I bought this as it was half the price of a similar model advertised extensively on tv. First impressions are that its sturdy & well built, very easy to assemble & the batteries both charged fully in an hour or so. Its not lightweight though that is not a negative and just reinforces my impression that it is sturdy. The catcher is easy top take off and empty & nothing gets in the way of the grass getting there. Mowing the lawn is a pain in the backside, so I bought this to make the whole procedure easier, it certainly does that. As long as machine holds up and batteries continue to function then i’m very happy indeed with this purchase, highly recommend.
I honestly never thought I would be excited about a lawn mower, but here I am. What an absolute beast, so positively surprised and honestly in awe. We had a 31cm corded lawn mower that was just becoming too much hassle to use with climbing to plug the extension lead in, having to move the lead all the time whilst mowing, it kept clogging and cutting the engine, too small grass collection bag, etc, so we were actually looking for a big fuel mower or a robot mower when I came across this.
Our lawn was, mildly put, heavily over grown due to us being away on holiday and we were ill right before we left so it must have been 90 days of wild growth. Long grass, lots of weeds and assorted wild flowers. Lots and lots of dandelions. It was dry on top but very dewey just below, so I didn’t think we would be all that successful mowing it, thought we might need to get the strimmer out and get the worst of it. I was so wrong! It cut it like it was absolutely nothing, not once did it even sound like it was having any trouble, despite having such a big surface area to cut in one go with the 41cm blade. The grass collection bag is big so it was really heavy with that wet grass in it, but fairly easy to just lift straight up off the little hooks- no need to tilt it like on some other mowers. Despite the mower being heavy it didn’t feel heavy to operate, and I think the weight helped us get the most even cut I think we have ever had. You know it’s good when the husband keeps looking out the back door, nodding to himself.
We bought this from Amazon Warehouse and got an absolute bargain, maybe that was why my expectations were medium. It was very easy to assemble, although very heavy to lift out of the box so if you don’t have the ability to lift heavy you might want to get someone to help you or cut the box so you can wheel it out. Be aware there is a physical barrier stopping it from collecting grass out of the box, you have to remove this under the flap on the back if you want it to deposit grass in the collection bag. I didn’t notice on the first pass, so had to do another pass and move the blade lower- but it was my pleasure to do it all again. Our garden is 4×5 meters and I cut it twice, plus the front garden that is just a patch of maybe 1.5×1.5 meters, that all combined used up one full battery charge. Much larger gardens might need 2 batteries, but for us one charge will be more than enough to do all of it once+strimming just the edges.
We are so impressed we just ordered the strimmer from the same company so we can use the same batteries. I have a feeling we might end up buying the hedge trimmer tool as well before Spring. Will be highly recommending this to my friend who was just mentioning about needing a new mower.
I did so much research looking for a new mower. It was so difficult to choose but then I came across this model. It was a bit more than I wanted to pay but based on my last mower being dreadful at approx 110 I thought best to pay a bit more.
I am sooo pleased with it. It is a dream to use. Yes a bit heavy but nothing really. It is great. The height settings are seamless and I be just mowed a very long grass wet ish lawn with no issues.
I have never left a review before on here but was so pleased with my purchase I felt the need to do it.
I’m not sure why, other than the strength of the battery life, why I put off treating myself to a cordless battery operated lawn mower.
The ease of simply pulling the mower out of the shed and being able to crack in immediately without the faff of having to get the electric power extension reel out and connecting it to the mains and the mower; and the pleasure of being able to focus on mowing the lawn in super straight lines is 100 times easier without a cable to have to manage and move out of the way each time you turn around to start a new line.
The handle mechanism quickly releases to be folded away in the shed to save space and takes seconds. My previous mower I now realise was very painful to hold the power level in position in order to keep the power on, and used to cause considerable pain. With this Greenworks cordless model the mechanism is very light and comfortable to hold, and the heavy duty foam handlebar grip makes the whole process so much nicer to carry out.
The only reason I’ve given 4 stars and not 5 stars, was due to the battery life. It was something I knew all along would struggle to cut my lawn in one go. However, as I bought the option that comes with a spare battery, this wasn’t a problem, I was able to complete more than three quarters of the lawn before changing for a fully charged spare battery. So although I was fine, and prepared for this to happen it’s more of a heads up to others thinking the same. I’d definitely recommend buyers the spare battery option.
Other than that though this is a great product so far and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone thinking of buying their first cordless battery powered lawn mowe
For small to medium jobs, you can get grafting straight away. Easy to store in the back of the car. Batteries could do with lasting longer but overall I rate this product highly.
I bought this tool to use my 40volt greenworks batteries that I use with my chainsaw, strimmer, wheelbarrow, thereby saving on a power supply.
I cuts my small back lawn very well, no slopes so it is not too heavy, the grass was long on taking over the property, so I gave it three cuts from high to short and it coped very well with the unkempt grass, I can thoughrouly recommend this range of tools, I have two batteries and one charger so I can work continuously
I have been thinking about getting a cordless mower for a while but didnt really feel I should part with a lot of money just to avoid the extension cable coming out. However, I decided to have a look on Prime day and looked at lots of reviews. This mower came out top, or near top, in many of them. I found mine in amazon Warehouse so got a few quid off, although it looked like it had never been opened. My version has just a single 2ah battery and charger and this worried me. It does charge fast – an hour or so? And the battery is enough to do my front garden and rear, and then do a slightly shorter ‘mulch’ cut on the front. (Front is about 6m x 5m and rear is about 12m x 6m) It lasts about 25 mins but that’s enough time when you arent faffing around ducking under and round cables. It means I can dart out to do a cut before it rains without having to find the extension.
It doesnt have a roller, but does make effective stripes with the wheels.
The grass box fits very easily and the mulching is great (I wasnt doing it right at first. The plastic mulching plug has to click in to place for it to properly mulch the grass). Mulching drains the battery quicker than collecting in the box.
It folds away the size of a large robotic lawnmower with 4 quick release knobs.
Its comfy to use and sounds great. I find I mow more frequently now, which is better for the lawn than taking a lot off in one go.
I just need to show my husband how to use it..
Very good lawnmower in terms of grass cutting but note it is very heavy to pick up and put away in the shed. That said it is not heavy to use on the lawn but it is a long machine from tip of handle to tip of front wheel making manoeuvrability a bit restrictive but the handle folds down easily for storage. Adjusting cutting height is very straightforward. I have been putting off buying one of these mowers as the lowest cutting height of 25mm seemed a bit high for me as I like a very short lawn. As it turns out position 1 (25mm) is too short and I use position 2. Battery life is not brilliant but with 2 batteries you will finish mowing even decent sized lawns and still have some power left over to use with the strimmer if you have one. You will have to empty the grass catching bag a few times as it is quite small but is not an issue. Batteries recharge relatively quickly.
Good quality lawn mower, easy setup and operation. The mulch facility work’s really well.
The mower is not lightweight and maybe an issue for some people, however, once on the lawn the mower moves smoothly with minimal effort.
I bought this mower to replace a 20 y o 4hp 18″ petrol mower which has become both difficult to start and almost impossible to buy service parts for. I went for cordless over corded due to fess faff and the fact that I already have some Greenworks tools, so I didn’t need a battery, I also wanted to move away from petrol mowers for environmental reasons. With all of the dry weather I have only used this mower once, but so far so good. It seems a bit plasticky compared to my old petrol machine but it also seems quite robust, it has a good cutting width and height range and is light enough to pick up and store. The handles pack down easily so it is not taking up a lot of space in my shed, the petrol mower almost filled it. While it lacks the self drive system of the petrol it’s light enough to push so comparatively it is just as easy to use. The grass box is a also good size and seems to throw out a lot less dust than my old petrol mower, no idea how good the mulching function is yet.
Some reviews say it’s noisy, I was using a petrol mower before so I really can’t comment, there is simply no comparison this is way quieter but I suppose a big steel cutting blade is going to make some noise. I also appreciate the environmental argument of charging from coal or gas powered mains vs petrol, I have solar panels so for me this is non-issue I’m only going to cut on a dry day when I will have a lot of power available.
Love this product and I waited a couple of months to give a review. Comes with two batteries and don’t take too long to charge. I only have two fairly small lawns so perfect for these.
The lawnmower is pretty heavy though if you have to lift up steps etc.
Overall excellent though.
Adjusting the height wasn’t well described, but is very easy when you work it out. Just press the height button and move the whole machine up or down. Needs two batteries. quiet and cuts well. The grass basket is a bit too flexible.
Firstly if your after a mower/mulcher and strimmer with batteries and charger then order the G40lt with two batteries and a charger then buy the g40lm41 tool only, so much cheaper and don’t know why this isn’t a kit option probably the most common combination I imagine, anyway that’s a money saving tip.
The mower itself is brilliant, solid and well built. Folds up compact and nice but feels solid once unfolded, easy to do aswell. When stood behind the mower it feels solid with a good but not too heavy weight, cuts beautifully and mulches well too, the photo is of a mulch cut, lawn was about 60mm tall and mulched to a level 2. Battery life is good I strummed and cut the lawn (twice on two different levels to see what they were like) and still could have got another cut out of it I recon. Quick charging times are a bonus, plus it’s quiet, like rediculous quiet, quieter than the mains powered one before and a much better cut! So if like me you’ve spent about 10hr researching what mower to buy I’d recommend this one! Combine this with the strimmer and you’ve got a winning combo, also thinking of buying the hedge trimmer to add to the setup.
Having had a mix of petrol and cabled electric mowers over the years, I wanted something with less faff. I’ve always been sceptical (rightly so as it turns out — read on) about battery powered garden tools. It’s not the tool itself, I just don’t think battery tech is anywhere near where it needs to be to run larger tools for any useful length of time. Anyway, the 41cm 40v Greenworks mower arrived today and I’d let my lawn grow for a week so I could test it out. The mower comes already constructed in the box, so you just need connect the handlebars, tighten the grips and charge the battery.
I’d hunted around for a mower that had a mulching function. This one comes with both a grass collection box and a mulching plug, the latter of which chops the cuttings into tiny pieces and sprays them back over the lawn as nutrients. Some mowers have ‘rear discharge’ as a 2 in 1 feature with a grass collection box, but this just dumps the grass out the back of the mower for you to rake up later. I wanted a mulcher, and this does a fantastic job.
It’s lightweight but with enough heft to give a quality feel. Despite being all plastic bodied, it seems well constructed and sturdy. First test on the front and back lawn and I was very impressed. It seems to have far more power to chop its way through longer grass than my older petrol and corded mowers, and gave a very nice finish to the cut.
Now the weak point: batteries. I ordered the bundle with 2 x 40v 2ah batteries and a charger. The batteries are chunky but not as heavy as you’d imagine, presumably being about 30% plastic casing. The blurb said I should get around 1 tennis court size cut out of each battery. I don’t play tennis, but I do know it usually takes me around 25 — 30 mins to mow the lawns with a petrol or corded electric mower. First outing today gave me 19 minutes from the first fully charged battery, and I was one run away from completing the job when it died. So, the two supplied batteries should be more than sufficient for what I need, and I shaved quite a few minutes off the usual mowing time (albeit with some newbie range anxiety). Each battery seems to fully recharge in under 2 hours.
So, five stars from me, but with a caveat that batteries are, as always, the Achilles heel.
Seems very sturdy. Cuts well. Good choice of cut heights. Battery life works well for us as we can do both front and back lawns on one battery. Not tried it on very long o wet grass yet. Overall a good product. If you need something to cut around beds and more complex gardens this can be a bit heavy.
I have a large garden and the first mow of the year was a breeze even though the grass was long. Used 2 batteries but sure now the first cut is done, one battery will be fine. Very happy
Got fed up with cables and, much like the Dyson hoover inside, we won’t be going back from battery operated mower. Much easier to just grab out of the shed and go.
Great product with decent battery life.
This is my second battery mower and I love it! Makes light work of my garden. I wanted the self propelled one but was to much money. However it’s not as heavy as I thought it would be. Bought during the prime deals so I’m delighted with cost.
Haven’t used too much as bought recently and time of year, including wet weather (you’re advised not to mow), means it will get a greater work out when spring arrives. But seems to work efficiently, easy to start/stop, decent sized bin. Height adjustment took a bit of getting used to; instructions could be better. I can almost cut front, side and rear garden (mid-size) on a single battery, fully charged – pleased with this and spare battery always waiting.
Love the fact that its cordless which to be honest was the key reason I bought it plus I have other greenworks tools so already had plenty of batteries. It cuts really well, is pretty quiet, folds up nicely and the height adjustment works really well, so over all it’s a pleasure to use with my only slight negative is it’s quite heavy, noticeably so when lifting to pack away in the cupboard compared to my old Bosch. Overall though very pleased with the performance, ease of use and build quality, would recommend
Not as powerful as a Lon electric one. This is my second device after the first one stopped working.
Replaced my motor mower with this and so pleased I did. Very easy to use. Good battery life. No more worry about storing the petrol.
Would highly recommend
So easy to use. Was a bit worried about moving th an electric cordless lawn mower, but this has been great. Really pleased with it and no longer have to get my husband to start the old petrol lawnmower.
Good machine, works well, it even takes strawberry shrubs without problem but battery life is not empress at all. 1 battery works about 10 – 15 minutes. Is no chance it will cut 500m2 – no way!
I paid 300 for it but will say it shouldn’t be cost more than 200. Too expensive for it. Yes, does the job but for 20-30 minutes maximum with 2 batteries used. To cover medium size of lawn, 15x15meters you must be quick other way have to wait for new battery.
Will keep it? Yes but just because need battery operated, otherwise NO.
Overall the lawnmower works well and has a good sized storage container, its a little heavy but nothing major, its easy to replace the batteries and as it comes with two its enough to do both the front and back lawns (back is 130ft by 60ft) (front 20ft by 20ft) so should be enough for an average house, do wish the batteries did last slightly longer though.
The lawnmower is quite light with a generous grass collector. Theoretically, you could mow around 250m2 with the two provided 2Ah batteries. However, it only works if you set blade height at level 2 or even 3. The minute you set it to level 1, it begins to struggle and burn out a full 2Ah battery in less than 5 minutes (or much less). Otherwise, it is a great lightweight cordless lawnmowe
Absolutely brilliant works like a dream so happy I got this Lawnmowe
I had a mountfield petrol mower but found starting it hard once I began having heart & breathing problems so changed to a battery one & I’m so glad I did. I found this Greenworks mower incredibly easy to assemble & it’s maneuverability is so much easier than my old mountfield which is great as I have 17 trees to cut around & a pond with an irregular edge. I have only used it as a mulcher so can’t comment on the grass box. My lawn is VERY lumpy bumpy and I do need to tilt the mower onto its rear wheels in places but it never complains and still cuts well. My garden is also on a slight slope and again she works well. My only criticism is that the battery doesn’t last as long as I’d expected. I appreciate because of the unevenness of my lawn that the battery will need to work harder but having cut my lawn numerous times now I can state that the battery lasts between 8 to 12 minutes, not long enough to cut my back lawn in one go ( rear garden minus pond about 250sq meters.) It takes between 2 to 3 battery charges & I’ve been cutting it weekly on dry grass. The battery does charge quickly however not in 8 to 12 minutes so you are idle for a while whilst waiting for it to charge if you haven’t been able to complete the lawn with the 2 batteries supplied. The only other priblem i have enciuntered is that i find moving the height adjuster difficult, whether i am doing something wrong i dont know. The handles are easy to put up & down with the quick release bolt making storage & setting up really easy. Overall I am happy with the lawnmower & definitely do not regret buying it. I hope this review has been helpful.
I am so please with this – no noisey smelly heavy petrol that runs out and no lead to run over!
When I realised rechargeable electric mowers were there I knew this was the way forward for me. With this particular mower, I had never heard of the make but did a fair amount of research and found that it had good reviews everywhere.
My only issue is the batteries do not last as long as I thought they would – i need a recharge just before the end! But that may be because the grass was quite long. But it is so good and light that my wife likes to use it too! 🙂
Not sure why poor reviews here. Easy to put together. Cuts well. Battery life does our large back garden 30m x 15m no problem. Lightweight as I have back issue. Recommended.
There’s a lot to like about this mower. It’s a good size, it’s easy to use, is quiet and manoeuvrable.
The battery power is both its superpower and its achilles heel. On one hand it is a godsend to lose the cable, and a great alternative to petrol. On the other hand, the 2ah battery only lasts about 15 mins, covering a small space of garden (maybe 30 sq m), so you need to have spare batteries at the ready if you have a bigger space. The battery power also can’t cope as well with thick, long grass, so don’t leave it too long between cuts.
Overall I’m happy, but unless you have a fairly small and regularly maintained lawn, it’s not a realistic substitute for petrol.
I love this mower.the only downside was changing the cutting hight, but I got the hang of it quit quickly
and only one Key was supplied a spare would of been nice.
Duration with the two batteries about an hour, excellent collection leaves etc. And very quiet.
Bought to replace a corded mower. So far was easy to assemble and charge batteries. Quiet to operate. Cuts medium-long grass nicely, long grass it did struggle a little but still did it, just felt under powered. Lightweight to maneuvere, as expected much easier than corded mower. Battery life seems good.
I needed something light. My lawn has a drainage issue I cant fix. So I need a light mower, so that I dont destroy the grass with my other heavier mowers when its still not totally dry under surface. I had a bosch ergoflex before for same reason – it was light. This is even lighter. I think in specifications it says something like 14kg. It actually feels lighter. You can fly around the lawn quickly. It does drain battery quickly. I use only 4AH. But in general the greenworks batteries dont compare as well to the ryobi’s and ego’s. I marked one star down, because it does not have roller. They could easily for pennies added a roller like my old bosch. So if you want to stripe your lawn, this will not do it. Value is excellent. I already have 3 greenworks batteries. So to buy the tool only for this price was brilliant. Would highly recommend if you dont want to stripe your lawn.
Best mower i have ever owned so easy to use .
Works really well cuts good easy to adjust cut height light weight easy to clean good battery life
Works well but the lower handles move up and down, even when completely tightened. Further investigation to be done.
Lightweight but sturdy. Came with two batteries and a charger and seems to charge in an hour. I can do 20 minutes of cutting on one battery. Much better than messing with wires and always found petrol mowers need a lot of maintenance- so recommend
The problem with this machine was that 2 batteries are not quite enough for the size of our lawn. My neighbour and 1 now both have this machine so we have 4 batteries between us. Problem solved. Perfectly satisfactory lawnmower. Manoeuvrable works pretty well in wet weather. splendid.
This is not as sophisticated as the G Tech. Certainly heavier than its rival, however it cuts well and you get two batteries so overall a really good buy. Significantly cheaper than G Tech. So far I have used it four times and am very pleased.
Easy to use, cuts grass very well, no more wires, battery life good.
Good build quality, battery lasts about 25min per battery was able to do large lawn on one battery, more than I expected.
For years i struggled with a noisey petrol mowers, reluctant to see the wind of change, happy to sit in the garage mixing oil and petrol storing it in different containers, fumes galore fuel spills bad mix bad fuel after sitting in the garage… well all i can say is thank god the wife said you need some new tools lol lol and so i bit the bullet and converted and never looked back…. WOW
I actually enjoy mowing now I have this. The cut isn’t as good as I’m used to with a petrol mower, but I love the convenience, relatively light weight and manoeuvrability. The height adjustment goes up quite far to allow you to cut even quite long grass at a high setting, then lower it to do a neater cut.
Easy to put together, we have a medium sized front and back lawn and it’s so easy and quick to cut. So much easier than having wires. I’ve just changed batteries so they last well and having two is so convenient. I’ve got it on the lowest cut as anything else would be pointless.
Machine arrived well-packaged though the two batteries, in bubble-wrap, were just loose inside the box which could have caused some damage if the box was badly handled. Assembly simply consisted of unscrewing a couple of lever locks, inserting the upper part of the handle, and re-inserting the lever locks. A couple of cable guides needed the cable inserted through them, this may be where other reviewers have gone wrong because if the cable guides are positioned incorrectly then the cable could get trapped when the handle is folded down – a bit of common sense overcomes this. I already had a couple batteries from the strimmer in the same range so I could use it straight away. The 2Ah battery did last about 20 minutes, so with the 4 batteries I now have gives me well over an hour of mowing which is more than enough. Batteries recharge in about an hour.
The machine is very light and easy to move around. I’ve only used it with the mulching plug, which was already inserted, but I tried attaching the bag and that was straight-forward. The bag is semi-collapsible so needs a bit of space to store if not in use.
Apart from that, the height adjustment is easy enough, though the mechanism does seem a little flimsy – I don’t intend to alter it much so hopefully it won’t be an issue.
Cuts and mulches the various heights of grass I tried it on, the motor handled everything I tried it on except the very longest grass (which I would normally have strimmed anyway) when the motor did slow a bit.
Happy with the purchase and the 3 year warranty certainly gives peace of mind.
Item is excellent and would recommend it for a medium sized lawn. The delivery was disappointingly two days later than notified, but it was delivered by hermes. Probably not the best delivery company in the world
Wider than most lawnmowers, which reduces the time it takes to mow my patch. Only used it a couple of times, but it does pretty well and the battery lasts long enough to cut my medium sized patch. It’s not too keen on long wet grass, but that’s not unique to this model. There’s a plug in mulcher which shreds the grass rather than collecting it, which I haven’t used yet. It is fairly cumbersome to move, even without the battery. Simple to operate, and runs quiet too. The handle dismantles with a couple of knobs, rather than folding for storage as I would prefer it to.
The seller provided this item as describes, and the mower is better than expected, one Battery laster for my entire garden, 14 x 8 Metre grass lawn. I have recommended to my other family members and neighbours.
I don’t usually leave reviews but this machine is impressive.
It’s fairly heavy and very sturdy with a great battery life.
Remember to take the baffle out if you want it to collect the grass.
Recommended
Early days but up to now, happy with the mower. Easy to assemble and double battery pack more than useful as back up is necessary. Only two relatively small lawns to cut and manoeuvrability a little disappointing. The weight and moving to a lawn on a higher level is not easy. I would not discourage any purchasers based upon my first two weeks usage.
I like this lawnmower very much, it is easy to handle, cuts well, leaves stripes in the grass and the battery charges fast. Having two batteries is super if you have a lot of grass to cut.
This lawnmower has made such a difference to me; no trailing leads, does the job and the batteries are quick and easy to charge
Decided to try a battery mower when our petrol one became unreliable. Didn’t want to spend too much in case it was just not up to the job and found this.
When it arrived, pretty quickly I set about putting it together which was ridiculously easy. At this point my expectations where still on the floor I must add. The lawn was long and damp, never a good thing. Once both batteries where charged I had no choice but to give it a go.
Almost a Damascene conversion, it chewed through the lot, not faltering once. Admittedly on a med / high setting but it was very long grass. Two days later on a lower setting just as good.
Have used it mostly in pick up mode as our grass grows like crazy, however the mulching function is very good when it’s dry and not too long.
Battery life is great, usually get front and back done with one (approx 200 SqM) if not too long or one and a bit if longer or wet.
The mower is very light, easy to manoeuvre and pretty robust with a cavernous grass bag.
Highly recommend.
Very fast delivery. Easy to put together. Light enough for me to use (68 year old woman). Height adjustment very good. Easy to start. Test-driven just once so far and cut fine. Very pleased at the moment. No idea how it will last, fingers crossed.
Assembly in instructions clear as mud. I found a video on YouTube which was a great help.
Very easy to use, quite heavy for an oldie like me. Batteries last well. Easy to adjust heigh
I’ve left a product review on our Buntie and Daffers website
They sent the wrong battery charger with the mower. Replaced eventually after 10 days. Annoying and not very efficient. Mower easy to assemble. Cuts well
Really happy with that mower.
It’s my third cordless mower (tried other two major brands) but this one is the keeper. Where others struggled and run out of juice this one is happily ploughing through. To be fair it’s the first 40V I tried so that has a lot to do with above sentiment 😉
It has a lot of power, large container for grass, and doesn’t leave uneven patches, what more can you ask for?!?
It did cut off few times but on a very thick and long grass, obviously a feature to prevent engine from breaking.
We have a medium garden (back around 200sqm, front another 50-70) and two included batteries are just about enough for a single cut which I am happy with.
It’s still early days though so I might update that review later.
The mower was straightforward to assemble, and while doing this one of the two batteries was charging which took 30 minutes. The mower is safe and relatively easy to operate with a good choice of cutting heights. The lawn looked great afterwards. In 22 years of shopping with Amazon this was the worst shopping experience with a lack of information and transparency about the long delay in delivery, tracking that didn’t work, and the failure to empower the helpful and friendly customer care staff to make common sense decisions. Eventually at the end of the process following late and unexpected delivery I did receive an Amazon Gift Voucher that went some way to compensate for the poor service I received.
Cuts a good width. Struggles a bit on our mature lawn. Battery life OK. 300sqm garden used both batteries, only 3/4 done but cuts nice on number 4 setting.
I’ll give it 4.5, there’s alway room for improvement. This is a really good piece if kit. Easy to assemble, easy to use and manouverable. Doesn’t seem to cut as close to the edge as my old Bosch but, no cable so I can live with that.
Ok so I have really put this mower to the test in a very large garden with slightly wet grass which was about 6-8 inches long. First up easy to
Assemble and battery slots in/out super easy.. the grass collector works again very simply and the height setting is again super simple – all of this is really impressive from an ease of use.
Next it’s power and ability to cut – yes impressed with the power output and the cutting ability even in wet grass had to unblock a few times but to be expected in these conditions per any cable mower.
41cn blade length is plenty for small and medium gardens – this garden I’m at is very large think 600-800m2
The big challenge as I would expect with any battery operated mower is battery life. I have 1 x 2ah 1 z 2.5ah and a 1 x 4ah. I’d say the 2ah lasted about 25mins the 2.5ah about 30mins and the 4ah about 40mims but in heavy grass conditions. So
If you can afford 3 battheries then invest in the 4ah if you can get one.
This garden took me about 2hrs in total with emptying the cuttings in a barrow then to
Tip in mulch area.
I’d say this is a great buy for a medium/large garden amd someone who likes the energy release of pushing this as it’s light and moves well not power driven.
For a garden our size long term options is likely to be a wider blade of 50+ and need to work out if the carbon difference of petrol vs charging 4 x batteries equates
I also have the chainsaw, hedge cutters and the large strummer ( the legs strummer is excellent)
It’s a great machine for a decent sized garden. My garden is very large so the batteries do not get around it all and I have to wait for the recharge. Am currently looking to buy bigger battery. But overall it’s great.
Bought this to replace original Greenworks mower bought 7 years ago. Big improvement, much wider cut and a lot more robust. Easy to use and empty and does a perfect job.
I didn’t hold out much hope about this cordless, having briefly owned a cordless from a well known company – which turned out to be completely useless in terms of battery life, despite the amazing reviews telling you the battery life was great. Yeah, whatever. However – this cordless is next level. It’s bloody great and I promise this is a legitimate review. It comes with two batteries, I swap out one for the other and cut a huge area of lawn (uphill/downhill) using both batteries – with power to spare. Cutting power is awesome as is the collecting box. The mulch plug is a fantastic addition too. Genuinely love this lawnmower and doing my bit for the planet by no longer using a petrol piece of shizzle. Great piece of kit!
The only complaint I have is that the handle is not adjustable and, like most products, is designed for a 6′ male – not a 5’2 female.
Very satisfied with this mower although it us large it us not heavy and the battery last for us to cut 3 lawns each us a reasonable size and the grass collect bag is more than adequate for one cu
Gives a good finish and no wires to worry abou
My husband bought this and he loves it, it’s so easy to use and cuts the grass perfectly and has a long battery life too, it’s been the best lawnmower we have ever bought and we’ve bought a few!!
We have a large lawn (around 400 m), and I couldn’t be happier with this lawnmower. The mulching facility is first class, and saves endlessly emptying grass boxes — which on a lawn of that size is quite a pile! Having the two batteries is great: if, because you are mowing slightly longer grass, the battery fades, simply put the other one in, and put the drained battery back in the charger. Also, the fact that the batteries are interchangeable between different products in the Greenworks range is a major plus.
was a little worried about the power and lasting ability of this lawnmower but runs for a full 45 minutes on one battery and that’s on longish grass. So my worries were dispelled. would recommend it to anyone
As some one who just moved house and gained grass I can honestly say this is a great mower and it charges really fast. Really easy to use
Having had n electric mower and an awkward shaped lawn it meant 2 people needed to be there to mown the lawn making sure the cable didn’t get cut. This mower is brilliant can do it on my own at 77 years old – and female. The battery life is just great too and can get all the lawns cut using the 2 batteries – mind you so far the grass has been so long with the wet weather making it difficult to find a dry day – so really pleased with our purchase
Light, easy to use. Like it but haven’t fallen in love with it. Does the job, it replaced my self propelled Mountfield petrol mower (we downsized our home and garden). No real issues, does the stripes, good cutting height choice. Quiet. Quick battery charging. Easy to store and clean. Would I recommend it? Yes, but I haven’t tested it in a long thick lawn yet so have kept my petrol mower just in case. Smart looking .
Easy to use and bettery life good.. Cuts well and easy to push and manoeuvre. Some problems initially with getting it to start. but a call to Greenworks help desk sorted it out.. A good quality product.. The instruction manual could do with some improvement paricularly the quickstart diagram..
Like many others, I did a bit of research before choosing what is my first battery mower. I am really pleased with the 41cm size. The mowers is a great size and weight. It feels well made and is easy to assemble. All battery mowers seem to have some sort of compromise so research carefully before making your choice as I think you could be disappointed if you do not. I purchased this model because of the following features –
The Pros-
The easy he cut height adjustment
The slightly larger rear wheels
Single battery power
Compact fold away
41cm cut
Ergonomic soft handle
Easy manoeuvrability
After assembly I cut my already relatively short grass and list my initial perceived negatives-
Cons –
Lowest height setting not very short( as commented on by another reviewer but not really a problem to me as I think grass is better cut a little longer unless you want a bowling green!)
Grass collection box , although great being collapsible for storage, seem a little flimsy
To summarise, I think it’s a great mower and would definitely recommend anyone considering such a machine to consider it. It’s very early days for me but I think it will prove to be a good choice. I would have given 5 stars if the grass box had been better made and the lowest cut lower( for the benefit of those who would prefer a tighter cut)
UPDATE!!
Like many products, it is now 100 cheaper just a couple of months after I made my purchase!! i have bought the excellent hedge trimmer from the same Greenworks family and want to purchase the chain saw and other items but I will be looking closely at the prices before I do !!
Excellent bit of kit – cuts very well, massive collection box, and batteries seem to last for a good 20 minutes, of almost constant mowing.
Very lightweight and easy to use.Like the double battery system means good extended use.Compact for easy storeage.
limited to how short you can cut lawns not for bowling greens etc
Liked its 2 batteries didnt like the build quality no rear roller plus switches cheap and nasty.
Excellent item easy to use and plenty of battery life for my law
This is brilliant. So easy to start and use. Battery lasts well
With fields to 3 sides my garden is more of a flint riddled, mole hill infested, bumpy, sloping heath than Kew Gardens…mowers here don’t get an easy ride and whilst my old petrol driven Power Devil is hanging in there it only starts with easy start and more rips the grass out than cuts it these days. The idea of a leccy mower appealed (no petrol fills/oil changes/carb strip downs!) but the price didn’t.
Took the plunge at 210 with 2 x 40Ah batteries, charger and mulching attachment on a Black Friday deal as reviews were good – first chance to use was last week with second cut today.
Assembly was straight forward but the thin metal and plastic used along with sometimes vague instructions do give an impression of cheapness. On the plus side it has well thought out features such as easy grass box attachment, folding handle with quick release levers (though these don’t exude quality) and easy battery access.
Changing the cutting height isn’t obvious although this wasn’t helped by the red push-fit plastic indicator toggle having broken off – this was fixed with a cable tie through the hole to indicate height. Changing height raises and lowers all four wheels and isn’t required separately on each wheel as some do.
Although the listing says upto 600 sqm it’d have to be billiard table smooth and only in need of a top cut trim to get anywhere near that, with approx 370 square meters of wilderness to keep under control I’d scheduled a tea break half way through to recharge the batteries (the mower’s, not mine…) so with height set to 4 (second highest) out of 5 off we went for the first cut. Push a button, pull the lever and the motor spins to life. It’s not whisper quiet but then a 4 stroke 150cc with a blown exhaust certainly isn’t…
First impressions was the lightness – it must be half the weight of the old metal decked petrol mower, easy to maneuver and work in and around bushes, trees etc. No need for self propel drive that was a requirement for a petrol driven replacement.
After approx 25 mins you can hear the motor straining on the longer grass before it finally gives up, quick change of battery and 25 mins later what was a pasture now resembled something under control! A new record as it normally takes 90+ mins, a tank of fuel and I’m covered in dust at the end. Same experience today on height #3 (halfway).
In total I reckon I cleared 3 or 4 heaped wheelbarrows of grass on both batteries before they expired, it’ll be interesting to see what happens when things really get growing later in the summer and how long the batteries last as they wear. I always leave rechargeable batteries a good 15 minutes to cool after use before putting on charge, each 2Ah battery takes about 40 mins to charge from flat to full. I’ve yet to try the mulching attachment and how that’ll affect mowing or battery life; likewise durability, availability and cost of spares like batteries, blades, grass boxes etc is yet to be seen.
So in summary it’s well designed, light, quiet, efficient and 2 cuts in it seems to do the job. Even the gamekeeper next door was impressed!
On the downside it won’t get you anywhere near 600 sqm of advertised coverage and being plasticy I can’t see it lasting the distance as long as my old 85 petrol mower but I’m pleasantly surprised and with no filling, servicing, or mechanics expected I’m happy at this price point.
This machine is terrific, so much easier and quicker to cut my two medium sized lawn. I was surprised the battery lasts as long as they do. One charged battery does both lawns. Also comes with spare battery I alternate with. Mower cuts well and close to the edges. Easy to push, light and manoverable. Also much safer than a electric mower. Must say I am well pleased with my purchase and happy to recommend this product.
Well made lawn mower and easy to assemble. Have only used once but very impressed, plenty of height adjustments and battery lasted a long time. So far so good , would recommend to family and friends.
La machine est plus puissante que ce quoi je m’attendais. Les batteries se chargent trs rapidement et ont une capacit suffisante.
Very impressed highly recommend those petrol days and electric leads are prehistoric !
Long battery life – enough to cut my front and back approx 250 sq meters. Powerful motor and feels sturdy. Assembly is a matter of 2 minutes. Simple to adjust cut height. All in all I wish I’d done this years ago.
Battery last long time and charges very quickly, two batteries is agreat selling point ,means one on charge whilst useing the other .cuts well ,and very easy to set the length of grass hieght.
Trs maniable et facile pousser, pour mon terrain de 500 m2 et pas trop de bruit, je suis contente de mon achat.
Battery mowers are the way to go! So nice to say goodbye to smelly petrol. I have a very large lawn, took 2.5 batteries. Battery charges very quickly. Mulcher is great. Very light. Pleased with my choice.
Straightforward mower. Mulching plug is a great bonus. Two batteries help. Clever height system works well.
Love this mower. Cuts well, easy to manouever and love the fact that I don’t need the smell of petrol or wires everywhere anymore. Looks very cool too. Good price too.
It’s so light and easy to use. It’s the best lawnmower I’ve had. And I’m nearly 80. So pleased with i
The way to change the blade height was unclear in the instructions
