DC18 has easy glide castors enabling moving between rooms a simple process where there is no need for lifting. |
Condensation
Condensation is formed when warm moist air hits cold surfaces (windows, mirrors, walls, etc). Moisture in the air can also be caused by daily routines like cooking, showering, drying clothes indoor, even opening windows on a hot humid day, rainy day and when snow melts. Condensation can be reduced by using a dehumidifier to reduce the water content in the air (moisture).
Heavy condensation can cause damage to door and window frames, can increase humidity level causing air borne bacteria and discomfort.
Controlling mould
Humidity when condensates, can result in damp areas which if left untreated will in turn cause mould and mildew. Mould in your house is very unhealthy such as black mould that can cause a multitude of health problems.
Your defence against health problems such as asthma or arthritis that can arise from mould is to keep the humidity level in your house at a constant level.
Other applications of Compressor Dehumidifier
– Use if you suffer from allergies (caused by air borne bacteria)
– Use on a very humid and hot day when you feel uncomfortable because humidity can cause sweat evaporation process to slow down

Has been on pretty much 24/7 since we got it which was to dry out a damp wall. Draws maybe two litres over night normally, but will fill the four litre tank with a full clothes horse of washing. Seems more efficient than using the tumble dryer. Noise-wise it’s fine to leave running downstairs while sleeping.
Really good dehumidifier would definitely recommend. Had it two years and still going strong. Really helps to dry clothes and keep our flat moisture free. Humidity can be over 80% when I leave for work at 8am in the morning, I switch on when I’m leaving and by the time I get home at 3pm humidity is down to around 60% and lots of water collected and that’s just in a small flat. Isn’t as noisy as other dehumidifiers I’ve had but is fairly loud, not great of you’re in the same room as it but if you had a spare room you could put it in or put on when you go out wouldn’t be an issue. Don’t mind it for an hour or two if in the same room but noise does get on your nerves after a while.
Works well but does seem to produce more cold air than our previous dehumidifier? It can easily chill a small conservatory for instance, on the flip side great if used in the Summer I would imagine
We took a while choosing the model but happy so far ! Timer function is great , means you can go out and leave on without the worry of getting back. Filter is easy to remove and clean, water tank is simple to empty (haven’t tried the hose function) . It has a low humming noise which I now find really soothing but isn’t quiet ! We have a 3 bed house with a flat roof and is perfect , I leave on for 2 hours in the morning or evening and empty every couple of days . Occasionally use the washing function .
I got this to use in a small utility room with condenser tumble dryer that always had condensation on the walls. Problem solved. The amount of water this takes out of the air is amazing. Very happy with my purchase.
Had lots of condensation on the windows, damp and mould. That is now managed with this in the room. Needs to be emptied every couple of days which is fine. Noise is noticable but I wear headphones a lot. Easy setup and is shaped so it can be out of the way. Quite big but not too heavy.
Humidistat function is great – you preset the % humidity you want (40-60% being the recommended range) and the dehumidifier automatically stops when it reaches the preset level – avoids overdrying the air. The unit looks modern and well designed, and it rolls easily on my wooden hallway flooring, but it is heavy so I probably wouldn’t want to have to move it upstairs for example. The tank is a little awkward to carry when taking it out to empty, but that’s a minor issue. Mostly very happy with it. NB: Don’t take any notice of the extraction rate claimed by any dehumidifier manufacturer – I think they must test them in lab conditions which replicate a tropical rainforest, not the average UK home… I live in a 1930s house with solid brick walls (no cavity) and specialist builder who deals with damproofing etc recommended all such households would benefit from using a dehumidifier during winter months, to avoid condensation, etc. Judging by the amount of water this unit is sucking out of the air in my house, it was good advice…
Fairly neat unit, works well, but a lot louder than expected compared to an older product from the same manufacture
This dehumidifier works well and looks less ugly than other models that we considered. The water tank is a good size and it clears condensation very well. It has definitely made a big difference for us.
Despite its effectiveness we have noticed that the timer function is limited and there doesn’t seem to be a child lock for the controls. Our tank has also started to show signs of mould, but will be difficult to clean due to its design.
Overall this is a good and very effective dehumidifier with a few minor points that could be better.
Very smart looking device. Amazing how much water it extracts in 4 hours, especially when drying washing. Helps it to dry much quicker as well. Used mainly for this but occasionally left on our landing to clear condensation from windows. Also read that it’s good to use to remove excess damp from air for asthma sufferers which my daughter is so gives me a bit of peace of mind too.
Really impressed with this purchase, cant believe the volumes of water that have come out of it so far! Great for a laundry room and to help with damp too. Very impressed. Looks great, a little on the heavy side but it has feet that make it easy to slide on carpet.
We live in a 1 bed ground floor flat and have always struggled with damp especially in the winter. Wish we’d bought this sooner, its been AMAZING. No more damp, our clothes dry within a few hours and it helps keeps the house warm. Absolutely brilliant!
I bought mine in 2016 so this is a very late review. If you are thinking of buying this do it! It’s a fairly compact dehumidifier that has been working like a champ since I purchased mine. I mainly use it to dry my clothes and extract excess moisture during days when it’s humid. I’ve had other dehumidifiers before but EcoAir is the best. I am now moving to a new flat and my soon to be ex landlord has asked me the model no. as he will be buying one for the new tenant moving in.
Bought this to reduce condensation in the kitchen, windows would often run with condensation but not any more. I run it for a few hours a day around the time we are cooking and we get almost no condensation even when the temp drops below zero. Usually fills the tank over a few days so extracts approx 1l over 3 hrs at 22-23 degrees c so in line with advertised performance.
The noise is quite noticeable but not intrusive over a tv in the next room.
We love this product! We bought as our house doesn’t have great ventilation as we don’t have a fan in the bathroom. I was shocked at how much water it collects and how quickly! I feel like the air is cleaner. It is also great in the winter when drying clothes indoors, it reduces moisture in the air and reduces any damp smells. It is very heavy product to move around but great that it also has wheels. We use the 2hour function often. Couldn’t recommend more!
I have a small 2 bedroom terrace house. I had new double glazing fitted. The damp got so bad, the water was dripping off the walls and windows, black mould growing on the ceilings, after I had repainted them. Unit transformed the house. It’s sitting on the top landing. Runs during the day, has a 4 hour cut timer if needed. house is now nice and dry. Very easy to use
Highly recomended
It turned up absolutely filthy, the box was poorly sealed but didn’t expect to clean a new product. Disappointed in that.
Good at extracting water. Dried my washing in around 6 hours. The fan on the side helps in the drying too. Humidity numbers I don’t think are v accurate but I just turn it on full fan then turn off when washing dried, so I just ignore the numbers.
This does remove a lot of water. Down sides are two: 1) The tank is fiddly to get back in when emptied. 2) It is very loud even on low power. The only way this could be acceptable in our house was to have it on a timer and only come on at night. In fairness this is a general problem with dehumidifiers but until I find one which is actually quiet 4 stars is the limit.
Really easy to use and it really work. When doing laundry, it extracts full tank of 3.5l in like 10 hours.
I’ve thought about getting a dehumidifier for years and so eventually did ..my flat built in 1895 got damp in 2 rooms ..I used the DC12 for the first time today in the worst room ..within 2 hours it collected a good amount of water and instantly feels dry ..should have bought this year’s ago !
I purchased this to use in my green house. I cannot praise the unit enough. It’s controlling humidity perfectly and very economical as it switches itself off and on when needed. Excellent product.
Stillg ping strong after years of nearly constant use. This dehumidifier is a blessing! We use it to dry our clothes as being in the UK we don’t get much outdoor drying time. Very light and easily moved around the house. Good length cable. Good quality construction means it’s solid, it would break if you dropped it but hey, don’t drop it! I am always out to get the best quality product I can for the price I am willing to pay and I have absolutely no hesitation in saying that this is a top quality product and well worth spending money on.
This is a great product. It can run quietly in a room that you are in, or be left running by itself. It has an automatic cutout so it won’t overflow. It can also be adjusted should you need more/less moisture left in the air.
It has the side effect that it can be quite addictive in measuring how much water is taken out of each room at different times!
It does help dry clothes more quickly if they can’t be hung outside. It can be wheeled easily. Although it is a bit heavy/awkward to lift up stairs it is not too difficult to do so.
Not only do I highly recommend this, but I bought another one as a gift!
We’ve got 3 of these and use them in our rental portfolio. They are the best for cost/ease of use/removal of humidity of any dehumidifier (usually very disappointing) that we have ever bought.
Heavy for portable but ok to push on the level from room to room. Sucks up a full tank of water over a day and takes it down from 85% humidity to about 45%. Wouldn’t do to leave it on if away as it would need emptied somehow (unless direct drain is used). Fan gives a slightly cool air. We only will use it in winter as old Crittal windows, but seems to be reducing the condensation and I’ve not seen any mould since getting it and after cleaning a load off with bleach before getting it. Don’t bother with it on if you have a bath or have an open window as pointless. Put it on after bath has drained and windows shut.
I am impressed with this piece of kit. It replaced a dehumidifier I bought many years ago. There are so many more features than I had anticipated. I am well-pleased.
I have been using this dehumidifier for over a year now and it is excellent. It does make noise but it hasn’t bothered me so far as I am generally not in the same room as it. It removes moisture from the air efficiently and helped with damp problem. Considering how much I use it I think the price is good. I would highly recommend.
This works really well. We live in a small two bedroom apartment where moisture accumulates quickly onto the walls and windows, especially since the kitchen is directly connected to the living room, we have not much window room, not very good circulation of air even with the windows open, and no way to hang out our clothes outside when they’re drying. This keeps any mold from forming and even our clothes dry faster. Excellent product so fa
Works perfectly and reasonably quiet. Only downside is how much electricity it uses if left on for long periods but would still recommend it if your looking for one . I use in a 4 bedroom house and need to empty once a day if used all day
I have had this dehumidifier for 1month and it is excellent. I got it for the upstairs of our old house. It is very easy to use. it automatically calculates the humidity in the room and you can set the moisture level that is appropriate for you. It collects a large volume of water up to 18L. It is perfect for a big room. I place it on the landing upstairs and it works for the whole house. I have found it dries clothes if placed on the rack, and it also helps lessen any strong cooking smells in the house. so far so good.
Good: really good value for money. I bought this for a one-bedroom apartment that has an internal bathroom with a dodgy extractor fan. I keep it just outside the bathroom and it clears the steam out very quickly. It has also been effective at clearing moisture away from a leak in a wall from neighbouring property and at taking the moisture out of laundry drying indoors during winter.
Easy to operate, empty and clean.
Bad: you do need to angle it a bit to target certain areas so need to shift it around so ultimately have it on for quite a long time to completely clear an area.
Can be a bit noisy. Doesn’t matter too much with other noise during the daytime but too loud in the evening.
Not the lightest but is on casters so not such a big deal as coasts nicely on wooden floor.
I cannot comment on durability as we’ve only had this a week, but I can say it preforms extremely well. The instructions are clear and the control panel is straightforward. For such an effective unit it is small and slimline.
I ordered this particular dehumidifier as it’s a Which? Best Buy, with good water extraction, good energy efficiency and quietness of operation.
The filter is easy to remove and clean, the tank can be a little fiddly to remove and slot back in, especially as there is very little ground clearance, but you just need to take a minute to look where the guides are and what lines up where and it’s easy after that.
This is our third dehumidifier and easily the best. I highly recommend it.
I am familiar with using, dehumidifiers at home and in my “mancave”.
This one is for drying washing indoors. Sheets and clothing are hung in the bathroom after spin drying. This is a really powerful dehumidifier and the gentle heat that comes out with the air flow seems to help remove the humidity. Washings are dry within four or five hours. It does of course make some noise, but with the bathroom door closed you can hardly hear it. I would certainly recommend this 18litre model.
We have ordered it a while ago now, but this product became so useful now, it keep the air dry and purified, we have had no issues at all, when emptying it, we also get so suprises how water from air it collected. Great thing.
Love it love it love it it helped removes the moisture from our rented apartment and noticeably less mold after a week of using it! Our leather products didn’t mold so quickly and it doesn’t make a crazy lot of noise either so would highly recommend this produc
Takes 8 to 12 hours to dry a full load of jeans, sheets etc . its not magic . i wish the timer function was longer as its only a 4 hour timer on the model i got . Costs 20 cents per 4 hour cycle .
Works well, helps with our indoor laundry room. With the radiator – > cloths dry in hours, as apposed to Days [due to high humidity].
Does work well in large rooms. (not the whole house)
The main problem is the filter does let in dust and over time the innards get clogged with dust – which cannot be cleaned easily. i have yet to even attempt to take it totally apart [if even possible]
My current solution is place a kitchen roll sheet between the filter, which now it catches smaller particles.
Not my first dehumidifier but definitely more sophisticated than previous ones. Quiet enough to sleep and leave on in the bedroom on low fan setting. Audio alarm when tank is full is great. Slim and sleek design and crucially does what it says on the tin taking out between 1 and four litres a day depending on humidity level (old Victorian property). Would highly recommend this machine.
For the first time in years I have been able to dry a washing inside and have minimal condensation on my windows (they are normally dripping at this time of year). I was amazed at how well it dealt with the moisture coming off just a small washing (in laundry mode), about 4 litres to be precise. Very impressed. It is also a sturdy unit, very easy to move around on the castors and very easy to empty. My only critisim is that it works in increments of 5 when recording humidity but a lot of dehumidifiers do. I would say this unit is very good value for its capacity and I don’t find it too noisy at all although I couldn’t sleep with it in the same room.
Have a fairly damp and old house, this is taking a significant amount of water out of the air and helping with damp control.
Not too big and bulky but big enough to make a difference.
Living in a hundred year old semi I have for the last two years battled moisture. It drives me potty and I can often, especially in the winter, come home and the house smells muggy. So after some research I settled on this model.
First thing that struck me was how small it was. It actually is compact. It is also very heavy. There are four wheels to move it about and sturdy hand grips for lifting.
Set up is straightforward. There is a large display that once on gives you your relative humidity reading. From there you have options. Using the plus and minus you can set your target humidity. If you drop it past 35% it goes into continuous operation mode and will run until full. Or set a percentage and it will run until it hits it.
You can control the speed of the fan to a degree or use the 2 or 4 hour timer. Theres a laundry mode and you can also use the pip outlet to plumb it in somewhere for continuous drainage. If you dont theres a generous 3.5 litre tank. Its easy to remove and empty from the front.
After a few weeks’ use it has earnt its money. The house doesnt smell or feel damp. As a result I have had less condensation on the windows and the heating is more effective as the air is drier. It also pumps out warm air too which is a bonus in winter,
Where you place it is key. I tend to leave it in the hall or on the landing for general all round use. However, if you have a problem room you could locate it there. Once I get one of my sockets reinstated I’ll likely situate it in the Kitchen diner.
Its clear to me my house is warmer and dryer and smells a lot better and should hopefully put paid to condensation and damp.
Looked at lots of reviews and ended up choosing this one. Had it going a few weeks and it’s made such a difference to our 3 bed house, the washing drys the same day when hung on clothes horse which means it still smells great.
Little louder than expected but we don’t have it on when sleeping so it’s no issue. Would highly recommend this of you have a bit of damp, have to dry clothes inside or if you have any chest conditions and moist air aggravates it.
Its good; a bit pricey but works well. Have used it in the conservatory to get rid of condensation, in our old house that had a smell of damp when we moved in, and to dry clothes in the winter, and its done the job in all cases. The dog knocked the my first one over and broke it (he’s a big dog tho; 7 1/2 stone of enthusiatic rottwiler pup) and I’ve bought another the same to replace it.
Great value for money. It’s nice to look at (unlike some dehumidifiers), the noise is low and pleasant like a background fan, it’s easy to move around and it really works. We’re surprised by the amount of water it collects in 24 hours and find it very satisfying to empty it out. The air quality in the house has improved and we’re no longer fighting mould off the walls and bathroom ceiling. We used it 24/7 for the first few weeks, moving it around the house after a few days in each room, but now we only need to use it after showers or if we’re drying clothes inside. We did notice a small increase in our electricity bills the first few months, but it’s worth it for the results and our long-term health.
Very effective dehumifier. Since i started using it 6wks ago, i must have emptied about 15 full buckets of water. Cant believe the amount of humidity circulating around my old (and very well maintained) terrace house!
My last dehumifier (Ebac) of 7yrs was good but EcoAir is much better.
We bought because we were moving into a basement flat and anticipated dampness- however it has not been, so main use has been helping to dry clothes – until now where a leak from upstairs has cause really bad staining and mould to grow- this little dehumidifier has been great at sucking 12 L of water from the air every 12 hours or so and has made a marked difference on the damaged wall.
Highly recommend.
Having had issues with damp and mould in our previous flat, when my partner and I moved into our new house with an internal bathroom (no windows, only an extractor fan) we wanted to minimise the risk of any more mould or damp issues.
This unit came in at about the right price, with the large tank and built in humidistat really selling it compared to some of the other cheap models. We have ours on the landing just outside our bathroom, and leave it on set to 50% all the time on the lower fan speed setting. It flicks on and off every hour or so just keeping the air free from excess humidity. From the bedroom or the living room, you can hear only a quiet hum which isn’t too intrusive.
After showers, we open the bathroom door, turn up the fan speed, and force it to run continuously using the 2 hour timer option. It really shines here, eliminating condensation from the bathroom within minutes, and dries our towels which we hang over the banisters in only a few hours. With laundry which we air on the landing, it also does an amazing job, drying them within a day which is a lot quicker than the two or three days it used to take at our flat.
The only thing that stops this from being a perfect product is the occasional glitches with the humidistat, where it will either trigger the unit to come on when the humidity hasn’t risen above the target, or it will keep running for a long while after it has fallen below the target. Minor complaints. but I’d rather not be using extra energy when it isn’t needed.
In conclusion though, I’m really pleased with this dehumidifier. It keeps humidity in the house under control, and so far we have had no observable damp or mould to deal with so it’s certainly doing its job as a preventative measure – and much better than the far smaller moisture traps you can get from the supermarket. I definitely recommend this product for use in your home to keep moisture levels under control, especially in homes with internal bathrooms.
Has been working solidly for months now, happily running constantly (with a drain hose) for weeks at a time.
Pulls a good deal of moisture out of the air – more than enough for a standard room – mine’s been slowly drying out a basement pulling out 3L a day most days.
This is perfect for my house. Worth the money. The laundry setting means my washing dries overnight using an indoor clothes rack. It has two speed settings as the higher one can be a bit noisy with the TV on in the same room. I’ve found it very effective….and scary how much moisture can build up in your house.
Excellent product. Fairly quiet and runs as and when required, after sensing the humidity in the air. Easy to follow instructions and clear humidity display. Amazing how much damp it has eliminated. Simple to empty the tank and the lead is long enough to reach the socket about 5.5 feet away. Mine is in the garage, and I did make the mistake in the very cold weather of allowing it to freeze at the back! (There is a warning to avoid this!) I just placed a small fan heater behind it for 30 minutes and it all thawed. I emptied the tank and normal service resumed quickly! Good value for money, very pleased.
We had a big problem in a small bungalow with lots of condensation/damp/mold. We used 2 of these units and problem solved. We can dry washing, cook, etc., and no more condensation and no more black mold or mildew. Works happily on automatic and seems to monitor humidity accurately (We used a separate humidity meter to check).
its the first time we have bought a dehumidifier, the kitchen is a open plan one including back room and front room,so all the windows plus patio doors were always steaming up which caused condensation and you could not see out. So we checked into this machine and others and bought this one. Its fantastic its on wheels great to move around bit heavy when lifting not to heavy instructions are clear, 2 years extra warranty. We are really happy with this.
It collects a lot of water so is obviously a fine product; my only gripe would be that when the reading is set to (for example) 50%, it stays on for quite a while after. The instructions say that it cycles the air once the reading is matched to the set humidity; but it never seems to go off. Sometimes it will reach 45% when set to 50%, and yet will stay on. Sometimes it goes off for five minutes and then it is back on again. We have a house that requires a dehumidifier so I expect it to be on quite often, but not every off for five minutes and then back on again for a prolonged period of time. To counteract this we have had to use a timer-plug so that it is only on at certain periods of time because I’m concerned that instead of high humidity, we’ll have a sky high electricity bill. The product has a two hour and four hour feature; but it would be preferable to allow it to work over an 8 hour period, on and off, ie on for one hour, off for an hour during night time. On for four and off for four isn’t really any benefit.
Having reviewed several options to reduce the humidity and damp in our flat, I went with the EcoAir DC12. There are a plethora of devices on the market, both passive and active. The difference really comes down the speed at which the device can extract moisture from the air, the level of control you have over the settings, robustness and filtration levels. So how does this rate? Very well. We have a 2 bedroom flat and the windows were almost completely covered in condensation. Wiping them down or opening the windows worked okay, but the air was still very humid and a quick google on humidity levels will show you this isn’t a healthy way to live whilst indoors. This unit works very quickly. Upon switching it on, the device showed an 80% humidity level. Given that humidity monitors can run into the 1,000’s it’s probably a rough estimate. Even so within 30 mins, the first trickles of water poured into the catchment tray and within 90 mins the humidity levels fell to 50%. You could tangibly feel the difference in the air quality and we were able to reduce the thermostat by 2 degrees C. So, despite this unit using energy, it’s probably already paying for itself. The unit feels robust and is easy to use. Noise levels are similar to an oven fan running. Neither is quiet, but on the lowest setting its mostly unobtrusive, the higher setting sounds like a normal desk fan running and is quite obvious. We set the device to run for 2hrs each day, which does a good job of keeping the humidity down and the windows clear. Overall this seems a great device and relatively inexpensive when considering the improvements it has made to the air quality. My only gripe is it doesn’t seem to be able to get the humidity level down below 50%, but given how humid the flat gets, I suspect any device would struggle and even at 50% things feel so much better. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone else in the same situation.
I use it from about year and half, 8h every day. My yearly bills for gas and electricity drops down about 450 !!! For 2 bedroom flat. And I have 2 of them running 8h each. Unbelievable but true. Air in my apartment is so much better. I don’t neeed to heat as much as before and have windows constantly open to get rid of the humidity. I had constantly problem with water condensation on windows and in the room corners. It all disappeared. It is a fantastic machine and hopefully not, but if something happens with the one I use now I will buy a new one the same day no matter the price.
I only wish I had bough it sooner! It is giving a great service and removing a surprising amount of water from our rooms. I specially like the hose feature, so that it can run for longer. I only wish that the top handles were deeper, so that you could insert your hands further inside to hold the dehumidifier more safely. I am afraid of dropping it.
We get quite a bit of damp in our house, and we get mould growing in some of the rooms, especially in the shower room.
I wasnt too sure about this at first as it seemed to constantly be on (I was thinking about our electricity bill), but it was getting a lot of moisture of the air so left it for about 3 weeks to see what would happen. Now the machine turns on very rarely as its taken out most of the moisture.
We have noticed a massive difference in the mould in the house especially around the windows. We have a Nest Thermostat in the house which is close to where the dehumidifier is, this reports a similar humidity level as the dehumidifier states.
Would definitely recommend if you have mould in the house or a lot of condensation on the windows.
Works a charm, especially if you put it in a room and shut the door, we leave ours on constant the whole time and it brings the rooms down to 50% humidity, occasionally 45%, but I’ve never seen it go below this. My only gripe is the lead could be a bit longer, but we’ve put ours on a small extension lead and alternate rooms/hallway with it. Also when the water tank fills up it beeps 5 or 6 times quite loudly which is pretty annoying as we leave it on overnight, but I’m just more vigilant in emptying before I go to bed now. Despite that I’m happy, we used to have a DeLongi Dem10 one which was really chunky and heavy, this unit has wheels and is a lot slimmer and overall better looking.
We were at our wits end with a mould infested bathroom,
Mould was everywhere, floor, ceilings, walls, even on chair and bottles of shampoo etc,
We tried everything, heaters, new fan in ceiling, opening windows and doors etc etc
Then we got this dehumidifier and am astonished at the difference in the bathroom, We don’t even have this on all the time but the amount of water it is sucking out of the air is amazing. It is doing a great job, recommend to all.
Absolutely brilliant stopped my mood issues on wall and no longer get wet windows in morning. Leave on 12 hours a day. I have a wine bedroom flat with main issue in front room and bedroom. Leave it in hallway on 12 hours a day. Now solved my issue of black marks on walls and gunk on window frames.
We’ve used this a lot to help with our old house in Scotland.
This would probably work better in a warmer location.
Its been useful to have. I think we just had slightly higher expectations of its impact.
It would be interesting to compare it to a dessicant-based model.
I bought this to dehumidify the air to prevent house dust mites flourishing: they need a moist atmosphere to live since they don’t drink. The dehumidifier works really well – taking litres of water out of the air. It slightly warms the air too, which is lovely. It doesn’t make a lot of noise, but I do switch it off during the night. It’s much better than the Klarstein I bought at the same time.
Sleek looking and great performance. We had looked at so many reviews and even been to seem dehumidifiers in stores. We finally decided on this based on features and price.
It’s really quiet and has lots of adjustability for your desired humidity and run times. We generally run it for 2 hours in the evening and 2 hours in the morning when we have clothes drying in the spare bedroom.
THIS REALLY TRUELY WORKS – I HAVE USED IT DURING WASHING DAY AND ALSO IN A COLD BEDROOM AND EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN NOT SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING IN THE ROOM AS REGARDS TO MOISTURE; AFTER FOUR HOURS THE CONTAINER WAS FULL OF WATER COLLECTED – AMAZING
I RECENTLY WAS GETTING BLACK MOULD ON THE WINDOWS AND REGULARLY HAD TO CLEAN AND THIS DE-HUMIDIFIER IS A GREAT IDEA
WELL DONE
Have to say that this has proved it’s effectiveness from day one. It’s easy to use and the instructions are clear and straightforward, and the controls on the top of the machine couldn’t be more simple.
I set the humidity to 40% and left the unit on low fan speed for four hours, just to see how it would perform. The unit displays the current humidity to the nearest 5% and this matched a separate meter (55% vs 57%) that I had placed in the same room. After four hours, the room was down to 40% (or 43% on the separate meter) and there was a surprising amount of water in the tank.
The unit is quite heavy, but it moves easily on the small castors. You can certainly hear it when it’s on, although I wouldn’t call it loud, probably comparable to a fan.
Bought for my daughter who lives in a 3 bedroomed mid terraced in Altrincham.
She has had slight condensation problems in the past, but, since having a child with all the extra washing that that entails, she has had increasing problems. She uses a Lakeland airer/dryer which is on overnight.
This little beauty has brought everything back under control – it’s on overnight and during the day, when required, is not noisy and is very efficient keeping the whole house dry.
This is brilliant. We have ours running two hours every evening after baths and showers and it clears the steam really quickly. We have a two bed bungalow with another bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Our upstairs bathroom is always damp this time of year but this dehumidifier does the job. We have ours in the lounge which is the most central room and it deals with the whole house. We have it set for the two hour run but can probably turn it off after about an hour. It has a special function to use when you have washing hanging up to dry indoors to keep moisture contained. It really is a good thing to have.
Huge difference in our house after less than a week.
I think it’s important to point out one fact about dehumidifiers as there a lot of nay sayers who do not understand basic physics. Without even considering damp and mildew issues – increased humidity has the effect of making your house feel colder. Fact. Using a dehumidifier is part of the overall energy equation of your house. Indeed – my suspicion is that our energy bills will now come down overall because we are now using significantly less heating oil to warm our much dryer house up. It now feels warm without the heating on. I’m going to buy at least one more dehumidifying unit with this in mind.
With no extractor fan in our bathroom we bought this to combat the growth of mould. Has done a great job of dramatically slowing its growth. Fills the removable water bucket twice a day in our house. As someone who likes quiet when falling asleep I’d struggle to have this humming away in the bedroom, but it’s fine in the bathroom next door.
This changed everything in the house – the damp was COMPLETELY eradicated. I got litres almost daily out of the house, so ended up putting one at each of the old cottage, and the smell disappeared nearly overnight, and before using them, there was damp on walls, and it stunk of damp. An amazing machine. Highly recommend.
Nice solid piece of machine. I decided to return it though after 2 days as it wasn’t suitable for my needs. The return process was impeccable and received a refund promptly. One thing i should note is that its not very quiet to have it operating while you are in the same room (even in the low fan mode), but it definitely does the job while you are away or in another room.
My previous ecoair had to be retired after 3+ years and I needed an urgent replacement. This new model is much heavier but I like the digital display and stronger dehumidifying power. Excellent next day delivery by Amazon as per usual.
I use this mainly in the bathroom but leaving it in the hallway outside the bathroom has allowed my entire flat to be dry and much warmer.
Not sure how much it’s going to affect my electricity bill but I don’t think I’ll need the heating on anytime soon with this on!
This has been essential in our studio which, due to the old building and design, functions like a greenhouse. It gets so humid everyday and we were starting to have problems, but now this little guy keeps us dry. When we place it next to drying laundry, it removes all the water very quickly. I was surprised at how well this thing works. We pull two full tanks of water out the air every day.
I used this in our bedroom where in the winter condensation drips from the ceiling. It works, dry ceiling and windows and water in the tub at the bottom.
Two downsides, it’s loud. The lower of the two settings is still loud and I know some people will find it difficult to sleep through. Second, the tub feels slightly flimsy when emptying, small problem granted.
I really like how you can set the humidity and it will turn itself off and on to stay at that set humidity. Not sure how accurate it is but it seem to work ok.
All things considered, I’d definitely recommend and buy again.
The machine does a great job.
The build quality is very good and I was suprised how much water it managed to collect.
Would have given it 5 stars but for the fact that it’s not quiet.
If you have the money and want a proper dehumidifier then this will do a job for you.
Very good construction looks well designed and modern with a solid clunky feel. Make no mistake here this a solid machine no flimsy plastic here whatsoever.
Noise wise is no louder than a medium fan running in your room, my wife and I can sleep with it on but may not be to everyone’s level of noise.
Extracts alot of water from our room so is obviously doing it’s job well. Can’t ask for more!
We essentially live in a static caravan and for a couple of years my dear wife has suffered a bad cough at night, she doesn’t smoke by the way, then someone mentioned that a dehumidifier might help, all the usual medical checks had already been made.
After a bit of research I bought this unit and we haven’t looked back, the cough is gone (we keep windows open by the way so there was plenty of air changes)
We use this unit at night when there is high humidity and the unit can be set to run for 2 or 4 hours or constantly to a pre set humidity level.
The amount of water it takes from the air is amazing, but this has a 3 litre tank capacity or could be run out to drain, an adapter is provided
Would thoroughly recommend
I think this has been a good purchase. Decent built device with simple instructions. We are living in an old victorian building where the humidity occasionally reaches over 80%. Started of with a small dehumidifier but that barely made a difference. With this device we easily get it down to 55-65%. It collects a few litres a day. Only downside is that the room quickly gets damp again and the machine pretty much needs to run non stop to keep up. It would be too noisy for during the night. Hope the electricity bill will not be too high. However it does compensate somewhat in the room temperature. Less humidity equals a warmer home.
I researched and researched read hundreds of reviews on all diff types of dehumidifier s and for the price and performance this is the 1. Looks neat, easy to use, pulls water out the air very good. I use it in a smallish room so I can’t say about how good a job would be on large house but for my needs it’s perfect. Not that loud either.
Very effective. Runs well on a timer plug. Solved mould issue in a 6mx6m room within a week running for 6hours a day. Now run for 3hours per day during winter filling tank every 3days and keeps mould at bay
Quite a big item so make sure you pay attention to the sizing so that you have a place to put it. However, it is reasonably portable. It comes on wheels to move around if needed as well. There is a timer mechanism which I find very handy as well. While there is a humidity indicator on the device I bought a cheap separate humidity monitor to monitor the impact of the dehumidifier in various parts of the kitchen. It also helps with getting an optimal position so that it has the biggest impact.
I have it in my kitchen which, in winter, is prone to excessive humidity and so mould can start to creep into corners and such like. This dehumidifier has done a good job of reducing the amount of humidity in the kitchen when in use and there has been a huge reduction in mould appearing now. So very happy with the product.
Easy to remove the water catchment tray and throw the water away. It is quite interesting to see how much water is actually extracted from the air.
I usually mainly when drying my laundry at home. It absorbs a loooot of water. I don’t give it 5 stats because it’s a little heavy/big. It’s quite classy though for a dehumidifie
Shifts an impressive (and worrying!) amount of moisture from the air, especially when drying clothes. It’s scary to think how much of that was in the air we were breathing and most likely contributing to damp issues in the house. We use this during the winter when drying clothes inside and cooking and it does a great job.
Absolutely amazing product! We had new windows installed which caused the moisture in the house to build up and we started noticing mould forming on our ceilings and condensation on the inside of our windows. Once the dehumidifier arrived we started turning it on for an hour every morning when we woke up – problem solved! No more condensation or mould anywhere despite the dehumidifier being in one room of the house! It even has a functions for drying clothes and removes all moisture from the bathroom after a shower.
This has literally saved us thousands of pounds.
We’d been having serious problems with condensation on our conservatory windows since moving into our house, so much so that window sills would have puddles of water. This has stopped that since the first time we used it, no need for expensive damp coursing now.
Our conservatory is 18ft by 16ft and 12ft high at its highest point. This dehumidifier handles it easily.
This is a great machine, dealt with the black mould staining in just a few days. Now we use it after the daily shower, placing it in the bathroom. As we live in a flat with no outdoor space the ‘dry washing’ function is excellent. The display window is good, clearly tells you what you want, and the water collector comes out easily to empty. The wheels move smoothly, even on carpet, to move it around. Don’t think I’d be happy taking it up and down stairs.
This is brilliant. I live in a loft-conversion flat which has an unheated, unventilated bathroom and kitchen (lucky me, I know) which are both prone to damp. I run this for about half an hour in each room (or an hour if I’ve showered or cooked things that steam) and they’re completely dry and warm after that. It slightly warms the air as it dries it.
I also dry clothes indoors in winter, with all the windows closed. This beast can suck the moisture out of a full wash of bathtowels within 4 hours.
The timer is extremely useful. I’m on economy 7 power so I run this on constant at night, and in 4 hour blocks as needed during the day. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to a friend, but there’s no way I would lend it! 🙂
It’s extremely quiet (barely noticeable) on low-power setting, and makes a pleasant (to my ears) white noise sound on full. If it’s on the other side of a door you won’t hear it.
The only improvements you could make would be possibly a longer cable – it’s about 2m but as the fan vents are on the back, you’ll want to turn the unit round to point it at your washing which takes up a little of the cable length. A delay timer would be an excellent addition for people on economy 7, but I suppose you could always add one at the wall socket if you wanted.
I haven’t noticed much difference in my electricity bill since buying it, if anything I’ve used less power as it’s much easier to heat a dry space so I haven’t had to resort to using fan heaters etc.
The dehumidifier does a wonderful job. I bought it as a present for my parents because they had huge problems with the mould in the kitchen area, had to change the furniture there twice in the last 2 years. They are using it on a regular basis and the mould disappeared, no more water on the walls either. It is very easy to use with the drainage option and the noise it’s acceptable. They really love it, thank you.
We had a condensation problem in our bedroom, and had used disposable moisture traps, they collected little bit of the moisture, but nothing prepared me for the amount this would collect, it regularly sucks up 2-3 litres a day in the cold weather.
I find the unit too noisy to run during the night, even on the quiet low speed setting, (with earplugs in), Also you cannot program the unit to come on a set times, or when moisture reaches a certain level which is a little restrictive.
Initially I thought it was overkill for drying out the bathroom, as it had bad condensation during the winter months, but now I think it’s one of the most useful items for combating the damp and mould in the bathroom. They haven’t returned and it is astonishing how much water it extracts from the room. Its not silent, but you do get used to it, plus it has a timer, which can turn off the machine after a couple of hours when it’s done it’s job. As it’s portable it gets used in other rooms from time to time, to make sure the room isn’t damp. Highly recommended if you can afford it.
My research confirmed this model as a best buy in refrigerant dehumidifiers. Great design with a quality feel about it, and is also very simple to operate.
Located upstairs on a landing to reduce moisture from a shower room and a bathroom. It often collects over a litre of water in a few hours.
Can’t believe how much moisture is just in the air. We put it on timer in the morning and again at night both for the 4 hour setting. It’s just amazing how quickly the tank fills up. Our windows are clear now and not running with condensation. Really pleased with it. We have just bought another one but with the larger tank for our daughter .
Delighted with my new dehumidifier. The old one died after about 15 years of faithful service keeping my cellar/workshop useable. The replacement one looks good, easy to use and keeps the cellar dry enough for use. Very helpful warning light that the filter needs cleaning. And the filter is easily removed and washed/brushed. Water container, with the machine in more or less continuous use, needs emptying once every day or so during winter.
Hope it lasts as long as my last one!
Very good device. Removes water efficiently so not too costly to use. I have found it useful to run it through a stand alone watt hour metre just to keep an eye on my monthly usage but running it for 12 hours a day costs me about 10 a month this time of year. I tend to use it in a cold bedroom where there is a lot of condensation on the double glazed windows on these cold mornings.
It extracts plenty of water from our small flat which we hang our wet clothes in to dry – it is surprising the amount of water that it extracts. For a small flat it works a treat. Can’t advise if relatively loud compared to other de-humidifiers as only one I have had, but we don’t put it on overnight in our smal flat as it is a bit too loud. In my opinion, it is fine to have on during the day if in the room, with two settings for full or half power. I wouldn’t want it on if watching a movie but it’s ok if regular television is on.
Good value for money as it does the job for us. Very happy with the purchase. Rated 4/5 as premium dehumidifiers likely to be a slight bit quieter and even more effective but great value and effective product.
works very well, and keeps the humidity in my room at around 42% when set to 40%. I have to empty the collector every 2 days, and it could be quieter, but the timer functions works well for letting you turn it off when going to bed, but have it turn back on in the night so the room isnt damp when you wake up.
We live in damp and rainy cornwall where a dehumidifier is essential in many homes, especially since double glazing and better roof and wall insulation and being out working mean the house doesn’t get to breathe enough.
We had our previous one for years but it wasn’t doing much so I read around and settled on this one.
It’s exactly what we need. We can set the desired humidity level (and view the current level) put the fans on high or low and either use the internal tank to store water (and cut out once full) or attach the continuous flow pipe if you have a way to drain it.
Already were getting more water out of the air every two hours than we were in a day with our old one, just what we needed.
For us this is a good and affordable option for an essential device.
Had this unit for 12 months now to combat condensation from a large fish tank. It’s on 24/7 and so far has performed very well and saved my house from rotting from the inside out. The permanent drain is not very well designed, but l’ve been emptying the collection tank every few days. Feels like a very good purchase so far.
I was pretty skeptical to buying a dehumidifier at first as i didnt think we would need it. We already had two of them unibond things (they’re crap) and didnt think we’d need it. Once we had bought it however, i couldnt believe how much moisture is in the air! This beauty of a machine does a a great job. It has a display on top of the unit to see what level the humidity is at in the place. You can adjust it according to what you want. There is also a laundry option, which in my opinion isn’t actually needed but there’s only two of us so who knows for a family. Has a big tank to collect all the water in which is useful if leaving it constantly on. There is a 2hr and 4hr timer on this which in the 2 months we’ve had it we’ve used only twice. It does not use that much electricity which is ideal. It has a high and low option for how powerful you want it to work which is great when theres high levels of moisture in the air. Lastly it helps with keeping on top of your asthma (i am a sufferer) and i have noticed i am not using my inhalers as much, so it has health benefits too!
The one downside is that the humidity level on top only works in 5’s so we had to buy separate hygrometer to see what the actual humidity was. Apart from that i would highly recommend this product as it works great. I dont know why i didn’t think about getting this sooner!
