I have bought and tried a large selection of headphones over the few years, these have varied from end headphones between 400-500 to budget headphones below 100, and I can say that the Jabra 85h are the best value headphones I have ever owned.

The Jabra 85H offer high end specs at a mid level price They are impressive from the moment they come out the box, they are visually really attractive, they look and feel incredibly premium and are more than on par with other brands which cost twice as much.

They are soft and incredibly comfortable to wear and can be worn for hours without them becoming in any way uncomfortable Now the most important thing is the sound quality, I found the 85h to have a very balanced sound, with great uploads and lowers, and most importantly for me they have got the base levels just right, unlike other brands that like to over emphasise the bass, Jabra have got these just perfect.

And finally the star of the show for me is the noise cancellation, on some devices this can often be just a gimmick that doesn’t really work, but this is far from the case with the Jabra 85h, the ANC in these is nothing short of outstanding.

Jabra are renowned for their business headsets (which I also use) and they have taken all the great things from those and build a fantastic over the ear headphone experience in the Jabra 85h.

Decent headphones for the RRP but personally there are better noise cancelling competitors out there. They arrived in a sleek very professional looking box and sturdy looking carry case. In the case were the headphones, charging wire, manual headphone wire and a standard airplane adaptor. Setting up the headphones was easy via Bluetooth with a voice over letting you know you had connected. An additional device could be connected such as a laptop, saving you from taking the headphones off or switching devices if a call came through.

The Jabra Sound+ phone app found on Android or iPhone app stores aided the set up and is sleek and simple to use, allowing you to set up a warranty, find the location of your headphones, check for updates and change the noise type, as well as attach Alexa, Siri or Google assistant to the headphones. The app just added touch of genius setting them apart from competitors.

As for the headphones themselves, the quality of materials was next to none, arriving in a high quality faux leather bound zip case and high quality material headphones inside with fabric covered earcups. You cannot argue that they are well made headphones, and I would expect nothing less. The Scandinavians know how to build technological wonders. The operational use of the headphones was easy. To turn on the headphones, all you have to do is open them up. THIS AMAZED ME! Provided you had your Bluetooth on, they just connected seamlessly straight away, allowing you to play music, podcasts or even an audiobook. Whatever you fancied you could play it.

As for the build of the headphones, it was simple. The right earcup has the play, pause, skip back or forward and answer a call buttons whilst on the left earcup, there is a button located on the back edge that allows you to flip through:

    – Active Noise Cancellation [ANC] (For the most part amazing but I found in some scenarios (mainly out and about) I could still hear noise around me but did block MOST noise out, however this could be seen as beneficial to some users)
    – Hear Through (Can listen to your audio easily whilst still aware of all noises around you)
    – Off (Can hear everything around you, difficult to hear audio unless alone)

You can also wear these headphones in most conditions, if they get wet from the rain, not to worry, just continue listening and stick them somewhere warm when you get home such as near a radiator and they’ll be good as new in an hour. They really are weather resistant and it surprised me but its true! just maybe not wear them in torrential rain I doubt they’d survive that for extended periods of time!

Regarding the battery life, it is astonishing! Working 7-8 hours, five days a week in a noisy environment, I tended to have ANC turned on and I only had to charge them once at the end of the week!! 15 minutes got 5 hours listening time and after about 2.5 hours, you reached full charge again!! If you used them on and off you could probably go a couple of weeks without charge!

Overall I am more than happy with these noise cancelling headphones. I still wear them out and about and would definitely recommend them for anyone after some decent high quality headphones especially if you’re not wanting to pay 300+ for absolute top of the range. They give the best headphones out there a run for their money. Simple, Sturdy, and Stylish.

These are high quality, high functioning headphones. A serious bit of tech. They have a really heavy, solid heft to them. First impressions are that these are for people who like listening to music or podcasts. The build quality is great and as good as any of the other top brands. There are some clever touches. My favourite two features are auto-pausing when you take off the head phones and turning off the headphones when you rotate the ear pieces and fold away. It’s such an intuitive thing, and works so well. The app is pretty handy – and necessary. The 85h can do quite a bit, and the app is vital to make the most of it. There are four Moments (profiles to you and me) you can set up. Personal, Commute, Groups, and Extra. You can set them up for different types of audio, like spoken or blues. This makes it easy for you to switch between profiles when appropriate. They are very comfortable. I wear glasses and have wear them for around 90 minutes, twice a day, on my commute. They are very comfortable, snug, and just a joy to use. The battery is just amazing – the best I have ever used. I received them at 60% charge out of the box. I used them for a week, and they have dropped to 54% over five days of use. They have been used for 90 minutes in the morning, 90 minutes in the evening, five days a week. That 1% battery for 3 hours of use. That;s just incredible. That’s with noise cancelling on all the time, by the way. Talking about noise cancelling – its good, and works as advertised. It blocks out the sound of trains and announcements just fine. In my opinion, however, I don’t think its as good as the market leaders. The noise pass-through works as expected. Music sounds great.

Not being an expert compared to other people who write reviews all I can say is that the sound quality is great. The app you are advised to download is very helpful, plenty of settings to choose from or adjust to your liking. The standout feature would be the automatic turning off and on when wearing/taking off. Decent value for money overall.

I received the Jabra Elite 85h headphones as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review.

As someone that loves music, having the right pair of headphones to do the music justice is very important. So unboxing the Jabra Elite 85h headphones, I was a little apprehensive but also excited. I already owned three pairs of bluetooth headphones and earphones and two wired pairs.

The box looked good and robust, and when I slide the headphones out, the case looked nice and sturdy and would do an excellent job of protecting them.

The build quality was superb. A nice thick headband supported and held two strong cups with a decent solid hinge that allows them to be folded up into the case.

I then put them on charge so I could give them a long test for the first outing. Whilst charging them, I downloaded the Jabra app to my phone and paired them all up. In the box were a USB to UBS-C charger, a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack lead and a dual adapter for plugging them in on an aeroplane (or similar).

Whilst they were charging, the decision as to what to play first through then was a challenge. As someone that likes house music, I wanted a song with a great range of sounds, and a nice fat baseline to boot.

Putting them on my head for the first time, I was hugely impressed with their comfort and how much noise they blocked out (without the noise cancelling active). And as someone that wears glasses, most of the time headphones are not comfortable with a big pair of cans on. These were a pleasant surprise for their size.

The first song played did not disappoint. I was playing with the various settings to ensure I got the best sound I could out of them, and finally settled on a custom setting.

The controls are easy to use, and the sound quality was phenomenal. The battery lasts an astonishing 36hours but so far I have only used about 22 hours. The anti noise cancelling can be set to responsive so will adjust to your surroundings, which was strange at first but I now see this as a big plus and it does great filtering out the noise around you.

Call quality is really good with these, although not sure how clear I am from the other side with noise around me, but was pleasantly surprised.

The controls are easy to use, once you get used to them, but having the app makes life easier.

Overall I am really impressed with these and will certainly used them for all my travelling.

    Incredible battery with quality sound

WOW, I was extremely impressed with these headphones! The sound quality is on point, and superior to that of in-ear headphones due to the larger speakers inside these over-ear headphones, I am totally converted.

The built in assistant button that I have linked to my phone is very handy, as I can save items to my notes/shopping list, set alarms, control my smart-home devices, or add To-Dos, whilst working away or pottering around the house.

The Active Noise Cancellation was much better than I was expecting. At the gym I was unable to hear the noise of all the machines going, in the office it completely blocked out the radio that is played throughout the building, very impressed!
Likewise, the HearThrough feature came in very handy, if I was out and about in public it helped me stay aware of traffic and people around me. I actually found that with HearThrough I could hear more than if I just didn’t have the headphones on at all. As someone with mild hearing loss these have truly been pleasure to use. They are comfortable, sit nicely on the head and adjusted easily.

They automatically turn on when the headphones are turned inwards. They automatically pause the music/video when I take them off my head to speak to someone. Put them back on my head and it automatically starts playing again. They just do everything I would want a pair of headphones to do.

Battery life; This is insane how long these last, I was using them for half of my work day and the battery had gone down about 5%. I honestly think I could get casual use out of these for a whole week and still have battery leftover. Call quality is great on these, which is unusual for headphones!

The Bluetooth connects faster than any other device I have, and they stay connect for a very long distance. I use them most days at work, having them connected to my laptop whilst wondering around the building, happily ignoring needy co-workers on my travels whilst listening to an audiobook or the radio! 5 out of 5 from me, as someone who is pretty savvy with technology, I honestly was very impressed with these Elite 85h headphones, well done Jabra!

    Outstanding, just awesome!

Got in discount of like 100 very worth it at the discount and quite worth it at original price the decorative fabric on the outside of the eatphones and headstrap looks good but some dust gets in there but not bad and it blows out with a compressor battery lasts 4
Days of heavy use (7-8ish hrs a day).the way they turn on is great because you put them on and within 5ish seconds it is connected and it stays connected over a considerable distance and stays on your head well .it also has an app and a few other features that it dosent advertise overall great have had them for 2 months now

First impression was the bass and the volume both were not so powerful as I expected in comparison with jabra elite 75 for example.
After a couple of days I got used to it and I can say the overall sound quality is excellent. Although I m a bass fan, I’m still quite happy with them.
It would have been ideal to bring more of the bass and volume into them, especially when jabra already had accomplished that with the elite 75. So there’s nothing new to the manufacter.
Sadly earpods just don t fit my ears in any way, I would have been 100% happy with them 75 elite.
The rest of the features are perfect, I have no criticism to give in those areas.

    Audio:

    Me gusta:

    Gran rango inalmbrico

    No me gusta

    Diseo
    Robustos, elegantes y bien fabricados
Se pueden conectar dos dispositivos simultneos
    Gran rango inalmbrico

    Audio

This is the first noise cancelling headphones I have.
I don’t know about the others, just this. I bought it mainly because it’s call quality and it didn’t let me down here.

    +
+ on calls, your voice is clear when there is no sound around. sometimes when the environmental sound is strong, your voice will be digitised
+ there is a high quality feeling when wearing them
+ does the job, even with low volumes, you are able to hear the sound (music or call) very clear

    – nobody talks about a very annoying thing: when you wear them and walk, you hear… I don’t know… your brains shaking?! there is an extremely annoying deep sound they make in your ears for every step you take. I’ve almost have them returned for this, but going back to what?!
    – there is no support from Jabra when connecting to a computer unless you buy a Bluetooth adapter from them. While as an engineer I totally get that, as a consumer it is just inconvenient to have another small thing ready to be lost, when my laptop’s Bluetooth works just fine
    – the music sound is just average. nothing you’d expect from a 300 headphones

It’s small touches that make these the best headphones I’ve used: turning them on by picking them up, for instance, automatically pausing when you take them off, and dual connection to computer and phone at the same time. The comfort is complete and the noise cancellation is almost magical. I don’t expect to find better headphones for less than the price of a car.

For the money, you would expect these headphones to produce great sound quality and perform exceptionally well on a single charge. And that is exactly what they do. Packaged in a tough, nicely padded case, the Elite 85h headphones unfold into a comfortable, well made headset – albeit a little bulky.

The headphones have controls for volume, sound features and track management built into the sides of the cans.
These rely on feel and are very discrete buttons, which suits the overall design well. The 85h set is fairly minimalist to look at and the cans themselves are pretty big, but this obviously helps with the sound quality., which is superb. On just default settings the sound is rich and detailed. The noise cancellation works quite well and can be switched off or even set to a free-flowing mode where you can hear what is happening outside of your ‘phones via the built-in microphone. Beyond the noise cancellation, I haven’t played around with SmartSound much at all, as I haven’t worn the headphones out and about very often, plus I’ve got on very well without playing around with settings much so far.

The microphone is discreet and works perfectly well on phone calls and in use to control Alexa or whatever your preferring voice assistant may be. Set-up is very simple, just turn on Bluetooth and the headset will quickly be connected to your phone. The wireless connectivity has been very solid so far and the sound quality is superb. A 3.5mm-jacked wire is included in the box if you need to use the headphones in a non-wireless set-up. A single charge lasts for absolutely ages, and I got a good 12 hours + from the ‘medium’ charge out of the box. The headset tells you its battery status every time you put them on.

The headphones also detect your head, so when you take them off playback stops. This is very cool and works reliably.
Folding and twisting the headphones turns them off and makes them ready to fit snugly into the case.

The build quality is very good and all of the controls and the Jabra + app are fairly simple to use. As an entire package, there is nothing to fault here. The Elite 85h is expensive (certainly compared to what I would usually expect to spend on a set of headphones) but it’s very clear you are getting what you pay for. Worth the investment.

Fabulous product. Was easy to set up and pair and a godsend on recent holidays. The fact that it pauses music the moment you take the phones off your head, then restarts when you’re ready, without a whole lot of faff finding and pressing pause on something you’ve put somewhere is such a real life help. The sound is exquisite, they’re very comfortable, intuitive and the way the phones store is so clever and so light and small – just a wonderful and very useful gadget.

Surprisingly nice balanced sound, great app with it. The battery life is incredible, I have been using them for 2 weeks and I haven’t charged them once. The Noise cancellation is largely very good apart from the odd low end noise from the tube. The hear-through function is brilliant. Comes with a great case to keep them protected and I love that i can also plug them in just in case. All in all, brilliant. The one downside is because of them being close back, It is very difficult to wear them in the summer heat.

Nice balanced sound, great App and incredible battery life.

So I’m not technologically savvy, but I think these are a very nice piece of kit. Very comfortable and easy to set up, the audio quality is superb and call reception great, pending where you are of course. I’ve worn them for several hours at a time and find them very comfortable to wear. Would definitely choose again and recommend.

Most other bluetooth headphones I’ve used have had issues to do with distortion and poor sound quality, but these are absolutely superb, as good as if not better than a set of wired headphones, with excellent reproduction and flexibility. Battery power seems to last a good long while too.

Unboxing the headphones was a nice experience. At this level you get all the accessories you would expect, hard carry case, 3.5mm airline adaptor, 3.5 mm cable for when you don’t have Bluetooth and a USB C charging cable which is too short for my liking. Upgrading the USB C cable is something I’m doing straight away.

The carry case is a decent size and doesn’t take up too much space, with the headphones folded up to keep it down in size for travelling. The case is covered in a nice leather outer and soft inner to protect the headphones. What I would like to have seen is a better compartment to store the accessories or a cover for them as they are always falling out. The overall weight is good, and this won’t impact your travel luggage or work bag too much.

The headphone style is over the ear and one of the best looking headphones I’ve ever seen. The Copper and Black styling just pops. I love the material that also covers the top of the headband and earcup sides.
These are premium and look the part. With a lightweight design made from metal and ABS with an excellent headband, it makes wearing these for extended periods a breeze without any issues. The headband has decent flexibility and plenty of adjustment with a nice level of clamping, ensuring you don’t get a headache. The earpads are trimmed in leather and filled with a very soft foam feeling awesome on the ear. The earcups are shallow, though it didn’t cause me a problem. The only issue I’ve had was in warm weather as they wrap around my ears, sealing them in which makes my ears became very warm after a couple of hours, though no different from other brands.

The right-hand earcup is where the main controls are with a button for Alexa/Google or Siri assistant depending on your device or when on a call it can be used as a mic mute. There is also a 3.5mm audio socket and a USB C port for charging.
Then you are maxing and relaxing you can control the Music/Video via the volume up button which also provides the functionality to skip to the next track or hold. There is also another button to control volume down, which also provides the functionality for selecting the previous track or hold. The final button is a multifunction button to answer and hang up calls, play and pause music or to activate Bluetooth functions.

The left-hand earcup is much simpler and has a single button which controls the Active Noise Cancelling profiles.

I was expecting some outstanding sound from these headphones provided by the 40mm drivers, but they lack in clear bass and on vocals were not as clear as I have had from other headphones at this level. The sound quality isn’t terrible, but there is room for improvement as its not as good as I would expect from a premium pair of headphones. I tried to improve this with the EQ via the App or by using other devices, but I always came to the same conclusion, they could sound better.

Again the main point of these was to have outstanding Active Noise Cancelling, and although it wasn’t terrible, I would say it was good. They need to complete at this level, and they aren’t here.

Using these for taking phone calls or skype was a breeze, and it worked floorless with a great microphone allowing people to hear me crisp and clear even in noisy environments.

Charging time was awesome and super fast with the USB C performance. It took around 2 hours to charge them fully, and you can get a decent couple of hours from around 15 mins charge time. It was good to see they have used a USB C port here rather than an older slower USB connection some still are. Overall battery life was very good and I had no issue to question the stated time.

Connecting these to my iPhone via Bluetooth was a total dream they connected without any hassle, and it was nice and straight forward. Swapping between multiple devices was also easy, and it was nice to see that they support eight so you can switch between them.

The application which I downloaded from the app store for free is simple to use but maybe a little too simple in functionally. A nice feature you don’t often see on this kind of product was the ability to track the last location of your headphones in-case you lose them. You can pick from some preset EQ settings or make your own. What was disappointing but can easily be fixed within the software is the ability to save your EQ settings or to copy them between different ANC profiles.

Overall these are a decent pair of headphones, but at this level, they do fall short in areas they shouldn’t and why I have been picky. I’ve had other products from this brand so I expect they will improve them as they can do better.

Good but a few things that could be improved

Great quality in every aspect of this headset and kind of shocked that Jabra is almost the new Sony.

Smartsound feature allows you to change your noise cancellation profile, according to the outside environment which is a nice to have but necessarily a clincher. Tried it out using the HEadphonestes list on Spotify and it coped well with every track. Its comfortable and not as heavy as my Sonys from last year, though I do miss the solid over-ear firmness that physically blocks ou the sound of the commute. Wearing it for commuting and focus tasks at work meant it lasted three days without recharging, Bass was deep but not up to the quality of Bose or Sony and it couldn’t quite catch the more delicate string solos.

It’s great but it’s fo coming at the same cost as the equivalent Sonys I usually wear so it doesn’t have an advantage in that respect. If it’s going to be a range leader it needs to get better or get cheaper because its name alone doesn’t quite cut it.

If you want headphones that do it all – the Jabra 85hs come pretty close. They are fully enclosed headphones which provide for Bluetooth or wired connection – the latter being useful for places where airplane mode is a must (e.g. on a plane…) They come with an excellent clam shell case that will protect them from the general rigors of travel – though they do then take up a little more space.

They are very comfortable – softly padded earcups fit easily around the ears and wearing them with glasses is fine. All the controls come easily to hand – left side one button for cycling through sound modes; the right side has a “voice assistant and mute button as well as an answer/end call button and a pair that serve as both volume up/down and next/previous track. The call answer button can also be used to start Bluetooth pairing.

The earphone cups can be rotated (necessary for storing in the clamshell case) – which also turns headphones on/off. A great feature is automatic pause when you take them off – as well as resume when you put them on again. They are a real pleasure to wear and use.

Having connected to my phone I downloaded the Jabra Sound+ app (iOS) which provides a fair degree of functionality accessed via your phone rather than the buttons on the headphones themselves. You can switch between the three sound modes – ANC, HearThrough or Off – the same modes which can be cycled through using the function button on the left side of the earphones. It is also possible to access voice assistants (Siri, Alexa and Google Home). I’ve been playing with Alexa and I can still turn lights on and off using the headphones. I guess the app talks to the Alexa app on my phone and goes from there. It works – requiring initiation via the right hand function button.

The app offers rather more – you can use preset sound modes (e.g. speech, smooth, bass boost, energise etc.) which adjust the equaliser which you can also adjust manually (bass, treble, mid-range). It all works very well. If you’re looking for soothing background sounds the app can do that too – ocean sounds, rain, etc.

Sound quality is really very good. The range is balanced (and can be tweaked via the app) and sound is clear. Unsurprisingly there is a perceptible difference using the different sound modes. ANC works very well – obviously it’s not going to shield you from loud and random sounds as well as more costant background noise (e.g. plane, car, running machinery) – but it does an impressive job nevertheless. HearThrough uses microphones within the speakers to “pass through” sound from outside – and it’s really effective. Don’t want to miss the train announcements or skip the in-flight commentary – HearThrough works really well. The third mode, Off, is off. Even in Off with the close fitting cups a lot of external noise is cut out. Wearing them at the gym is okay – they stay on well – although I’m not sure they would do if you are into very energetic movements as part of your workout.

In summary these are exceptionally versatile headphones that pretty much do it all. They sound great and provide a selection of modes and settings to deal with difficult sound situations. The controls are pretty standard and are easy to access. The auto pause and on/off functionality is brilliant and so simple to use. The protective clamshell case means they are protected when not in use – and has room for the 3.5mm cable, the charging cable and the supplied twin pin flight adapter.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersJabra is a brand that I have become a bit attached too in the past year, I never really knew much about them considering that they have been around for 150 years however I have stuck to brands like Bose, Beats and B&O. It was only when clearing out my office that I came across a PC headset I reviewed years ago which are a pair of Jabra and I never even realised. I currently use a pair of Jabra Elite Evolve 65t’s which are around the same price as the Elite 85h but are in ear running buds.

The Elite 85H comes beautifully packaged with instructions a couple of leaflets, a soft/hardcase, jack wires and the headphones themselves.

The headphones are very stylish and comfortable even for long periods and I would say on Par with my Bose Soundlink’s. Personally for me the sound quality is better and comes with a deeper base closer to the Beats however still retains that depth and quality sound when it comes to everyday music. I tried a few musical pieces like City of Lovers from Casino Royal and Now We Are Free from Gladiator and it provides you with such a nice crisp sound however it does lack something compared to the 450 B&O I have but this is to be expected.

The Headphones thankfully comes with a USB C charging port which always impresses me, the buttons are hidden on the right outside earpiece. There are only three hidden (up to turn volume up or hold to skip track, Down to turn down or return to start of track/ previous track and middle to turn off or on). You can pair through the app or hold down the middle button and connection is pretty quick. You also have two buttons at the bottom of each earpiece which are visible. The left will cycle through hear-through, ANC or just turn off and if you hold it down you can cycle through Smartsound options (see below). The right will activate Alexa, Siri or Google assist depending on what you have connected. To turn the headphones on or off you just need to twist the earpieces which is ca nice touch but I’m not 100% sold on this idea as well as the fact the earpieces not only twist but turn as well which is more for storage but holding the headphones and they can easily move around. The headphones will auto pause when remove and start when placed back on your head. This works well and I am impressed when compared to my B&O that sometimes switch off when I bow my head.

Hear-Through is something I am used to with my 65T’s and I find it useful when running around a built up area so I can hear people and traffic. The way that Jabra advertise this with the 85h is your surroundings, so when you are out and about you can hear people around you or if someone wants your attention verbally or you are crossing a road you can hear them without interrupting your music much. Microphones outside the headphones help this by amplifying sounds from outside much like a hearing aid. This is also used when taking calls so you can hear yourself speak and not sound muffled which can be off putting. Speaking of calls I can easily hear people when taking calls so much so that I use it when working from home to answer my work calls and the other person can hear me clearly. It’s worth pointing out that this will use more of the battery when in use.
ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) will shut off most of the noise around you which is great when you want to just listen to whatever you are playing. They also have Smartsound which is designed to adapt to your surroundings automatically. This can be manually set up via the app or by holding down the left button, there are different set ups for being in public, commute, in private or you can also personalise a custom setup.

    Positives
    + USB-C
    + Hearthrough
+ Supplied Headphone Cable so I can use it with my Switch
    + The Style
    + Premium Sound Quality
    + Comfort
    + Useful App
+ Using it to take calls
    + Siri/Alexa/Google Assist at a touch of a button
+ Hidden actual buttons for volume and skip tracks
+ Turn off when removed from the head
    + Rain proof

    Negatives
    – The way it folds to put away, I would rather have just the speakers turn in and not twist up
    – You have to really look for the R & L, it’s not as clear as some others
    – Not tight to your head so move while use in the gym (not a great deal though)

    The App (iOS and Android)

Allows you to communicate with your headphones letting you adjust settings or smart sound changing the sounds to suit your surroundings. You will also use the app to update your headset and get assistance from Jabra, and there is also a diagram showing what all the buttons do.
The app also features “Soundscape” — This will let you hear programmed sounds to listen to which be quite relaxing. These are – Pink Noise – White Noise – Ventilation Fan — Waterfall — Diving – Ocean Waves — Rainy day — Songbirds –Perfect Storm — Babbling Brook – Cavern — Crowd

I tend to use the storm when reading a book to down out my surroundings.

    Verdict
Boasting a 36 Hour battery life (in ANC only) I have fallen in love with these headphones, while the sound quality might not be up there when put against my B&O it is of a very high quality. But the headphones themselves just works, I have no issues with any of the controls, the removal works wonders when removing them from my head, they connect with no issues with my phone, they look amazing especially the copper parts. The Hear-through is a great feature which everyone should use when out and about in public. They are comfortable, well made and feel sturdy in your hands. I’m not sold on the twist and bend its like having both Bose and Beats in one and id rather the headphones only folded in. The headphone jack is a welcome addition so I can use them for my Nintendo Switch or on a plane. USB-C these days is a must and I can wear them out in the rain without worrying that I will break them.

Whilst my negative points are trivial I am more than impressed with these headphones and reward them with full marks.

Any questions you have please do ask me, I hope my review has been of some help.

Awesome headphones!! Can’t rave about these enough. The battery life is insane. I love how they switch on and connect just by opening them and putting them on. The voice assistant is really good.

Sound quality is absolutely amazing! The noise cancellation/ allow noise feature is so clever. I’ve worn them in the kitchen and the gym and not been able to hear any other noises but then running in them on the road I still hear the cars .
Also they are really comfy, don’t crush my ears at all and they barely move if I’m in the gym, even running!
    Love them

Great sound. Great quality. Excellent noise cancellation.
I drifted away from using headphones of any description quite a while ago, as I found the discomfort factor more and more irritating.
Been using this quality piece of equipment for a few days now, and truthfully, you wouldn’t know you were wearing them. Very lightweight and comfortable, and the sound is simply awesome.
Not the least inexpensive piece of ‘headwear’ you could opt for, but by far the most superior.

Utterly love these. I have always tended to use ear-buds so this was a change more me. And a welcome one. The sound quality and the features are excellent, I just love the fact they react to you taking them off to “pause” and if you make full use of the available features and take time to do the appropriate downloading and investigation of what is available.
The product description does a good job describing the array of features and it really is worth the time spent setting them up and enabling you to take your music listening to a new level.

I own several sets of headphones that I use in different situations.

For everyday commuting into London by train and underground, I have a set of Sennheiser 4.50HDNC wireless headphones. These have survived at least two years of just being thrown into my work bag and the noise cancellation is good enough to help cope with the noise of commuting to and from work every day.

For seriously listening to music, I own a set of wired Philips Fidelio X2 open back high definition headphones. For pure sonic joy, these take some beating! The pinpoint sound placement and massive sound stage make these perfect for listening to 24bit high resolution FLAC files. I can get lost for hours wearing these headphones. The open back design that gives these headphones their amazing sound also makes them not at all suitable for commuting etc. as they leak sound terribly.

For flying, I have (or rather I did have until very recently) a pair of Bose QC25s. The noise cancelling on these headphones is far superior to the Sennheisers, but they are wired and have only been used for flying. These have a typical silky-smooth Bose sound profile, but can also give you that noise cancelling “vacuum/pressure” type effect. Unfortunately, I left these on a plane a month or so ago, so I’ve been looking for a replacement.

I have used Jabra headphones at work and must admit that I would not have considered them high up my list of potential purchases as I thought they only really made business products.

This set of headphones has most definitely changed my mind about that!

Presentation is excellent! The bright, stylish and well made packaging opens to contain a really top quality carry case that reminds me a lot of the Bose QC series cases. It’s a soft feel hard case with a fully lined interior. Top marks! It is though slightly bigger than the Bose case.

Opening the case and the first impressions are again very reminiscent of my Bose QC25 — they even fold in a similar manner.

The material covering of each ear cup and the copper coloured highlights make this look a very stylish product indeed.
A closer examination and you find deeply padded ear-cups and headband, with subtle controls and a USB C charging on the right-hand cup and a single button on the bottom of the left had cup.

Picking them up and they feel solid and well made — and as soon as you swivel the ear-cups into place they turn on! This feature is something that only time will tell if I really like it or not or if I would have preferred a simple on/off switch.

The instruction booklet suggests that you download the Jabra Sound+ App and I would definitely agree with that.
When you put them on, you can hear a repeating message telling you to set up pairing, which worked first time on my P30 Pro.

My very initial impressions were a bit underwhelming. I had read reviews saying that these headphones were not very loud, and my first impression was that even with my phone turned up to maximum, they were still far from loud. Looking in the booklet and you find that the earphones also have on-board volume buttons. These are incredibly subtle — just tiny “bumps” at the top and bottom of the side of the right-side ear cup indicate the location of two multi-function buttons. Press once and the volume goes up (or down) a level, and press and hold and you can skip tracks forward or back. Once the volume had been turned up on the headphones themselves, the volume was able to reach very high volumes indeed! You would certainly not want to listen to these at maximum volume for any length of time!

The second impression was that the sound was quite flat and lifeless. It wasn’t just neutral, but just seemed dull. I had a look at the Sound+ app and found the equaliser, and was quickly able to change the profile to something I found more pleasing. I just feel they should sound better straight out of the box. I often run my new headphones through several hours of break-in sound waves and white noise, but I haven’t in this case, so may be doing them an injustice here as with many premium headphones, sound often improves dramatically after some initial break in.

I also found that there was initially a bit of a problem with deep base. It sounded clipped and actually caused some kind of resonation inside the ear cup.

The Sound+ app was telling me that there was a firmware update available, so I downloaded that and the improvement in bass was dramatic! It was much less clipped and a lot more rounded — in fact it was very good indeed! In fact, sound quality seemed to be enormously improved throughout the range!

The noise cancelling is the absolute standout feature here though — it is utterly incredible! I know that my QC25s were not the latest generation, but I was astonished at just how good the noise cancelling is on these headphones. It is genuinely superb!

So, finally, I sat down and started to actually listen to some music. I have some tracks that I refer to over and over again when testing headphones, and these just sailed through my test playlist effortlessly.

London Grammar — “If You Wait” 24Bit FLACs – Hannah Reid’s incredible vocal range was displayed superbly, with the subtle instrumentation and production sounding pure and clean. Bass was controlled and smooth. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Florence and the Machine — 24Bit FLACs. Shake it Out is one of my go to tracks for headphone tests. The deep resonance of the church organ style music and the multiple layers of sounds and vocals in this track can definitely bring some headphones to their knees, with the final refrain often disappearing into a mushy mess. Again though, this was another thoroughly enjoyable listen! The second test track was again a 24Bit FLAC of Dog Days are Over — the harp at the beginning of this track needs to be crisp and sharp and well placed and as the track builds it’s layer upon layer of sound, again you can end up with a messy mush. Once again I was treated to a fine performance from these headphones.

Playing some of my current favourite artists just on Spotify and again I was not disappointed — Black Honey’s disco banger “Midnight” sounded full of energy and the deep synth bassline stayed undistorted and I found myself playing air drums and synths and just rocking out to a brilliant track.

Wolf Alice’s “Planet Hunter” is another tough test — Ellie’s crystal cut vocals and subtle vocal layers sounded stunning, and as the song reaches its indie grunge guitar finale, again I was on the air guitar accompanying them!
A bit of more modern pop and again they still coped admirably with Zara Larson’s “I would like”, and Clean Bandit’s Symphony again were reproduced effortlessly.

I have to say that I am incredibly impressed with these headphones!
Are they as good as my Fidelio x2s? Definitely not, but they are a totally different animal and are genuinely not that far behind.

Are they better than my Sennheiser 4.50HDNCs? Again definitely, in fact, just how much better they are came as a bit of a surprise — I know they are in a different price range, but they just leave them standing in terms of noise cancelling and sound quality.

Are they as good at noise cancelling as my Bose QC25s? — Now this, for me, was the biggest surprise. I know my QC25s were not the latest generation of Bose noise cancelling headphones, but I really wasn’t expecting these to match them. Not only did they match them, in my opinion they are significantly superior! I wish I had a newer set of QC30s to compare them to!

My overall impression of these is that they can replace both my Sennheiser daily headphones, and my lost set of Bose QC25s! Will they survive as well with being thrown in my bag every day as my Sennheiser 4.50s have? Only time will tell.

I was also genuinely expecting the lack of APT-X or another similar advance codec was going to adversely affect the sound quality, but quite simply it hasn’t. It may be that the higher bit-rate of the latest version of Bluetooth just doesn’t need a fancy codec to compensate? The very fact that I only just remembered to comment on it at all should tell you that I definitely didn’t miss it!

If you do decide to take the plunge, just make sure you download the App and install any firmware updates, as for me the sound before and after the update were like night and day. I should also add that they have definitely loosened up after just a few hours of use and sound much brighter now.

Overall I am totally won over by this set of headphones which by far exceeded my expectations!

    I'm converted!

I’ve been using the Jabra Elite for a few weeks now and it just keeps impressing. First, the unboxing gives a real sense of quality – nice packaging, no unnecessary plastic and a very simple set-up as the headphones came nearly fully charged and were ready to pair as soon as I flipped the cans open, after removing them from the very nice and quite flat carrying case. There’s only one instruction – to download the Jabra app to your phone. Once that’s done, the rest of the set-up is wizard-driven so no need to dig through a big manual. The app itself is really powerful, with lots of customisation, listening modes, active noise cancellation options as the basics. Moreover, you can easily register your purchase with Jabra without having to look up the serial number, automatically update the firmware and even find your headphones through the app if you misplace them. Best of all, Jabra’s thought into the user experience is spot-on – it just works and you don’t need to become an expert to get the best out of the headphones.

On to the headphones themselves, they’re nice-looking and surprisingly lightweight with a very comfortable headband and pads on the cans. I really like the sound quality – it’s the first pair of bluetooth headphones that sounds like it’s wired. Nicely expansive soundstage and great detail.

The bluetooth has been utterly reliable to date and the voice calling mic works brilliantly – no complaints from those on the other end of the calls, which isn’t always the case with other headphones.

If there’s a weakness, I would say that the noise cancelling isn’t quite as good as the best versions from Sony headphones, but (a) the Jabra is cheaper and (b) the only downside is that sound’s dynamic range is reduced, but still better than not having NC. The passthrough option – letting you hear the outside world – is very good when wearing these out while walking – better than getting run over, anyway.

I love love love these headphones. I can’t overstate how impressed I’ve been with them.

    So very impressed

Have given these to my son and he is hooked. This is his review:

The headphones work great, the audio quality is amazing and the Built in Alexa works really well and the headphones even have features such as pausing the music when you take them off and that they have an app that lets you optimise how you listen to your music depending on your location and the song your listening to. Overall it is a really good product and I would heavily recommend it.

The battery life is really great- lasts at least 30 hours.
    Fabulous!

I love, love, love these headphones. They come in a fabulous leather zip case. To turn them on just twist the ear covers and connect via Bluetooth. You can also download an app where you can really customise your settings. Turning the volume up is done via the right ear headphone, or your phone, whichever is easiest.

There is also one touch access to Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant, all done via the headset. Two year warranty included which covers water or dust damage.

The sound quality is second to none. Seriously, it’s super clear and you can’t hear anything else but the music. I adore these.

Golden Review Award: 293 From Our UsersSi os soy sincero, mi pena es no haber probado esta marca antes.

Incluso saliendo a la terraza, no he tenido cortes.

I have had a pair of these headphones for about 6 weeks now and they have been awesome. I work from home and coffee shops so they are ideal to pop on and zone out into work mode. The battery life is very good and the ease of use to switch from mobile to desktop is also very useful for me. Overall they are very comfortable and block out a good amount of noise.

I have had these for a few weeks now, and I am really happy with them.
I have taken them on two 7-hour flights and the noise cancelling works a treat with no concerns about the power not lasting. Also the talk through mode lets you listen to the flight briefing without taking them off.
They are very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, some talk about the extra weight, if you head is sensitive enough to detect 20 grams per side of head, wow!
Smart Sound mode adjustment is a work in progress, it still makes mistakes, but is this more than the other apps? I don’t know.
If you are somewhere noisy and need to make a phone call, your callers will have no difficulty in hearing you, and this is class leading
The case is great and there is a diagram on how to put the headphones away in the lid.

    Pro’s
36 hr run time, after a seven hour flight they had use 12% battery
    Standby time 1 year!
15 min quick charge gives 5 hours of playtime
Great noise cancelling, when you have been wearing them for a while with the ANC on then take them off, the blast of unwanted noise can be a bit surprising!
Adjustable (via app) automatic power off
Automatic pause and resume when removing the headphones
Solid Bluetooth connection does not drop out
Tactile buttons not touch controls for positive operation
Great voice quality heard by caller during phone calls, especially if you are in a noisy room
Lay flat hard case to protect them when not in use
    Dust and water resistant
    App to customise functionality
Can pair with two devices at the same time, and remember 8 devices
    Wired and wireless operation
Priced less than the market leading headphones
Comfortable even for larger heads like mine, the extra weight is not noticeable
    Alexa/Google/Siri integration
Artificial Intelligence to switch between modes which are configurable (via the app)
App to adjust many settings including equaliser to get the sound that suites you

    Con’s
Have to be connected via a cable or bluetooth to a device for the ANC to work. Why is this a problem? I found the ANC so good on a plane I wanted to leave them on with nothing playing and have a snooze, I however have to keep a device on too for the ANC to work.
A little heavier than some brands but we are talking grams here!
When in a really noisy environment such as a plane moving your head quickly or tapping the headphones causes the noise cancelling function to briefly reduce before increasing again after a few seconds. Not having had a proper set of NC headphones before I don’t know if this is a quirk of the 8 microphones or a bug?

I do like these, in fact, I love them. Firstly the packaging is stylish, robust and satisfying. There’s a case (MAGIC!) as many higher-end earphones don’t have one and that means people like me lose the cables and other paraphernalia. The headphones are so well designed and I can wear them for quite some time and not feel any pressure on the top of my head or over the ears. The padding is soft and yielding. I always pull up the top headband for comfort anyway as that can help in many cases. They are wireless and easy to use. Fairly straightforward in fact.

The app helps you link up to your phone so you can play your groovy tunes. The sound is good and full…not tinny or too bassy. The noise cancelling is good and blocks out most background sounds. Proper built-in speakers. Holds a charge for up to 36 hours, which is very good. Using for calls has been great especially if like me you have some hearing loss. The voice assistant is useful, too, and I am waiting for her and my Echo Dot’s Alexa to break into a conversation. They will tolerate some light rain if outside (but not too much).

They have a 2 year warranty which is pretty fair. A little pricey but mostly worth it!

I’m not a techie, but my 13 year son (who does love his tech!) and I have thoroughly enjoyed using these headphones for five weeks plus.
    Pro’s
    > Packaging design and feel of a really high standard, you felt you were opening something special!
    > Handy having a flat case, easy to store in a bag – high quality finish.
    > Quick and easy to connect, get the app, tailor to your own requirements and start listening.
    > Felt really comfortable over the head and ears. The inside of the headband and ear cups were both really soft and cushy .
    > Sound quality was excellent.
    > Best feature was the hear through function!
    > Build specification appears high, we believe they’ll last a long time.
    > We liked how the ear cups lie flat when around your neck.
    > The Bluetooth range from headphones to device was really fantastic.
    > Stay charged for ages and ages, even with lots of use.

    Cons
    > Quite big looking when on, but felt comfort and sound quality won over this!

    Also……..
    Spritzwasserschutz macht dann wohl Sinn.

I already have a pair of Sony WH-1000X M3s, so it makes most sense for me to compare the Jabra Elite 85h headphones with those, since they’re clearly aimed at the same market segment and are priced almost the same.

I’ve worn both off and on for the last few days in similar situations – on public transport (tube, train) driving, walking around in the city, and sat in a busy office.

My sound source has been a combination of my iPhone 7 and my Bluetooth enabled PC.

I have to say right out of the gate, that the Jabra Elites were a pleasant surprise – I really wasn’t expecting them to go head-to-head with the Sonys as well as they did. In fact, in a couple of key ways, they’re actually better. I’m going to step through the features of both in turn:

    COMFORT
Both are relatively light for full over-the-ear wireless headphones, though at 252g vs 299g, the Sonys are noticeably the lighter of the two in the hand. That said, when I’m actually wearing them, I don’t notice the Jabra headphones feeling in any way ‘heavy’. Both have an equally well padded headband, though after a while, I do notice both start to cause irritation to the top of my scalp, and I do need to reposition them maybe once every hour or so. I didn’t used to get this with my old Bose on-the-ears QC3s, but they are a lot lighter at only 145g. That would be a good target for earphone design I think – lightness really is everything when it comes to worn comfort. In terms of adjustability – the Sonys, have an easier to slide, ratcheted height adjusment, with a finite nuber of ‘detents’. The Jabra is infinitely variable, but is stiffer to move, as it relies on friction. Both have advantages in different ways. I find the clamping force on my head from the spring mechanism of the Jabra is noticeably harder than the Sony. It’s not noticeably uncomfortable – especially after you get used to them, but you can feel them pushing against your head more. If anything, this gives more of a feeling of security – that they won’t easily slide off.

    NOISE CANCELLING
There’s no doubt about it that the noise cancelling of the Sony headphones is better. They really do block out noise very thoroughly, including people talking nearby – which is great if you’re in a busy office environment. The Jabra headphones are very good, but not quite as good as the Sonys.

    SOUND QUALITY
Ambient sound pass-through, where you opt to have the headphones transmit some ambient sound to your ears – is noticeably better in the Sonys – there is none of the ‘white noise’ which the Jabras seem to generate while passing through sound from outside the headphones. There is also no sound at all when just using them to silence everything. I do notice the Jabras pass through a tiny amount of electric hum which seems to vary as external noise comes and goes. It’s not hugely distracting, but it is there. There’s no doubt that both headphones deliver excellent audio performance. I find that with their default seetings – the Sonys are better for bass, and the Jabras are better for voice – but you can adjust both to your taste with the EQ tools.

    APPS
The Jabra app sometimes has trouble ‘seeing’ headphones which are already connected and in use for some reason – you need to open the app and then turn the headphones on and off again. This is a bit of a pain. The Sony app picks them up straight away.
The Jabra app has an environment tuning ‘Smartsound’ feature similar to the Sonys, which analyzes the environment to tune the sound. It also has a number of relaxing soundscapes which are great for drowning out any external noise that might leak in – the ocean waves, rain and cave soundscapes are particularly effective.

    CONNECTIVITY
Connectivity and connection flexibility is where the Jabra really shines – unlike the Sonys, they remember devices and connect to them without you needing to constantly keep re-connecting manually. This is a huge plus. The Sonys constantly need to be re-peered whenever they are turned on, which involves holding down the power button for several seconds and then selecting them in my phone. This is a royal pain in the butt. I couldn’t get them to connect to my Windows 10 PC via Bluetooth at all, and gave up in the end. The PC just wouldn’t recognise them. For the Jabra headphones, it was no problem – I selected them, they were found, installed as headphones and a headset under Windows, and worked perfectly for Internet calls.

    FEATURES & CONTROLS
I prefer the tactile control buttons on teh Jabras to the capacitive touch controls of the Sonys. They can be used when wearing gloves, and are probably less susceptible to interference from moisture.
Love the fact that the Jabras turn on and off by twisting the earpieces – you don’t need to hold your finger on the power button unlike the Sonys.
I also like that they pause playback when you take them off, and re-start when you put them back on.

    CALLS
Unsurprisingly, the Jabras are better for calls. I find the voice quality of the other person is clearer, and it feels somehow more ‘natural’ – I think maybe the own voice feedback they generate makes that apparent. I tested both for audio at the other end, and to be honest, there’s not much in it. They both sound pretty good from the other user’s perspective.

So in summary – the Jabras are a great set of headphones – the sound quality is very good, functionality is goo, the app is good, and connectivity is much better than with the Sonys. Where the Sonys have an edge is in the noise cancelling – they are noticeably better there.

That said, I find myself tending towards the Jabras in all but the noisiest of environments – purely because they are less of a hassle to just pick up and use – the extra noise cancelling of the Sonys just isn’t worth the additional hassle unless you’re on a noisy train or a plane.

Hold Up Surprisingly Well Against Their Sony Rival - Better In Some Areas

I have used Jabra products for many years, initially as an in ear bluetooth device, through to in car speakers which fitted onto the visor, again for connecting mobile telephones for hands free telephone communication whilst driving.

This is the second set of headphones which I have had the pleasure of reviewing and which marks for me, a tremendous leap forward. They are quite expensive (246.00 as at 7th June 2019), but well worth the money if, like me, you value listening to clear sounds, particularly when travelling.

These headphones offer a number of additional functions over simply being great headphones, primarily allowing you to make hands free telephone calls. I have an MG car and I have found the second set of Jabra headphones ideal in this noisy car – I have tried these on a single journey, but to be honest the other set suffices and I can confirm that the headphones offer excellent audio rendition, even when travelling at speed with the roof down. In normal use, I found the function works well, although my wife has suggested that when I take a call, the whole airport lounge can hear my dialogue.

My main set of headphones previously has been an excellent set of “Turtle Beach” headphones. I have had them for about 6 years and they have been excellent at offering me noise reduction on long haul flights – how technology has moved on in that time! Whilst similarly priced to the Jabra, the Jabra Elite have demonstrated that sound technology in headphones has moved on considerably in both technology and construction. In every way my Turtle Beach headphones are really good, but the Jabra is just better in every department. Comparing the two, where is the Jabra better?

+. Installation and consistency of signal -Jabra connects quicker, with no fall outs at all
+. Control – the Turtle Beach are good but items on the Jabra such as intuitive controls to switch on and off the headphones as you untwist or remove the headset reflect how far technology has advanced.
+ Comfort. I found that both sets are really comfortable, but the Jabra is more comfortable to wear, particularly over a longer period where the Turtle Beach tend to make my ears “sweat”. I can only reiterate that the Jabra are better, not that the Turtle Beach are bad.
+. Sound Quality – My hearing is a little damaged and I suffer from tinnitus; nothing too annoying, but it is there when I think about it. Firstly the sound quality which I receive is excellent and more importantly I can adjust the sounds via the supplied equaliser in the app. Secondly, when wearing this headset, it does negate considerably the effects of my tinnitus, however it does help.

On aircraft, I have found that these headphones do negate background noise considerably, particularly when travelling either close to or in seats directly behind aircraft engines. I have also used them on a long rail journey from Bournemouth to Leeds and found that they were excellent in reducing ambient noise.

I tend to adjust the sound profile manually as whilst I understand that the headphones will adjust automatically, I like to set my own sound profile and not rely on software for this aspect of sound control.

+. Third party apps. I subscribe to Amazon Music and it is helpful to use the Amazon Alexa function. I must admit that we have a number of Alexa gadgets in the house and I have stopped trying to use it as something else always seems to trigger instead. Outside the home, to be absolutely honest, I prefer using either my tablet or mobile telephone.

In summary, I have found these headphones to be outstanding. There are a number of innovative features to either automatically adjust your sounds or switch on/off – combine that with well over 24 hours between charges and these headphones are well worth considering despite the cost.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAlso, wiedermal ein Kopfhrer als Geschenk fr meine Frau.

Problem gelst. 🙂

Really impressed with this Jabra headset. Not only are they comfortable, (for a guy with no hair), the sound quality is great and the build quality is really good.

They were perfect for work out at gym, but then found I was still wearing them when I got home as they are so light.

The phone app was very intuitive and I liked the the alternative / equaliser sound systems too 🙂

Not managed to check the 8 hour play claim, but I’m sure it won’t be long

    I absolutely love these earphones.

Bluetooth connectivity which is so easy to set up (even I could do it on my own). The sound quality is amazing as is the noise cancellation.

The headphones are easy to use and very light and comfortable to wear so no ear pinching for me!

The battery life is excellent and came already fully charged which was a nice surprise.

Came in a robust box with really easy instructions.

They power on and off by turning the earphones flat which is a great idea. I love them!

I’ve worn these headphones around London, used them all day for 3 days and they still say they have high battery. It was the most calm London experience I’ve ever had. The app sets what noise you want to hear or block out. This is more than an amazing boy’s toy – my wife is always trying to steal them. They are also super comfy but also fit my wife. I haven’t used all the functions yet but it also receives calls, has Alexia built in (which can be turned off) and a heap of other bits and pieces including a function to find them if they go missing. They also look good! I’m enjoying them so fa

Thoroughly tested these on my regular train commute and they really can’t be faulted. Build quality is excellent as is the carry case. Most importantly the sound quality and noise cancellation are the best I’ve heard. I don’t pretend to be a dedicated audiophile but to my humble ears, the difference this makes from cheaper headphones is astonishing. The noise of the train fades away (and the app makes the sound very customisable) and it’s like being transported to a gig. I haven’t really found a use case for Alexa, so can’t comment on that, but surprisingly the ‘phones are brilliant for conference calls. I hadn’t expected to use the call functionality at all, but in a noisy office or coffee shop, they are amazing. A really well-made product – top marks.

The Jabra Elite is a revolution in headphones, near the top of the new wave of smart headphones that are flowing into the market now. With exceptional sound quality, a battery life that can outlast even my most hardcore coding / Netflix binges, and noise cancellation that means I can sit working in the middle of Costa and hear nothing but my music. These are far more than the basic wired headphones we’ve been using for so long now. Even before you start playing anything, putting the headphones on immediately does an impressive job of silencing the world around you with the comfortable padded ears. Then little things like announcing the battery status everytime you turn the headphones on (rather than just ten minutes before they go flat), automatically pausing your content when you lift the headphones off your ears, tight integration with Alexa/Google Home, and the power switch built into the twist of the headphones all add up to an effortlessly great experience.
One of the fabulous new features is Hear-Through, picking up noises above a threshold in your environment and playing them to you alongside your music. This allows you to listen to your music and not worry about missing train announcements, your partner shouting your name across the house, or your parents knocking on your bedroom door.
Above all this, the best feature imho is the updateable firmware. As you can see from the review by Nikob, this has already been used to fix bugs in the headphones, and I look forward to improvements in both the mobile app and the headphones themselves.
Finally, the one thing we all know about headphones and other hands-free connections is they inevitably lead to rubbish call quality. That isn’t the case with these! Testing the headphones on a call we found that, both indoors and outdoors, the sound quality was BETTER with the headphones than using the phone directly!
    Minor gripes:
-Hear-through picks up sound perpendicular to stance, so to best hear someone in front of you, you have to turn your head sideways
-Hear-through volume does not adapt to current content volume, so if your music is high it drowns out the hear-through audio
-No way to control the hear-through threshold

    10/10, would choose again! Amazing!

The Jabra Elite 85h is a premium wireless headphone offering with a price that reflects this. They come with a host of features that make them worth a look. Amongst them being a durable feel and water resistance that means you shouldn’t be too worried about them getting wet in outdoor use. A lot of the features are controlled via your phone through an app and I’ll get into a few of these later in the review.

The headband adjusts fairly easily but I found I had to take them off to adjust the band. The earcuffs are pretty comfortable and replaceable but they do tend to make your ears warm after a fairly short time wearing them. They aren’t the lightest but they do feel well balanced and don’t make you feel fatigued after extended wear.

One of the headline features is the ability to control the amount of external noise you can let in. The left pad has a button that allows you to switch from active noise cancellation to hear through that lets in some of the surrounding noise or switch the noise cancellation off altogether and rely on the passive sound dampening from the earcuffs only. I found it worked well and the active noise cancellation was very effective. On the right cuff there is the button for accepting or muting calls. Again I found this worked really well. Call quality was excellent and the inbuilt mic picked up my voice very effectively. Also on the right side of the right cuff are the volume up and down, track skip and bluetooth pairing controls. These all worked as expected and the bluetooth pairing process was simple. Also on the right sight are a usb c connection and 3.5mm jack for wired listening.

Charging is quick with fast charging capability. A 15 minute fast charge can give up to 5 hours of listening time and a full charge giving 36 hours playback time. I found this very impressive and really never found myself picking them up and not being able to listen right away. Obviously volume and use of noise cancellation will affect this but they have enough capacity to comfortably last a working week. With bluetooth 5.0 the signal is rock solid and I found it covered the whole of my house including through walls without drop out. I did suffer some connection issues though were it would seem to lose pairing and I’d have to go through the connection process again to get them going. This was somewhat annoying.

Some nice features include auto pausing of music when you take off the headphones which then resumes on putting them back one. It can also connect two devices simultaneously. The Alexa features worked well and it has included find my headphones feature for the more absent minded of us. Also included in the app is an intelligent monitoring of background option. This then adjusts the amound of hear through accordingly. To be honest I found it a little gimmicky and preferred to have it off and just use the physical buttons to control anc options.

Audio quality was just ok. The bass was pleasant but without real depth and the mids and highs clear and punchy. The equaliser didn’t provide a lot of difference to the stock audio. There was also decent separation and nice wide soundstage but maximum volume was a little bit low for my tastes. The noise cancellation was good but not the best.

Overall the Jabra’s are a good premium headphone. They aren’t perfect but they do provide a good alternative to a market dominated by Bose and Sony.

These noise cancelling headphones are supplied in a smart-looking gift box, and come with a zip-round storage/travel case with a hanging loop/wrist strap, that holds the headphones, a 30cm USB C charging cable, a 1.2mm 3.5mm jack cable, and a 2-pin flight adaptor.

These can be used without customisation of sound features very easily and quickly. The headphones arrived fully charged. These are built with wear-detection sensors, and they really do know when you put them on or take them off. I discovered this without having read any documentation, as they turned on and went in to Bluetooth pairing mode as soon as I popped them on my head to check the fit and comfort. These paired easily with my phone. There’s an inbuilt voice guide that can be turned off if you find it annoying, but I find quite useful — it gives a verbal update on battery and connection status whenever these are switched on.

The headphones are pretty comfortable. The band is covered in a combination of faux leather (on the padded underside), and cloth on the top. The cloth matches the cloth used on the outer covering of the earcups. A relatively small amount of plastic is visible — on the extender sections of the sides, and a bit of framing on the outside of the earcups. The band is well-padded, and doesn’t dig in to my head. The cans are large and thickly padded, and do a good job of securing the headphones in place. My head is on the narrow side, and I sometimes have problems with headsets and headphones slipping, but on the smallest setting these fit well and seem stable. This is quite a heavy set of headphones, though and they are very bulky — the earcups are both large around the ear and quite deep. The earcups can be folded inwards for storage, and swivel through about 100 degrees — when even one of these is turned flat or inwards the headphones automatically switch off – which is occasionally a little annoying, as I’ve managed to accidentally turn them off when lifting a cup off my ear in order to hear someone talking to me more than once.

Despite the headphones’ size, they’re fairly unassuming in some respects. The inbuilt control buttons are small and quite discrete, for instance a multi-control button is built into the cloth centre of the right can, and apart from a small depression in the fabric covering, you wouldn’t know it’s there. The sole lighted element is a single tiny LED on the underside of the right earcup, that illuminates only when features are active/being activated.

The range and reliability of connection on these is pretty impressive. When I have this connected to my iMac, I can go from my study into the kitchen (via the hall) and use the kettle without losing connection, even though the walls in our house are solid.

To configure the Smart Active Noise Cancellation features, HearThrough, and alter the length of time before the headphones enter sleep mode, you have to install an app and create personalised settings. The App is good. I’ve had no issues with installing or using it, but it’s only available for Android/iOS — and can’t be installed on my iMac, restricting functionality with this pairing (apparently only headsets from the brand are designed to have full functionality when used with a computer). The battery life on these is really, really good. I’ve had these for a little over a week, using them for a few hours every day. I haven’t needed to charge them yet, and the status update tells me I still have medium battery life left.

I like these a lot. They’re my first serious pair of noise cancelling headphones. Whilst I’m not sure that I don’t slightly prefer the sound quality from my open-backed headphones when it comes to bass, there’s very little in it: these are generally good, clear, more practical for not causing annoyance to those around me, and for allowing me to listen to music without much background intrusion.

To tell the truth i was not expecting much of these phones, my previous experience of Jabra having been with mid/ lower end quality car audio gadgets. But these are unquestionably and excellent set of phones.

They come in elaborate packaging (looks great, but we have a planet to save…) Inside the phones are a sober black and exude quality.

They pair up via Bluetooth easily, and can also be adjusted via an easily used downloadable app. The controls on the phones themselves are easy to use. One minor issue is that although they pause playing when removed from your head they don’t disconnect, and don’t switch off until one of the heads is twisted through 90 degrees (which you need to do to put them back in the case.) This is not a real problem, but you need to get used to doing it.

For me the sound is everything, In writing this i cant help comparing them to the Sony Sony WH-1000XM2 – which are my favourite high end phones. Firstly the noise cancellation is better on the Sony, but then it is in a class of its own and the Jabra have perfectly adequate noise cancelling for anything you might want to use them for. The sound is excellent, and surprisingly it remains excellent using a bluetooth connection, which is where most headphones let themselves down. The sound is certainly different via the different connections, cleaner via the cabled and warmer, with a slightly muddled but fuller mid range on bluetooth. Since bluetooth usually produces a rather thin dry sound, i presume this was an acoustic engineering choice by Jabra. I wouldn’t say one way of listening was inferior to the other, but they are certainly different. Overall, these are probably a little less accomplished than the Sony phones, but at this level it is really getting down to personal preference. They are marginally cheaper than the Sony, but if buying at this level it is worth spending a little extra if that gives you what you want.

I’ve been testing these for the last couple of weeks now and, quite simply, they’re a phenomenal set of earphones. Where to begin? Well let’s start with the comfort and form factor. Straight out of the box everything has a premium look and feel (which should be at least expected given the price point: but more on that later). Considering the onboard tech etc they’re exceptionally comfortable. I love the way they turn on when ‘untwisted’ and placed on your head (and automatically pause music when removed — which starts again when replaced). Bluetooth connectivity is rock solid: I’ve not had any drop out even from two rooms away (which is significantly superior to any Bluetooth source I’ve had before). Charging is quick and power is impressively long lasting (the remaining charge is notified via the Jabra app and also the in-ear ‘announcer’). Controls are wonderfully intuitive and work well. Control of track selection/volume etc is done via the easily locatable (but highly discrete) buttons on the right earcup (and they are precise and distinct in operation).

The ANC is effective. I have a pair of Bose QC20 earbuds with ANC and I would say that there’s very little between them. But where these 85h’s score big is the various modes you can have and how you can tailor the sound to your preference (once you have downloaded the Jabra earphone app). There’s three basic environmental settings (commute, in public and in private) plus ‘my moment’. The last two allows a lot of personalisation in setting the EQ levels of the earphones via the simple EQ slider graphic (and kudos for Jabra for making this interface so slick and straight forward). ANC can also be easily controlled/toggled on or off (or hear through) via the button located on the underside of the left earphone (which again is easily locatable and, when pressed, there is an audio announcement to confirm which option has been selected).

And so to the sound: at this price I would expect nothing less than hugely impressive and detailed – and they absolutely deliver. Even on a flat EQ they produce a wonderfully balanced sound throughout the range:satisfying bass, great mids and clear, clean trebles (but without a hint of harshness). They sound even better when you play with the EQ settings more to your liking. Good soundstaging and with subtle details coming through well (and pleasingly they sound as at home with classical as they do with rock). Truly they are the best sounding earphones I’ve had the pleasure of using (albeit the dearest).

So are they worth the outlay? After a lot of thought I’m inclined to say yes they are: for comfort, sound, practicality and effective ANC they score on all fronts. I cannot think of any weak areas: they are so well engineered and designed (and with the experience of the end user in mind) that I’m loath to give them anything less than the full five stars. Pitched almost exactly against the more established market leaders they would have to be pretty special: and they are.

    Recommended.

What you would expect from a company who also have a medical arm that manufacturer leading edge earing aids.
So I take it what they don’t know about ears and hearing is not worth knowing.
I wanted to get a set of headphones away from what the typical Lemming Marketeers tend to buy ie Beats,Apple,Sony etc.
These are up there if not superior to your Bose brand.
The battery life is really impressive and the base and crisp sound is amazing.
Seem expensive on first impression but you only get what you pay for.
    Good manufacturers warranty too.
    I would recommend these.

Having previously owned both Bose and Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones I wondered how much this new Jabra set would be an improvement over the fine quality of the others. Firstly the sound is exceptionally spacious and provides ideal listening pleasure. The Jabra sound app provides further possibilities for honing the headphones to your own particular needs. The ability to switch from ANC to hear through is a real advantage and I love the fact that by merely taking the headphones off pauses the sound until you put them on again. The smart sound capabilities adjust the sound depending on the environment you are in which is a real plus. Add to this the ability use Alexa and Siri etc makes for a superb set of headphones. The battery life with ANC on is some 36 hours, which is amazing. They are not cheap but in my estimation the design, sound quality, and additional features are well worth the expense and I am absolutely delighted with them. Very highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHier meine absolut subjektiven Eindrcke zum neuen JABRA ELITE 85 h.

Was will man mehr!

I have had a high opinion of Jabra for office audio- conference speakers etc.- for a while now, but they’ve rapidly gone up in my estimation for domestic audio as well. They’re a premium offering, competing at the upper end of people’s regular price brackets for headphones, but they’ve offered up some seriously impressive headphones that definitely qualify as worth it.

The sound quality is simply excellent. It’s balanced, and rich but not over-done. It’s crystal clear on everything from classical music to jungle- bright in all the right ways, with no sense of any artificial boost. Odd though it sounds they are a tiny bit quieter than the headphones I’m used to, but that’s nothing that just turning the volume up slightly can’t fix!

The active noise cancelling is incredible. I’ve tried a few different noise cancelling headphones before now, including some impressive ones, but there’s something just so effortless about the cancelling on these that singles them out as the best. It’s so understated- somehow you don’t feel that ‘underwater’ feel that other noise cancelling can give you, it really does feel natural and it’s only when you take your headphones off and realise how loud the ambient fan noise in the room is, or how your colleagues have been trying to get your attention for the last five minutes, that you realise just how good the cancelling is.

And if that’s too much cancelling for you, the additional ‘HearThrough’ option is perfect for uses like jogging or outdoors stuff, where you want to hear the music well, but you also want to be able to hear approaching traffic and so on.

They are very comfortable, sitting quite lightly on the ear. They’re fairly lightweight, and they don’t use heavy cups as a noise cancelling ‘cheat’. You can wear them for hours on the trot and not feel uncomfortable or sweaty.

There is one problem worth mentioning. It’s a design ‘feature’ that is slightly flawed- the fact the headphones turn themselves on or off automatically when you fold them out or fold them up. I can see how that’s quite neat and minimalistic, in keeping with the ‘hidden’ buttons on the panel of the right headphone, but in practice it’s a bit of a pain. I leave my headphones hanging on a hook under my desk, so I don’t fold them up when they’re not in use as standard. The lack of a standard ‘off’ switch is one step too far I think, and is properly a bit inconvenient. It’s as though the designers forgot that these headphones also have an AUX input and that people might want to use both options depending on circumstances. If you are never going to switch between Bluetooth or AUX, then there’s no issue.

(Also, if I were really scraping the barrel looking for fault, I’d also say that the USB-C cable that’s included for charging is too short to be convenient, but that’s easily sorted and USB-C cables are used quite extensively now, so anyone with a new-ish smartphone will be able to use their smartphone cable for both purposes, which is handy.)

Some more positives this is the second set of headphones I’ve tried with Amazon Alexa support and it works much better than the first. With the first, shouting was required to get Alexa to acknowledge you’d spoken; with these, you can speak at a more regular volume and be heard, mostly, providing the wind noise or traffic noise nearby is not too excessive.

Bluetooth connection is completely straightforward, although it won’t work if you’ve plugged anything into the AUX cable first it seems. The free Sound+ app is straightforward enough, though possibly a little bit over-elaborate because there isn’t all that much you need to control through it, it’s mainly just some settings to do with when (or if) the noise cancellation will switch itself on or off automatically. This is also the first time I’ve had to install a firmware update on some headphones before I could use all the features- but thankfully that’s all automatic and painless. The headphones are still perfectly useable without the app or the update though.

Despite the couple of minor quibbles I’ve mentioned above though, I can’t in all honestly give these headphones anything less than 5 stars. The sound is brilliant, the noise cancelling jaw-droppingly good, these really are properly top-notch phones.

    Pros
    + great sound
    + good battery
    + easy to pair bluetooth
+ physical buttons on the right headphone are easy to use when being worn

    Cons
    – the power on/off mechanism quite fiddly
    – noise cancelling not as good as Bose or Sony
    – mobile app is a bit limited

The sounds from these headphones are fantastic in my opinion. Trying it out of various music from pop, rock, classical and even audio books, these headphones sounded great. Drums are tight and high notes are crisp. I have really happy with the sound quality.

The noise cancelling on the other hand, is not quite on par with other headphones at similar price points. Wearing these walking about in public, the noise cancelling just doesn’t cut out enough background noise to allow the music to come through properly, so I found myself having to turn up the volume to drown out the remaining background noise. It is still better than no noise cancelling at all, but there are alternatives at the price.

I’ve had these headphones for a few weeks now.
    Build quality is superb
Call quality is great even in noisy environments like on a train, I have had people comment how good it was and I haven’t had to go on mute while not speaking. They have a mute button also on head set which is great for conference calls.

Sound quality and base are really good and it buttons on the headset are good for skipping racks or changing the sound mode which can also be done by the jabra app which allows you to personalise the sound and the noise cancelling etc. You can also use it to locate your headphones.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese headphones are absolutely incredible.

    Comfortable
    Look amazing
    Amazing sound
    Easy to use

They have all the functions you could want, plus they are comfortable and for over the ear headphones are excellent for phone calls. Most other products will block out your voice and you end up shouting, however, these have an amazing mechanic, where is adjusts the volume of your speech so you can hear yourself perfectly during the phone call.

    Great value for money.

I use mine all day and use them in the gym.

    They are perfect.

Best headphones I have ever owned

Easy to set up, pair and use with an iPad, iPod or iPhone. Easy to personalise settings and customise music levels with the free app available from the App Store. A QuickSetUp leaflet would have been useful as the buttons on the headphones are invisible and not easy to find. The headphones are presented in a very useful zipped travel case and come with a usb charger cable and a cable for using with a laptop or PC to make a wired connection when Bluetooth function is not available. The headphones can also be used when making or receiving telephone calls. The noise cancelling function works really well and the music has a rich broad sound.

Conclusion : j’ai totalement adopt ce casque! =)

This is the first pair of over the ear headphones I’ve ever had. I have to say I’m a fan of having no wires. The headphones came partially charged (around 65%) but I left them to fully charge before use. You have to download the app to get full benefit of the features. (Jabra sound+ app)

The charger is a c type charger. It also comes with a wire and a double Jack. There are full instructions for use. I registered the product with Jabra to get the 2 year warranty. I liked that the phones come with a hard case to store them in as well.

They paired easily with my phone and after some tweaking the sound to how I liked it I was very happy with the sound quality. One or two of the features I haven’t experienced yet as I am not fan of voice assistants. The volume is easy to control by touching the right ear. I tried taking calls as well and the recipients said the sound quality was very good.

They are comfortable to wear and the noise cancellation works well in reducing outside noise.

    Very Good

Most expensive pair of headphones I’ve ever used and they do ooze quality – apart from the minimal charging cable – slightly embarrassing that. They do recommend you download the app to your phone for the bells and whistles experience of the headphones – you can then tailor the experience of how you listen to the music.
The music playback experience via bluetooth is very good – clear on music and spoken word – handles football commentary of the radio very well. Overall – the headphones are excellent and look the business.

And that’s where the problem lies. These are the kind of headphones you use when flying or in first class on the train. These are not the headphones to use when on a bus or a train full of drinking halfwits as they will get stolen. These headphones are bling but for a working lad from Yorkshire I struggle to think of where to use them. A great product if you know how to utilise it correctly.

I have had the B&W PX since launch and they have been my ANC headphone of choice for over a year. They are brilliant. When I received the Jabra Elite 85h for review I was a bit sceptical – Jabra are not a brand I am familiar with and so my expectations were low but 7 days later I have to say that they give the PX a run for their money (similar pricing).
What I disliked at first – they’re not as elegant as the PX but over the week they have grown on me. They’re not brash and bling but rather understated and seem to be constructed from quality materials.
Comfort – very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, even with a large head and spectacles to boot! No head clamping experienced.
Sound – nice sonics, warm and bright – perhaps not as rich in musicality and timing compared to the PX but a pleasant listen with lots of detail.
Noise cancelling is well executed and completely isolated me from the outside world – my wife was impressed by this functionality. ANC is controlled by a well thought out app.
Another feature I liked – a proper hard case comes a standard – if you’re paying this much money for headphones this should come as standard – well done Jabra.
The Jabra’s charge over USB C and I haven’t had to charge them more than once during my rigorous testing period ( I tend to listen in two-hour bursts)
Whenever I review headphones I always recommend that potential buyers go to a store and try for comfort and musicality – plug your own tracks in! This still remains my advice.
Are they worth the money and would I buy them myself – the answer is a resounding YES!
I have ordered a navy blue pair for my darling wife!
(We are heading to NY later this year and so we will be headphone “twins” in economy, listening to the Jabras in all of their glory)

After 7 days, I grew to love these!

These are expensive headphones but the comfort and quality help to justify this. They are supplied in a high quality branded box along with a zip around rigid carry case, a USB to USB-C charging cable, a 3.5mm to 3.5mm aux cable for wired use and a 3.5mm to 2 x 3.5mm adapter.

These are reasonably compact over-ear headphones that fold two ways for storage and look and feel to be of very high quality. They are easy to adjust and hold their setting well and the ear and head pads are comfortable without being over padded and getting you hot. Folding the headphones turns the power off and unfolding them turns them on again which is a nice feature.

To get the most out of these you need to download the Jabra Music+ App and this makes setting them up very easy. You charge the headphones via a USB=C port which is relatively quick at about 3 hours to fully charge the headset with a green light indicating the battery is charged. The headphone paired first time with my OnePlus 6 phone and I liked the fact it gives verbal status indicators rather than just bleeps.

There are buttons on the right for volume and pause that are hidden but easy to feel as well as a separate button for the voice assistant. On the left, there is a button to cycle through the different noise-canceling modes. There is a bit of background noise sometimes using noise canceling as well as a penalty in battery life so I normally have this off but it is useful for louder environments and seems to be effective in limiting outside noise…….or the wife!

As an alternative to Bluetooth, you can connect the 3.5mm audio cable and use these as wired headphones but this seems a bit of a waste although this will deliver the best sound quality in theory my hearing is not good enough to differentiate. Amazon Alexa can be accessed through the headphones by pressing the Voice Assistant button although you do need to pair them first. This was straightforward via the Amazon app. This is especially powerful if you subscribe to Amazon Music as you can choose tracks, albums or even radio stations just using voice commands.

The sound quality is very good with nice punchy bass, controlled midrange, and detailed treble. This can be altered via the App with presets to boost bass or speech along with some custom options. However, I tended to leave them on default which is a good compromise. As these are Jabra headphones the speech has been well implemented with multiple microphones that capture your voice well and make audio calls clear and painless despite not having an external microphone and they work well with Microsoft Skype and Cisco Webex conferencing. The microphones actively work to reduce wind noise and this works well when walking around town.

The battery life is quoted as up to 36 hours although this is obviously dependant on volume and features used and after extended use, this seems to be holding up very well. There is also a fast charge which offers 5 hours after a 15-minute charge. They are rain and dust resistant and are supplied with a 2-year warranty and Jabra are a well-established brand with a good reputation for customer service.

Overall these are expensive headphones but offer a lot of features, great sound quality and are very well made with good support to help justify this. If you are in the market for premium over-ear headphones they are well worth considering.

I have had these 3 days and so far the Jabra Elite 85h have survived two intra European flights and are currently half way to Sydney. My sample pair came in a nice Navy Blue Colour; which is a contrast to the black of my Sony wh1000xm3 which were clearly an inspiration for Jabra. In the box you get the headphones; along with a nice oval transport case, a USB-A to USB-C cable and plane adaptor / headphone cable. The case is big; but comes with a generous strap – I attached it to the carribiner on the outside of my backpack to get through the airport and it stood up to the worst Heathrow and Oslo airports could throw at it; and as a result didn’t take up space inside my bag. The good news for travellers and commuters is Jabra are saying these are rain / dust proof which I haven’t seen in any other ANC headphones. The headline item is the noise cancelling is pretty good; I dont think its up with the Sony WH1000 but its better than the B&O H9’s – likely helped by the closed design compared to the on ear design of the b&O headphones. It quiten the whooping dog of a A321 engine shutdown; and kept the rush of air quieten down. Sadly they are pretty bulky and if you have a lie flat bed you need to take them off – otherwise they fall off.

The headphones have a really great why did no one think of it before feature – unfolding them turns them on. This gets lets you easily turn off the annoying wear detection systems as folding – off – always easy to check. Wear detection systems that have infuriated me on B&W’s noise cancelling headphones and drained the battery on B&O’s.

Once powered on my iPhone found them straight away and music was playing whilst I downloaded Jabra’s App. Like the Sony one there is wizardry in the app – starting with an equaliser that let me lift up the higher frequencies as they sounded muted to my ears – even in a hotel room and carrying on to situation detection that tries to tune the settings to your environment – I found this a gimmick on the Sony’s and it still feels like it now – particularly as its not been extended out to a watch control or even buttons on the headphones.

After listening to my 2019 spotify playlist I found the headphones a bit mushy sounding out of the box – the energy of Meganeko’s Discovery wasn’t shining through in the way it does with Sony and B&O’s headphones. The app let me quickly tune the sound to something I felt was more neutral (and maybe a little bright) which is more my comfort sound than the muted out of the box – at least they let you change it the last Bose QC’s I had were pre-app world so you were stuck with the sound. The headphones have nice responsive push buttons for controlling volume and accessing Siri (or Alexa/ google assistant) I prefer these to the hit and miss gesture controls on B&O and the Sony headphones .

The battery life is outstanding; I charged them before leaving London and in Singapore somewhere around 17 -20 hours of use later they are at 40 percent power. The good news is when the power runs out they charge from the same usb-c cable my laptop, table, camera … all use so there is one less cable / charger to carry.

I have been really down on a lot of Jabra’a in ear headphones which have never clicked with me; the 85h’s have made a great initial impression; bring on Sydney and the noisy 777.

So I’ve been very lucky. Over the past years I’ve reviewed a LOT of top end headphones. From 1k Grado RSi right down, with all the variations of wired and wireless, in ear, over ear, on ear etc.
The comparison I was going to make was with B&O and Sony and Bowers and Wilkins. They all make a similar headset in an approximately the same price bracket (300-600) and they have all incorporated displacement sensors (The headphones pause if you take them off etc.)

So first let me say I was gob smacked by these. Ok so no points for cool brand (On the tube you want to be seen wearing B&O right?) but everything else … just blew me away. Lets take B&O. If you have seen my reviews you know it has problems with cutting out if you tilt your head for example, Sony are particularly comfortable and B&W get overwhelmed by blue tooth saturation in busy stations and airports (like Liverpool St Station in London) leading to songs cutting in and out.
well lets start with comfort. The lambs skin leather headset is truly gorgeous. So soft they melt onto your skin. You really feel you don’t ever want to be rough with these headphones. They are truly comfortable beyond belief. Only B&W came close (I’ve had those for ages and they are still lovely to wear). Tech wise … wow … these are the Tesla to your Renault Zoe. They got it perfectly right … fold out the earphones and they come on. Fold them in and they switch off. The voice telling you what’s going on is achingly clear and perfect. No dodgy speech from these … crystal clear and right HERE is were you get the first inkling of what’s to come !
Everything … and I mean everything in terms of tech is better than any other headset. The noise cancelling … the ambient throughput (in a station you can remove the sound and noise cancelling so you can hear announcement.) The comms with your phone and app is perfect. The button position, battery charging, just everything this was spot on.

I held my breath when I finally got over the tech and decided to play my test album (India Arie – Acoustic Soul : Download it and try it)
I needn’t have worried … the sound was sublime. You could hear the fingers sliding up the frets of the guitar, her breathing as she sang …. the details and base was perfect.

I am left with simply 2 comments.
    1) Buy a set. Seriously. Try it and remember if you don’t like it Amazon give you a month to send them back. LOL …. trust me though … you won’t be sending these back. Unless all you care about is the brand name these blow everything else I’ve tried to date away.
    2) Jabra …. what the hell? why has it taken you so long to come into this market? These headsets are phenomenal ! It’s so unfortunate that your name is associated with telephone headsets, because these deserve serious recognition.

The Jabra 85h’s are the company’s first foray into the world of high end ANC headphones which are mainly dominated by Bose, Beats and Sony. I’ve owned a set of Bose QC35ii’s for almost a year and as the 85h are selling at an identical price I decided to do a side by side comparison.

Outer packaging, as you would expect, is high quality. Inside you’ll find the headphones stored inside their zip top rubber like hard case. Also in the case is a 3.5mm audio lead, a two pin airline adaptor and the usb charge lead. My set arrived fully charged and ready to go. I would recommend you download and install the Jabra Sound+ app before you use the headphones, and also an app called Jabra Assist. Initially set up was frustrating – I couldn’t get the app to pair with my Huawei P20 Pro. After a bit of online research and a very prompt response from Jabra customer services, a fix was found. It involved having to manually adjust some settings and permissions on the phone, which was easily and quickly done.

The 85h’s have no power button. They switch on and automatically connect to your device once removed from their case.
The headphones can also be set to pause music play back when removed from your head, and automatically resume play back once the detect you have placed them back over your ears. On the outer rim of the left hand ear cup there is a single button that selects ANC on or off and hear trough. On the outer rim of the right hand ear cup is another single button that activates your chosen voice assistant (Alexa, Google or Siri). In the middle of the right hand ear cup are two small dot like buttons which act as volume up/down and track next/previous. The larger centre button it the bluetooth connect control, play/pause music and answer/end calls. From the Sound+ app you are also able to programme the headphones to automatically switch off after a period of inactivity (between 15 minutes and 8 hours).

Construction is solid and comfort is slightly better than the QC35’s. The 85h’s feel that bit more of a snug fit. Both headphones have a padded headband and generously padded ear cushions. One thing I did observe is that the QC35’s come with replaceable ear cushions (which over time and prolonged use will wear and require replacement). Unless I’m wrong, it would appear that the ear cushions on the 85h’s can’t be replaced.

So, to the actual sound test. Without customising the sound on the 85h’s my initial reaction was under-whelmed; I was expecting so much more. However, when I adjusted the headphones via the Sound+ app’s equaliser, things began to rock. I think, subconsciously I was of the opinion that my QC35’s were unbeatable in sound quality. After around six hours of continual use (mostly at maximum volume via my P20 Pro and full volume on the headset), the sound had grown on me and although the 85h’s weren’t as loud as the QC35’s, there wasn’t such a big disparity to make it a deal breaker. I found the overall sound arena provided by the 85h’s to be warmer and smoother than the QC35’s and had considerably better depth to the sound quality – so much so, that when I tried the QC35’s after the 85h’s, the Bose’s sounded tinny, with too much high end. A fantastic album to test the 85’s on is ‘Forever Vienna’ by Andr Rieu & The Johann Strauss Orchestra (available on Amazon music). I’m not usually a classical music fan, but listening to this was awesome on the 85h’s.

Call quality was superb; far better than anything I’ve heard before. There are eight separate microphones built in to the headset. I did two calls whilst testing to two of my sons. Both were surprised when I informed them I was talking via a headphone; both commented they thought I was speaking directly through my ‘phone. The quality of their voices was the same through the headphones – crystal clear. So on call clarity the 85h’s win hands down.

On Active Noise Cancellation. I was unable to tell if either of the headphones were better – both were excellent.

Battery life – The 85h again wins by far. After six hours at full volume there was still 79% battery level left (the battery level can be checked via the Sound + app).

To conclude, who in my subjective opinion, wins ? It was going to take a lot to sway me to the Jabra 85h, but swayed I was. Not by a long shot, but taking in all of the above, the better call quality, the far better battery life and the overall warmer sound along with the comprehensive Sound + app, Jabra have produced a very worthy contender to compete with the best of the rest. Highly recommended.

I’ve also attached six screen shots from the Sound+ app to demonstrate what can be done.

FOR HUWAEI OWNERS – Below is the fix you’ll need to perform to ensure the Sound+ app functions correctly on your device ( if it initially doesn’t) –

Huawei smartphones, by default, use power save measures that prevent apps such as Jabra Sound+, from launching automatically.
You can change the power save settings on your smartphone to keep Jabra Sound+ open by using the following steps.
Note the steps may vary from Android device to Android device.

    Enable Jabra Sound+ to launch:
    Go to Settings>Battery>App Launch.
    Select Jabra Sound+.
Select Manage Manually, and allow the three options.

Turn off the battery optimizations for the Jabra Sound+ app:
    Open the Android settings app.
    Select Battery.
Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
    Select Battery optimization.
In the Not optimized dropdown, select All apps.
    Tap Jabra Sound+.
    Select Don’t optimize.

    Allow background activity:
    Open the Android settings app.
    Select Apps & Notifications.
    Choose to see all apps.
Select Jabra Sound+ in the list.
    Tap Battery.
Under Manage battery usage, enable Background activity.

    Important:
Power the smartphone off and on for these changes to take effect.

I have used various noise cancelling headphones, both active and passive but never expensive kit such as this or Bose so my comparisons are with cheaper sets. Yes, these are expensive but if you can afford it, they are certainly worth the price, particularly in terms of noise reduction.

First of all, the headphones are well built and extremely comfortable. I often use in ear buds but these are often uncomfortable to wear for any length of time. Luckily it seems acceptable and normal these days to wear over ear headphones when out and about. These are not as bulky as some which is an advantage.

Noise reduction is good. It doesn’t cut out all sound, which is probably a good thing, but it cuts out more the enough to be able to clearly hear the music or speech on your recording. A good test is listening to an audiobook on public transport or when walking along in heavy traffic (on the pavement of course!). These headphones handled these conditions excellently. They use active noise cancellation rather than passive, which merely uses the fit of the phones (usually ear buds) to blockout sound. Unlike cheaper active cancellation phones I have used, there is no noticeable hiss when noise cancellation is switched on.

Sound is above average, it maybe could have been better for the price, particularly in the bass sounds but they are perfectly listenable.

All controls are on the phones themselves and positioning is easy to learn. My only gripe is that there is no on/off switch. It turns off when you position the headphones facing outwards (ie for storing in the supplied carry case). If you are just stuffing them loose in a bag, they may not stay off although at this price, I would advise using the carry case for protection as it is very sturdy.

Battery life is very good. It claims 36 hours with noise cancellation switched on. I’m not sure about this yet but I have used them out for a couple of days (probably a total of 4 – 5 hours) and battery level is still high. There is a voice message letting you know the battery level whenever you switch on.

The phones can be connected wirelessly via Bluetooth or via the removable cable provided. Bluetooth connection is straightforward. It connected easily on my iPad. I had a little more difficulty with my LG phone but experience tells me that this is more likely a problem with the phone and once I got it to recognise the headphones, they connected straight away.

You can use services like Siri and Alexa with the built in mic. but this is via the phone or tablet device, it doesn’t connect directly to your router or hub.

I really like these Elite 85h Over Ear Headphones from the Danish company Jabra. They are nice to use. Build quality, design and comfort are excellent. They feel sensible — good features, but no flashy shouting. They are not perfect, but their faults are minor and something I am willing to forgive.

Sound quality is good. Detail in the sound is revealed well. Okay, so I have a pair of premium earphones in this price range that reveal a bit more detail, occasionally revealing notes or instruments I hadn’t noticed before, but I find their tone a bit harsh. In contrast, I find these Jabra headphones have a tone that is warmer, richer and more pleasant. Treble, bass and mid-tomes are well defined without being over-done. I mainly listen to classical and jazz, both of which are served well by these headphones — piano music is especially good.

The optional noise cancelling works well at reducing background noise – I’m currently catching up on The Archers, undisturbed by the cartoons my kids are watching on TV (bliss!).

There is no delay in processing the sound, so these headphones are fine for watching movies. I’ve not noticed any breakup of sound or Bluetooth signal, though it’s reassuring to have an optional 3.5mm socket and lead.

The buttons on the headphones are intuitive and easy to use. It’s good that they are pressed with a pronounced click; I have a few other headphones that have touch sensitive buttons that are too easy to accidentally trigger.

Only very minimal instructions are included in the box. But full instructions can be downloaded and are also available on the optional app. The instructions well written, concise, and easy to follow.

The optional app has a graphic equaliser and allows control over the headphone configuration. It is one of the better headphone apps I have used – intuitive and well presented. However, I’ve found that it doesn’t always close when the headphones are turned off, and sometimes remains running even after I try to close it. Not a major problem, and probably something an update will fix.

The phone answering capability is easy to use and works well. The microphone sound quality isn’t brilliant with words occasionally breaking up slightly. However, it’s good enough for phone calls.

One slight irritant is the harsh, “double-clunk” sound notification for the maximum volume level being reached or the sound mode being changed. Hopefully this is something Jabra will improve with a future firmware update.

Something else I’m that is irritating is the way to switch these off. There is no on/off switch, instead they come on automatically when placed on the head, and switch off when the ear elements are folded flat. I’ve found that it is too easy to accidently switch them on, for example when putting them in their case. They then automatically pair with the phone. It’s a bit annoying, and I wish they had a good old on/off switch.

Overall – a couple of slight irritations, but in spite of these a very sensible, satisfying pair of headphones. My current favourites!

Update – September 2020 – still impressed. These have continued to impress me over the past year. I’ve experienced no problems with them, and still find the sound impressive.

Forget the sound quality, forget the comfort, the app, check this out for convenience:
To turn off you just remove the headphones and turn the earpieces so they touch
To mute the sound just remove the headphones
To turn on you just separate them again
    Now that is useful thinking
But, as it happens these headphones DO have exceptional sound quality, you use the app to adjust the sound presents, but my tip is to select Active Noise Cancellation for quality, very very good.
These headphones are also exceptionally comfortable which is very important to me, indeed its perhaps the deciding feature with me, and these are very comfortable.
The only negative is that these cream ones do not look any good outdoors, (do any),externally they look big and bulky and I wouldnt be seen dead walking outside with them
However, the soundquality, comfort and ease of turning off and on is a winner, I would have another pair.
Oh yeah the manufacturer gives you another year quarantee

I prefer over the ear headphones to earbuds which I find very uncomfortable.
High quality boxing is very evident and detailed instructions and a good Jabra Music+ App makes setup easy
These are well made , lightweight and very comfortable in fabric and what they describe as leatherette.
The marking for Left and Right is not instantly obvious and seldom is on any headphones.
I am used to Bluetooth headphones needing to be recharged after about 4 hours or so but these are rated at 36 hours per charge with ANC switched on.
To charge just plug the headphones into a USB port on your computer or wall charger using the USB C supplied charging cable.
No mains charging unit itself is supplied
It takes approx. 2.5 hours to fully charge the headset with a green light indicating the battery is charged.
The App also displays top right the battery as a percentage available.o

Twisting the headphones turns the power off and pauses the track you are on and untwisting and repositioning gives a verbal battery status message and advises you are connected in Bluetooth.
I don’t know why it shows on my iPad in Bluetooth as two connections for Jabra Elite 85 on two lines saying one connected and one not connected.
On the right earpiece through the fabric covering you can feel three buttons for volume + and – with a centre pause button which also acts as a Bluetooth pairing.

As other reviewers have mentioned there is an announcement when the Smartsound Automatic Noise Control (ANC) changes what it calls the ” Moment” such as” in public moment ” or ” in private moment” . This is a bit annoying and unnecessary and hope that a future firmware update will remove it.
You can turn off the Voice Guidance announcing battery and connection status but it seems the the announcement of what ” moment” is selected still comes on.
The update which took place as soon as I had paired and connected to the Jabira Sound + App still has it.
There is a bug on the App regarding Smartsound where it reports ” analysing” but does not complete even though it has selected a setting.
I like the fact you can just connect a 3.5mm audio cable and avoid Bluetooth all together and if you want the ANC , Hear Through or Off this is operated by the push button on the left earpiece.

The Alexa Voice Assistant can be accessed through the headphones on your device but only if you are out of range of any Dot devices you may have listening out.
If you are too close it seems to respond through the Dot device rather than the headphones.
I found it a bit frustrating with the mute/unmute microphone button on the right earpiece, or the WiFi internet or the Bluetooth connection frequently dropping out when using the Alexa App.
You need to open theAlexa App of course on your device and select listen so overall it is just too much messing around.
I initially thought you could just by pass the App and talk to the headphone.

As for the sound quality which can be tweaked on an equaliser within the App is probably completely wasted on me as I can seldom differentiate between the sound quality on headsets costing 20 or 200 or more.
I never understand how they arrive at a final retail price but the build quality on these does seem high whether the sound quality is worth the cost I am not sure but other reviewers seem to think so.
I don’t like too much bass and the default on these are just right for me.
Within the App there are Presets to Boost Bass, Speech, Boost Treble Smooth and Energise whatever that means.

The headphones can be paired to two smartphones at once, and can accept multiple incoming calls from either smartphone but I have not tested this function as I have reverted back to none Smartphone now using a simple call and text phone.

In combination with your device App customise to your requirement. A quality product.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersVorweg-Ich bin kein HiFi-Pro und auch kein Experte.

I am really blown away by these. Sound quality is exceptional. Plus, you get loads of goodies onboard, such as

+ Configurable noise cancellation, modes for travel, noisy crowds, pass through

+ They turn on when you don them, off when you remove them

+ Alexa onboard when connected to a mobile or pc

    + A smart case

Weight wise, they are on the heavy side, but i didn’t notice when wearing them, only from the point of view of travel. Instructions are clear, with voice guidance and a diagram illustrating how to adjust volume, etc.

You will need the app to update the firmware or change the equaliser, but nothing else.

Even without running them in, sound quality is brilliant. If you can afford them, just buy them!

Super impressed with my new Jabra Elite 85h Headphones. I’m not particularly tech-focused so wasn’t sure what to expect but I love my music and the quality of the sound through these headphones is phenomenal! They were easy to set up, the most comfortable over-ear headphones I’ve ever used and really quick to charge.
The carry case is also really well made – the feel of the whole product is premium and top-quality.
Couldn’t be happier and would definitely recommend!

Well what a product, you really do get what you pay for. The quality of this product is clear from the packaging through the device itself and even on to the app you download to manage the device.

Cards on the table I haven’t had noise cancelling headphones before so I can only review them based on my experience of these headphones but my word they work!

Sound is exceptional, clear, crisp and with no intrusion from the outside world- I need to try out the app functions more to discover what more it can do.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersEs ist ein gutes Headset.

    Hier meine kurze Erfahrung:

    Absolute Kaufempfehlung!

Was ich damit sagen will, wer hier Nachtritt ist selber Schuld…!

Was bekomme ich fr mein Geld geliefert:

    Peripherien:

    Bauform: Over-Ear-Kopfhrer (geschlossen ANC)
Konnektivitt: Bluetooth 5.0, 3,’5 er Klinke
    Bandbreite: 10Hz – 20kHz
    Treiber: 40 mm
    Gewicht: 296
    Mae: 195mm Lnge x 82mm Breite x 225mm Hhe

Zertifizierungen: Bluetooth 5.0, CE, FCC, IC, RoHS, REACH, MFI
    Herstellergarantie: 2 Jahre

    Tragegefhl/Passform:

In diesem Sinne Rock on!

Wer hier Nachtritt ist selber Schuld...

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersNoch nie habe ich so viel Geld fr einen Kopfhrer ausgegeben!
