Condensation

Condensation is formed when warm moist air hits cold surfaces (windows, mirrors, walls, etc). Moisture in the air can also be caused by daily routines like cooking, showering, drying clothes indoor, even opening windows on a hot humid day, rainy day and when snow melts. Condensation can be reduced by using a dehumidifier to reduce the water content in the air (moisture).

Heavy condensation can cause damage to door and window frames, can increase humidity level causing air borne bacteria and discomfort.

Controlling mould

Humidity when condensates, can result in damp areas which if left untreated will in turn cause mould and mildew. Mould in your house is very unhealthy such as black mould that can cause a multitude of health problems.

Your defence against health problems such as asthma or arthritis that can arise from mould is to keep the humidity level in your house at a constant level.

Other applications of Compressor Dehumidifier

– Use if you suffer from allergies (caused by air borne bacteria)

– Use on a very humid and hot day when you feel uncomfortable because humidity can cause sweat evaporation process to slow down

I purchased this dehumidifier over the others available by EcoAir due to the sleek style and acclaimed litre capacity. I was not disappointed in terms of the design, the soft edged of the machine makes it look a little more pleasing in a room than some of the other boxy designs available. The functions are also very minimal but concise – you can change the fan speed from slow to fast, and choose whether to have the machine on continuously, 2 hours or 4 hours.

The machine does extract water from the air efficiently, however I wouldn’t say it was as fast as some of the reviews on here led me to believe. I left the machine on all day 12-16 hours and it extracted just one tub full (3.5 litres) Which is a substantial amount, but by no means as much as was being described by others.

There is a noticeable difference in the house (3 bedroom) since using this product just a few hours a day, the air is much lighter and we have had almost no issues with mould.

Highly recommend a dehumidifier if you suffer with condensation and damp, this one is a good one, but I think there may be batter out there!

Really happy with purchase, it’s bigger and slightly louder than I’d anticipated but we’ve had it less than 2 days and it has already cleared what I considered a bad condensation problem throughout the house, even upstairs, and we’ve only had it running in the kitchen for a total of 12 hours. Our hygrometer reading has gone from 75% to at its lowest 55%, and is now sitting around 63%. We haven’t had to run it over night to maintain the lower % and the house is also feeling cosier.
It was delivered quickly and was very easy to set up.

I bought this because I wanted to freshen up the ambience in my home during these damp foggy winter days when I always seem to get a high moisture content particularly in my conservatory.
And to my surprise…… this has done the trick. No more condensation in the morning. I emptied a litre of water out of the tank after a few hours and the room felt as fresh as the top of a mountain.
It also filters the air and seems to remove pet smells etc…my bedroom had a relative humidity of 60, after 4 hours of dehumidification it was down to 45 and was noticeably fresher.
I’m very impressed with this and have no hesitation in giving it 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersExcellent machine. Am using it on the upstairs landing of a three bedroom house. It is keeping the three bedrooms and bathroom dryer, reduced/eliminating the mould we had. We just had a water leak over Christmas and it dried that out very quickly. It is quite loud on full fans. I run it on the lower setting at 50% humidity and it seems to suit us. We are removing a full collector of water each day. Water collector is easy to empty, the filter is simple to remove and clean. The machine looks good, works well and I intend to buy another asap to run downstairs.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the second one. It’s also very good. It is the compressor type. It’s still too nosey first bedroom. But very good to use, the only gripe is the draw is bit fiddly to put back. It’s still OK
I found it dries the washing very quickly
I am very pleased and have no regrets
I found a big difference to my rooms. No mold smells.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWithin 24 hours this machine had made a HUGE difference in our home taking out large amounts of water from the air and making our home a much nicer place to be. It is heavy but it has wheels and a handle making it easy to move around the house and I think it’s a a non-issue if you have a one level home. Other reviews have said that it was noisy – but honestly my washing machine is a tonne louder than the machine and if you can live with that then you can certainly live with the dehumidifier. From the settings to the easy instructions and easy tray removal.. 5 stars – so happy with it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersA fantastic way of getting rid of excess moisture from the air. I’ve placed this in my bathroom and it clears all moisture out in about fifteen minutes, plus you get the added bonus of it heating up small rooms at the same time. Just stick it to around 50% and it’ll switch on and off throughout the day to keep the moisture down and the temperatures above normal. Great piece of kit and looking at getting a second one in the new year!

My daughter is between houses and is living in a damp, wet caravan during winter. It has been adversly affecting her health. Her clothes and posessions were covered with mildew! In the first night of using the dehumidifier, she collected over a pint and a half of water! She woke up to a dry environment for the first time in 9 months. A bargain! I whole heartedly endorse this product. Thank you.

Does the job very well – although it would be nice if there were a few extra settings to control how long it stays on for. Very easy to use though and works well. 4/5 due to the lack of extra settings and the price being quite high, but still highly recommended if you need to dehumidifier for your shower room.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHas really improved the dampness of our rented home. Easy to move on the castors and simple to operate. I use the washing function often as we live in a very rainy area and can go weeks without being able to hang clothes outside. Can leave on overnight in a closed room to dry out the washing significantly ( I usually still need to finish in the dryer but this is way more economical).

    Quick delivery. Does the job.
After doing a lot if research all with vairing views from experts I chose this. It’s small enough to be portable and powerful/economical to get the required job done. I’ve a medium sized 3 bed house, built in early 1900’s, so not modern by any standard, experienced moisture in the air, set this to run for a couple of hours and it extracts the water. I don’t know how correct the humidity sensor is. From what I have researched you’ll need to pay a serious amount of money for equipment that gives exact readings, little digital monitors really are not adequate if you want to be precise. That said it appears to be doing the job. The reservoir is sufficient to hold the water extracted, max. 12litres, I run it for a couple of hours to take the humidity down to 50% and get about a pint of water. It normally starts off at 70%. Most of my rooms measure 14ft by 14ft. It’s a semi detached and the only two rooms that are affected are not on the adjoing neighbor walls, the outer corner rooms, lounge and bedroom. I really only experience moisture in the air and not damp walls or Windows. I would recommend this, for its price and effectiveness. Ps. If you got washing on a cloths horse and use the extractor it’ll have dry in no time too.

Great bit of kit, use it in a spare room that gets incredibly humid and mould forms.

You can set the humidity and it tells you the room humidity. Humidity of 60 or below is recommended to stop mould.

It’s super efficient and really pulls the water out of the air quickly.

It is very loud, even on the low-fan setting.

If you use this with an entire house as opposed to one room you can expect to need to empty it frequently.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood machine, good value for money, no more noisy than Ebac Powerpac dehumidifier. Easy to use, helpful display (though a backlit display would be useful). Refitting of water container after emptying is a little fiddly. I had several Ebac Powerpac dehumidifiers before this, all of which broke during warranty (see my review). So far this EcoAir works fine, despite Amazon’s courier sending it to me on its side, despite clear warning label on the box (see photo).

Good machine, good value for money, not noisy.

Have had this product for about a month am using it in conjunction with another dehumidifier.
Have got one upstairs and the ecoAir dc12 downstairs have been suffering from a lot of condensation on the walls as well as the windows in my stone built terraced house, since getting a lot of damp in to the house last winter due to a leaking chimney stack that had to be removed have been running the unit and have found that after a couple of days the level of condensation has dropped considerably. The humidity level on the unit was set to 55% which has been achieved. All in all a well built and an effective unit.

I’ve waited approximately a month to post a review as I needed to check reliability. I have a four bedroom house so was a little worried the dehumidifier wouldn’t cope. It’s brilliant! Humidity drops very quickly, clothes and towels dry in less than 24hrs (dehumidifier is situated close to clothes horse) and bathroom steam clears super fast. I spent weeks researching dehumidifiers as the choice is bewildering, but I took the plunge with this one. Easy to use, big tank, not horrifically noisy, reasonably priced and it works. Btw, I had meaco before and it packed in after 2 years so I wouldn’t recommend that make.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI live in a lower ground flat which was in good condition at the time I moved in but as I started living in the heating and condensation rapidly created the perfect environment for mould and dampness. I gave up on simple remedies (moisture absorbers) and I decided to go for a dehumidifier. This dehumidifier is quite compact and easily movable across rooms thanks to the wheels. The humidity % indicator goes from 75-80% (after few days of non usage) to 45 in about one hour. House feels better after couple of hours of usage. Noise is not an issue, although I would not switch it on in the room during the night cause it’s like having a air conditioner working. When I do my laundry I put it in the next room with the door closed and I can’t hear almost anything. Laundry is almost completely dry after one night on “continuous” setting. In my house the tank is filled of half in 5-6 hours.
    I would recommend the produc

After reading a lot of reviews on various different dehumidifiers I am pleased to be in the position to add yet another positive comment. We’ve recently moved into a 17th century cottage, which we love but condensation running down the interior walls, not so much. The worst room was initially 80%, 48 hours and 6 (!) litres of water later it is now set at a comfortable 55% – no trickles of water on windows or walls in any other room either…so long as the doors are left open. Could not be happier with this product!

My apartment has long been plagued by damp in the winter months. Having purchased one of these for my parents, to hear such high praise about transforming their bungalow (or previously mushroom cave) into a lovely, dry, welcoming home, I decided that I should take the plunge and invest in a unit for myself. This weekend the unit arrived. I let it stand for two hours and could see the condensation building up around my aluminium window frames as the temperature started to drop outside. Within about 30 minutes the humidity had dropped from around 80% to 60% and continued to drop down to 45%. In that time a vast amount of water was sucked out of the air, I also noticed that my window frames were looking increasingly less moist! As I left the unit going I even noticed that my eyes started to become sore, they too were drying out! So, no more crying about mildew on my windows or damp behind my curtains, this thing really has changed the situation for the better.

Recently purchased a house with damp issues. Got to the bottom of the problems with DPC, new windows, guttering etc all.

However, naturally a house still has moisture. Been using EcoAir for 3 months and fantastic at taking excess moisture out of the air, easy to tell when no moisture on windows, doors on the morning after use.

Easy to manoeuvre, lightish and fairly quiet and not noticeable on a night. Great for drying clothes too.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersNice and compact machine. Not too noisy. The clothes drying facility is great.
We have a large 3-bed bungalow (bungalows are notorious for condensation) and use it in the conservatory which also keeps the rooms at the back dry. I might get a second one for the front rooms.
It would be even better if
    (I) the reservoir was a bit bigger,
(II) you have to line up the reservoir to put it back in.
Neither of these are big issues – just me being picky.

Overall an excellent bit of kit. It has one job to do and does it well. Only used it for one night and had no condensation (normally quite bad) on the windows in the morning. The only negative is that it isn’t as quiet as I would expect, don’t get me wrong, it isn’t like a lorry parked in the house but just isn’t silent, it is bearable so don’t let this put you off.
    Definitely recommended.

Nice product. Quieter than other units I have bought in the past and very efficient and easy to use. You probably wouldn’t want any dehumidifier on in your bedroom all night but this seems to work well even if you place it in a different room. It comes with an easy to use built in timer so you could just switch it on for a few hours while you are out. Its on wheels and easy to move but it also comes with a drain tube which allows you to avoid daily emptying of the tank if you can find a location with a drain nearby.

This has to be the best item I have bought online. It arrived promptly within the stated time and well packaged. I have had it for five weeks now. It is simple to operate and has very good clear instructions. I have an older model Challenge dehumidifier, which was making little impact on the condensation and problems we were suffering from, including persistent damp and mould. As we have spent most of the summer redecorating with expensive Acrylic paint, we wanted something to tackle the problem properly and the EcoAir is proving great for this. When positioned correctly in the room, away from the walls, it is removing a lot of moisture. I am only running it for around 4 hours a day, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening, during and after cooking and showers, on the lower speed. This seems sufficient for a our one bed flat so I have not used the higher speed yet. The digital display allows you to quickly see the level of humidity present and I have it set at 50% so I can see when it has worked and can switch it off, which saves on electric. Using it regularly is keeping on top of the problem. When it is freezing outside there is still a small amount of moisture on the window panes but none on the sills, which had pools of water on them or the walls, which were running with moisture, I find this acceptable as it is easy to remove with a cloth. It has another positive side effect as the warm air which comes out is helping with the heating. We have not had to turn the central heating on yet this year, despite a couple of really cold nights so this is proving cost effective.

The only slight niggle is putting the water collector back after emptying, which I find a bit fiddly, as the angle needs to be right or it sticks slightly. If you want to run it continuously in a room you are sleeping in, it may be too noisy for this but I would not expect to have to run it overnight as it is keeping on top of the problem.

I would definitely recommend this dehumidifier as it has exceeded what I thought it would do.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis unit is neat, stylish and in the short time I have had it, extracts water very nicely indeed. I would recommend, but there is also a hesitation too: I am not entirely sure that the humidity reading is correct. I have put two independent humidity/thermostat devices in the same room, and this unit appears to be “over estimating”. As a result, it does not want to switch off, when you think it should, and it just keeps running….while at the same time, showing a humidity reading that does not appear correct.

To give a real-world example, consider this:

I set it to 55RH, and kept monitoring it during first usage, with fans on double-speed. Water was being nicely collected, that’s for sure, but as the two “independent” humidity monitors dropped and dropped….from 68/70 to as low as 52, did this unit turn off? No!

Then the next morning, I came into the room (that was this morning as it happens), and had the unit turned off? No! While at the same time, the independent humidity monitors were showing 49RH. It had collected 1.5 litres in 15 hours, but was still showing 65RH, which was causing the unit simply not to turn off.

(As you can imagine, there’s a big difference between 49 and 68, so why was it still reading 65, and why had it not turned off….that is really the simple question!)

The result of that, is that you never quite reach your 55RH even though you know you’ve dropped that low, and the unit keeps on using electricity for a reading it will likely never decide it has reached.

My conclusion therefore, is that it is working really well from the collection of water point of view, but that the calibration of the unit in terms of humidity detection is off balance, causing a unit that will probably take forever to decide to turn off.

I’ve solved this in the end, but by setting a higher setting, and more or less ignoring what it is telling me. So by using my own humidity readings from my own monitor, I feel much more happy that I am reaching my desired levels. This is keeping humidity now down to about 53 as I write, and the higher settings on the unit are making it happily turn off and back on again, as I would have expected and hoped.

It’s great, but at least in my experience, just take with a pinch of salt, its’ readings, and rely on your own, and set it until you feel it’s turning off when it should. Hope this helps!

    Update: 31-10-2016

Having had the unit a few days now, I can say that I highly recommend it. It does indeed have a quirk where the measurements it takes are not super-accurate, and it does seem to shut off, but not quite when you think it should (by consulting a more accurate guage), but I have got round this now by siting a max/min guage on top of the unit, and powering it by an external timer, which I have coming on four times in 24 hours…..for a total of 8 hours.

    Using with an external timer
    ====================
Some reviewers have left ambiguity about whether the unit can be used with an external timer, and I can confirm 100% that it can. The main reason for this being possible is that the unit “remembers” where it was, and picks up the last settings, even if the power has been completely cut. This is a godsend, because it means that you can ignore the 2 or 4 hour programme on the control panel, and just use your own timer as you see fit, knowing it will come on just in the bursts that you want it to.

So to sum up – the unit can be helped by siting a proper humidity meter on top of it (for reference) and powering it with an external timer. For me, I feel this offers the most flexibility, and I can really see from the max/min exactly what the machine achieved in a real-world situation.

Great, but not turning itself off reliably when desired humidity is reached.

I live in a victorian built terraced first floor flat. We’ve had problems with damp and some mouldly corners of rooms.
Firstly I bought a meter to see how much humidity was in the air in our property. It was up to 80%!!

Read many reviews before buying this machine, what a gem it is.
Have had it for a week now and have collected nearly 14 litres of moisture from the air and fabrics.
Left it on at all times set to 60 on low fan, it just works a treat.
Dries washing overnight no trouble on the laundry setting and costs a few quid a week to run.
Has increased the ambient temperature in my flat by 3c also!

If you have any damp problems caused by lack of ventilation. Get one of these and you’ll not regret it.
    Has earned its money already!

This thing took seven litres of water, from the air in my mouldy flat, in just one day. My bedroom used to feel and smell constantly damp but, after about a week, this is no longer the case. Amazing. It only seems to automatically turn itself off when I set the humidity to 65% though. 60% seems to be too low and it rarely shuts off at this level. My flat is already warmer and dryer and I’m very impressed with the results so far.

Update: Auto shut-off is now occurring between 50-55% humidity and I’ve been independently verifying the humidity level with another humidity meter. My flat was just very damp and took some time for this gadget to dry it out. I’ve had it for two months now and I’m extremely glad that I purchased it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is working really well for me. I bought it after initially getting one of the small machines (by another maker) which did nothing for the damp in my room. I wish I hadn’t wasted money as this is so effective. I’m getting weirdly obsessed by how much water it collects! It’s pretty quiet even on top speed – a bit like an aircon unit and although I was a bit worried about buying the larger version, it’s still pretty small and can trundle about on the wheels. It’s also really easy to empty the tank.

Using it in my cellar which started to feel really damp. The whole area is underneath a detached 4 bedroom house. Easy to use. Set it at 35% humidity. After 3 weeks of just running it during the day. Have reached 55%. Can’t seem to get any lower readings but rooms in cellar feel really dry now. Original reading was 90%.
Started with fan on full but now just run with fan on slow speed. Was emptying 2 full containers of water each day but just 1 a day now. Good idea that it switches itself off when full. Have solar panels on roof so run dehumidifier during the day and am able to set it in the afternoon to run for 2 or 4 hours so that it switches off when sunsets to save on electric. Don’t know yet how much energy it is using running it everyday or if it will last out but it feel quite sturdy. So far it is BRILLIANT and working a treat.

    Looks:
Looks modern and pretty, it is very silent, even on the maximum speed. I can leave it in the next room, that I would not notice that it is on, even on the maximum power. If in the same room, you will feel the air and hear the noise, imagine a fan on a hot night (on the weakest speed), for the maximum speed I would not have it on the room.
    Operation:
Very simple to use. You can set a 2 or 4 hour timer after which it will turn off.
It is easy to emptying water. Expels warm air when in operation. You gotta love the laundry function, in one night is capable of drying clothes from one washing machine (autumn, lets test it in the winter).

Brilliant piece of kit; looks well made, sturdy and well designed. Collects tons of water and dramatically reduces humidity and quickly. I empty the container once a day at first then half of it after that. Does not cost alot to run, maybe 30-40 pence per day in the UK.

Highly recommended and I definitely recommend this over cheaper models; it is the best for it’s price from the research i’ve done.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’m super impressed with this dehumidifier. I was reluctant to spend much and had planned to get a cheap 50 quid one, but after doing a bit of reading around I decided it was worth spending a bit more and I’m glad I did! My basement flat bedroom has been feeling damp and clammy all summer, since I turned the heating off. I recently went on holiday for a couple of weeks and returned home to find my room growing mould. After deep cleaning it I wanted a dehumidifier to make sure the mould couldn’t come back. I’ve had this running just during the day for the past 2 days and have already had to empty the tank 3 times. I’m amazed how much water it pulls out of the air! My room feels warmer and smells cleaner. Wish I’d bought one sooner! I’ve never used any other brands so can’t do a comparison but this one looks great, is easy to use and is fairly quiet. Definitely quiet enough that it doesn’t bother me during the day, but I turn it off at night. I would fully recommend this dehumidifier to anyone!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI’ve often wondered why our house felt cold -even in hot weather. Due to a mild chest infection, I decided to invest in a dehumidifier the ( Ecoair DC18.) When it arrived I found the system to be very simple and instructions easy to follow. After unpacking and leaving it a while to settle, I plugged it in the electrics and upon pressing the start button got my first moisture reading. It measured 80 parts of water in the air which was considered high and could allow bacteria to breed. I then set the system to 55 a little higher than midway and placed it on single fan four two hours. And Wow! our house began to feel warmer, and that’s with no heating on. So it now runs two hours, twice a day = Morning & evening and for that I extract approx. two litres of water over this period. The DC 80, has still, not been able to reach my setting of 55 yet as its still seems to struggle on the 60 mark, but I think after a while, with regular use, it will achieve my setting. Why O Why we’ve not invested in a dehumidifier before, can only be a lack of thought to solve our problem. I believe the DC 80 with give us a much warmer dryer winter. and perhaps can now look forward to it. If you like to cook fresh vegetables, you know. Sprouts, cabbage etc. Its a mus

I read a lot of reviews before settling on this product. It works really well, and as previous reviewers have noted, I’m emptying water more regularly than with my old dehumidifier because this new one is so efficient! I use it for drying washing inside, and it’s great. Not too noisy behind the spare room door, but you couldn’t have it running in the same room as trying to sleep. I recommend this product.

This is the third humidifier I’ve bought over the years, and it is by far the best. It is very quiet compared with the others, easy to operate, and you can set a humidity level, (in steps of 5), where it will switch off as soon as the desired setting is reached, then on again when necessary. The filter is easy to clean, and the unit appears to be extremely efficient. We have it in the next bedroom to ours, with both doors open, and it doesn’t keep us awake. It is also a “good looking” humidifier. It is easy to empty, and I would recommend this humidifier to anyone, and comes with a two year guarantee, unlike the others, that only had a one year guarantee.

Can’t tell you how I found it as far as energy costs, but I do know it did wonders dehumidifying our new home, which we desperately needed!!!! There was a huge amount of humidity clinging to everything in our one bedroom flat when we moved in (partially because of a prior leak and ceiling collapse) so we had to dry it all out and preferably quickly. Took a couple weeks (because it won’t run of course when the water tank fills up, so we had to unload it when we got home from work,) but now the home feels normal again. We didn’t find it too noisy, but we didn’t exactly sleep next to it either. It was in a room below. Easy to understand and use, and to

Had this product for a couple of weeks now.

First it works, is well made, easy to operate and understand, cleans/polishes easily. It’s small and compact, and not too heavy. A very well made and designed dehumidifier. The chord stows well without trailing when moving the unit, the circle on the front allows you to easily see how full the tank is. It is a good product.

The reason for 4 stars (not 5) are two trivial points. The first reason is the noise. It’s not loud, and the product description is accurate. However, it is louder than the Mitsubishi model this replaces (which was twice the price however). It’s about as loud as a regular extractor fan, so it is noticeable in the room.

The second is the water container. I like the size, but the openings for emptying it are not that big and don’t think it’s optimal. I worry that when I’m emptying it there will be drips so I am extra cautious. Also when you remove the water tank sometimes the system still drips water and it collects at the bottom of the machine.

These are both trivial niggles, overall this model is exactly as specified, I have no problem recommending it.

    Revised Review after 3 years.

Having used this device for almost over 3 years now, I can say that this was a really good purchase and worth every penny.

Dries clothes quickly, remove moisture and mould. No breaks, hick-ups and silent as day 1. The plastic is also made out of really good quality and hasn’t lost any colour.

I can’t recommend this high enough.

    _————-_—————-_—————-
Day 1 collected full tank of water.
Day 2 collected full tank again.
It’s been running like a work horse every day for the past 6 months no issues what so ever detected.
Sound is very quite and can’t be heard it another room. We live in a small flat and leave this in kitchen area to clear the humid.
After using for 1 month we got rid of all black spots around the edges of the flat and can breath fresh air.

Firstly, this is an excellent product and I am very happy with this purchase, I would recommend this to anyone with a small to medium size flat/house. I live in a flat that does have some damp issues, and this product has solved that after a couple of weeks (4 hour dehumidifications, 4 days a week). The item looks fantastic, and has all of the functions that you could need, especially set time cycles and cloths drying settings. The reservoir size is more than big enough, allowing for multiple drying cycles before you have to empty. The extraction rate is presently high, considering that it is quite compact. I previously had a De’Longhi, this product wipes the floor with it (and is cheaper)

I’ve had this for a few months now, keeping an area of the house which was always cold and damp a bit drier. It does a good job and isn’t too noisy (though I wouldn’t have it in a bedroom).

I’ve never seen it extract anywhere near 12 l/day in real UK conditions more like 2l but that is still a lot of water, way more than the chemical dehumidifiers I was using before.

A lot smaller than I expected – it just reaches my knee…! I was initially concerned as some reviews described it as heavy & I wanted to be able to move it between the different floors in the house – but I needn’t have worried as it’s only 10kg in weight and didn’t cause me any issues.

It’s not too loud – I have slept with it on and have had no problems but it can’t be on when I’m just trying to get to sleep.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is a very efficient unit. This was a replacement for another model that we had been using for years. I was amazed at just how much more moisture it is able to remove from the house. With four adults bathing and showering, our bathroom can get very steamy but this unit is easily able to bring this under control without being in the room. It is also a quiet running model which shuts down when levels are correct to your setting.

    Brilliant product.

The build is great, the unit looks good too with a sleek and minimalist design. The wheels allow for easy movement between the rooms.

Performance wise: I live in a 2 bed flat. The hygrometer in my room indicates that the humidity levels in my room fluctuate between 60-70%. I left the unit running at max setting in the hallway, with all the doors open i.e. the kitchen, two bedrooms and the bathroom. Humidity levels dropped to 50% in 2 hours.

The noise level on max setting sounds comparable to an AC unit that is on max setting. As I won’t be leaving the unit running in my bedroom, I think the noise is a moot point.

Light weight, so easy to move around, and much quieter than our previous one (Delonghi Dem10). The control panel is very easy to use, and it’s nice to be able to select the humidity level in 5% increments. Two fan speeds are great – we usually use the lower speed for everyday use, and the higher speed for drying laundry. One thing to note is when the collection bucket is full, the machine makes a loud beeping sound – it is a good reminder to empty, but also could wake you up at night if near where you sleep.

The downside to this dehumidifier is that I’m not 100% sure that the reading is always correct, however, it has done wonders in a small house. Previously there was a lot of mold growing through the bathroom and bedrooms (all upstairs) but since everything was cleaned and this was put on once a day for 4 hours (timer) we have not had a reoccurence which has solved any issues. I would recommend this for a small house, but you would have to move it around rooms to begin with and then set it somewhere central (upstairs or downstairs) to help in the rooms.

A brilliant dehumidifier. We’ve been using it for 6 months and it has clears quite terrible damp issues in our Victorian terrace house. The water butt is easy to empty and the machine is easy to use, the only function that’s frustrating is the limited time limit of 2 or 4 hour per session, I would have prefered you could just leave it running.

Works a treat. I did a bit of research before purchase and happy I found this. Criticisms are on higher settings it is a bit loud. You couldn’t run this overnight in the bedroom or even in a hall. Lower setting is quieter but still not noiseless. Pouring the water tank out requires you have it completely over the sink or you could end up with wet feet (dribbles a bit) A spout of some description in the design would have helped. Other than this I can’t fault it at all. As to lif span we shall see but 2 year guarantee… Well worth the money.

I bought this in desperate need to dehumidify the house in winter times. When your drying clothes inside the house all the water condenses on the windows and wall which is not good in the long run. Plus in the winter it takes forever to dry clothes. The biggest motivation I had to buying a dehumidifier was when I started noticing mould growth on the ceiling.
As soon as I decided on buying a dehumidifier I did quite a bit of research with regards to reviews, options available on dehumidifier, capacity of the collection water tank.. and decided to go for this considering it has a 3.5 L water tank and the reviews were good.
So far I’ve had it for almost 3 months and all I can say is I’m loving it. Drying laundry is a breeze and most of the time I don’t put it to CO mode (laundry mode) just in case I forget to switch it off ( in CO mode it doesn’t switch off itself) thus wasting electricity. I just reduce the humidity level to about 60 and leave it in a room with laundry on a rack over night. The next morning the laundry is nice and dry.:) The first day I bought it I left it on CO mode for a day just to start dehumidifying the house and the tank was full by the next day.
After using it for months now I don’t see any mould growth on the ceiling any more. When buying it one thing that worried me was having a dehumidifier would increase the electricity bills but have to say I’ve not noticed any change in my electricity bills for few months now.:)

I set it at 60% humidity, and it started working for a few hours, captured a lot of water from the room, afterwards it only ran a few minutes every day, humidity remained at the chosen level. It isn’t too noisy, but maybe for a bedroom, it’s better to run it during the day and turn it off when you go to sleep.
Easy to empty, easy to configure, good manual, very good product.
I had to replace the UK plug with a standard EU plug, but that’s normal for all products from the UK.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis dehumidifier is so much better than the DeLonghi DNC65 model which I bought a few years ago it extracts moisture from the air very quickly and the control panel is well laid out and easy to use, even the water tank is quick and easy to remove when full and just as easy to put back in place. The addition of casters makes it easy to move around when cleaning and the fan is not too noisy even on maximum setting, this product is very stylish and well made, I would definitely recommend the EcoAir DC18 as I have no regrets.

The dehumidifier is exactly what we needed!! Our problem is a small bedroom so we originally bought one of the compact dehumidifiers but it basically did nothing. The Eco Air DC 12 does much better job!! You can feel the air being much drier, healthier and our walls stopped molding. The only issue is that we have to keep the dehumidifier on the top of the bed as we do not have 40 cm space in all directions around the machine and when we try to move it to be able to sleep in the bed, sometimes the water spills even though the dehumidifier is nearly nowhere to be full. Probably we just have learn to be more careful. But the way it works definitely deserves 5 stars.

I have been using the dehumidifier for a month now. It does an excellent job and my place has been more habitable than ever because of it. However, I have noticed 2 problems (hence the 4 star review)
    A) It wont stop working even if it reaches the humidity that you set it to, or it will stop for a minute or so and restart immediately.

I am extremely fussy about washing and my clothes would always smell damp. Our living room would have 3 racks full of clothes for 4 to 5 days while drying but wouldn’t dry properly, so they would always be smelly. I bought this and had it on for most of the days in the first 2 weeks during the day, then noticed the difference as our clothes now dry within a day (not living it on the whole time, just 2-4 hrs a day).
Also had a wall full of mould, in our own bedroom. I cleaned it and the mould has never come back. The windows dry faster and even the bathroom (which has no window) does not stay wet and damp for too long.
I wouldn’t consider it noisy, it is ok to have it everywhere but I don’t leave it on at night because it is not necessary.
I had those plastic dehumidifiers for wardrobe and they used to fill up quickly, now they don’t get much humidity at all.
    Life safer 🙂

Nice looking, quality dehumidifier. This really looks nice when sat in a room or in a hallway, sounds strange to evaluate it on looks but there really are some shocking-looking dehumidifiers out there, this is a nicely designed, curvy, contemporary looking one. Enough controls to satisfy those who want to tinker.

It will bleep at you when the reservoir is full, but you can see how much it’s filled up via the transparent ring on the front – nice touch. The reservoir is big enough to leave it for a long time before you need to empty. You can run a pipe from it outside/to a drain if you want to run constantly too.

This has been a terrific buy. We are exceptionally pleased with it. I’ll get the one niggle out the way – it is rather, shall we say intrusive. I wouldn’t or couldn’t sleep in the same room with it working. If it is a few feet away from the bedroom it is fine. As for the job it is supposed to do – GREAT. The whole house is feeling a little different. Several damp spots have disappeared and my wife swears that with the dropping of humidity etc. in the house she is sleeping better than she has for years. The 12l water tank is a bonus as you are not continually having to empty it. If you are considering a dehumidfier then this should be high on your wish list.

We’ve been using this dehumidifier for almost 1 year now and I have to say We’re loving it!

We decided to buy this machine because the ventilation in my upstairs bathroom is very bad, to the point that it may as well not exist.. This means A LOT of steam gets trapped inside the bathroom after our showers, and then the steam escape from the bathroom to our hallway, causing the ceiling corners to develop dark spotty moulds. So we bought this dehumidifier and cleared the moulds.

Ever since we started using this dehumidifier we haven’t had any problems with moulds, the humidity after showers are always high (around 85~90), then within a couple of hours, it would drop to 60, which is a much more comfortable level. We also find the 2 or 4 hours timer function very useful!

The only complain if I have to pick bones from a stone is that the alarm sound that it makes (to tell you that the water tank is full) could be a bit quieter, a non-issue, really.

It’s amazing. Our bedroom (a badly added modern extension to an otherwise great old house) was constantly damp — we had to clean new mildew off the walls at least weekly. As soon as we got the dehumidifier we stopped having any problems at all. The room even *feels* really different.

We slept with it on for the first few days, which was fine, and now we just run it during the day. We have it set to 45%, and it regularly gets to that point. We usually empty it once every 24 hours, although I left it set to 55% on the lower-power setting over a long weekend away and it ran till just after we got home. I love it.

It’s brilliant. Expensive yes, in this case you do get what you pay for. With the arrival of my beautiful daughter I desperately needed to address the air quality in our house.
I have it set up in the kitchen as we live in a 1930’s house with storage heaters and no ventilation to the outside world. So obviously when we cook the windows are covered in condensation and mould will appear on the glass and walls. Setting this to 50% and letting it manage everything is brilliant. Every 1.5days we have to empty it, I’d say our house is a worse case scenario.
It’s really easy to use, 2 fan modes we leave it on the lower setting to manage daily. If we are boiling water for long periods then ill put it on the higher setting.

I just need one now for upstairs to deal with the bathroom(with no heating) walls are black all the time. saving to get another 🙂

It it moved on a daily basis between the two rooms and there is a noticeable difference. The rooms are not so cold or chilly at this time of year and seem much warmer even when the heating is off.
It’s very compact and solidly built and is on a set of little castor wheels so it is very mobile.

I wanted to write this review as I was aware that I cynical about the difference it would make and despite doing my research had still therefore been bracing myself for intense disappointment. It has however made a huge difference to my whole (2 bedded, large-lounged, open plan flat with no extractor fans in either the bathroom or the kitchen). My mould and condensation have now vanished and it seems easily able to cope with multiple showers and drying laundry. I did help things along in awkward places such as wardrobes with those small disposable hanging dehumidifiers but I’m not actually convinced this was necessary. It appears to genuinely be able to remove something around the 12L in 24 hours that it claims and whilst I’d obviously rather not have to have it, it is reasonably compact and attractive for what it is.

I would note that it is not the most quiet of appliances, though not by any means intolerable for me – I read various reviews/comparisons of different machines and concluded that the larger reservoir and other features were more important to me for the money I was hoping to spend. I cannot at this stage comment on how long it will continue to work well nor how much it costs to run but I am very happy it has solved my problems as suggested.

When I plugged it in, it read a moisture level of 70 which is around mould moisture. Within 2 days each alcove is down to a constant 45 which is acceptable.
I am so happy with my purchase and could not be happier with the outcome.

We bought this in September to replace a heavy, lumbering, erratic, noisy and leaky (not to mention expensive) Ebac model which died. Gleefully tossed it in a skip and purchased this little wonder.

Straight out of the box it was miles better. It’s very portable, on four castors, so can just be wheeled from room to room. Compared to the Ebac, it’s virtually silent (I can have it on in the bedroom and sleep fine), it pulls a huge amount of moisture out of the air, can be set to run until desired humidity is reached, or set on a 2 or 4 hour timer, or permanently to dry laundry.

We have used this daily since purchase and it’s going great. Love it. House is so much warmer/drier and healthier!

I’ve had this for around 10 days and so far I am very happy with it. The compressor is virtually silent with the only noise being caused by the moving air. If you want a totally silent machine then this isn’t for you but by the standards of most dehumidifiers this is a quiet model with a white noise sort of sound. Like all dehumidifiers it does not collect anywhere near the stated amount of water but none the less it compares favourably to a previous model that I had in the past from Ebac especially taking into account its compact size.
Overall I highly recommend this model and consider a bargain at its price especially as it come with a two year warranty.

Brilliant machine. Bought to replace a Meaco desiccant machine which leaks at random, leaking the water it is collecting and defeating the object of a dehumidifier. Within 12 hrs it had collected 3.5 litres and needed emptying. Another 12 hrs and 3 litres more. It appears as efficient as the desiccant machine and no noisier. The control panel is easy to navigate and the whole machine feels of good quality. It comes with an instruction manual so no need to faff on the internet trying to download one. The dry air it exhausts is not quite as warm as the dessicant machine in line with the different design-compressor- and lower running wattage. All in all a cracking machine which feels like it should be about 200. I also own an eco air desiccant which has been faultless for 3 years save for a blown fuse.

This unit is excellent and we now have 2. One that has been running for about a year in a holiday home with the drain feeding into a sink and unattended- set to tick-over to keep the place dry in the colder damper weather, it really makes a difference. Also used when decorating to help dry out plaster and paint. Has just kept going. Just bought another for drying the laundry in winter – it has a laundry setting. They are simple to use, well made and robust. I wish more appliances were as good as this.

We purchased this item recently based on reviews and it is doing a very good job , we had most of our walls in the house re-plastered , due to being in bad condition which created excess moisture in the walls and the air we had water running down the windows etc and myself and husband suffer with arthritis in our joints which again the excess moisture made our joints feel much worse , until we discovered this beauty that sucks all the water in , our walls have dryed beautiful and our joints are amazingly better , I don’t think I could be with out it now we have adjusted to breathing in purified air , it is truly amazing

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe decided to invest in a dehumidifier when it took us 4 days to line-dry our laundry. We have run it almost continuously and usually on high since it arrived 3 weeks ago and the humidity has dropped from 85% to about 60%. Our flat is now much warmer, wooden doors don’t stick anymore, and laundry dries within a day. I think it’s a bit too loud to put it in the bedroom while sleeping, but it doesn’t bother me if I’m working or watching a movie. Our electricity bill has gone up about 10%, but that seems a reasonable price to pay to be so much more comfortable.

Amazing. Humidity in our bedroom was constantly about 75%, causing mould to build up and water dripping from the windows in the morning. It’s all long forgotten now with this amazing dehumidifier. Humidity is now around 50-55%, it did extract 3.5l of water during the first night only (I had it on for full night the first few nights and now only have it on for 4 hours when we go to bed). It’s not too noisy which is great as we do use it in the bedroom. It helps to maintain normal levels of humidity. I would recommend this to anyone.

I installed it as soon as it arrived in my caravan. I set it to reduce the Humidity to 50 per cent. So far I have to empty it about every 5 days. It seems to be meeting my requirements really well and I recommend it to anyone who needs to remove water from a damp atmosphere It seems quite a lot better than the item its replaced. Seems so far like a very good buy.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe had been having problems with condensation on windows and walls in our 3 bedroom bungalow, and suddenly noticed that a lot of our furniture was starting to grow mould.

I’ve been using this for 3 days and have already managed to fill it up twice! I was amazed at how much moisture was in the air. Our humidity was around 70 – 75% but we’ve managed to bring it down to around 55% (I haven’t managed to get it any lower yet). We haven’t had any condensation since using it.

It’s too early to say whether it’s stopped the mould from coming back, and the real test will be as we get into winter, but I certainly can’t fault it at all so far. I just wish I’d bought one sooner!

im absolutely amazed at how much water it can extract. we keep it on max extraction all day because we are in a single glazed apartment and have noticed a lot of difference in the dampness. there is still mould but im sure it will take time to clear up. its portability doesnt really help much because we have very thick carpets and the castors dont work very well on them.
overall id very highly recommend it. we had a unibond tab dehumidifier and it was rubbish in compariso

Indispensable for controlling the humidity in my cellar. The EcoAir DC12 Compact Portable Dehumidifier is quiet and very effective in reducing the humidity level. It is easy to move either by pushing it on its rollers or lifting it up using hand recesses at each side. The water container is very easy to remove for emptying and the machine automatically goes in to standby mode when full. I am also very pleased with its sleek, modern appearance.

Bought one of these after reading lots of reviews on different dehumidifiers. Not disappointed – does the job perfectly. Keeping mould and condensation at bay. Easy to empty. Fairly quiet in use, just the sound of a humming fan. Easy to use – can be timed for 2 or 4 hrs or continuous (automatically stops when water tank full). Digital display very clear and tells you actual air humidity. I have it set at 50%. If it hasn’t been on for a couple of days it shows my air humidity to be around 80%, so this purchase was needed! It works so well I bought another one for the other floor of the house.

Does the job. Now have a room where the windows and walls are not dripping wet. Very useful digital humidity readout and settings with timer which can be set to turn on in 2 or 4 hours.
Only negative is that it is fairly loud. You probably would not be able to leave it on the higher or even lower setting in the bedroom at night as it may keep you awake if you are sensitive to noise. I can cope with the lower setting but my partner cannot.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery quite and functions well, I live in a flat and the windows constantly had 3″ (75mm) of condensation in cold weather, started using the Dc12 and brought the RH down from about 60 % to below 45% no condensation!. now I only use it occasionally as it would appear that the flat was originally damp before I use the D12 after using it for about a week I found that the RH overall was lower it seem to have removed the overall dampness which must have been in walls furniture etc I only now use it occasionally when there is a outside temperature below say 4 degrees

This dehumidifier is wonderful! Simple to use and not taking up too much space, it is effectively dealing with the condensation (and resulting mould) problems we have had in our house which used to worry me and cause me a great deal of extra work I would rather not have spent my precious time on. I like the 2-hour and 4-hour timer functions and usually only switch it on for two hours at a go, when we are showering or cooking, so it is unlikely to be costing a great deal to run but is extracting a LOT of water from the air in our home. It is gratifying to tip all that water away rather than have it gathering on windows and window sills and causing mould on walls.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat product. We use in a 3 bed mid terrace house. It has removed condensation from the house completely although we do have to move it from room to room.

In terms of size it’s just bigger than hand baggage allowance on a plane and not too heavy.

It looks modern and is easy to use. You can run it using a timer, the humidistat or have it on constantly.

Noise is subjective. It’s as loud as a fan (which is what’s making the lions share of the noise). It’s too loud for me to sleep.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersHad this dehumidifier a few weeks now and it’s made a huge difference to condensation and the air quality. It’s got a great size tank and all as one if drying clothes indoors, you can turn it so the out vent blows on them which has a similar effect to line drying, or as close as you get indoors, without steaming everything up. Once it’s reached the correct humidity it knocks itself off and there are 2 speeds. When you look at the controls initially it looks like it could be complicated to use but you very quickly get to grips using manual provided at first. This is a proper, seriously impressive dehumidifier for the price and would recommend without hesitation. Even the doors that clearly must swell with air moisture and were occasionally sticking, now open and close comfortably.Delivery was also very quick considering it was also before Christmas.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDoes the job, reasonable noise level. It does not seem to switch off as often as my previous model. However, it does remove water quit effectively. The tank is not very large and whilst this is quoted in the spec it’s sometimes overlooked when looking at other ares of the spec. The tank is easy to remove but quit hard to hold, no handle, so if you have to negotiate stairs etc. be aware.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI did a lot of research before buying this product, and I am impressed. Very easy to operate. Relatively quiet – we move the unit around between the bathroom, hall and kitchen, and it causes us no irritation. The condensation on the windows throughout the flat disappeared from day one (been in use now for 2 months). Hopefully that also means that our walls and furnishings are also receiving protection from mould… We use for 6hrs a day and it collects approx. 3 litres a day. Have recommended to friends.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFantastic buy. Real problems with condensation and mould/mildew in studio apt due to just general occupation. The machine is on constant/laundry setting and the difference in the air quality is brilliant. Not a trace of the previous mould and washing is dry in a day. Needs to be emptied every 2 days which gives an indication of how much moisture we create just living in a small space. Its very quiet, glides easily on the wheels, lightweight and looks sleek and modern. One of the best buys I’ve made
