Bought this to replace one bought in 1985 which was much used and loved. The motor is more powerful and quieter than my old faithful. I like Kenwood electronics and their after sales service is good. Hoping my cakes come out as good as Mary Berry’s!
The Kenwood chef was a gift for my daughter and all I can say is she is absolutely delighted with it, it Is in constant use and I think she has found herself, next I bet she will be on bake off.i
Had my last Kenwood chef for 41 years and the motor has just gone. Pleased that my old attachments fit this one. Nice high speed. A little disappointed that I’m going to have to get it adjusted so the whisk sits lower in the bowl as I don’t have the strength in my hands to do it and the whisk isn’t reaching small quantities. Would have expected this to be done on a product which costs a lot. Whisk much thinner wire than my old one.
After many years of use our glass mixing bowl went to mixing bowl heaven aka dustbin. I chose the stainless version as it is unbreakable but will of course dent and as that is not my intention it has proved a good buy.
Had my last one for 30 years just died a death, hope this one lasts as long
My last Kenwood Chef lasted for 42 years so rather than choose a different make mixer I decided to stick with a Kenwood and I’m not disappointed. Highly recommend i
My wife’s first Kenwood Chef lasted her over 40 years so once it finally gave up the only one she would consider as a replacement was another Chef.
A robust well made mixer with good quality accessories. No drama, it just gets on with it and does the job properly. Knocks the Magimix it replaces into a cocked hat.
Replaced our last Kenwood, which gave up after 30 year’s service.
After 30 years my wife’s old mixer broke, she saw this one & I brought it for her. My wife really loves it, she says it is so much easer to use & is quicker as well, also easer to keep clean. I know she wouldn’t to change back to the old one.
As good as my old Kenwood that I had for 40 yeats. Bought Mincer as well his time round . Makes mixer even more useful.
The base of the stainless steel bowl could be better designed, it it awkward to wash and dry after use
Have only had it for a few days but so far is holding up very well. I have used it to make cakes and bread, all of which have turned out great. Would recommend if you’re looking for a high quality stand mixer.
Ordered this mixer last Friday and arrived today (3 working days) so amazing service.
Used it 3 times already to mix cake batter and then buttercream and I am hugely impressed. Mixes ingredients right down to the bottom of the basin, and even managed buttercream on a low setting.
Very easy to clean and very sturdy. The only thing I am concerned about is the plastic lid as it is simply made and I don’t think it will last very long as I can be quite heavy handed and it doesnt seem very robust.
Overall I think it’s a fabulous product and I’m glad I went for this model, it isn’t the “prettiest” on the market but looks aren’t everything
Old Kenwood chef motor went after 49years of hard work. This new one should see me through. I couldn’t be without it.
kenwood. in my opinion.one of the best on the market.
Very pleased with this item, up to date model, easy to operate.
So easy to use, and wash after use, kneads my bread perfect!
Good quality machine, have wanted one for years. Now a very happy baker.
These are great machines, very flexible. They have many attachments and are extremely well made.
Easy to clean. Strong and durable. I love this machine, it saves so much time.in the kitche
Kenneth is mighty, Kenneth makes bread
Kenneth can have attachment on his head
Compact model with all the attachments for dough and whisk
Sadly the liquidiser attachments from my old Kenwooddon’t fit, so I will have to buy new ones which is really annoying.
Loving it. Easy to use and brilliant outcomes. Already made a cake and bread and both turn out great.
Chose this mixer as I always used my Mum’s Kenwood and it was so reliable! This version is admittedly cheaper, doesn’t have so many attachments but the metal bowl is the same (sensible and robust) and the mixer does what it is supposed to do. Made a Coffee Victorian Sandwich cake as a test and it was delicious, light and fluffy sponge.
This item arrived promptly. It is very smart and well built and so far we are very pleased with it. The K beater tool was missing from box and after informing Amazon of the matter, a replacement was quickly arranged and has now been posted due to arrivewith us in only 3 days – what an efficient and professional service. This stand mixer is recommended.
Overall good value for money compared to the alternatives
We’ve yet to see how long this model will last! but has an older “Dad” to live up to.
The only thing we’ve found that we don’t find quite so good is the metal bowl instead of the previous plastic one. Not sure why, but we’ve found the plastc bowl seemed to be much better for whipping egg whitess for merangues – (spelt wrong). However we’ve got the old bowl so can use that! Overal a great machine.
Pro’s
——
* Looks great. I was expecting it to look a bit boring based on the picture but we like the model – it’s a classic.
* The attachments on an improvement on the ones we had for the old mixer.
* It’s a lot quieter than the old device.
* The splash guard is very useful.
* Some of the attachments from the old mixer still work on the new one.
* I am getting a lot of homemade food.
Con’s
——
* The attachments are not cheap.
OK, so there is no easy way to say this so I will just jump straight in , I bought this for my wife for Christmas. Don’t judge me, she got me a weight training bench and weights to get me back into shape. We think this is a great kitchen tool which seems to be as well made as our last one. Indeed, our old Kenwood Chef was a hand me down from my parents and I remember my mum making me delicious food with it when I was a child. These things seem to last forever and the old unit has been passed back to my parents for one of the younger members in the family to use.
I have always had kenwood since a child, and now I have my own. Can’t really find any faults other than maybe the bowl can be quite tricky to remove if you have been kneading bread dough for 10-12 mins.
Every thing you would expect from the Kenwood name. Great quality. Very sturdy build. From first use we knew this machine will last for many years to come.
bought this for SWMBO [at her request i might add ] as Xmas pressie
She seems to like it and it does the job
It is liked because it does what it is supposed to do
Gone through so many mixers, this was the best decision to buy this! Batter doesn’t get trapped down edges and sides when you lift the lid like other brand and Iv used. Good solid metal mixer, very strong, super easy to clean!
I have always had a kenwood mixer, uncomplicated, easy to use.
I’ve used this for making bread and for cakes. Does both jobs very well. Is easy to use, although takes a bit of getting used to the lever to move the head up and down. Does seem robust, so hopefully will last – haven’t had one before, but so far very pleased.
Quite sturdy
Not used it that much but pleased with it so fa
No dislikes from this one it’s a fantastic mixer you can use other components to it for food preparations and is durable recommended for anyone.
This is an excellent product and the 2nd Kenwood I have purchased. I am still using my original Kenwood which is 15 years old. I bought this one as a spare.
My original was 42 years old. Let’s hope this one does the same!
Easy to operate and value for money. Quality not as good as the model it replaced though.
Very happy with this product, had the old kenwood back in the day, enjoy using it.
have been keen to purchase this mixer for a while now. Great price really pleased. Thankyou
Great for getting the hard work done mixing ingredients. Works superbly. Love it highly recommend
Great product and amazing value for the
money. Makes lovely cakes.
This was a good bargain from Amazon. Good quality cake mixer.
Purchased this kenwood chef so i could have my own. My family all have kenwood chefs and they have been consistent quality for generations. This modern day machine seems to be just as robust as the older models. If it lasts half the time of my grandparents then it’s money well spent. I have an array of attachments and all excel at the intended tasks. The motor seems to be more than capable of not only mixing dough but also grinding and slicing with ease.
Supposed to be the best but is not suitable for smaller quantities as everything gets whizzed to the sides and needs constant scraping. Single dough hook does not knead dough adequately. Whisk does not handle anything thicker than cream or egg whites. Durable yes,had it 15 years but only use it when batch baking large quantities.
I love my kenwood chef, I have made some lovely roulades with the whisk, no effort and brilliant results.
I looked at cheaper Chinese mixers with various English brand names attached far cheaper than the Kenwood and though tempted was glad I chose the Kenwood Chef with it’s cast metal alloy body and potential for myriad useful attachments plus a powerful motor to move dough!
Love this mixer.
This is my 3rd over many many years. I would never be without one.
I love it.
Jean.
I bought this for my daughter as hers had just broken (it was very old) and she is absolutely delighted and it arrived very quickly.
Arrived almost too promptly! Excellent product just what we wanted.
My childhood was filled with baking in our home and always with a Kenwood Chef- so… in my 30’s I have treated myself. I LOVE IT. Little did I know that not only can you do all the usual stuff inside the bowl, cake, bread, egg whites etc there are 2 nifty outlets, one on the front and one on the top and there are LOADS of amazing attachments to use – Christmas presents are sorted!
It comes with 3 tools – the most necessary ones: dough hook, beater and whisk. I make bread and I cannot knead by hand as well as this machine does it. The whisk is excellent for whipping cream or making meringues.
Variable speed and pulse gives first class control – important not to overbeat some mixtures.
The bowl cover can get in the way sometimes so I don’t always fit unless the job in hand is messy, e.g. making icing with fine powder sugar.
Cleans easily – parts detach for washing and the body gets a wipe over.
Think about worktop space – you may want to leave out as it is heavy for putting in and out of cupboards – and you may need to think about wall cupboards restricting use when raising the head or adding top accessories such as blender.
The unit also looks very smart in the whith gloss finish. The control knob and the front outlet cover though are plastic, the other down point I can see is that the unit no longer comes with the spanner to adjust the depth of the attachments and there isnt a blender included but as not eveyone would have use of these things it’s not put me off it.
The main differece with this unit and the older models apart from the shape and sound is that the front slow port to the front is of a different design so your old attachments won’t fit without an adapter availabe direct from kenwoods website approx 13 including postage, I bought one so I could reveiw this properly and all of my attachments fit brilliantly so my old noisy is consigned to the back of the kitchen cuboard whilst my new favourite is proudly on display.
Given the long heritage of kitchen appliances from Kenwood, the real draw for me for this machine are the very wide range of accessories available via the well established and standard connectors. The Kenwood accessories range is vast for the Chef and you can use this machine to power a whole raft of kitchen automation and the high and low speed adaptors are integrated seamlessly into the machine top and very easy to access without having to use a screwdriver or the back of a spoon.
Comes with the usual slightly pointless manual/sales brochure for add-ons to make sure you know how to work the remarkably straightforward controls and can use the attachments and connectors.
In conclusion, it’s a solid, dependable, practical and good looking beast of a machine which shuns the design notes of other manufacturers and retains a near iconic look which just screams “get out of my way, i’m a proper cook” Recommended.
Postscript: As noted by other reviewers, the three standard attachments which come with the machine are the aluminium versions which aren’t very good if you plan to use a dishwasher a lot as they can stain, weaken and discolour. Consider buying the stainless steel versions which are readily available and are quite affordable.
This KVC3100W version is more rounded in design than some of its recent predecessors (though still has the chunky body traditional from the Chef range, rather than the more ‘American Diner’ styling of a Kitchen Aid or K-Mix), a smart, white, solid bodied-machine with silver-coloured accents and a brushed metal bowl. The cable and plug are in a contrasting grey. This is hands down a better machine than my previous Chef model, which felt very plasticey. The majority of the casing for this machine is coated metal and reassuringly robust feeling. The large capacity bowl has been a standard on Kenwood Chefs for years… but the brushed metal finish hasn’t. This feels really good quality, and doesn’t show marks too badly. Although durably made, this machine is still reasonably light and manoeuvrable.
The machine comes with three standard attachments – a dough hook, a whisk and a ‘K’ beater – as well as a splashguard bowl cover with integrated pouring lip, a spatula, and a mat that fits under the bowl to help stabilise it and reduce noise. The attachments that come with this are the powdered aluminium versions, and although (per the handbook) these can be cleaned by hand or dishwashed, dishwashing does cause some discolouration and powderiness to the metal. If you’re planning to dishwash these tools regularly, it may be worth investing in the stainless steel versions. The fingergrip dial used to control speed on previous versions of the Chef has been replaced with a simple, round knob. This moves seamlessly between speed settings, but does feel a bit less solid than the rest of the mixer. So far it’s the only thing about it I’m not terribly keen on.
In use, this is a powerful beast. The 1000Watt motor is pretty quiet as such things go, although on some of the faster speed settings it gets quite high pitched. Making pizza dough with 750g of flour – dough can be one of the toughest challenges for a stand mixer – the machine vibrates a bit, but unless on one of the highest speed settings, doesn’t ‘walk’ about the worktop as can be the case with less powerful machines when struggling to manipulate a ball of dough.
In addition to its basic stand mixer functions, one of the big strengths of the Kenwood Chef is the huge range of attachments which can be bought to go with it, for use with the multiple outlets on the machine. The availability of an adaptor means that even some of the older attachment types can be used on this release. The high and low speed outlets for attachments such as a blender, multi mill, mincer and food processor are neatly integrated into the top of the mixer. The white cover for the high speed outlet simply lifts off and clips on, whilst the cover for the low speed outlet adds a splash of contrast colour/shape and is easy to remove via a neat little thumb-press button.
Accompanied by a well-written, if basic, instruction manual and a glossy booklet advertising optional attachment accessories. No recipe booklet included (and only a basic chilli sauce included in the instruction manual), but there are loads of recipes tailored to Kenwood’s kitchen machines range hosted on the Kenwood website.
