This is the best drone I’ve used so far. It’s easy to control and the quality of footage is very very impressive. It is more compact than it looks, so it really does pack a powerful punch. It can handle windy weather too, which is ideal for me living in Scotland.
At the time of writing this review, the mini drone is 139.99.
I started my drone flying hobby with a DJI Phantom 4 series and it still works well nowadays. I lovely the design and opeability of the drone, as well as the software UI, however the footprint makes it hard to carry around in a normal backpack.
This mini drone for 139.99 offers most of the basic functions of my DJI drone, of course you should expect some corners are cut to make it affordable. ( I paid over 1000 for my DJI Phantom a few years ago). First, it has a decent camera, advertised for 4K but I would rate it as a upscaled 1080p camera. It can shoot decent footage for hobby users. The remote control operates quite well too and it is quite responsive. The downside is that it does not support USB charging which is strange in the modern world, you need 4 X AA batteries for the remote.
Now, we can talk about the range, which is decent again. It can keep the connection strong for up to 100m, I would say. DJI entry level drone uses similar technology and offer similar range from what I know.
The fly time is decent again, during my use it can fly up to 15mins. The spare batter it comes with can provide some extra fly time when needed.
Overall, it is a good entry level drone for people getting into the field. For under 150, I don’t see any other good option available. If you wish to spend a bit more, you can go for a DJI Mavic mini that cost 150 more, and it will offer a better experience.
Overall and based of an amateurs view point this is a good little drone. It definitely has its positives but sadly it’s brought down by its negatives a little to heavily.
The positives:
Very lightweight
Small in size
Easily packed and carried.
Quick to set up.
Great app.
Good image quality.
The negatives:
Cheap feel to controller.
AA batteries required despite battery charging capabilities for the drone itself.
Hoover mode isn’t stable and strays a bit.
No image stability
Doesn’t work indoors.
I had high hopes and having taken this to the beach and riverside to fly and capture some shots I would say that I’m left feeling like I wanted more from it. With that said though it’s fun to fly, captures good photos and is quite nifty!
I was really looking forward to trying this drone out but with the typical UK weather at this time of year it took weeks to get a decent calm day.
When I did manage to get to try it out I found it to be pretty decent.
We have had a few cheaper drones and they only seem to run up to about 10mins.
With this one you get around 25 mins flying time and the nice thing is you get a spare battery that you can just easily swap over and get some more flying time straight away instead of having to keep waiting for batteries to charge.
I suppose if you used a powerbank you could be charging one while using the other to fly.
Inside I could not get a GPS signal but these are not really to be flown indoors anyway, however if you turn off the GPS mode you can just get straight on to flying.
Once outside it took just a couple of minutes to get a good amount of GPS signal and off I went.
The video is my first time flying a drone outside and at any sort of distance away from me. The picture did stick a couple of times but this may be due to cloudy day but the drone seemed to respond well even if the picture did stutter. I kept the drone in sight at all times and that’s probably the best option as if you lose picture you wouldn’t be able to see where your going.
As for picture quality I struggle to see how it is 4K. Plus when editing my video it comes up at 720p as original. It’s not to bad of quality and on a nice sunny bright day I think the picture will look a lot better.
The remote control seems a bit on the cheaply made side as the antennas that unfold feel like they could easily break if you was to drop or turn and catch them.
Overall id say it’s a pretty decent drone for a beginner, maybe a little overpriced at 139.99(at the time of review) but for me I’ll be looking forward to using this a lot more once the UK weather starts to get better.
Lightweight, fairly straightforward set up. I downloaded an app from the play store on to my Huawei phone and it was reasonably straightforward to use (I am sure I’m not using it to its full functionality though, I suppose that will come with time and confidence).
You can watch on the app at the same time the drone is moving and even control it from a phone too. Taking photos was easy and they loaded into my media gallery. The quality is OK, not brilliant but again I think I will improve this with time and understanding. I haven’t included the photos here as they’re identifying but I was happy with them and you can change the angle on the camera to get just the shot you want. On take off it did go what felt like very very high as part of the start up sequence which was a little concerning! Obviously you have to be weather aware and get permission etc and I would strongly advise looking into this properly and not treating this like a toy.
Overall I recommend this.
Quite easy to operate. Light in weight. Great video quality. Remote control range is also good. Comes with 2 batteries and have long battery life.
Initially it may require some trials but after some attempts it will become easy to operate. Read the product description properly before using it for the first time.
Overall a good option for beginners.
The AVIALOGIC Drone came in a company-branded box and was nicely packed. The contents include 1 Drone, Controller, Spare Propellers, 2 x batteries, USB charger cable and screwdriver. The user manual is easy to understand and it provides everything you need to know, from how to operate the RC Drone to its specifications. There is also the Q1 GPS app you can download, which includes very helpful videos that got me started quicker. I was surprised by just how lightweight the Drone is. It’s made of plastic and doesn’t feel that robust. Once the battery is installed, it does add some weight and is more sturdy. You wouldn’t want to use it on a day with a breeze. I consider myself a beginner in drones, having owned a cheap one previously and losing it somewhere in the woods on the first day. This Drone works well, to my surprise. Once I got the hang of the basic controls – elevation, forward/backwards, turning, sideways I moved onto more advanced settings like increasing the speed, playing around with camera angles, headless mode, follow me, waypoints and more. The camera is in no way 4k quality, although pictures and videos are clear. I like that It comes with two batteries and you get just over 20 mins of playtime with each. Overall, it’s ok. I think the price is too high in my opinion. There are, however, some neat features to take into account.
I have always been interested in the concept of using a Drone but never took the plunge.I saw this was available and was eager to try it for a review, so requested it.
It arrived with nicely box and presented one spare set of rotors and two batteries charge cable, plus a pretty comprehensive manual.
Having already done my research I knew as it weighs under 250 grams it is in the low risk category and all I had to obtain an Operators license (as the Drone has a camera) and a Flyers ID via the CAA website.
This shouldn’t put anyone off as it is very straightforward and is done on line with a 40 multiple-choice question test at the end. Pass mark is 30.
It took no more than half and hour and most of it is common sense.
After completing the multiple choice test it was a matter of paying 9 for the operator license and it was sent to me immediately by email complete with my Flyers ID.
I then downloaded a free drone assist app to check I wasn’t near prohibited air space and after checking that first and sticking my operators number onto the Drone I was ready to go and do my maiden flight.
As stated I’m a complete novice but I must say I found the Drone extremely easy to control I had no issues controlling the in-flight landing etc.
The phone app Q1 GPS was very straightforward and linked via the inbuilt wi-fi to the drone flawlessly.
The return to base is a great feature in the position lights look really smart it states it runs for 25 to 30 minutes on each battery
I’ve used it for about 15 to 20 minutes each occasion and just charged the batteries up each time.
I flew over the house and felt in complete control despite being a bit nervous.
When I first used the camera I had left the plastic film on it so unfortunately the images are a bit blurry.(see video) After taking it off they were much better. Not sure about it being 4k but more HD.
The controller held in my phone securely in the clamp and I was able to view the camera footage clearly and carry out the operations such as taking a photo, video easily moving up/down sideways etc, it was great that fun. The green and red rotor arm lights look very cool too.
For me what was really cool was to see the house and surroundings from the completely different birds eye view perspective. I think I’m hooked !
For a complete novice like me this has been ideal for my first foray into Drone flight.
I found it very easy to operate and control I didn’t get into trouble with it once or crash etc. Everything seemed to work flawlessly and that’s all I can ask for.
I’m not an enthusiast I have no preconceived ideas about how in terms of build quality or finish. The build quality is fairly light plastic but it seems solid enough and everything worked fine the control sat well in my hand and the drone was very stable and responsive in flight. I have no issues and no complaints.
I’m not sure on the pricing but having looked about at others this seems maybe a little bit overpriced at 139 ( time of the review). But that said I’m very happy with its operation and simplicity. No complaints.
This drone is amazing!
would make a brilliant gift.
comes nicely packaged and presented.
excellent quality and worth every penny.
5 stars!
This is a really good drone. Camera quality is good and easy to use. Take a while to get the hang of how to use it but works well. Would recommend.
I am far from a photography or drone expert but have previously flown a cheap one a bunch of times and for sure this one is on a far superior level. After installing the app on my phone and a few shy attempts of flying the drone I started relaxing and having fun and overall I found it very responsive and pretty stable considering the small size and very light weight.
The camera quality is surely not comparable to a 4k GoPro but more similar to cheapish 1080p action style cameras. Overall anyway I feel that the quality is fine and adequate for most people even if not amazing.
Personally I did not have too many issues in getting the drone to find a GPS signal but I feel that I was probably just lucky and in an open area where signal did not have any interference. Only time will tell if in other situation I will get the same results.
My only problem is the price that initially was at 199 and reading at a different review it dropped to 160 for a while. Currently this is on sale for 140 and I feel that it is an appropriate and fair price but unsure if it will drop even more
Suitable for beginners but also for the expert who wants to have fun.
Present the usual keys for starting recording / taking photos, automatic return home, automatic takeoff and landing.
Allow a discreet view of the surrounding environment.
Among the automatic functions available, the follow me, the circle fly and the tap fly stand out.
The flight behavior I found it better than the average of the drones of this range.
Fast GPS coupling, excellent position maintenance, good response to commands. The automatic height maintenance is also discreet.
Take advantage of the 5 GHz wi-fi to send the video stremiang to your smartphone.
Very responsive but at the same time simple to fly.
