Good quality camera and very easy to install
Installation with existing chime transformer
I struggled to find this info so decided to give it a go. Hope this helps someone else in a similar situation – I have a Friedland Type 4 chime that is rated 8-16V. I was not sure if this will be enough to power the doorbell which is advertised to require 16-24. I wasn’t sure if the full range was required or just for the existing transformer to sit somewhere within that range. Turns out it was the latter. I bypassed the F and T terminals in the chime first (see photo). I was then able to wire in the camera where the doorbell push button was and it powered on. It did a diagnostic check and confirmed the existing voltage was enough for it to work. All in all, it turned out to be a lot simpler than I thought. As long as you are happy doing some DIY you can install this pretty easily.
Review
I moved from a Nest Hello wired camera. This is a big improvement in terms of image quality. The only thing I am slightly concerned about is during dusk when there isnt quite enough light for the IR LEDs to come on it produces a dark image where its hard to make out faces. Nest seems to get around this somehow (likely increasing exposure in post processing).
The eufy security app is much better than nest, the cameras load quicker and the clips are much easier to navigate. You also get many more settings to control what kind of notifications you get, if clicking on notification should take you to live view vs the clip of the motion that triggered the alert etc. And finally the pre recorded massages are a good touch. I have had many instances of trying to talk to someone at the door only to be let down by poor 4G connection on my phone. This means I can just press a button and it will play a pre recorded message.
No subscription makes this a winner!
I had a Ring Video doorbell and their annual subscription really irked me so decided to switch to the Eufy. So far, the Eufy’s picture quality is better, the chime supplied (bonus over Ring already), is a useful addition just for the chime itself but also provides video storage. The only downside I’ve found over the Ring is the motion detection isn’t as good at picking out humans over branches or traffic. I’ve tweaked the settings and it’s pretty good now with a combination of selecting an area and blocking the bit at the end of the path with traffic. Pretty happy overall and glad to be free of the stupid Ring subscription.
Overall satisfied
High-quality video resolution, reliable motion detection, and easy installation process. The two-way audio and night vision features are also appreciated by customers, as they provide added security and convenience. This is not battery operated. There are some occasional connectivity issues with the doorbell’s Wi-Fi connection. Overall, the Eufy doorbell appears to be a solid choice for those looking for a reliable and easy-to-use home security device.
I hear and see you now
Good quality and good looks, works extremely well with picture and sound, easy to mount and easy to work.
Good doorbell but app updates have caused it to sometimes be unreliable
I am happy with the eufy doorbell but I am having difficulty marrying it up to our Alexa show 5 gen 1,this maybe because I am in my eighties and not brilliant with apps! I’ll keep trying.
Reasonably Priced Door Bell
We purchased this doorbell to replace the original doorbell we had wired into the property. Following the user manual made installation very simple.
PROS:
-No monthly subscription costs
– Reasonably priced compared to other video doorbells on the market
– Very clear images
– Can adjusts ring volume and tone on plug in device
-App very simple to use
CONS
-There is a few seconds delay in communication
– Picks up car tyres as humans can lead to alot of notifications.
Easy to install and good value.
Eufy Camera doorbell is well made and operates as expected, flawlessly.
Easy to set up
Good doorbell but often takes a while to come through to my phone as someone ringing at my door. It’s not my internet that’s causing the delay.
No hidden extras
Works as expected and no hidden trial period extras like another well known video doorbell. Easy to install and set up via the app, and the hard wired version means it doesn’t need recharging, and you can use it as a live surveillance camera viewed via your phone or via your account on the Eufy website. Only downsides I see, is that the onboard storage is limited to 4gb, and the 2k claim is fine if your phone or device supports 2k. Should have been designed to have expandable storage, come Eufy , sort that out and you’ll outsell that other brand. On the whole though, v satisfied ATM.
Not bad door camera
Easy to install apps good too
Much better than ring doorbell
Setting inside the app
Don’t know why the it cannot change the language inside the app
Does everything I wanted and more!
The included power supply and 5 metre cable was the perfect length for our mounting point which was very pleasing. Connection to the app and our Wifi was fairly simple and then the final stage was setting up the motion zone which did take a bit of patience to get it where I wanted it but got there in the end. I like the fact that it’s wired in and therefore no battery required and also no subscription.
My neighbour recommended this Door/Cam to me and I am happy to pass on that recommendation.
Excellent produc
Bought this to replace a Ring doorbell after a 10 a month increase in subscription charges for each camera on the subscription, I must say I am very pleased with my purchase, the 2K video quality is excellent and I am not getting notifications for every car & dog walker passing in front of my house despite decreasing the zone minimum.
My only gripe is that the 4gb storage is on the doorbell itself so if anyone nicks off with I have no video of the theft, I have since also purchased the twin camera + Homebase with 16gb local storage, unfortunately the doorbell can’t save to the Homebase.
Excellent pictures but false triggers
Needed some packing to angle for best view of visitors. Good access by phone app. Prone to false trigger at dawn and dusk.
Love it bu
Love this bell.
Unlike others no monthly extra fees, came with a choice of battery and wired connection.
We chose wired no need to fiddle with batteries!
Records nicely but there’s a delay and that’s why the rating.
Apart from that was easy set up, use the app to check and talk to visitors, different bell rings and volumes.
Wide recording view and I can even just check the area without any motion activated which is a bonus.
Different levels of motion can be set etc.
very pleased with my new video bell.
Happy with the purchase.
I think the device is worth the money, but as it is wired, would have liked to see if it could be improved by adding an electric lock.12vdc signal. That would make it even more valuable.
Said what it did
Very pleased although I had to have someone else to connect it + put up doorbell But picture quality is very good plus night visio
Much better than the battery versio
Much quicker response time when launch live view comparing to the battery version, also love the additional footage captured.
Useful doorbell camera but setting up 'AI' motion detection can be frustrating...
… as AI easily fooled. See the first photo above: every time a light coloured van goes past I get a ‘human alert’ because the juxtaposition of van, my car in drive and round tree canopy looks like a head and shoulders! Once I’d got it to ignore that it then decided (photo 2) that the top left of the image (wall/underside of bay roof/rose bush) was a ‘human’ hourly for a few days. After a couple of weeks of careful tweaking its finally settled down and started to recognise things properly. And on the whole it works well, picking up 97% of people approaching the door (but annoyingly steadfastly refuses to pick up one of our 3 usual postmen who *never* triggers an alert).
Overall it works well and for me, being wheelchair bound, not having to rush to get to the door is a bonus!
Quite good but not perfec
Motion sensors very hard to get just right. Kept picking up christmas lights and car wheels as people. However sometimes doesn’t detect the postman coming to the door.
It does not work with alexa/google as expected. Yes our echo dot can be used as a chime but inwas expecting i could get the doorbell to show up on the TV via a fire stick but it doesn’t.
Overall pretty good for the price and with no subscription I would still recommend this to people.
Subscription free high quality wired video doorbell
Every thing you need to install the doorbell comes in the box and there are several YouTube videos for this online, only problem is most are American based. This wired doorbell, if you’re planning on using your existing UK doorbell bell wiring requires an upgrade to 16-24 volts. I didn’t use the plug-in transformer provided in the box instead opting to replace the old existing doorbell chime and housed it’s incoming 240 volt power supply in a fused spur unit protected by a 3 amp fuse, I connected this to a British General doorbell transformer set to output 16 volts in a 2 module Wylex enclosure. I then connected the existing bell wire running to the old doorbell, swapped that for the new EIufy doorbell. It’s 3 weeks and it’s operating fine.
