Simply put this is the future of gaming, easily the most beautiful game out at the moment.

Gameplay is deep and engaging with varied combat, puzzles and traversal.

Story is excellent, though I would highly recommend playing Zero Dawn before you play this as it is a continuation of that games story and you’ll gain a lot of contextual understanding of what is happening by having played that, which is an easy recommendation as Zero Dawn was also an excellent game.

    A very easy 5/5

Greatest game on PS5 that I have played. Wish it came with more bonuses in the special edition!

If you haven’t started Horizon Forbidden West yet now is the time to do so! This special edition comes with a lovely little art book and a gorgeous steel case for the physical game. I was blown away first by the stunning visuals and how much the team has worked on character, environmental, sound updates from Zero Dawn. The STORY! You’ve just got to play it to understand the every complex narrative that twists and turns with each quest. New machines! New ways to travel! You won’t regret it. Aloy is waiting

Is that an epic game I see on the Horizon!?

I good go on forever with this review, als I will say is this is as close to real life in the way of graphics you will ever see in a video game. And the lip syncing is 100% polished with every characters even the MPC’s that are just mining around. You will find yourself in the photo mode taking photos more than playing the game. But the game is amazing story is EPIC. PS they have just released the mp3 music 142 tracks for 7.49 on amazon. outstanding music and game. 100000000000 and beyond recommended.

Improves on the first games gameplay in every way. A mind-blowing story and the best character and environment modelling of this generation so far. A milestone in video game history and a must buy for PlayStation owners.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter 120 hours and a platinum trophy I have some thoughts on my experience.

    Pros
    – beautiful game world with some unique settings/areas that I wasn’t expecting. Honestly a quarter of my play through was spent climbing mountains and taking in the view (and photos)-super relaxing and fun!

-Zero Dawns soundtrack was great, this one manages to expand on it and combined with the visualsit brings the forbidden west to life.

-The writing for and performance of the characters is fantastic, they really came to life (even if one or two are criminally underused for some reason). Compared to ZD they look much more like people, aiding immersion.

-Combat is more challenging (on normal upward) and requires
that you invest resources in a range of weapons and upgrades to meet each encounter (as opposed to ZD, where you got the DLC weapons, upgraded them and then won every time)

-Much more variety in the puzzle sections (Relic Ruins, Cauldrons etc).

-The new machines offer different challenges and the old ones can still be as tough.

-The shieldwing adds layers to combat and makes exploration much more fun.

    -Overall I liked the story.

    Cons
    – I could have done without melee pits being tied to a trophy. Melee is better in this game than ZD but still doesn’t feel complete (let me press R3 to lock on to a character and use the shieldwing to block/parry!).

    – Once you get 2/3 of the way through the story it seems to jump too quickly to the endgame, feels like something was cut. As a result, some of the reveals feel less earned/impactful.

    – I liked it, but not everyone will appreciate the direction of the story compared to ZD.

-The racing league found the secret to Mario Kart Rubberbanding in an old world ruin.

-Aloy sounds like she is reading out a really detailed GameFAQs guide to herself throughout the whole game. It wears thin after a while.

-An option to zoom the in game camera/field of view out would be good

-Some of the side conent is fairly generic.

Overall I enjoyed the game a lot, but don’t feel I gained anything by buying the premium edition. Expected a little more for the price.

So far I’m absolutely loving Horizon Forbidden West. It’s even better than the first game, and that is a high bar to hit. I would definitely recommend it to new and previous Horizon Zero Dawn players.

Horizon Forbidden West is everything I wanted in a sequel! I have owned a PS5 since launch and until HFW I had yet to find a game that I truly felt demonstrated the abilities of this new console.

It’s visually stunning, with options to play in a performance or resolution mode depending on your player style. The gameplay has approved across the board, which overall felt more immersive and challenging. The narrative is beautifully crafted — continuing directly on from its predecessor, this story still managed to feel different with a complete new area to explore with all aspects on a larger scale than Zero Dawn.

My biggest advice to anyone going into the game is to interact with every object, character or side quest you come across (if you have the time to do so). Guerrilla have greatly improved on these small elements this time round that when explored properly, really enhance the game emotionally and allow you to get to know Aloy and her companions above the surface level you receive in the main story.

As for any glitches/bugs, I have played 60+ hours and am on my way to getting the platinum trophy after completing the main story, but so far I have only encountered one minor bug which Guerrilla has already had a patch fix for. Personally it hasn’t affected my experience of the game, and I do think an odd glitch here and there at launch is pretty standard considering the impressive size of the open world. I know others are reporting larger issues, but this is just my experience of HFW.

As for the Special Edition on PS5, it is worth the extra money for fans of the original game. The box and steel case look amazing for collectors like myself. You also get a nice art book and a digital download of the soundtrack, which is phenomenal and I highly recommend.

Overall, I think it is a fantastic improvement from Zero Dawn and I can’t wait to see what Guerrilla has in store for us next.

    Breathtaking Sequel

I love this open world. Its incredible. Ive just about achieved the platinum on the game and all i want to say is good things about the game. But theres a couple activities, gripes, bugs and mechanics that hold it back for me. Firstly, the story goes places i didnt really like for the game. Secondly, the climbing system is so janky, it works half the time and not very well at that. Thirdly, some combat combo challenges are frustrating as hell. It straight up sucks. I loved the robot dinosaurs and the creativity gone into it. Solid sequel to zero dawn, i love the lore. Just a good overall 4/5 for me.

TLDR this is an amazing game with top notch graphics, a solid storyline and great combat. HOWEVER, if you own a PS5, you can totally buy the PS4 version (for up to 20 cheaper on the deluxe version) and then get the free PS5 upgrade offer through the PS Store.
There is no reason whatsoever to pay 10 extra to get the standard PS5 edition. That said, I’m a fool and spent 20 extra on account of the nice case, PS5 disc edition (maybe one day I will sell it/give it away) and the art book.
The case is nice, the art book is fairly small, but does have some nice art and the disc, er, works.
If the above line sounds like its worth 20, buy it – if not, please save some money.

PS – Aloy why you so mad now? Calm down and be a bit nicer to everyone, geez

The special edition was well worth the money for any fan of the original I would highly recommend it.

The box and steel case is nicely done alongside the beautiful art book which is a hard cover. The game itself is amazing!

Graphics a bit of a let down. Game has hanged a few times. Controls seem slow/lag at times? A few hours in, 7% completed.

As I played first game Horizon zero down 5 years ago this game is very similar. Its bigger size than previous but only slightly improved graphics there is no reason to spend 80 pounds just for art book. The story is nice sometimes frame rate sometimes falls so needs to be fixed some bugs aswel it feels like at 5 years period Guirella developed the same quality game especially version for ps5 it’s shame a bit.I love this game and hope they will fix some bugs and guys if you think is next gen game for ps5 I can disappoint you because it’s only slightly better than ps4 version but I didn’t expected for something more so buy ps4 version and upgrade for ps5 and I think the is the best way.

Epic adventure with a great story . I’ve been gaming over 30 years and I’m blown away by the visuals , especially in 4K. The details and narrative are excellent. Great immersive gameplay , Should be game of the year !
Buy this game you wont be disappointed .
Forbids Horizon 2 really showcases the ps5’s capabilities.

This is a stunningly beautiful game from what I’ve seen. An issue I’m now beginning to encounter however is the sorry. It’s just nowhere near as interesting as the first.

I won’t spoil anything but it creates some big questions fairly early on. It becomes fairly obvious what’s going on if you follow the logs only then it’s al put on a plate for you in one conversation.

Whereas the first game had me exploring freely soaking up the world I’ve found myself just sprinting or even using the fast travel.

I loved the original, I’m not shooting this down I just feel something is missing.
