HK GAMING GK61 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard 60 Percent | 61 RGB Rainbow LED Backlit Programmable Keys | USB Wired | For Mac and Windows PC | Hotswap Gateron Optical Silver Switches | Black
GK61 is a standard-sized 60% keyboard featuring RGB backlighting, USB-C wired connection, and optical switches . The USB-C cable is detachable for convenience of portability.
Optical switches are much more durable than conventional mechanical keyboard switches and are rated for 100 million keystrokes.
They have a high actuation point of 1.5mm for fast response. Light Strike optical switches utilize a horizontal infrared beam which is transmitted across the width of the inner keyswitch.
The infrared beam is normally blocked from reaching a sensor across from it by the stem. Once a switch is pressed, the switch stem no longer blocks the infrared beam and the beam is detected by the sensor, which activates the switch.
Due to the optical mechanism, an optical switch has an extremely fast response time of 0.2ms, which means faster reactions in those times where timing is critical, such as when gaming.

Picked up the gateron optical silvers switches. Ive always used blue swtiches for gaming and work but frequently felt they were heavy for gaming so decided to get a new tkl keyboard with red switches just for gaming but I came across gk60 instead and loved the aspect of 60% because it saves me so much space.
I opted for the silvers because they are really smooth and have a very fast actuation response. They are known to be one of the fastest switches after yellows. I’ve tested yellows from a friend and personally didn’t feel like it was the right fit for me. I took a gamble by picking the silver switches and they are perfect. Much softer than reds and slightly heavier than yellows. It the perfect sweet spot.
For gaming they are the beast but for typing we’ll need practice with it because there is a possibility of actuating another key hence leading to mistakes but that’s because they have a really quick key response time and that’s why they are the best for gaming. If you’re looking to write documents or programming and a casual gamer who doesn’t play much fps games. Then I would recommend you pick Brown’s. I myself use blue swtiches for work and silvers just for gaming. ( You can see my desk setup pic)
Now the sound, silver switches are linear so they don’t have the clicky sound that blue swtiches make and tbh I prefer it that way. Ppl you play with hate hearing clicky keyboard coz they miss out on enemy foot steps plus it is very distracting while gaming. Hence I use the blues just for work like typing mails, documents etc. Ive attached a video for sound comparison.
I definitely recommend this keyboard to fps gamers (serious and casual) its worth it !!!

The keyboard:
Small, yet functional keyboard. Comes with a long (5ft i guess?) Usb-c cable which I was quick to trade with my phone’s short charger (life hacks). Per key RGB is plenty good, didn’t bother using the software (didn’t recognize my keyboard) for custom key mapping. Everyone reviewing mentions that the ABS key caps are frosted (or matt) finish on top and glossy on the sides, but the one I received has all matt finish key caps. I honestly like matt over glossy as glossy gets easily scratched. Also, there is no microphone under the space bar for music synced RGB (some early reviews mentioned they have it), I can’t be bothered as I don’t use computer speakers anyway.
My experience:
Despite being all plastic, GK61 has some heft to it. This is my first experience, albeit first in a very long time, with a mechanical keyboard, so I haven’t yet gotten accustomed to the nuances of a mech keyboard. Not able to match the typing speed on my Blade 15’s keyboard yet, all in time until I develop finger memory. Haven’t had issues while gaming (CS:GO mostly), but encountering a lot of errors while typing mostly due to low actuation distance of Gat Silvers and no tactile (pfft, i know right?) feedback on key presses. So, further pressing down the key caps obviously doesn’t do anything, but feels quite odd if not pressing keys all the way (idk probably just me as I’m not used to it yet).
Minor con:
One minor quality issue I have with my keyboard is that the bigger key caps (shift, enter, space bar etc) wobble when you nudge them longitudinally (tangentially to the plane of the keyboard) at key cap ends. My guess is due to cheap quality stabilisers. I’ll probably look into upgrading them later on.
Future prospects:
That’s something would great to experiment on this cheap (in comparison) keyboard, modding the insides. My first mod will probably be adding a regular foam inside for a some thoccy-ness (everyone loves thoccy keyboards right?). Followed by stabilisers and then lubrication, perhaps.
Tl;dr:
– Good enough for a modding journey.
– Choose your switches wisely.
– Less options for optical switches.
Note:

The crispines of the keystroke is commendable. The slight bump and 1 mm of pretravel is perfect for long 9 hours of work and typing. Highly recommended and preferred for great typing experience. No miss keystrokes and increased typing accuracy helped me a lot to reduce the repeat work.
This is not a GK61 from “Meckeys”. This is HK gaming gk61 and trust me this is for Rs5,499 which is not worth the money you pay and its an optical mechanical keyboard not an Mechanical ones. IMPORTANT!! This keyboard doesn’t provide stoppers or grip in bottom, they have just given empty slots in grip section. Also this one has different lightning modes than what u get in GK61 from meckeys which is for 5,200 rs. I got it with silver switches and tbh switches are amazing no doubt.

I wanted to like this keyboard SO BAD but I just couldn’t and the reason for that is the layout of it.
I am used to fullsize keyboards and have been looking for a purple keyboard with RGB leds for the LONGEST time. When I found this one, I figured I would get used to the smaller layout of the keyboard, but I received it and just hated it. With pain in my heart, I returned it.
If you like small keyboard layouts, I recommend this product 100% which is why I’m writing this review. It’s just not for me. The RGB leds were absolutely gorgeous and the keyboard overall felt very nice and durable when testing it out. The colour lavender it has is absolutely perfect.
All in all, if this keyboard existed in fullsize layout I would absolutely THROW my money at it because it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. But I just can’t with the small layout. So sad 🙁

Great keyboard for gaming and typing. The lights are dope and I got the hyperx white pudding keycaps for it. Would 100% recommend this keyboard to anyone looking to try out a 60%. P.S. buy a wrist rest you will thank yourself later.
love the sound and colors. i personally love using the mic option the most. the ability to customize all lighting is cool too, even though its confusing.
Purchased for my 12 year old. He was very satisfied with the look, size and quality of the unit. I’m not a gamer so that’s all the info I can provide.
Best keyboard for it’s price. We can change keycaps and also switches in this keyboard. Top for gaming. It has a great look and gives your set up an aesthetic look and all switches are programable and has lots of light effects and can also customize it. Using of the software is good not that simple but can be figured out easily. If you have an 1000 more to spend buy the yellow switches which is more faster than brown. But brown is not bad it is also very good but comparatively yellow is slightly good.

It is amazing i have been having it around 3-2 months and it was so many things to offer and great for price many modes of the keyboard but ill wont spoil the rest and let you test it yourself but overall amazing.
The keyboard is really nice build quality.
The software needs some work but over all this is a really good keyboard the optical red switches sound butter smooth.
Simply put, you can’t go wrong with this. I was hesitant to buy this because my work requires arrow keys and fn keys but it works just fine. Another plus point is that they’re optical switches, she I don’t see them failing anytime soon. I was using the logi G413 which was a nightmare with key breakages, the double actuation issues. Worthy upgrade. Chose this over the HyperX Alloy Origins and so far I don’t regret this choice. I bought the Gateron Brown Variant because I game less and type more

I really like this product because of how nice and smooth it is. The colors are also very bright. The cord is pretty long too which is nice. Keys are easy to take off too and it comes with the key cap remove
Great value for your money, I bought the silver switch version and it is absolutely amazing. Great keyboard, would definitely buy again.
Very good product, sounds very clean, wish it was a bit more customisable with the rgb
It has decent stabs and has nice switches the usb is on the left hood rgb solid keyboard
GK61, switches Gateron Optical Brown (Hot-Swappable), RGB, case negro.

The plug to charge the keyboard does not work. I would to replace i
After many hours of research and videos of which keyboard I should get, I ended up getting the GK61 as a beginner board (budget AND hot-swappable!) I followed a few videos (How to EASILY Lube an Optical Mechanical Keyboard by Hipyo Tech.. Absolutely amazing tutorial you should follow.)
I lubed with Super Lube 510510 (available on Amazon) by pressing the optical browns down and squirt on each corner. Works like magic! Highly, highly recommended!!!! Also added foam behind the PCB and plate, which makes the typing experience sound/feel so much better!!
Cannot recommended this keyboard enough. Budget FTW!

Bought this for my boyfriend and he loves it, says the switches are so fast and good

Got the optical silvers with custom SA keycaps and modded it with foam. Buy this keyboard now! it’s factory lubed and feels amazing and good quality!
Just don’t like the ABS Keycap, wish they were PBT
It’s a wonderful hotswappable opto mechanical keyboard with Gateron yellows which are linear
I have added foam in the base and I gave lubed the switches with super lube and have put the custom Akko world tour Tokyo keycaps and the keyboard is amazing to type on and also for gaming. It’s a fast switch and buttery smooth after the mods.
It is great even at stock but better when modded
The price is also very reasonable. A couple of months ago it was around 14K like so many other 60% keyboards on Amazon India where sellers list prices of keyboards which costs $50-$200 as high as INR 15000- 45000 ( plz regulate the prices …. it’s daylight robbery )
Not the best for gaming but great quality feels nice on fingers and in hand, rgb is really nice, the brown switch sounds amazing
Schneller als das Apex Pro. Bestes Keyboard was ich jemals benutzt habe. Aktuaktionspunkt von nur 0.2mm

Son loves this for his PS4. Lights up different colors at once or independently. Really slick looking smaller size keyboard. At times he plays the keys hard and they hold up well.
It is a pretty neat, clean keyboard its definetly gonna be an upgrade from my old hyperx alloy fps full sized keyboard, because im a fairly competitive player for a few games and my mouse always hits the keyboard but hopefully this fixes it, worth money

If u know how to mod/lube keyboard this is so decent for the price
everything is good on the keyboard except that escape (esc) key is not working. Tried every thing in the bag. Might need to return the produc
eally good keyboard except the driver is not the best. at first when i was downloading it the website was all chinese writing and i thought it was a little sketchy but i researched it and it was the actual website so i downloaded it and sometimes the rgb won’t change but either than that it’s a very good keyboard

This was on my son’s Christmas list and came in time for him to open it. He asked for it, he got it, he loves it. Stock keyboard didn’t perform how he wanted for gaming. This one does.
I bought the Gateron Brown ones. The only objective negative I found its the keycaps and its stabilization. The ABS keycaps aren’t as sturdy as PBT ones and the keys wobbles a bit. Doesn’t affect its performance but does feel cheap. RGB is great. Arrow keys can be permanently switched on. Gap between keys is appreciated. Great for gaming and typing.
The subjective negative is that brown switches aren’t good at feedback. The bump you feel is very slight, plasticky, feels almost like annoying pothole on the road rather than a good bump. Compared to metallic ‘click’ from the blues, these feel nothing. My light fingers could only feel them while I typed slowly, not while gaming nor while typing fast. And its not “silent” you will hear the “clack” when the plastic keycap hits the plastic base when pressed hard, present in every keyboard, which does make loud noise. The only silence is there is no metallic click sound.

I wished I could have gotten the red coloured version (not the switches, actual keyboard) but looks like they’re low on stock.
I love how compact it is, where the fn key is put (to be next to arrows). Despite not being fully mechanical, a very much enjoyable typing experience. I think it’s a great value for what you’re paying for.
My only gripe would be if I could control the lighting with software, otherwise, if you don’t mind that, it’s honestly a great buy.

I was a bit hesitant to order this keyboard, First, this being my first 60% keyboard and second, this being my first ever mechanical keyboard xD , and also I’m a software dev, so the keyboard is a thing that you can’t mess with it. If you aren’t comfortable with it then you can’t write code on it; it’s as simple as that. I’ve used other mechanical keyboards, The Logitech and also the HyperX alloy, I know Arrow keys Section plays a big role when you are coding and also even when you are just surfing on the internet and I’m telling you this with my own experience, you will not feel any difference! You just have to give it some time to get your brain used to it. (It took approx 2 days for me) and also it comes with software and some layers so if you’re a computer geek just like me, then you can tweak some stuff there, play with macros, LEDs, and all, but it’s on you. If Hyperx is out of your budget and you are looking for a normal usage mechanical keyboard then this keyboard surely will be the best option for you at this moment.
PROS: everything is programmable., doesn’t have a clicky sound, optical switches, comfy and compact design.
CONS: keycaps can be an issue here, but you can change them if you have some spare money in your hand. that’s the only reason I’m giving it a 5 star Rating, company should provide PBT keycaps at least for WASD keys and also command and other keys for MAC, just like other companies do.

Son loves it, especially as he can change light settings
its rlly good, the rgb lightning has many options, plus the program. although its only hotswappable with optical switches, if youre looking for a 60% pink keyboard this is the best out there

I bought this the other day and I’ll be honest I wasn’t expecting it to be what everyone else is saying it is but holy was I surprised how consistent the keyboard actually was very durable and came in 2 days
(This keyboard has really satisfying asmr)
This was a gift for my 15 yr old grandson who is into ‘gaming’ big time. He’s very particular with his technology and has given this little keyboard a 10/10 He absolutely loved it. With all the flashing colours it looks spectacular. Certainly a little WOW factor at a really excellent price.

The GK61 with Gateron Silver Switches has one of the fastest actuation points in the world. I would highly recommend it with either Silver or Yellow switches if you are a competitive gamer. The actuate almost as soon as you press the key, and the fact that the switches are linear makes them smooth and satisfying to press.

This keyboard is amazing, compact and fast
The yellow switch are bit expensive but brown switch are also good.
The keyboard suites for fortnite where there is building machanics and you have to build faster
This is the best time to buy this keyboard
Keyboard build quality is really good.
Don’t use the included keycap puller , they are trash.
Little bit expensive.

The gk61 with yellow switches is the way to go. for the people who play fortnite I recommend this keybored it is fast and because it’s a smaller keybored you have more space on your mouse pad
Ever use a mechanical keyboard?? I will never use anything else even at work. Plus the smaller width. Makes u use different tendents so some pain went away.
his keyboard is great in all aspects… except typing, in my experience. gaming is great, esports titles are a big attraction for this board with those optical yellow switches like i have, but the typing experience for me isn’t the greatest. these switches are incredibly light, and actuate at a really really low point. so if you have ‘fat fingers’ for typing or gaming, you’re definitely going to accidentally hit those wrong keys. misspelling words on this keyboard is going to happen a lot when typing, even if you slightly graze over those keys that you didn’t mean to touch, they’re going to actuate.
other than the typing experience cons, the esports experience is phenomenal, the response time out of this keyboard is amazing. optical yellows are a very good switch for esports gaming, and i’m pretty sure they’re faster than the steel series apex pro switches.
overall, great board. but don’t buy this board with yellows if you’re a typist… unless your absolutely confident that you’re not going graze over those wrong keys.

This keyboard is so good for gaming. The cable stays in so well and will not fall out well your in a game. Even if your just typing with it it has a very good layout. With it being a 60% keyboard it will fit well on any desk. I really recommend this keyboard.
For gaming it has very good material it’s got a cable that is out of the way and detachable the only thing I don’t like is that the software is very confusing
This is one solid little keyboard. Great premium feel at a fraction of the cost of similar ‘custom’ keyboards. The software is great once you figure it out (it’s not that hard despite the critical reviews)
I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a gaming keyboard!
I love this 60 percent keyboard, it provides minimalistic and has great material for its cost. Actuation was what I expected knew what I was getting. If you are on a budget or need a simple 60% keyboard that has a sweet spot for quality and price this is definitely the one to get.
This overall is a very good keyboard for typing and gaming. There are a couple problems however. First of all the USB-C cable that it comes with doesn’t actually work with the keyboard (or at least for me). As in the lights would turn on but i couldn’t type. And the actual software for the keyboard is extremely hard to find but once you find it it’s pretty easy to work around.
