Lots of negative comments on this item but I still bought it to see for my self. I’ve had no problems at all starts first time and a excellent machine. Value for money and does it job really well.

I read all the positive and negative reviews before buying this pole-saw. I am happy with the performance and quality now I have used it. It’s been used over several days at an allotment and in the garden, cutting overgrown hedges and small trees with thick branches, and the pole-saw handles everything. Getting the chain oil to flow right took a few attempts. It’s also very important to stop, after a few cuts, and re-tighten the chain, which slackens during use. Otherwise it starts fine, it’s heavy but not too heavy, the strap works, the extension pole gives good reach. For this price, it’s a good purchase versus the cost of hiring an expensive model.

I needed a pole saw for my large apple tree and researched the market. This machine is approximately 1/4 the price of the petrol pole saws by well known German and Swedish manufacturers and also cheaper than battery powered pole saws (which have limited run time).
The assembly is relatively straight forward in that only the handle needs to be attached. However, attaching the handle is quite tedious as 2 of the 4 screws are obstructed in such a way that they must be undone and tightened in multiple small turns with the supplied Allen key.
The starting instructions could be much better. The instructions say to pull out the choke and then pull the starting cord and repeat until the engine starts. In fact, if the engine does not start within 4 to 6 pulls it will just end up completely flooded and fail to start with the choke pulled out. What the instructions should say is: prime the engine, pull out the choke and try to start by pulling the cord briskly 4-6 times times. If it starts, engage the throttle (which automatically disengages the choke). If it does not start after 4-6 pulls, engage the throttle to disengage the choke and then pull the cord again with the choke off. It will then almost certainly start fine. This is not a fault with this machine and is common to most 2-stroke garden machinery when starting from cold.
The machine is heavy and should be used with the supplied harness which needs to be properly adjusted. Obviously do this without the engine running and it helps to have an assistant.
The fuel tank is large and a fill from the supplied fuel/oil mixing bottle fills the tank less than half full.
The machine has a tendency to stall from fuel starvation at certain angles if the fuel tank is less than half full but does not stall if the tank is full. This is quite annoying.
The saw blade cuts well and remember to run the engine at speed before advancing the blade to the branch to be cut.
There is a tendency for the area around the chain sprocket to become clogged with chips of wood in a gungy oily mess. This means you may have to remove the sprocket cover and clean this area out quite often as you work depending on the size of the job. It will need to be cleaned up before storing the machine anyway.
All in all this is a very good machine for the price and the minor niggles are acceptable. It does the job!
If buying this machine remember you need chain oil, 2-stroke semi-synthetic oil (to mix with the fuel) and of course fuel. Factor in that you absolutely must have adequate PPE before using this machine (hard hat, ear defenders, eye protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps or trousers and decent boots). Better safe than sorry.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Usersi am used to adjusting chain tension on chain saws and am surprised how short the pin is that fits in the blade to move it back and forth when turning the tension screw. this makes tensioning the chain a very fiddly job, as the blade rides over the very short pin
petrol engine and operation including starting are great.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this product but did not use it as it was too heavy for me, it is a well know brand so cannot say if it is good or bad, but I gave it one less star. for the weight and bulkiness of the engine.

Note: I do not do weight lifting or generally heavy work, so it may be heavy for me but light for other buyers.
