Not only is it super stylish, but incredibly sturdy and not noisy. Hinged lid opens and closes easily. Base sits securely on my worktop and doesn’t slide around when placing the kettle on it. Easy to view water indicator on side of kettle. Brilliant design!
Price seems high although it is a nice Kettle I like the fact that the lid is easy to open very wide to get your hand in. Only time will tell how well the Kettle lasts but at the moment it boils quickly and is not too noisy. It has a metal style filter which keeps most of the scale at bay (we live in a very hard water area). THis will get a lot of use as three people are at home using it all day.
Dualit kettle matches several other items in my kitchen, this is a good well made kettle and is noticeably quieter than my previous ones. Nice an balanced in the hand when pouring, clear level index on the side and the on light is visible. Amazingly simple but works !
STURDY KETTLE, SOMETIMES HAVE TROUBLE PUTTING THE LID DOWN AFTER THE KETTLE HAS BOILED FOR RE-FILLING I SUPPOSE DUE TO IT BEING HOT. FEELS HEAVY, SO YOU THINK YOU HAVE MORE WATER IN IT THAN IT HAS. HARD TO SEE WATER GAUGE AS SO DARK WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A LIGHT. EASY TO LIFT FROM BASE, MY OLD KETTLE WHEN LIFTED WOULD STILL HAVE THE BASE ATTACHED VERY ANNOYING.
I say so far because i loved my previous 2 kettles (morphy richards prism) and neither of them lasted 2yrs. Im really hoping this one does me a good 15 or 20 yrs, like my first morphy richards did. What is going on with kettles these days that they arent built to last?
Anyway, despite the price i love everything about this kettle. It is so good looking, it boils fast and perfectly. I love that you can see the water boiling inside the kettle!
I love the lid is so easy to flip back and open. This might be the first kettle that i dont fill via the spout. In fact, so far, i love everything about this kettle. Oh, and it looks compact but has the fill volume of any other kettle. It says 6 cups but i have le creuset mugs and id say 5 of those.
I will edit the review once this kettle reaches the end of its life. Assume it is still going well until then.
This kettle is very sturdily built, boils fast. The inside is stainless steel with concealed element. The lid opens up all the way so it can be cleaned easily. Before this, I had a much more expensive imported Japanese one, which was great but lid broke, then a cheaper all glass made in China one. This kettle seems to be as well-built as the former, but has the benefit of a limescale filter. The all glass one lasted only 2 months. Knock one start off because it is very loud, much much louder than both my previous kettles.
I bought this around 2 months ago to replace some cheap piece of plastic kettle that died after a couple of months of use. The Domus is an excellent kettle. It boils impressively quickly. The body of the kettle appears to be made of metal and should therefore be more durable than a plastic body kettle, though the body does obviously get very hot when boiled.
The kettle element is also beneath the plate at the base of the body so there will never be any limescale build-up on the element. The kettle does seem to generate a fair amout of limescale though that’s largely due to the armour-plate-hard water that I have. As the element isn’t exposed limescale buildup is very easy to remove.
The lid of the kettle is very easy to open and can comfortably be opened even just after the kettle has boiled. The spout design is also excellent and I’ve never had it dribble or leak water. Pouring is reliable and easily controllable.
The Domus is far from the cheapest kettle but seems to be robust, reliable and very efficient. Highly recommended.
This is an incredible, sturdy and reliable kettle! I love how fast it is. Great item which I hope will last many years.
This is an excellent kettle, the best we have ever purchased. Would recommend this completely.
This kettle is considerably smaller than my previous 1.5 kettle and takes up much less space on the counter, which is a bonus in my small kitchen. The water level indicator is very clear and easy to read. Best of all, the mechanism for opening the top is brilliant. No sticky (caused by limescale build up) button to press here, this has a good solid action and feels more like releasing a spring and is so easy to use. I think this kettle is well worth the extra money. I am very happy and impressed with the high quality.
I had my last Dualit kettle for a few years and the only reason I’m replacing it is because the sight glass is cracked, it’s not leaking……yet so I decided to get another kettle.
It’s not cheap by any means but Dualit are a reputable company and this kettle is stylish and compact so suits my needs!
Love this kettle. It is a Matt dark grey powder coated stainless steel, not shiny. Handle, base and lid are plastic. The lid has a metal rim. It has rubber feet on the plastic charging base. The Metal mesh limescale filter should last as long as the sturdy looking kettle. Have only just started using it after boiling and discarding x3….so have yet to find out it’s longevity
This is an excellent kettle: looks high class, boils quickly (but a bit noisily), easy to read water level, pours and fills easily. No long term view on this, but thus far it is the best kettle we have owned. On the other hand it is also the most expensive. As always, you get what you pay for. If you want the best, then this is it.
Great kettle smaller than our last Bosch but does the job
Really well made and looks stunning in my kitchen. Would recommend
So far so good… Replacement for an old Bosch kettle that was leaking and failing to switch off when boiling…
This Dualit kettle is smaller but with the same capacity as the Bosch and already is notibly quieter too…
My only disappointment is that the colour in the pictures looks like a rough effect finish but is in actual fact a gloss grey…
But this doesn’t takeaway from this being a great choice…
Next it’ll be the matching toaster no doubt.
Great kettle, fast boiling, looks nice and arrived on time.
Don’t like the lid it suggests that it pops
Up but doesn’t.
Thoughts about this kettle…
Well made..
Good quality..
Quiet…
Easy to operate..
BPA free materials used…
No discoloration of base heating element yet which I’ve noticed with every other electric kettle I’ve ever owned.
At 1.5 ltre … Great for small family of say 2-4 people…go for a larger capacity Dualit if more cups per boil needed.
Is it worth the money…?..Yes I believe so.
Very pleased with this kettle. The lid opens easily for filling (my last kettle didn’t). It boils rapidly with the 3KW element, and the water pours quickly and cleanly from a wide spout. It is easy to see how much water is inside through the window, so you boil just the amount you need. Handle is easy to grip and the product is well balanced. The on off switch is quite large, so easy to locate, and clicks on and off with a positive action. Overall, there is nothing to not like about it. Perhaps a bit pricey, but it is a Dualit !
It’s also a lot smaller than my previous 1.5l kettle and takes up much less space on the counter. No hint of any tainting of the water even on first boil. The fill level is clear and easy to read and the mechanism for opening the top is brilliant. Unlike some kettles with a button on the handle which often gets sticky once the limescale builds up, this has a good solid feel and is easy to use even on a refil straight after a boil. No burned fingers. Very happy and impressed with the quality.
Absolutely delighted with this kettle love the design would recommend
This is probably the best quality kettle we have had and over the years we have had many! Very pleased with it. It nearly made 5* and the only reason it didn’t, was because I have found it hard to see the water level in the kettle. I have to lift the lid to see how much is in there. Yes there is a glass panel, but it is dark inside the kettle so the level can’t be readily seen. Not the biggest of issues and I would recommend this kettle.
Absolutely love this Modern take on a Retro model.
Looks great & definitely worth the money folks.
Don’t hesitate if your thinking of buying this, you won’t regret it.
There’s a very satisfying heft to what is clearly a very well made, and thought-out, kettle.
It features a large graduated viewing window, wide base with a 3kw hidden element that rapidly heats the water and easy fill access.
It’ll boil up to 1.5l, though it does start to fill a little heavy when you do fully fill it.
It looks very good, a mixture of classic, almost rustic, designs but with a modern finish.
It sure ain’t cheap, but you’re going to be using it, and looking at it, every day, probably for years to come.
This kettle looks good on my worktop, and makes sure everyone know that is a Dualit, as it’s printed quite large on the bottom, just by the very bright light that shows you it’s switched on and draws your attention to it. It does everything a good kettle should, i.e. boil water quickly, pours well without drips, and has a gauge on either side so you can easily see how much water is in it, however it is placed on the worktop. I live in an area with very hard water, so we have a lot of limescale in our kettles. This one has a removable filter in the spout which can be easily cleaned, as can the main body, which has a concealed element.
I am very happy with this kettle, but I really can’t help wondering exactly what it is that makes it so expensive, as it doesn’t really do anything special. I just hope it will last much longer than all the kettles we have had in the past.
Great kettle with a fast boil! It has viewing windows on wither side of the kettle that show how much water is inside, along with measurements in both ml and cups.
This kettle is slightly loud when boiling- but nothing that is too noticible or bad when using it.
Very easy to clean out, the filter is removable making it simple and effective. The kettle is quite heavy though!!
This boils water.
A full kettle will boil in 3 min 45 seconds, but as this is the dead of winter and the water starts out colder, the process should be faster in the warmer months. It seems much quieter than my old kettle, a Breville stainless steel model. I like the chunky appearance and am now getting used to the lid. It is not a pop-open lid with a push-button release (though that would have been nice); rather, there is a large round button squarely on top of the lid and you press down on the part nearer the handle while simultaneously lifting up the part nearer the spout to release the hinged lid. Repeat the process to close the lid. Someone here mentioned that that is likely a safety feature and that makes sense if you have small children in the house. The parts are very plasticky. So much so, in fact, that both the kettle itself and the base are very skatey on the granite counter. Also, despite its plastic nature the outside of the kettle does get very hot. It won’t be going back, but it does seem a bit pricey for what it is, even allowing for the Dualit branding.
The kettle looks very nice in trendy dark grey and shiny steel but don’t be fooled the steel looking trims, they are just plastic coated and the kettle is light not a heavy build. The body of the kettle and the spout are metal. It has the Dualit logo across the bottom but not the tank like build quality of the original toasters. The kettle is only 1.5 litres so a bit smaller than my usual kettle but looks nice and compact and boils quickly. It has a whtie light near the base to indicate when it is turned on and a saftey feature on the lid where you press your finger on a circle to release the lid which makes it a bit safer around children. It feels counter intuitive to use though after so many years of kettles where you press a lever button to make the lid pop up. It comes, like most new kettles, with a short lead for safety. I boiled water in it 4 times to get rid of the plastic /chemical smell inside before my first use. I like it and it is a good kettle but the price is the sticking point for me. It isjust a lightweight electric kettle. I think the silvering on the lid and trim will degrade over time and perhaps peel or tarnish and won’t take a scrubbing. I live in a hard water area so this will further dull it’s shine. I couldn’t justify paying the price of this kettle. My brushed stainless steel one in the background of the attached photo only cost 17 from Asda and looks fine and does the job just as well as this Dualit kettle without the hefty price tag. I expected a heavier, all metal kettle for the price.
Wow this kettle is very smart.
It has a fairly compact design and looks very modern and sleek.
Fast boiling, it is quite noisy, but you get used to it. I think every kettle sounds different when you first start using it.
I love the cup markings on the side, which ultimately saves water and electricity.I
I do think it’s expensive, but the quality is high.
This is my first time owning Dualit product, but I am very happy and impressed with it. Very smart look, would fit into the modern or more traditional kitchen also. Slate grey colour, nicely visible measuring cup display window non drip spout. It is great quality product, so I feel the price does reflect that. It is quite heavy, well made and I feel 1.5 litre capacity is plenty even for my large family. It really fits saying that you get what you pay for.
This is a quality kettle, well-made and fairly heavy – and priced accordingly. The handle is sturdy and feels secure in use. The spout pours well and there is a removable filter to keep limescale at bay. The kettle is quick to boil and quite quiet which is somewhat unusual for a kettle with a primarily metal body. It has the usual rotating base, a nice big on/off switch and has markings on both sides – one for cups, one for litres. As is usual with Dualit products they are stylish in an understated way and practicality is at least as important as looks. So, all told, this is a very nice kettle but comes at a price.
The Dualit Domus 3000W Kettle in grey is well made and is well finished, something you would expect for the price. The round plug is also a nice touch.
At 3000W it boils water quickly and it has a 1.5 litre capacity, slightly smaller than our existing kettle which can hold 1.7 litres. It also has a smaller capacity than the standard 1.7 litres that other manufacturers have adopted. In mitigation we always tend to boil more water than we need so this may give us a saving if we boil less.
The viewing windows have large easy to read markings. The design is modern. The cord can he wrapped up inside the base. The lid is attached to the top of the kettle and folds back so that it can be filled with ease.
So all in all this is a very nice product.
However there are things that I am not so keen on. We have a Dualit Classic toaster in stainless steel and I particularly like the subtle branding mark on the outside of case. While it is a minor point, the branding on the kettle leaves you in no doubt as to where it comes from. It shouts out “look what I have got” in a very loud voice. A smaller ‘Dualit’ brand mark would have been much more classy. It’s just a little too bling for a premium brand. Less would be more.
The other point to note is that the base the kettle sits on and the base of the actual kettle is quite plasticky and a different texture from the main body of the kettle which has a more matt look.
Whether you find that this product is worth the cost or not will depend on how you view the brand especially considering that you can buy 3-4 kettles for the price of one of these.
On the plus side Dualit products are good and last a long time and some like the classic range are repairable which is a huge bonus in our throwaway society.
This kettles boils quickly and is easy to use. It looks good if you like your kitchenware a bit understated. It’s not flashy or eye catching, just looks smart and does the job. It pours well, and is easy to fill with a flip up lid. The on-off switch is large and easy to use – could be useful if you struggle with manual dexterity. It seems well made and sturdy, but it is pretty expensive as kettles go.
This is an excellent kettle. Smart looking, with sleek, contemporary styling, the mid-dark grey finish is quite subtle and resists marks effectively. The fill indicator works well and appears to be both reliable and accurate, which is rarer than it should be. The lid mechanism is perhaps a little more awkward than it could be, especially for those with smaller hands, but after you get used to it, it’s straightforward enough, with a nice, damped action, as has the main on / off switch. Although quite light, the material quality is good, the fit and finish of a high standard. In use it boils quickly, and is not especially noisy compared to some; the non-spill spout also works well, avoiding excess drips. The seating on its base is also positive and the general feel is very stable on this, and when held by the handle -the point of balance and shape are well judged to allow it to be moved easily. It is not a cheap product, but a good quality one, built in the UK, so while the asking price is a little higher than some it gives the impression of lasting and giving good service over a longer time period than some cheaper models might. On that basis, the value appears acceptable also. Impressive and well worth considering.
The Domus (Latin for home) range from Dualit features a kettle & toaster set that have a simple, modern design finished with a space grey finish (there are other colours and finish’s available). Dualit are a well renowned brand that put a premium on quality and longevity with their products being mostly handmade here in the UK, instead of mass produced. This level of manufacturing of course comes at a cost, with this being a rather expensive appliance.
When you pick up the Kettle for the first time there is a good amount of weight to it at about 1.2kg, but it’s fairly well balanced and isn’t top heavy. The kettle is primarily constructed of steel, but there is plastic used for the base, handle and lid of the Kettle. The plastic itself feels good quality and gives a nice subtle colour contrast to the stainless steel parts. What I don’t like are the fake chrome plastic accents on the kettle and base. It helps keep the weight down, but for a kettle that costs so much there is a little too much plastic used.
The kettle itself features a 1.5 litre boiling capacity with 3000 watts for rapid boiling through a large metal element that’s concealed in the base of the kettle, keeping it away from water contact to reduce limescale. The base allows you to rotate the kettle 360 degrees for left/right hand use, which is a feature that’s taken for granted with cordless kettles. The Kettle has a window on both sides so you can check the water fill level, but what’s clever is that one side features a cup level, while the other side measures water in litres. The plastic used for this window is BPA free which is safer and better to use. The handle is ergonomic & has a silicone grip, and the spout is designed specifically stop splashing, spills or leaks to get a more even pour. Built in the spout is a surprisingly easy to remove & install washable limescale filter to prevent any scale flakes from escaping the kettle.
Overall, if cost isn’t an issue and you want a premium high-quality kettle that will last a long time, then this product should definitely be on your consideration list. If you found the photos & this review helpful, please consider clicking on the helpful button below, it helps me out!
This kettle arrived nicely presented with a detailed box, warranty and instructions. It is my first dualit product and I was very pleased with the quality. Its a very well made cordless grey kettle. It has a 5 cup window (1.5l max) so you can boil what you need saving water and energy. It has a powerful heating element and certainly boils twice as quick as my previous generic kettle, it fills from the top and has a cleanable filter to prevent limescale in your coffee. It’s also bpa free. It’s a 5 star kettle at a 4 star price but if you want something to last this is for you
As far as I am aware Dualit products are still made in Crawley, Sussex and there is certainly no mention of “China” anywhere on this new kettle. This is the first kettle by the Dualit brand that I have seen, although I have used a number of their famous toasters at various self-catering establishments over the years. The Dualit Domus kettle is a simple traditional cordless design with a very high build quality — as you would expect from this brand — and I guess that it is partly hand-assembled like the toasters. This kettle comes nicely presented and securely packaged and once in use you can tell that it has been thoughtfully designed — no unnecessary features but just the ones you need. The features include five cup, 1.5 litre capacity with a clear measuring window; a powerful 3KW element for speedy heating – with a safety cut-off; a removable washable limescale filter and an anti-drip spout. The Domus is a dark gunmetal grey, with silver detail, and seems to be a solid piece of British engineering — my only very small niggle is the fact I’m told it’s “BPA Free” every time I look at the measuring window; nice to know but I only need telling once! Dualit products don’t come cheap and this Domus kettle is currently around one hundred pounds from Amazon — fans of the brand will probably happy to pay that price but for most people this model will only be worth four stars for value at most; mass-produced Chinese products are considerably cheaper! Personally, I like this kettle a lot – it is an iconic design with a build-quality like the Rolls-Royce of the kitchen and I would be happy to pay the asking price — a five star product but four stars for value overall.
