Wish we’d have bought one of these years ago. We’ve had a couple of the other leading brands which are far more expensive and nowhere near as good. Hoover technology does not need improving – Henry has it all. Good suction, bag holds A LOT before needed emptying and doesn’t lose suction along the way, easy to store away in the corner of the hall, bags are cheap to buy etc What more do you want from a hoover? Get one!

millions of commercial cleaners can’t be wrong! This is a no-frills, brilliant machine. Suction is excellent, and with the turbo head it is great if you live with pets or people with long hair. It has a handy storage space for the various hose attachments. You can knock this about all day long and it probably won’t break. Not much else to say really, except that I will never go back to handheld or ridiculously overpriced 400 vacuum cleaners agai
I think Henrys are the best value for money vacuum cleaner there is. They are incredibly robust and withstand many years being dragged around houses having much DIY going on. We also have cats – up to 5. They really do last. My last Henry was the bigger version and was demoted to the garage when I bought the smaller Hettie. After 10 heavy duty years, Henry was starting to have a switch issue so Hetty was demoted to the garage and I bought the newer Henry, as Henry is now available in the same size as Hetty. They do lose a some suction when the bag fills but it’s easily fixed by changing the bag. Then you really notice how powerful they are. They can be used bagless. I use a bag as with so many cats I throw a flea collar into the bag too. For carpet, I would recommend adding a turbo head.
Over the years different makes and models have come, and gone, but the Numatic Henry has stood the test of time. OK so cordless may be marginally more convenient, but for me, the lack of power of cordless machines mean they can never beat a Henry.
Fantastic power in such a compact unit and so maneuverable, whether in the house or when vacuuming the car. So easy to use, and brilliant results. The comprehensive tool kit lets you get almost everywhere and these are so easy to swap and are carried on Henry.
Simply put, you can’t beat a Henry !
I love this little hoover. He’s so cute, but also has so much power! Ideal for my carpets and floors as well as the hard to reach areas. Like all Hoover’s of this type it’s more difficult to get up the stairs, though he’s not heavy, so you can carry him up while using one of the smaller brush tools to clean the stairs with. Probably wouldn’t recommend this to elderly people, though.
It also uses a bag filter instead of one of those dusty cylinders which you need to clean…. which is great. Just take the bag out and bin it. No mess at all and zero chance of anything getting stuck in the suction engine.
This thing is great! And my cleaner is just as excited as I am with this new family member!
This was my 3rd hoover in 3 years had a vax, a Dyson and a basic hoover following purchase I can confirm you can never go wrong with a Henry, don’t be a d*** remember to clean it regularly (nozzle, attachments and carefully the hose) and it will last somewhat Indefinitely, my partner can be cleaning mad and has hoovered for 3+ hours a decent amount of dog hair, 2 rugs and 4 rooms. It overheated slightly (smelled hot and dusty) however has ran perfectly since and following subsequent cleaning sessions. 5/5 awesome produc
I’ve had three Henry vacuum cleaners ever since a lady who cleaned at a police station told me they were the best vacuum cleaners ever because there was nothing about them that could go wrong – they just sucked up the dirt (and probably the odd coin, hairclip etc). Still grateful to her some years later when I ordered a new Henry recently. There IS nothing that can go wrong. I’ve three hair-shedding dogs and two lesser-shedding cats so vacuum every day and the latest Turbo Henry is even better. It also seems to be quieter than the previous two were. The bags are simple to change and readily available in shops and on-line. I can’t foresee myself buying any other type of vacuum cleaner again.
I’ve had a couple of Henry vacuum cleaners in my time and have always found then to be very reliable and last a long time – this was is up to the usual excellent standard will pick everything up which is just as well as it has 8 cats to contend with.
The added benefit of this one is that it is a lighter weight so I can now get up and down the stairs a lot easier as I’m not dragging additional pounds.
Good buy as always would certainly recommend product which is easy on the pocket 🙂
I love my Henry it has hoovered out my car with ease and it’s great on my hard floors aswell as the carpets upstairs. I dont find it heavy at all and is easily carried upstairs. It’s great cus it just rolls along behind you as you go!! Hoovering the stairs is a little difficult as the hose does not reach all the way up but I just move Henry and plug it in upstairs and work down to where I got to. There are 2 levels of suction one for the hard floors and one for the carpets and that’s all you need!! Great vaccuum I would highly recommend
What can I say, it’s a Henry. Anyone who has ever used one, knows what they’re like.
Great suction, can handle pretty much anything you throw at it, being realistic that is.
I also own a wireless Shark hoover, which is really good for just giving everything a light once over but if I really need to get things clean the henry is my no1 choice, every time.
In terms on manoeuvrability, it’s limited by its design, obviously you have to pull it along with you but you know what you’re buying when you look at it, so I have no issues about that.
For me, I’d recommend a Henry hoover to anyone, you really cant go wrong with one.
I’ve had my little Henry hoover for 3 weeks and I absolutely love it, I’ve literally hoovered everything … curtains, cushions, sofas, mattress, window blinds, skirting boards carpets, wooden floors, the dogs beds, my car … this little hoover has sucked the dust out of every little nook and cranny … the attachments allow you to get into the smallest of places and fit onto the back of the hoover, it’s light and easy to use and stores away neatly
I absolutely love i
Hello hello, I bought this for my wife’s 60th birthday present. I’ve always wanted one, which means she probably might one want as well.
2021 Update: Sadly now divorced, after 26 years too. Never mind, I got ‘custody’ of the Henry. Oh yes, and the dog, result!
Henry is fantastic. More than makes up for losing my long term partner and the bags are a lot cheaper too. Than the bags for our previous vacuum that is. My ex-wife spent a fortune on handbags now I think about it. She had about 60 of the bloody things.
Recommended. Not as a birthday present though.
I’m so pleased with Henry. Excellent suction, movement, variety of tools, stretch and power. Easy to switch between tasks. I like that I can carry the tools on the slots at the back and interchange tasks quickly. You have plenty of options with lengths and tools. Carpets and hard floors look great. Definitely good value for money.
Was a little worried it would be heavy to use after a lightweight cordless but being able to complete the task in one go, without constant emptying and coughing on dust from bagless hoover is worth it.
Can be a bit of a balancing act on stairs but it’s workable. I’ve definitely put Henry through its paces and it makes this cleaning task less of a chore. Highly recommended from a home with a long haired owner and a dog that likes mud – Henry is a welcome addition to keep us clean ( :
I absolutely love my new Henry! I had been pondering for a while about buying one. The reviews were all raving how good the Henry is, how powerful etc that I thought not everyone can be wrong! And they weren’t! It’s absolutely brilliant, major suction which you can have stronger or less powerful, it picks up everything in its path. The attachments are fab too, they all serve their own purpose. This Henry is also fab on my hard floor. What’s not to love?? I’m telling you if you are pondering like I was, don’t! Get it in your basket! You won’t regret it.
I have no complaints so far, but only bought it a couple of days ago. It has great suction, a bit heavy, but thats ok as I dont have stairs, only to steps leading to bedrooms.
I read that it has a bag inside already, but was suprised that not only did it have a bag already in it, but it came another bag which I was happy about. I only ever wanted a bagless hoover, but found them to be quite useless at times. Bagged hoovers put me off because you need to buy more & I wanted to save money, but Ive used the Henry hoover at my jobs & they have been the best so far, very reliable, so I gave in & bought one
When we moved into a flat a few years ago, I gave my old Henry away and went with a Hoover stick vac, for convenience and storage.
I did miss my Henry.
Two years later The battery on the Hoover died, and to replace it almost cost the same as a new vac.
So after very little thought I bought a new Henry, oh the joy of knowing my carpet would at last deeply clean.
Quick delivery.
Love the tool holders etc.
When I first switched it on it stuck to the carpet, I had forgotten about the great suction, after adjusting the vent to suit me, the pile on the main traffic part of my carpet was once again looking great.
I am back to not using three things to clean just Henry on his own.
I have put him behind the door in the spare room, if we ever get back to having visitors he can hide behind my bedroom mirror.
So I am very happy to have a Henry back in my home.
I moved to a smaller home and purchased one of those cordless ones to save space. This was a mistake and I just couldn’t get on with it. So even though I had got rid of my old Henry I purchased another one. This model is very powerful and suits me best. Having a disabled arm, the weight of this one is easy to pull along on its wheels, unlike the cordless ones that have all the weight at the top and you have to physically act like a weightlifter to use them.
Unused to these, leaving my late wife to the task,Now i have to do it wasn’t sure which type to get, once our old upright gave up the ghost ,our daughters came to my rescue, needing one that is easy to move around, and, lighter both have one of these, and, recommended to give the HENRY a try,i found it much easier to move around, and, more powerful,to get the job done faster. so would have to recommend it to anyone.
I adore my Henry and I am glad that I invested in one. Needed a new vacuum and looked around at many options, almost got sucked in to buying one of the fancier fashionable brands but glad I stuck to what I know as I not disappointed. I have two part time jobs as a cleaner and we use vacuums by Numatic (who make Henry’s) every day so I was familiar with them so decided to get one of my own.
Suction is phenomenal, it’s lightweight and has a long cable. It’s ideal for my flat. Although I don’t have pets, I shed a lot of hair so have to vacuum regularly and often find other vacuums I have had in the past don’t pick up well on short carpets – complete opposite with this! It’s brilliant and gets all the hair out the carpet.
Came with a few attachments, have not used those as of yet but they will come in handy. 10/10 would recommend and even better it’s made in the UK.
OMG Henry arrived today and took one look at my Carpets, rolled his sleeves up and got to work! Even the ingrained specks of fluff that my old Dyson failed to pick up were gone. My children’s bedroom carpet looks like new!
The only negative is that it was supposed to come with 3 bags – one in the unit and two in the box… And I only had one spare in the box.
But other than that, I can’t fault it! The only member of the family not happy to meet Henry, is the ca
absolutely BRILLIANT! 5 I’ve had the large Henry which was my Dads passed down to me about 15yrs ago, never had or needed any repairs or spares Its seen me through 2 house moves & full renovations, 3 dogs, 4 children growing up & all the dust, fur & dirt that entails …Henry still going as great as the day he came to live with us. Hence now 1 old dog left, furry one that is not me , kids flown nest & we’ve down sized yes another move & renovation he’s still going brilliantly! Henry that is, we’re flagging …. but big Henry is a little large & heavy for me these days so I treated myself to the little yellow Henry having great reviews about the smaller Hetty, Harry versions….. Little yellow Henry arrived (GREAT SERVICE PRIME!) I was expecting maybe a little less suction strength being smaller but hey WOW!!! I was amazed, just as powerful as his big brother, lovely & light to lift & pull around absolutely brilliant. So big Henry has now retired to my hubby’s workshop, good luck in there Henry!! & i’m made up with his little yellow brother. I would recommend them 150% against any rediculously prised DY–N on the market, My friends had them they broke down after a year, lost suction, cracked messed about with filters etc all the time my good old faithful big Henry was whizzing about smiling & still is brilliant suction, same filter, no cracks or spare parts needed!!! YAY! stuff ya DY__Ns girlys! Gimme a Henry family any day! One VERY happy Henry customer LOVE IT! & banned from any brick dust coming anywhere near him he’s mine!!!
This is the best hover i’ve had in years, i all so got the pro kit with it the airo brush on carpets is a game changer hard floor brush is really good to i have a log burner in lounge so can get bitty not a problem for Henry 1 swipe gone! I like the metal pipes feels more robust when sucking up cobwebs from the ceiling i do open the air vent on the pipe because of to much suction . Changing bag is easy and no dust cloud! Filters easy to clean unlike other vacume cleaners that get clogged up easily and have to be cleaned every time you empty them banning against a bin getting dust on you or having to blow them out with an airline . Henry got a 6 litre bucket on him and a HEPA bag
Bought this to replace the older version. Was a bit worried this would not perform as well since the motor is now less powerful, but pleasantly surprised because it is a lot better. From what I have read, the manufacturer has resigned Henry and though it looks nearly identical to the old version, it actually works more efficiently and this is evident when comparing this against the old machine. It is also a bit quiter too.
Nice and powerful, obviously not great for long stairs as you need to carry it with you but its got great suction and the bags are easily changed. Its a good all-rounder. One gripe from experience is, it’s bloody hard to get to original hose if you have to replace it and the other ones sold on here and online are just copies that will bend and snag, so beware when you kill your hose with a hole!
We needed a hoover that would cope with lots of dust and hairs for our ‘dooer upper’ in Spain. We have a cordless Dyson in the UK but that does get blocked also we tried a cordless Hoover, also not up to the task. This little Hoover however is. I gave it 4 stars as it’s not brilliant on our one and only rug, the stairs here are wide and it fits on it, so it’s good here but wouldn’t be in the UK. The cord is long as is the hose so no multiple plug changes needed but on the whole you can’t beat cordless for manoeuvrability. I am delighted with it and would recommend it for anyone in Spai
Don’t bother with them silly gimmicky cyclone vacuums, what you should get is one that works and this is it!
I have vinyl floors though so it gets stuck to the floor because it’s so powerful, but to fix that I just put a few zip ties around the sucking part to lift it off the floor a bit and it works great. I find that it’s better because pressing the lifter button makes the bristles get hair and stuff stuck in them which is a right pain to clean.
It’s not that noisy and the cable winder feels very robust.

Haver tried various other big name manufacturers with twice as powerful and noisy motors. Bits fall off because they are just a bit too flimsy, but corners have been cut to get down to a price point.
A simply design but effective, uses bags but motor is quiet yet effective. Polythene construction ensures it will bounce rather than break. Tools and attachments similarly well made. No wonder we see them used in offices up and down the land.
CAVEAT. I see the product range goes to near double the price. I think you get the same motor and filtration system in this base model.
Awkward to use on longer stairs, but frankly what isn’t?
Well thought out and executed 10/10
At last ive found a vacuum that reliably picks up Labrador fur!!!!
My boys hair blocks up 3 other animal-specific much more expensive vacuums. I was seriously considering changing my flooring to laminate which personally i dont like. Henry lifted it all without having to push backwards and forwards like an automaton
The suction is amazing with pick up being superb and with no blocking and having to dismantle to unblock it
Its not ideal for stairs but i can live with that
Pulling the machine behind you just takes a little getting used to as its not a major effort
Overall im delighted with Henry and wish id thought of him soone
The power of this Hanry model is indescribable.
Whether on carpet or hard floors, it vacuums everything in one pass.
I have allergy problems and after using Hanry all the dust is gone and finally the house shines and I feel better.
At first you may think it is too expensive but its performance pays off.
This henry worked better when I got the Aero head brush as It have 3 dogs one of which had a long ng coat. After that it picked up very well But I changed the bag as it was full and it stopped picking up and to here was very little suction.I followed You Tube problem solving which made no difference Aero brush stopped going round so hoover won’t pick up at all. Will contact Henry hoover makers.
I have limited storage options, but I wanted a hoover that I knew could do the job and was built to last. I’d borrowed a Henry 200 from a friend last time I did my carpets, which were badly in need of vacuuming. It did a cracking job in no time, although it was probably more powerful than I needed and just a bit on the large side for my limited storage space.
I went looking at other hoovers in the Henry range, and the 160 fitted the bill perfectly. It’s just right for smaller flats, and although it does still has a larger footprint than most upright hoovers, its performance for its size is unparalelled. It was almost lifting the carpet in places. I like it’s functionality, with its simple, compact design, no fancy gimmicks (manual cable rewind insteaf of a spring-loaded rewind which will inevitably break) and storage slots on the back for accessories. It’s still powerful enough for my needs with a pet cat in the house. Getting around the carpet edges is also a doddle, unlike most upright hoovers.
Definitely very happy with my purchase. With the right care it should last a lifetime.
If you go to war and need a vacuum cleaner to clean up the mess, Henry is the one for the job.
Most of the professionals who work in messy workshops all over the UK, use the help of Henry at the end of the day.
If want a vacuum cleaner to show it to your friends, you buy a Dyson. If you want a vacuum cleaner to do the job properly for a long time, you buy a Henry.
This is a brilliant vacuum. The turbo head actually lifts the pile on my carpet so it doesn’t look flat anymore. Very good value for money ,would definitely buy again .
Really good little hoover . I have had a dyson for a while now but wanted something simple that I didn’t have to empty every five minutes or change attachment. The thing I like about it is that I have kids and we end up with a lot of food and paper bits on the floor and down the sofa- Henry just gets these and there is no smell or anything as it’s all contained. I didn’t have that experience with dyson. I think if you like simple, It’s a good one. Also it’s chord is really long.. I can do the whole ground floor in my 4 bed house without having to unplug. If you have pets it’s not going to be very effective at picking up hair from carpet but if you have more ‘ bits/ food/ sawdust garden/ sand from the beach trip.
Just a warning… if you are rough/ in a hurry with Henry he will punish you by falling on his side which will make you want to kill him. but if you master the pulling him closer with one hand and then hoovering with the other..in a gentle kind of way.. he’s happy and you won’t want to throw him across the nice clean room.
Wow what Can I say, this little chap is amazing he’s got a really strong suction and my carpets look new again,I’m only 5ft 4ins so I found his handle a little high at first so I lowered it but then it was too low But after using dyson
for many many years including the dyson stick v8 Which don’t get me wrong has been brilliant but forever emptying it And the battery always running out,I decided to try our little Henry,I love him and his big eyes follow me around like my husband I’m now going to reunite him with a Hetty for upstairs then he’s not lonely on his own.My son has also got little Henry and loves him 100% but I don’t think he’d be wanting Hetty to join the household especially with being pink (although his partner might ) She loves Hetty as well,I can’t believe I haven’t bought this vac before nowI would have saved a fortune over the years
I’ve bought Bosch animal and dyson with lithium batteries! Bosch lasted 45 minutes on eco, and lucky to get 30 minutes out of dyson. Both great for being light weight but we got large 3 bed house and 3 cats!!! Read reviews on Which, and it gave this Henry a 5 star!!!! All I can say is this now my main vacuum and if I want a quick go over it will be the others I use, glad I purchased this product!!!!! It’s fantastic even when using the other accessories the same suction is there unlike the other 2 I mentioned. Don’t hesitate!!!
Quick delivery and everything in great working order. Easy to use and suction is fantastic. Manoeuvring around throughout the house is easy enough, with a great long suction hose and cables. Stairs are maybe not the easiest for some – but the long hose and cables help the job. I also carry while on the stairs – using it as a little weight bearing exercise, but that’s just me.
Cables were surprisingly easy to roll up (manual) compared to an automatic roll up, I had with my previous vacuum. Delivered with additional suction extensions, one fitted and one spare dust bag, as described. Vacuum dust bags, also seem to offer good dust fill up space – meaning the bag doesn’t fill up by just one house clean, having used may times now – and still on my first dust bag.
There is no dusty vacuum smell and hoover doesn’t get warm and/or hot at all – even when in use for 30-45min.
All in all (and so far) – very happy and would definitely recommend.
Ive had three Dyson’s and a Vac before I was gifted my sisters second hand Henry already 5 years old , it was a revelation, it lasted me a further 6 years after constant use in a large family home. It’s just so study and easy to use , the hose is a decent length, no filters, constant emptying of cylinders etc, just plug it in and go, a simple bag replacement when full. It was a no brainier to replace it with a newer model when it after 11 years of use it finally had enough. Here’s hoping it will last me as long as the last one.
I have always been frustrated with complicated vacuums, filled with complex knick-knacks I never used and sleek, yet useless and complex design solutions.
When I moved into my new apartament thus, I was sad to find a standup vacuums with god knowns how many plastic switches. For a tiny apartament at that.
I remembered then a particular vacuum I’d always try to use in the dorms – the one with the funny face. I could always remember it being the strongest. I ordered it, and needless to say, I was dissapointed.
It’s strong – really strong. Accidentally strip off pain strong – mistake. And very easy to use! Manual essentially not needed. No complex switches or tabs. Opening the vacuum up is easy. Assembling it easier.
Several friends recommended a Henry. Most commented on his ability to suck which caused a lot of amusement and carry on style laughing. Well Henry arrived. Big smile on his face and he was straight on the job. Never seen my carpet look so good. The turbo head really brings up the pile so well. Henry is indeed the best sucker in the world. Joking aside don’t hesitate to buy. Also like the longer cable. You can clean the whole flat without having to plug him into different rooms as the cable reaches a long way
I like this hoover as it keeps its suction and is mains driven so never running out of battery (like my dyson) when doing the car or whole house.
The power cable retracts into the body of the device so is tidy.
The main gripe I have with this unit is the pipes and tools (especially the hose) are really difficult to tidy away and makes carrying the device around the house and putting it away in the cupboard a hassle. Something the designers should consider as it takes up a lot of space unnecessarily as the hose does not bend easily and the multiple tools need a way to store them.
Would I recommend this hoover – on balance yes but needs a bit fair amount of space in your cleaning cupboard to store.
I absolutely ADORE this hoover. It is the best in the world, I have no doubt about it.
After trying numerous cheap/free from bags hoovers, I have decided to go for the classic Henry that I could see all professionals using. I don’t regret it and I will never go back to any other! It is so easy to use, effortless and the suction is extremely powerful! I would absolutely recommend it. If you hesitate because of the price, tell yourself that this is a hoover that is made to last! You probably will never ever need to replace it again!
Good old Henry nice hoover strong suction the lead is really long I managed to hoover downstairs an upstairs with it plugged in down stairs 2 bed house to so it went quiet away nice an light no more back ache due to the long hose seems to be made of steel the pipe is rock solid well made came packaged really well few attachments for stairs scurting boards etc an came with 2 bags has a big capacity so don’t think it will need changing much I’ve been using a kirby g5 antique vacume for 20 years untill it packed in the other day an this Henry I’m not disappointed with quick delivery as allways with amazon actualy came a day early so was next day delivery an were in a pandemic which surprised me how quickly it arrived delivered by amazon so had live tracking an unlike dpd this was very accurate I new he was outside before he knocked on the door very pleased 5 stars from me after reading mixed reviews on the commercial one which the tubing looked like cheap metal when this is a shinny steal so I went for this 6liter capacity Henry thanks amazo
I was so excited to receive this after I ordered it. I have cats and have gone through so many cheap hoovers that I finally decided to fork out for a decent one. And it has not disappointed. Doing my stairs used to be an hours work, but henry done it in 5 mins with the Airobrush attachment. He may be a little bulky to do the stairs for an elderly person however. Was just as good on my laminate flooring and tiles too. Absolutely love him and would recommend to anyone.
I purchased this hoover to replace my Shark upright who was temperamental with it working. I have had one before and I am so glad that I went back to the trusted Henry. The suction power is incredible. After vacuuming, it actually looks like I have. I have pets and not a single pet hair left in sight.
Isn’t too ideal for people who would be unable to hold it whilst doing the stairs; I.e the elderly.
I purchased this from Amazon Warehouse and I am so glad I did. The item was described as ‘used- very good conditon’. However, when it arrived, it still had all the plastic packaging around it. So in fact it was actually still brand new. I think the reason why the condition was described as it was was because of the condition of the box, which was a little battered. Seeing as I dont keep the box, this wasnt something that bothered me.
If you’re thinking about buying something ‘used’ from Amazon Warehouse, dont let the ‘used’ part put you off. Saves you some money and you could receive something that is still brand new.
Best vacuum I have ever owned and definitely recommend purchasing, whichever company you purchase from.
Such joy to be reunited with Henry , although this one is a turbo Henry and my last one ( many years ago) was a regular Henry. ..it still packs a punch and simply hoovers to perfection. Brilliant! I never thought I would get so excited by hoovering with Henry but after other vacuum cleaners I have used, this proves to be the quietest, most powerful and lightweight machine and moves around with ease.
This machine was purchased to replace a previous Henry vacuum cleaner which had provided years of good service. This new one is thankfully lighter in weight so easier to carry upstairs yet has excellent suction power. The only drawback, one that has been remarked upon by other reviewers, relates to the floor tool and the tube with the suction control. The latter is far more awkward to use than the previous one and the floor tool is nowhere near as smooth to use as the previous one. The older versions fit the new machine perfectly and work as before. So a mixture of old and new work very well. It is difficult to understand why the manufacturer changed the tube in question and the floor tool; they would do well, in the opinion of the present reviewer, to revert to the former versions.
I have always heard that the ‘Henry’ is used by professional people such as commercial cleaners, painters, builders, etc., but was always a bit doubtful about these claims until I became worn out using a ‘dyson’ which was very heavy and cumbersome. At last, I broke down and purchased a ‘Henry’, all I can say is, all those people were absolutely correct! It is a very ‘easy’ product to use and our place is looking spotless! We have a terrier as well and like most short-haired dogs, he sheds loads of little black hairs. Another great aspect is how quiet it is, even our dog doesn’t get annoyed by it. I would recommend it most highly to anyone thinking about getting a new ‘hoover’!
I think it’s all been said on previous reviews.
Has great suction, and cleans hard floors and carpets equally well.
Long chord which saves changing sockets.
Great picking up hair.
Seems well made and able to take a few knocks.
Downside is he is rather heavy to pull over carpets, less so on hard floors.
Difficult to pull through doorways, as the castors seem to ‘dive ‘ into the doorframe.
Heavy to take upstairs, and easily falls over, as the motor being on the top makes the unit top heavy.
In all a great cleaner.
I love love love my Henry!
I spend a lot of time chasing my messy toddler whose current favourite thing to do is throw his food and snacks everywhere! We also do a lot of messy play so I generally hoover downstairs twice a day. Henry makes this so easy.
I used to HATE hoovering! I’d generally end up with back pains and in a sweaty mess after lugging our hoover that seemed to be straight from the 80’s round the house and don’t even get me started on carrying it up the stairs!! But not anymore! Henry is light and easy to use to get into all those awkward places. It’s light and easy to carry. The plug stretches for miles which makes hoovering the stairs less of a drama. I’ve even hoovered my car for the first time in my life ha! There is a knob that you turn on the top to get the plug back so no faffing with knotted leads. Changing the hoover bag is also really easy and there’s no mess.
Finally Henry’s little smiley face is just adored by my toddler who has gone from screaming at our old hoover to trying to cuddle Henry. Now he loves pretending to Hoover and insists on helping me when I’m cleaning. It’s his favourite toy! And mine!
Can’t recommend this highly enough. I debated between this and a cheaper version. This is a classic example of getting what you pay for. It’s a great buy and they last pretty much forever so it’s worth investing that money!
This Henry is a very quiet machine and very light too, making it easy to carry when cleaning stairs. Not the best machine for pet hairs but combine it with the Airo brush that I own from a previous Henry the pet hairs gone in three passes and other than that there no bad things I have else to say but if you have pets consider the Henry pet it comes with a range of tools for the vacuum to pick pet hair up including the Airo brush and Airo brush 140 for upholstery and stairs also the large capacity bags of 9L for the 200 and 6L for the 160 (Henry micro) mean longer use before changing bags it’s also great for allergy sufferers as no dust bin to empty like on bagless machines.
I’ve had three hoovers in the past four years, always buying something around the 70 mark but they don’t last. I’ve always bought bagless so I was hesitant on buying this one, did I really want the hassle of buying bags?! I spent ages looking at reviews on line and was so unsure about spending so much on a hoover but I’m so glad I did. This one is brilliant, it wheels around after me with ease, the suction is brilliant, I really noticed a difference after that first hoover because my last hoover was so poor. This has fantastic strong attachments and a long cable so I don’t have to keep moving from plug to plug. This hoover has really made the job much easier for me and I regret not getting a Henry sooner. I finally decided to get a Henry because every professional cleaner I’ve seen hoovering has a Henry so I thought they must know what’s best and they do!
Why oh why did I wait so long to get one of these?!
Having got through 2 Dysons and a Shark within the past 5 years, I was beginning to despair! No matter how careful I tried to be, I seemed to waste my life unblocking them. And the Dyson, especially, was a nightmare to unblock. I bought Henry 6 months ago, and am rarely compelled to write product reviews, but I am so pleased with him I wanted to share my enthusiasm.
In the time since I purchased him, he hasn’t got blocked once, not once! And the suction is amazing. Seriously. He’d suck up the carpet if he could!! I had thought having a bagged vacuum cleaner would be a pain, but honestly each bag lasts ages, and it’s so quick and easy to change, it’s just as easy as emptying a bagless vacuum cleaner.
I honestly cannot recommend this vacuum cleaner highly enough. I am a Henry convert and am never turning back.
People have been telling me a lot of good things about the Henry hoover that I simply had to buy one to see for myself after I brought a Bush vacuum. The Bush vacuum was too weak for the upstairs carpets, so I was recommended into buying the Henry instead, it was amazing once I tried it. It sucked up hair, dirt, dust, you name it, it got it all and… it got one of my socks on two intervals lol! For the size vacuum it is, it is really powerful and when I said ”really” I mean it so watch out that it does not eat one of your tops, socks or something you do not want it sucking up.
The one downside is on my one, the clips on both sides for clipping the black lid back on top, they were stubborn to close on the first two uses. Other than that, it is the best vacuum I have had.
A fantastic hoover!!! I have always used Dyson hoovers so far but mine broke down and I did not want to spend too much buying another one or repairing it so I decided to buy a Henry hoover as I had seen it in many organisations used by cleaners in banks and schools and I had been impressed. I am thrilled to have bought it. THe suction is amazing and matches the Dyson one but the advantage is that it is a lot easier to move it around. It came with various attachments and two bags (one was already fitted). It has a filter too and the good thing about it is that you can wash it under water and let it dry when it gets dirty. It really sucks everything, including tissues and plastic bags if you are not careful. My house has never been so clean !!!!!

Excellent hoover..
I’ve had all sorts of vacuum cleaners dyson shark and I recently purchased a cordless hoover, all with fancy heads that spin and monitor your floor blah blah long story short these don’t last 5 minutes and end up gathering dust in the corner when they pack up (which they will) not to mention the mortgage you have to take out to buy them!
This Henry howether is simple yet effective, as my headline says ‘it just works’
No fancy heads to go wrong simply add your desired attachment press on and away you go.
Overall verdict: excellent and a good price to..
‘Now that’s a review’
Above all I liked the fact that it’s not a Jimmy-Boy “Brexit” Dyson hoover 😉
One missing feature that was a bit odd was the lack of the extra power switch that my old model had …. didn’t really understand that one …. still that said it still provides the full Monica Lewinski service & I know in my heart that I didn’t help Mr Brexiteer pay for his new mega mansion in Singapore ! Bo****ks to Brexit !!
Ok , let’s see if this review gets published ……!
I now own one of the best all round cleaners available! Henry is powerful enough to finally get my carpets, hard floor and walls thoroughly clean. No more using an old-fashioned carpet brush or a soft hand-brush and dustpan in desperation when my old (actually just two years old) machine couldn’t cope.
The only equivalent hoover I’ve ever known was an ancient upright actual Hoover my mother used. Sadly, that died back in the 80s and nothing has matched it up until now.
Henry has two sizes of rotating brush-head available plus all the usual crevice/soft furnishing heads, and it’s worth laying out the extra to create a multitasking machine, but note that the on-board tool storage is adequate for only a few basic bits; it won’t take any of the bigger brush-heads.The bags are very reasonably priced and genuinely HEPA; no nasty smells or dust blowing back from the motor vents. And the simple wind-up cable storage is very easy to use, requiring no brute force to turn.
I can definitely recommend Henry to anyone wanting to replace their current cleaner. Just be wary, as others have said, not to leave stray jewellery, knick-knacks, hankies, cats etc. lying in Henry’s path!
Been a Dyson fan for a long time, I got a Henry to keep upstairs in the spare room to save me carrying my Dyson up and down the stairs. I wasn’t really expecting great things as cylinder vaccums have never been a fave. OMG I think I’m a little in love with my Henry small but powefull, I have to use it at low suction or he lifts the carpet off the floor!; really long cable so he rolls along behind you for ages; You can assemble the silver poles to suit shorter or taller users, being quite tall this is fantastic! first cylinder I’ve used that I’ve been able to stand up straight to use ; he’s also really quiet, could easily hear a phone or doorbell over the sound of the motor. The only negative is the amount of room you need to store him, but that would be the same with any cyliner vacuum. Upshot is sorry Dyson you’ve lost me, #teamHenry all the way.
Took the plunge after previously having a top end Dyson (which I’ve had to repair hoses / replace filters etc multiple times over a period of 1 year). In short just buy a Henry already!
Don’t be deceived by the small form factor … Henry is great value, very powerful, fairly quiet, A+ efficiency rated and compact little machine!
There is 0% mess/dust when emptying (although Henry can be used without the self-sealing bags), plus you don’t have to empty him every five minutes (6 litre capacity) and get crap everywhere like a Dyson or vax etc.
Henry can store up to two attachments (you get several tools included) on his back and has a lengthy (approx 10m) power cable with a manual winding mechanism – which in all honesty is far better than those useless auto winding systems found on Dysons
Another point worth mentioning – why would you want to see all the muck that is being picked up in a Dyson?!
You get two bags with Henry – 1 bag comes pre-installed. Did buy an additional 10 pack of official bags but don’t think we’ll be emptying him anytime soon! Also, Hetty is the same spec as Henry but comes in pink and costs 10 less.
Oh Henry you hungry bugger. Gobbles up dust, pennies, sawdust, Legos and stray children with glee. Whilst other vacuums I’ve had are super picky and I killed a Dyson with sawdust once. Henry is like a well loved drunken friend who will happily follow you around your house sucking up all the crap. He is heavy on stairs but if you drop him (I have) he will roll down them and still have a smile on his face as he usually lands on his head. The best thing? If your kid screams blue murder for their palm tree Lego back you can rip open Henry’s paper stomach and you’ll find your Lego, lost passport, the key to the shed and maybe your hopes and dreams in his dusty belly.
This is by far the most effective vacuum cleaner I’ve used – so powerful it will pick the rug up off the floor. I’ve only had it for a short time so we will see if it starts to lose suction over time. Right now, I’m impressed. I got it specifically as I have a wiry haired dog who sheds….and sheds….and sheds. His hair seems to weld itself to every surface and I’ve really struggled to get it off carpeted areas. It still needs a big effort to shift it, even with the mighty Henry, but it does do it when others have failed. The only niggle is that the tools don’t seem to fit together very well (the tube sections seem to come apart regularly no matter how fierce you get in pushing them together and the brush part seems to swivel about awkwardly). If you don’t mind a minor faff sorting this out, it’s a great cleaner and surprisingly doesn’t take up as much room as I thought it would. Bit heavy going up stairs, but I fully expected that anyway.
Fantastic little cleaner. Have tried most other makes, but this is the one that is reliable, durable, and efficient.
Excellent metal pipes (not plastic), the floor head works like a dream on tiles or carpets, accessories are good quality too. When I say efficient, this cleaner takes less than half the power of our old Vax, and is easily three times better at cleaning. I’m not a fan of bagless, (to note, we have had Dyson’s too) they are all OK whilst the seals are all tight, and the filters are in A1 condition, but once the seals go, (or filters clog) you may as well use a brush! I know a bag is an old fashioned system, but once the dust goes in Henry’s bag, its there until you dispose of it. Bags are relatively cheap and last ages.
In summary, if you are going to drag a cleaner round the house behind you, you may as well be followed by one that actually works!
I’m a convert.
Used to have two different Hoover models. Terrible suction, always a pain to clean out, filters would become physically jammed and break, and Hoover would not replace the parts.
Nah, none of this here. No nonsense.
2 big motors, slip the bag in, remove the bag. Good quality bags. Enough suction that it lifts the carpet off the floor.
So much suction that it’s really stiff to move sometimes. Wonderful. Just like it should be.
If you’re on the fence, coming from a dyson or a hoover or a little compact… don’t be. He’s not that heavy, you have fantastic range, and you’ll see the difference!
Hoovers were not broken when Dyson came along. Cleaners kept using Henry as did everyone else who didn’t have 500 to spend on a glorified bagless duplo trolley. The scammers over at Dyson are now trying to sell you cordless hoovers, that don’t pick up dirt and wear out within 2 years. Ditch that pseudo middle class nonsense contraption and pick up a real gem of british engineering – Henry. That smiling face will not let you down for more than ten years, Yes it takes bags, because bags are hygenic and they carry a lot more dirt than dumb bagless vacuums. You wont get a face full of dirt when you empty it, because it wasn’t designed by idiots. If it aint broke don’t fix it people.
It was a cloudy boring day when Henry arrived on my doorstep, i was out when the amazon delivery man called so my neighbours brought him round and to my annoyance i found the item wasnt wrapped so all and sundry could see what id bought… With anger pulsing through my nerves like raw electric wires, i brought the item in. Throwing the couple from number 32 a fake smile and thanking them for bringing the item i slammed the door shut and frantically looked for the nearest cushion to holler into. Id been exposed in the most dire way by amazon..
Then suddenly i heard a rustling from deep within the box. My first thoughts were: after what theve just done, now they’ve gone a put a drone in there (or a minature camera man) to expose me and throttle the life out of the last few shreds of dignity i had left.
It was all for naught however, as i opened the box with utmost caution, out popped henry the hoover with a huge grin spread across his face like raspberry jam. “Ahoy!” he seemed to mumble, though of course he lacked the proper equipment to form coherent words. And already he was on the job, he leaped out ready to punch his card in and get down to some serious hoovering.
No need to spend much time assembling this chap, he will do it himself!! Within seconds he was fumbling around in the box, taking out various pieces and slotting them in here and there. With the harder to reach areas he would hand me an object and gesture as to where it went and then followed by what motion i needed to complete the task, i.e screw or push.
Then Henry the 1st or henry “the red devil” hoover if you’d prefer, lept to the task at hand. His eyes scanned the room and settled on the wall socket to which he then ran over to and plugged himself in – his eyes becoming wild as the current flowed though him.
He zipped through the kitchen and lounge like a fly through an open window. Sucking up all like a cheery little hurricane – stopping for none and seizing the day.
But then.. He came to the sheep skin rug.
He paused.
Mind a blaze, swinging and swirling, until he reached into his tool belt and changed his attachment. He then hooverd the rug with his signature gusto and all was well.
So to cut a long story short… Id give young henry five stars. He has very strong suction and a long cable. By far the best hoover ive ever used (dyson included).
Thanks for reading!
This is my second Henry, I have bought the slightly smaller version, the original I purchased 39years ago, all he needed over those years is a new pipe about 20yrs ago. I love my henry he always does the job. I have had smaller, expensive and more tech savvy hoovers but henry always beats them (keeping henry for a deeper clean) . Please never never stop making Henry and his pals he will always be needed. If this one lasts as long as the first he will be still working after I have gone. Also the parts from the first still fit the new one!
After buying two well-reviewed machines for under 60 quid – both of which had lousy suction and needed constant attention in emptying and cleaning – I thought that maybe 99 for a vacuum isn’t that much after all. I was right. This Henry is so easy to put together and use and its huge bags don’t need changing until after multiple uses. It also makes floors and carpets look really clean. And… call me sentimental or ridiculous… but that silly Henry ‘face’ following you around SUCCEEDING at ‘his’ task is somehow comforting! 😉
Henry’s were the Royal Navy’s choice of vacuum during my service time. Every warship had several and they were used lots, every day and battered in the process. They kept working though and working well. For years now we’ve used uprights at home, expensive uprights made by that rich bloke who’s surname sounds like Tyson. Inevitably they break, lose suction and fail. This time around I went with Henry. Fair enough he’s a bit harder to store, walking him about can be a bit of a drag (see what I did there?) but he works, works really well and carpets are refreshed in the process. Hard floors are easily dealt with too. The MOD procurement people aren’t silly, they tend to buy stuff that represents value and keeps working when other brands fail. It’s clear to me now that all those Henry’s serving on Her Majesty’s Ships are there for very good reason.
Don’t hesitate in buying the cheaper listings from Amazon Warehouse either, I’ve had a few things from them and they are brand new even if they are listed as used. Generally the box may have a dent or similar but the contents have been mint every time.
This is our second Henry, the first having lasted for 10 years of so. I like Henry, my wife hates him mostly because she can’t steer him (a general problem with women drivers?). We use him at home, an environment for he may not be best optimised as he may be better suited to the office environment with hard, durable carpeting. My one gripe about him is they have changed the suction head and added in this roller to attempt to improve its movement across the carpet. I can see it working well on the office carpet which effectively has no pile but it does not work well at home on a longer pile carpet and tends to move across the surface in jerks as the roller engages and disengages. Otherwise OK, good suction and versatile.
I’m over the moon with Henry – fabulous little hoover and such suction! We have a built in vacuum system in our house ( came with the house but wouldn’t be on my wish list) but having to get the 9 metre hose out all the time is a faff so I also had a Karcher MV2 for everyday use that just died, but it wasn’t the best, so plumped for a Henry this time and I’m so pleased! Sturdy, great length cord and great tools. We have a German Shepherd who creates most of the mess but Henry makes light work of the dog hairs – in fact I realise now how bad my old hoover was as the carpets look great after just one round! Brilliant on wooden floors and tiles too. It’s always great when something exceeds your expectations – well done Henry!
Our old Henry died so I needed another. From all the vaccums this Henry has been the cheapest and best rated. I purchased it but didn’t know that this is a slightly different version. Old Henry had 2 power setting’s hi/lo. This one just has one. Everyone complains it’s suction isn’t powerful like the old one. But I personally see that it does the job .. and don’t see much of a difference after some time of using it. I did see another one which was 40 more expensive with higher watts used. I thought it wiser to get lower watt one because it’s cheaper and less energy used. Who knows
Compared to my previous hoover, I am so so pleased I went with Henry. Easy to move around, good variety of heads that come with it, very strong cleaning power, not too noisy, works on both carpets and hard-floors, and is effortless to use. I’ve only had it a few months so I can’t really claim to know about its durability but it feels very robust and my parent’s Henry lasted them most of my lifetime.
My brother bought one of these and the way he was talking about it I thought he’d had another child!!! ‘Henry this, Henry that, Henry is amazing’ anyway, after lugging my heavy Dyson about for years I decided to wade into Henry World. People warned me against it, my mother-in-law said I’d hate a Henry, even my hubby stared at it when it came and refused to show interest.
My word!!!!!! Henry is a belter!!!!! He’s nearly inhaled my carpet but I’m still getting used to different attachments- I will never ever go back to another hoover, Henry is fab!!!!
I had the pink Hetty for years, I sold it recently & the suction was as good as the day I bought it. I only sold it because I had the heavier version & after a recent operation on my arm it was a bit too heavy to carry up & down the stairs. The girl who bought it was over the moon. I was all set to try something different & was gonna pay more than twice the price I paid for this, probable cordless. My cousin told me about this compact version, the suction is the exact same as the bigger one I had. These are fantastic hoovers, built to last. I know I’ll have it for years. So glad I didn’t change brands as I don’t have the patience to wait for a hoover to charge. This one, while not the lightest hoover, it much lighter than the last one & easy enough for me to lift. I know I’ll never change now, for the money paid this powerful hoover is a bargain. Don’t bother with all the fancy expensive brands, if u want quality & durability, then this is the best hoover on the market. I only ever need to change the bag every couple of months & they are easy to buy online & posted straight to your door. Delivered a full week earlier than expected, fabulous service!!!
After the sad death of Harry (the green vacuum) I decided to purchase his brother Henry. Harry had been with us for many years and it was a tough decision to replace him.
Well what can I say Henry is fantastic. He’s a little bit smaller than Harry but boy is he powerful. He’s lightweight and has a lovely long cord which makes hoovering a breeze.
I would definitely recommend him.
I bought this to use in the garage – finally got fed up of using a dustpan and broom to clear up. It’s not the most elegant cleaner on the market but that’s not an issue for me. I find the handle too long and quite awkward to use. It’s not very compact to store and the slot on the body to hold the hanle upright looks quite flimsy. Apart from that I have no complaints. It works well and is ideal for both keeping the dust down in the garage and cleaning the car. The bag replacement is exceptionally easy, much better than my old AEG. I will at some point use it to attach to a power tool. I’ve used a borrowed Henry in the past for that it’s very effective for dust collection.
After many years of using upright cleaners, I’ve switched to Henry. Resisted it for a long time, because I’ve never liked pull-along cleaners, I find them awkward to use. However, having spent probably three times the price of this unit on rubbish uprights over the last few years, I decided to go for it.
The first thing to say is that Henry (I have the compact unit) is a powerful little devil. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how effective he is, considering the small size of the space all the dust gets sucked into. I’ve used him on carpet (brush up, vent a little open) and hard floors (brush down, vent closed), and he’s equally effective on each. He’s brought a couple of tired old long-pile rugs back to life, and he gets every scrap of dust off my laminate and tiled floors. So, since that’s what he’s designed to do, a thumbs up from me.
Oh, and the long cable is great — I live in a flat and I don’t have to keep moving the plug to get to each room. Love the cable rewind, too.
Second thing is what comes in the box. You get Henry and all the attachments, as well as two bags. Since the description says ‘a Henry unit’, I thought that might be useful to know. You don’t need to go buy a whole box of bags, like I did. D’oh.
What I *don’t* like are all the things I knew I wouldn’t like when I bought him:
– He’s heavy. Not going to work for someone older/less able, and definitely not the best for carting up and down stairs.
– He’s a bit cumbersome. I do get tangled in the hose and the cable, and I find him a little difficult to manoeuvre in tight spaces. Might simply be that I need to get used to him.
– He takes up a lot more space than an upright. So stashing him in the cupboard meant clearing some extra space. Not really a hardship, just something to be aware of – the base unit is a little fat thing and the hose is very tall.
In summary: is it light? No. Is it space-efficient? No. Is it particularly manoeuvrable? No. Does it clean floors? Hell, yes. If Henry came in an upright format, I’d give him five stars. But I still don’t like trundling him along or finding myself tied to the furniture with the hose and cable.
OMG. Don’t look at anyone leaving less than 4 stars as they are the ones that can never be satisfied. I am amazed at this vacuum cleaner. No wonder it’s Number 1 in the industry. I had a hoover bagless which gave up its suck almost entirely so I threw it out. Between then and getting Henry my carpets were so messy it looked like a tip. I went around my house with Henry in a fraction of the time it took me with my old hoover. Henry eats everything in his path. Screws, toenails, nuts and even pens whole. Don’t leave a sock on the floor as Henry will have it for breakfast. I had to remove polystyrene cement off my ceiling after taking down polystyrene tiles for fire safety. The mess was huge but Henry sucked it all up like a pro and I was clean again in no time. I have never in all my time had a better performing cleaner. Sure it’s not a new digital cordless or bagless gimmick like some adverts for their cleaners but I can tell you for certain no bagless or cordless cleaner can perform like Henry. With my old bagless you have to empty it into a bag or dustbin anyway and some blows back on the floor. With Henry, everything stays in and you just remove the bag and bin it, absolutely NO MESS. Cordless? No way. You can’t get power like this with a cordless, they go flat quick and they don’t suck well at all. Henry comes with a bag installed and a spare so you can use him right after delivery. The stair attachment is great as well. I went down my entire staircase in less than 10 minutes and he sucked up everything the first time. Henry is so powerful that he sucks the carpet away from the gripper rods. Rugs are a synch with Henry and clean in seconds as is furniture. The cord is extra long so he can go all the way upstairs and into the bedrooms without having to unplug downstairs and plug in upstairs and when done the cord winds into the hub so you don’t have to wrap the cord around anything or get knots in it. The turbo head is well worth the extra in this case as it cleans deep into the pile with the slightest of ease. The 6-litre bags last for ages too. so you don’t have to be buying bags too often. One bag will hold up to 4 months average cleaning on an average three bedroom house, so 3 bags a year is not at all expensive.
When considering many many years of using vacuum cleaners I will never go back to anything else now. Henry even comes with a three-year warranty, unlike the standard 12 months you normally get with other makes. You can tell as soon as you get him out the box he is built to last and robust. He never falls over and you can pull him along by the hose without the hose disconnecting as my old Hoover did often. You do have to go back and help him around corners but that’s nothing to me. Trust me, Go for Henry, he is the best little succker in the world.
I have been promising myself one of these for years and when my last Hoover packed up I finally got one. Every builder, decorator or, indeed any dust-generating tradesman I have ever employed has always come armed with a Henry, which is recommendation enough. It is light, quiet and boy does it suck!!! In a good way! You could eat your dinners off my floors now and perform open-heart surgery on my carpets. Don’t wait years to buy one like me, get one today!
I’d previously had a cordless Dyson that drove me mad at the amount of cleaning out it took to work and the battery dying. It had completely put me off hoovering and the carpets were a state.
I wanted something strong and simple so looked at loads of reviews and came to Henry! He is amazing! I didn’t realise how dirty the carpets were until I used Henry they look new again. Henry can handle everything including my diying. Henry is abit harder to use he’s so strong that you have to get used to how to use him on carpet but he’s building my muscles and it’s worth it for the extra clean carpets
I love my Henry so much I bought my daughter one. Checked to see what all local public buildings with heavy cleaning areas were using The school, the Council Offices and they all swore by their Henry absolutely not disappointed would highly recommend I bought the extra motorized brush and extra bags when I purchased this. My daughter has a dog that molts badly in summer and this cleaner had been a blessing. I would not buy any other now.
I can’t be doing with these new bagless vacuums as they never seem to last and loose suction so I thought most commercial/ industrial places I often see Henry zooming around. I purchased this from Amazon…the mini version…and I love him. A very strong powerful hoover…robust, extra long extension, assortment of end of pipe utensils, not too heavy to carry up the stairs. At last I feel I have a decent vacuum that does the job in half my time.
After a couple of years muddling along with my new partners dyson, I finally broke and bought me a Henry. He’s a cheerful little chap but holy wow does he suck! I had trouble moving him over the carpet! He won’t rest until every last bit of dust is in his bag though. He’s a lot quieter than his predecessors with handy places to put accessories so you’re not hunting round the house trying to remember where you put them. Henry is, without doubt, the best sucker in this house!
Very good and robust; but heavy and big.
It brings a filter and two dirt bags – unlike a comment I read here – and it is ready to start hoovering as soon as you take it off the box.
This is the HVR-160 version, which is the weakest corded version; with only the cordless being the only one in the line-up which is weaker.
But, it is very powerful when compared to the competition.
I advise this vacuum cleaner to those with a small house, no pets, no children and easy to clean carpets. For me, in Portugal – where carpets are not all over the floor – this vacuum cleaner is enough. I have a lot of hard floor, so a quick sweep does the job.
For those with big houses, a lot of carpets, pets that leave a lot of hair or to those who are just clumsy, you may look for the 200 or TurboMax version.
For those which will be carrying the vacuum cleaner up- and down the stairs, you should look for a lighter option, like a Miele vacuum cleaner.
I am very happy with this vacuum cleaner, just like its face indicates.
Everyone should have one of these little guys!
I was getting fed up with woefully inadequate upright vacuums. I had two Dyson’s, the first caught fire whilst in use (I had to throw it out of the back door!) after hoovering up some hair, the second lost so much suction after a few months of general use that is was pretty much useless. So I switched to Vax, again great for a while and then went rapidly downhill.
Henry however, well he’ll take whatever you throw at him and ask for more.. the little dude even managed to eat a whole pair of socks and keep going without slowing down, lol. Seriously though the suction (adjustable) is far greater than either Dyson or Vax, it’s more efficient thanks to the new green motor, and his attachments allow you to tack any household cleanup job with ease.
Ok so he’s a bit bulkier to store, but it’s worth it, and the extra long wind up cable is great. There’s a reason professionals use Numatic vacuums, they seriously cannot be beaten on performance and are super reliable.
Also, don’t worry about the cost/hassle of the bags, they last ages (3 months easily in a household of 5) and can be changed in seconds, you’re literally talking about no more than a few pounds a year.
Excellent compact hoover with great suction. I purchased extra tools as I didn’t think would get any but a full set of tools comes with Henry.
Had a Dyson animal previously which never picked up properly and was repaired 4 times?
Would definitely recommend.
Hi folks,
I purchased this because my sister has one, and because there was a 20 discount.
Came with 1 x bag pre-installed, and 2 x spare bags (which is excellent).
Don’t buy a VAX hoover. It cost me a fortune in repairs and was hopeless in its functionality!
Best,
Paul
Can’t beat a Henry! Easy to use and powerful suction too.
I love this little thing. It’s not loud, doesn’t use much electricity, and is very powerful. The industrial design of this vacuum and its components feel like they have been optimised over many generations to be practical, cost effective yet high quality, easy to work with and efficient. Almost every other vacuum I’ve used before felt like they were Version 1.0 products, where the manufacturer had some blatant oversights that really got in the way of functionality or practicality. Things like cutting costs in areas that shouldn’t, bad material choices, complex and prone to break design choices, etc
Not the Henry; It feels like it’s excellent value for the money, with components that are a perfect balance of cost, quality and performance. Nothing feels like it will break after 5 minutes of use.
There are a lot of replaceable accessories available for this vacuum, which also don’t cost a fortune, allowing a user to get years of use from the product. Unlike any other vacuums I’ve used in the past, which includes very expensive Dyson models, the Henry is the best quality/value and reliable vacuum I’ve ever used.
The looks of the vacuum won’t win any prizes, but it does an excellent job.
You cant go wrong with a henry hoover, we got henry to replace the 2nd dyson that has just gone to hoover heaven. Its simplicity is its key, it just works. We have mainly wooden floors and its great, also use it to take the dusty ash out of our log burner to prevent dust getting everywhere so it saves dragging the industrial unit out of the garage. With a very long hose and cable it reaches all over without having to unplug it and plug it in closer to where you have moved.

I have a chronic cough which seems to be worse in dusty conditions. Somebody recommended a Henry and it is much, much better than the vac I had before. The suction is impressive, it goes right up to the skirting, and the brush attachment gets in the crevices of the skirting board as well as doing a good job on upholstery. My cough is better since I started using it.
Surely Henry is the best vacuum cleaner on the market? What I love about him is his simplicity. There are no gimmicks (unlike certain other brands one could mention), just good, reliable performance and features that show someone has really thought about what’s useful in a vacuum cleaner – a long hose, a long lead, a beautifully simple lead retraction function, and that little hook at the back of the cleaner which allows you to slot the wand part so that it stands upright and takes up less space in the cupboard. And at 105 it’s superb value for money. I’ve had my Henry for a few years now and he is still going strong, despite some pretty rough treatment (building works etc.), and he works much better than the Dyson I had before. Great.
I had the blue Henry for 5 years before he suddenly stopped working last week. Decided to replace it with another Henry. As expected it’s a great vac at a great price. Not sure if the red Henry ever had the “boost” button … I know my blue one did. This one doesn’t have the boost button but suction seems very strong. No complaints at all. I’ve used Henry vacs all my life. My parents had them. My mom used to clean a bank with a blue Henry back in the early days.
Henry walks all over a Dyson and similar brands. It does what it says on the tin without any frills. Highly recommended.
So this is my second Numatic vacuum; the first is over 20 years old, battered to hell and still going strong in my garage/workshop. This one is equally good at cleaning (despite the lower power consumption) my carpets, wooden floors and furniture, without struggling, leaving dust behind or being so fragile that it breaks at the first knock. The tools are good and you have enough of a selection to complete just about any cleaning job. The hose is long enough to do stairs, providing you do half from the top and half from the bottom.
Bag changing is quick and easy, just unclip the lid, lift of the filter and pull the bag away from the nozzle, replace with a new bag and reassemble.
Never seen my carpet so clean ! Such a powerful little kit! A must have…five stars with no doubt!!
Why didn’t anybody ever tell me about Hendry!!!! I am 36 years old and have gone through so many different hoovers over the years, and none of them come up to the standard of a Hendry!
I had previously used a dyson and a fax, but still wasn’t an excellent suction on them, plus were heavy to pull around.
I purchased a Hendry as I had a 25 Amazon voucher to use, and it is my new best friend. Omg! You could even see the edges of my carpet starting to come up as it was so powerful! The switch on the hoover head which changes from carpet to hard floors is amazing and and you can really feel the difference between the two types of floors, but the suction still remains powerful.
It is on wheels, so no more bad backs! Plus the lead is so long, I no longer have to change plugs to go upstairs!
I am honestly thrilled to bits, and spoke to one of my friends who has had hers for nearly 20 years and swears by her Hendry
If you are looking for an absolutely great hoover that does the perfect job, then this is a must! No wonder these large cleaning firms and large companies use them! Hendry is my new love.. :-)))))))
