Eccezionale
This is a very good light very bright and a good long range. The only problem is trying to change from flood to zoom it’s very tight to turn to the point you may think it has jammed you really have to use brute force. Other than that very good.

Not as bright as they say as only stays on max output for a relatively short time before auto dimming. Not the battery as does the same with a fresh one. Possibly a heat protection feature. Still a great head torch.

Benutze es als Aufsatz fr den Baustellenhelm.
Erfllt alle Erwartunge
Used this on a few overnight camping trips now never failed battery has lasted the night and it’s rechargable it is more than bright enough with the focus wheel being a big advantage so good i ordered another for my wife simply awesome
Awesome bit of kit. Awesome beam of light. Battery lasts ages Well worth the money and very reliable.
The product is good and their customer support is fantastic. I do recommend 100% to buy products from this company.
I bought Ledlenser Rechargeable Headlamp two years ago for my ultra marathon. As the last year’s ultra marathon was postponed to this year, I did not use it for over 1 year. When I tested it one week before the race, it did not switch on.
I contacted the customer support and she was very helpful but I was told to contact their technical support by email. They came back very quickly (within 1 hour) after I sent my email. After giving enough information about the product, I was offered to have a new one to replace as long as I sent the evidence I return the product by email. They said normally they would not send a replacement until they receive the faulty product but they are willing to accommodate me this time because my race was on within a week.
At the end, the switch was just stiff so it started to work when I tried one last time before sending it out thankfully. I therefore did not need to have a replacement.
They were efficient and understanding the runner’s needs. The whole experience was the best I could imagine a company could possibly provide.

I am a lightpainter and needed something brighter especially as I spend a lot of time out in the dark. The light is bright and the focussed beam is useful although you need two hands to focus the beam. Charging is via a micro USB cable although the 18650 battery can be taken out and charged in another charger. Highly recommended.
Top class product. Ideal for running over winter, so much better than a regular headtorch
Perfect for winter dog walks. Bright and extremely lightweight too.
I have been using it for months now extensively, every day. I have droped it down couple of times, it is still ok. It is bright enough, lightweighted enough, confortable to use it.
I couldn’t get over how bright the light is , very pleased with it ! A very good investme
The good performance I have come to expect from LED Lenser the focused beam certainly doesn’t lack in range and it always stays bright for my outings. It is comfortable to wear and not too heavy. One minor niggle is the focusing ring seems to stick if turn to its full travel.

A very versatile piece of equipment for use in the dark. Very good light coverage giving bright and clear field of illumination. Highly recommended.
I use this every day, the variable brightness settings are great, on full power it is really bright, on low it’s perfectly suitable for getting about and doing most tasks.
This item there was no dislike about it it very lightweight to put on your forehead the brightness is excelle
Purchased for mum’s Christmas present and its perfect for dark winter nights… the zoom is stuck however I seen on here someone was able to loosen it so I hope that works
A fantastic product. Reliable and hard wearing. But as the battery is used, the brightness dims reducing its effectiveness. The built in usb charger means this is great for travelling – other models have bespoke chargers which are great until damaged, lost, or you often travel.
OK so firstly the money scared me a little, I’ve never spent this type of money on a torch but after alot of research I decided it might be worth it. I have bought many cheaper head torches for work and walking the dog so hoped the research paid off and it has. Wow this is a great torch. On delivery I found it well packaged and it looked great and felt quality. I popped the 18650 battery in my charger and waited for the night time dog walk. Popped the battery in and switched it on, its bright. It was on the wide setting so turned the focus ring to get a much narrower beam of light that illuminates a long way in the distance. People have mentioned the focus ring and how hard it is to turn straight out of the box but I think they must have sorted this now because mine is smooth when turning, not loose but feels well engineered. The blurb suggests the battery should last 10 hours on full power and what I can say is the battery has done 3 and a bit hours so far and there is no dimming as yet. Have alot of history with 18650 batteries being a vaper and this is a decent battery, well wrapped and charged well.
This head torch feels quality and I am very happy I paid the money for it.

The battery life is really good and it’s great that it has three power/strength settings. I use the weakest one for reading in bed. After using it daily for weeks I decided I better charge it even though there didn’t seem to be any need.
I had a head light by the same brand and it was great but a bit heavy on batteries which had to be replaced regularly. By buying this slightly more expensive, rechargeable version, the light will pay for itself within the year in the form of batteries I won’t have to buy.
I use it for: getting in the coal on cold winter nights, looking for things in the loft, walking the dog at night, running at night, an occasional night hike, as a foreground illuminator for night photos, and reading in bed. It’s one of those things I’ve come to think of as essential.
Using my previous light resulted in my, on a few occasions, finding money on the road at night when walking the dog.
If you’re like me then I think you need this product. It will enhance your life :).

Previously had an H7.2 (which has been fantastic) but needed even more lumens. The H8R is significantly brighter. For those wondering what the difference is between the H8R and the MH10, well the MH10 comes with coloured filter caps and a pouch. Be aware that when you first put the unit on charge, the charging light (which also doubles up as the rear LED during normal use) may incorrectly show green. Seeems as if it needs a full first charge to calibrate.

Great head torch, comfy to wear and nice and bright.
Bought for winter overnight beach fishing. I’ve had several headtorches going back over the years, spent hours altering and boosting Petzl battery power and halogen bulbs years ago.. different World now! This headlight is light, powerful and a quality build. Forget the cheapo Chinese mega lumen claims, this genuine 600 Lumen adjustable spread beam has quality optics and robust construction with an efficient alterable bezel angle. It’s brilliant (pun fully intended).
I am amazed how long the 3000ma battery powers this thing! Used at 5’C for 10 hours, it still had good useable light for illuminating a large area and watching the rods, much of this time was spent on full power! But the ‘medium’ setting which I’d guess is around 70% is plenty. Obviously it got slightly dimmer over the hours but I’ve never had anything last that long with so much output. I’d taken 2 more 3500ma batteries and never used them but know it will easily run dusk till dawn flat out in the freezing temperatures with a swap. I charge it with my Apple usb plug, or put the battery into a dedicated charger. Don’t know about the long warranty quality but the fact they offer 5 years shows confidence.
Amazon had a good deal on when I bought mine, so fish round and put the extra cash to and step up from the junk out there.
Once I’d used it I was impressed enough to buy another!

This is a very bright light on full power – but, this tails off to medium after 5 minutes. At first I thought this was a fault but after contacting Ledlenser technical support, you have to set the torch to mode 3 (hold the on switch on for 16 seconds and wait for 3 flashes). NB I noticed other posts have mentioned this as problem – the instructions could be clearer. At first, I didn’t think you could focus the lens – the focus bezel was jammed so tight I thought I might break it – I sent it back for this reason but the replacement was only slightly better. Again, other posts mention the same problem – Ledlenser agree there is a problem here – you can either send it back or they suggested try a little WD40 !!!!! Out of curiosity, I checked Ledlenser’s website for replacement batteries as a back up – there are two similar type batteries listed for the H8R/P7R but neither is an exact match of the battery supplied. The technical department confirmed either battery is suitable but you’re better off with the 3000mHa version as this lasts longer. Having said all this, I also own a P7R and the H8R and they are great lights – Ledlenser needs to fix the bezel issue and explain mode dimming better in their poor “quick user guide”.

After a month of wearing on a hard hat this is what happened and for something that cost so much I expect it to last but battery last 6 hours and I bought two spare but never had to used them and the light is super bright I have to give it that BUT its broken 🙁
Very bright and great value with a 7 year guarantee when registered
Used on a 50k Ultra marathon and it did everything we needed it to. Will be using it for a 108k ultra around the Isle of Wight next year… very happy
Super powerful light with a really long battery life. Really handy when camping. Comes with a 7 year warranty too.
This review is the H7.2 non rechargeable. It takes 4xAAA cells. This way i can fit dry cells or rechargeables as i wish (although i have to charge them separately). This unit is to replace my old H3 which is now falling apart. The old had a better focus mechanism, but the tilt is better in this one.
The H7 battery compartment is overly large and poor design. Firstly, they should fit 2 or 3x AA and not AAA. This would be better for battery life (AAA=1000mAh vs AA=2400). And if 2xAA, smaller and lighter. Even 2AA would be more energy than 4xAAA. Secondly the rigid back plastic cover is a pig to remove without breaking the tabs, which i can see will happen at some point. My old model had a rubber battery cover, which was awesome. I suppose this cost a fraction of a penny more, but then aren’t these supposed to be premium units?
I read some reviews saying the unit sometimes switches on when put in a bag. This just happened to me. Hopefully, this might be rare and i was unlucky. But i don’t like the idea of the batteries being dead the moment i need it! Something to watch.
Overall, the head lamp is pretty good. It’s nice and bright. You can vary the brightness, the angle and the focus (ie beam width). It’s more bulky than my old model, so make sure the straps are tight.
I looked at all the more expensive rechargeable models, but i don’t want that. I usually use two sets of rechargeable batteries. When one set give up, i swap in the other to finish the job.
Tipp: LEDLENSER immer online registrieren. So erhaltet ihr 7 Jahre Garantie.
Fantastic light light weight great for my farm work in Thailand at night battery get hot when charging
This LED Lenser H3.2 is very well built very lightweight and puts out an amazing amount of light. I use the long beam to route find on the hills and mountains and it’s super impressive, much better than any of my friends head torches. The batteries last ages and are easily replaced on the move if needed. I own 3 LED Lenser head torches and they are all equally as good. I use this one for summer and the larger H7.2 for winter. The price of them all compared to other brands is great too. Just buy one, you will be impressed
I found the maximum power mode is maintained only a couple of minutes and jumps to medium powe
Used when working on trucks. Good for the price. Held up working in the rain in quarries. The battery life is good but not the best. Coupled with the fact I constantly find the red light on at the back. It’s so easily knocked on when putting it back in my toolbox or against something under the truck.
Great wear out of it though. Elastic still holding strong. The build quality is good.
You get what you pay for. Lightweight but robust, strong light and great balance so it doesnt shake off your head regardless of the terrain or pace
Brilliant, second lenser head torch and always seem excellent quality and value for money.
I use this mainly for running in the dark and working in low light. The beam focus is great, allows you to quickly and finely move between wide angle and spot beam with all options in between and I’ve not found that the adjustment creeps with the vibration of running. The ability to recharge via USB rather than replacing batteries is useful and the dial on the back allows fine adjustment of the brightness with ease.
The negative points are certain aspects of the build quality/design. After being dropped a couple of times the latching tab on the battery pack has snapped off, it stays together as the elastic straps also hold it in place, but it’s not sealed tightly anymore. The foam pad that contacts your forehead has also peeled off reducing the comfort somewhat.
Comparing it to a similar Petzl (the Myo RXP) it has more in the way of features and adjustment, but is not as robust.
LED lensor still have the best optics in the business, there’s naught more to say.
I have decided to buy this headlamp to replace my 110v site lights. And you know what – it does the job perfectly. No more cables anymore. I have head this light for already maybe 6 months and no issues so far. I am wall and floor tiler so I need a good bright light. That headlight gives me really a good bright light. Battery life is amazing too and it holds the charge for about 10-12h. I always use the light on with the most powerful beam. The original battery always can be upgraded with even more powerful battery if you need it. Or you can buy a spare battery with another charger too. Warranty terms are amazing too. No more cheap unbranded products or you may have to pay for them twice 🙂

Love this light, bought as replacement for a cheaper light that was losing duration due to non replaceable battery. The light is VERY bright, just what I needed for the poorly lit areas where I have to secure my loads (I’m a trucker). The headband keeps the light securely in place on my bump cap.
The battery is rechargeable in place using the supplied cable but I just use the 18650 charger I already own. I always use full brightness for a couple of hours a day and have found I only need to recharge it once a week.
The switch is very easy to use while wearing the light.
The only problem with mine is that the ring to adjust from wide angle to spot is unbelievably stiff until it starts moving, then it moves easily. Once left for a few minutes an attempt to change beam angle is again initially extremely stiff.
All in all a great work ligh

This is an excellent head torch so bright and great distance . Our dogs get a walk before bedtime we live in the countryside and this torch is the best one we have had cant recommend enough
Wow it’s so bright be careful not to look straight into beam. If you are doing any wiring with power off this is essential also when in loft finding long lost things. Adjusts well both beam size and intensity.A bit fiddly to charge with mini usb so keep it topped up
Absolutely ideal, work 12 hour shifts in dark spaces and this never fails to perform
This is a good torch but is beam focusing function is stiff and at first i thought didn’t work at all. I m=imagine using it whilst placed on head being v difficult. Nearly returned before double checking it worked at all. .
Love this head torch, has great battery life, very bright and is rechargeable. Very versatile, I use it for everything from working in fields at night where you can focus the beam to see far away to working on my car in the dark where you can adjust it to have a soft light you can use at close range. You can use it as a rechargeable torch for take the battery out and use AAA batteries which, although I havent had to do this, could come in handy if you either need to use it for a very long time or are going tk be somewhere where charging isnt an option. I have had this for over a year now, I left it over summer unused and the battery doesnt seam to have suffered at all. I charged it up a week ago and still havent had to recharge it yet.
Have had a lot of head torches but this one actually works and is brilliant and brigh
Super Stirnlampe.
When I first got this it was a brilliant product I used quite frequently for either working outside in the dark or for walking/hiking and shooting pursuits in the dark. It had initially a good battery life.
I then didn’t use it for around 4-5 months and charged it up but it only lasted around 15 minutes before it went flat. I have tried recharging the battery several times and now it barely operates for more than 20 seconds which is a shame as a new battery is in the order of around 17-22. I also found that when not in use it can easily be knocked which then turns it on and so quickly drains the battery. I now use AAA rechargeable batteries and remove them when im not using it and it continues to work well.
Quality product, good price & delivery. If you’re in the market for a head torch and you can afford better than the 2.99 one you can get from the garage, like a lad called Damo that I know, that eats triple A’s like a Range Rover drinks super unleaded then you need to get one of these. Unless you like false economies, like Damo, then go for the one from the garage that’s probably breaks when you take it out of the box. 10/10.
I use mine for close inspection & confined space access work on power stations and the like and a decent head torch is a must. Happy see where you’re going in the dark if you’re not tight.
Again high price point and something I didn’t know if I would need but have used now on numerous occasions, usual quality from Ledlenser, can’t fault anything about this item
.
I have had this headtorch for 2 years and it has worked well.
It is true that you need to read the manual to fully understand some funtionality – like the very long press to Lock/Unlock it but once you know, you know !
My only very minor negative against it is that it gives me a headache if I wear it for too long (> 1hr or so) but that’s probably true of any device held on your head with an elastic strap. If the strap isn’t tight enough then it would fall off so hardly unique to this particular head torch.
After buying 4 or 5 cheaper head torches that didn’t last or had poor battery life, this is a good example of “You get what you pay for”.
I like it and recommend it.
.
I’m now on my second headtorch after the first one was stolen.
I had the regular version first (the non rechargeable version) but got tired of paying for batteries and eventually the power line from the battery case to the lamp failed, so upgraded to this rechargeable one…
And just over 12 months of buying it, I’m now having issues with the on and off switch…
Hoping to be able to get a replacement or at least repaired!
So that’s out the way, other than being a bit bulky, which takes some getting used to. This headtorch is absolute beast, I’m a keen festival goer, angler and cyclist… so this comes into its own quite often, the “lighthouse” of all headtorches as my friends say. The battery life is impressive, the variabness of the lamp, from minimal light, to aircraft landing light. Clean and clear variable focus…
Functionality to become a floodlight essentiallay by being able to remove the lamp from the straps to attach to a pole and use a pressure click button along the power line is a nice feature.
Being able to use regular AA batteries if the rechargeable one dies is always handy too prob make things a little heavier though.
Doesn’t seem to mind getting wet either, from rain anyway… I’ve not tried swimming with it! Lol!
Oh, one last thing, whenever I’m out on my bike at night and come across people working (road works and recently council workers doing the Xmas lights), I’ve lit them up in comparison to what they use… the 1000lm is real haha!
Think that’s about it, always loved LED lensor stuff and always will! Just hope I’ve been unlucky with the faults over time…
Super bright, super light- brilliant for nighttime running and walking
Amazing performance when out for walking the dog early in the morning. 3-step brightness is useful. Lightweight and comfortable to wear.
I purchased this Headtorch for work purposes and after 18mths it’s worked very well until now. Although the torch and battery pack are still working the charging port has failed due to the contacts inside the charging port breaking away and stuck inside the USB charging cable. I now have to purchase rechargeable batteries. This is the only disappointment I have with this device. My colleagues recently purchased this and after 1 week has had the same failure with the charging port on the battery pack.
***UPDATE*** Contacted the supplier about the damage and was given the contact details of the service team. Within a few minutes of explaining the situation to them a warranty form was sent explaining what I needed to do. 6-7 days later a brand new H7R.2 headtorch was sent. I highly recommend this torch and manufacter enough. 5star product, 5star service.
I would highly recommend this for working in the motor trade. If you MOT, it gives you both hands free. For working on vehicles when you would normally use and hold a torch this takes away the frustration of not having both hands free and the torch not falling over. I do not use it all the time but it does come in handy. I use to think I’m not wearing that at work but have since moved to a place where everybody uses one. So, no silly remarks.
One of the biggest advantages for this would be for the person who works on cars/vehicles at home or on the floor. Working on the floor or in confined spaces and trying to hold a light can be difficult. This is the answer.
If you wore it all day, the lower setting would last but on full power which is amazing, better than any torch I have had it is obviously going to lose its charge.
Brilliant! Living off-grid in a little caravan, I have used it every day for months now. It is ultra-reliable, charges so easily and gives a fantastic light, which is consistent for hours. I’m getting a little bit worried about the elastic, that’s all. But I can’t imagine finding a better item for the price. I still haven’t figured out all the various settings, which seem to be spoiling one for choice, and which I seem to accidentally alter sometimes, but it still doesn’t matter.
UPDATE It’s been brilliant, since 2016, until now. The surround of the micro-USB charging socket has now spilt and battery no longer charges. And there is no option to contact the seller.
My initial impressions are that this is an extremely powerful and well made lamp.
Out of the box, it is quickly apparent that this is constructed to the highest standard – although it is plastic, it feels very strong and has a good weight (isn’t too heavy, but doesn’t feel cheap either).
It has some nice features: it includes a rechargeable battery and charger, although it will recharge from any USB port, it has an extra strap over the top of your head to hold it firmly in place, and the battery back can be removed and put on your belt (an extension cable is included).
The lamp itself is fully adjustable – it will tilt downwards 90 degrees, and it has an adjustable beam (from flood to zoom),
The most noticeable feature of this lamp is how powerful it is – at full power it is exceptionally bright (do not look into the beam!) and I can’t think of any situation where you would need anything brighter.
However, there is a big downside – the instructions are shocking! The included diagrams will frustrate and confuse you, and from what I can work out are misleading at best, and in places wrong. That said, I was able to locate the full manual online (with the help of Google – the included QR code which I assume is meant to link to the manual is a dead link!) – with the help of the manual all became very clear very quickly.
Although the item itself is clearly a 5 star product, the woeful instructions make it barely a 4 star!
Pros.
The adjustable lens allows for a good floodlight or spot depending on what you require at the time. A variety of light output settings is very useful and the ability to lock the switches to prevent accidental use make it great for toolbags etc; although a built in clip on the adjustment buckle allow it to be clipped to bags or belt loops easily. The torch is relatively lightweight and quite comfortable, and as well as being supplied with a li-ion rechargeable battery, the battery pack is able to take standard AA batteries; although the li-ion battery life is good even on full power.
Cons.
I have a big head, which means the cable from battery to light is under tension (even with the coiled section of cable) and either pulls the light or the battery around to the side which is rather annoying. The li-ion battery takes several hours to recharge even with the supplied wall charger, which means I usually leave it overnight.
This is the second unit I have bought in the last couple of years, it is well made and the battery power is very good and lasts for ages. It’s not the cheapest head torch but it delivers exactly what you want, great bright beam which can be adjusted to give a very large area coverage or refined to a smaller beam, the lamp can be tilted down via secure variable position hinge. The beam has two power settings which are set by pressing the on /off switch a couple of times and offer a half power and full power setting which are then further adjustable from the battery pack via a rotatable switch. The battery pack is mounted on the rear of the headband, it also incorporates a red light which is not really suitable as a rear lamp for Cyclist use as it’s not bright enough, but it is fine for following eg. walking in a group. As far as head torches are concerned it does exactly what I need it to do which allows me to work with my hands and have a directional light pointing where I need it and all at a price that’s fair.
Best head torch I have ever owned. I’ve used it running several nights a week for the past month or so. The battery pack is lightweight and fits nicely around the back of my head. I was originally worried that it doesn’t have a a third strap over the top, but I needn’t have worried as it’s very secure. The battery took a few hours to charge first time, but now I just top it up and takes an hour or so. I use it on 3/4 or full beam most of the time for at least an hour and everyone comments on how bright it is. The brightness is adjusted by turning a small knob on the battery pack, which also illuminates red, which is a nice touch. I can certainly illuminate everything in front of me, even when pitch black. The torch can be angled nicely. Only slight and I mean slight negative for me is the beam can’t be focussed like the hand held torches. However, the beam is wide and gives a good spread ahead of the area I am running.
So I’ve used this a few times now and so far I’m pleased with how it works.
The light adjusts easily with the dial on the back.
The dial also doubles as a red light for if your walking in a group.
The button on the light itself when held down goes to boost mode. Tho it takes a few seconds to do so.
The light is very good and ok to adjust seems to get stuck sometimes when going back to wide been.
One of the things to watch is it is slow to charge. I have a car USB charger and had it plugged in all day. Not sure how long it will last but I have used it alot and still going after one charge.
I have something of an obsession with torches …. its sad to say . but this has to be one of the most useful i own!
I normally dont like ‘head torches’ as such , always thought of them as a little geeky and of limited use …
oh how wrong i am .
i recently took the family on a camping trip … i took a myriad of illuminating devices – being obsessed and all – gas lanterns , led strip lights , multiple hand held torches … but this was the most useful whether it was checking the guy lines , walking the kids to the toilet , making a cup of tea under the stars , or changing my baby’s bottom at 3am , with the dimmer and zoom functions of this beautiful piece of kit nothing seemed impossible … unfortunately for me , my wife caught on to the wonder of the h7r.2 and promptly relieved me of it for her own gains …. que a navy seal’esque retrieval mission … ok maybe not so dramatic but she did take a liking and i fear ill have to buy her one too …
5/5 for packed size
5/5 battery life
5/5 brightness (and dimness where applicable)
5/5 ease of use
Really great product. Would recommend to anyone who does night work – especially any ecologists like myself who could also use this when working in lofts. The function to turn the brightness up or down is really really useful too. It uses batteries as expected, I have now bought rechargeable ones to go in it but it certainly hasn’t drained the ones that it came with. The fact it flashes three times to let you know that the batteries are running low is also great – it means you are unlikely to be caught short/without any light source. My only issue is that i do find it difficult to turn the ring that makes the beam wider or more focused – it can be done with both hands but i find it near on impossible to do it with one hand which would be more useful.
Have recommended this to friends and colleagues.
So after reading some of the reviews I decided to buy this item. Item arrived and it was in such a tiny box I couldn’t believe it. But nope it fitted in there well with the instructions. The plug had both attachment for UK & USA. (Didn’t know what I was going to get after the comments here) For a torch it’s not the easy thing to work. I’ve mastered the on off and dim modes. However the blinking mode still to figure out. The light itself well that’s bright on full power mode. The only problem with it is that for the price it feels a bit cheap. Doesn’t feel robust. Will need to wait and see if it stands up to the jobs.
Can’t go wrong with this headlamp, I bought a cheap one for 19.99 from my local tackle shop, quickly became apparent that it wasn’t going to cut it, needing 3xAAA batteries twice in a night fishing session.
The shop also had the 350 lumen model for 89.99, so I looked online and found this 850 lumen model for 88. Can’t go wrong!
Powerful and more than adequate for the night fishing on the beach, the different modes are ideal and the battery life can tackle the longest session.
Only one problem I have is the battery pack doesent look like it would be totally watertight of the heavens really opened, I guess time will tell though. Also an option to buy an extra battery would be a welcome thing.
All in all, worth every penny!
Hi all. I do urban exploring and find myself going underground in tunnels and drains etc. This is the best torch I’ve had for light painting etc and brings out your pictures amazing. I’ve got other more expensive torches like nightcore etc but none have the throw from this. This is always my go to torch. I know the price is a bit much but it’s well worth it. My only gripe is it can get a bit warm on your head however a hat solves that. Amazing torch this well recommended with a good spot too.
update: Great in mines also. And with interchangeable batteries buy some rechargeable from here or even lidl are great when they have them. And you never run short. On aa they last a good length of time on full maybe 1hr half or so never really timed it but a while. It’s one hell of a good torch.
Left my review for a while as wanted to ensure it would last. Previously bought a Lenser light that turned out to be a fake and did not last so ensured I bought this directly from amazon so hope it is genuine. Anyway lets say it has been excellent. I use it regularly at work sometimes for distance and sometimes for close up. The life of the battery is excellent and you know when it is going low as it shows orange a the back on switch on. I did carry a set of rechargeable batteries at first to put into it if it ran out of power but do not need them really now. There are quite a few modes but find I do not use many just normal light and intense beam for long distance once in a while. The focusing is excellent and the beam will go in to a search like beam to a wide flood for close work. At work most have bought their own lights and this so far makes any of the others look dim on full beam. Only thing to be wary of is the back button on the power supply used for controlling the rear red light functions and indicating the batter charge level can easily be caught on storage and has resulted in me once coming to find a flat battery when putting on from my locker. Something that does not happen now as I am aware of it and do a double check when putting it in my locker. Bought a set of hat clips to fit it to my hard hat that work great but had to get some for a piezo light as could not find any Lenser ones but they work great. So overall an excellent light the rolls Royce of LED head lamps though you do pay a premium for the quality.
Very powerful lamp, I mean really powerful. Like it a lot, great features, high quality item. I think this is the same type of led like in the mobile phones.
I use it for cycling, running, hiking and it serves me well. The head band may feel small but it’s actually ok. What irritates me a bit is the cable, it seems to be a just bit too short and tends to pull the light sideways. So if I want to have the light central the battery in the back is not. I got used to it now but it is a design flow I’d say. Another bad point would be the option putting the lamp on the cycling helmet. You just cant. The head band is too short and in general it’s not designed for the helmet. But I still put it on for cycling, just not directly on the helmet, not very comfy but does the job.
Delivery spot on and packaging, as expected from Amazon. As for the torch it’s pretty amazing, very bright, I find it comfortable to wear and use. Battery pack and light can be dismounted from the band, and comes with an extension cable (you can see in the picture the connector), it’s a twist and pull affair for security. Not used it dismounted yet, but there is a clip on the back of the light. Four different modes, low, bright, super bright and flash, the red light/adjustment wheel on the the battery pack can be used to turn or down the brightness and increase/decrease speed of the flash. Functions are controlled by this button also, press and hold for 5 secs and lamp will flash once, twice, three times (a lady) to indicate strength of brightness. The button on the side of the light controls on and off, selection of mode and press and hold for timed super brightness. Also main lamp can be locked so that it isn’t switched on in pocket, bag etc.
Some bad points are, charging time is crazy long from empty, I ran it dry last night, put on charge at midnight, it’s 12 noon now and still not charged. The mount for the lamp causes a lot of heat to build up, from me and the lamp and irritates me with sweat and the red lamp is easily turned on in a pocket, bag etc, and it’s so dim it has very little purpose. Battery pack is awkward to close (for me) and catches a lot. The instructions are badly translated and functions not explained properly (neither have I really, it’s just what I’ve learnt from messing with them).
Overall a great torch though, recommended, especially for outdoor use, still great in an engineering environment as well, as it’s so bright, it reduces shadows, hard to explain really,
Hope this helps.
I bought this to replace an old led lenser head torch and opted for rechargeable as I was sick of putting batteres in the old one.
It’s not cheap but it is a good bit of kit, it feels like a premium product when you get it out of the box. Recharging is via a standard micro USB cable (supplied in box with USB mains adaptor but will work with any) so you can charge at home or in the car if you have a USB cigar lighter adaptor.
The initial set up was not intutive. There are a couple of dfferent modes depending on how you want the brightness to be controlled and the process to switch between them involves pressing certain buttons many times, it’s not hard but you will never be able to remember how to do it without getting the instructions back out again. Thankfully for me it was a one off experience.
The battery case will accept the supplied rechargeable battery or normal AAs (maybe AAAs, not sure as never used them) so if it runs out of charge you aren’t stuck in the dark with a useless torch.
On max brightness I get maybe 1.5 hours of use per charge, you can extend this considerably by turning it down as it really is very bright.
The only negative for me is the control box is fixed rght at the back of your head, you can’t adjust it to one side at all. I’m a mechanic and often use this while laying under a car and so the box hits the floor all the time and presses the main button which sits pround on the box.
Pressing the button on the battery box turns on the rear red LED. It has 3 modes; on, off and flash. The problem is it stays on even when you turn the main torch off, so I have occasionally switched it on by accident and not noticed and then put the torch away only to find the battery run down when I next come to use it.
Pleased with it on the whole though, would buy again.
After recently getting more seriously into wild camping with some friends, my 5 head torch from a supermarket didn’t live very long with regular use and bad weather. I knew I wanted a CREE chip version, as I’d seen a friends CREE bike lamp and I was blown away at what a single LED from this manufacturer could do. A lot of the CREE LED versions on here however seemed to originate from China with some worrying reports of the 3.7V batteries getting very hot and/or exploding. Aside from having my head exploded (that would knock at least two stars off a review) I didn’t fancy the 4 to 6 week wait for delivery either! Priorities. That and not being able to use standard AAA batteries in a pinch
So as I always do, I started off with a 20 budget version in mind, and ended up blowing way past it for this model from a reputable EU manufacturer and UK stock. But I am so glad I did. This head torch ticks all the boxes.
The next day delivery was just that. Ordered at 4pm Wednesday, and got the locker collection code for pick up 12:30pm next day.
It is well made, and whilst it is plastic and not aluminium like higher price-point versions, it does not have any worrying flex or rattle. The hinged beam angle adjustment seems firm and unlikely to move when jostled about, but could have done with being a little stiffer. The focus adjustment ring is not too lose, but is not so stiff you’ll struggle to adjust it with wet gloves on. I like the rear battery pack which gives a better balance over my old front mounted version, plus the rear flashing red LED is a nice touch. The cabling from the battery pack seems of high quality and unlikely to cause me any problems.
Suitably impressed with build quality, I inserted the battery pack and charged it up. I had to do this using my own HTC phone charger, as the one supplied was an EU 2 pin plug, not the 3 pin UK version. It took a little over two hours to charge (but this was not from flat), and the LED indicators in the control wheel indicate charging state. Red for charging, green for charged.
I knew from my mistake with my friend’s aforementioned bike lamp not to look into a CREE lamp when turned on. Even trying this out in daylight in my front room impressed greatly. It goes incredibly bright, and has an even light spread throughout its entire focal range. At night time it’s more than you’ll ever need for seeing where you are going on foot. For close tasks you really need the lower settings or it is uncomfortably bright. Thankfully not only do you have a ‘HIGH’ and ‘LOW’ option, with each option you can tune the brightness further by adjusting the dial on the battery pack. You get a helpful blink of the beam when it reaches Max and Min values.
One nice sensible touch is that the power cycles from OFF to LOW mode first by default, before going on to HIGH modes. This lets you use the night-vision-saving setting without having to ruin your night vision cycling through other brighter modes first. It also remembers which intensity setting you had LOW on previously, so if you had the setting turned way down to preserve night vision, it will still be on that setting even you if had switched to a higher mode and made adjustments. Someone at LED Lenser was thinking when they made this. It is appreciated! It is possible to swap this sequence about though if you would prefer the torch to go from OFF to FULL first. There is a decent notched feeling between dial settings, so again there is no trouble using this with wet gloves.
Although I don’t see this being a problem for me, there is another feature to prevent accidental activation if it’s in a bag. With the torch off, long-press the power button for 5 seconds and it locks the torch off. It takes another 5 second long-press to release the lock. Personally I find the power button stiff enough to be unlikely to accidentally activate, but the feature is there if you want it. A long press with the torch already on activates a timed BOOST mode which maxes lumen output temporarily. I have not timed this, as personally so far HIGH mode on its own is plenty for most tasks. I suppose if you really need to find that gate across a field at night, this is the mode you want.
Cleverer still, you can decide how the torch handles it power delivery. You have two options. The economy mode will let the brightness gradually decrease in line with charge from the battery pack. This will prolong the use you get out of it before it needs charging at the cost of light output towards the end of the charge. The other mode keeps brightness at whatever setting you have selected for as long as the battery can keep that up. Obviously you’ll get less notice when the battery becomes exhausted. The battery low warning is three blinks of the beam every 15 seconds.
Having only used this on one outing so far, I cannot comment on battery life so I’ll update when I have to do my first charge. I will also charge it up off my portable 22400mAh battery pack from the 2.1A output to see if that helps charging times. This was another reason I chose this head torch. It is another device that can charge off micro USB. So far though, it has gone through two full nights of use which I estimate to be 12 hours with various settings (mostly LOW) and is still as good as when I started.
I can’t think of a single reason not to recommend this torch. Buy with confidence.
I have previously owned the following headtorches
Petzl Myo XP (80 Lumens claimed)
Alpkit Gamma (88 Lumens claimed)
Alpkit Manta (100 Lumens claimed)
No-Name Lenser H7 copy (160 Lumens claimed)
A no-name 1600 lumen CREE XM-L T6 monster that isn’t that feasible for running with which is what I want a headtorch for.
I can say therefore that in my frame of reference, the Lenser H7R.2 is an exceptional torch, obviously Lumens claims should be treated with a pinch of salt but the HR7.2 is significantly better than the H7 copy which itself is significantly better than the Petzl and Alpkits.
The rechargeable battery takes a while to charge by Micro USB but I like the fact that it uses such a common adapter, in an emergency the rechargeable unit comes out and can be replaced by AAAs instead which is also a nice touch. Initially the size of the battery compartment ws something I noticed but soon forgot about when running. One downside is that the manual is printed in tiny text and I haven’t been able to find a (full) manual online.
