I bought this for my husband at Christmas. He’d always wanted it even as a child. It didn’t disapoint! Great game. We played as a family new year & we all enjoyed it!
Bought this as a Christmas gift for my 6 year old niece as I loved this game as a child. I was lucky enough to have a game with her on the big day! Nicely made and seems sturdy enough, so hope it lasts as long as the original did for me! The only negative is I do feel the makers have tried to be a little too politically correct with the characters. I remember the questions from when I was little and it was things like “have they got glasses/a beard” etc but the newer version does make it harder.. Although my niece did win by asking as her first question if my card had red hair (it did and there are only 2 players with red hair).
Me and my daughter love playing this simple game, hours of fun!
It’s a fab game that we wanted to play as a family with our 3yr old. It’s great that the people represent diversity now. Although the pictures are quite small and the pieces feel much flimsier than I remember.
I got this for my 7 and 6 year old for Christmas. Just as good as I remembered, we’ve all had lots of fun playing with it. Only down fall is the boot doesn’t kick the bucket hard enough to make the ball fall down the maze but apart from that would definitely recommend.
Thought the board itself was missing and the game incomplete but it was stuck to the bottom of the tray. There was certainly panic as it was a gift from Santa! Not constructed like the original!
Got this for my sons Christmas. He’s just turned 6 and loves it. Took about 15mins to set up but now I know what I’m doing it quick to master. Works a treat, seams to trap the mouse better than my old 80s game. Would recommend. Son has played with it for over an hr.
Bought for son for Christmas. Didn’t realise it was a minimum of three players so I had to play but was surprised how much fun it was considering it wasn’t the sort of game I would have chosen to play.
Has kept my son, husband and I entertained over the holidays and we have had some serious battles. Would recommend as a great family game.
LOVE THIS GAME!!!!! QUALITY IS INCREDIBLE! PEOPLE IN GAME HAVE FUNNY FACES! HAS LASTED OUR FAMILY MANY MANY FUN FAMILY NIGHTS OUT! DEFFO RECOMMEND TO ALL THE FUN FAMILIES OUT THERE! (p.s . game is funnier when you don’t look at the rules)
A classic game!when did boardgames become so expensive!! Anyway, must admit it is a little flimsy. One heavy handed person could easily snap the plastic table top of the game. The buzzer and light are really weak too. Not sure I’d buy againsuch a shame it’s become poor quality. Especially for the price!
Having trouble keeping the cars tyres sitting up while playing this game, so not really worth the money.
both my children had this game when younger and had great fun so this has been bought for my 7 year old grand daughter as a xmas present. she has had one before but the piece rhat picks up to small pieces is broke so cant play it so this is a replacement game and hope she has as much fun as i remember we did in the past as a family playing this.
Can’t beat the old school classics the Grandchildren can have lots of fun with their mum and dad keeps them off the Ipads or watching Netflix for an hour or so
The game itself is fantastic, the kids love it but unfortunately I received one with quite a few missing parts.
Had to return and purchase from a store and make sure the parts where all in there before I left as a few people have said the same issue.
The game is a Christmas gift for one of my grandchildren and as with all my other purchases from Amazon I am confident it will be a perfect gift. Love ordering from Amazo
Poor quality build as expected as nothing is made with quality anymore. The game does not last very long as there is a limit to how many questions that can be asked as is too politically correct.
Great gift, Great to play with all the family. Very sturdy.
This has long been a favourite with the kids, but we lost it, so needed a replacement.
It makes a change from board games and is quite portable as no tiny pieces to lose. Just remember to bring it home!
more flimsy than when I grew up. Heads don’t flip easily. They often need to be manually flipped. Still, a great game which provides lots of fun and stimulation for our boy.
Compared to the quality of the original game, it’s not good, cheap weak plastic that could snap very easily, pockets keep breaking off the board. Spoils it as the game itself is fu
Just what I wanted and expected. Arrived ontime. Kids and grandkids love it. Cheaper than the shops.
Old favourite game from when I was a kid get The family involved for good clean fu
This game is one of the best game I’ve ever played I love playing at my friends love playing with my family love playing it and I highly recommend it amazing
My son really loves this game and we enjoy it alot. The only thing is that when the questions are asked ” does she have blue eyes” or “does she has glasses” not alot are left so then the games are over really quickly and we both guess it correctly over and over again
I used to play this game 10 years ago with my brother and it was totally different with the characters.
Had this as a kid myself now I’ve bought it for my kids, we love it … even though it grinds my gears that I have to set it up and pack it away each time 🙂
My son had wanted this game for ages, so finally took the plunge when it was reduced on Prime Day.
I had mixed memories of it from my childhood days – mainly of it being a gimmick and no real gameplay behind it.
However we are really pleased with it. After spending a few minutes building the contraption (very easy with plain instructions) the game is ready.
Players move their mouse piece around the board trying to collect cheese wedges as they go. Different squares on the board have different meanings eg get some cheese, loose cheese etc, but the highlight for the kids is when someone lands on one of the Trap squares…. They get to activate the contraption which cleverly transports the ball across the board and concludes by trapping the mouse.
Yes, novelty may soon wear off, but kids love the Trap.
A classic game which keeps the kids happy and brings a bit if nostalgia to the parents.
Would recommend, especially if it’s on sale.
I bought this for my niece’s 14th birthday present following a hint from her dad. Her reaction was priceless – she and a friend play this and love it. Not my type of game but was lovely to be thanked enthusiastically! 🙂
Plastic feels cheap nothing like the original one but it’s better than them card board ons you find in smaller shops
Pretty flimsy but that’s the way games are now, so can’t really hold it against them too much. They just aren’t built the way they were when I played as a kid. Good fun and recommended.
Classic and still holds up today. 5 year old really enjoys this and because no reading is required it’s a great board game for youngsters that can’t read questions etc Gives her a real sense of inclusion/independence as she can play one on one with an adult – and often wins!
I’m a little disappointed with the quality of the boards because the flip tiles at times need jiggling about to get them back in place. If they were connected via a single end to end rod that would have been much better but they arent. Sadly this means that in all likelihood it wont last very long.
Brought this for my 7 year old who loves playing with it and my 4 year can also manage. I understand people’s comment that it is not as sturdy as what they had when they were younger. However if you look past that it’s still and enjoyable game and fit for purpose.
Little bit on the cheap side but I guess that’s reflected in its price.
What a game…you get very competitive playing Risk. You want to take over the world and remove your competitors…
Really good game for older families…
The character cards are a nice size with colourful artwork.
The flip board works well, but they do sometimes stick a little bit when you flip them.
But that’s no big deal. A nice game to play on those rainy afternoons.
Good spin on an old classic brought for my 6 year old sons birthday. We’ve had fun playing this game. Brings back memories from my childhood. Glad I purchased it!
I remember the old guess who from 30 years ago. When I had it was more sturdy and better quality.
The flip boards now so light and looks like all these games are even done cheaper now.
Not like the good old days as they say!
Anyhow, bout for my 4 year old to learn to play as I had great memories of these games as a child.
We both sat with a board each and his dad had the person on a card we had to guess.
I know hes too young for it as it’s really age 6 upwards but it was educational for him asking the right questions and us putting the pictures down learning together.
Entertained the children but difficult to lift individual pieces without coming away, you just have to be careful. Just a typical game that the plastic feels cheaper not really tested it’s durability ye
Classic child’s game. I love games like this. They only take a few minutes to play but generate so much fun. Maths can be incorporated too to make it educational, count how many balls each hippo are.
It’s crazy how poor/cheap quality these games are in comparison to the originals from your childhood – this seems to be one of the worst. The plastic is so cheap quality that the character slats often snag when putting them up.
It doesn’t detract from the game but it would be so nice to be able to get the original – with the quality build and original characters.
A little complicated for my 8 year old girl, but my 10 year old son loves it, can make up easier way to play though. Happy with it but can go on for hours so be warned tension can rise!.
We’ve only had this a couple of weeks, but so far we’ve had good of fun. The trap course is a hit with lots of danger and excitement around stealing cheese!
Didn’t like; the ball sometimes gets stuck, but we’ve just incorporated that into the game. So yes, we’d recommend!
Now who doesn’t love a game of operation?
Great game to play with the family especially of your competitive it can can very tense. Haha. My kids loved it and always laughed when it beeped because it made them jump.
I remember it use to be much Sturdier then it is now. But doesn’t affect use of game/playing.
Great game for the family!
My goodness, you could play this for hours! Exactly the same game as when I was younger, just different pictures and now has a score chart on the board! Delighted!
Fantastic Game to play as a family.
Classic & Must Have for those rainy days
Children had these for Christmas and birthdays and are happy with them
You’ve all played Mouse Trap, so I shan’t bother re-reviewing it for you. Instead, I’ll point out that this is pretty much exactly the same game you remember, but with better quality pieces, making it a must-have for any board game enthusiast – the mouse holes and trap tiles add an element of strategy to the game, whilst the trap itself provides entertainment for younger players.
One thing I can’t help but wonder, is what on Earth was so wrong with the classic ‘base and lid’ board game box design that the designers decided that they needed to change it? It takes twice as long to put away now as it does to set up, which is only a very minor complaint, but still… Why?
Don’t let that dissuade you from buying this though – it really is a great game for all the family.
Great this is the updated Guess who kids love i
Made up quickly and granddaughter lives playing it with grandad
Bought two sets for cousins in different households so they can play over Zoom together during lockdow
Fun easy to play game – I struggled a bit with the instructions at first as I hadn’t played it before and they were rather long with different versions of the game. However once we started playing it was pretty straightforward after we had a ‘trial’ game. We played classic risk which took a long time (had to leave it overnight!) but there are other shorter versions (secret mission and capitals) which we will probably play more often. The board is good quality. It was a nice change from screentime and my teenage son enjoyed it much more than a lot of other board games.
This has gone down amazingly with my 4 year old! She LOVES this game! We love playing it with he
My little boy loves this game, so much so that we have a set at home and one at the grandparents! It’s definitely not as sturdy as the 1980’s edition but not much is these days! Definitely worth the money, we’ve already played atleast 100 times since Christmas!
I loved this game as a child but unfortunately this is no where near as good as the older versions. The cards are very small and can easily be lost/damaged. The plastic is super cheap and potentially can be broken easily. In addition they seem to catch so flipping and unflipping is an absolute chore at times. This is probably a cost cutting measure, so although the game itself hasnt changed the quality of the product is very poor.
Just as fun as I remember from when I was a kid! The product itself is great, it’s a classic game for family fun.
The kids are loving it.
Granddaughter very happy, we have had good fun playing this game .
I had hours of fun with this game as a kid so we bought if for our nearly 6 year old and he’s loving it too! Good for reading practice and easy enough for him to play with anyone. I’d recommend!
Bought as Christmas gift for four year old grandson. Great fun easy to assemble and use.
Overall the game is good but the quality of material is not grea
Came in a French box but English playing cards inside. No longer beeps like it did when I was a child. Butttt that said it’s still a great game, hilarious watching my 4 year old little girl play it. Infact my partner is just as bad as her haha! Great fun!!
A really fun game for people of all ages. Would recommend.
What a great training tool. I am currently a surgical junior in a well known hospital in the UK. The resident surgeons will not let me near a scalpel, tweezers or those forecep thingies.
I can now say I am a master at removing the bread from the bread basket and can remove a broken heart. ( Can’t mend it though )
Anyways I am about to go scrub up to preform my first surgical procedure on a real human. I have 2 AA batteries to insert into his rectal cavity and I will keep pulling stuff out with tweezers till his nose turns red and he vibrates off the slab.
Wish me and my patient luck.

I played guess who as a child and loved every minute of it.
This has not changed, our boys love it. It is not as chunky and solid as I remember but it is absaloutly fine. Some assembly required.
Not as good as the original set I got in the 80s as a child lol but very good. Highly recommended. Made us all laugh and teach my children about memory, clever questioning and just laughing a lot whilst competing.
Kids love it, doesn’t seem to built like they use to be when i was little but so long as it treated right, it will las
We bought the game Mousetrap for our 6 year old Grandson for his birthday. He was absolutely delighted with it and it was set up for him to play with almost immediately it was unwrapped. His 8 year old brother also enjoyed playing with it too.
Would definitely recommend.
Great game just as I remember from my childhood. It’s not changed at all. Still a little bit flimsy but doesn’t take from the game at all. Bought as a gift for my nephew and everyone enjoyed playing it from the toddlers to the grandparents.
Bought to keep us entertained during lockdown. It does exactly what it should do. No complaints.
Classic board game and still great fun after all these years but slightly disappointing as now it only vibrates when you go wrong whereas the old version had like a siren/buzzer noise which was much better in my opinion as it made you s**t your pants when it went off.still very good though
Bought this as a bit of lockdown fun for the kids and it’s already had plenty of use.
Its just as I remember from being a kid too.
Its easy to assemble, the mechanisms all work fine and there have been hours of fun so far. Some games can be a little short and others can drag on but that’s more down to the luck of the dice than anything else.
The little story that goes with the instructions is a nice touch to get the kids bought into playing first time around too.
I thought it might be a game where the novelty wore off, but it seems as though this is one that our kids (aged 6 & 3) keep coming back to. They’ve even got their grandparents involved now too.
Great fun.
Really needed something to do together during lockdown. A good all round family game
Quite flimsy material than expected. Still a great game though
I bought this game as a present for my Boyfriend. We enjoy playing board games instead of just watching TV of an evening. This game is great fun and lasts the right amount of time (on average). It’s great for those who are competitive, but also has tricks and turns that you are not expecting; so when you think you’re winning a sudden move may mean you’re losing.
Would highly recommend this game, however to start with it can be a little confusing until you understand exactly how to play.
I’ve always loved risk, but never really had anyone to play with, sad times!
So I’ve played variations on my phone all of which are great fun but nothing like the pleasure of crushing your opponents in the flesh!!!!
I described the game to my 7 year old daughter and she liked the sound of the game, so I jumped at the chance to buy it. I did actually try to find it in a store but nowhere stocked it, thankfully Amazon did!
I have to say I prefer the old playing pieces, which were shapes like triangles, rectangles and cylinders now they are soldiers, cavalry and cannons maybe an improvement on the cylinders actually as that was a pain if the board got knocked and pieces rolled everywhere! I just found them easier to count out and view on the board.
There are now new games to play quick versions like missions where you have to capture your opponents capitals, or take control of a specified continent or 20 or so countries, to be honest You naturally gravitate to capturing continents anyway, so we didn’t bother on those in the end, a game would still span a few evenings!!
Gameplay is as good as ever, and as annoying when you are losing that is!
My daughter won the first game, well I had to engineer that one to keep her interested.
She enjoys it, the wife not so much. Second game I won, third game my daughter triumphed again but by her own merit, she took on board to control Australia as soon as possible, I’ve also never seen anyone able to destroy massive armies or defend with so few troops.
This is still a game that can take a long time to complete, so don’t be tempted to add your rules or keep the cards counters sets to a fixed amount, it does speed up the game when you can trade in a set of cards that then increase the next time a set is traded in, eventually you can get large numbers of troops which can rebalance the game quickly or mop up the board.
One thing we are guilty of is for each new game we deal out the country cards, rather than each of us choosing a country one after the other, I felt it wasn’t fair at the start if you have never played before.
All in all still a great game.
We love this game and my little one interact as well while we play it .
The only down side is that the hippos are getting stuck while we playing pushing it down so we have to push it back inside every time during the game…not sure how long does this last fo
Risk is one of those classic strategy board games you have to have if you like the genre. The secret missions are giving an additional layer to the game too. It isn’t particularly easy to learn and quite a long winded game, so don’t expect to finish in half an hour. But that’s of course also the charm, as you have to think about your strategy carefully. 🙂
My son absolutely loves this game, it’s a lot of fun. I’m also glad that the characters don’t look like caricatures, unlike some of the other guess who’s I’ve seen.
I remember playing this in my childhood so thought I’d buy it for my kids – during this current situation where we’re all locked indoors – and I’m glad I did. The kids have taken to it very quickly and we have had a lot of games since they got it. The board game certainly distracts the kids from the usual Playstation/XBox and has been a welcomed replacement for both of these.
GAMEPLAY
The game is fairly easy to play although slightly more complex than I remember but once set up it is easy to get into the game.
PRESENTATION
The board is quite large and the playing pieces are made of soft plastic. It’s a shame the playing pieces (infantry, cavalry and artillery) are not more neatly constructed with some pieces feeling a bit rough. Its also a shame the set didn’t include more modern looking pieces rather than historical-looking pieces.
OVERALL
I’d highly recommend this game as it will keep kids entertained.
Loved this game as child, I thought for the price it is too expensive for what it is though so I purchased a cheaper vision half the price – that was a absolute waste of money! It was smaller in size, harder to set up and too fiddly to play! So I gave In and paid full price for the original! I haven’t regretted it! It’s perfect and my children love it now they can play properly! It also arrived very quickly.
My daughter loves this game. Characters are good too. Bit plastiky and cheap looking but they all are nowadays. It has to be partly assembled-fit the paper characters in the plastic slots.. I remember when it used to be so much more robust and the characters were pre stuck on but still, great board game
Great fun for kids ! Don’t play it when you got a looming headache , it’s a noisy game
Not changed much since I was little, keeps kids busy for quite a while.
Only scored 3 stars on sturdiness as this game does get a lot of bashing and abuse and sometimes the plunger gets stuck. It also requires some manoeuvring to put the game together!
Such a brilliant game, definite favourite in the friends group. We first got into Risk when someone bought us the Game of Thrones version, wed been told the original is great so thought we would give it a go. Love is just as much, even though it’s the same range of games it’s still so different. Can seem complicated at first but just takes time and practice to get comfortable with it, definitely helps playing for the first time with someone who’s played it before if that’s possible.
The most infuriating game ever. I had good memories of playing as a kid so ordered for my son. I am still as rubbish at it as I ever was and the buzz haunts my dreams.
However its construction has cheapened over the years but it still works and sticks true to the original. Son loves beating me at it as well
A great game but not for young kids unless they are very bright and switched on. Quite a lot of rules to learn, and not that easy to grasp the strategy.
Fir me it was great as I had this game as a child and could recall most of the rules. Also don’t expect to finish early as you will need at least 4 hrs for one game with two players and it could go on all day if the players are well matched.
One annoying thing is that the pieces consist of plastic soldiers, cannons, and horseman which might be authentic but are a bit fiddly. The original version just had coloured counters which worked better.
I bought this because of the variants over the original game, and it definitely delivers. Have played with ages from 6 to adult this Christmas. However, the plastic figures are not as easy to handle as the original wooden blocks, and the visual design is rather fussy and old fashioned. The 1960s version looks more modern! Still a very enjoyable and fun game.
Anything which gets my 10 year old son off his ipad is great… when he then plays Risk for 5 hours a time then it’s a winner! A classic game – highly recommended! (Just allow a good few hours – not a quick game!)
I wasn’t too sure if my neice would enjoy this as she is obsessed with her iPad however surprisingly she really did. It was easy to assemble. Body part pieces are quite small so I’d be very careful if you’ve tot any little kids around. I recall having this toy as a child and now to gift it to my neice is exciting…unfortunately, has spent 30 minutes and then got bored.
Hit the like button.
Loved this game as a child and now my little nephews and niece love it to. In fact us adults join in and play the game with them! The price was excellent (10 – cheapest I could find in shops and online). Speedy delivery (prime customer). Keeps the kids entertained for a while which is a plus for anyone 🙂
This is (to the best of my hazy memory) exactly the same game, albeit slightly updated in the graphics department, to ‘Mousetrap’ I played as a nipper. I’m now 47. The wonky staircase is there, the plumbing and bathtub and most importantly, the diver into the wooden tub that catches the mouse. In short, my 5 yo loves it….the look of glee when it’s ‘mousetrap time’ says it all! 10/10
Bought for my nieces birthday (age 4) – her mum wanted to play it with her, relive her own childhood no doubt. Looks like it always did but I personally am not keen on the box – didn’t like the hole where his nose sticks out and it just felt a bit cheap from how i remember the original one. I’m sure they’ll have lots of fun with it though!
Everyone knows mouse trap so lets just say its a classic game for the family – very fun to play with a massive gimmick of watching the trap activate.
This however is also where frustration kicks in – its not the fact you have to reset the trap each time a player launches it, its the fact the trap activates when its not due to…
Its so temperamental that a slightest knock of the table will set it off and its a race to stop the trap and reset it up.
Id have thought after literally decades of this game existing theyd have figured out a tighter mechanic for the traps but its as I remember it when i was a kid, guess not much innovation.
Still a fun game and bought in a 3 for 2 deal
We love Risk and have been playing it since the nineties. We like this slightly upgraded version of the game the most as it feels the closest to the original. This is a great game for teens and adults alike. If you have never played, my advice is not to get emotionally sucked in as nothing is personal though it can feel like that when your men are being systematically destroyed. It only means that one of the players has been given the mission to destroy you. Still very enjoyable after all these years.
I bought this for my kids for Christmas and they love it. When buying I noticed that there are two versions of Mouse Trap on the market, both made by Hasbro, which is quite confusing. I read loads of reviews and found endless complaints about the build quality of the new version, to the point where most people say it is unplayable. This version – Classic Mouse Trap – on the other hand, I am glad to say is brilliant. The pieces are robust, it links up perfectly, it works. It will take an adult or older child to set up each time but that only takes a couple of minutes and is no longer than most games. Once set up it is very simple to play and all my children (8, 6 and 3yrs) all love it and understand how to play.
This game brings back fond childhood memories for me and is well enough made that it will last a long time now for my kids, unlike most games made nowadays.
Having been introduced to the game of Risk by another family member, we quickly became addicts. We prefer this version to the older version that we had played before as this version has Secret Missions which make the game a bit shorter and add an extra element. The board is visually appealing and there are colour-coded treasure chests to keep pieces together, which was a nice little feature. A great strategy game. Corner of box was slightly damaged due to Amazon driver throwing parcel over the gate, but this does not affect the game.
Classic Risk, very neatly laid out with boxes and everything, very happy.
Now for a Classic Risk story:
“To the south lay water. We couldn’t cross that. East and west, two armies squeezed us in a pincer. The only way was north. I had to go for it and pray the gods were smiling on me. I picked up the dice and threw two sixes. Caldicott couldn’t believe it. My go again. Another two sixes!”
A J Rimme
Bought as a gift, child wanted it for ages it arrived in very good time for the occasion and was well packed well worth the money. gave me a bit of a fright though it says on the box try me so i pressed the nose and it vibrated the whole box very powerful. Child thought it was very funny and has played with this alot.
Risk is a brilliant game and so well known I’m not going to say too much about the gameplay, just that this set includes instructions for several ways to play including a handy two player version. This set is beautiful, well made with lots of attention to detail and a nostalgic classic feel. The troops come in cool little card crates to keep them safe and a flatpack box is included to stash the cards. The box inlay is nicely laid out and pretty sturdy.
It’s worth pointing out that the dice arrive hidden in one of the troop boxes so if you think they’re missing when first opening the box, check the rest of the items before complaining.
When I first open the box and found empty the dice places, I thought they were missing. Apparently, this is a common issue with this product, reading the reviews. My advice is to check all the pieces before returning it back! The dice were buried into one of the troops’ boxes.
I finished playing a full game with my partner not an hour ago, so this review is fresh from the actual experience of this board game to all of you who are thinking of buying this product!
Contrary to what other buyers seem to have experienced, judging from their respective reviews, the game is neither too difficult nor to easy to play. The spaces where all the ‘ailments’ are supposed to be set are just narrow enough for the game to provide the player with some challenge, otherwise it would indeed be a walk in park! All the ‘ailments’ are included, as is a set of cards. That might be a variation to other versions of Operation as there is only one deck of ailment cards with an item description (in tongue-in-cheek verse) and the value that each ‘extraction’ will credit to the player(s). Therefore, those of you who are familiar with a distinction between ‘doctor-‘ and ‘specialist cards’ may be disappointed. However, in actual practice, this differentiation just makes the game a tad simpler without any negative impact on gameplay enjoyability. In addition, the batteries needed are included as well.
On the negative sife of things, what prevented us from giving this version a full 5-star rating was the fact that the buzzer does not actually ‘buzz’. Rather, the whole board vibrates every time the tweezers touch the metal frames but no sound is ever produced. At the time of writing this, the seller has been contacted and a relevant inquiry has been made regarding this issue as it might just be consistent with this version of the game. An update will be made as soon as we hear back from them.
All in all, this board game makes for a very enjoyable experience and this particular version is almost devoid of flaws, and at a good price too!
My friend was very happy with this product & we have played it several times since purchasing. Really happy with this buy!
