Bought this as our old corded strimmer (a Bosch one) was terrible, and we had recently purchased a 40V Greenworks lawnmower. The performance of this compared to the old one is like night and day. Very impressed. Was decent value for money too especially if you already have the battery packs.

Not as sturdy and powerful as a petrol streamer, but much more handy than the ones with cords. Does the job.

Perfect for me to use. Light weight, but still powerful.
Nothing wrong with the like new, just an open box, all parts were new and saves me nearly 20.

I bought this thinking it was the same size as my last strimmer, nope it’s way longer. Good strimmer though. Only used it once. But seeing as I’m under 5 feet it’s way too big for me. Someone in my family will be getting a good grass trimme

This tool works well for the size, deals with grass and weeds, nice and light for an old weak bloke like me, no pulling a string with the heart attacks like my heavy petrol machines, I can use the 40v battery that ce with the chain saw which is also great to use around the small holding. Reccomended

Great strimmer but I didn’t notice when I bought it that the battery and charger were not included.

I managed to get the battery and charger off Greenworks own website for the sale price of 85

Had I had noticed in the description that it wasn’t included I may have gone for something else.

However, the strimmer is VERY good, quite light weight and powerful enough that it cuts through even the thickest grass quite easily.

For me it lost a star as they could have put in bold or something about the battery and charger not being included.

Good little trimmer for light work.
I have many strimmers and brushcutters some petrol etc.
For the price in the sale, this is a decent light weight trimmer that I am happy with. I think you get roughly 20min trimming from a battery.

Very happy with this trimmer. The auto feed of the strimmer cable is a particularly good feature. Getting the handle position right for good balance is essential, but once done it is a joy to use.

The 40 watt power is excellent. I made an error in that I didn’t read the description that it didn’t have a battery or charger with it and had to fork out the best part of 100 to buy these. Found the strimmer larger than expected so if you have a smallish area to strim best to buy a smaller strimmer.

I am a great fan of this strimmer. I am a professional gardener & have a selection of some 5 machines for different applications
But for straight forward residential urban gardening g the his is excellent
Well balanced, good head speed, perfect work angle.

Used it for the first time and I’m really happy with its performance,
Its light weight and powerful, 2Ah battery really lasted a long time, the garden edges looks really crisp for the first time.
The trimmer head does not turn so you have to flip the whole trimmer to do edging (most profissional long shaft strimmers does not have the flip head feature which you will only find on short models as it would be impractical to flip the whole unit so absence of rotating head should not put you off)
I’m a short person and it didn’t feel too long for me despite some comments that suggested otherwise.

I bought Greenworks Battery Lawn Trimmer G40LT (Li-Ion 40V 30 cm cutting width 7000rpm variable speed control turntable & tillable motor head adjustable additional handle back in March 2019 and I am having trouble getting hold of new cord for this strimmer. You have put me onto a company in Swindon and they have send me some new one but these are blue cord and not the grey cord that was supplied with the machine. The blue one are useless and do not do the job. Please can I get the grey cord that was supplied with the original unit has this was the best for this machine. Hi,

Yes, we are the company in Swindon who are the UK agent for Greenworks machines and spares.

Greenworks Europe supply us with the x3 pack of nylon spools with the blue line.
The original grey line is not available to buy as a spare.

Very poor that they do not supply the grey cord that comes with the machine when you first buy it. Do not buy the blue cord because it not fit for purpose.
If I knew that I was not able to get the spares for the strimmer I would not have bought it. Come on Greenworks get it sorted.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI bought this as my old corded black and decker finally gave up! Decided to go for the more powerful 40v as I intend also to get a mower which I thought would need the extra power for that and the main advantage of this system is the interchangeability of the batteries.
First I should compliment Amazon and the seller for the very prompt delivery and good packaging.
Opening the box all the pieces were well packed. Instructions were easy to follow and assembly straightforward. The only point I make about that is that my model has a foam grip on the shaft just above where the secondary handle attaches which means there is in fact no room for adjusting that handle up or down the shaft. That said the position was fine for me.
The shaft itself comes in two pieces which connect together the top slipping over the bottom and secured by a pop up steel button which locks into a hole in the top sleeve and the joint is then further secured by a clamp with a large wing nut. This is where I have the main problem: if you want to change the angle of the cutting head from trim to edge you have to undo the clamp, depress the (very stiff) steel button, and then rotate the handle section. However there is no corresponding location hole for the steel button when the head is rotated in this fashion so the only method of securing it is to tighten the clamp. This works fine however I cannot help but think that it is not in fact designed to be rotated in this way. It is notable there are no instructions in the leaflet for how to rotate the head and nothing on the manufacturer’s website which suggests it is in fact rotatable.
I charged the battery and used it for the first time today. In use the first thing to say is this is quite a large tool and very heavy. It is very robust and build quality is excellent. However I did find it heavy. It is powerful and I could probably have managed with the less powerful 24v model as all I am using it for is trimming and edging a lawn but if you did have more substantial undergrowth to manage this would cope with ease. I do think it would benefit from a shoulder harness however. The Auto line feed worked well. The only problem was that due to the weight it was easy to let the head drop too low which meant ploughing rather than trimming. I also found the top handle awkward and would have preferred a pistol grip. Given the difficulty changing to edging mode I went round twice once trimming then edging. It is very irritating that a simple push button and twist has not been incorporated as my old b and d had. All in all it is a quality item and very powerful but practically not as adjustable as I had expected from the description.

Great product, had been away from home for a while and grass had become thick and matted, after trying my mains cabled strimmers first, which struggled I brought out the G40LT, chalk and cheese, it ripped through the work in no time without the hassle of trailing cable. Good battery life.
Product could do with a shoulder harness to support weight.

Whoever thought of having one battery to fit all of a brands tools, had a brilliant idea. It handy for the manufactures, because you keep buying other tools from their range. I think I have 5 GreenWorks gardening tools now – they all work well. If you have the opportunity to buy 2 batteries, go for it. Now and again GreenWorks makes that offer.

I invested in a Greenworks strimmer and hedge trimmer with 2 x 40V batteries and a charger in May 2019.
I have been extremely pleased with both products but unfortunately a few weeks ago the charger went “bang” and stopped working. I was told to contact Greenworks, as there was a 3 year warranty on the charger when it was purchased. After a short conversation with a very helpful person in Greenworks, a brand new charger duly arrived by post a few days later.
Thank you Greenworks for excellent customer service.

The instruction manual lest something to be desired although once I found the illustrated instruction leaflet at the bottom of the box everything became much clearer. Very easy to use and very efficient in the awkward corners!
The combination of the operating instructions for the Strimmer and the battery and associated safety instructions ran to nearly 430 pages in 27 languages – a lot of paper for very little information!

It works very well and doesn’t drain the battery too quickly. I think the shaft length may be too long for some people though and it’s heavier than the 18v cordless one I had previously. Still very pleased it and not silly expensive.

Powerful – probably more than I need for my small garden. I have the Greenworks lawn mower and this took the same battery, so decision made. My daughter used it to clear an overgrown patch of brambles, bamboo, thistles and nettles: all about waist height. It absolutely sailed through the lot apparently, in very short time and on one full battery charge. The area cleared is about 20ft square and there was not an inch of ground to be seen prior to the strimmer doing its thing. Sadly, I don’t have photo’s to add to this review, but apparently the neighbours were hanging over their fence to marvel at this wonderful strimmer. Highly recommended.

I bought the Greenworks G40LTK2 to replace an old petrol strimmer which I was having difficulty getting started after many years service. The petrol strimmer had plenty of power for getting through tough vegetation, but I used it mostly for trimming the edge of the lawn and cutting the grass and weeds on the roadside verge which are not too challenging (ie not many brambles) – however I do have about 70 yards of verge to get through. The G40LTK2 stuggled a little the first time I attempted the verge and I did have to re-charge it twice before I got through it, but it had got a little out of control. On subsequent cuts it has managed it on only one re-charge and it deals with grass trimming (and annual weeds) in the garden no problem. It does not get through the work as fast as the petrol strimmer but does the job – the thinner strimming line which other reviewers have mentioned is up to dealing with most things short of brambles. All in all I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I already had the battery and charger from my hedge cutters, so buying this was even better value, and when comparing it to my ancient little chorded Bosch strimmer, this Greenworks is certainly more powerful and the line on this seems so much tougher/longer lasting – and there’s two spools of it in the box. I’d say I notice the weight of it after a while, but I’m only a short a***

Downside is that it is longer than my old one but once you get the hang of it, it’s fine and it does trim really well

Easy to assemble with no cables to worry about. Good battery life and the battery fits all other Greenworks tools so no need to buy expensive add on batteries. I cut two lawns and strimmed a virtual meadow of long grass before the battery run out of steam. Short re-charge time. This is a beast of a trimmer which is very powerful. It tackles virtually anything and uses hardly any line which is dispensed automatically. Fantastc peice of kit!!! Highly recommended for the larger more challenging garden.

My first proper strimmer and decided to buy this one with the battery and charger, cheaper than buying separately.
I was put off petrol due to weight and maintenance. Once put together, 2 screws and a couple off tightening knobs and its ready. Battery charged within an hour. Only had to lengthen cutting wire once.
Used on my allotment and did a good job on nettles, grass and the odd bramble. arms were aching after 20 mins so happy when battery died after half hour.
Looking at getting the lawn mower next year as mine is getting old.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve been a Greenworks fan for some time now, having purchased the lawnmower and chainsaw. I honestly haven’t cared well for either, but they still work fantastically. So when I decided to get a cordless strimmer, this was really a no-brainer – after all, I already had the battery. Actually, the strimmer has exceeded my expectations in terms of power. Yes, it’s heavier than you’d expect of a cordless electric strimmer, but that’s in keeping with its performance. I usually wouldn’t write a review until at least a year in (most products work well at first), but I know Greenworks products are reliable and that this tool will continue to deliver good performance. If not, I’ll post another review.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersWe already have the excellent Greenworks portable pressure washer which uses the G-Max 40v battery system – as this line trimmer does too.
Contrary to some of the Q&A responses I read here, this model – the G40-LT – does use the G-Max 40V battery.
This isn’t the lightest bit of kit in the world, especially with the battery on board, but it is extremely powerful and does a great job – comparable to many mains powered trimmers I’ve had over the years but with no cable trailing behind.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis will take some time to getting used to as it is massive compared to my old Bosch strimmer..

I find the battery lasts in this ages, so use the one battery from mower to finish off with this strimmer.

It has responsive control, and certainly does a good job at strimming with little need to play with the cords.

It’s worth having if you have the lawn mower, but would be considered pricey if bought on its own when you add battery and charger.

I like this, it will just take time to learn how to best hold it, and make strimming even easier.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis is a large strimmer and very powerful for a battery-operated unit. My 2 amp battery gave me twenty minutes of intermediate cutting. It’s 40 volts, so the motor gives plenty of power. The 18 volt strimmers have to use twice the current for the same power. It’s designed for the larger garden, well built and really cuts through thick grasses and heavier growth. The downside is that the handle length is not adjustable and I found getting the balance correct for me, with the motor at one end and the large battery at the top, not easy. I made the unit much better and easier to use by fitting a neck strap to the inner handle clip and supporting the whole unit with my body, rather than having to use two hands to carry the whole weight. The batteries are ridiculously expensive compared to other manufacturers but I managed to get their compatible 4 amp battery included with the Greenworks portable jet-washer at a very good price via Ideal World.

The strimmer was easy to assemble with a few reviews of the instructions. Seems robust, well built, good grip(s) and easy to manouevre.

Only 4 stars as head does not swivel. Otherwise does what it says on the tin.

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersI got this because my petrol strimmer malfunctioned again and had to go for repair, and because I had the batteries having bought the 34″ lawnmower. My expectations were not high, especially when i discovered that the line was only 1.66mm thick whereas the petrol one uses 2.4. So I was amazed what this would go through. I wanted to recover some logs from an area which had become overgrown with weeds, some waist high, thistles and bramble. It chopped through the lot and the line did not break once. And I was exhausted before the battery was. The great thing about this is it is plug in the battery and play. No more retiring to the shed, finding the thing won’t start, cursing, cleaning the plug, filter, buying expensive ready mixed 50:1 petrol/oil and keeping taking the thing back to be repaired at eye watering expense. This does the business when I want it to , not when it deigns to start. And it doesn’t cost much more than getting a petrol one repaired if you already have the batteries.

Cracking tool for the garden. I’m a convert from petrol to battery. It’s much easier to use. No smelly petrol or noisy engine. A bit heavy but makes for a good workout.

I used the strummer to cut grass which was to high to mow. Also I use it to trim the edges on the lawns.

Loved the low noise, light weight, and efficiency. I am hoping that it is easy to replace the cord when the current one runs out (but I don’t know yet.

Very easy to use. Felt safe as there are no cables and no nasty petrol smells.

Great item but the balance seems all wrong to me …on the heavy side

I bought this since I was very impressed with my previous Greenworks purchase – a battery lawnmower. I will now buy their hedge-trimmer. The same battery powers them all.

Unlike the Greenworks cordless lawn mower which I purchased at the same time the strimmer feels solid and well made.
Could have done with a shoulder strap possibly but it does the job very well and I’m very pleased with it.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersWas formerly a petrol strimmer devotee but had fun and games with my last one so know the advice of a friend bought one of these. Lightweight, lighter than a petrol version at least, easy to swing and the self feeding line is problem free so far.

Forty five minutes on the battery but then you really need to take a break anyways because of the vibration.

    Very impressed so far.

Works well, powerful and easy to hold but really needs an adjustable head otherwise would give 5 stars!

    Pros Overall a great trimmer
Cons As i’m only 5ft 2ins the shaft is much too long for my height and cannot be adjusted.

It’s so light and maneuverable not to need a harness and has more than sufficient battery life in one charge for what I want to do.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a great item easy to use and no heavier than a petrol one and without any of the hazards you get from petrol, plus there is little maintenance, (spilling petrol & getting the petrol home.

Very good product, already have the lawn mower. Batteries good and charge in 45 minutes.

So easy to use. charge the battery and off you go. No fade or problems. I use two of these to keep a cemetery grass short and they are brilliant.

It uses the same size battery as the Greenworks mower (which I have reviewed elsewhere and by which I am not impressed). Easy to use; very convenient with the absence of wires but not quite the control of other strimmers I have previously used.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersAn excellent strimmer and unlike a lot of others it is easy to re-cord it. It last for ages on a 40v 2ah battery. I started with a Greenworks mower with 2 batteries and now have the strimmer, the hedge trimmer and the chainsaw. All running from the same batteries that charge within an hour.

Purchased this after using a Greenworks battery lawn mower. These products are so well built and reliable to use.
