This product is amazing it makes watering , gardening , filling the pond , washing the cars well just everything so much easier I just walk to where I want and when done a simple little tug and I walk it back it makes the chore of tidying up the hose so simple now where as before it would often be left spread across the garden because i couldn’t be bothered with the effort of having to wind it all up again time is precious so anything that takes less is always a winner in this house , I love this so much I brought the 10 m mini for the front garden !

This is a great piece of kit, substantial in both weight and size, but perfect for the job. Easy to install, with a mounting template printed on the box lid. Great to use and the rewind function is a joy, especially when the hose is greatly extended.

This is my second hozelock. The first snapped at the spindle on the garage wall. This one is definitely heavier so I hope it lasts! It is so easy to use and the rewind is superb

With 40 mgrs of hose pipe that automatically rewinds when you have finished watering your garden or washing your car. It’s big and somewhat heavy but the wall bracket is built to take the weight.
Easy to hang on the wall, drill four holes the correct size fit the rawl plugs and away you go. When you buy this make sure you buy what ever attachments you need, such as garden sprinkler or what ever.
Well made and durable will last for years.

Works as it should, but you do need to do a bit of assembly to the hoses, and they are a tight fit!
Plus the screws they supply for the wall mount bracket could do with an upgrade! Maybe to hex or torque head screws.

This reel has changed rolling up the hose from a chore to a joy. It is so easy to unroll and return, I previously had a reel with a winding handle which in a big garden is a lot of hard work to roll up. The only word of caution is that the suppled fixings pulled out of the wall the first time I used it, I don’t know if it’s because I have sandstone walls but I used cement anchors and adhesive and it’s never moved since.
For years I have suffered with leaking hoses that remain uncoiled thus making my patio a real mess. I had looked at wall mounted solutions in the past but when I saw this Hozelock 40m hose for only 130, I bit the bullet. The instructions seemed straightforward, but be warned, affixing to the wall is not the easiest of jobs. I used the correct drill size and the supplied raw plugs fitted but screwing in very difficult as the screws are quite long. In the end, I susstituted one of the top ones with a shorter screw which worked out well. I had put the mount to the left (as you look at it) of the tap assuming that the hose connected to that side. Wrong. It goes on the other side but luckily the connector hose was long enough to reach the other side and allowed the reel to swing in both directions.
All connected, I walked to the end of the garden and had the tap switched on by someone. After a minute or so the water began to flow out and as I pulled on the hose, it released the mechanism and I could walk back with the hose retracting beautifully. And there were no leaks anywhere.
This is a great value retractable hose and I have dropped one star because of a) the installation issues and b) the lack of a pistol spray head – only a nozzle is provided. This makes turning off the water a bit more complicated than it should be. But, I have ordered a spray gun now (not Hozelock as they are 23) and I am sure that will sort out this little niggle.

Why on earth didn’t I get a self retracting hose before?? I know this is expensive, but after being forced to move an outside tap I needed a much longer hose and decided to give this one a go (I’ve had to get the really long version) – and it’s simply brilliant. Hope it lasts many years.
Only thing I’d say is that installing this on the wall was a bit tricky as the bracket makes accessing the screws quite difficult – especially if they are tight to do up (which if you follow the fitting instructions they will be!)
Make sure you have a long handled screw driver and you are careful as the screw heads are a little soft – take your time!
If you think 130 is pricey for a hose, check out the local garden centre: mine was about double the price plus a bit. The item itself is a bit bulky but surprisingly easy to install and the instructions are clear. The first thing is to identify a good place near the tap (note the tap to unit hose length provided is pretty short, you can replace this with a length of spare hose if you have it). The unit swings almost 180 degree’s left and right so make sure it’s in a open space. The wall mounting is simple but as ever the markings for the wall holes are the biggest challenge (I used a small drill bit to get guide marks). The mountings hold well regardless of surface and then it’s just a case of connecting the water source to the units by removing the side cover -use a flat screw driver, it detached easily. Unscrew the white pop out connector and attach the tap to hose unit length of hose and tighten. The unit has a pop down fixing at the rear, make sure to detach both sides and once mounted pop them back in. Good length and with a gentle pull it automatically retracts the hose.
Great hose, but the fixings could be improved. The screws could do with being bigger as they don’t seem like they will hold the hose that well due to the weight of the hose. The box had a fixing guide for the holes which is a good idea. On Amazon it says about a side storage which is not true, one side has the hose attached and the other side is the child lock, there’s a part underneath to attach the hose gun but not storage inside. We changed over the water gun to the multi sprayer as the one that comes with it is not very good, again something Hozelock could improve on because this hose is expensive. Auto reel works so well, makes life a lot easier just walking it back to the housing unit. I would recommend this hose.
Good length
While it is expensive, it is well built and moves smoothly from side to side. For us the reach of the hose is ideal. While only time will tell, but as of now we would recommend it.
Gets water from a to b without buckets
Really like this. It is very handy. Messed about for years with portable hose reel. This is great and at 40 metres I can get jet wash to all 4 sides of the house. Although about half way round jet washing becomes a lot less fun and I tend to start drinking beer and resting more.
Easiest way to handle 40m of hose.
Really easy to install and great setup. The reel does sometime struggle to wind all 40meters of hose in but it’s still much easier than winding by hand or manually coiling. The reel can be easily removed from the wall bracket and stored indoors over winter.

I am aware that this is not the cheapest around but with the offer price it was a great opportunity to get it as a brilliant deal. Let’s face it you get what you pat for No hesitation to recommend.
Tidy Hose Reel
A compact wall mounted hose reel that will extend to 40M. Unreels quite smoothly but requires some heavy pulling to extend to full length. Case swivels so you can extend in a 180 degree arc. I have 3 of these to cover our large garden.
They last between 3-6 years, depending on use, as eventually the rewind mechanism stops working.
Overall a tidy solution to messy hoses.

Hose
Replacing my 10 year+ one had slight problem but used part from old one which is still practically the same! No improvement in fact perhaps not as good as had no problems first time round! Exspensive!
After about 7 years my previous version the spring rusted and failed. The newer replacement fitted on the previous wall fitting was a bonus. Need a long hose and need the self windinding option. So even though the actual old hose was perfectly good. Hence I think this brand is likely to be better than cheaper alternatives
Install was good although I had to improvise a little to gain easy access to the screw heads. Love the little touches like, small area to add lock so that it can’t go walk a-bouts & the child lock feature is also very good.
I would also suggest putting the hose connections into boiling water to help soften to hose for an easier install on the hose connections.
I read a lot of reviews about this product leaking which nearly put me off, I can only think it’s down to the tight hose fittings and not using hot water to soften the hose may course it to leak.
I’m glad I brought one, also for some reason this Amazon seller took over a week to deliver which was the only disappoint part about the whole thing.
It is heavy!
It’s quite heavy, of course, so two people are better than one! Make sure you position it with space on both sides to enable it to swing as necessary.
The lady we bought it for is delighted with it and finds it a pleasure to use.
However! The downside is that the first one that arrived was so battered that the delivery company took it away again back to their depot. I am still being hassled for payment, in spite of the fact that it was not delivered to me. And this is the fourth time I have explained this so far.
Auto hose
Makes a harsh clunk when you pull hose out and you want to get the right length. The hose is very smooth and easy to retract back, its not too bulky and as hose reels go it neat and tidy

Good product but but inadequate fixings
As stated by many customers the fixings supplied are woefully inadequate but once I purchased the correct fittings the unit is now securely fixed to my wall. Also as stated by others the unit is heavy and you need to take this into account when installing.
As for the hose it is perfect for my needs around my house front and back.

Decent but don’t use the template
It’s a big old hose and unit. The template for the mount to drill the holes in your wall is so incorrect it’s unreal. I’m a carpenter by trade so tend to measure twice and cut once. Stupidly I trusted the template was correct however it’s not. Use the mount as the template and make your drill points with perm marker. Also, not sure how long that mount will hold the hose reel up. Seems fairly flimsy. What can I say though, turn on tap, water comes out. Does what it says on the ti

Much smoother to operate than old Hozelock reel. I replaced the fixings supplied by bigger and longer fixings. The customer services at Hozelock were first class.

Things to note: 1) it is large – if you’re mounting it in a confined space such as beside a shed or behind a gate, make sure you measure it first. 2) the screws supplied have the usual cheap soft heads on them so burr off easily when you’re tightening them; also the rawlplugs supplied are not compatible with the length of the screws. Otherwise the practicality more than makes up for any slight frustrations. Brilliant product.

Fittings ie the screws NOT adequate
Fixings I.e. screws. The screws supplied are totally inadequate. We used larger screws but these were also not enough to keep on the wall and had to revert to getting large bolt screws directly into the concrete and hope that this is the answer. I do feel the supplier needs to supply adequate fixings otherwise the hose will fall to the ground and get damaged and replacement will be necessary which is bad for business. Creme de la creme of hosepipes
Excellent hose-pipe and very well engineered.
Have owned it since the summer and it has performed well. They do advise to take indoors during the winter but I have left it on the wall up-till now. It’s light enough to remove from the wall in any case but I’m thinking it will need draining properly to avoid puddles in the garage. The auto-reel mechanism works flawlessly; it doesn’t kink and get snarled up like every other hose-pipe seems to. There may be slightly reduced pressure as its 30m in length, but my 150 bar Nilfisk pressure washer works without any problems. Yes it’s expensive, but hopefully no need to buy another one ever again.
I purchased the 20m hose for my mum which also works well.
Easy to put togethe
Only used a couple of times so far, winter weather, not leaving outside on the wall don’t want it to freeze.
Be warned this is a real beast of a machine, not a light weight to lift on and off wall mounting/
Fabulous
Why have I not purchased one before?! Probably as it is not cheap however I think it is worth every penny having used it. No more hosepipe lying on the ground to trip over, the easy reel is fantastic so simple to use and doesn’t get jammed in the unit as it moves from side to side whilst reeling in. Definitely five stars from me.
Could not be without it !
Replaced my old one and just love using it for anything outside around house and garden. Great for using with Karcher for car wash as well as hosing anywhere in garden or patio. Would definitely recommend it. Great value for money.
Rubbish
2nd Hozelock In 2 years spring snapped twice, the 20m one got 14 months out of it and used around 3/4 times a week, the 30m was approx same snapped coils wit little use. Best Buy the cheap ones at least you can get 2 for the price of 1. Recommended to not buy.
Eight Years of Life
Purchased this 8 years ago – it has been brilliant piece of kit after suffering with tangled kinked hoses for far too long. I have treated it really badly – letting the 40m reel back in at lightning speed without a hand on it when it’s meant to be walked back in at a more sedate speed, left out every winter, reeled in when full of water, reeled in with lots of garden debris attached to it. Despite that – it has worked faultlessly until now. The gear locking mechanism has broken inside – appears to be a plastic gubbins – so can only hold the hose in extended position by using the lock switch on side. Pretty sure it’s the wild retraction technique I’ve been inflicting on it for years. Plan to buy a new one and apply a little more care – but very happy to have got 8 years out of it.

L O V E this! Got it for my barn to fill water buckets up. The best thing I’ve bought for the barn. It keeps the floor clean as it retracts back into itself and there’s no having to coil anything up. Just fasten it to the wall and go. The niggles was the pipe inside wasn’t fitted to the outside/feed pipe and the screws where small so we put some good 6 inch ones in.

Really happy with this hose reel… just needed to connect the pipe inside and tighten with a threaded nut. Works as it should, no messing about wraping the hose up, just release the mechanism by pulling the hose and it retracts the hose automatically…

This hose is working very well, wife is in love with me again. However, fixing it to wall is a nightmare. The reason for this, it’s fixing holes are so close to corner of fixing brackets and there is a huge pillar goes in the middle of wall bracket which stops screwdrivers to reach to those holes. The angle is very bad, you cannot use cordless screwdriver or short screwdriver because pillar stops it. You need really long strong screwdriver to screw it. It took me two days to fit it. Beside that hose is good quality and mechanism works well..

I’m a big fan and have bought two of these now. I see so many sad and cracked reels that are leaking, on the floor in a tangled mess or require the biceps of Popeye to wind them up. Buy this, pull it out, water, it pulls itself back in, done. You may have to hunt around for the longer lengths.

I don’t know how I have managed all these years without this. It is so easy to use. Gets the job done so much quicker than using my old hose on a reel. The thing I love best about it is the comfortable way the hose retracts perfectly back inside the drum. I absolutely love it and highly recommend. Totally recommend this item.
auto reel
I have the 90ft version for the back garden which has been great over the past four years and needed smaller version for the veg patch at the side of the house, realise there is less hose etc, but it does seem very flimsy and a thinner hose , will see how it goes as just bought , but not impressed .
