Must have at least a quarter full before it will mix the bottom

I had a Kenwood Chefette 40 years ago and it worked for at least 25 years and was still working when I sent it to the tip, I had no hesitation when my mother asked for a new hand held mixer for Christmas in purchasing a Kenwood Chefette for her, the main reason was that she has difficulty holding a hand mixer so this one has a stand and bowl so she will not have to hold it, Mother was very pleased with her Chefette and has said that it worked beautifully so there we are Kenwood has maintained its level of quality over 40 years and more, yes it is not a professional machine however for light cake making type cooking it does the job with aplomb !

The second one we have owned over the years. All we need in a mixer.

Wanted a small mixer, one up from a hand mixer. This is just the job,and powerful.

Delighted with this purchase. Used straight away to bake a cake, mixed perfectly, great results. Really easy to use and clean, but did first read instructions on how to operate. Some find the hand held part heavy, I find this fine, but on this occasion used locked into base. Splash guard and spatula brilliant additions.

Overall good little mixer. Have had heavy and more powerful stand mixers, but this is just fine for cakes, sponges, pastry and scones. Back to basicskeep it simple!

The only down with this machine is the 6 minute continuous use warning as it will overheat if left on longer.

Otherwise it is a very versatile and well designed machine

The chefette arrived as promised, thank you Amazon. The mixer was put to work straight away. Chocolate brownies. The mixer was easy and quietly did the job. My hands are arthritic all buttons and controls were easy. The Kenwood brand is known to me, easy choice to buy. I will use again with good success, brownies were lovely.

To make cakes and meringues for home use, I find the bowl a bit too large as beaters only touch the bottom quarter, however most bowls are large now !

Excellent and works very well. I started married life with a chefette and then progressed to a chef as the family grew. Now in later years I am back to a chefette and not disappointed.

This is perfect if it’s cakes you want to make, that’s all I will be wanting to use it for, it’s small and a perfect size to keep in a cupboard and the price is amazing. Definitely recommend it.

Great little device, much better made than cheaper competitors. It does not feel premium at all but the price point speak for itself.

It does all we need and the cover seems to be great add-on shame not glass but again for the price you pay you get a lot.

Quieter than most cheaper devices, good turbo mode, great cooling and enough power to make any cake.

My lady is super happy with it so do I

It makes superb sponges, mixes thoroughly no mess. It’s easy to use, even though I do have trouble with my hands. I would recommend this to anyone. Charles (everything has a name in my house) Chefette is certainly the star in my kitchen!

This is a good mixer for both hand and bowl mixing. the mixer feels very sturdy, the bowl is stainless steel and rotates when in use which is unusual in other hand/ stand mixers. I have just made a batch of cupcakes and found the mixer very easy to use, the mix was perfect and it was easy to clean afterwards

Very pleased with this machine. Ideal for what I want it for. Didn’t need a big one now all the family have flown the nest and we have downsized. It doesn’t take up too much room either, which is a bonus!
Just made a coffee and walnut cake and if has risen lovely. Yummy!

This is the best mixer ever..I’m gutted as I’m moving to the USA and this I see not available over there.
If you want a mixer on a stand , but also need a hand mixer, this is it!! It does both..
And looks really great too. I would highly recommend it.

Bought a proper mixer, but it was too big and heavy. Took it back to the shop for a refund. Bought this mini mixer and it’s perfect for the occasional use I want it for, and just the right size bowl. Couldn’t be happier. Would recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI was given a Kenwood Chefette by an aunt of my husband’s as a wedding present. That was in 1972. It had a particularly useful white pyrex bowl which rotated on its stand, a whisk which always overwhisked egg whites, and even a small liquidiser attachment (long since defunct). I replaced the original whisk (even though it didn’t quite fit onto the stand properly) and continued to use it endlessly. The third and final whisk was a Phillips one belonging to my late mother (she died in 2002, and it was several years old then). It has put in sterling service ever since (although again not fitting properly onto the stand, being a different make). When it finally seized up (after a few warning moans during use) I finally bit the bullet and ordered the modern replacement version. It’s terrific – I now realise that it’s predecessor was labouring to do anything. Mind you, I’ve kept the pyrex bowl! If it lasts as long as its predecessors, I’ll probably be well beyond making puddings and cakes.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI like the chefette but it is not as good as the one I had years ago. Nice and light. Used to be able to move the mixer about in the bowl when it was fixed onto the base, made it easier to mix everything in. It only stays at the edge now so you have a bit in the middle not mixed in. I don’t think it is strong enough to do the bread dough even though it was only a small loaf being made,it does help though.
Overall though it does the mixing of the ingredients once you move the mixture from the middle. Still saves hand holding.

Was bought as a gift for someone. I saw it for 30 more at John Lewis so it was a real bargain and she loved it. Says it’s really easy to use and clean. If I didn’t have a Kitchenaid, I probably would get myself one too!

Love this easy to use, lightweight mixer, the spatula that comes with it is excellent for getting everything out of the bowl, that clean it almost looks like no need to wash the bowl. Hahaha;-)

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is the 2nd time i have purchased the same Kenwood Chefette HM680 Hand Mixer with Bowl.
The 1st one i brought i put in the dishwasher, it melted the glue on the bottom of the mixing bowl and so i could only use the wish by hand as the bowl would not sit properly back in its slot and so the automatic turntable failed and nothing got whisked. However, you can manually hold the whisk which is okay but not so good when you have too many things going on at once. Hence, the 2nd one i have purchased i now only hand wash at the sink.

This isn’t a massive bowl, about 3 ltrs and it is very basic.
It has two attachments, one for whisking and the other for kneading.
It also has a splash guard.
    The bowl does rotate.
Here is some quick info –

    Automatic rotating bowl
    Twin beaters
    Twin kneaders
    Bowl -Polished stainless steel
    Size (cm):27H x 34.5W x 39D
    Speed:5 speeds + Pulse
    Wattage:350W
    Weight:3.2kg
    Functions
    Pulse function
    Release button
    SureGrip handle
    Tilt back head
    Total bowl capacity 3 litres

So if you are happy with a little machine which does reach the bottom of the bowl (and i have tried expensive versions which don’t) then this is for you.
I purchased mine at about 50.00 which was a bargain as the usual price is about 80.00

My advice – don’t put it in the dishwasher and it should last you well.

A nice size if you have limited storage and bake in small batches. The mixer size is fine for making one or two cakes. The bowl rotation it a good feature. I enjoy using the mixer and have not bought a ready made cake since!

Use the mixer for making cakes, sponges, meringues etc. Works fine, albeit being quite noisy in the process. Pity that some of the accessories that had been included with previous models in this range are no longer included (liquidiser etc.)

Im very happy with my chefette.it is easy to use and clean and to all the people asking why it hasnt got a balloon whisk the answer is simple,it doesnt need one.the beaters act as whisks and do a very good job.its no noisier than any other machine and fits into a cupboard.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersBelow is my original review, one year on my opinion has changed. I would not recommend this product as it does not mix well and one is constantly scraping down the bowl. I now use it as a hand mixed for cream etc and am looking for a better machine.
This mixer is not up to the job and in my opinion is only good for cooking with young children on an occasional basis. I am disappointed as I like the weight of it due to disabilities.

    Original review 2019
Purchased to replace a 35 year old Kennwood Chef as too heavy due to arthritis.
This is a lightish machine and I’m quite happy. To be fair I can’t see it lasting like the old one but it’s a quarter of the price.
Good for everyday baking for small family. I personally wouldn’t buy it for bread making as I don’t think it would cope with a lot of dough but I could be wrong.
The bowl rotates when in use. As a hand mixer it’s slightly heavier than some but I will use it on the stand
Word of caution- the beaters attach differently when on the stand than when using by hand.
    Small instruction leaflet explains.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersWe bought the Chefette A360 model in 1979 and it performed flawlessly for many years. Its successor the HM670 is just as functional. You may not get the 50 page ‘Chefette Instruction and Recipe Book’ anymore but clever and useful features like the splash guard and rotating mixing bowl more than make up for that. Kenwood have thoughtfully incorporated a slow first speed, other food mixers we tried had first speeds that went hell for leather sending dust plumes everywhere. For such a low price this machine is excellent all round value.
