GK61 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard – 61 Keys Multi Color RGB Illuminated LED Backlit Wired Programmable for PC/Mac Gamer (Gateron Optical Red, Black)
GK61 is a standard-sized 60% keyboard featuring RGB backlighting, USB-C wired connection, and optical switches . The USB-C cable is detachable for convenience of portability.
Optical switches are much more durable than conventional mechanical keyboard switches and are rated for 100 million keystrokes.
They have a high actuation point of 1.5mm for fast response. Light Strike optical switches utilize a horizontal infrared beam which is transmitted across the width of the inner keyswitch.
The infrared beam is normally blocked from reaching a sensor across from it by the stem. Once a switch is pressed, the switch stem no longer blocks the infrared beam and the beam is detected by the sensor, which activates the switch.
Due to the optical mechanism, an optical switch has an extremely fast response time of 0.2ms, which means faster reactions in those times where timing is critical, such as when gaming.

I already had a few keyboard but none were really good and still more expensive than this one.
-Doesn’t take much space on my desktop
-Despite the limited amount of keys, it is very easy to understand and customize.
-Most satisfying feel I’ve ever had, each touch feels like pressing little marshmallows due to the very little effort required to press the keys. Excellent for gaming, especially in games where you need to press tons of keys.
-Super silent, I can game at night without making my family cry in despair
I never excepted it to be THIS good. In fact I can’t even find a single flaw.
It is a pretty neat, clean keyboard its definetly gonna be an upgrade from my old hyperx alloy fps full sized keyboard, because im a fairly competitive player for a few games and my mouse always hits the keyboard but hopefully this fixes it, worth money
To be honest i don’t know what I expected but when I received it my first thought was “I thought it’d be bigger”. I didn’t see any mention of the size (it’s 29cm by 10 cm btw). Still a very pretty keyboard, bought it cuz it was the first LED gaming keyboard I’ve seen in purple.
eally good keyboard except the driver is not the best. at first when i was downloading it the website was all chinese writing and i thought it was a little sketchy but i researched it and it was the actual website so i downloaded it and sometimes the rgb won’t change but either than that it’s a very good keyboard
I bought the Gateron Brown ones. The only objective negative I found its the keycaps and its stabilization. The ABS keycaps aren’t as sturdy as PBT ones and the keys wobbles a bit. Doesn’t affect its performance but does feel cheap. RGB is great. Arrow keys can be permanently switched on. Gap between keys is appreciated. Great for gaming and typing.
The subjective negative is that brown switches aren’t good at feedback. The bump you feel is very slight, plasticky, feels almost like annoying pothole on the road rather than a good bump. Compared to metallic ‘click’ from the blues, these feel nothing. My light fingers could only feel them while I typed slowly, not while gaming nor while typing fast. And its not “silent” you will hear the “clack” when the plastic keycap hits the plastic base when pressed hard, present in every keyboard, which does make loud noise. The only silence is there is no metallic click sound.
I wished I could have gotten the red coloured version (not the switches, actual keyboard) but looks like they’re low on stock.
I love how compact it is, where the fn key is put (to be next to arrows). Despite not being fully mechanical, a very much enjoyable typing experience. I think it’s a great value for what you’re paying for.
My only gripe would be if I could control the lighting with software, otherwise, if you don’t mind that, it’s honestly a great buy.
I was a bit hesitant to order this keyboard, First, this being my first 60% keyboard and second, this being my first ever mechanical keyboard xD , and also I’m a software dev, so the keyboard is a thing that you can’t mess with it. If you aren’t comfortable with it then you can’t write code on it; it’s as simple as that. I’ve used other mechanical keyboards, The Logitech and also the HyperX alloy, I know Arrow keys Section plays a big role when you are coding and also even when you are just surfing on the internet and I’m telling you this with my own experience, you will not feel any difference! You just have to give it some time to get your brain used to it. (It took approx 2 days for me) and also it comes with software and some layers so if you’re a computer geek just like me, then you can tweak some stuff there, play with macros, LEDs, and all, but it’s on you. If Hyperx is out of your budget and you are looking for a normal usage mechanical keyboard then this keyboard surely will be the best option for you at this moment.
PROS: everything is programmable., doesn’t have a clicky sound, optical switches, comfy and compact design.
CONS: keycaps can be an issue here, but you can change them if you have some spare money in your hand. that’s the only reason I’m giving it a 5 star Rating, company should provide PBT keycaps at least for WASD keys and also command and other keys for MAC, just like other companies do.
its rlly good, the rgb lightning has many options, plus the program. although its only hotswappable with optical switches, if youre looking for a 60% pink keyboard this is the best out there
Can’t beat it – tried lots, this is the best!
Delivered in India: Ordered the white variant with Gateron Yellow switches.
Loved everything about the keyboard, the keys have precise cut outs for the light to seep through and see the letters clearly.
Would recommend going to the Gateron Brown switches, because yellow cause a few accidental touches ’cause they’re way too smooth and fast.
I bought this the other day and I’ll be honest I wasn’t expecting it to be what everyone else is saying it is but holy was I surprised how consistent the keyboard actually was very durable and came in 2 days
(This keyboard has really satisfying asmr)
Ok, let’s skim over the obvious things about this keyboard. Should you buy it in comparison to other boards? Yes. Does it come with a lot of cool features? Yes. Is it worth 90 CAD? Absolutely. How do the Gateron Optical switches fare in comparison to Cherry MX? Very similar and you won’t be able to tell the difference. Does it have voice-activated RGB? YES. Now, what are you waiting for empty your wallet already.

This was a gift for my 15 yr old grandson who is into ‘gaming’ big time. He’s very particular with his technology and has given this little keyboard a 10/10 He absolutely loved it. With all the flashing colours it looks spectacular. Certainly a little WOW factor at a really excellent price.
Only best keyboard exist in this price segment is this one GK61 Getron brown switch for gaming and typing.
The GK61 with Gateron Silver Switches has one of the fastest actuation points in the world. I would highly recommend it with either Silver or Yellow switches if you are a competitive gamer. The actuate almost as soon as you press the key, and the fact that the switches are linear makes them smooth and satisfying to press.
Son loves it! Well made and very responsive, he is rough on all his gaming gear but so far so good.
Really great keyboard! I personally really like this keyboard and it definitely lives up to its “hype” but I’m just kind of disappointed that the Bluetooth isn’t working:/ I’ve tried the manual and videos but still nothing. I wasn’t gonna actually use bluetooth but it still would’ve been nice to have for potential future use. I believe they sent me a defect but besides that it’s a great keyboard!
The keyboard is good quality, came the next day and is better than most keyboards that are $200+ and is good for gaming
his keyboard is great in all aspects… except typing, in my experience. gaming is great, esports titles are a big attraction for this board with those optical yellow switches like i have, but the typing experience for me isn’t the greatest. these switches are incredibly light, and actuate at a really really low point. so if you have ‘fat fingers’ for typing or gaming, you’re definitely going to accidentally hit those wrong keys. misspelling words on this keyboard is going to happen a lot when typing, even if you slightly graze over those keys that you didn’t mean to touch, they’re going to actuate.
other than the typing experience cons, the esports experience is phenomenal, the response time out of this keyboard is amazing. optical yellows are a very good switch for esports gaming, and i’m pretty sure they’re faster than the steel series apex pro switches.
overall, great board. but don’t buy this board with yellows if you’re a typist… unless your absolutely confident that you’re not going graze over those wrong keys.
This keyboard is so good for gaming. The cable stays in so well and will not fall out well your in a game. Even if your just typing with it it has a very good layout. With it being a 60% keyboard it will fit well on any desk. I really recommend this keyboard.
The keys sounds are absolutely satisfying, for someone who loves the sounds of mechanical keyboards. The RGB backing also makes the keyboard look absolutely beautiful. Recommend!
Love the white option and the hotswappable feature. Board might be a bit noisy due to the switches being removable
This overall is a very good keyboard for typing and gaming. There are a couple problems however. First of all the USB-C cable that it comes with doesn’t actually work with the keyboard (or at least for me). As in the lights would turn on but i couldn’t type. And the actual software for the keyboard is extremely hard to find but once you find it it’s pretty easy to work around.
I think this is a GREAT 60% keyboard especially for budget buyers and is worth every cent. It arrives really quickly so I think u should buy it 🙂
The Gk61 is a budget mechanical board that comes in at around 100 AUD. I bought the Gk61 with Gateron Browns and they feel amazing. The keycaps could be better as well as the software. RGB is alright and I love the function off turning off the RGB when needed. Overall 8/10
I am 100% content with this purchase. Was looking for a moddable RGB 60% form factor gaming keyboard, and after watching many reviews on YouTube, I decided on this one. Great build quality and huge customization options through the downloadable software. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an inexpensive mechanical keyboard.
Best keyboard my hand doesn’t hurt anymore from clicking the keys and feels really sturdy. I barely touch the keys and it actuates very quickly which is nice
I got the gatreon reds and the first thing I did when I got it was try it out. it was a lot louder than I was expecting so I added o-rings and lubed some of the switches. atm it has a suprising amount of rattle so i might actually go back and re-lube some of them because it’s a little insane. for the price tho it’s a good starting keyboard and I’ve never owned a mechanical keyboard before so a good start. If i could I’d rate it a 3.5/5
Great Keyboard but bad and confusing customisation software. Good delivery time. Some of the keycaps came a bit damaged/scrateched near the bottom but that’s ok.
I think this is a great budget board. I got the brown switches and they feel pretty great. The software is not HORRIBLE but its not amazing either. I just watched a youtube video on how to change the static colors and it was pretty straight forward.
RGB lighting is horrible. Definitely cannot get just white backlighting, it looks like 3 different colors at once. I tried to change to a few other static colors through the software and it looks like it wasn’t able to achieve that color. I also could hear a faint humming when I changed the color to white or light blue. This isn’t a huge deal since I like to use it without the lighting anyway. I ended up switching out the keycaps for the corn 61 joker keycaps and it looks and feels awesome.
Arrived super fast. Easy to use, keys very accurate. Gamer son loves it. An excellent product at what I’m told is a really good price.
Way better than I thought it would be, keys a bit wobbly but shouldn’t affect gameplay at all. So many RGB options to choose from and easy to select. 100% recommend buying, especially for this price, this keyboard is probably one of the unbeatable in the market.
First impressions … wow its compact. And it has some weight to it when you pull it out da box. Upon plugging it in, you get a nice professional look to the backlighting. Within about 20 seconds a smile crept across my face. This keyboard might edge out my favourite board. fast, smooth and very few typos. Im not using it for gaming, its for programming and general typing. So yeah, wow. A very unexpected package that screams quality. Im sure you could nitpick something but Ive only had it for about 20 minutes at this point. For the price, and also regardless of the price, I’m really happy with it!
I love the Gk61 (I got the red switches) the switches feel nice and smooth, the key caps are okay, the rgb could be better but it is amazing overall
My son did his research and comparisons before purchasing this item and he is very happy with the keyboard and it’s gaming functions.
This is my new favourite keyboard. Small, compact and The rgb looks amazing. The gateron reds and also very smooth. I prefer this over my $300 razer huntsman. The detachable USB c cable is also neat. From a gamer to another. If you need a small rgb keyboard that has good quality. Get This
Awesome budget keyboard. Smooth Gateron red switches and the rgb lights up well with the white keycaps and base.
This keyboard is hands down one of the BEST options for budget 60% keyboards. I have the blackboard with gateron brown switches and custom keycaps and it feels and types really good. The only downside would be the stabilizers on the spacebar which could be fixed by lubing them, however not bad for stock stabs. Very satisfied
Works as described delivered a day early the packaging did arrive a little bit damaged but didn’t harm anything inside wasn’t expecting a braided cable very happy
For the price this is the best you can find. Really impressed. Would recommend for a first mechanical keyboard.
Very impressed so far. Keys feel great but it’s not as loud as blue switches. Nice RGB patterns as well. This is my first 60% keyboard and I only wish I made the switch sooner!
This keyboard is fast, small and has insane lighting. If you cant afford a ducky or other expensive keyboards you should buy this. Although you should buy a separate ley cap puller because the one it comes with is terrible. The key cap puller I use is the one that comes with razer keyboards.
Amazing feeling and sound the optical brown switches are amazing there surprisingly smooth without any lube. You can probably find this cheaper on Ali Baba tho.
This is a sturdy built keyboard for the money it costs. At half the price of other mechanical keyboards, you get a compact keyboard with the essentials. If you don’t want many frills but are looking for a mechanical feel and a 60% format, this is a great buy.
I went through the process of lubing each switch/stabilizer and doing some mods. Out of the box, the keyboard sounds just as any other off-the-shelf mechanical keyboard would sound. After lubing and mods, it sounds like a true high-end mechanical keyboard. Taking the keyboard apart showed the admirable production quality. Nothing is high end, but nothing inside is super cheap either. This will be a durable keyboard that doesn’t seem like it should run into any problems unless there is an issue with the PCB, which is unlikely.
The RGB effects are nice and the customization for macros and lighting is nice. It provides the essentials. The only downside to the lighting is that any colour that isn’t red, green, or blue will be an awkward gradient through the keycaps. For example, orange will be a weird red/green mix with only orange right in the center of the key. White is a gradient from blue, to pink, to purple. I find that it looks cool, but it’s definitely not good at replicating solid colours.
Overall, beautiful keyboard that fits all of my needs. Unless you’re a keyboard enthusiast looking to spend $200 on a 60% keyboard, this is your best bet.
ive been wanting a red switch keyboard for a while now and i bought this one and for the price it feels like a ducky keyboard. Amazing keyboard i havent had any issues except i t may take a day or two to get used to if you were using different switches before. 5 out of 5 star keyboard
keyboard is very good seems like switches are quick and the lights are very nice while playing in a darkish room many different modes which is amazing love the keyboard switches are good and build quality is good too
The software is kinda jank. Has a pretty odd layout with not real instructions. But once you tinker with it you can basically get this keyboard to do whatever yo want. Make pretty much any key do a variety of things over 4 layers. The only points I’m taking off is that the lighting is cheap. Looks good from across the room but when you look close it lacks compared to more expensive brand name keyboards. That being said I love the keyboard, and it was cheap enough that I almost covered the cost by selling my old corsair one.
8/10
Points off for wobble and weak lights.
For the price this is the best keyboard you can get. The rgb is bright, The keycaps are pretty good quality and the switches are solid. If you want to get into keyboards this is a good keyboard to customize. Just take into consideration that if you want to change the switches they have to be optical switches.
I bought this 61key gaming keyboard for my son and it was exactly what he was looking for ! The smaller size is perfect, fantastic quality, multiple color and key settings and UBS power cord hooked right into his xbox. The delivery was quick and we are very pleased with this purchase.
Really nice keyboard, rgb pops really nice. Good Quality material both keyboard and cord and a really nice feel compared to my old Lenovo legion mech keyboard.
I got the white colour with gateron optical browns and so far I’m liking them much better than my old mx red linears. Packaging was nice and comes with a key cap tool to switch/customize your key caps (I switched mine out with the hyper x pbt caps).Really satisfying purchase
When this keyboard, the white GK61 with Gateron Reds, came in the mail I was beyond excited to open it after seeing multiple reviews on YouTube and Reddit giving the product positive feedback. I am not new to the world of mechanical keyboards so I was more than aware of what to expect. After opening the box I was happy to find that UPS had not failed me and my keyboard was intact, but I quickly noticed the windows key was no where to be found. After ignoring the missing cap, assuming I would find it loose under the interior cardboard piece along with the USB-Type C connector, I was very sad to see that the key was not present. As I am typing this review on the keyboard I have nothing but positive thoughts, it is aesthetically pleasing, while not PBT the key caps are high quality, and due to the heft the board it feels like it has great build quality. While the pros should outweigh the cons of this board in particular, for me they do not. I know as soon as I lift my left hand away from the board, I will see a helpless little shiny black windows key, out of place, and out-numbered, by a sea of white key caps with a clearly dominant aesthetic. After I purchase a new set of PBT key caps this board will become a source of pride for my current set up. For now though, this small problem is corrupting my already OCD mindset. Every time I look down I want to slam the keyboard into the ground and throw scalding hot water on it, taking a professional grade torch and burning the single recycled black windows key cap until it is a small piece of identifiable plastic autism contrasting my bright hardwood floors.
Would definitely recommend this keyboard to anyone looking for a 60% keyboard to enhance their setup. I have owned this keyboard for enough time to make an honest review, and I don’t think i’m ever going to be looking back. I don’t need a Number pad or arrow keys as I use my PC to mainly Game and this keyboard allows me to free up desk space to flick and move my mouse around. I used to have a full size keyboard and always bump my mouse into it but since upgrading to this 60% setup I haven’t hit my keyboard since! I like the RGB option but it is a learning curve to use the software as its covered in broken Chinese/English but that is the trade off for the price since I cant seem to find another 60% keyboard for a similar price unless I order directly from china (but id have to wait a month for shipping that may never even be shipped). I would definitely recommend this keyboard as the clicks sound great the Gateron optical red switches are amazing and responsive definitely faster than my old cherry MX red, and blues I’ve owned in the past I like how the cable is a braided, and the RGB lights are very bright. All in all it is a great keyboard and would definitely give it a 7/10 as the software could be better.

This keyboard is solid, well constructed and a joy to use.
My only fault is the supplied USB-C cable is a little on the short side. It’s a good cable but would have been nice if it was at least a foot longer.
Keyboard looks exactly as shown in the images. There is some key cap wobble but nothing extreme.
The packaging comes with instructions from a different company (looks like this might be a re-package).
The macro recording software looks a little suspicious, I personally uninstalled it almost immediately after installing it.
The keyboard itself is well built, the RGB lighting is nice and bright, with plenty of light settings.
The switches feel nice and responsive, and that clack when you type is extremely satisfying.
If you want a cheap, entry level mechanical keyboard and don’t care about macros, I would say this is a good buy.
Thought I put a quick review. I’m coming from an old Corsair K70 mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX brown switches. Thought I would get a much more compact keyboard for the desk and for gaming. Overall impressions is good. The keyboard case is single piece of plastic which is mostly matte with some gloss highlights around. The plastic case is decently thick so that in tandem with the steel backplate, the entire thing feels really solid and does not creak or flex under reasonable torque. There are no adjustable feet on the keyboard, just 4 large rubber feet. The keyboard is connected via a usb-c cable which is nicely braided so it has a nice look to it. Braided cables has heaps of “memory” to it so it’s fairly stiff, but given its going to be connected to your keyboard, which doesn’t move, I have no complaints.
The keycaps have a matte finish on the top, with gloss-finish on all sides. This is very different to the keys on my K70 which was all-gloss. The matte finish is definitely a winner because it doesn’t show fingerprints readily. The gloss-sides however show off grime, dirt, scratches and dust easily. You have to be carefully when removing the keys on this board with the included the keycap puller because it will scratch up the gloss-sides of the keys! The Shine through legends are decent and allow the backlight to shine through. The font is a bit “gamery” but not as bad as some others and I soon got over it quickly. However, the thing you WONT get over will be the white-printed secondary legends on the keycaps. You’ll notice that this keyboard has its F-keys, arrow keys and other functions (num-lock, scroll lock etc) as secondary functions. These can be quickly accessed by holding “Fn” in the bottom right and pressing the relevant key. The problem is that these legends are not durable. The appearance of the printing is great; It’s nice and crisp. But it fades incredibly easily. I’ve only used the keyboard for a few weeks and the printed legends on the A-Z part of the keyboard has this dull stained look. So far the legends haven’t started peeling, but the white print stains easily. For some it might not be a problem because you’ll hopefully remember the location of all the keys by them. But is definitely something for the manufacturer to improve upon on the next iteration.
The RGB lighting is cool. All the colours under the rainbow, except for white. The white colour looks more like a light blue. Odd, but definitely not a deal-breaker.
The Gateron Optical Brown switches feel pretty marvelous. They are very smooth, with a tactile bump much more pronounced that the K70’s cherry mx brown. The downward travel is also smoother, with noticeably less “grit/sandy” friction feeling. This makes the key travel feel much shorter. I’m not sure if its true, but these optical brown switches feel like they have a much shorter travel distance than the mx browns. I got used to it, and am not sure if I prefer it. For typing, i feel like I want a little bit more travel distance for comfort. It feels abrupt as I’m bottoming them out. Perhaps I need more time. The only other thing is noise. It doesn’t have a loud click, but you will definitely hear them thud everytime you poke them the full distance down. I found it to be louder than my K70.
Lastly, it has no wrist rest. This is the one thing that I missed from the k70. I’m definitely a wrist-rest user. The K70 has an included plastic detachable wrist rest. Although nothing special, it allows me to be a bit “lazy” when playing games on an extended session as I can rest my fingers on the wasd keys and that’s all. Without the wrist rest, I certainly felt the strain of holding my hands up on the wasd keys. What I 100% missed is the “detachable” aspect of the K70’s wrist rest. If you move your keyboard, the wrist-rest moves with it. Unless you glue your wrist rest to your GK71, every adjustment of the keyboard will require a follow up adjustment to the accompany wrist rest which gets very frustrating.
Otherwise that’s it. If you are wondering if you should buy this keyboard for $80AUD, then go ahead. There’s definitely worse that you could buy. The only problem is the cheap secondary legends printing on the keycaps.
Why i bought this keybaord:
1. I wanted a smaller foot print on my desk
2. I like new tech and wanted optical switches
3. The value proposition here was very intriguing.
Potential deal breakers:
1. Lighting – If you are an RGB crazed mad man, you might not want this for VERY picky reasons. The rgb used in this keyboard has two leds for each key. I have no idea why they thought this was a good idea or what they were going for but the downside to it is that you can see both leds depending on what color the board is trying to show.
2. Glossy sides of key caps if you are super picky
3. No media or volume control. (Can be remedied if you download and run auto hotkey on startup of windows. this is more of an advanced thing for someone to do, but anyone can do it, even with your keyboard you are probably using now)
Pros (in order):
1. Typing experience (Brown switch, this is my second mechanical keyboard) – For those who dont know, the brown mechanical switches have a tactile bump which is felt as a sort of wall on the key press that you break through. Brown switches are not clicky and the sound they make is muted and low tone which I absolutely love. I came from a logitech 810 that has the G Romer switch, which is Logitech’s proprietary mechanical key switch. These switches are very similar but I would say that the Gateron optical browns in this keybaord have a slightly more present tactile bump.
I was excited to try out these switches and I love them. I have been playing type racer for a couple of hours today just because of the amazing typing experience and the pleasing low bassy sound that comes from these keys. they are also a big reason why have taken the time to write out such a lengthy review for this product because i just enjoy typing on these switches so much.
Truly a pleasure.
2. Gaming (again, this is the brown switch) – I am a gamer so this point is either going to be a pro or a con in this review and obviously its in the pro list. As for the optical switches, i think the lack of input delay actually got me confused when i started playing. I read that input on other keyboards are like 30 ms while optical is bassically no input delay at all. I felt weird at first but i got used to it in a couple minutes and use the keyboard as normally would my G 810. I played first person shooter with this today and the tactile bump was a bit more of a hindrance than the G Romer switch on the 810 but i dont really mind it because i will eventually get used to it and wont notice it anymore. It is different but not different enough to were i wont get over it. If you are into linear switches than obviously you wont want anything to do with the brown switches in the first place.
3. stabilizers – the large keys like space, shift, backspace and enter all feel really solid. the space bar in particular on my G 810 along with the other keys was really lousy and am glad to be rid of it. that space bar was ridiculously clacky where the space bar on this keyboard makes a satisfying THUMP.
4. Lighting – it works. im not that picky or an rgb freak. I like a nice per key back lighting and this makes me happy. The double color you get from the weird leds is odd but its not a big deal. The instructions for how to change the lighting effects with the function + (whatever key) is all in the manual you get with the keyboard. (you can do more with the software but its not easily found and do not think most people will download it because of how you go about finding it)
Conclusion and take ways for me:
I will never buy a high name brand keyboard ever again. For what is 50 dollars, i got everything i could ever need out of a keyboard where high end brands like logitech would charge 100 to 120 or more for similar offerings. For me, spending extra money on anything else would be a 100 percent waste. I would gain nothing meaningful to me or my setup at all.
Regardless of price, these switches awesome (ive only had this and the G Romer switch by the way)
I just received this keyboard and am coming the perspective of a havit 104 blue switch keyboard.
Pros:
Small – I wanted to downsize from a 104 key layout to free up my space and it is exactly what i was looking for.
Hot swap switches. – I accidentally ordered the brown switch model and I am actually satisfied with them so I will be keeping this model, but if i do ever get tired of the brown switches I at least am able to easily swap between switches instead of having to buy a new keyboard.
Build quality – The board was surprisingly heavier than I expected and feels more sturdy with almost no flex to the board.
Switches: The brown switches provide a tactile feedback that I find satisfied and the keys produce enough noise to produce an audio feedback that I feel boosts the overall experience of using this product.
Cons:
Keycaps – When you look at this board you feel like this purchase was worth it except for when you start to look at the keycaps. They look and feel cheap with glossy edges so I would recommend buying aftermarket keycaps to improve this.
Neutral:
RGB settings – It is better than a havit keyboard but not as good as the keychron K2. Some of the presets are appealing but I feel like more solid color options could be added. As seen in other reviews the software could use some work but as a Mac user I am not able to use it at all. This leaves me with the standard presets only.
Overall for the price I am happy with the initial presentation of the keyboard and would highly recommend i
All things considered; the build quality was surprisingly good for such a cheap keyboard; especially considering it is technically a hot-swappable keyboard. Keycaps are of decent quality; however the legend is kinda wonky and can sometimes be offputting. Comes with factory lubed stabilizers, which were done quite poorly and needed to be redone; but it was definitely interesting to see considering the price and how few other manufacturers don’t actually lube their stabs. Great value keyboard; definitely worth a purchase if you’re just getting into the mech keyboard community and want a base to start out with.
This 60% board is great! I would take points away for the software it uses but after spending a few minutes online looking around for an older version of the software (which happens to be the better one) I just set up my board how I wanted it to run using the onboard settings and it’s been great.
I’ve purchases 2 of these so far with red opticals, and I’ll likely end up buying 2 more of these boards simply because the cost is so low and it comes set up out of the box. The initial build quality is great and while the keys may be a bit clacky they’re still much quieter and smoother than any other stock keyboard I own. I ended up buying a set of PBT oem caps with this and I have some SA caps on order, but even with just the oem caps I was blown away by how fast and responsive this board was.
As for modding, I purchases several sets of additional switches out of the available linears (yellow & silver) and currently I’m using the silver ones with PBT oem caps after having spent the time to lube the switches. The feel and sound of this board with the listed changes is amazing!
I have yet to start using the yellows since I’m waiting on a few parts to mod the hell out of my second board but I already know it’s going to be easy to do and I’m expecting the outcome to be AMAZING.
Honestly a very good deal. The optical switches are very quick, comparable to my logitech g pro keyboard after doing some reaction tests.
Typing is smooth, the entire thing feels sturdy. I swapped the keycaps with Razer PBT keycaps.
Very good keyboard for the money. The hotswap functionality is a bit gimmicky because it’s more difficult to find optical switches than regular. Backplate is sturdy but keys are a bit wobbly. Abs keycaps do not last a long time.
This keyboard over all is great, The switches feel great considering the overall price and the build quality is fairly good as well. My only dislike was the key caps, but those can be replaced with some affordable abs key caps and still be cheaper then most 60 percent keyboards.
The keyboard overall is great, its sturdy. The model i have does have optical switches, which are different than the traditional mechanical switches so keep that in mind if you’re looking to try a bunch of different switches; optical switches are quite tricky to source in canada and there are only a few varieties. I’ve swapped the keycaps on mine but the stock ones are also quite nice. I’m only giving it 4 stars because the product is great, but if you want to customize the lighting and create macros, the software is pretty much required. The software for one is very hard to find, it took some digging. It is also quite difficult to use, and took a while of playing around to get the desired effect.
I liked this keyboard more than the anne pro 2. The keyboard brightness was brighter and the feeling of the optical brown switches felt so much tactile. I definitely enjoyed using this keyboard.
I bought this keyboard and a few others. This is the same as the Asceny One, The Anne Pro 2 but without wifi, and a few others all on Amazon. This brand didn’t try to mask the label. I was going to build a keyboard with the same switches. and a similar PCB and it would have cost me 4 times more. I am super happy with the browns. I have Cherry Reds at work and they are way too sensitive. I constantly mistype. I brought the reds home one day to try gaming and it didn’t feel right. The browns are the perfect blend for gaming and typing. I did try some blues, but my wife vetoed it almost instantly. Way too loud. This is a 60% keyboard. I do sometimes wish I had real arrow keys and functions keys, but I love the same form factor on my desk. The light effects out of the box are enough for me. I have no desire to download the software. I have enough RGB control crap on my PC as it is. For the money you cannot go wrong. The switches are replaceable so even if one dies I can buy a pack for a few bucks. The Base it solid. No flex. The keys do have a little side by side play, but so does my $150 Corsair at work. This is a great bang for the buck, Down the road I may still build my own, but for now this is worth every penny and I love it. I did install the corsair WASD rubber keys on this board and they look decent on it.
Great keyboard for gaming and browsing the web the software was a little hard to figure out but once u do its really easy yo cosamize the lighting add macros and even change what the keys do all together i love this keyboard the light could be a little brighter shining through the key kaps but under the key cap its really brigh
Great value for what you’re getting. Brown switches are very accurate and have a satisfying click to the touch. RGB is very vibrant although when turned up to full brightness, the keyboard emits a faint high pitched noise. It’s not super loud, but noticable. The other downside is the software, not really well put together although you will get the hang of it with a bit of looking around it.
Keyboard itself seems really good for the money. Hot-swappable was a selling point but the gateron switches are good enough that I probably won’t bother.
The software is the main downside of this keyboard. Very unintuitive and largely in Chinese. Took me a while to figure out how to create my own simpler lighting profiles but finally got it working. By default, the RGB lighting is a crazy light show and unless you’re into that kind of thing it’s pretty distracting.
20-30 hours of gaming on it so far and everything working great.
Had it for 2-3 months now and its just amazing, the feel on the keyboard is just great.
Fairly good keyboard for the price but the rgb lighting is really mediocre.
There is no white, keys shake and there are no flipping feet to prop it up.
In the end I regret buying this keyboard and should have spent more money for something that’s better and is quality made.
his product is amazing great price for this i got this white version with the gateron optical red switches and it sounds amazing and looks amazing especially when paired with the neon green Tai-Hao keycaps,
the rgb itself is worth the price
It’s a really good keyboard honestly for the price it performs really well. I got the brown switches and idk if it’s because of the optical switches but when I put in o-rings I could still hear the bottoming out sounds only when I put double o-rings it would mute it, but sometimes the double o-rings were too thick and the keys didn’t travel deep enough to trigger the switch, I just pushed the rings in deeper to get them to work 100% of the time, now it works perfectly, and the RGB is amazing!
This keyboard is amazing. My first 60% and took only a day or 2 to get used to it and will never go back to a full size.
Just waiting for my custom key caps to come in the mail!
The keyboard is great over all but I noticed the keys were very wobbly because they are hot-swappable. So I put a piece of tape under each switch and that fixed it and now it sounds and feels grea
I am a B1G gamer and the keyboard is p100 for all the games I play. The Gateron Blue optical switches offer a great typing and gaming experience in my opinion. The RGB is a very nice bonus as well, it is smooth and I really like that you do not need software to cycle through the preset effects. My only 2 dislikes are very insignificant, but the RGB software because it is in some sort of Asian language, and on my keyboard the enter key doesn’t fully reset if I press the key then quickly press it again I don’t get the tactile bump or click from the switch but that is probably something I can fix easily later on (probably something to do with the stabilizer). Overall this keyboard has amazing value and can be easily compared to the competition. It has exceptional build quality, very good RGB and I really like that the keys are hot swappable so is one of the keys does break I can quickly replace it with a less used one. This keyboard would be perfect for someone who travels a lot and doesn’t want to dump $100+ into a 60% keyboard that can break. I will definitely recommend it to my friends. 9/10 keyboard
The keyboard is perfect except that the cable is a bit loose wich makes the keyboard disconnect if i move it but everything else is good feels like a ducky one 2 mini but for 65$
-Rgb is fantastic
-Blue switches are clicky
-But the usb C is worse quality and it stops working when you touch the cable
Nice keyboard, the software to play with the lights color is not necessary. The default options are already good enough.
The GK61 is honestly the greatest deal for what you get.
In my photos i’ve swapped the keys for NKPC PBC Miami keycaps and i’ve spray painted the case to white. There are several other cases available on epathbuy for pre-made black and white cases, aluminum, wooden, and more cases.
Priced at only $50 you get a great keyboard with lots of customization. The switches are hot-swappable with optical switches giving u the flexibility to change your switches overtime finding the sweetspot for yourself.
Pros:
– the switches feel great. i’m using the gateron browns.
– build quality is great for price. heavy and sturdy even though it is out of plastic.
– comes prelubed so no need to lube when receiving the package.
– stock keycaps are decent but i’d reccomend swapping them if you have the money
– individual lit rgb keys for customization
Cons:
– one of stabilizer stabs came broken
– can feel a tiny bit mushy at times
– not compatible with standard 60% cases, but it has its own small selection. you can always spraypaint like I did.
– program is confusing if you’re into rgb settings
tldr: buy it. you won’t regret i
Ergonomic, check Quality, check Good keys, check. Everything but fixed colours. (sigh)
Wow! For $50, finding a hot swappable 60% RGB Mechanical Keyboard is just mind boggling! I’ve had this keyboard for a few weeks now, and I must say I’m very impressed with it. The first thing that stood out to me when I used this keyboard was that the Gateron Optical Switches are SOOO SMOOTH. Seriously though, they’re smoother than the regular Gateron Switches (Non-optical) and they put Cherry Mx Switches in the dirt. This keyboard also comes with software to add macros, change lighting, etc. However, I’ve been told that it is complete garbage.
The features that this keyboard provides for the price highly outweighs it’s garbage software, which is why I’m giving this 5 stars. The keyboard is only hot swappable with Gateron Optical Switches that you can purchase on epathbuy.
The build quality of this keyboard is solid as well, having a backplate made entirely out plastic, it still feels like a premium product. The keyboard comes with feet rests on the back and this allows the keyboard to not move around at all when you’re typing or gaming.
My only con is that it only comes with 2 switch options and doesn’t come with more switch options such as the Gateron Optical Reds, Blacks, Yellows, Silvers, etc.
Overall, this keyboard destroys any other on this website for the price and I recommend it to anyone trying to find a good quality 60% optical mechanical hot swappable keyboard with RGB backlights for a cheap price.
