Looks so easy to assemble until you try and put the guard on. Tip you need to remove the spool before you try to put the guard on, remove the spool, the guard fits right into place.

Not easy for me to put together, though it is apparently just a click assembly. It works really well though and is great to use. A bit heavy but that’s a workout for your arms!

A bit of a beast, a tad heavy but lays waste to weeds etc with ease. Amazingly essy to assemble with no fiddly screws. Love the lay down flat function.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis was tricky to assemble and heavy for an older lady to use. The start lever has to be squeezed very tightly for continuous use so I can only use this for a short time.
If you are a tall, strong person this might be fine but if not, maybe look for a lighter model.

Used this first time this morning.

Had to do the strimming in four sessions as my entire body was wracked with muscular exertion.

However I am determined to use it as the results were so good.

Looking on amazon later to get some bigger shirts to facilitate my expanded chest measurements.

Bought my second one of these after the wife managed to somehow smash the last one, I had bought a bosch one first but that was awful quality so I returned it and got another contour as the previous one lasted a few years before the wife destroyed it.
The contour has a good feel and does not get uncomfortable during long use, the only downside is the auto spool which often sticks the wire together and requires manual adjustment.

Quality of strimmer is fantastic as expected from Flymo it was a little fiddly to put together but does literally click together and once done very sturdy strong material I do think it’s a little bit heavy but that will reflect in the power I hope. I will update on the power. Over all highly recommended superb quality for the price

This is a very good strimmer , the only bad thing I can say is that the line breaks alot if it hits anything too thick , but that would happen with any line fed strimmer .

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFor the price this strimmer is great, quite short which might be a problem for tall people. The cable is a good length and powerful enough. The head is on a ball so it’s really easy to go from horizontal swimming to vertical edging. Have used it about 6 times now, there are two cutting cables, one always seems to get either a lot longer than the other so have to wind it back in after a while which can be a bit annoying, but over all I’m pleased with my purchase

Works well, good value for money. A bit awkward to stand up or store easily when not in use due to its shape and could do with cable hooks on it to wrap the cable around for easy storage but otherwise. . Not bad at all.

My first strimmer! Wasn’t sure what to expect but I had done lots of research and opted for this one. Though corded, the cable is long and I have an extension going from the shed, so no issues there. Does a great speedy job of edging and strimming. Really sharp edges (see pic) and I’m not disappointed with the product at all. May be a little bit weighty for some people and tight curves I found a little tricky, but with some more practice I should get there. The wheel allowing you to roll the edger along is brilliant.

Design is good and use to use. However, the trimmer line is awful it kept tangeling up and a 10 min job took 35 minutes as I had to keep untangeling the line and rewinding the cassette.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersAs people who know me will tell you, I am a very hard person to please. I also very rarely write positive reviews about things I buy, but this strimmer is genuinely so good that I felt compelled to write one.

But firstly, just to get them out the way, there are two slight negatives:

    1) The dead man switch is a little too firm to keep pressed down, and it does end up aching your hand every few minutes. People with less strength could struggle.

    2) The spool does occasionally need to be manually pulled through.

However, these are the only negatives I can find. The strimmer absolutely burned through our incredibly overgrown garden (the grass was almost a meter tall in places with weeds everywhere, tree stumps to navigate, big stones and bricks hiding underneath, and stone/fence edges too) and the machine didn’t use anywhere near as much nylon as I expected it to, and it easily stood up to every test.

Whilst the machine is slightly heavy – and you do have to switch arms every 5-10 minutes – the results are certainly worth the pain!

Genuinely didn’t expect the experience to be pleasurable, but it really was!

    Top marks, highly recommended!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFabulous stimmer, genuinely couldn’t be happier with it. After having purchased different brand previously, that turned out complete disaster, I really didn’t know what to expect, but my garden literally turned into a jungle, so I had to make a decision. Buying this one, was definitely a good one. I can’t really use lawn mower because my garden is super bumpy, so I was hoping that it’ll do the job. It certainly did. I’ve done both; front and back garden with it, and it dealt with even tallest grass (we’re taking around 50cm tall) without hesitation. It’s not particularly heavy, the only downside is safety button that you have to hold pressed all the time, but it depends how long you’re going to use it for. Long story short – great machine, and I definitely recommend.

Great strimmer.Being left handed i tend to find some things a bit difficult to use.But like most left handers we are very adaptable so i can cope with this strimmer. The only problem i found was the trigger that operates via finger pressure requires a excessive amount of pressure and feels a bit vague.I think a more positive on /off switch would be a good upgrade. Also is it possible to make a it easier for Left Handers to use maybe by building in different options when assembling it after purchase. In all all respects it is quiet powerful and ideal for the job

I purchased this strimmer in 2020. Yes, it looks good and works great but, here is why you should never buy this. The battery failed in 2021 despite minimal use. I contacted Amazon and received a new battery. Fast forward to 2022 and the battery has failed yet again! I’m just out of warranty and I cannot get a replacement battery. I have emailed Flymo to purchase said battery for this strimmer. I am yet to hear back from them! I now see that there are several of these strimmers on EBay for sale minus the battery. Purchase a different make. Unbelievable that I can’t get a new battery. As I said previously, do not buy this strimmer.

Surprisingly powerful at cutting weeds, and even moss off pavements.
The automatic feed means I can do the whole garden without having to stop to pull more line out. (Always been a real nuisance before).
The quick vertical flip button is very useful for trimming edges and along paths, although the wheel is only relevant for certain sunken edges, but its still much easier to hold vertically.
As long as you cut with the ends of the line, and cut gradually, it shouldn’t break.
    Very pleased with the Trimmer.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSpent ages reviewing all the poor reviews of many of these. Took a chance. Actually, I was quite pleased with it. The cord didn’t break and did the whole job of 4′ high grass of 144Sq ft (yes, it was that overgrown) and did the lot in under 20 mins. without any snaps or loss of cable.

Assembling it wasn’t bad, but it does need a little strength and the instructions aren’t brilliant. Its not something that can easily dis-assemble and put back in the box, you’ll have to switch the head sideways and store upright.

There is a cable handle near the top and by holding it an spinning it on its head you can wrap the cable around it. There is plenty of cable, so it takes a while to wrap it around.

I would say its not heavy to lift, but nevertheless after using it for 30 seconds, the low centre of gravity means that it does hurt your arms holding that weight off the ground for long periods..

I bought this as a Birthday present to myselfI’m really going all out this year! LOL.
    Now to serious me
I trust Flymo although there were many different and some other good brands to choose from. The great thing about this item is that you can also trim/neaten lawn edges by simply pressing a release button and turning the head. I haven’t tried this element yet, but plan to soon. It was relatively easy to assemble but I decided to watch a YouTube Flymo video of how it was put together which was easier to follow,in my opinion. I’m not young now and I found it a little heavy to use on the first attempt, but I think that having arthritis doesn’t help. The support handle is a necessity and a great help and once I got the hang of how to use the strummer I found it less heavy. Please understand this item isn’t heavy, just that I struggle slightly. I’m very pleased I bought it and would definitely recommendwhat I need now is for Flymo to brand it with a man as part of the package who can do the mowing and strumming for me

Not too happy with control button keeping it in on position. Weight not an issue. Feel it’s reliable.

I found the tiny diagrams for assembly not very helpful. So, I looked at further information on line. Once assembled and the battery charged. My first reaction is that it is very powerful and quickly cut the grass and any plants overhanging. In the edging mode it actually cleared rough edges and gave a straight line edge.
I have only used it once so far but will likely use it once a week from now on. The battery had a lot of its capacity left after I had finished. A good feature.
Was pleased to see the sensible advice not to leave the battery flat, especially during winter. I suggest that the charger and battery are kept indoors during winter with a charge every couple of months.

The strimmer was fairly easy to assemble although the diagrams were not straight forward. It was difficult to decide which was the right way up for the guard etc. This strimmer has a double ‘cord’ although this was not mentioned in the details. One cord works fine but the other keeps breaking so I have just given up on it and use a single cord only. It’s probably quicker than a pair of hand shears given the time I spent trying to get the second ‘cord’ to work.

A year ago I had bought a Wilkinson Sword branded strimmer in anticipation of the old Flymo’s demise but despite having a more powerful battery I found I preferred using the old Flymo until it finally gave up the ghost! The new Flymo is as easy to use as its predecessor and cuts much better. Only drawback – it is a bit tricky to assemble.

I had the battery version of this strimmer and although it worked fine, it now needed a new rechargable battery which cost way more than a new electric flymo strimmer would cost. So, I now have the electric model and I am delighted with the extra power and no worries about running out of charge (so less rush to get garden done before charge ran out!.)
I hate to give product only 2 stars for weight, but the question was asked…and it is heavy!!. Otherwise, I am very happy with new strimmer and would recommend to any fit and healthy gardener. I would buy another in the future as it does a great job and also edges the grass which is the benefit of this model and the one of the main reasons for purchase. To edge my lawn with edging scissors would take forever – with the flymo it is done in minutes!. Vey happy!

I like this trimmer however some may find it very heavy and difficult to use due to the weight. I suggest if you have issues with your hands or back you look for a lighter trimmer.

The edging is poor and can damage your lawn.

Already have corded version, this version very good without the nuisance of a mains cable. Easy to guide and gives very good edges to lawn. Very impressed. BUT assembly was a nightmare, supplied in many sections, carefully followed instructions, partway through found one end of the shaft connecting top handle to cutting unit had been supplied incorrectly by manufacturers. As one end already been locked by spring clip, it proved impossible to fit other end (spring loaded). Rang manufacturers to no avail, no help due to Coronavirus. It obviously would not go back in box in it’s half assembled state. However with a little intuition managed to rectify manufacturers error by brute force and undoing crimped fittings, took two adults to try and adjust height adjustment, again with brute force. I think I was unlucky. But now complete, very happy with my purchase.

I only needed a lightweight strimmer for a medium sized garden and this fit the bill. For the price, this is a good quality machine, easy to assemble and to operate. Time will tell, but it looks like it should last long enough for my needs. Obviously not as aggressive as a motor driven strimmer but cuts through most heavy grass with a bit of patience and light grass with ease. Would recommend.

I bought the previous model around 10 years ago and had no complaints until it finally stopped a few weeks ago .
I didn’t think twice about ordering a replacement newer model as the last one lasted for 10 years . The first thing I noticed was the weight it felt slightly heavier than the previous version but it’s still easy to use . Another new feature I’m not sure I like is the secondary cut off switch which is required to start the strimmer along with the squeeze handle .if it lasts as long as the previous version I will more than happy

I bought this strimmer as a replacement for a Bosch model (sadly, I don’t recall which one) which was incredibly noisy, not very effective and pretty soon developed an annoying habit of running out of cutting line every couple of minutes.

I’ve only used it once, but so far so good! It was easy to put together, feels light when you’re using it, and cuts neatly up to the side of raised beds. The line automatically feeds out to the right length when you bring it to a stop. No more banging on the ground to try and get some line dispensed. As long as it carries on behaving itself, I will be very happy!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHaving previously owned a Flymo Contour for 13 years & had good service from it, it decided to go into retirement (electric motor packed in). I had no hesitation what so ever about replacing it with the same type & model that had served me so well previously for so many years. Ordered on a Monday received on Wednesday (standard delivery) can’t complain about that. Put it to use straight away, hopefully I get the same kind of performance from this one as I had from my previous trimmer.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis strimmer is reliable & functions well. I didn’t want one that was so light that it didn’t last or so heavy that it was unwieldly & this fits the bill perfectly. Easy to use & is manoeuvrable. It is not much of a complaint but if I had one it would be that you need to disconnect the battery to recharge it my previous one had a connection in the garage & it automatically recharged when you hung it up. I am very pleased with this one

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBrilliant and Highly Recommended!
I was a bit nervous to purchase this following the prior reviews however, having bought this Electric grass Trimmer, I am extremely pleased! This maybe one of my favourite purchases for the garden yet.
    I have recommended this grass trimmer to a number of people for the following reasons;
    Clear and concise instructions
Easy to put together; the shield and cord are not attached during transport but very easy to do.
The strimmer is self is auto-feeding which means the length of the cord is always the correct length (if not- the clear instructions tell you how to make it do it for itself). Saving me from having to mess with it every time.
The length of the cable is long enough to cover most of the garden (10m cable, but I have a 60 foot + garden and this pretty much gets all over).
The head swivels, meaning that I am able to trim the grass against the fence, then can switch to cut the edging of the grass, saving me from getting the long arm scissors out/ half-moon edger and doing this manually.
It is very light weight and balanced weight, so it can be easily maneuverer around the garden without putting too much stress on your arms.
There is a shield to prevent the grass spraying out everywhere plus a wheel to use for rotation, creating a consistent edge the specific distance from the wall/ edges.
    It is mains operated
The wires are held across two moulded ‘hooks’ for storage

    Negatives:
The auto-feed failed on one occasion, resulting in me manually feeding the dual line, but this is only once (I have had this over a year now and used it on lots of occasions still only one fail).
The grass still can spray out even with the shield; wear long trousers to save little cuts on legs (from experience).
Read the instructions on how to ‘feed’ the cord (basically switch it on/ off a couple of times until you hear a change in the sound).

Overall; for the price a brilliant purchase. Saves time and gives a clean edge to all borders, light and easy to use. Lots of positives for this Grass Edge Trimmer.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOK for light trimming. The line is a bit fragile and soon breaks off. Use only for edging and trimming lawns. Otherwise it’s not bad. The line it uses is 1.5 mm diameter. Pound Shop do a 1.6mm line which I’m waiting to try out. It might last a little bit longer. One moan is the hard to hold in safety trigger which tires you thumb after a while. I’ve ended up screwing it closed with a small self tapper. (Tut tut)
