THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE HIT IN OUR HOUSE!!!
My kids are 5, 7 and nearly 9.
We have played this absolutely loads since Christmas. They ask to play it lots.
My 5 year old isn’t great at describing so he does the guessing. He’s fab at that though so he’s happy.
We do find a couple of bits are way beyond their ages though, so we do have the rule that you can describe whichever thing on card you want. They don’t know all the cities in the uk for example “bicton village” is a bit hard for a 6 year old to describe when she’s never heard of it.
Some of the people again, they have never heard of.
I think some cards are better suited to the adult version, it would be good to have another set for younger children but on the whole the kids love playing it.

I have been playing this game for over 10 years now but had never owned one. This Christmas I decided to buy one for a games night I was hosting. As the only person that had played this game, it took some time to explain the runs to my party goers! I also made the mistake of starting this quite far into the night once most people had been drinking. Although I throughly enjoyed it, I found the rest of the party had less patience and we didn’t end up finishing the game. Perhaps paid better without alcohol!

This is really good fun. My daughter really enjoyed it. We played lots over Christmas and I’m glad I bought it. The only slight snag is you start to remember what’s on the cards once you’ve played it a few times, which makes it easier to guess, but that’s inevitable with any board game I suppose. Definitely worth a purchase.

Such a great game considering I don’t normally participate in board games. It is a good”describing” game . Only advice is don’t play it late in the evening as your brain will be buzzing with adrenlin for ages.

We love this game as a family – older and younger people can play. If you’re playing with people that find it trickier we adapt the rules to have unlimited skips etc to get everyone involved

Good concept and game play but some of the words aren’t relevant to kids. My 10yr old grandson had never heard of Tinky Winky and there were a few more outdated references like that. Overall, however, good, but pricey.

We have played this a few times, and people to our home have asked to borrow it which says all you need it to.

We have also played it with just 2 or 3 players where we can’t make teams so we all act as each others team to move our counter round the board. It has been just as fun to play it this way as it has been in a team. Nobody tried to sabotage anyones game as it was just too much fun to try to work out what they were trying to get us to guess!

Definitey recommend – old, young, small groups, large groups. Anyone!

The original Articulate is challenging for kids as they don’t know most of the people but with this box you can play the game and get everyone involved on equal terms. We successfully used the kids pack alongside the adults pack on the adults board and everyone was happy and involved. Articulate is also
a very simple game to pick up which is KEY at Christmas!!

Don’t normally do a ‘big’ family Christmas, my role in the planning was after dinner games. Did not have a clue as to what was popular or fun. Just went with the reviews on Amazon. This was the game of choice from everyone even though there were other games to choose.. It was hilarious watching people explain words who thought that shouting or whacking loved ones on the arm would help them guess correctly. Thoroughly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHonestly. I dont know what’s best. To see a 6, 9 and 12 year old trying to figure out how to explain something under the stress of lack of time or a 40 year old trying to explain a 36 year old with the pressure and spitting whilst enuntiating words. I’ve not laughed this hard for years.
We are a family of 5 so we make 2 teams of 3 and 2, where the youngest ones are the guessers most times although the 9 year old had a go.
Guess what. The kids actually won as we adults couldn’t do with the stress of getting it right in 30 seconds. Hilarious.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersBrilliant, fun and also frustrating if your team mate can’t get the answer! This is now one of our favourite family board games. We skipped over the kids’ version, I think 12+ is a bit high, many younger children will be fine with this main version, yes they won’t know all the words/people, but they’ll know enough to get through it and learn as they go. You can always just skip the card and pickup the next anyway.
I wish Drummond sold separate cards packs as it’d be nice to add some new ones or themed sets, without buying an entire new game.

Fun Game, really good for the family. Instructions was too clear how to play with the spinner, so we played without. We did find online Instructions via YouTube. But didn’t spoil the overall enjoyment of playing the game.

Drumond Park Articulate is an absolute gem of a family board game that has stood the test of time in my home, bringing joy and entertainment for years. As a host who frequently has friends over, I can confidently say that Articulate has been the life of countless gatherings, creating cherished memories filled with endless laughter and bonding moments.

The concept of the game is brilliantly simple yet exhilarating. Players must describe as many card entries as possible within a thrilling 30-second window, all without resorting to using “rhymes with” or “sounds like” clues. This fast-talking description game never fails to bring everyone together and ignite a competitive yet lighthearted spirit among the players. It’s incredible to witness the sheer creativity and wit that emerges from each participant as they strive to convey their clues within the time limit.

One of the absolute highlights of Articulate is the “Try Not to Panic” round, which introduces an extra layer of excitement and hilarity to the game. During this round, players must describe a word without actually uttering it. Sounds easy, right? Think again! As the timer races, and the other team heckles you mercilessly, panic is inevitable, leading to moments of side-splitting confusion and laughter. This brilliantly designed round keeps the game engaging and entertaining throughout, ensuring that every session is filled with unpredictable fun.

As a family board game, Articulate is a true blessing, especially for those with smartphone-addicted teenagers. It serves as a powerful tool to bring the whole family together for some good old-fashioned quality time, reminiscent of the days before screens dominated our lives. Whether it’s a relaxed weekend family game night or a lively holiday gathering, Articulate never fails to foster a strong sense of connection and camaraderie among all generations. It transcends age barriers, allowing everyone to actively participate and create unforgettable memories together.

Furthermore, Articulate seamlessly transforms into an adult party game, showcasing its versatility and appeal to various audiences. This game draws the shy out of their shells and humbles the overly confident, making it the ultimate icebreaker that effortlessly unites a roomful of people in fits of hysterical laughter. The way it creates an atmosphere of pure joy and merriment is truly unmatched, making it an essential addition to any party or social gathering.

With its flexible player count, accommodating 4 to 20+ participants aged 12 and above, Articulate is the epitome of inclusivity and adaptability. Whether it’s an intimate gathering with a few close friends or a large-scale party with a diverse group, this game effortlessly caters to ensure that the more, the merrier. Its ability to entertain a wide range of players makes it an absolute crowd-pleaser, perfect for any occasion.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly give Drumond Park Articulate Family Board Game a well-deserved 5-star rating, and my praise for this remarkable game knows no bounds. Fun for all the family, fun with all your mates,
fun with old acquaintances and even fun on dates,
This is the board game killer; this is the game of choice,
It’s a non-stop thriller, and it only needs your voice.

    Drummond Park were pretty smart,
When all they did was grab a box and lid,
And five hundred cards with six categories on each,
That you transmit to your teammate with the power of speech,

How many can you get within 30 seconds?
You have to think quick as the sand timer beckons
You give them prompts, you give them clues
They may do well or they may get confused,

You can play it sober, you can play it drunk,
All your other board games will soon become junk,
It’s just so simple, it’s just so fun,
But please establish the rule’s once the timer is done,

Do they finish the clue? do I not get to have a guess?
Even if I knew? it’s a real source of stress.
It’s so obscenely simple, you kind of don’t need the board,
And you don’t need the cards if you can’t afford,

Just get some paper and get some pens,
And write down some stuff with a bunch of friends,
Put it in a hat and just read it out,
Try it for free, if you were ever in doubt.

By far my favourite game to play. It definitely gets everyone pretty competitive and has a variety of different things to explain. I’d definitely say it’s more recommended for teenagers – adults because some of the cards have famous people/ places where I don’t even know

Family found this while we were on holiday and loved it, knew we had to buy it for ourselves.

Great game by itself but even more entertaining as a drinking game

Its not as easy to set up & play as articulate in my opinion, however its kind of a more advance version. We had fun but it never lived up to the others.

Great family board game. My 8 year old daughter loves it. When purchased I wasn’t certain whether to buy the more expensive normal version. Glad I brought the kids version, as it’s suitable for my daughter, who was able to describe most of the subjects, but a few she struggled with, which is a good point from a learning perspective. My wife and I like this game, its even fun for just adults in my opinion. At 12.99, I think it’s good value for money compared to other board games. My only criticism is the size of the box, it’s quite big considering the contents, they could package it in a smaller size. That’s a minor point. So still 5 stars from me. It was delivered in perfect condition, and it was delivered and forfilled by Amazon.

It’s Christmas day. You have had a lovely family lunch. Grandad has drunk far too many Sherries. Your nephew and niece are running around the house on a sugar-rush, and your uncle is about to tell the same jokes he tells at every family get-together. Save the afternoon by whipping out Articulate and have a really good laugh with your folks. Apart from just being a good family game, what makes Articulate so much fun, are the various holiday-themed expansion packs that Drumond Park bring out for the base game. It is a holiday life-saver. The only downside is the price. 33 is a crazy price tag for a board game, even one as good as Articulate. Wait for Amazon to Black Friday, or Prime Day the game, and get it for 16-20.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI never realised just how hard it can be to describe a phrase without using any of the words in it. Some are much easier than others though – especially if you have local colloquialisms for a particular phrase that use none of the words in the phrase.

We have been playing the original Articulate for a couple of years now and it never gets old – it does always become incredibly silly though. When we saw the Articulate Phrases version it was a no brainer to get it. However, because we have a rather large board game collection we bought it with the intention of playing over Christmas and it stayed nicely wrapped until last weekend (only 4 months later than we intended!)

Although we had a lot of fun playing somehow it wasn’t as joyful an experience as the original. I’m not sure why, maybe it was a mistake to it so late in the day when we were getting tired and suffering from the effects of Hanger.

We play just with three people (myself, my husband and our adult son) so the rules always need tweaking for games like this that are more geared towards team play. It is easy to adjust though and we just used our tried and tested method for this style of game – the questioner rotates like the players do and then it is best of two so if someone is useless at describing both of the other players get to suffer. I didn’t describe that very well I know but it works for us.

It is a lot of fun and you certainly need to think, just not quite as fun as the original game.
