What do most 18 month olds like? Toys that they can play with alone or with adults; colour and flashing lights; things to take out and put back; things o stack – and above all – NOISE! This has all of that, and was an immediate success with our grandson. He learnt very quickly how to put the bits and and out of the tentacles, and that banging the tops would make lights flash and music play. Nice that the music is so varied, not just the normal tinny nursery rhymes that drive everyone mad within minutes. Overall, all very pleased with our choice!
This octopus toy has many sounds relating to musical instruments. I think the appropriate age would be at least for a 1year old and olde
The kids love this. They fight over it and the older has taken to hiding the knobs so the younger can’t play with it. So clearly they love it. It plays a big range of sounds and it is great for fine tuning motor skills learning to put the little knobs. One of the arms no longer plays music as the button on it has broke, this happened within a couple of weeks.
I got this so I can get my daughter accustomed to the various sounds from the various instruments.
The design is pretty much simple. There is the octopus base, in which one attaches the buttons. Now, here’s a bit of a catch; one has to put the right button in the right slot to ensure that the sound and the picture on the button align. There is nothing really to help you with that, other than you pressing down each tentacle and working out the tune!
Now, the reason I titled it like this is that a few of the songs on the rock and play modes are old rave classics!!! I ended up finding myself pressing on these myself while playing with my daughter and reminiscing on times gone by!
The main button lights up, so technically you can use it at night, although I’d only recommend sticking to the instrument buttons if you do, because the play and rock ones are cheerful tunes that I doubt will rock your baby to sleep!
Overall, a decent addition to one’s arsenal of instrument identification; also, very good if you, like me, are in your early 40s, and can associate with some of the tunes!!!
Priced at 25.98 is quite expensive in my opinion for baby music toy but to be honest this was really cute and my 8 month old seemed to love this !! This is quite fun and catchy to play with, very durable and perfect for little ones with sensory and other things too! Overall good toy overall and would recommend!
