Ecoair DD1 Classic MK5 Desiccant Dehumidifier
The Ecoair DD1 started their enhancements in dehumidifiers, setting the benchmark for home desiccant dehumidifiers for years. Ecoair, relentless in their search for a formula to reduce wastage and save energy, brings you E7 Technology and 3-D Louvre to your DD122 MK5.
3D–Louvre
Channels airflow over a wide area or targeted spot to optimise efficiency when the need arises. Use the wide channel to improve even distribution and the spot channel to pinpoint problem areas like a mould growth on the wall.
ECO E7 Technology
Multiple algorithms operating in parallel to manage power, temperature and humidity to optimise performance and save energy usage.
Auto Toggle Power Saver
The Eco E7 Technology has the power to do many things with your DD1 MK5. It senses the ambient temperature and humidity level and automatically toggles between the full power, economy power and standby modes. This function can reduce your energy consumption. DD1 MK5 has a built-in auto sensor that continually detects your air humidity. It knows when to toggle the dehumidification requirements. This ensures that the humidity level is under control and that you only use your electricity when absolutely necessary according to the mode you have selected.
Overdry Protection
Using any dehumidifier at High Modes or Laundry Mode over long durations can cause unnecessarily over-dry ambient air. The good news is that the DD1 MK5 knows when to toggle the dehumidification process when the air gets too dry.

The machine was smaller than I thought it would be so was a bit worried but when I started to use it I was amazed. The thing just sucks water out of our house. We were having issues with damp and black mould after a bit of a flood from a bay window and at another corner with a leaking gutter, the mould growth has halted. Having 3 young children pretty much ever night is bath night and the fan in the bathroom can’t seem to cope and again mould was forming, but not anymore. I did a lot of looking about and reading reviews until I finally said sod it and just bought this one and so glad I did. It is not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. It has been running pretty much none stop for the last few weeks without an issue. I was really starting to worry about the damp and mould in the house, with black mould spores said to be cacogenic but this compact little unit has saved the day. Only down side is that on warm days, the warm air from the unit can make the house a tad hot.

I hate condensation on my windows – it drives me nuts.
I read reviews about this product, that weren’t actually that great.
Many people said this product stopped working after 3-6 months and most people said they had issues within 12 months.
I’m now well into my second year with this product and I have it on 4 hours every night on full mode from October until March, and it still works like a dream.
The great thing about this is, it gives off warm air AND it works in cold cold tempaeratures where other dehumidifiers do not – THAT IS KEY.
This products ability to work into low temperatures means it works when other dehimdifiers will not and removes more moisture from the air.
I no longer get condensation on my windows or anywhere else in the house.
This product is noisy and your sleep will get disturbed even in “eco mode”
I am surprised I havent wore this product out yet, but when I do I will buy another, money well spent and money I will eventually spend on again when I finally wear this one out.
Purchased on 28 Jan 2014 and working as should. We are using it on daily basis. Heavy black mould used to build up every 2 month around the windows (Irish weather) during autumn-winter-spring that had to be dealt with using anti-mould sprays and cleaning. Since using this dehumidifier I’ve only had to clean around the windows once and the mould buildup was only minor. Very handy with drying clothes too. On the other hand it might not be suitable in itself for larger apartments, this is one bad only. Also we are trying to open the windows more when the weather is dry and always keep the bathroom fan running until visible water vapour is gone. Also using the controls smart way, like “auto” during night (sleeping in different room) but low daytime when we are around helps to minimise annoyance and power consumption. We can easily watch movies, have conversation, work or read few meters from the machine in low setting, it’s very quiet. In high setting i wouldn’t try to really relax, but for normal activities it’s okay sometimes.

Bought this for saturated windows in a rental property and it’s made a big difference to how we keeping condensation at bay over the winter months.
The property is small (a late 80’s build one bedroom cluster home) but running the dehumidifier at night for 2 or sometimes 4 hours as required has made a big difference to keeping otherwise condensation saturated double glazed windows and resulting mold growth at day over the winter period. Allergies have reduced and the overuse of an expensive to run and dated central heating system has been minimised. Have only ever run the dehumidifier in eco mode and that’s perfectly effective and the hit on the electricity bill with night rate usage has been minimal.
Criticisms are confined to the fixed period timed shutdown feature where 2,4 and 8 hours are all you get. Some greater customisation would have been welcome. Item is reasonably quiet though once in a while goes through periods of greater rattling that are hard to pinpoint the reason for but that’s a minor quibble.
In summary the EcoAir achieves the desired result in a quicker and more efficient rate than our previous experiences with a compressor type dehumidifier and is smaller, lighter, quieter and more portable to boot.
I bought this in November 2014, and at time of writing it is now Mid March 2015. I am happy to say that over the winter I have been highly satisfied with this product – as my title says, I have not had one cough or cold, as I think this can be exacerbated by damp. I love the ioniser as it makes the air smell good. The original reason for purchase was because mildew was appearing on my sea-grass flooring. As it was a natural product floor, I was rather concerned that I would have to replace the entire carpet. Living in an old building & on the coast, I was concerned too about the potential winter health hasard of having mildew inside my flat! The problem has completely cleared! I also use the dehumidifier when I wish to have laundry dried quicker than usual. On the higher settings it provides heat, although when in the same room it can become quite stifling! I left it often on the lowest setting overnight, and after a little bit of getting used to, it was perfectly possible to sleep with it on. The blue light also took a little bit of getting used to.
3 months after my 6 month review it died… for no apparent reason the unit just stopped working, the filters had been cleaned regularly so no idea as to the cause. Returned to Amazon for full refund.
I’ve been running this in my integral single garage for ~6 months now, through the wettest period of the year – it’s kept the garage at a steady 50% RH, keeping my tools rust free. The ability to function at low temperature combined with the small amount of background heat produced makes this perfect for garage, caravan and boat use. I hope it continues to work reliably, time will be the judge – if it fails I’ll be back to update my comments!
absolutely brilliant dehumidifier works perfectly and does as you would expect, it has helped alleviate a recurring problem of damp and mould spreading from the top, bottoms and corners in our household.
It is astonishing just how much moisture this machine collects from the air, its no surprise that britains houses suffer with mould problems when you see just how much this little machine can collect.
Aside from its obvious uses its also very good at drying washing as well so its handy to have one around for when winters here.
It can get noisy on the higher settings but for just general use the much quieter low setting is sufficient so sound shouldn’t be an issue its no different to having a normal fan running.
The quality of materials and the build quality of this dehumidifier are top notch, it is a very well made machine that i will hopefully get years of use out of
This works wonderfully, takes loads of water out of the air. I got a compressor (condensing) dehumidifier at the same time, which also does its job, but we’re much more impressed with the performance of this one, it is more efficient and collects more water in the same time. I think that is because they can work well in any temperature whereas a condensing one needs warmer air to really be effective, so in winter if your house isn’t always toasty, this is the better choice, it has been for us, we’re very pleased with it’s performance, worth paying a bit more for. It’s very compact, light, modern in design, looks good, not a huge collection tank so needs emptying frequently, the continuous drainage is a good feature but the pipe ought to be longer so it can be positioned where you want it, not just near where it can be drained. It’s quite noisy, that’s not a problem, not so noisy that you can’t talk over it and we know it’s doing a good job drying out our old damp house and cleaning the air. A good buy, great quality machine.
Bought this along with the humidity meter. The humidity is my lounge initially was around 80%!! Since using the dehumidifier the relative humidity is usually between 50%-60%. The air feels so much fresher as well by using the ioniser setting. My flat is so much warmer as well and I am finding that I don’t need to turn on the heating as much. The clothes drying setting is amazing, dries my clothes within around 4 hours! I can’t believe how much water this dehumidifier has already extracted since I bought it. It’s so quiet as well. Also, before I bought this I was having to clean around my windows weekly because of mould. I haven’t had to clean them again for nearly a month and no mould! Very impressed!!

This item met and exceeded all expectations. The build quality is fantastic with a very simple user interface.
We have a 1920s english detached house suffering from damp/condensation on the colder walls and around the windows upstairs. The culprit: moisture from laundry drying on radiators and lack of extractor fan in the small bathroom.
We used the ecoair 8 hours a day for 2 weeks placed in a central location where the air could be pulled in from all the affected rooms. The ecoair’s auto mode worked wonders; remaining on full power for the first few days then switching to low power once the air humidity dropped to acceptable levels. The ioniser gives the fanned air a neutral, clean oder which is a very nice feature.
Energy wise in dehumidify mode this thing hardly uses electricity. An 8 hour stint on eco mode costs us no more than 50p a day. In laundry drying mode, which we used for drying out the small bathroom, more electricity was used: Approx 1 – 1.50. Not suprising but very effective too. Only required for 2 or 3 days for us.
We’ve had no more damp this winter and we intend to clear the rest of the house too. We will then run it once or twice a quarter to mantain a normal humidity. Highly recommended.
We had a very damp bedroom in our house for a number of weeks. Eventually this was traced to be a missing capping tile on the roof which we had replaced. In the meantime the rain had deposited what must be several litres of water onto the roof felt which has made its way into the walls and plasterboard ceiling. Despite getting to roof fixed we had a relative humidity of around 67% in the room and lots of mould growth and condensation on the windows which is why we bought the EcoAir ECO DD122. The dehumidifier is a well built and stylish piece of equipment with easy to use controls. The water tray holds two litres which initially in our damp conditions needed emptying every day. Don’t worry though as there is an automatic cut off when the tray is full so no risk of overflowing. After only three days operation at the economy setting the house is at a steady 49% humidity and the device only comes on a couple of times a day when it senses any upward change in humidity. Once it maintains that it shuts off again. We are very pleased with the EcoAir ECO DD122 and will be ordering another one for our son whose home suffers from extreme condensation.
my house suffers with condensation due to only having singled windows – this product soaks it up.
I’ve also got a small leak around a chimney this soaks the damp up in very wet weather very quickly.
Also in wet weather when you can’t put washing out on a line – if you put the washing on a rack & use the special washing setting it dries the clothes extremely quick & efficently.
some people say it’s very noisy – generally we’ve found it’s quite quiet but occassionaly for a short time the fan goes on super power – that’s the only time we’ve found it rather noisy but it soon switches back to normal setting again.
build quality appears very good and we’re very happy with this produc
I like it .. and it does what it says. The water it pulls out of the air is amazing.
I just wish I had paid a little more and got one with a built in humidity monitor … I definately need to buy one as I don’t really understand whether I am putting it on the correct settings.
The atmospher in my home is now so much warmer and the air seems lighter, the central heating works on the thermostat now and goes on and off … where as before it never switched off and that very heavy cold feeling was always there.
I leave the dehumidifier switched on so it can switch itself on and off ( doesn’t go on very much now, mainly on a morning ) .. people keep telling me it will costs money to run this product in electricity .. but in my estimation it will save me so much more in gas as I now have efficiant and effect central heating.
Really nice piece of hardware.
I have a 1 bedroom flat which was having issues with condensation forming on the windows, and mould growing on the walls. Step 1 was to remove all the mould manually. Once that was done, I set the dehumidifier loose on the flat – it’s easily pulling out 1.5 litres of water every day, and could easily pull more – I have to keep it turned quite low to avoid getting chapped lips in the mornings.
Exceptionally quiet for a dehumidifier – the extractor fan from my bathroom drowns out the noise.
Only minor issue is that you need to have a reasonable amount of clearance around it – instructions recommend 20cm all round the unit. This means that you will not be able to keep it in a closet, for example – but that will be the same for all such devices.

This is the second dehumidifer I have purchased, the other one is a Delonghi DES12. I thought the Delonghi was good but this is even better. Lighter and more portable and works faster at removing water even though the comparable capacities suggest this is less powerful. The cleaning element also works well – especially notable in the bathroom. Being able to direct the air jet is a bonus for drying washing hanging indoors. Have used this daily since purchase and very happy so far. It is also quieter than the Delonghi but cannot be placed directly against a wall as it needs at least 20cm distance – although this has caused no issues for me. If it lasts at least a few years it will be an excellent purchase.

Arrived yesterday, speedy delivery. I had forward ordered a humidity gauge from Amazon for a few quid and before the Eco arrived we had 68% HR. We live in a semi rural area, in a 2 bed detached bungalow that has A rated double glazing and cavity wall insulation. However when it gets in the minus figures outside we do get a about 3 inches of condensation on the bottom of the windows and there is a damp patch by a window in the lounge, not massive it doesn’t smell but enough to bleach off every few weeks.
So onto the Eco, seems sturdy, looks good, loving the blue night light feature, and yes the lead could be longer but we have it on an extension lead.
So plugged it in last night at 7pm and just put in on the eco mode…2.5hrs later I couldn’t resist and looked in the drawer expecting to see maybe a trickle of water, it was nearly a quarter full!!! I was amazed how much water was in there. So I emptied it out and when we went to bed left it on in the hallway on the 4 hr timer. This morning the drawer was half full, again I was amazed! Its not evan freezing cold out with condensation on the windows yet! I can’t wait to see what it does then..how sad am I.
Its just brilliant. On the low setting its just a background hum, not intrusive, but on the auto setting its quite noisey just like having your heater on in the car full blast. I don’t feel the need to use it like that the eco setting is fine.
I do have a tumble dryer so I don’t know whether it would work out any cheaper to use the eco to dry the clothes.
Having just read and worked out the electric for exactly 24hrs since I first got the Eco, using it for approx 8 hrs with all the other electric appliances total 1.50 used. I will check again tomorrow and for about a week, but once the HR is down to 50% it won’t be on that much only maybe 4 hours through the night or longer if frost is expected.
There is a slight smell but nothing off putting to be honest.
I purchased this as a Luke new item, it was obviously just a return so saved a bit of money. Don’t be out off by the warehouse deals.
Our house has suffered with damp and condensation for a long time now, and with a 2 year old boy, black mould and peeling wallpaper has not been the best of houses to raise him up in.
We have tried moisture traps, leaving windows open nothing worked.
We always had to have the heating on full blast and even then it didn’t warm the house up, we had to wear jumpers just to keep warm,
Having had the ecoair in operation for 2 days now the changes are amazing, no more jumpers to keep warm, even in the morning its warm enough to not wear them.
Heating had also been turned down 20% so this should offset the cost of the dehumidifier.
The dehumidifier is a fabulous piece of kit. Sucked so much water out the air, got the humidity down from 65–70% to round about 54%
Was disappointed this doesn’t have a 2/4/8 hour timer, like I thought it had, but I can live without the feature.
Seriously shoppers don’t hesitate to buy this item, it may not have the same features of its bigger brother but it can certainly hold its own in a crowded market.

Brilliant machine. Well constructed, runs fairly quietly (can be used in a bedroom over night on half speed). The hose for constant use is great as we never have to worry about it switching off due to a full water tank.
Machine is surprisingly small, much smaller than we anticipated and fits nicely on a work surface near to a sink for water exit. Basically it’s not an eyesore.
The quality of construction shines through, instructions for use are easy to read and can be read / understood and the machine in use within minutes. Well packaged and arrived exactly on time.
Really recommend this machine, it has already made an incredible difference in the bedroom where we have it, the machine is just left to it’s own devices and it switches itself on/off as necessary. The amount of water it removes is really surprising and because of its ‘silver’ filter the air is also cleaned.
Also comes with a 2 year guarantee.
I have set it up on the landing to operate over night during the winter months to take that bit of extra moisture out of the air. It mostly eliminates the condensation on the windows in the mornings – except when I leave our door closed all night.
I admit I got a little confused over all the model descriptions and was expecting this one to have a timer that would start it up during the night after we had gone to sleep. It has a shut-off ‘timer’ so you can set it going for 2, 4 or 8 hrs. Not quite what I wanted. Although it is quite quiet, my wife didn’t want any noise at all, so would have been good to be able to start it after we were asleep.
As I say, my mistake.
The unit works nicely and doesn’t take up much room. Easily carried it down to the conservatory on Christmas Eve to take out moisture overnight prior to using the room for hosting the festivities. It extracted quite a lot of water so helped make the room feel more comfortable.

Living in an old Victoran house now fitted with uPVC windows and doors we suffer from damp problems every winter. I spent quite a lot of time researching dehumidifiers and was gong to buy the next model up – the mk5 classic. But when this wasn’t in stock I opted for the ‘Simple’. I’ve had it about two weeks now and it is truly amazing. Within half an hour of use it had extracted a cupful of water. Left overnight on a medium setting the tank is a third full. The house feels dryer and warmer too. Some reviews as well as the manual mention that it may smell when in use but this hasn’t been the case. It’s also very quiet in use, and feels very well made. As the name suggests it couldn’t be simpler to use. I’m glad I bought this model now as the Classic seems to differ manly in having more automated controls. It even looks stylish. No wonder it is rated number 1 on Amazon and has so many great reviews. I would highly recommend it.
Brilliant Dehumidifier. Does the job exactly as described.
We had serious problems with humidity in our 1 bed flat. The EcoAir seems to have got it under control. Mould started growing so we bought a Humidity Meter and it turned out we had between 85%-90% humidity in our front room.
I left the EcoAir on Turbo mode for 4-5 days and the humidity decreased to a more comfortable 45%. The room feels nicer to be in and also the mould-ish smell has gone away.
I now keep it on a steady 45%-50% on Eco mode. At this humidity level it collects 4-5L of water a day and switches itself off every now and then when the room has the right %.
I have yet to receive a electricity bill for the last month but hoping it won’t be a massive difference.
Whenever I empty the tank I still shake my head as I cannot understand where all the water is coming from…and the fact that we were breathing all of it in for the last year before buying the EcoAir.
If you have similar problems with humidity and mould as we did, this is what you need.

I decided to buy this dehumidifier after having constant issues with mould and damp in our ground floor flat. Both my son’s and my room stunk of mould which was growing all over the place due to structural issues and then condensation all over the double glazed windows. We’ve had thermal plaster boards put onto our external wall as apparently the flat only has a thin layer of insulation. This dehumidifier has made a huge difference with slightly warmer and cleaner air. No more smells of mould and no more condensation on the windows. I use it through the night on the lowest setting to help keep the warm air circulating after the central heating has been on as our big double bedroom has a tiny “suitable for a small bathroom” radiator.
overall would highly recommend as it makes a big difference to your home
So far this has exceeded my expectations, I can’t believe how much water it is drawing out every night- 2 pints of water each 4 hour period I have it on. I haven’t left it on during the night as it is a bit noisy on the high setting. I’m not sure if it keeps pulling out so much moisture every day as I only have it on for 4 hours at a time (I don’t like leaving electrical appliances turned on whilst I’m out at work). Maybe the damp in my daughters room would disappear quicker if it was on all the time but I’m not willing to do that yet, until I’m at home all day.
There is a bit of an odour when you first turn it on but I’ve found that that soon disappears. So far so good and I am impressed with it. Would I purchase it again – you bet I would. Not sure how much electricity it is using but to be honest I’m not that concerned as it is doing exactly what I want it to.
My first humidifier as i was reading how much moisture was in the air in our houses, read plenty of reviews & purchased this one, well first of all its so simple to set up, just unbox & switch on, the options for use are very easy to understand & sit at the top of the humidifier, so very easy to set your preferences, the amount of moisture this little thing (its about the size of one of those small suitcases, so very easy to manouvre about) takes out the air is amazing, had it a few wks now & the air in the house is definitely a lot fresher & healthier, the good thing is it will switch off automatically once the water tray is full (2 litres), so simple to lift & empty the water tray & once put back in starts automatically again, my first humidifier so can’t comment against others but thoroughly happy with this one, easy to use & does what it says on the tin.
Dehumidifiers can cost hundreds but the EcoAir is a good compromise being a good price, simple to use and effective. It is also more portable than many. For sporadic use then it is highly recommended. If you need a dehumidifier to run every day then it is probably worth buying a more effective and efficient model.
Pros
Simple to use, almost intuitive.
Seems to be highly effective (more expensive models may be more effective and efficient).
Relatively small, light and portable. Is unobtrusive in a room.
Pretty quiet in eco and auto modes.
Includes and ioniser.
Has a laundry setting.
Easy to remove water container.
Well built and looks good (for a dehumidifier)
Has a sensible carrying handle.
Good price given its performance and portability.
Cons
Yes it’s probably less efficient than more expensive models, but for occasional use this is not a big issue.
Does not display the current humidity or allow you to set a specific humidity target. The levels are pre-set but at reasonable levels so it isn’t a big problem.
If you need a dehumidifier to be running several hours a day on a regular basis then a more efficient and fully featured machine may be better, but it will cost twice as much.
Judging by the amount of water collecting in the water tank, the humidifier appears to be efficient. However there is no indication of the relative humidity [RH] of the atmosphere; either before or after use.The room in which it has been used no longer has condensation on the windows. I have used the unit in the ‘Auto’ position which should turn the fan speed down when the RH reaches the comfort zone [50-60%RH]. However there has been no alteration of fan speed when in the auto mode. It may be that the RH is still over 60% and thus the fan speed has not been called on to reduce. Without some indicator it is not possible to confirm this.
I selected the Desiccant model so that the noise of a compressor would not add to the noise of the fan speed. However it must be said that with the fan on the higher speed the noise is intrusive, whilst on the lower speed the noise level is acceptable.
The machine has not been in use long enough for it to become necessary to vacuum the filter, so I can make no comment on this.
In use there is the smell that that the instruction manual mentions. I would agree that it is a burning smell. I have not used the unit long enough for this smell not to be produced, which apparently will happen.
Bearing in mind the absence of a RH indicator and the noisy fan I have only given the unit four stars.
Would I buy it again? Yes, because it seems to be well built and appears to do the job required.

It is great for drying the penetrating damp issue i have in the walls of my flat . As a temporary measure until i sort the problem it is doing a good job. After about 3 or 4 hours of use the 2 Ltr. tank is full and needs emptying , but this is due to the severity of damp , especially during a rainy day. When i no longer need it for my wall issue i intend to use it to dry the laundry for which other reviews confirm its good for. Its overall size makes it ideal for even compromised spaces. The only drawback is the small amount of water it holds means emptying often if used regularly . Other products have larger capacity but most are more expensive or take up more space as they are generally larger. The reviews that i have read mostly confirm my own view that for a fairly small product it does a great job at a reasonable price compared to other similar or more expensive products.
Had this for almost two weeks now and very impressed with it. Had very bad condensation turning to mould problem in the quite large kids bedroom. They have fitted wardrobes in which their clothes ended up soaking as they were built on the external wall of our property. It is an end terraced house. Ever year had a problem in October when cooler weather started and would have to remove all their stuff out clean with bleach and anti fungal cleaner to no avail as the problem was still there. This dehumdifier is absolutely amazing at how much water it extracts. I have to keep mine on all day and night but so far the walls are dryer as are their clothes etc. There room was always quite cold but now it is so much warmer so I don’t have to leave the heating on for too long. I hope this will last as I am very pleased with it. Aftet 2 weeks I did as required and vacuumed the filter. And yes it was dusty even though I vac their room every day. Only time will tell how good this is but at the moment I am sooooo pleased.
Not sure I like this yet. maybe I haven’t figured it out fully yet I don’t know. it sounds like a fan belt about to snap. I did notice when it’s been working a while it won’t go onto the light blue section. (first half) it will only go over into the darker blue part. (second half). don’t know if that is normal but like I said I’m still getting used to it. mind you I have to say it has gotten rid of a heck of a lot of moisture from the air in this house so it’s doing something right. it’s kicking out a 3/4 to a full water tank which still surprises me even after the short time I’ve had this. you can either water your plants with it or fill your water butt up outside for later. I do other things with it like filling the cistern with the water. can’t be wasting all that lovely water.

A brilliant little machine. It works well and does not have any smell. It was bought because the flat I lived in at the time had little or no heating and so had to work at very low temperatures. It did this fine, even working in a room which was constantly at 0 or below. It sucked out huge amounts of water, which I needed after being flooded in 2013. I have now had this for over a year and now live in a standard 3 bed house. I pop it on the landing at night and move it around the house when needed. I think it is rather too small to do the whole house but as it is very light and portable it does not seem to be a problem for me. I can do the upstairs one day and downstairs the next. On horrid rainy days I also shut it in a room with my washing, turn up to maximum, and it dries my washing in a few hours for me. On the lowest setting, at current electricity prices, it costs me about 1 over a 24 hour period – which I think is good value for keeping your house mould and damp free. I highly recommend this product and I wouldn’t be without it.

I’ve bought this for more than a week to deal with annoying damp in my room. This is my first dehumidifier, so I cannot compare it with other similar products. Also, I bought this for removing damp, so no comments on the appearance.
According to my experience, it works weel. At high speed, it extracts about 2 liters everyday from my room. It is lower than expected, but I can feel the damp has been significantly removed from my room.
For noise level, you will definitely not want to sleep in the same rrom when it is running at high speed or laundry mode, but the quite mode is quiet enough for me to sleep. However, the quiet mode is not very effecient. I’ve run it overnight in quiet mode once, it extracts far fewer water than high speed.
I see that in other reviews, this model was reported stop working after a period of time. I haven’t experience any problem yet, but will update my review when I come across it.
At last, I would definitely recommend this model to anyone looking for a dehumidifier for a moderate sized room.
This is amazing. I live on my own in a small one bedroomed Park Home (similar in size to a static caravan) and this pulls about two litres of water a day from the air, it’s no wonder my windows would be all steamed up on a morning and the inside felt cold. The house is now certainly a lot more comfortable to live in.
On low power it’s fairly quiet, about the level of a cool air desk top fan, but when it switches to high power (when it detects that there is more moisture in the air) it gets louder, the equivalent of about three desk top fans all going at the same time. As it switches to high power whenever it feels like it, I tend to set it on low power when I go to bed so that I am not woken up in the middle of the night by it switching to high power.
I would also recommend a Dihl Mini Portable Air Dehumidifier for those small rooms which are in constant use but which the door is often closed.
Instantly ready to use – just remove packaging! Attractive design, effective at removing residual moisture from the air. Our house is 300+ years old and naturally doesn’t have a damp course and suffers from damp the whole way around, but this dehumidifier works really well at keeping the worst rooms warm, dry-feeling and therefore removing the smell of damp. The tray is very easy to remove and empty, and has a good capacity – I can maybe fill it 1 and a half times in a day, and the room it’s in is very damp. My only criticism is that it is quite loud. It is impossible to have it on and watch TV in the same room without the sound being up high. There are some reviews on here where people say that they can sleep with it on in the room – they must have hearing problems for the noise not to bother them! Nevertheless its a really good unit, and I now have 2 – one at either end of the house.

This dehumidifier works really well. Several options for pointing the oscillating vents in various ways.
The dessicant mechanism works by using a dessicant (like the little Silica Gel packets you often find inside packages) which absorbs water from the air, the machine then heats the dessicant up to release the water inside a chamber that collects this. Since it’s using heat, the device does end up heating up the air in the room, unlike the alternative refrigerant dehumidifiers which freeze the moisture out of the air and then defrost themselves to collect the water.
Things I like about this one:
– Fairly light
– Lots of options, including laundry mode and a self timer
– Can be configured with a permanent drain, which means that you don’t have to empty the collection tray at all.
Things I don’t like so much:
– The viewport on the side for seeing how much has been collected so far is virtually useless, it should have been made larger and clearer – but it shuts off when full, so not really much bother.
– The cover to the collection tray is a little fiddly to get on and off when you are emptying the tray.
I think it’s much better than the refrigerant type (of which we have had two in the past).
Works, is quiet and efficient. Makes a big difference in our small holiday chalet. The big test will come in the winter months. Easy to use and empty. You can set a desired humidity level and the unit cuts off and on (like a heater). Two fan speeds, the lower is quiet, eg you can watch TV whilst its running and you can sleep while it’s on ! Higher speed is obviously noisier but gets the job done quicker. Cable is on the L/H side of the unit, water tray pulls out on the R/H side. There’s a small circular window on the front so you can see fill levels. It’s supposed to cut off when full, haven’t tested that as I’ve always emptied before that point. Hot air is expelled forwards or upwards depending on the position of the adjustable top. In winter this will both cure damp and warm a small dwelling or flat. Too cheap is a false economy, too expensive (eg an Ebac) is probably OTT for most needs and not going to give you (much) more. After research this seemed about right. Looking like a good buy – so far so good !

After a bit of research we got this dehumidifier as a replacement from a compressor type dehumidifier. We went for this type as there is no compressor noise, the only noise is the fan moving the air which is quite quiet and we soon ignored it, we liked the timer control of having 2, 4 and 8 hours, silver bacteria filter, the different levels of moisture extraction, the air ioniser and the different modes of how it directs the air as it comes from the dehumidifier
We have been using the dehumidifier now for 6 weeks and it has been good extraction of moisture we have found the extraction rate is better than the compressor type of dehumidifier, the air feels dryer and warmer, we have kept it on eco mode all the time, even for drying the washing it’s worked quite quickly.
Overall its been a good buy
OK the only thing that I cant confirm that it is working ok is the Ionizer function, Sadly my wife has suffered terribly this year so far with her hay fever, and her eyes are permanently bright red and swollen to some degree on a daily basis, and having required her to make several doctors visits and even one to the emergency A&E eye clinic, the symptoms vary but despite running the Ionizer function it sadly does not seem to help as far as we can tell, NB. THIS MAY NOT be a problem that can be improved by this ionizer device as it is a very sever condition, and is far worse than she has ever had previously.
SO to the main function of the device and why I purchased it was for the dehumidifier function, and this works brilliantly, the smells others mention is definitely not there in ours, it does give of a little heat even on the lowest setting, but not a problem.
Would buy again without hesitation.

I did a lot of research before I choose this dehuminifer. The reasons I choose Ecoair over other brand are:
1) Space-saving design
2) Multi-function
3) WAter tank with lid
4) High rating from other review
After I use this dehumidifier for over a week, I have the following comment (so far I do not have any complaints):
1) Quiet. I am a light sleeper, I use this machine in the washroom next to my bedroom. I can’t hear any noise disturbing my sleep.
2) Good size. It is not heavy to move up and downstairs. Of course, I did not move it a lot once I put it in the washroom. But I can tell 6kg is not heacy for most people.
3) Good extract rate. It extracted nearly 2L of water when I turn it on about 8 hours a day.
4) Keep your place warm. When you have the machine turn on for a while, the room will become warm. Saving you energy bills in winter when you have the machine on.
5) Water extracted can be used for ironing. I think it is applicable to most dehumidifier. The lid and handle for the water tank is a bonus as it prevent water from spilling out when you remove it. BTW, I do not have the problem removing the water tank or putting it back.
6) 2 years warranty. What to complain with 2 years warranty?
7) Look. I love the color blue. The rectangular shape and rounded edge make the dehumidifier look stylish.
I cannot think of other comments but I will update this if I have any issues.
So far, very satisified with the Ecoair DD122FW MK5 Desiccant Classic Dehumidifier.
Ive had this a while now, used all this past winter, and boy what a difference it makes, it keeps my conservatory dry and heats it as well, not hot, but enough not to need any additional heating out there if its left running 24/7, if need be, capacity is good, only needs emptying once a day, if it went wrong, i would get a replacement straight away, it really does make a difference, I was pleased with delivery and would go back to this company again if need be.
Update – have had this run for 4 winters now, and still working really well. due to the cost running 24/7 decided to get a timer switch for this, and had it come on from about 0600hrs for a couple of hrs, then back on again at about 1600hrs till about 2300hrs this worked a treat, kept the conservatory free of condensation, whilst running the area didnt seem as cold as when it was off !! I have a small front room with the conservatory off it, radiator in the front room, heats through to the conservatory, it does tend to get a bit chilly prior to heating coming on again, just have to put on a jumper for a couple of hrs!! Running it this way, I empty it every 3 days or so, and its a lot more economical
We have a large old house over 3 floors and have had problems with damp in several rooms. Plus we’d been feeling really cold over the recent wet weather we’ve had, despite having the heating on full. We bought two of these, one for the first landing and one for the second. The difference was almost instant. With all the dampness removed from the air the heating was much more efficient and heated the house far better. The dehumidifiers pump out some warm air too which you can feel. We keep ours going day and night, unless the weather is good enough to have all the windows open, then I turn them off. Can’t comment on how much they are to run but I reckon they are well worth it. We had problems with clothes in wardrobes smelling too which we haven’t had since we got them. They are really easy to use. There’s a button to turn the ionisation on or off. The next button is a timer – 2, 4 or 8 hours. One to direct the warm air being pumped out (3 options). A laundry button (2 options, high and low) so you can put it near a load of clothes on airers and let it dry them. A button for the level of dehumidifying you want, ie low (which we keep ours on all the time just about) which is the quietest, a high level which is obviously a bit noisier and one which toggles between the two levels, depending on the level of humidity in the air. It’s really easy to empty the water tray, just pull it out, carry it with the handy carry handle and empty it out into the sink. Some on here mentioned the noise but I don’t find it noisy at all. As I said, we have ours on the landing and we close our door at night and can’t hear it. The kids doors remain open and it doesn’t disturb them. Probably best on the low level at night though. There is a slight smell if you get your nose right in front of the air being blown out but it’s really not noticeable. I think there was maybe a smell when we first got them but that soon disappeared and to be honest I expected it, like anything new. I’m sat in front of one of them now and can’t smell anything untoward. Feel free to ask me any questions if you’re thinking about getting one. Hope this all helps.

My daughter does not own a tumble drier or have the space to fit one. Washes are dried by hanging clothes around the house and in winter, the windows were constantly running with water. So, after some research, I treated her to one of these dehumidifiers. She’s delighted with it, as there’s now very little condensation on the windows and her clothes dry more quickly. She is very sensitive to noise, so she avoids using it when she wants peace and quiet, but at all other times she’s happy to have it running when needed. It’s generally switched off at night once the machine has done it’s stuff after the late evening shower and is only used infrequently in the daytime unless a wash has been done.
I bought this Humidifier becuase we have had such great servce out ot the last one. We bought a BQDD122FW from B & Q about 8 years ago and it did the job admirably. We used it in the bathroom for 2 hours after we have finished showering. It removed the excess mousture and kept the mould at bay. My wife also used it to dry clothes in a small room. When this failed we looked for something different but they were either too heavy (ones with a refridgerant pump) or too expensive).
When I realised that the Ecoair had virtually the same model number as our old B&Q dehumidifier we bought one (the Classic Mk5). sure enough it is exactly the same controls and spec., and it does the same job in the same way. If your looking to buy somethikng to suck the moisture out of an old 5 bedroom house this is NOT the one to buy. Go for a big 20 litre per day job. However if you just want to keep your bathroom mould free and/or dry clothes quickly especially those delicates that you would not put into your tumble dryer, then go for this one.
You may hear people say that dessicant humidifiers are expensive to run but the actually work (IMO) faster that the others and therefore cost to run is not a great deal different between the two.

I only received this product yesterday. However I have had it on, on the landing, for the last 12 hours on the auto function and it has extracted almost a full tank of water! I would not have classed my 3 bed semi as particularly damp, I didn’t suffer from condensation or mould. However I have been experiencing condensation building up on the roof felt and then running and dripping onto the ceiling boards. I have been informed this is due to not enough ventilation in the roof space for the size of the property but until I can afford to replace the facias and sofits and so add more vents, I needed to try and remove as much moisture as possible before it gets to the roof. Of course it is too early to tell if it is going to work for this purpose but based on the amount of moisture it has extracted so far I have high hopes!
hi, i bought on the power of the review mass of 5 star ratings, but today a friend asked me what dehumidifier i bought so i had to log into my amazon orders history to send her the link. anyway, i have since seen the number of negative reviews and then i reinvestigated the 5 stars and most of them come after a couple of weeks and it makes sense, the unit works wonderfully and i can imagine all those satisfied people so grateful to have those damp walls and musty smells obliterated. But what after a reasonable period of usage? those negative reviews are mainly after a more considered length of time. well i can report after 9 months it has been brilliant, i never tinker around with the setting, i have the dial around three quarters the way around – i never use it to dry clothes just get rid of damp in the back bedroom – and it does brilliantly. i am sure it can suffer from unreliability but i always believe you get what you pay for in general terms and i knew this was not the top top end, but performance wise i cannot imagine much better – as for reliability then 9 months in i am still happy and if it packs up i will buy a new one, not sure of what make/model – i feel already i have had my moneys worth. best of luck to you all.
I purchased this dehumidifier as we have quite a bad problem with condensation, mould around the windows and even mouldy clothes in our wardrobe (yuk). We had previously tried a mini dehumidifier which didn’t seem t make much difference. Anyway after using this you can already tell the difference when you go into the room. I cant smell the usual musty smell and the condensation has vanished, wonderful! I opened up the tank and it has collected about a pint of water from just 24 hours! I’m not sure how expensive these things are to run but I guess well find out soon enough. We have ours on the medium setting but there is also a high clothes drying setting which would be a lot more expensive to run. All in all it is worth the expense when it comes to health so would highly recommend the product. Five Stars!

I bought this to try out one of the bedrooms. I’ve had it three days. It’s a really great bit of kit. It’s quiet, very efficient, very effective. It’s quiet enough to sleep through. It really works, extracting over 8 litres of water from the air in 72 hrs. The power performance isn’t something I’ve got into yet, but the machine does have an energy efficient setting (it’s the quiet one too) and the controls can be set to keep the air at a specific humidity or lower. If you leave it on the energy efficient setting and at 50% RH the device is quiet, energy minimal and effective. The water tank has a nice cover to prevent spillage and a handle to help you carry it away, the tank holds over a litre and the machine has an auto off, with red indicator light, when the tank is full. The dehumidifier is about 30cm by 45cm by 15 cm in size (or so, give or take 50%) and has a washable filter to protect the fan and workings from fine dust. I’ve not worked out if the expelled air is effectively filtered but it does produce a nice stream of warm, dry air. I’m impressed.
Not a cheap purchase this one but it was bought to sort out a damp problem in an upstairs bedroom. At the start of the autumn in 2013 I noticed we were having green mould appearing in the upstairs back bedroom. This room is above a kitchen and has 3 external walls, so it gets a lot of moisture from the kitchen, and it gets cold, hence the damp. I started leaving a couple of windows open but that didn’t really do much. My father-in-law very kindly added more insulation to the attic above the bedroom which improved the problem, but didn’t cure it. So I took the hit and bought this de-humidifier. I didn’t have much faith in any dehumidifier to be honest, but it arrived and I plugged it in next to the damp patch in the corner of the bedroom. I set it to the automatic setting (starts off on high) and after a couple of hours the unit was nearly full of water. I emptied the tank and put it on again. This cycle happened for about 2 weeks until the unit clicked onto the lower setting, and the humidity meter that I had bought on Amazon to go with it, showed the humidity at less than 55%. I was extremely pleased with the unit as it had done its job and now the mould has disappeared. I still turn the unit on every morning for 2 hours, but that’s all it needs as the attic insulation has kept the room a lot warmer, and the kitchen extractor fan is used every time we cook.
Recommend it as a really useful household tool. Chose desiccant as expected to use it at lower room temperatures. Chosen as an option to use with other options of gas central heating, wood burning stove, electric fan heater. It looks good and neat to have standing around or to tuck in a corner. As it has rained every day for a year (?) and I have to go out in all weather to manage animals, getting coats, overalls, gloves, boots wet several times a day, it helps to dry everything out. Great option for drying washing. The air feels good and fresh. It does warm the air but not hot like an electric fan heater, so could be used for drying when not wanting any heating. Like seeing how much water it collects. Really drys your hair (long, thick, rain pours off it as don’t wear a hat) also.
An update: Bought it in November 2013, I had no idea it was that long ago, it is still running and extracting moisture. It is on the landing always switched on at middle setting, it comes on for a bit whenever, showers, wet days, damp coats and clothing no worry, keeps the house fresh aired.
I bought this item when the weather started to cool as I was getting a lot of condensation and mould in my Motorhome, which I use frequently. I was amazed at how much water this machine can collect in only 2 hours. It also has a handy timer switch on it so you can set it for 2, 4 or 8 hours so it can be working whilst you sleep or are out and about. It’s fairly quiet during the day but takes some getting used to if you have it on whilst you sleep, with the quietness of the night it emphasises the sound of the fan. If the humidity is kept at around 50% then mould cannot grow and I saw a reduction in the frequency of new growth. There is an Eco setting which I do use, but I’m not sure how economical it actually is. Overall very pleased with my purchase and I would recommend it as fit for purpose, but as I said earlier not sure about how much it costs to run.

Bought this dehumidifier in an attempt to solve huge amounts of condensation in my house (3 bed semi). It certainly doesn’t disappoint. I had previously tried to combat the problem with disposable dehumidifiers that you can buy but windows were still dripping. This dehumidifier cleared it up in two days and now easily keeps it in check. It runs for approximately 4 hours a day and collects a full tray almost everyday.
I was originally drawn to this dehumidifier for one reason above all others because it states it works at low temperatures which it actually does as our thermostat is left at 10 degrees. Most dehumidifiers don’t work well below 15 degrees.
The only reason it loses one star is it has developed a slight barely audible noise when on low fan speed, a kind of rumble.
Can’t comment on reliability yet but with a two year guarantee what does it matter.
we had new doors and windows fitted but then have had bits of mold appear. We thought its because with our new doors / windows we have in effect ‘sealed’ the house up and moisture is getting stuck, it will naturally go to the coldest parts of the house and form mold. Easy to get rid of with a diluted bleach spray but how to stop it coming back, especially with a young asthmatic child?! we thought this device may work and several weeks later I am amazed at how much water its pulling out of thin air, we have it generally ticking over on the lowest setting and every few days i empty it, there must be 2 pints of water each time. By using showers / baths, drying washing, cooking etc, it all produces water vapour and this is the perfect way to stop mold, we have it in the room with the washing maiden and its dry within a few hours rather than a few days, amazing really. Its quiet on the low settings and simple to use. its no bigger than a carry on case for an aeroplane and very light to move. not cheap but none of these things are but yes it works.
I bought this as there were lots of good reviews. I feel it only fair to add my opinion to the mix.
I bought this dehumidifier as my house is an old terrace property. In the winter the condensation can be really bad.
My first impressions were that it is a well packaged device and the unit itself is very well made.
I have been using it for 4 weeks and so far so good. On economy mode it removes 3 or 4 liters of water during the day and so far i have almost no condensation. My windows used to be 100% covered now there is just a thin bead of moisture along the bottom of my windows.
The unit is quiet but I don’t think it is quiet enough to have in a room where you are trying to sleep.
I would happily recommend this to a friend.

Ordered the dehumidifier after noticing wet windows, sills and a few black patches on the wall. Not surprising I suppose after a house flooding last year. I cannot believe the difference it has made in the 3 days it has been running. This quiet little machine has cleared the windows, dried the sills and removed the smell from my home which I had just begun to notice. I did lots of research before I bought the ecoair and although I considered others, I liked the idea this has purifying qualities ( I have kids with asthma and allergies) and of course the price was reasonable. Based on its performance so far – I would really recommend it!
By the way, the speed of delivery from the suppliers was also excellent – Well done !

Bought to dehumidify our old house which suffers from condensation and damp walls in the winter. Works a treat and dehumidifies well. Often need to empty tank twice a day if it is on constantly. Bought with a humidity gauge to monitor and it dropped the humidity from 85% to less than 60% in a few hours on first use. Need to use daily to keep below 60%.
Timer is a useful function. Button toggles between off, 2h, 4h and 8hr. We use the auto function and it rarely drops below the high setting. The noise from this is about the same as free standing fan in the summer so we don’t have it on upstairs at night. Sometimes put it on downstairs overnight. Switches itself off if tank is full.
Cant comment on laundry function as not used. Instruction booklet is mostly pointless – it doesn’t even tell you how to remove and empty the water tank (but it’s not rocket science!). Light enough to carry around the house.
Would recommend.
I have previously owned Ebac dehumidifiers that use the refrigerant to extract damp air. I have found the Ecoair one to be quieter as it only has the fan noise to contend with – the other types sound like there is a fridge in the room as well as the fan noise which can be more distracting! The noise from the fan is just like background white noise – any reasonable fan noise so I don’t find it annoying and I’m happier to leave it running at bed time, albeit outside my bedroom – the other ones were just too noisy.
I bought this one as the filter doesn’t need replacing every few months (and those things are not cheap) and it’s light. I wasn’t sure it would be powerful enough as my previous models have been much more powerful than this, but I have been pleasantly surprised as it can keep my 2 bedroom house dry even without me having to move it to a different floor. Although if there is a particular need to move it then it’s light enough to do so.
I have no issues when emptying it – haven’t spilled anything so far and found that other dehumids I have owned would always drip when I emptied them.
I find I need to use how many hours I want the unit to run as otherwise it seems to be on almost all the time, but I think this is just because my property quickly gets damp again. My last dehumidifier would switch off when the air got to a dryness I was happy with – which probably didn’t hit 55% RH.
Reasons I gave it 4 stars;
Cons-
Can’t alter what dryness you are happy for it to reach before it turns off
Doesn’t hold that much water so I have to empty it a bit more often
Pros –
Timer so it will switch off after 2, 4 or 8 hours
Lightweight / very portable and has a carry handle
Powerful for it’s size
Reasonably quiet
Easy to use
Seems to be more efficient at lower temperatures so it’s extracting moisture all the time
Just got this 2 weeks ago for my home in Spain which is near the sea, and has no central heating – so can be pretty damp in winter. The difference it has made is incredible. It’s a big open plan living space and the whole area feels warmer to the point that people that visited thought I had the heating on. No problems with condensation on the windows anymore, or damp patches and mould on the walls. I am currently running it 12-18 hours a day because of the high levels of humidity here, and it’s more economical than putting the air conditioning on for heating. I am amazed as the difference it has made and really delighted with it.
I love how quiet it is and I like the ioniser function, it seems to freshen and cleanse the air. Tried out laundry mode and it worked well.
All in all much better than the one I had already, and a brilliant purchase. Has made the most enormous difference. Just ordered another one! Highly recommend!
We purchased the Ecoair DD122FW MK5 after we found moisture and damp building up in our new home (which is not so new – built 1926). Due to solid walls and lack of TLC in our home we have replaced floors after finding they were rotten (thank you to the surveyor – NOT) and put right what had been over the years put wrong!
We can now monitor the air Rh value using our recently purchased Thermometer/Hygrometer and in conjunction with the Ecoair dehumidifier have managed to stabilise the humidity. This unit works extremely well and is very quiet compared to other units on offer, the Laundry mode is an added bonus! The price, size and functions for this unit are just what we were looking for and worth every penny.
Highly recommend this unit – if you have a small 1920-1940 Bungalow where you have a build up of damp and condensation on your walls/windows, this unit will rid you of the spores and moisture, keeping your furniture/floors from either getting too wet or from drying out!
Unit arrived within a few days and very well packaged, comes complete with permanent drain hose (option on other units).
I’ve only had it a couple of days but so far I am very impressed. It was delivered speedily through amazon and took less than a minute to set up.
It comes with a short leaflet explaining the settings, all of which are simple and intuitive.
Ioniser: Can switch this on to filter/clean the air
Timer: Can set it to 2, 4 or 8 hrs (not used this yet)
Laundry mode/high laundry mode: A high power mode to dry out a very damp room or laundry pretty quickly (8 hrs or less)
Low and high normal mode: Low ‘economy’ mode works at getting the room to 55% humidity, high mode works at getting down to 45%.
There is an ‘auto’ mode that will toggle between low and high normal mode, as and when required.
Airflow: You can set it to ‘wide’ air flow to cover a whole room, ‘spot’ to focus on a small area or ‘up’
I put this on high normal mode and within 4 hours the water tank was close to full (I really do have a damp house!). I left it running on low economy mode overnight and by morning, again the tank was full. After this short amount of time, we wear beathing easier and the damp air feel of our house had noticebly improved.
The water tank just slides out for emptying and has a handy fold down carry handle. However, there is no one opening to empty the tank through, you kind of have to just turn it upside down and the water comes out a number of gaps like near the folding handle, the drain hole and a gap near the front of the tray.
When we first swtiched it on, there was a mild odour, a kind of ‘new car’ smell, hard to describe but a synthetic smell which was not really unpleasant and not very strong and it soon disappeared (few hours). I know other reviews have mentioned the smell but we were not bothered by this at all. The unit also warms the air slightly, which for us using it in winter is a welcome side effect.
As to noise, on low economy mode, it is a low hum and it doesn’t really disturb you being in the same room as it. On the higher modes, it is nosier, like an air con unit on full blast, so we put it in a room that we are not using (i.e. upstairs during the day, then move it downstairs at night) as it is loud enoughto make sleeping or watching TV a little annoying.
It has a carry handle and is reasonably lightweight, so it is portable, making me more likely to move it around the house as and when I want.
Lookswise, it is reasonably sleek and has a little blue light on the side, as well at the buttons’ LEDs on the top, so emits a glow when in a dark room. While not beautiful, it is better looking than some more’ industrial’ looking dehumidifiers.

much to my annoyance I found out that my cavity walls were filled before I moved in which is great on the heating aspect but means that instead I suffer terrible with damp and condensation. I was getting black mould in certain areas, doors were swelling up so wouldn’t close properly and I had loads of condensation on the windows. with this dehumidifier it has solved all of those problems and it makes my home a much nicer environment to live in.
I like that it has a humidistat and that you can set the humidity level to suit your needs, which also means you don’t have to waste loads of electric with it being constantly on because it is quite expensive to run.
it also kicks out a bit of heat so warms the room aswell which is nice in the winter but not so nice if you have to use it in the summer. It has a silver filter that kills the bugs and that makes the place smell kind of new and clean.
anyway, all in all a very good buy
I bought this dehumidifier to replace a DeLongi one that was failing and extremely noisy. It arrived a day earlier than expected and I put it in the bathroom which is a cold dark north facing room. At 11.00 when it went in the bathroom it was 17.2 degrees and the humidity was 99%. I checked on it at 12.30 the temperature was 19.2 and the humidity was 77%. Another look at 6.00pm and the temperature was 21 degrees and humidity was 61%. I had the fan set on the lower setting and the dial was on maximum but I then turned it down to about halfway. It blows out lovely warm air and I really like the louvres on the top which means the air can blow directly upwards or to the front for drying washing.
There’s a lot of chatter about how expensive dehumidifiers are to run, but I think there are several things to consider. The fact that the temperature had increased by nearly 4 degrees could mean that the radiator in the bathroom will be turned down once we put the central heating on. The warm air blowing out of the machine will keep the towels dry and mean we won’t need to use the tumble drier as much. The health issues around dampness concern me and given the climate in the UK I expect that people struggling with heating bills could hugely benefit from having a dehumidifier. Not to mention the condensation streaming down the windows in the colder months and black mould forming on the walls and ceiling. 140 well spent in my opinion.

Living in a turn of the century, single skinned house, condensation is always a problem. A recent rendering job while keeping out the damp, doesnt stop the condensation a great deal, so cue this purchase. Even on one of the lower settings, the immediate effect was that it brought down the humidity in my living room from 85% to around 70%, so steamy windows are a thing of the past(sorry Tina!). Being that it’s so portable, if the kitchen is a problem at cooking time, I just pop it in there for 20mins and put it on a higher setting. Again, the windows/walls demist quickly, stopping those black, moldy corners from forming. Havent tried the laundry setting yet but past reviews seem favourable. The collecting tank is small but what would you expect in a portable machine, so expect to empty it once a day. But the operation is simply to do and the plastic cover stops the slops on the way to the sink. Most importantly, it’s stopped the condensation problem I had, does it relatively quietly and isnt on all the time. Well worth the investment.
The DD122FW MK5 Classic Pink Desiccant Dehumidifier is my favourite helper to dry my laundry quickly (mostly overnight) and efficiently, but also to get rid of disagreeable odours in the guest bathroom and also to de-steam it after long showers or baths some guests enjoy taking. I find it quite loud on the maximum laundry setting (there are two laundry settings). It is very small and reliably stops working when its tank is full and without further ado starts working again once you re-insert the emptied tank. You do need to bend down to your feet, to remove the tank – remember that. And as the machine itself is very lightweight, you might experience some difficulty to pull the full water tank out. I found out that a little slap against the side of the machine while you are pulling out the tank (that comes out the same side of the machine) helps to get it gliding out.
I have absolutely nothing negative to remark on it. It has been in my household working mostly daily for 4.5 months. I recommend the machine.
Living in a period farmhouse damp in certain areas is an on going issue, we needed a device to tackle the problem. Having tried a conventional condensing type dehumidifier which proved useless (particularly at lower temperatures), we began researching the alternatives and came across the Desiccant DD122FW. We could have bought a cheaper alternative, but the glowing customer reviews convinced us this was the one to go for and, so far, we haven’t been disappointed. It arrived within a couple of days of ordering (impressive service) and now sits quietly in the corner of our kitchen (mostly) where, set on an automatic mid range setting, just does its own thing and extracts an amazing amount of moisture. The difference it’s made so far is nothing short of amazing. That musty ‘old building’ aroma has gone, the windows and surrounds stay cleaner and drier for much longer – all very impressive. We haven’t tried the ‘turbo boost’ setting yet as we’ve had no need to, but from our experience since purchase, we would recommend this product to anyone.

I bought this dehumidifier in November 2012. I previously had an Ebac with a condenser which was noisy and a disaster in freezing conditions when it leaked water. I decided I could not have condensing dehumidifier again. I did research and decided it had to be a desiccant one. Initially I was disappointed by the performance and expected a faster response to increased humidity in an unheated shed used for storage My first review reflected my disappointment which in the event was unfair. It has served us well over the time and I have no complaints whatsoever. The reservoir generally needs emptying every 2/3 days in very damp conditions such as this winter. I have never measured the electricity consumption but against the damage done by excess moisture in the air and resultant damp I can bear the cost.
I am therefore happy to recommend it. In fact I am so pleased with it I am buying another for the conservatory which has streaming windows and black mould this winter.
My Eco Air Dehumidifier with Ioniser and Silver Filter plus with heat drying laundry arrived in 5 days on Isle of Man by Yodel signed for which was very good. I set it up and got it started in my bedroom. In 2 days it had drawn out 7 litres of water. the air feels much dryer in my bedroom. I moved the humidifier to the living room. overnight it drew out 3 litres, which I emptied over night and let it go throughout the whole day. I hve it on full at the moment but will switch it over to economy when the balance is right. I am very happy with the product. On full power it does make a loud hissing noise but that does not hassle me I am used to noise. I recomend this product absolutely. I had a terrible damp and mildew problem which I think will be sorted out now with this product. It looks nice and compact about 15 inches high by 11 inches across. A technical computerised attractive product with extra facilties which are handy it also fits in and looks good, I love it so therefore I give it 5 stars..
Bought one of these just before Xmas, dispatched very quickly very well packaged. The machine is well made and designed very sensibly. Bought this for a large kitchen that has three external solid stone walls that has been a massive problem with condensation and mould and very hard to keep warm, even though I have underfloor heating and a central heating radiator on. The Humidifer has eliminated all the condensation, the mould has stopped growing and the room is warm as the air is dry and the heating can now cope with it. We used to have dripping walls and windows they are now completely dry even when cooking elaborate meals on the six ring gas range e.g. xmas dinner. After initail continuos running for about a week the machine is on less and therefore more economical. Although not used in the rest of the house it has made a difference there as well as now when we open the kitchen door ther is no longer a blast of cold damp air that fills the rest of the house. I would recomend this to anyone who has condensation problems and this type is especially good for cold areas as the non desiccant ones dont work at low tempratures. I wish we had bought one years ago, now I can redecorate without worrying about unsightly and unhealthy mould coming back in a few weeks.
We recently moved into a period home and we really bad problems with condensation on windows. Some of them were so bad that there was mold growing on the actual glass -that’s right, the old owners just let it grow! The central heating was not enough to dry out the air so I decided to buy a dehumidifier and went for this one, because of the price, positive reviews and the fact that it’s quiet to operate.
I’ve had it for two days and I am very very happy with it. The condensation problem was solved overnight: the unit was literally on for the whole night and it in the morning the reservoir was almost full. Since then, it just turns itself on when it needs to (probably 1 hour in total a day) and no trace at all of humidity in the house.
On the low setting it’s not too noisy and you can easily sleep with it on, provided it’s not in the room where you are. On full power it’s quite noisy but I can’t see myself using it in that mode, except maybe when mopping floors.
I also think it looks quite nice, although my partner disagrees but then he’s always had strange tastes, except when he chose me, of course!

We are so happy with this dehumidifier. I was a little apprehensive as it had mixed reviews and it was quite expensive, but after waking up every morning with the windows swimming in water and constantly fighting very determined mildew, I was prepared to risk it and I am so glad I did! I did the research and this one seemed to fit our needs as it was big enough for our home. After a week the condensation has pretty much cleared up and there is no sign of the mildew! Yes, you can it hear it running but it’s no louder than a heater and you soon get used to it. Sometimes there is a slight chemical smell but it is not strong nor is it particularly horrible and I am happy to accept both the hum and slight smell if the condensation and mildew is no longer!!! It’s quite small and compact – we were expecting something bigger – and doesn’t get in the way. We are emptying it every other day with it on approx 8 hours a day. We are very happy with it and happily recommend it for a reasonable sized family home.
We got this dehumidifier to help make our basement flat less musky and we are amazed at how well it does the job!
It has loads of settings, two specifically for drying laundry which I use a lot as we don’t have a tumble dryer, as well as auto mode which stays on until the tank is full and 3 timer settings (2 hours, 4 hours and 8 hours I think) – and they are all really clearly marked on and easy to use. You can also adjust the fans to make it blow out dry air more widely or to sweep up and down.
The tank is really easy to empty and it’s clear from a light on the control panel when it needs to be done. It has a little handle and is easy to move around, it’s not too heavy at all. Makes the air really nice and clean and fresh smelling and the flat is noticeably less humid, it’s also pretty good looking for a dehumidifier and is not an eye sore at all. Can’t beleive we didn’t buy one sooner!
Arrived on time. Spent time researching and reading reviews and settled on this model and delighted. Had an existing damp problem in a bedroom which needed to be remedied with air-bricks, fixing guttering and external drainage. Problem was historic so bedroom needed drying out once source of problem resolved so used dehumidifier to take out existing moisture in walls which caused mould and damp in built in wardrobe. After couple of weeks moisture removed and room was dry and so were walls and mould didn’t return. On max removed 6 litres of water a day (i.e, emptied container twice). Cheap to run about 3 x 100 watt bulbs on max and one x 100 watt bulb on low, approx 5 or so a month. Runs relatively quiet and is anti bacterial and added benefit that damp musty smell has gone and room no longer feels damp. Auto cut off feature a must. Looks stylish and unobtrusive and not heavy so easily portable. I read that some reviewers had faults with product but was re-assured that dealing with manufacturer directly and not reseller should be easy should I encounter a problem (perhaps Amazon should investigate seller issues raised by other reviewers as ultimately they want happy shoppers).
The dehumidifier arrived relatively quickly (ordered on Sunday evening, got it on Wednesday), and when I first opened the box, the first impression was very good.
It is sturdy and well-built, the plastic casing feels good and well made. It feels like good quality plastic, and not the rubbish brittle ones. The whole thing is very compact, the handle at the top, buttons, and rounded corners made it feel ergonomic.
At the loudest setting, it sounds like a waterfall, not too bad really. At the lowest setting, it sounds like an air-con. I haven’t tried sleeping with it in the room, but I expect it should be enough to just use it in the day. In about 30mins of use (in Auto mode), it has reduced the humidity in my room from 76% to 70% and still going. There is no indicator showing the current humidity of the room, but you can just buy a humidity meter at 5.
The air that comes out is warm! Seems like good value for money.
One negative point is that there is a rather bright blue light from the side when it is turned on, which could get annoying in the night.

I had a Delonghi (DNC-65) model eco-frienddly dehumidifier which served me nearly five yrs and it failed due to problems with the fan. I guess these items are not easy to repair and no point in doing so after five yrs of service. So, I was looking for a replacement ecofriendly model which doesn’t have compressor and come across this eco-air make which is similar in look to my previous one. The item was ordered and delivered within 48 hrs,as always an impressive service from Amazon.
The Dehumidifier is very good lokking with neat finish and style and is very compact. The operation of the machine is very is easy, just plug and play through digital control. You don’t need the manual, in case it is required it is well written and detailed with pictures. I usually put it in Auto mode during daytime and at night switch to Low mode. The low mode is really quiet and doesn’t disturb your sleep in the bedrom (yes, its kept in my bedroom). Also, there is a nice blue antibacterial light which glow all the time and I’m not diturbed by this light. There is also an ioniser function which puries the air. The unit shut down automatically when the reservoir is full (2 litre capacity). So I can’t fault this machine in any aspects of its operation and its highly recommended.
