Dry:Soon Deluxe 3-Tier Heated Clothes Aire

Sometimes the weather just won’t play ball on laundry day and lots of modern households don’t have the space for an outdoor clothes dryer or washing line. But with one of our Dry:Soon Deluxe Heated Airers on standby, if you do have to dry your laundry indoors it no longer needs to take all day nor take over your house.

Like our 3-Tier standard model, this 3-Tier Deluxe Heated Airer offers 21m of drying space, holding 15kg of laundry, on a light aluminium frame and will get all your laundry dry much more quickly than an unheated airer. It also costs less than 6p an hour to run, and has a handy timer feature so you can run it for exactly as long as you want and gently-heated bars that won’t harm your delicates. You don’t have to run your tumble dryer and risk putting your favourite clothes through the mill to get them dry. And putting your electric clothes airer away is easy, too, as it folds down to just 8cm wide for storage.

We could say all this for our standard airers, but we brought in a few additional features for the Deluxe range, in response to customer feedback on the original models. These include a control panel at eye level, rather than ground level, for easier use, as well as a set of detachable castors (sold separately) if you want to move your airer around for loading or unloading or just to get it out of the way in a hurry. For storing your airer, we added clips to hold the folded airer together and a neat clip-on container for the plug to stow away into.

Accessories available separately include: 3-Tier Deluxe Heated Airer Cover to keep the heat in and speed up drying, which also doubles as a storage bag for the folded airer; and the Deluxe Mesh Shelf Duo, a pair of mesh shelves for laying delicate and smaller items flat rather than hanging them over the bars.

About Dry:Soon Heated Airers

When we introduced our first heated airer in 2008 we knew it was a winner but we weren’t prepared for just how quickly it would race to the top of the best sellers list or how long it would stay there. Since then we’ve not only developed our Standard range but also introduced a Deluxe range, too, and a selection of handy accessories, in response to customer suggestions, to make them the best airers ever.

Economical

Our airers cost just pennies to run*. They’re also much kinder to clothes than tumble drying and neater and more efficient than laying laundry over your radiators.

Versatile

Not only do we offer a choice of designs and sizes, each version also benefits from folding shelves that can be positioned to suit your needs: you can dry T-shirts, socks or larger items over the rungs; lay delicate clothes flat to avoid stretching, or hang sheets and big towels over the top without them touching the floor.

Convenient

Made from light yet robust aluminium, Dry:Soon airers are easy to move around and fold down to 9cm or less deep for storage, ready to be pressed into action throughout the winter months, or whenever the weather isn’t cooperating.

Fully open 70 x 74 x 132.5cm H. Folds to 8cm deep. Flex length 135cm. 300W

*Exact cost per hour dependent on domestic electricity prices at time of use.

Really speeds up drying times. Folds away nicely. Excelent for small flats when space is a premium and outdoor dryi g isn’t possible.

It drys things super quickly and is easy to use. Only criticism is that it is just wider than an average door so you can’t move it about the house easily whilst it has washing on it.

Have been thinking about buying this for a while but with autumn coming in, I’m so glad I did. My flat takes ages to dry clothes in the autumn/winter months but I leave this on overnight and the majority, if not all, my clothes are dry by the next day. Excellent for towels. Is quite large when completely unfolded but does fold up quite nicely and can be popped behind a door. Would absolutely recommend.

I have had this a few years now and it is still just as good as the day I bought it. Doesn’t cost much to run, easily holds a couple loads of washing and can be folded down easily.

I’ve had this for around 4 months now. I LOVE it! I would say that it’s a fairly basic structure however I live in a 1 bedroom flat that doesn’t have a lot of space for drying clothes and this has become a god send! I bought the cover at a later date and would highly recommend it. I tried the sheet trick that a lot of reviews recommended but it didn’t seem to work for me. I have only used it once as we recently just got it. I love that it can take more than one load of washing but it did take a really long time to dry. We left it on all night and as st 11a.m the next day we still had some clothes that weren’t dried. Maybe a nice feature to have would be ability to increase the temperature.

Simple enough to set up and collapse, but this is at the expense of sturdiness: one would need to exercise care if children were to be about for example. Its drying capability is spot on though.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAmazing alternative if you have no airing cupboard. I use it to air clothes after ironing. So just once a week! Can be folded away easily. I’d recommend the proper cover. Nice snug fit with zips. Very well made. Really retains the heat. So you can switch airer off sooner. Avoid casters they just stay in one direction and scratched my laminate.

I bought one many years ago, recently bought the cover. Moving to a new house very soon, tiny garden no room for washing line. I have always been happy with the drysoon but I started dithering about getting a tumble dryer. This drysoon is slim to store but house storage is lacking. Drysoon is big when open and I could also put it outside, fully open, on a dry sunny day for free drying outside my patio door. Made my mind up, no tumble dryer until this 8 year old drysoon dies on me. It was worth the cost btw

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThe first one that arrived from Amazon was very 2nd hand (smashed up) and a pain in the backside to return. It’s replacement has been in use for several months now over the winter. We use this for baby clothes and items we don’t want to tumble, the drying rack is easy to set up and use, generally we fill it of an evening, run for a few hours and leave overnight, mostly clothes are dry the next morning. It’s a bit flimsy and I wouldn’t want to fold up and down frequently but so far it’s ok.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersThe item is lovely, although I don’t think it’s worth the money. It takes a lot longer to dry clothes – around 6-7 hours so not sure how much cheaper it will be than the tumble dryer which I believe costs around 40pph.
However it does dry those items that can’t go in the tumble dryer.
    The cover makes a difference.

Amazon packaging was awful….. in fact no packaging just the box as you buy in the shop. First item had to be returned as the box had a massive hole in it and one of the heated bars was bent. Second delivery also had a massive hole and battered box but the item seems fine. Amazon should do better!

It is a little pricey but it fits on lots of clothes and the design means that you can set it up to dry hanging stuff and/or stuff lying flat across the bars. A brilliant product for those without a tumble dryer. Only gave 4 stars because some – not that thick or heavy – items still not totally dry after 8 hours. As jeans on top shelf were dry but blouse on bottom still wet around cuffs assume clothes on top shelf dry quicker. This was with a cover and in a warm room. Sturdy design and well made and worth the expense. Unless in a small space would be silly not to have cover.

  61. MeganBurbank says:

This is a great idea and we use it all the time. It’s especially effective with the optional cover – easily halves the time it takes to dry a washload.

  62. CharlotMatteson says:

This is worth every penny! I live in a small flat and in winter it would take 2-3 days to dry a load even with the heating on. Now I can have dry washing in about 4 hours, towels in 6. The reason for losing one star is because, if you loaded clothes over each rail individually and loaded it up with 3 loads, it would not dry this quick! I lay the clothes flat on each shelf and then turn after about 2 hours, thus I actually do small loads as I’d prefer a quicker drying time than having it out and on for a longer time. It would be perfect if they made this with more shelves! I always use the cover as well, and lay the thinnest things at the bottom as this seems to have less heat than the upper 2. Other than the fact I cant really do a huge amount of washing at a time I really cant fault it, it’s been a life saver this winter!

For the first time in ages I’m near the booth of the washing basket. No tumble dryer and poor radiator space meant washing took FOREVER to dry. This thing has literally made my life better. It doesn’t get dangerously hot, no marks on the clothes and is much more compact than I thought it would be. You have to be sensible. If you fill it with thick jeans and jumpers they are going to take longer to dry than t shirts and pants but still much quicker than just a conventional airer by a radiator. The clothes smell better too. I am so pleased we got this.

I like it. Timings may take a bit of getting used to. It requires quite a lot of space, but it better than having your washing all around the house. I’ve got mine near a radiator with 2 cheap airers wrapped around it. A towel or sheet over the top speeds up drying time.

  90. Carrie Marshall says:

     United Kingdom

Golden Review Award: 179 From Our UsersI’m so pleased with this purchase! Can’t believe how quickly and nicely my clothes dry now, it’s really helpful for those who live in a flat and struggle to dry clothes in the winter months. My flat is in a very old, draught-prone building and so to dry clothes we had been rotating them on radiators (not good for the room or clothes) or on chairs and it would take 2-3 days to dry anything in winter. Now, I can put a wash on the night before and have dry clothes for work the next morning — bliss!

My living room used to spend half the working week looking like I’d constructed a blanket fort every time I washed my sheets. When people came round, I’d have to remember to move my pants from the dining chairs so they could sit down. Not any more!! Now I feel like I am really adulting.

    Best points
    * Easy to assemble — the shelves fold out very intuitively and it takes seconds to put together each time.
    * Ready to use — from taking out of the box to hanging out clothes — minutes! Great for me, I hate assembling products.
    * Lightweight — you can move it from room to room easily.
    * Safe — the bars are heated, but they never get ‘too hot’ so that it would cause an accident. We don’t have kids or pets, but I might pop it in a separate room if we did just in case. Having said that, I’ve grabbed the bars a couple of times by mistake to move it, and it’s definitely not hot enough to injure anyone. I expect if you had a pet they would just want to curl up underneath to sleep!
    * Sturdy enough — as someone else said, if your kid (or husband!) runs into it it’s likely to fall over, but otherwise it’s sturdy enough for the job!
    * Lots of shelf space — can fit one large load of washing, and that’s considering that larger, heavier pieces need to be laid over more bars. Sheets are a bit trickier, but a bit of rotation in the middle of drying time sorts that out.
    * Quick dry time — I’ve been putting the timer (see below) on for 8 hours at about 6pm, then clothes are dry by the morning. I should mention that I didn’t buy the official (rather expensive) cover, like other reviewers I just place a large dry bed sheet over the top of the whole thing and this speeds up the drying time like nobody’s business!
    * Big, but neat — So yes this thing is pretty large (138 x 79.5 x 9.5cm), but it’s actually a lot neater than using a couple of old-fashioned clothes airers pushed up against a radiator, with a few chairs spread around the room for good luck. It’s great to have all clothes drying in one, neat wardrobe-shaped item. You can even cover it up with an Indian-style throw and pretend it’s part of the decor (!).
    * Bright ‘on’ light — when it’s on, it’s obvious!

    Things to think about
    * Price — yes, it’s quite expensive and we resisted buying one of these on that basis. For us, the convenience offered and frustration at drying clothes indoors eventually outweighed the cost and now I actually have one, I wouldn’t go back at all. Save up if you need to and invest in one, that’s my advice! Once you have it, it’s cheap to run and you’ll save money heating your rooms, too.
    * Timer — the built-in timer isn’t great, so I bought a basic timer with options for 15 min, 30 min, up to 4 or 8 hours. This is more useful for clothes drying and I would recommend it as a fairly cheap partner product (about 8) ANSMANN AES-1 Zero Watt Energy Saving Timer Plug
    * Short cable — there’s not much scope for putting this further away from a plug socket without an extension cable, the cable length is I’d estimate 1.2m.

Overall — I love this product, would highly recommend. Put away 20 a month over the summer and you’ll have enough to buy it next winter! Adulting score — 10/10

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI can’t recommend this heated airer enough. I agree with the other reviews I have seen, it is worth purchasing the cover that you can buy for it. I managed to find the deluxe airer & the cover so they came together. I have just had a baby & we have extra washing. With UK weather being unpredictable when I can’t peg my washing out this has had them dry in no time. It is light weight & easy to use.

It is pricey but definitely worth it. You can use half of the airer at a time or if you have more washing it opens out fully fitting quite a lot of washing. The bars do get quite warm heating up the room it is in at the same time.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI would have given a 6 out of 5 rating if possible !! Life would have miserable without this. We stay in a flat and our washing machine has got no dryer. Clothes come out real wet after washing. After much research we had spent a fortune to buy this airer (we have bought it from Lakeland site directly) in mid December last year and since then there is no looking back. Having two infants, our washing machine is super busy. It generally takes a bit longer (around 20 hours), but does it’s job perfectly. I simply can’t imagine life without it.

    Pros:
-> Energy saving. We have calculated that electric consumption is around 6.5p/hour.
    -> Timer functionality
-> Extremely lightweight, so can be moved around very easily
-> Compact, folds flat; so very less storage space
-> Space saver – the tiers (on both sides – 6 in total) can be individually folded depending on the requirement.
-> When on, acts as a heat source in the room
-> The red light on the switch indicates whether the machine is on
-> Heats up and Cools down very quickly

    Cons:
-> The items which are in direct contact with the heated bars dry pretty quickly, but the bits which are not remains damp. They are needed to be placed onto the rack for a few more hours, in order to get them dried properly.
-> The cable is very short
-> The timer provided is very basic, only can go upto 12 Hours maximum with minute and hour simultaneous calibration
-> Price is definitely a con

Overall an excellent product and highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersFantastic product. Great for drying in the winter and so economical too. Also a nice side affect is that it heats the room when it’s cold and wet outside, so it serves two purposes.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersSolid and dependable. Automatic timer feature = set it and forget it. No more wobbly cheap driers falling over. Clothes actually dry without going crispy! Compact but huge surface area. Will take a full load of kids’ washing! Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 66 From Our UsersOverview: Living in a flat with no garden we struggled to dry our washing, and did not want to pay the expense of the tumble dryer which makes clothing come out all stiff. After much research we chose to part with our pennies and to purchase the 3 tiered version of the Lakeland Drysoon – what a great purchase it was!!! We have been using this for over a year now and it is still going strong. The details of the product are outlined below along with tips on how to use it!

    > Very lightweight so can easily be folded away and moved around the property.
    > Compact for storage as it folds flat.
    > Acts as a heat source for heating the room too
    > Handy red light shown when on, and can also be turned on and off from the frame rather than unplugging it from the mains
    > Adjustable shelves so can have all or only half of them opened out at a time (space saving)
    > Instead of buying the cover, we simply turn it on at night filled with two full washes of clothing and then place a sheet over the top
    > Can easily hold two washes of clothing. I put two peg driers (holding underwear and socks), one on each end and then place the sheet on top so its all inside the heated source.
    > When entering the room in the morning it pleasantly smells freshened by the smell of fresh clean linen! Mmm ours is lavender.
    > We have found that the sections of the items which are in direct contact with the heated bars dry very quickly, whereas the bits hanging down do not dry quite so quick. We eliminate this issue by when getting up in the morning we lightly fold the clothing and place it back onto the rack on the bars as though it is an airing cupboard with the sheet on top again. After a few hours the items are ready to be used.

I would highly recommend this product to anyone. If you are thinking about buying this but the price is putting you off then just buy it! It really has made such a difference to us. We no longer have clothes lingering around the whole flat for days on end, or the high bills from the tumble drier or the horrible feel of clothing coming out of the tumble drier. The plus is that it also heats the room so less need for putting the heating on all year round this is a great item and a must have!
