Excellent product for under 70 quid. Takes a bit of time to build but totally worth it for the price. Surprisingly strong once it is put together. And when loaded with wood is even more solid and sturdy.
Totally agree with the review from “J Wood” and I understand the sizing issue as stated by “Dr K James” the store is 6′ x 2′ but with a shed stuck on the right hand side.
Having looked at a log store at 157 and this at 67 I decided to take a risk and see if I could modify the Combo to just a woodstore. An extra 2 hours with tin snips a rubber hammer and a drill provided a standard woodstore. Saving of 90 and extra panels to re-roof another shed.
2017 : Have had two woodstores since 2013 & 2015 and thought I would post some pictures of them in use. They are both fairing well with no problems but as they are not against a wall I have put wire mesh across the back to stop the wood falling through. The green one is a basic woodstore and the grey one is the one that should have a shed attached. The log pile is 4 cubic meters and it all went into the two stores. Again when building use gloves and take your time and read the instructions. The whole thing feels flimsy when building but when properly located they are better than the wood alternatives that I had previously.
The product I received was actually the 8 x 3 foot Woodstore Combo. Its overall dimensions are, in fact, about 8’6″ x 3’6″, which is significantly larger than the 6′ x 2′ advertised in the product title and Description. I have, unfortunately, had to return it because it is too large for the space I have available. I didn’t assemble it, but the component parts seem quite well made – and that is what my four star rating is based upon. I’d have to agree with the previous reviewer that assembly is not exactly simple, although it seems to be very well designed. The instruction manual is clear and (as far as I could tell) pretty thorough. I wish I had the space to keep it. The packaging could have been better though, as a few of the pieces were bent or dented in transit.
This woodstore is excellent value. It is well made, and well designed andvery sturdy once everything is together.
When first opening the box I was a little worried about the thickness of the metal, it feels like the sheet metal from Meccano, but once together the structure is very tough and stable. The number of pieces in the box and the length of the instructions will also look fairly daunting, with some justification. The design is also excellent, either because or despite it being from an American company.
The only negative, although not enough for it to be anything less than five stars, will for some people be the difficulty in putting it together. There can be no doubt it is fiddly and at some steps requires two people due to the size of the pieces. No two parts are attached to one another, not even the lock and the door. It took me 8-9 hours over two days, although that was mostly alone. A helping hand would have been useful! I am a competent DIY-er, and would not say it was easy… However it is just Meccano, and made enjoyable by the fact it is well constructed, provides more than enough screws, nuts and sundries, and the instructions being faultless (if you suffer any problems you cannot blame anyone but yourself. Sorry.).
I would suggest wearing some thick gloves as there are some sharp edges, to be expected with sheet metal.
Overall I would strongly recommend. It looks good, is of perfect size, has a strong door/cabinet, good overhang on the roof and won’t rot like wood. There are no sharp edges once completed, and after the mid point of construction, as the finishing touches go on, you will be impressed at the attention to detail and overall quality.
