    It is heavy compared to other cordless iv had. And maneuvering around tight spaces actually made my wrist ache.
    Seems very sturdy though.
    And it does pick up everything.
    Does pick a rug up off the floor on high setting.
    We have a black hallway rug that is always in need of hoover and this hoover makes it look brand new again. So far all good. They just never stay that way do they!!!!

    I love the ease of picking up a vacuum and zooming around the floors as a quick tidy up. This is perfect for our tiled kitchen and picks up everything. The head is great at moving around the edges and corners of all the cabinets. But it gets very quickly clogged if using on carpets and means you spend ages taking it apart and cutting out all the turned up wool.

    I purchased this in September 2019. The main base is fine but the other attachments are fiddly to use. This is particularly so because the machine is heavy.
    Initially the suction is excellent but the dust box fills up very quickly and if you don’t empty it you get a blockage. Also the filters need cleaning very regularly (which means washing and allowing to dry for at least 24 hours in the airing cupboard) or the suction drops off dramatically. If the narrow pipe leading to the dust box gets blocked it is a pain to unblock and you have to be careful not to cause any damage. I have found another vacuum cleaner to be the safest way of doing this sucking backwards with nothing attached. I bought the full range of attachments as an extra and they are worthwhile.
    Pros: suction, manoeuvrability, long cleaning time, fast charge
    Cons: blockages, difficulty of using attachments, need to use base station to charge which takes up room, tendency to topple over.

    a very good product, a real vacuum cleaner … but cordless. The battery last enough to clean properly an apartment at full power. Many useful accessories to clean from floor to ceiling. Much better than my previous Dyson !

    This has amazing power for its size. easily matching many mainstream bagless cleaners. It’s a futuristic looking machine that has a very small footprint when being stored. But its biggest selling point is its versatility, it is just amazing. The machine height itself can be adjusted, so that a very tall person can move it around it as easily as a petite user.
    There’s no need to prop it against a surface and then watch it topple over, it’s so perfectly balanced that it stands up on its own.
    Getting it set up ready to use out of the box wasn’t difficult. The instruction leaflet is purely graphical, with clear pictures. There is an oddity, in that the accessory holder has a plastic cap that has to be popped out with a screwdriver, I haven’t figured out why.
    There’s a beautiful cool white light that displays when it is charging, and this takes just six hours.
    Some of the features are very innovative. the main body slides up the stick to allow you to move the head under furniture easily in use.
    It picks up really well, it’s amazing for a stick cleaner. I have a corded cleaner that is more powerful, but that one has been known to lift carpet tiles.
    The capacity is good, it’s not enormous, but you wouldn’t expect that for a machine with a slim profile like this.
    Crucially for a powerful machine, it is light. As a disabled person I would recommend this to any other users with disabilities, for its weight, accessible on – off button, and long cleaning time.
    Genuinely probably the best machine I have ever owned.

    PROS
    – Strong suction – our last vacuum was weak here, and it is great to have one that actually lifts things rather than you going over and over it, then getting fed up and bending down to pick up whatever it is!
    – variable speed for different floor types, rather than the ‘open a valve’ system, or ‘put brushes down’ system. (Reduce suction for carpets and rugs)
    – Compact body – and it can move up and down the handle to enable you to reach under furniture
    – Light – great to take out to use on the car. easy to hold and hoover. More versatile than the standadrd large vacuum. More powerful than the standard hand-held.
    – Extendable handle adjusts to taller people – no more sore back after hoovering!
    – the light on suction head makes dust very easy to see – a shadow cast by debris
    – great manoeuvrability – a twist of the wrist turns the whole thing easily
    – Cordless – no more unplugging or straining against a fully extended cable
    – Head comes off, and can be replaced with brush or nozzle to allow you into tight corners.
    – Easy to empty dust unit (with caveat – see below)

    CONS
    – Head is not very wide so doesn’t cover as wide an area at a time.
    – Long hair gets tangled around the stem in the dust collector – actually had to cut it out with scissors! I have a wife and three daughters all with long hair! This slows down the emptying process

    The first “upright” vacuum cleaner dates back to 1908 and it is safe to say that the concept of vacuuming and the design of the hoover has changed and evolved hugely over more than one hundred years.

    These days there is an almost insane variety of vacuums on the market all with differences in size, shape, colour and features. A vacuum nowadays needs to be more than a vacuum. It needs to be versatile, adaptable and flexible for modern day living. A rather recent addition to the “history” of hoovers is the addition of powerful cordless models which have bloomed in popularity within the past few years.

    That brings me to this item for review the “AEG FX9-1-4ST Ultimate Cordless Main Cleaner” which maybe not be the most inspired name however if the name is the only thing I could find to fault then I would have been happy.

    The manufacture’s claim that this is the “ultimate cordless main cleaner” is a bold one however the features on offer suggest that there is something special to be found. The FX9 offers three different cleaning modes with adjustable suction power (I’ll do my best not to make a pun here). This was a good feature as it makes it adaptable to all different cleaning needs from carpets and floors to solid surfaces, spills of solids of even to get into all the nooks of your car.

    This model is charged up from the mains (via a self-standing floor dock) then runs on battery with the quoted runtime being 60 minutes. First charge I got a little more than that, second time I got a little less so it appears to be pretty actuate and long enough for even the bigger jobs.

    It has an adjustable height of up to 120cm so should be suitable for all heights of users. I would describe the entire unit as being mid-weight, it’s not the lightest but there are plenty of heavier models on the market. Anyone with mobility issues or lack of physical strength should still find this easier to use when compared to a conventional hoover. It comes with a smart tool that changes into three different tools which can be used to hoover around skirting boards or picture frames. This tool was alright however it was nothing special in my opinion, perhaps a tool you would use infrequently.

    The proof is in the pudding and this is where the FX9 comes into a league of its own. It is easy to use and very effective as a vacuum cleaner. The powerful section was clear as it cleared every surface I tried it on and because of the design of the head it can easily fit under furniture, can be used on stairs without much difficulity and to the very edge of walls. Thankfully it was also easy to empty and more to the point it didn’t result in a messy dust cloud when doing so.

    In terms of design, quality and performance there is very little that I could find to fault – this is pretty much as good as a vacuum can be.

    The only sticking point and the point I have a slight problem with is that price. Currently at just over four hundred pound (with a RRP of nearly five) there is no denying the fact that this is an expensive utility. While it works very well and preforms well, you could still buy a conventional hoover (corded) for less than one hundred pounds or a different cordless model for about two hundred (half the price of the FX-9). It is a personal decision if you feel it is worth the cost – if the price drops under four hundred it will offer more value for money. If you decide it is worth the investment then you will be very happy with the results.

    I had a cordless vacuum before but it lacked much suction and the battery life was poor. also the suction reduced as the battery power reduced. This has none of those problems. It is so easy to use and it is very manoeuvrable. The led lights on the front help to show up the dirt, particularly works well with pet hair on wooden floors. The suction is very strong and being bagless is great. The dirt chamber is easily visible and easy to empty and reload on the handle. The only drawback is when using the included additional head. If you pull back on it, such has when pulling the vacuum toward you on the sofa, the head can pop off as the hose attachment built in pulls out. This is not a major problem. Overall it is very impressive. Good strong suction, very easy to use and the battery life is enough to do a full clean in one charge. The docking/charging station is easy to plonk the unit back into after use to recharge it ready for next time. Very pleased with it.

    Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is a stylish and modern vacuum that’s been designed innovatively by AEG. When opening the box, I was a bit surprised to see a single brush tool (along with the main cleaning head) until I realised it was actually a clever 3-in-1 Smart Tool which can be used as a dusting brush, crevice tool, and upholstery tool. Another well thought out feature is the hose inside the vacuum can actually pull out and stretch a small distance so you can vacuum upholstery and shelves using the smart tool. This means there’s no extra hose hanging off like many other vacuums. Other features included a front headlight, height adjustable handle and Flex Slide System which means you can move the main motor up so you can get under furniture. It is also self-standing.

    One of the most important things when buying a vacuum is its weight…and unfortunately, this is fairly heavy. It would appear the extra weight is due to AEG using a higher capacity battery which extends cleaning time to 1 hour. However, it’s only heavy to pick up, and not so much of an issue when pushing the vacuum around – it’s actually quite agile. My mum, who’s in her late 60’s, did mention the heavier weight but it wasn’t enough to deter her from using it, although she still prefers to use the Dyson V8 (as that is very lightweight). I quite like the V8 for its weight, but it’s not really a vacuum you can use for a good clean as it just doesn’t last long enough (generally, only 20-30 mins).

    Performance of this vacuum is probably the best I’ve used so far. I usually keep this on normal suction power for general cleaning and very rarely need to use the highest suction mode. So far, I’ve tested this on Laminate, Carpet, and Vinyl – and it picks up really well on all of these surfaces. It’s much better than the Dyson V8. Battery life is exceptional and I don’t have to do a speed clean as I do with the Dyson.

    Overall, I agree with AEG’s naming of this vacuum – It is the ultimate rechargeable vacuum cleaner and the very best I’ve used so far.

    Having had Dysons and Mieles historially we are used to pretty strong machines that get the job done. Our most recent purchase of the cordless dyson has been sadly a huge disappointment as although the unit is light, the power has been variable nad we have had various faults with the unit we had. Anyway I digress, I hadn’t really clocked AEG as a maker of vacuum cleaners before but have used their products mainly in the form of kitchen equipment and loved the quality and engineering. This is no different.
    Assmebly : It was very easy to assemble – the instructions it came with confused me a little but then I worked it out, a few clicks later and you have your unit standing on its stand charging and ready to go.
    Use : The vaccum is unbelievably powerful – so much so that I had to turn down the suction level as it was sticking to come of our rugs, but it really does clean well. It is however a pretty heavy unit and I did have some difficulty in maneovering it , and I am not particularly weak, so this probably isn’t a good gift for your elderly relative who has arthritis.
    Looks : It looks fabulous and doesnt have to hide away in a cupboard, with its sleek gunmetal grey colour

    Emptying the chamber was straightforward enough, and the a full charge does give you the run of about 45-80 minutes depending on power level so It can do most homes with one. I wonder whether this may dwindle over time.
    Reach – theoretically you can use this to get to hard places but in my umble opinion it is a little to heavy for this despite not really being that bulky.
    I personally loves this and now have a reason to do more bicep work at the gym…..or pal off the hoovering to someone else at home.

    This is quite simply the best vacuum cleaner I’ve ever owned. It looks the business and has really powerful motors which have variable speed settings easily changed by a button on the handle.

    It glides around pretty effortlessly although on the highest power setting its really powerful and I do find myself having to exert a serious amount of effort to lug it around carpet if the power is on max as it is sucking very powerfully! Its got a handy LED light at the bottom that lights the way – useful when hoovering underneath furniture which, by the way, this is a breeze to do with this vaccum – the handle extends and the dust tank slides down the pole getting nicely out of the way!

    The dust tank isnt the biggest so you will find yourself emptying more than usual (I would say it gets emptied only ever so slightly more than the Dyson cordless we have) and it comes supplied with a charging base you simply sit the vacuum into and it charges – much more efficient and tidier than trying to plug a cable in every time!

    The thing does feel a little weighty for a portable vacuum when compared to others I have used in the past but I dont really mind that – gives the feel of a solid build.

    Sure its expensive and thats the only real downside – but you really do get what you pay for here.

    I had a previous battery vacuum which was a disaster, heavy , unwieldy and with poor suction and batteries which you had to take out to charge of which 2 out of 3 failed in 3 months.

    This is pleasingly the opposite. It is still quite heavy – the battery necessitates that. But it is a neat and practicable design, runs easily over carpets and wood floors and is extremely effective. I was impressed that on giving the kitchen and living room a once over the dust container was half full of muck, most of which appeared to come from the living room carpets (which superficially appeared clean).

    it comes with a charging stand which allows it to sit unobtrusively in a corner of the room, always ready for action. taking off and emptying the dust container is easy and not messy. I had to take the spinning thing (its Dyson type technology) out to remove all the long hairs wound around it which is shade fiddly, but easy enough once you’ve seen how to do it (you pull it straight out).

    there are brush nozzles you can use instead of the standard head. I think the weight of the main body would make these a little cumbersome, but haven’t actually tried it yet. One gripe (hardly unique) is the lack of instructions. There is a “quick start ” guide but the instructions need downloading. a book would be much more useful and at this price not unreasonable to expect i

    This is the best cordless hoover I have tried, has fantastic cleaning ability and great useful accessories .
    Ideal for my house with its combination of carpets, lamianate , men and pets.
    It’s so versatile to use, manipulated into all sorts of corners and has every attachment needed , getting into the stairs, sofas , under tables and corners well. It also has a refillable bag and nice charging unit . Charge wise cordless don’t last as long but this is so easy to use that I found the battery lasted 50 minutes no problems .
    Overall I’m hugely impressed and would highily recommend .

    I was looking forward to finally using a high end vacuum cleaner and I wasn’t disappointed. It was easy to use and the instructions are very straight forward with not a lot of reading to get through. This AEG is very light and easy to manoeuvre straight from carpet to floor without pressing buttons to switch this operation. It is also very easy to empty. I have a bungalow so to clean the house you might have to empty a couple of times but it’s no big deal as it’s so straight forward.

    The lack of a cable to keep tripping over was a big plus and, owning a dog, I was amazed how much hair it picked up. The handle is well designed as you can adjust it to your height, and the on and off button is right were you can reach it on the handle. Also the cylinder can be lifted so you can get right under furniture with no effort.

    My only complaint is that it didn’t work properly on my bedroom carpet – it just wouldn’t glide over the thicker pile in there – but other rooms had no problem. All in all this is a very capable vacuum cleaner that I would easily recommend to anyone that can stretch to the slightly high asking price.

    I have quite a challenging flat for vacuums. Two bedrooms, lots of nooks and crannies, two cats – one long haired, some steps, and both hard and soft flooring. AEG tout the FX9 as the ultimate cordless vacuum – how does it hold up in real life?

    DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY:
    =======================
    This is a stylish vacuum with an industrial design philosophy more reminiscent of sleek spaceships and plasma rifles than traditional hoovers. curves in chrome and high quality black plastic strike a nice balance between looks and utility – the handles offer good grip and the controls are tactile.

    If you’ve watched the product video up at the top of the page you’ll have noticed that the FX9 has a bunch of tricks up its sleeve to help you access dirt in awkward places. It’s possible to extend the hose and use it in conjunction with the precision cleaning tool/brush for shelves and the like – very useful for us. you can also move the body of the machine up to allow for a thinner extension, allowing for cleaning under low places like coffee tables. I found this latter feature particularly useful: no need to shift furniture or get the extension hose out in a lot of circumstances.

    The stand is minimalist and almost invisible when the vacuum is on it. It includes a storage slot for the 3-in-1 tool. See the attached picture.

    The power button and suction controls are near the top handle – easy to see and use. Adjusting the height of the telescopic tube is easy and, as advertised, the vacuum does stand up on its own when you need to take a break. My one quibble is that there doesn’t seem to be a way to attach the 3-in-1 tool to the vacuum itself. In general, though, I can’t fault the UX.

    PERFORMANCE:
    =============
    Suction seems pretty similar to my wired Shark vacuum, which is remarkable. The rotary brush helps a lot with getting cat hair off carpet. There’s no specific setting for hard floor, carpet etc, but you can control the level of suction and it’s easy to get a feel for what’s required where.

    Despite the large battery, the vacuum feels light and easy to handle. In terms of luggability, it’s the best cordless vacuum I’ve used. It glides smoothly over the floor and it’s light and ergonomic enough to make cleaning above floor level easy. I weighed the unit and it comes in at about 4kg, which is a lot more than the spec sheet claims – possibly it’s only including the body?

    The floor cleaning head is a bit smaller than most wired vacuums I’ve used, which leads to a little more movement required to capture the floor area. I’m going to assume that’s a weight compromise. Just like the small waste canister.

    On the subject of the waste canister – long pet hair seemed to have a tendency to get stuck in the upper section, making it quite tricky to remove. I got around this by preemptively emptying the canister, but it’s not great. If there’s a way to open the top of the canister, I’d love to know.

    BATTERY LIFE:
    ===========
    The stated hourlong battery life is accurate. I can clean my flat quite thoroughly on one charge, with a little bit to spare. The speed level used and the age of the battery will probably impact duration.

    OVERALL:
    ========
    I’m impressed with the FX9’s performance for its weight. It feels great to use – lightweight and adjustable to a great degree – and it offers solid performance. It can definitely take the place of a cheaper wired vacuum, while bringing a significant quality of life improvement in terms of mobility. My main complaint is that emptying the waste canister can be more of a hassle than it should.

    Impressive mobility and performance

    This vacuum may be little but it has loads of power and suction. Easily put together in 5 minutes including the charger unit, I left it for the requested 24 hours before using it and was very surprised at just how much suction there was in it. I have both hard and carpeted floors and it worked really well on both. Sometimes I end up pushing bits around on hard floors rather than sucking them up but this was straight to it.

    I wouldn’t say it was lightweight but it is fine for me maybe if you have difficulties lifting a weight you should look into this first. The cylinder does get in the way a little when trying to go under things but this is a very small negative as far as I am concerned.

    So, so far so good. I will be using it all weekend so I will update if needed.

    So a quick update. Power is constant, no dip in suction so very pleased with that. One small negative. It is not easy to empty the cylinder. It works in a similar way as the Dyson but the button to open it is at the bottom where the dust comes out, also I have found that the dust needs a little encouragement to come out which is not so good.

    The other negative is…..my dogs are not scared of it!! I know this sounds good but one of them just barks like mad at it and drives me mad. Was better when she just ran. However this leads onto a positive as it is quieter than a lot of vacuums.

    All in all I am really pleased with i

    We’d given up on a popular brand beginning with D (gave them a lot of chances) and have a lovely Miele which is great. We were looking for a handheld for a place with little storage and the FX9 has been perfect for us.

    After a night of charging (the curse of our times!) we got to work and found it pulled up a lot of dirt that the D had missed. The dust box was filled quickly but this was on the first go, since then it only needs to be emptied every time (I wouldn’t want to leave dust in it, but that is just me).

    It is fairly light, even when using above the curtain rail. Runtime lasts beyond our regular clean time and we charge after each use. I really like the lack of cord which drives me mad, particularly on the stairs.

    Lots of tools, all you will need.

    Not a cheap item but it feels very robust and gives the impression it is built to last.

    Impressed and would recommend

    What AEG offer here is a vacuum cleaner that tries to be everything. Let’s go through some positives and negatives:-

    POSITIVES

    – Quite powerful. It has two power settings – the low setting is adequate for fairly light work, and the high setting.

    – The ability to raise the motor/dirt-bin combination means you can use the vacuum effectively under low furniture.

    – With the handle short the vacuum becomes ‘carriable’ – good for stairs and so on.

    – Remove the maim vacuum head, and your reveal a built-in extendable tube, to which you can attach the multi-purpose hand tool.

    – The charging stand is neat and functional.

    – The dirt-bin is easy to remove and empty, in fact it empties easier than my Dyson V9.

    – The built-in light is effective. Bright enough to be a genuine asset when light is low or you’re vacuuming dark corners.

    NEGATIVES

    – It is CONSIDERABLY heavier than my Dyson V9, which gives largely comparable levels of suction.

    – It doesn’t actually give you much more than my Dyson V9 gives, but gives it in a different way. Instead of removable tools and extension tubes on a basically simple cleaner, this AEG unit tries to do the same stuff through complexity of the unit. The result is extra, and to my mind unnecessary, weight.

    – The 3-in-1 hand tool (crevice nozzle/wide nozzle/brush) is, like the rest to be honest, trying to be ‘too clever’. You’d be better served by three simple, one purpose tools

    CONCLUSION – It’s a good vacuum cleaner. In fact it’s an EXCELLENT vacuum cleaner. It’s clever. It looks good. It does the job…

    BUT (and it’s a big but) is it sunstantially better than my old Dyson? No – not really, despite being significantly more expensive. In some ways (such as weight and complexity) the Dyson actually has the edge.

    Will I use it? Yes.

    Would I pay the price asked to actually BUY it? No – I’d go for the simpler, lighter Dyson.

    It’s good – it’s very good – but for that price it should be UTTERLY, UNBELIEVEABLY INCREDIBLE, and sorry, it isn’t THAT good.

    There’s a lot to like about this versatile vacuum cleaner, but there are a few niggles.

    Good points:
    – the build quality is very good and it should last for years;
    – the suction is good — excellent for hard floors and pretty good on carpet, but not as effective on carpet as my old plug-in Dyson or Vax uprights;
    – it is relatively quiet
    – it’s very versatile and works well as an upright, a stick vacuum and a hand-held;
    – adjusting and changing between different modes of use is well-designed and simple;
    – battery life is good (after a couple of charge/discharge cycles) and the claim of 1 hour seems right to me;
    – the charging stand is small, neat and works very simply;
    – the “headlights” are very handy in dark corners and under furniture.

    Not so good:
    – the manual is pictures only, with no written instructions at all. This is not really sufficient — for example, I had to read another review here to find out how to use the 3-in-1 tool as an upholstery brush. (The crevice tool opens out, just in case you have the same problem.) I really needed more;
    – it is quite heavy for use as a hand-held, and a little awkward to use as the tension in the hose is quite strong;
    – the waste canister is quite small, so needs to be emptied more frequently than I’d like.

    Overall, I like this cleaner. Despite the minor flaws, I find it easy to use and effective. It’s a significant investment, but it’s good and should last for a long time. Recommended.

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is an amazingly powerful vacuum cleaner, and not just compared to plug-in versions. On maximum power you can find this difficult to push around, as it is literally sucking itself onto the floor.

    A good test for any hoover is to vacuum a room you’re already done with your old one, in my case a fairly elderly Dyson. The AEG filled it’s dirt chamber for this test! It’s really very very good at it’s core job of sucking stuff up.

    Battery powered hoovers are brilliant, and so much easier to use than plugged in versions, but until I’d tried this one they were never quite as good as ‘proper’ vacuum cleaners. I think AEG has closed the gap with this model. They’ve also clearly thought about the annoyances of cordless hoovers – they are usually a pain to keep charged up, you lose the charging cable, and they fall over. This AEG comes with a charging stand, so you have it fully charged at all times. If you choose to keep it in a cupboard, rather than the charger, when you’re not using it, then it stands up! My current cordless attacks you every time you open the cupboard door, as it falls over – the AEG will stand upright on its own. A small thing, but so much better. Note though that you do need to use the stand to charge it up – there isn’t an option to plug it in directly if you prefer that.

    If you choose to keep it ‘on display’ as it were in the charger, the whole vacuum slides together into a more compact package so as to be more discreet. Charging is pretty quick – the instructions say to charge it for 24hours before first use, but I’m far too impatient for that, and an hours charging gave me enough power for a quick whip-around a couple of rooms. A full charge easily does a big sized house.

    In use, it’s great. Slide out the handle to a height that suits you, and press the power button. You can adjust the power on the fly with a +/- button, so if you’re swapping from rugs to hard floor you can just do this as you go.
    The dirt chamber and main body of the hoover can be adjusted up and down to give you extra reach under object, or to adjust the balance to your preference. There are headlights, which are wonderfully anachronistic and remind me of my grandma’s 1950 hoover, but are actually a great idea – they cast shadows which clearly show you which bits you’ve missed. Emptying the chamber is easy, it unclips with a button, and then you just empty it over the bin. Unlike some hoovers, it’s hard to accidentally empty the chamber when you remove it from the body – no more dumping the contents over the floor when you press the wrong catch. The chamber is quite small though, but that is the trade-off you get for a cordless.

    Build quality is excellent, this can certainly take being bashed about. It is quite heavy, especially if you’re using the extending hose which requires holding it with one hand, but it’s quite well balanced so this isn’t too much of an issue but if you struggle with lifting things this might not be for you. Note though that you have to carry it to use this hose, you can’ t just leave the body ‘parked’ as it were while you stretch it out. It comes with a single attachment, which was disappointing until I realised this is multi-purpose and can be used in three ways. The brush nozzle is great for dusting skirting boards and getting rid of cobwebs in dark corners.

    This is a great hoover, AEG have clearly thought very carefully about this one and dealt with the more common limitations of cordless vacuums. Absolutely excellent, and highly recommended.

    AEG has a good brand which I associate with quality – although this is my first AEG hover. The main plus point I think is the battery life at an hour is impressive. What is less impressive is the small dust collector – which you will end up emptying about every 10 minutes. You also pay a price in the extra weight – if you have any weakness in your hands or wrists I fear that this will not work well for you. That is a problem generally with these full suction cordless, but this is worse than a Samsung Powerstick (which is currently showing at about 300 quid) or the VAX blade which is the lighteset of all and has a bigger dust chanmber.

    This needs a 24 hour charge up before you can use it – but the top ups are much quicker thereafter. It was easy to assemble and the tools are OK – but it doesn’t have a turbo brush – so may not be ideal if you have hair shedding pets. I found it difficult to use on the stairs – but in other situations it works well.

    Overall this is a decent if not particulalry exciting machine. I expect ot will be heavily discounted to make it competitive with the samsung. I would choose the samsung over this one.

    Holy heck, probably the best cordless vacs I ever owned!

    The unit arrives already assembled, you simply have to unpack it, remove the safety tapes and slot in the vacuum head and you’re ready to go. There’s a small 5 min charge in the battery just to check it’s working but it does need a full charge. It took about 90 mins to get a full charge, very impressive!

    I live in a fairly typical 3-bed semi and we have a mixture of hardwood flooring downstairs and all carpet in the bedrooms, so plenty of testing terrain.

    Hardwood floors. Worked brilliantly, the detachable head has a set of headlights on it so you can immediately see what’s lurking under various pieces of furniture, I found it useful to dim the lights and then the vacuum’s headlights showed every nasty piece of hair and grit everywhere and it was easy to ensure you’d go the lot. I did find however that it sometimes struggled to pull up larger pieces of detritus like small pieces of card and paper but that could have been me in a rush. Let me say, this thing can suck and I only had it on suction level 2 of the 3 suction levels, I had to stand on the hall mats in order to keep it moving it locked on and wouldn’t let go!

    Carpets. It almost pulling up the carpet it’s got so much suction! I had to adjust the motor unit position in order to control it and be able to keep it moving. It pulled up so much detritus from the carpets, hair, grit and heaven knows what that our old mains cleaner seemed to have missed on previous runs.

    The collection canister is quite small, I had to empty it twice over 5 rooms, hall and landing but that’s obviously a compromise you have to put up with for the mobility. It’s very easy to move around on the floor, the head swivels very easily and easily gets into to the darker nooks. One great thing is that the main body slides up and down, the handle extends upwards and then the main body travels up and down the shaft so you can leave it close to the floor when it’s easy all pull it upwards when the going gets tougher to give you more control, very well designed part of the cleaner.

    When you get to those parts where the head won’t reach, click the lower eject button and the head drops off and you simply pull out the vaccum tube and push it into those hard to reach areas, or you can simply eject the head, pull the body up and push the nozzle into the edges under cupboards and door edges.

    The collection canister ejects off the body so easily with one button, then you empty it. The middle shaft inside the canister can be pulled out. I live with two long haired ladies and a cat, there’s plenty of hair gets wrapped around that middle canister part, simply pull it out and untangle the hair into the bin.

    I do have to add one more thing though. When you first unpack it looks like a gun from a video game, I had great fun posing with it like I was some of space ray gun that was until my wife said, “If this is what it takes to get you to vaccum the house, a cleaner that looks like a space gun then we should have got you one year’s ago!”, that quickly put a stop to the posing!

    This is the most amazing vacuum! I’ve had a few cordless vacuums, including a Dyson ,though that was the worst vacuum I’ve ever had: eternally blocked!

    This is amazing: lightweight, smooth ride, glides over my carpets and wooden floor and has great suction. This is ideal for me, with three kids, two cats and a dog! It has at least an hour use and charges quickly. Some great attachments for the stairs etc.

    Highly recommended!

    I’ve had about fifteen vacuum cleaners in my life, including three cordless. I’ve also been a house keeper in a stately home. Sadly, I know a lot about machines that suck stuff up. My verdict on this AEG is: 10 stars. It’s incredibly well made, compact yet powerful and punchy, telescopic and left handed light. And it floats from edge to edge and costs a penny an hour to charge. No messing round and tripping over, washable filters, really easy on the eye too. I didn’t think a hand-held could do this. There’s no loss of power, 60 minutes means 60 minutes. I can’t yet say if it’s reliable but when someone will come to your door and fix it if it goes wrong you know you’re onto something good. This is worth it’s weight in gold. No drawbacks I can think of.

    I was delighted to be offered the chance to trial this product. This comes in parts that are easy to assemble and clip into place.

    The vacuum requires a charge for 24 hours before first use.

    Once I had charged the vacuum overnight and started to use it, I realised just how bad my current hoover has been performing, because the suction on this was very good and I could see on instant difference in my carpet, with it pulling debris from my carpet much easier than my current model. I have four pets and their hair gets everywhere, so I regularly have to hoover up, but hair is sometimes tough to pull up, but this easily removed it in one sweep of the vacuum over the area. I was amazed by the difference and how much more it cleaned my carpet, working well on both my medium and short pile carpets, as well as being able to use it on a tiled or floor for a once over in the kitchen.

    The biggest issue I have is that the canister for collecting the dirt and debris is so small, so if like me, you have larger rooms, you have to empty it a couple of times per room at least.

    Each charge lasts around an hour before needing a ‘re charge.

    The hoover does feel quite heavy when holding it up to use it to clean shelving or ceilings/coving. Although it does have an extendable pipe, you still need to hold it up to reach higher places.

    Overall I am very happy with it though, compared to my usual brand, which is clearly past it’s use by date.

    This is the most incredible looking piece of cleaning kit I have ever had. Beautifully styled, incredibly well thought through and incredibly effective when it comes to cleaning.

    It was even easy to put together. The instruction booklet was not brilliant and there was one of those code things you are supposed to use on your mobile phone but ignored that.

    We live in a three storey Victorian house with a mixture of wooden floors, carpets and rugs. Oh and stairs, lots of stairs. It did the whole house on one charge.

    Picks up cat hairs brilliantly. Coped with the different surfaces. The only thing not to like is the price, and, I thought it was quite heavy. It certainly is when you are trying to remove dust from the top of curtains.

    Love the way it goes under the sofa. Definitely think that will help keep the moths away.

    Up until now we have had a cylinder and an upright to cope with the different surfaces. With this we will not need to. Oh and Ilike the way AEG are using a man to demonstrate and showcase what the machine does!

    There are a fair number of accessories including two air freshener type things, lemon or rose. I now quote from the AEG site ‘Revitalise your home with an burst of citrus freshness. The s-fresh range has been created to fragrance your home whilst cleaning, giving you not only a clean home but a lovely scented one too! Easy to use, simply open the sachet, scatter the granules on the floor and vacuum them up or just insert granules in the vacuum bag if you have a bagged cleaner.’ How strange is that.

    Beautiful and effective

    I love a hoover that is free and not held down by a cord. Great performance wise and seemed to work on both hard wood floor and carpet really well. Easy to adjust the height with an easy slip and lock method. Simple to empty and handy to take out filter to clean. My only neg is it comes with a floor charging system not wall mounted which means it takes up floor space. Still a fab hoove

    Only just tried this so my review is really a ‘first thoughts’ one.
    Easy to set up out of the box. Mine arrived about 90% charged so I could use it immediately. Does it vacuum well? I’ll say it does. It’s realtively quiet and cleans well on both wood and carpetted floors. I like the way it comes apart for stairs etc. It becomes what I can best describe as a light weight, hand held cylinder cleaner which works as well as does the main cleaner. There’s a variable suction controller for cleaning more delicate fabrics like curtains and comes with all the tools you’ll need for cleaning crevases and for where a longer reach is necessary.
    Like most vacuums, it’s not quite perfect (it’s advertised as being able to clean under furniture but the cylinder gets in the way) so not quite reaching a 5 star rating but, by crikey, it’s awful close

    =========================
    UPDATE AFTER A WEEK OF USE
    =========================
    So blown away by power that I’ve upgraded my review from a 4 to 5 stars. At the lowest power setting, it’s so quiet yet sweeps up everything from the wooden floors and, set to auto, and it changes speed as it encounters a carpet or mat then switches back again when back on the wood floor.
    This is better than most wired cleaners (very noisy in comparison) and definitely highly recommended
