the type of coffee you like.

I have not had a coffee machine before and researched thoroughly before settling on this one in another retailer. Saw it on Amazon lightening deals at a much reduced price – no deal.
Extremely pleased with our choice and use it everyday. Can swop between regular and decaff beans easily .
Easy to clean and descale. Was a bit concerned as read that some people had the descale light continuing to flash even after they had descaled but we have not had that problem – so far.
    All in all very satisfied.
My only complaint is the delivery – the item apparently was “Damaged” so not delivered on the date expected, I had to contact Amazon to ask what had happened. The assistant was very helpful and a replacement was delivered within 2 days.

This is a really good machine with a number of good features that others have already listed in their reviews (granularity of the grind, cup size, coffee strength per cup, water temperature etc.) I’ve always used an espresso machine with pre-ground coffee (which, incidentally, you can still use in this machine) and have never previously used a bean-to-cup. The quality of the finished product is seriously improved! The crema it produces is excellent and I genuinely think it tastes better than top coffee shop coffee once you get your own combination of settings just right. It’s also a time saver if you’re used to filling, tamping then cleaning a manual espresso maker. For anyone interested in what type of machine to expect with an Amazon Warehouse Deal – you can probably ignore all the ‘large scratch front, small scratch side’ etc. I’ve had two and neither had any scratches at all despite the description. One had instructions and one didn’t. However, my first one leaked water everywhere each time I made a coffee but Amazon were brilliant and refunded me immediately so I just ordered another one (Warehouse again) and it’s perfect!
