Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPlus points:
    1. Easy installation and simple software interface. I use the camera in alarm mode only (no planned recording) and it is very helpful to be able to view sequential recordings with the time play back feature.
    2. Excellent motion detection in daylight.
    3. Good quality video, even in SD, although much improved when I switched from a wifi to an ethernet connection.
    4. The camera looks to be well made.
    5. Excellent customer service. Rachel reponds to queries within 24 hours. It is this aspect which, for me, tipped the balance from 4 to 5 stars overall
    6. The additional desktop software would be very useful for those with a multi- camera installation. However, I have not yet established whether time playback is possible with HiP2P which would be an added bonus.

    Minus points.
    1. The need to drill a 20mm hole in a window frame to allow the connection array to pass through. If the main cable were detachable from the camera, only a 4mm hole would be needed.
    2. Wildly over-sensitive motion detection at night. Even with the sensitivity set to 14/100, I get numerous recordings at night when nothing is happening. If it is raining at night, the recording is virtually non-stop despite the camera itself being well under cover. Maybe the IR beams are illuminating the falling raindrops giving the impression of continuous movement. I would be interested to know if this is a typical problem with security cameras at night.

Value for money product supported by excellent customer service

Excellent camera for the price (purchased on prime day deal). Easy enough to setup, good quality picture – app simple enough to use day to day. Used to monitor the back of the house so mounted at the extreme border of the property – still picks up the WiFi. Connection a little slow but this is down to location so fully expected, still able to transfer files from the device via the app. Connected easily enough to FTP server for motion detection alarms. Creates files no problem but motion detection either a little sensitive (too many alerts and files) or not sensitive enough (dogs can run round and nothing triggered) – have not quite hit the happy balance yet (but saying that I did not buy for this feature and quite frankly at the price I was not expecting it too). Camera has survived +35 temps in direct sunlight plus deluges of water – so far so good. Power supply is small enough to fit inside a weatherproof socket (just) which was an added bonus, saved me mounting a box for it. Had to adapt the weatherproof Ethernet plug to make it water tight since I was not using a wired connection, shame it did not come with a blank grommet or similar but again certainly not a deal breaker for the price.

Overall very happy with the camera and would purchase another (if the need arose).

Overall I did like this camera so this is not a negative review.

I did have to return it however, as it wasn’t suitable for my needs. It would be perfect to record a wide area such as a yard, open space, small field, large garden etc. However, we wanted it for viewing a path at the side of our house and after a long time trying to position it, it was too widescreen so we saw most of a shed wall instead of where people would walk up and down the path. We’ve had indoor cameras before so tried every trick we knew.

There was also a time lag when reviewing the footage and in real time when looking on my phone. The fibre router was a few metes away so this disappointing.

The antenna also got in the way of rotating the camera fully to try angle to fit the space.

You would also need and additional purchase of some kind of outdoor junction box as the LAN cable attachment is huge so unless you drill a 3cm hole in your external wall, you aren’t going to get that part indoors.

I would recommend this however as the price was good for the product. It just didn’t suit our home in particular.

The camera takes a little setting up. Easy to do. The app works well. I have managed to add it to the CCTV system so I can now record to my HDD as well as the SD card and get email shots as well. Found the wifi dropped out so I have wired it to the LAN.

I installed the camera without a cable purely relying on Wi-fi witch is good and you can download clips to your phone. The manual could be better but having said that the customer support is excellent. The CamHi app details can found on the box or manual. The quality is good but fiddly to set up and get right. Overall good quality for the price.

This camera is brilliant. Connected straightaway and works very well. I am most impressed with the night vision which is better than the other four wifi IP cameras of a different manufacture that I have. Area illumination at night is consistent throughout the field of view and the picture is very sharp and well contrasted. Any movement during darkness hours is immediately picked up and recorded.
The upgraded model which I have features a very convenient method of fitting an SD card which is a flap underneath the casing of the camera which when opened allows direct insertion of a micro SD card into the card holder of the camera. Very Easy to use.
I like the black body of the camera as it blends into the surrounds far better than white ones and the low intensity IR lamps for the night vision means it is far more difficult to spot by any intruder at night
The upgraded aerial for the wifi signal works very well and gives a better range than my other cameras. This will enable me to fit more cameras in areas which have so far been beyond wifi range. I plan to fit two more in the future.

Set up was straight forward the whole system (two cameras) took less than 20 mins to set up. The motion alerts need a bit of playing around as my plants blowing in the wind set them off but I desensitised that area and I get my alarm notifications with seconds. Clear and concise pictures down my driveway (30m long) and along side my house
Need to ensure the time settings are correct as one of the cameras reverted to an eastern time +8 hours
    Would recommend the cameras

We have those camera for a month now and we are very happy with the quality of the night and day vision. Our only downside would be the motion sensor … it’s goes for a leave or a dog or even just a bug flying there… we haven’t found yet the good adjustment that won’t send us push up notification every 2minutes… waking up with more than hundreds of suspicious activity seems a bit high rated for our area!

This is the third IeGeek camera that I have bought. My opinions are based on the previous two cameras.
I have used the cameras to monitor a property in France. They have been ideal for this use. Picture quality is extremely good for the price. There is no optical zoom at this price point, so effectively just blowing up the picture obviously results in a big decrease in quality as the pixel density reduces dramatically.
The camhi app is simple and effective. If you insert a Micro SD card, playback of recordings is extremely easy to carry out and to access from your phone via the app.
One big problem I have is false triggers on the camera, nearly always at night when it is using IR. There are two causes of this. One is a change in light levels, when a security camera comes on. Not a fault in the camera, but an over sensitive security light that comes on when it shouldn’t. The other false triggers are caused by cobwebs across the movement sensors on the camera. Even one fine fibre will trigger off the camera. This is quite a problem if you have a remote camera that you cannot clean. Luckily I have a neighbour who helps me out while I am not at the property. If the camera is installed on the property you live in, then the cobweb problem can be easily resolved.
Overall, great camera for the price.

I’m not IT savvy but this iegeek wireless cctv camera was so easy to set up.
Excellent image quality, easy camera alert set up to my phones from the motion sensor alert option.
WiFi works really well, not had any drop off as of yet. I was concerned about the wifi strength as the camera is set up a good distance from the router, but absolutely no issues.
I’m now going to purchase another for the front of the house. Don’t think you’ll get anything as good at this price.

Even i too works on camera subsystem,I felt this camera image quality is good and wifi signal strength is good and motion detection algorithm works perfectly as this not object detection or classifier algorithm ,This camera purely run with motion detection similar like intruder alarms in home security and night vision aspects camera in built with 31 infrared led which can nicely builds your night vision image over all.Totally i have purchased 2 camera one to front and one to backyards…Both works expected and matched with price tag…..

    Good Quality

When it arrived I followed the instructions, downloaded Hip2p, and within 3 mins it worked, and another 3 mins it was connected wirelessly.
    Image quality is good.
Lots of settings to play with and the loud speaker was very clear.
It allso works with Ispy VLC and Internet explorer.
Once port forwarding has been set up you can view camera from anywhere.

  17. StuartSalisbury says:

Easy to set up, good clear videos. Also remote access works well with the Onvifer app once port forwarding is configured on the router. Can’t access the SD storage through Onvifer though, probably because of the ONVIF profile version.

Negatives are that the motion detection is overly sensitive, and that the configuration is done through IE.

Can you please send me a link to the latest firmware?

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersResearched for a budget outdoor IP camera with 1080 resolution. I chose the IeGeek for the well written reviews and attractive price, most of the negative reviews where network related not the camera.

The camera arrived next day with free postage.

A very nice touch was to get an Email from IeGeek with some useful tips and their willingness to help if needed, with the necessary links
    .
Having previously read the online manuals the camera was easily set up on Wi-Fi and phone using CamHi and on my PC using HiP2P. Added a 128gb SD which worked OK
    .
The camera was mounted outside using a small junction box to hold the cables see picture.

So far I have been impressed with the picture quality both day and night and the cameras software controls for setting up on my LAN, so I now need to master remote access which looks a little more difficult but know help is at hand should I need it. (Will update later if I experience problems).

To sum up I am very impressed with the camera it does more than required and at an extremely attractive price and may well buy a second camera to cover another area when able.

Update 19/07/19. Having used the camera for 2 weeks, mastered the various settings the results are excellent both day and night, even with a WiFi signal strength of only -80 dBm

The camera is set up on WiFi and have used the IeGeek recommended software :-

Direct camera access menu is via its IP address both on my Phone/tablet (Android) and Microsoft Edge with Windows 10, it will ask to allow “Adobe Flash”, allow once and then the camera can be viewed. The setting are easy to follow.

CamHi is used on my tablet and phone and again the settings are user friendly and gave me all the control I needed, see note below for the FTP server.

HiP2P is used on my Windows 10 PC which is OK but a little more difficult to use but by trial and error got all the results needed and works OK, again see note below for the FTP server.

Note:- I needed to get remote access to the camera video and stored video/alarms on the SD card and thought I needed to set up a FTP server but I have discovered using the installed CamHi on my phone when connected to any WiFi access away from home the Camera and SD card can be viewed the same as being on my home LAN network. It works but I don’t quite understand how!

The IeGeek Updated outdoor Security camera 1080p summary.
    Robust and well made.
Good picture quality both day and night.
Easy access to add a Micro SD card.
    Good basic setting up instructions.
To get the best from this camera the settings Menu’s need understanding and there is a lot of help both online and on the supplied CD, its not difficult and I’m an 80 year old!
Excellent to receive an Email offering help from IeGeek. (Not needed yet!)
Highly Recommended very good value, will certainly be getting another one when able.

An excellent IP 1080 camers for the price.

Picture excellent when set to HD, I like the on iPad screen zoom in function. Set up, follow the booklet enclosed with the device not the CD version, booklet easier to understand and make sure to use the supplied ethernet cable for the first set up; then switch to wifi after. Very flexible mounting bracket allows for all angles and heights of installation with 3 simple adjustments. Still playing with it will add more later.

This is a great camera, found it easy to set up and the motion detection works well. Much better than my 3 years older 720p camera. Found the WiFi to be strong, notifications come through quickly and lots of options for customisation.

Can’t go wrong at this price, and much prefer this compared to some of the bigger names which lock you in with a monthly subscription which is not needed for this camera.

This was bought to ‘watch’ my car as it has been painted and scratched twice recently. A cheaper make was bought first https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07CXD4RLG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=which that ‘ate’ the SD card, obviously couldn’t record and was returned.
This camera was bought as a replacement.
Once the software was found, downloaded and installed , no CD came with the camera kit, this camera has as good an image that 2Mp can provide. For home CCTV the image is more than adequate.
For me the test of a good company is the support.when things don’t work.
Initially I could not get sound on the iPhone or my PC. A query was responded to in a matter of hours, as were all emails. The camera was tested remotely and a video file sent confirming that it was working properly, which it was and now is on all devices. Maybe it was just me ! But the support was readily available, provided quickly and pleasantly and all is good.

The company and camera are both commended and recommended.

Purchased this camera last week and installed on Saturday. The camera is small but well built. It was easy to install and the set up was straightforward. The video and picture quality is excellent and set up of the software was very straight
forward via the Android App. Installed this camera to replace existing camera purchased in Maplin some time ago, and the picture quality and software is far superior with IeGeek.
I had a problem setting up my gmail notification email because of google two stage notification. Contacted IeGeek and had prompt reply with precise instruction which solved the problem.
The camera seems robust and depending on how it continues to perform I would buy this camera again.

    Very impressed with this camera.
Although I am no expert (this is my first camera) – very easy to set up and install.
Picture quality is great as is night vision however had to do a bit of research into alot of settings to get the best picture.

There is an extension cable available for power if needed.
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07FMKX2CN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    Bur didnt need it myself.

I installed an IP66 box (from screwfix) on the wall to house the 3 cables from the camera and fed the power to that through a vent in the wall.

Using the Camhi app on android phone but set up mainlt using the IPCAMERA app which I found after some digging on igeek website. This only runs on internet explorer. – Igeek should really make this part of the installation clearer and more accessable as that app(?) allows you to set up upto 4 motion zones.

Also use the HiP2P client sometimes but not too sure how that one works and again there is not much info available.

Altogether very please. If Igeek ever release a dome camera will definately give it a look when I am ready to upgrade.

The picture quality is very good even through the double glazing, looking at the recorded video I am getting glare off the glass but that is all down to the position of the camera, I would recommend this camera to others and will be buying another for my own house.

Overall a good well built product, could do with the aerial repositioning when mounting on a wall looking down and to the left as it clashes with the bracket.
Like I said, I had doubts originally, but after a few week I am quite impressed. Technical support is amazing from the ieGeek staff of course with delays as they are at the other side of the world.
One issue that you need to be aware of is if your iPhone is set to a 12hour clock, when it displays the recordings to you, its cant work out AM or PM, so switch your phone to 24hour mode and all is OK.
Just remember that the default setting in the camera is with a fixed password of admin, so once you are happy, set it with a new password, then delete your camera from the app and re-add it with the new password
Not the simplest of things to master, especially motion detection as moths and flies set it off

For the price this camera is surprisingly competent. I’ve had it running for a few months and the wifi has been rock solid whilst streaming to a server for recording. Motion detection is very sensitive but this has been the case with all software I’ve tried that analyses for motion frame by frame. Build quality feels good, the onboard web interface is a bit basic but does everything required. I upgraded the firmware to the version on the iegeek website and that gives you the option to disable access to servers in China if you want to manage all your recording locally. Whether it is genuinely disabling is another thing 🙂 but all in all can’t complain. Very wide angle so gets really good coverage of the area as well.

So, this camera says it’s normally listed for about 200. Playing around with it, I can see that it’s at least as, or perhaps slightly more functional than the IP cameras we have at work, and they cost way more than 200 because they’re “enterprise grade”.

The video quality during the day is excellent. Even in dim light, the colours are sharp, the image is stable and sharp, and the focus is excellent. At night, once the inbuilt IR-LEDs kick in the picture remains sharp, albeit in black and white, and with a little playing with the balance and contrast you can get a pretty decent image all day long.

The camera is wireless, yes, but still needs power. That power is in the form of a 12v cable with a standard 5.5mm plug. However that cable splits into three, presenting a tubular inline RJ45 port (with weather-seal) and a reset button. This means that you’ll have a hard time drilling a hole from the camera into your property to feed the cable inside, you’re going to need to route the cable into a junction box on an exterior wall and take a cable inside from there. Unfortunately the RJ45 port is about 0.25mm too wide to fit into the hole in the bottom of a standard external weatherproof electrical junction box, and you’ll never get it through the water-barrier gromet, so you’ll need to use something like a glue gun or a rubber cable gromet to keep the joint nice and dry.

The 12v/1a adaptor that’s shipped with the camera has a relatively long cable, 2 to 3m, but when you stretch it all out, the camera can only be about 3 to 4m from the plug socket, which means you’ll probably have to do something different regarding power. On Amazon there are a number of “12v transformers” which feature lighting and security cameras as their typical uses. I grabbed a relatively inexpensive one of those, and used some cable cutters to move the plug from the pre-packaged transformer over to the more convenient small camera transformer that can sit inside the junction box. Then, you just need to run a standard 240v mains cable into the junction box, which is far easier through a drilled hole. If you already have security lighting up, you can easily just bung the transformer into the existing junction box or use some junction strip to take a tail off the security light’s feed.

Orienting the camera is a little tricky in some cases. The armature that it comes mounted on has two proper swivel points, but suffers from gimbal lock, requiring you to rotate the camera on the stalk to achieve the third (roll), in order to orient the camera horizontally whenever mounted pointing at an angle to the wall it’s on. This rotation makes the camera unscrew slightly, and it becomes wobbly. In high wind this triggers the motion sensor all the time, so I used a dab of hot glue to keep it from wobbling.

I connected the camera up using the recommended CamHi app. It’s functional, and works pretty well for two-way chatting and monitoring. I also hooked it up to a Synology NAS Surveillance Station using its ONVIF capabilities. This works amazingly well, and it was very simple to get it set up. You can use both DS Cam and CamHi at the same time, as they use different services on the camera.

The camera has a load of different triggers, zones, settings, levels and all sorts of interesting features to notify you of movement, take videos, and send them. For the 60 I got it for, the camera is surprisingly capable!

The wifi connectivity is fairly good. The antenna is nice and long, and I’ve had some dropouts because I live in an old farmhouse with thick walls, but it tends to get a better reception than most other devices.

All in all, it’s a very functional camera with many excellent features. It’s only really let down by the need for an external transformer, that triple-headed cable with the fat RJ45 socket, and the wobbly stalk when you rotate the camera to orient it flat. Also, the IR-LEDs cast a very well-defined cone directly in front of the camera, leading to the sides being dark in night-vision. This can be (mostly) compensated for, but it would have been nice if the coverage was a little more even across the field.

In all other respects, it’s an excellent camera.

Omg this is exactly what I needed, my Yi Cam failed after a few months and killed my sd card too, amazon refused to refund the high endurance 6 month old card with a few years warranty, ready for this, because I had my use out of it! Forget UK law! Anyway this camera is awesome, the audio is amazing and I really like the app now I got it set up. Building a wind muffler for the mic now. Mines on continuous record. Its not missed a beat. Very happy.

We purchased this camera to replace a much more expensive one that we had had for a couple of years but which did not seem to hold a WiFi signal any more. We were slightly dubious that this camera, that was about half the price of our original (possibly less) , would be any good but it IS! The picture quality and sound quality (it has two way audio which we wanted) is BETTER than our previous camera and, so far, it has not lost the WiFi signal at all. I work quite a distance from our house and I have been able to watch what is going on at home clearly since I installed this. My only one small gripe is that the supplied manual is not up to much but I was able to install it without too much problem regardless.

Camera delivered by expected date, very easy to set up using Ethernet cable but found it a little bit more awkward to covert to WiFi signal. Also discovered that if WiFi signal is weak camera will not connect. Motion detection also is a bit difficult to adjust to the correct sensitivity and am still getting random alerts even after dropping the sensitivity level.
However, after saying that I think this camera is good value for money and would consider another if required.

Easy to set up. Records 24/7 to SD card which I can view on phone. Picture quality is very good. Easy to set area for motion detection. Feels good quality. Picks up sound very well. Because it is continuously recording I am confident that it will catch anything I need saved. Iris also easy to download anything I want saved to the phone permanently.

Bought this Camera after looking at several other ones on the market. I was surprised how easy it was to set up, it took about 10mins. The app works great and I can view on my phone anytime and anywhere. The only problem I had was getting the time zone sorted, but after a short message to the manufacturer it was resolved in no time. Overall for the price I think its a great product for the price.

Despite the offer of a free SD card I wasn’t prepared to rate this camera until I had mounted and tested it. I’ve now done that and am very impressed indeed. Both LAN and WiFi connection was simple and despite the instructions being a bit rudimentary it all worked 1st time. Both the App and PC Software work just fine.
You need a 20mm hole to mount the camera to get the LAN connection lead through but if just using WiFi you could consider cutting the LAN connection off leaving just the Reset and Power leads which would fit through 10mm. The alarm and sensitivity are all good, but I did consider that the SD recording on alarm activation of 14 secs was too short and there was no option to increase that, however I’ve now discovered that if there is still movement after the 14secs it records another 14secs and continues to do so until the movement stops, all very clever. The night vision is also impressive but I’ve had a lot of false negatives from flying insects perhaps attracted by the infrared lights.
The camera seems robust but I have it under a porch so no exposure to the elements or even rain. All in all I definitely recommend it and the price is good.

Out of the box this is easy to get connected and working. It’s a little more difficult negotiating the instructions to set up the alarm with motion recording without it recording every movement or email pictures constantly. I’ve not been able to set up FTE sharing, but that’s due to a windows firewall problem and my PC. It’s not in it’s final location yet and i think mounting it with the cables might be difficult…

Fast delivery. Well packaged. Well built. Good value.
Comes with mounting bracket, cables, power supply and instructions. For initial set up, just follow the instructions supplied. Sit the camera near your router. Plug the camera into the router (with the supplied lead), load the app onto your phone and it is up an running. Once the Wifi is selected and the password has been entered, you can remove the cable from the router, reboot the camera and you can get underway via WiFi.
My router is in the house house and I wanted the camera down the bottom of the garden (20 metres away). It works just fine over that range. For video capture you will need a micro SD card (not supplied). They recommend 64GB. The detection area can be set, plus the alarm threshold level. It can send an alert to your phone (a call or email) and you can save the pictures or videos on your phone. I’ve not tried to link it to my PC, although it has the capability.

Golden Review Award: 49 From Our UsersAfter searching around a bit for a small 1080p IP camera, I came across the ieGeek camera. The reviews looked pretty solid, so it was worth a try for the small outlay.
I have a number of cameras set up across my home, so I have some experience of the good and the bad points of each different type.

Before I even received the package, I had an email from the ieGeek customer services team with some tips about how to connect, what software to use etc. This is a nice touch.

    Whats in the box?
    1080p Camera,
    A separate +5dbi aerial
    A (aluminium?) mounting bracket.
    1.5m RJ45 cable
    Power adaptor
User manual & wifi connection instructions leaflet (both written in Chinglish unfortunately)
Bag of screws, rawl plugs & allen key (for the grub screws on the bracket).
Unlabelled mini CD, with various PC & phone apps, user manual & FAQs

The unit itself is quite small, and can be installed fairly discretely. The bracket allows for quite a bit of range of adjustment. I’ve got it mounted near to my gates, which are about 15 metres away from the nearest wireless AP. The camera has an external +5dbi aerial, so I’m not seeing too many wifi dropouts via the video recordings on my NVR.

One BIG plus, is the power adaptor is very neat and compact – so much so that it fits underneath the cover of a BG 2Gang external weatherproof socket! Bonus, as it made my install much easier! (it wouldn’t quite fit under a LAG weatherproof socket cover though) It also has a power lead that is about 3m long – which also helped to make the installation quicker & simpler.

The fixed lead, which is about 2 metres long splits into a RJ45 connector (semi waterproofed), 2.1mm barrel socket for the power, and a reset button with a small semi waterproof cap over it. I’d suggest to hide these away under a cover or in a small enclosure to make sure they don’t get much exposure to rain etc as they don’t look 100% effective in my opinion.

I set up the camera before installing outside (thankfully). The supplied software is a bit hit & miss, and the android app isn’t all that much better. After a little trial and error I managed to get the camera connected via RJ45, and then transferred onto the wireless network (not sure how I managed it, or if i’d be able to do it again, but it’s stayed connected OK since). I’ve not bothered with motion detection or the other functions on the camera yet.

I also connected it via my NVR, which was much less painful as the ONVIF implementation is pretty good. I use the NVR application to view all my cameras when away from home, so can’t comment on how good or stable the images are via the app.
There’s also a microSD card slot on the bottom of the camera body – I haven’t used this yet, but it looks robust and weatherproof enough to be OK.

    Verdict in use:

Daytime: The camera image is pretty good, and images are clear. They are good enough to see lots of fairly small details. There is a slight ‘fish eye’ to the images, probably around a 14mm lens equivalent if it were on a 35mm camera.

Night time: There is a little vignetting and reflection around the edges (not sure why it doesn’t appear so noticeable in the day), but the camera copes remarkably well with different bright and dark areas of the image – much better than some other cameras I’ve used previously. FPS is a lot slower at night, so it can’t capture quite as much detail eg passing cars have trailing lights etc and aren’t 100% recognisable, but its still sufficient for its main task of keeping an eye on my gates.

The camera outputs 2 streams via ONVIF, a 1080p and a lower 640×352. Connection speeds vary between 500kbs and 3000kbs dependent upon how much movement there is in the image.

Overall, I’m happy with the camera unit. If the software and CamHi App were better it would be a no-brainer at this price – though I can see a lot of people struggling to get it set up and maybe giving up on it. As it is, even with the clunky software it meets my needs.

Small & Robust, but problematic software. Compact power adapto

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI have had this camera installed for four months now. It has worked perfectly through the winter, consistently delivering clear high definition pictures and video.

Unboxing, the quality and attention to detail is immediately apparent. The user guide is in good English, unlike some other items made in China.

Setup is straightforward. The camera needs to be connected to a mains power supply. It can be connected to your Internet either by ethernet cable or by WiFi. There is supplied a short connecting lead – one end goes to the camera and the lead then splits into three. One is for power, the second is for ethernet and the third is a reset button. Before mounting the camera be aware that you will need to reach a power supply. This might entail drilling a hole in a wall, or the surround of a window for example. Note – it is easier to push a power cable and an ethernet cable out to reach the camera’s connectors, than to try to get them into the interior of a building. Be sure to seal any holes with waterproof mastic. A cheap plastic waterproof junction box screwed to the outside wall takes care of protecting the connections.

I tested the WiFi before fixing the camera to an outside wall and it worked fine, but I decided to connect it via an ethernet cable. That could be a problem if you want the camera a long way from your router. Rather than lay a long length of ethernet cable I used my TP-Link setup. This uses the mains electricity circuit to transmit Internet traffic. A master unit is plugged in to a mains socket near the router, and connected to the router with a short ethernet cable. Other secondary repeater units can be then plugged into any mains circuit socket and paired with the master unit. The secondary unit transmits WiFi to your device, be it a camera, computer, tablet or smartphone. I ran a short ethernet cable from a secondary unit to the camera though, rather than use the WiFi.

A tip – it is a good idea to connect the camera before fixing it in its position. That way you can see everything is working. You can also set up the software needed so you can view the camera’s output on your smartphone, computer or tablet. Software is provided, is simple, and works well. You can also use other software such as Zone Alarm, but you will need a decent level of IT expertise to do this.

The camera can be used just to monitor an area, in real time, but for true security you need to have it record. Clearly, it would not be sensible to have it record 24/7 as the data output would be huge, and would need high capacity storage such as a dedicated (and expensive) recorder or a big hard drive. The solution is to set the camera up to record only when it detects movement. It does this very well, with its infrared sensors. Most security cameras do this rather too well – they detect changes in light and reflections, birds, insects, moths, etc. Happily, you can set zones to restrict the motion detection to specified areas.

Recording is best directed to a HD or memory stick connected to your router. It is up to you how many day’s worth you set it to record before allowing it to overwrite.

The camera can be set so as to send email alerts to your smartphone, and you can view the camera’s output in real time. Thus, for example the camera can alert you when you are away and someone comes to your door – a delivery driver perhaps. With this camera you have two-way audio, so you can hear the person and speak to them.

In summary, this camera is of excellent quality, is great value for money and provides high definition pictures and video. If you can get to grips with Zone Alarm software then you will have near professional level security with one or more of these camera.

Picture quality excellent both day and night, WiFi reception brilliant, mine is working 25 mtr away from box. What I didn’t like was all the extra wires which meant the hole through the wall have to to quite large and the surplus had to go into a junction box. The motion sensor is a bit too sensitive when it rains it goes off all the time. But for the money it’s great value and after three months still working brillo

The quality of the camera for the price is excellent, night vision is brilliant, and the picture is incredible.
The bracket it comes with is designed for soffit mounting or ceiling mounting.

I choose this camera because of its interface with synology which it does easily. The picture quality is excellent. The camera is quite easy to install a 22mm hole is required in any brick work if installing on a outside wall. The only issue I have is the angle of detection is quite small I feel if the camera extended further from the surface it is fixed to the detection angle may be improved. On saying that I am about to purchase a second camera so this hasn’t put me off. Also the customer service is excellent any help required is quickly answered by email.

Really easy to install and set up, its a smart looking camera which does as well as I hoped, it does everything its meant to do and stands out for its videos, I have a good speed internet connection and I am getting video with no lag at all, the screen is crystal clear and the quality of picture is very high, so far its been completely reliable and I would not give a second thought to buying again. Motion detect Could be improved as it sometimes picks up movement on a low setting, other than that it’s a very good product.

The price is so cheap it does not reflect on the quality of this product. These cameras are as good as other which are hundreds of pound more expensive. I`m so glad a few years ago I purchased my first one, since then I`ve returned numerous times and purchased a number of them over time.

    I Purchased this camera to cover my drive / car and was very easy to setup with phone app & the software for the laptop;

    PROS:
    1) Image Quality is very good with a decent Wi-Fi connection;
    2) Product feels robust;
    3) WiFi signal strength is strong;
    4) Night vision is excellent;
    5) Very easy to setup & use via the CamHi app;
    6) Sound audio is excellent on Wi-Fi connection but can be tempromental with a 4g connection (depends on signal strength)

    CONS;
    1) Can be tempromental on 4g data but this all depends on your signal strength / location etc.

This is a competitive market, right? You’re concerned that the quality might be poor, right? Rest assured that the night and day light images are of very high quality. The UI is functionally rich and tailorable. E.g. Setting of alarms based on target zones, push mail alerts. I had wired mine as the wifi does rely on a signal strength above 70% and there’s a risk of too many device sharing the waves. The quality of the camera feels good and lots of adjustment to get that perfect angle. You will not be disappointed .

I bought this camera because it does FTP backup (3 images + a 14 second clip). The WiFi signal is great. I struggled to setup the WiFi via the app, but managed to do so over ethernet. Picture is good, and the IR nightvision range is good and the IR cutover is very, very quick.

We have them running with WiFi, so just have them plugged into power. The power cables are long. We had to drill a 35mm hole for the cable rig to go through – similar for most cameras of this type.

You can set the motion sensor area and sensitivity. I get a LOT of activations, though, partly because down the side of the house the motion sensor area is triggered every time a car goes past and its headlights shine in the motion sensor area. I’ve not docked a star as it could be different for your setup. To avoid this, it would have been good if the camera had heat sensors, too, but not something I’d expect at this price.

In order to set up the camera you will need to connect to it with a LAN cable for the preliminary setup in order to get an ip address. After establishing an ip address is a simple task to remove the LAN cable and proceed to configure for a wireless connection if this is the preferred option. The windows and android apps work without any problems but some documentation for the settings in the windows app would be useful. The only real stumbling block experienced was to determine the HTTP port (8080) used when connecting to my Synology NAS. If you are just using the provided apps then there is no problem. All in all a good camera that works perfectly. I have installed 2 cameras, both using WiFi, covering the back and front of my property without any problems. I have not tested the alerts functions as these are provided by my NAS.

In summary a good camera and easy to configure and set up.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m not an IT expert, but I found it quite easy to get the camera operating. I spent a day playing with the controls and settings before putting it up outside – it now works like a dream! The 2-way audio is excellent too. Now I’ve just got to figure out how to send the video recordings via email, and I will be well pleased! Will be adding another camera soon.
4.0 out of 5 starsGreat little camera!!

    Update!
I have now added another 2 cameras to my first one! All 3 work perfectly and I can access them from anywhere using the CamHi app on my mobile. I had a slight issue with the recording times reverting to Asia time (8 hours ahead!) , but, with excellent customer care/advice, soon (it took 2 mins!) converted them to good old GMT! Would now like to upgrade my previous rating of this product to 5* !

bought 2 of these cameras and were easy to install, using them via wifi and my wifi is not the best but the cameras work perfect i get instant notifications when some one enters the view, the ability to set how sensitive and the distance of the motion is superb. would recommend these to any 1 and i cant fault anything yet, easy to install easy to set up and the app is easy to use aswell once its connected you can download the app and view on other phones. the picture quality is very good aswell, even in the night. and having the ability to do 2 way audio you cant fault this camera.

Well made unit with plenty of cable and quality fittings delivered. Very easy to install app and connect following the clear instructions. Fitted outside to protect our drive and cars and the picture is great both day and night. Took a couple of days to set the area and sensitivity based on our own installation but easy to do and now get great videos of any alarms. Very flexible app for both Android and Laptop means we can keep a close eye on it. Great product and pleased with our choice from the wide number of cameras on offer – I would definitely buy from again for future cameras.

Really pleased with the quality of the product for the price paid on Amazon Black Friday sale. Can’t complain to much about anything other than the pigeon English instructions, fortunately I’ve got another cctv system so it was similar to setup. The picture quality, night and day is clear and HD unlike my older cameras, you can also zoom in really close with the software on this one. I also like the two way audio, it records audio and lets you speak to intruder, delivery person etc. The WiFi connection is also very handy, my other cabled system was a pain to install, hate crawling about attics etc. My only niggle was with setting up my Email alert, took me a few tries to get my details entered correctly. Would defo recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to by another one, which I might do for my daughters house.

First off, I bought this based on just the Amazon reviews after having several Swann cameras. The camera was no more difficult to set up than most, but after a couple of failed attempts using the app, I went for the trusted network cable to get it set-up quickly. Once installed I was genuinely surprised that the app allows it to be accessed remotely – without registering an account. Although this is a bonus it also makes me a little wary of security – something I’ve yet to find any good information on.
The picture is good, features are plenty and it also has an onboard MicroSD too. Signal seems pretty reliable so only had a couple of times where I had to wait a minute or two to connect. Clip length is 15 seconds and doesn’t pre-record from activation so tends not to be great for small areas, as the action has usually already occurred and only caught halfway through. However, that’s my only real big criticism. Maybe they could improve this and allow longer clips as it’s more a software thing. Typically rain seems to trigger this at night a lot so you end up with a lot of activations… so you are likely to switch off notifications at night.
CamHi App seems pretty good, albeit a little clunky. Not sure if other apps will work with it as the instructions seems a little sparse. Sadly I’ve not figured out how to link to I-Videon account, along with my other cameras… but it’s not the end of the world.
Camera FPS and such is good, but not great. Maybe it’s because I’m on a Wi-Fi extender so it tends to streak and drop with quick movements. That said I’ve not played about with this a great deal or tried playing straight from the MicroSD card, so I’ll reserve judgment on that.
Oh, one thing I did find slightly annoying was that mounting arm. I just happened to want to mount it in such a way that it interferes with antennae mount position – so it’s ever so slightly skewed. It’s also very fiddly to tighten the adjustment screws… especially up a ladder at night in the cold!
All said it’s got really good picture quality and great IR ability, and the build quality is good. For the price, it’s a neat little unit and I’m happy with the purchase.
Be aware seller isn’t VAT eligible.

Was quite easy to set up but instructions are not that easy to understand. Camera works well picture quality is good. It does seem to trigger alarms when there isnt any visible movement and like other reviews would like option to pan left or right. On the whole it does what we wanted it to do enables us to monitor property from wherever we are

The camera itself is built very well. The image quality is clear and can be switched between SD and HD quality. Mobile app works well and easy to use. Can have alerts sent to your phone, record footage to an SD card and then view the footage from your phone.

WiFi is not perfect but works. The quality suffers a little becoming less sharp and more blocky. There is also noticeable lag while using WiFi and sometimes you can skip a few seconds until it catches back up. Highly recommend using an Ethernet cable for connection over WiFi unless an absolute must.

Easy to setup using external programs such as iSpy for more advanced motion detection recording and storing.

Golden Review Award: 37 From Our UsersI bought the 1080 version.

    Points to bear in mind:
    Cons:
    1. This Camera uses the old Active X which has been redacted from modern browsers such as Edge, Firefox and Chrome. It only works with the old Internet Explorer for setup on a PC. You can use Chrome IE extensions. But a bit of a faff really.
    2. The “free” popular open source surveillance applications do not recognise this camera. It is not in their list of supported devices. I have not found one that sees it at all. iSpy, IPcameraviewer, ContaCam etc do not.

    Pros:
    1. Once setup the picture quality is good and the night vision is good too.
    2. The alarm system and motion detect works well.

    Conclusion
A good quality cheap camera. Do check for software compatibility to avoid disappointment.

Recently bought (and returned) a Y1 camera because it only appeared to provide P2P connection so couldn’t access it via my iSpy software or web browser. This one, however, provides everything you might need – http, ONVIF, rtsp, P2P etc. Mounted fairly unobtrusively to cover front door visitors and includes 2-way communication – excellent. Build quality much better than the Wansview I already have (the positioning screws are socket caps rather than grub screws) and the upgraded antenna picked up my wifi with no problems whatsoever. In all, a great little camera – would definitely buy another.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI really cannot fault this camera for the price and thoroughly recommend that you seriously consider buying if you are in the market for one. I am very pleased with the camera. It performs well with good, clear images. the playback images are excellent as is the night-time pictures. A brilliant device. The camera is very robust and the kit comes with everything needed to fit the camera.
Congratulations to the manufacturer for addressing a problem on earlier versions of this camera in which you had to disassemble the camera to fit the SD card. Now you simply undo one external screw and slip the card in.
I’d also seen reports of the camera losing wireless connectivity. I’ve not experienced any problem here. I suspect that those people experiencing that problem are using the camera at the extreme of the camera range. This can be easily fixed by adding a wireless extender or adding a powerline AV adapter and connect using an ethernet cable.
The recorded video is superb, both day and night, and the ease of finding ‘alarm’ events make it easy to record.
I use mine in conjunction with a Synology NAS which gives it extended features as well.
Well worth the money. Well done ieGeek !!

Great value for money. The most difficult bit for me was establishing a WiFi connection with the camera. In the end, I had to set up a separate network, which I set to 2.4Ghz/WPA2. All good now though. Slight delay when connecting, but I can live with it. The picture is fantastic when set to HD. The night vision is excellent too. All in all, I’m very happy and will be adding further cameras to my system. Part of the still in setting up a good security system is positioning the cameras in the right place. My tip would be to think carefully about this before installing. Definitely recommend as a buy.

Fantastic seller, very professional and they answered all my questions in a few minutes, advised about specs and which camera will work best with what I had already. Just perfect. This is a solidly built camera with a nice feel. The picture quality is good and navigating the app is relatively straightforward. An earlier camera I received was faulty. A day exposed to rain caused water to seep into the camera’s innards and caused it to rust and turned it into a solidly built brick! I have now got a replacement (thank you!) and installed it and it is working fine.

This camera is brilliant. Quality build and easy to install.Wonderful picture recording. I purchased this on my sons reccomendation and I’m highly pleased with it. The only issue I’ve had with it is the built in alarm. It works perfectly but as its outside and catches every movement , plants blowing, spiders etc my neighbours have complained about the noise and I’ve had to turn it off so I don’t know when anyone is there until I run through all the videos. If a separate wireless alarm could be paired to the camera and sited in the house it would be perfect.
I’m going to order another one for inside the house to compensate but I cannot detract from the fact this is a fabulous product at a great price.

Picture clarity is very good and love the alarm which can be activated to sound like a barking dog! I only gave it 4 stars for ‘easy to install’ which is perhaps unfair and not quite correct as the installation of it isn’t difficult but I struggled with the setting up of it not being very IT minded but the service and help I received from Herman was second to none. They were excellent and certainly went the extra mile – I cannot thank them enough. It’s a pity more companies don’t give the same help after having purchased their product. Set was easy once you plugged it directly into your router to configure. Setting up the email notification was a bit more difficult because you have to use email that uses SSL so can’t use hotmail but can use Gmail. Instructions a little basic – no guidance on what changes to video setting would have. No guidance of physical fitting and how to use the waterproof Gromit – the cables don’t pass thru it as its too small. For the money I think these are minor short coming and I would recommend the camera to others. Too early to comment of stability of connection but wireless range is very good.

When trying to set up the camera, I keep getting the message ‘Tips – Do you hear the sound’ to which the answer is no. I then get another message saying ‘Warning – Please press the reset key for 10 seconds’.

If I press the reset button before clicking OK from the previous message, it makes a sound, but then when I press the OK button it just goes around in an endless loop.

If I press the reset button after clicking the OK button, it goes through the motions of setting up a wireless connection, but once completed, the camera is no longer available, and the only option available is to ‘Add Camera’.

This is a bit bizarre, can anyone help with this?

Otherwise, I am going to have to return the devices.

Managed to figure it out. There’s a tick that needs to be pressed once network setup has finished.

Simple to set up, fit and forget, decent picture. Motion detect takes a little understanding, its not a PIR, it detects changes in the picture, so dont expect it to work like a PIR, had no problem with this or the other 2 of these I have bought
Edit – I have since bought 3 more of these, so in total I have 4 x 1080p and 2 x 960p. These all work consistently well, and were all delivered quickly, simple to set up, and all work reliably.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI must say that this is a nice bit of kit. After I downloaded the associated app, it was very easy to setup and add the camera. The picture quality, both during the day and at night is excellent. Being able to remote monitor visitors and have a push notification sent to my phone when the motion sensor is triggered is particularly useful as is receiving snapshots of the visitor by email, one drawback of the motion sensor is that its pretty difficult to get a happy balance between false & true alarms and a drawback on the nightvision is that the camera does not have passive IR, in nightvision mode there is a ring of visible red lights around the camera’s lens. The app, on the whole is very easy to navigate, with very little drop of connection between the app and camera. I particularly like the additional ability to add multiple cameras to both the app and, the HiP 2P PC software, which I use for 24 hour recording direct to my laptop hard drive. The HiP 2P software has a lot more flexibility with more precise control over camera settings and is reasonably easy to navigate. It also has the ability to display all camera feeds in a split screen format, however, the drawback of the software is that if the PClaptop is switched off or goes into hibernationsleep mode then it will no longer record any footage except through the app.

All in all, however, the camera is very functional and user friendly and well worth the money. I’ll definitely be adding more cameras to my system.

During the day the camera works a treat, in fact i’m very impressed. However in my case at night its not so good due to the amount of flying insects, on last test it activated 149 times between 19.36 and 06.03 (sunset – sunrise), This due entirely to my home location which is adjacent a brook, the flying insects attracted by the IR lights actually trigger the motion detection.
That said the build is good, sets up easy and the manufacturers who are very attentive to getting it right are working to overcome my particular issues.

    2) Product feels robust
    3) WiFi signal strength is good
    4) Night-time mode (IR illumination) is good (easy 15m range on my driveway)

    6) Works well with CamHi ‘phone app, allowing to view live feed via Internet.
    7) Excellent email support.
    8) Discount at checkout meant product cost me significantly less than was advertised

    CONS;
    1) Tricky network installation, especially on WiFi network – instructions need improvement.
    2) Need a CD reader to use the setup software

    MORE DETAIL

    DAY 1
I received the camera today. The product looks robust and well made. There is one cable entering the back of the camera, which splits into 3 connections: power, Ethernet & a rest button.

PTZ: Mechanical tilt & swivel adjustments are provided when fixing the camera but no tilt, so the camera always points perpendicular from the fixing surface. This camera doesn’t offer any motorised Pan Tilt or Zoom functions.

While I consider myself to be reasonably computer literate I admit that I am no expert on networks or digging around with network settings. I decided to attempt to first get the camera working by laying everything out right by the modem/router. I obviously didn’t want to do the drilling and fixing until I’d proved it was compatible with my network and NAS.

Despite almost no usable instructions, just using my limited common sense it didn’t take me too long to connect the camera to Synology Surveillance Station using the power and LAN patch cable (supplied). This camera is not on Synology’s list of supported cameras so this proves that the generic ONVIF interface works well. The picture looks good and Surveillance Station seemed happy. So far so good.

But I need Surveillance Station to connect to the camera via WiFi. I can’t route a LAN cable to the intended mounting point. So I spent about an hour failing on the website. Everything I tried at this point failed to make the camera visible on my network via WiFi. At this point I decided to ‘invest’ no more time without help.

I emailed the manufacturer for support. I will update this review if the situation changes.

    DAY 2: following day:

I borrowed a laptop with a CD reader in order to examine the supplied mini-CDR. Sure enough this contained Windows software (called P2P Client), which after some head scratching allowed me to setup the camera using my WiFi. It does appear to work well on WiFi but, probably due to my installation, I have found it more reliable using a wired Ethernet connection.

Using Synology Surveillance Manager I configured in HD. The picture quality is very good.

Easy to fix to wall but for outdoor installation, unless you have a convenient outdoor waterproof socket large enough to accommodate the transformer, you still need to drill a hole through your wall to power the camera.

I received excellent email help from the manufacturer/seller. Just be aware that this help is only available during Far East working hours.

I have no connection with the manufacturer or the seller but this is a good product for the price.
