I am a die hard fan of the GTA series and was thrilled when I heard about this remastered edition. Such fun, brings back good memories and the opportunity to relive my youth. Yes, there are a few glitches, most of them are pretty funny (NPC’s glitching or cars getting stuck in weird places) and don’t really effect the game play or missions. 10/10 – nostalgia hit is worth it.
I know this came with lots of controversy about glitches and performance etc.
But I started playing a month or so ago so the games have had a few patches now. And it’s brilliant! I’ve really enjoyed it, just like how I remember but better. (Playing on PS5 so smooth 60fps). Yes it’s not a full remake but it’s enjoyable, fun, silly and challenging and the improved controls are brilliant. Have come across any crashes or glitches really so fully recommend from me
I grew up playing The GTA games (don’t judge me), especially III, Vice City & San Andreas.
I tried getting into San Andreas again a few years ago when it was re-released on PS3, but I couldn’t get used to the old Controls.
So having this come out with better graphics, and modern day controls was a big thing for me. Loved all 3 games once again. Platinumed them all!!
Nostalgia at it’s best!!
good games, taken me back to my early ps2 life,I love the gta games, the graphics couldve been a bit sharper compared to what you see nowadays, but a bit of nostalgia for me,don’t think I would’ve paid full price of 55…bought it for 20:99,still if like me you love gta and can buy at lower price,I say go for i
Bought for my husband who has previously played the games. He personally doesn’t feel the graphics are improved much but still enjoys playing the games nonetheless.
ONGOING REVIEW – WROTE APRIL 2022 AFTER INITIAL PATCHES AND 24 HRS PLAY ON VC ONLY:-
UPDATED 18 April 22 (Please note so far I have only played VC.)
For 30 / a tenner a game why not. Just don’t expect to like this as much as you did 20 years ago. The control system is dated and generally gameplay has moved on massively.
Of course this never was a rebuild from the ground up, its simply a tarted up 20 year old game. Don’t expect GTA6!!
My biggest 4 complaints. All of which could have been resolved before / after release.
1:- Expect characters to move nothing like a real human and the tacky control and stupid AI to constantly get you killed. If there is so much as a banana skin on road they will queue and queue forever rather than drive around. People routinely bump into each other and keep doing it over and over. Often you will have to escort a character to another place. Only to have them get not look and cross the road and get ran over and killed. Yes there THAT stupid. Can’t cross a road. This brings me onto my next point……
2:- One of the biggest annoyances for me is the way when you fail a mission you go RIGHT back to the start of that mission. In the days of the original there would be check points. Not here! It says on failure of a mission ‘Cancel or Previous Checkpoint’ but i’ve never did a mission yet that HAS a checkpoint. You just go back to the very start. You usually fail due to some AI or horrendous control system or stupid AI and it can get irksome to be 15 mins into a mission and have to go all the way back to the initial brief and basically start from fresh for the 8th time.
3:- Draw distances are shocking. Often cars will spawn in your path if your driving fast or T bone you out of fresh air. There is no need for such short draw distances on the PS4 for a PS2 game! Suerly it could load the entire map never mind struggle to load what you can see around you.
4:- The sound track. Where has 75% of it gone too??? Each station has been cut to what sounds like the same old 4 sound and DJ chatter looping over and over. It gets old fast. Maybes this is down to licencing issues to what was in the original games expiring. But the sound track really was a huge part of GTA. You realise this more when you only have a quarter of it.
To conclude:-
If you loved the originals there worth a tenner each. But even a fan like me has to see the limitations. For all its imperfections I have to say I am still here playing it too death. So 4 stars.
@ROCKSTAR!! Stop dilly dallying and making cowboy games and reboots. Bring us GTA 6!!!! GTA 5 was out on the PS3!!!!
This game got a bad rep because of people used to amazing graphics. Playing this took me back to how I remember the games (having still got the originals I can see the graphic enhancements). If you played these when they originally came out this is a nostalgic trip back to liberty city, vice city and san Andreas. Three classics, cleaned up and looking pretty. I love it.
Ignore all reviews! While this game has received a few major updates to fix a few issues noted widely on release, it’s certainly not without an issue or two here and there. That being said, the issues I’ve encountered in my 2 days playing so far is a slight glitch mid mission meaning a restart ( restarted mission gta 3 ) as well as a game application close. A slight drop in frames here and there but overall nothing I’d class as major. You could argue give the age of these games they should run flawlessly on both PS4 and in my case, PS5 and I’d agree. Anyone on the fence about picking this up I say go for it, especially for 39.99. It’s an absolute nostalgic hit and allows you to see past any issues apparent. Highly recommend
I managed to get a PlayStation 5 a few days before Christmas I was so happy my children was still able to use the game and it was compatible for the upgrade
I read A LOT of negative reviews before eventually purchasing this a month after release.
I played the original GTA on PC and it was a ground breaking game. GTA 3 was the first game I bought for my PS2 and I absolutely loved it.
I have gone back a played loads of games from my youth hoping for the nostalgia pings that would transport me back to a simpler time in gaming. Many fall short of this and should be left in the past without tainting the memory of these experiences.
I was worried the GTA remasters would do just thatruin the memory I had of such an iconic series, but I have loved dropping back into Liberty/Vice City and San Andreas.
It won’t be for everyone. I can’t imagine many that hadn’t played them previously would appreciate the improvements that have been made when comparing the experience to the flashier modern open world comparatives.
A great set of games in my opinion; gaming memories brought back to life.
Playing GTA3 again is crazy, so many memories. Very hard not to jump straight into SA but I’m going to complete in the right order again. Tony hawks and GTA brought up to date in the same year – AMAZING!
Love the old style games, no real glitches in role play. Only noticed a bad big glitch in San Andreas while driving the train in non mission mode. Other than that it works like I expected.
Got delivered on day release. I have played GTA 3 and GTA Vice City do far and GTA 3 has a lot of bugs and trying to control the vehicles while driving them is hard as they keep rolling onto the roof. Some of the missions are nearly impossible.
GTA Vice City has a marker glitch so when your driving to a destination there will be 2 markers instead of one so that can be really confusing. The graphics on Vice city are way better than the graphic on GTA 3.
I Haven’t tried GTA San Andrea’s yet so can’t comment on that. But this is supposed to be a Definitive Edition but the graphics are still dark and still look really old. I was expecting more of a dynamic graphic so that’s something to be aware of before buying this. It still needs a lot patch updates.
The characters still look really odd.
I have missed Tommy from Vice city as I love the way he talks.
As I say it still needs a lot of patch updates to fix a lot of bugs. But so far there’s been no major glitches and it’s not crashed the game yet so that’s a plus. The rain effect looks really nice to. Is it worth 57.99 at the moment no not really. But I am still enjoying it.
you tube slagged this game off rotten,
well mabe they should buy the physical CD edition
instead of buying into early access steam games before
doing the game down.ok so there isn’t eny fog, so what
big deal. the game looks sharp better than the original.
they wanted remastered that’s what they got, they done
a well good job of it, the cars are a bit better in handling, and a lot more shiny.
ok mabe not GTA 4 handling like it says on the box, but it’s a
good improvement. they still kept the original feel of the game.
because of you tube i felt like id’e wasted my money, i was dreading
installing it. then when it installed, i was surprised at how good it is.
they even moaned at the price, 54 quid for 3 games thats what 17 quid
round about per game. so far iv’e only played SanAndreas and it’s worth 54 just for that.
the graphics in the world are a nice improvement, there is a guy on you tube that loves it,
just like me. tmartn2 he’s a honest man, buy the physical copy not steam. it’s an honest port of
the original. with better graphics, ok no mist but who cares about a silly thing like that
when we’ve waited so long for a good remake.
This takes me back to my youth, great games
All on one disc too, vice city has the best music if you grew up in the 80s, good not so clean fun
Remember naughty language and scenes not for the young.
I absolutely love this game , brought back memories playing them when i was younger. if you like gta definitely get.

Some minor glitches but nothing that stops you playing the games some of them are quite funny definitely worth the price
This game arrived really quickly, was well packaged and exactly as ordered. I didn’t shop around as I needed it quickly, but the price wasn’t too bad.
ice to go back in time and play all these games agai

Just as good as I remember. Graphics and controls are much improved. Still well worth playing.

Was really surprised how good this was after all the negative feedback. The game play has been greatly improved. Brought back childhood memories.

Alot of people were saying there was glitches but I don’t see any of that, here I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing GTA 3 so far.
It’s been a nostalgic experience since it gives me memories, from when I used to play GTA 3 on the PS2 so it’s a great game.
If you’re looking at replaying all the three classic main titles, of the Grand Theft Auto series in remastered upper scaled quality.
Three awesome games that have never looked better, highly recommended
Bought as a present for my son he is over the moon. He hasn’t put it down.
Don’t listen to the haters.
If you liked it originally, you’ll love this
