Bought these led bulbs to replace my normal ones to save on energy. These seem brighter too. Just hope they don’t fuse too quickly. Only time will tell.

Just right. Made of glass – good for heat dissipation opposed to plastic. Warm white nice colour, and 120 perfect for ceiling. Couldn’t believe these are only 4W I have had 5W that appear less bright.

Bought these for a neighbour as she had Tungsten halogen bulbs all round her kitchen that gobbled power and of course got very hot. After I fitted them for her she was amazed how bright they were and couldn’t believe how little they consumed. Only time will tell how well they last. One pack of 10 did the 9 she had in her kitchen and one for her bathroom. will need to get a couple more for when the other tungsten halogen ones in the bathroom blow.

Now maybe it’s me, but out of the 10 in the box all of them work. The only problem is they don’t all give off the same colour here. Some are warm (which is what I wanted) however some are white light . Maybe a mix up in this batch. I can’t judge longevity and reliability yet only been using for a month or so. If colour of light is important then you need to check all of them upon delivery

I can’t comment on longevity at the moment as we only just started using this product.
    But the brightness is unbelievable.
    Lights up like bright daylight.
And so far is seemingly very energy efficient.

These are not only more power efficient than the Phillips LEDs from 7 years ago (the tech has improved significantly!), but the colour temperature was higher and much more suitable for a kitchen. They are very bright. So much so that I did not install them in our house entry as they would have been too bright there.

My only concern is that these flicker. Not many can see them flicker, but I can. And the flickering is more obvious when you move (like when whisking an egg). It is sometimes a bother to me and could be a major issue for some people. This is likely a problem with the way in which pulse-width-modulation is being used to control the energy use of the LEDs and should be mixed by the manufactures.

On the whole a good buy and these lights have made the kitchen a better place to work in!

Given five stars actions the board but it is really hard to say how energy efficient they are or how long they will last as they have only been in a week.
So five stars are for how they look lit up. Bright… very…. and warm. Not fluorescent in colour or blue…. warm!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am very happy with these bulbs. I like the warm colour, because it feels more homely. The cold white is too harsh for a home
I cannot comment on their energy efficiency, or longevity, because I haven’t had them long enough. I have had other LEDs like these, and I am slowly replacing all halogen downlighters with these

Replaced 8 existing GU10 standard bulbs with these, its like daylight in the kitchen now, they’re very bright. Also, old bulbs were 28w each so all ights on was 224w. All lights on now = 32w, so, massively more light but only using one 7th of the electricity.

Brought a further 10 for father in law 4 years after initial order for kitchen. None of the 8 replaced in 2017 have blown but father in law wanted more ‘just in case’. Excellent light coverage as so far extremely durable.

The lamps look and feel well made and produce a very nice bright warm white glow. They will take some getting used to from the previous Halogen lamps but on first impression they’re excellent. Great brightness, value for money and energy efficient. 4 starts for longevity as cannot accurately say since they’ve only been in for 24 hours.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersGreat lightbulbs, when I purchased these lightbulbs I had a smart meter and could see the lightbulbs that were in when I moved into the property cost me around 20x the amount that these lightbulbs cost. For me they were a great alternative to the lightbulbs I already had and were equally bright, I prefer warm light to cold light and they were perfect for their intended use.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersBought these to replace a set of 5 50W equivalent LEDs in the kitchen that I’d installed 8 years ago. We were down to only three working though, so I thought I’d replace them all. These were great! Literally a third of the price of the original bulbs, and the wide angle gives the kitchen less of a nightclub feel than before.

The last lot were 3000K while these are 2700K and they’re a noticeably yellower. Like they’re incandescents really, but that’s fine by me.

Let’s see how many of them make it to 8 years like some of the last ones did… We use the kitchen lights maybe 8 hours a day on average I’d say.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI have six ceiling lights in my utility room, and always used halogen bulbs. I thought I’d give these led bulbs a try after my son-in-law (a qualified electrician) recommended I should like the better light from them. He was right, the difference is amazing. The led bulb is a brighter better light altogether. I’m glad that I changed to led bulbs.
I have only used them for about four weeks now, so I can’t comment on longevity yet.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersSummary:
I purchased these to replace my old Halogen bulbs (as most people are these days) and wanted to get the same Lumen and colour to keep the look of the rooms.
These 10 LED bulbs did the job yet all together all using less energy then a single Halogen.
Nothing about this ‘cheaper’ brand was off and all bulbs worked without issue. Highly recommend.

    Looks:
As you can see by the attached pictures, the LED bulbs do have… a ‘look’ to them. But I think I shall get used to it more overtime. It doesn’t effect functionality other then there is less of a ‘lip’ vs the Halogens so if you accidentally look up, you will go blind for a few seconds where as the old ones were more sunk in.

    Brightness:
Brightness level wise, they do seem way brighter yet being the same rating but that isn’t the end of the world.

    Colour:
I brought the same K value as the Halogens and I must say they matched almost spot on. I had an LED and Halogen in side by side and the only difference was the brightness level.

    Build Quality:
All bulbs were well built with what felt like a mix of metal and plastic (maybe some glass). Very solid and even hold up to a mid level drop. Can’t say the same for the Halogen.

    Performance:
So far every one of the LED bulbs in the pack has worked for at least 5+ hours out of the box. When testing the difference before and after, when I went to remove the Halogen, I almost dropped it from burning my fingers! And that was only a few seconds. The wonders of LED, means you can leave it on for hours without it wasting energy on heat.

Weird looking, brighter (yet rated the same) but can't beat the savings

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIt has been just 4 months since I purchased these and so far I have had no problems with them. I have them on for about 14 hours each day. I purchased the warm white colour and I’m so pleased with how well built the bulbs are. Great lighting from the bulbs and a great colour comes off them. Nice and bright which is what I wanted.

The lights energy efficiency (A+++) was a big factor in me purchasing these lights as I’m slowly trying to make my home energy efficient.

    Would highly recommend!

These are inexpensive and bright bulbs. I already use LED daylight and warm light in my house and the thing I notice is that the Warm light version of this bulb is actually a bit too warm, a little yellow/orangy. They make my existing “warm white” bulbs look a bit like daylight. Bear this in mind before buying in bulk.

Golden Review Award: 41 From Our UsersThe best bulbs I’ve ever bought. Arrived next day in perfect condition. Great value (half the price of Asda). I’m happy they are A++ so will save electricity when the kids leave the lights on. I’m expecting I won’t have to change them any time soon as LEDs last much longer than the normal spot lights. The thing I like best about them is the light has a nice soft, warm hue to them. If you look closely at the photos you can see that some of the bulbs are a different colour (cooler white tone). They are ones I bought previously from somewhere else, but the colour is far too harsh & clinical (more suitable for an office environment). They don’t create a cozy, homely atmosphere like these ones.

The best bulbs I’ve ever bought in my life.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI was holding out for a miracle, when 7 of the 8 bulbs in my kitchen went out. I priced up replacements in various shops and couldnt believe the prices.
Having struggled to survive with one bulb for about 2 monts and refusing to part company with the coin the well known establishments were asking for, I took the plunge on these for the great price. My eyes simply couldn’t handle the darkness any longer. I was beginning to turn into a moth, fluttering around the one remaining light source and banging into things over and over.
These were delivered next day, not one smashed bulb, fitted easily and all worked. I’m now having to wear sunglasses on a daily basis until my eyes adjust to bright light again. He said let there be light… and there was. Amazing!

I bought these to replace 8 GU10 downlights in the Kitchen as the traditional GU10 bulbs blow quite often.

Identical in size and length to original bulbs and fit just the same.

Light brightness seems identical to the old bulbs and the light warming is about the same too, so not too harsh.

Only marked longevity as 3/5 as I only fitted them today. They should save a lot of energy compared to running the old 8x50W=400W bulbs.

  52. Anonymous says:

Initially we intended to return as the brightness in comparison to another make Sylvania was slightly lower, but after some use, it does not appear to be that bad, it is marginal, so to fault it would be unfair. As usual it was delivered on time. It saved me hours going into different outlets to check it out. Sylvania were 5 Watts so that perhaps explained the slightly lower brightness. If you are selecting LED, choose 5W if brightness was required, but more importantly you want a narrow angle for disbursement of light, so 40 degree will feel as being much brighter as opposed to 120 degree spread.

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersI bought these to replace the 50W ones I had in the kitchen. What I can say is that they arrived with the speed of light, well packaged, so well done to the seller there. The light in the kitchen is smashing. I wasnt expecting these to be great, but they are the best LED GU10s I’ve ever bought. Only had them in for a couple of weeks so I can’t say anything about the longevity. However with 4 of these in a room and the wide angle they fill the room with light and no dark spots. The colour quality is excellent and as good as Halogen bulbs. There really is no reason to buy Halogen anymore.

Golden Review Award: 63 From Our UsersSo far, so good. It’s rather crazy asking a customer to rate a set of light bulbs immediately after purchase. Is the assumption that if the first one out of the box works that’s enough for 5 stars? The idiocy of product rating in today’s world. You used to just go into a shop, buy lightbulbs, and leave. The shopkeeper didn’t chase after you down the street, or knock on your door, to enquire if the purchase was a good one or not. If the product was faulty, you took it back. If it lasted a long time, you went and bought more of the same….

I’ve randomly given this product 4 stars. They arrived on time and the first one worked. I’ll come back and change this rating after 6 months or so if it stops working …

A friend of mine owns a small shop. She was using 10 Halogen light bulbs throughout the place. She asked me to get her some that were long lasting as the halogen were only lasting around 3-5 months (the cheap ones she was picking up). So I suggested moving to LED as they would also save her energy as well as lasting longer. She makes a saving of around 50p a day by using all 10 of these, and so far not a single one has stopped working! They are also brighter than the halogen ones. Would highly recommend these!

First bought a pack of these over a year ago to use in our kitchen where the lights are on for most of the day and night. Were purchased to replace standard GU10 halogen bulbs which overheated and failed within a few months.

I’m delighted with these LED GU10 replacements. They not only give similar light output to the 50W halogens they replaced but have also lasted around 12 months in almost constant daily use.

This latest pack seems to have a warmer colour output than the previous set – not a complaint, just an observation. ‘Warm white’ is a good description as the light output is probably closer in colour to an incandescent bulb.

In use these run cool and provide good illumination over a broad area (whereas the halogen type were more focused). As an exercise in low-cost lighting, these are definitely a success.

It’s been 5 years now. I’ve had these. The same ones. Thought I’d do an update. Considering my family doesn’t bother turning lights off annoyingly. I had 2 packs. 20 bulbs. Only 4 have gone out. And 3 are dimming. The other 13 are still working strong. For 4 watts ive not even bothered replacing the ones that have gone bad. They still light the room to brightly. When I’m down to 9/10 left I’ll consider Doing a replacement of all 20 for maybe a 3 watt 6000/6500k bulb. These are a yellow white want to try a daylight white now. Anyway. That’s my review on these. Good strong bulbs.

I have updated this to 5 stars as customer services contacted me from my review and offered a refund/replacement. Their service was super and hopefully these bulbs that didn’t were were just a glitch. The ones that are in now and working are lovely and bright.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersRecently had a smart meter fitted, I had 7 GU10 50 Watt bulbs in the kitchen, the smart meter went into the red when I turned them on, replaced with these bulbs with LE GU10 bulbs the meter hardly moved, I changed the bulbs on the advice of the British Gas engineer that fitted my meter, brilliant advice I have purchased another 10 to replace my daughters kitchen bulbs.

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersJust had to replace a total of 22 halogen downlighter bulbs with LEDs for both energy saving, longevity and safety reasons so bought two packs of these.

They produce a nice warm but bright light that makes my dark almost windowless kitchen very bright and airy feeling which is nice.

We have already had a light fitting melt on us due to the very high temperatures produced by the halogen bulbs and thankfully the fuse for the lights blew otherwise it would of went on fire so even though LED bulbs do produce heat it is not even half of the heat that the halogen put out so they are much safer.

Energy saving wise they should make a big difference to anyone coming from halogen to LED but for us with a total of 22 down lighters with all of them on we were using around half a kilowatt of power which is crazy so we look forward to seeing a reduction in our electricity usage.

The lights come well packaged in a plastic container.

These are definitely good quality and value for money. Will buy again.

They worked well in the beginning, and offered nice bright light, but have not lasted anywhere near the 50k stated hours. About 18 months later they pretty much all need replacing (not totally blown but giving very dim light). If they had been on 24hrs a day from purchase, the use would be 16k hours. I don’t think these have even lasted 10k hours, making them pretty expensive and probably more costly than halogen in the long run. Nice while they last though!

Edit – added an extra start to 4. Excellent customer service, who contacted me to sort the problem despite being out of the 1 year warranty. I will be buying another set because I do like the LED light.

I’d say they’re closer to 3000K in colour than the advertised 2700K. But that’s okay, I love 3000K as a colour. One has “failed” in that it’s casing has come a bit loose, but all still shine. There’s no real noticeable flicker because of AC power, what is there is pretty minimal. You get what you pay for I guess. All considered, I’d buy these again, should I need more LED GU10

  75. ConcettaSchell says:

LED-based bulbs that substitute for the GU10 halogen type have become a lot more affordable, and unlike the first types these aren’t either feeble or bulkier than the halogen type. The light isn’t too ‘cool’ either – perfect for kitchens and anywhere you want strong illumination. Add in the energy-saving potential and (assuming the life expectancy is as good as they claim) there’s no reason not to replace all your existing halogen bulbs, either as and when they fail, or even en masse.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersI bought these on 5th October 2015 and have had 8/10 bulbs in since abou that time. None have failed so far. I have just used the last 2 bulbs in new spotlight fittings and was searching for replacements to have in just in case. I will be buying the same bulbs again I think ., They are a great warm white light, no flicker or problems, no buzzing no distortion. We dont use a dimer and from what i udnerstand they would not be suitable for use in one. When i purchased in 2015 they were 18.99 and price not dissimilar now. Recommend.

    – I paid full price for these bulbs and am not one of these ‘for sale’ reviewers who frequently review this sort of product.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersVery bright and low power consumption. I have 8 spot lights in my kitchen which were previously GU10 50W Halogens (400W total). I replaced all 8 lights with these LED lights to reduce the overall power consumption and save a bit of money on electricity bills in the process. I was in 2 minds whether to get the 3000K or 6000K lights. In the end I decided to get the 3000K ones and I’m glad I did because even the 3000K ones are twice the brightness of the halogens so I would probably be blinded by the 6000K ones. I now have 8 of these lights (3.5W each totalling 28W). 400W down to 28W is a big difference and has helped my electricity bill greatly.

I like them, but I don’t love them.

The only negative point for these bulbs are the colour they shine.

It’s very ‘white’ where I’m more used to a warmer ‘yellow’ from conventional bulbs.

Having said that, these lights I speak of are the main lights for our kitchen, we don’t use these lights often as we have lovely under cabinet lighting and the cooker hood lights for moody lighting in the evenings.

    Great value go for it!

    Have a great day 🙂

A very good ‘clinical’ light for the kitchen! They are a full spectrum white light so some might consider it as ‘cold’ light (compared to yellow light from normal halogens). They provide minimal heat (so therefore use much less energy) You wont find the normal warm feeling on the back of your neck when you use these bulbs.

Being LED they do not require warm up time like an energy saving bulb would so they are a great replacement for standard halogens. They work out as 1.80 a bulb which is cheaper than normal halogens and they seem to have a very good life span!

Just remember a 3.5 watt LED bulb replaces a 50 watt haloge

I put off buying led lights as the price was over the top. At 12 for 10 I decided to have a go. I replaced 6 x 50w halogens in my kitchen and bingo – 3.5w equivalent gave more light and softer lighting. My wife is delighted and reviewing the rest of the house. Only down side so far the halogens produced enough heat you needed to open the window, the LEDs don’t produce my heat.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersGreat bulb but they do not last 50,000 hours

    50 watts @ 12 hours a day = 600 Watts per day x 365 = 219 kW @ 0.11 per kW = 24.00 per bulb

50 Watt Halogen will cost about 24.00 per year or 10 bulbs = 240.00
3.5 Watt bulb (This bulb) cost about 1.70 per year or 10 bulbs = 17.00

Assuming you replaced every bulb every 6 months (Which you don’t – They do last longer than that)
Bulb cost per 10 per year = 32.00

    240 – 17 – 32 = 191 over the Halogen costs

I buld 10 bulbs and the first one has failed after 18 months. (Under 10,000 hours)
I will probably still buy again unless there is a better brand available.

    UPDATE
I have used up all 10 bulbs now so the box lasted my 1 year.
Bulb life = on average 7,500 hours based on my consumption on bulbs over the last while.

Whilst time will tell about their long life claim, the fact they are 3.5W is astounding. These are so much brighter than my standard 50W GU10’s that I have. The only downside is that I really don’t need so many in my ceiling now – so may chose not to replace a few bulbs otherwise my rooms may be too bright!! They fit my downlighters perfectly and seem to be exactly the same size as my old 50W bulbs.

Straight swap for the original halogen bulb. Instantly bright and much more so than the halogen bulb. The 3000K bulb I bought is much whiter than the halogen it replaced but looks great with my white walls. LED lights out perform their incandescent counterparts in every way except if you need them to be dimmable. If you need that feature then you need a dimmable type but that isn’t specific to these, LED bulbs are either dimmable or not dimmable by design and it says on the box which type. Cheaper to run, keep existing fittings, instant, inexpensive to buy…I can’t think of a good reason not to change over to LED!

  84. Anonymous says:

Very bright and energy efficient. Very nice colour too – I would say these replicate daylight than ‘warm’, but that’s exactly what I wanted, so no problems there. Only small issue was that one of the bulbs’ glass rim was damaged, but the bulb worked fine and didn’t see any point in sending the whole thing back to replace.

    *UPDATE*
Almost 4 years later, the bulbs are still working. However I noticed that one of them had gone extremely ‘dim’. I replaced this with another (unused) bulb from the same pack and this worked on full brightness. Clearly, over time the leds lose their punch and fade away. I’d say these would last good 2.5-3 years before needing replacing – so still better and more efficient than halogen. Still can’t complain for the price.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis has taken the cost of lighting our kitchen from 500w down to just 35w!

They are well made, solid with no rattles. The light is bright and although these are the warm light version, do not expect them to give the warm light that the halogens did. LED lights are by nature a colder colour temperature. We got used to the different light quickly ad I now really like the way they light the kitchen.

It you are putting them in directional spot light mounts, bounce the light off a wall to soften it.

In conclusion I’d recommend that you make the change. The money it saves on the electricity bill is substantial.

Expensive bulbs, but worth every penny. They give off a bright white light constantly with no flicker that you can sometimes get.

I’ve put 8 of these in the kitchen and while the light is a touch clinical, it works well in the kitchen. The bulbs have lasted well so far – sometime when you put in multiple bulbs, you can get a failure quite early on but not here – all still going strong.

The LED arrangement is a circle around the main perimeter of the bulb and looks very symmetrical when off – obviously not able to see this when the bulb is on!

Very pleased with these, and although expensive, they are something I’d order again as they are probably the best LED bulb I’ve used.

    Highly recommended

I bought this for my home. These bulbs are really bright and very white. That may sound obvious, but…… I live in a pretty dark and old house with beams etc. and I can’t put lights / fittings in the roof space or between the floors. I had been using bulbs from B&Q etc. and thought they were the norm but these are much brighter. The only thing is that they aren’t very soft light – bright means comparatively harsh…. Depends what you want, I suppose.

Ordered 30 of these to replace the 26 GU10s in the kitchen and bathrooms. Really impressed with the light output and the surprisingly warm tone considering what others have said. Based on usage we should see a saving in running costs of around 400 in the first year on a total bulb purchase cost of under 70. That’s the bulbs paid for in under 3 months in real terms. Can’t comment on longevity as I’ve only fitted them today but all of them are working perfectly.

Bit of a tight fit in a couple of the light fittings but eventually persuaded into place. One piece of advice would be to twist them in with gentle pressure around the outside edge – they’re pretty much flat on the underside so they don’t have the resilience of the normal slightly-domed GU10 bulbs as I found out when I put my thumb through one of the more obstinate ones… There seems to be a very tiny variation in length so if you struggle to get one in to the fitting, try another bulb and reuse the open one in another fitting. Took me about 10-15 minutes to change 26 of them on this basis.

I should have made this purchase long time ago! Having energy monitor at home I can confirm that difference between the amount of energy used by standard bulbs and the energy saving ones is massive! The claims that they save 70-90% energy compared with standard bulbs are true. I’m now waging for my new energy bill to arrive to see the difference.
The light they emit is very pleasant: natural, almost daylight-like, nice and bright. The only downside is that now I can see the stain on the carpet my children were trying to disguise!

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI replaced 40 halogen lights (50w) with these a couple of months ago and thought I’d wait to see how reliable they are before reviewing as there are some reviews here which state they fail quickly.

I’ve had no problems and every bulb is still working. The light is definitely whiter than the halogens but I wouldn’t say it was clinical – I like it but I guess this can be quite subjective. To me, they appear to be about the same brightness as the halogens I replaced with the whiter light perhaps making them look a little brighter.

I haven’t had them long enough to comment on their longer-term longevity or their energy usage but I’m hopeful.

Based on my experience, I have no problem recommending them.

    Excelle

I recently went through the process of replacing over 70 halogen bulbs in our new house with these and I am VERY happy with the result.
The vast majority of the bulbs were 12V MR16 bulbs so I had to chop out the transformers and replace the bulb holders as well, it was still well worth it!! (These don’t dim, but I had no need for dimming versions)

These bulbs are the same size as standard halogen GU10 bulbs so will fit the vast majority of sockets and holders. The light output is great, floods the areas very well, just as well as old halogens…..without the wastage!

As far as I am concerned LED equivalent bulbs are now on-par and exceeding halogen and incandescent bulbs so go ahead and get these bought you wont regret it!!!

One small bit of advice is to buy one, fit it and see if the light output is as desired before you invest in a full set of replacements.

Update: As of now (nearly a year after fitting the majority of these) I have had to replace around 7 (out of the 70+ I have fitted) and spotted that the bulbs which are blowing dont have any part number text visible on the front. The VAST majority of the ones I bought do have this text so I assume the Lighting EVER have improved their QC. I still highly recommend these bulbs, still VERY happy with them.

My kitchen has never looked so bright! I bought a bunch of these to replace the 50W Halogen bulbs in my kitchen. I had to convert the lot to 240V from 12V which was a pain, but really needed doing. I fitted 15 of these and then had to spend eight hours thoroughly cleaning the kitchen as they showed up all the dirt I hadn’t seen in years! One small point is that they seem to be a few millimetres smaller in diameter than the bulbs I replaced, and the spring clip retainers that hold the bulb into the downlighter fitting needed a bit of fiddling with to eventually get the bulb to sit level. I am now running all these bulbs for the cost of just one of the old Halogens which should give a considerable electricity saving.

We found the first generation of LED bulbs completely unusable due to the light being too harsh with a bright white colour and very narrow beam.
With these warm white bulbs the colour and spread of light is the closest I have seen to the old halogen bulbs.
Unlike other reviewers we find them to be not quite as bright as our old 50w halogen bulbs but that might just be down to the way we have our spot lights angled across the kitchen ceiling.
Previously we often used the under cupboard lighting in favour of the spot lights but after a week with the new bulbs we are actually using the spotlights more often than we used to do. So we have obviously got used to them.

I bought these to replace 10*GU10 50w halogen downlight bulbs in the kitchen-diner. These LED bulbs are startlingly bright, and it’s hard to believe they’re only 3.5w apiece. We don’t have to worry any more about turning the lights off whenever possible to limit electricity usage. The only downside so far is that the brittle plastic lens of one of the LED bulbs shattered when I pushed it home into the socket; something that I’ve never experienced in the past with the dozens of halogen downlight bulbs I’ve replaced. Overall though, very good value.

Haven’t replaced all my halogen lightbulbs yet but of the 12 in the kitchen 3 were out, put in these led bulbs and immediately noticed a difference in brightness compared to the halogens, will definitely be ordering more . I’ve been buying halogens for years from my local supermarket and they have needed replacing frequently and at the same price per bulb as these leds. Not anymore. Just received my 2nd box of these bulbs, needed in order to replace the last 2 halogens in my kitchen, They have been a good investment and make my north facing kitchen much brighter especially during these cold dull winter days.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese produce a wide beam and good amount of light though I would say a little short of 50W halogen (especially the 12 volt variety). But – good, even lighting and consume very little electricity (according to the Watts rating). The LEDs are arranged in a ring and look natural when lit. Good value too, pleased with the purchase. Mine have been in use less than a month so longevity remains to be established. If fail prematurely I may post an update. UPDATE March 2021 – still working! but less bright than when new. None have failed yet.

I was a bit concerned these bulbs would not be bright enough as they were only 35w but I needn’t have worried. I fitted 6 in my large living room and they are more than bright enough. I had just fitted 2 new light fittings with 3 x 50w halogen bulbs bulbs in each but the light they gave off was yellow and more like individual spot lights so I had bright and dark areas in the room, they also cast shadows everywhere. The wide angle beam on these bulbs light up the whole room top to bottom with no shadows. I could probably get away with just 4 of these bulbs but I like it bright enough to read as well as watching the TV. The light they give out is like a bright sunny day. I would highly recommend these bulbs and for the price they are a bargain.

Golden Review Award: 31 From Our Users.

LE 3.5W MR16 GU10 LED Bulb, even with the saving buying, this lamp is an investment and you are getting the latest generation of LED and its corresponding enhancements. It is appreciated that the longevity quoted for the bulb is rather high. Only long term use will determine the validity of the length life for this item. In terms of performance, it’s got a nice warm tint and makes a fair effort in emulating the light quality of a halogen lamp. The light it emits covers a better radius than earlier LEDs, which seem much more centred. With power consumption the user get low running costs with a good brightness, in terms of light output of 300 lumens. The lamp itself should fit into a standard GU10 Spot Light housing.

As mentioned in another LED lamp review, the Which? Consumer organisation and its published magazine for December 2014, has an article on the fact that LEDs are not lasting as long as manufacturers have been claiming. As they did a large sampling test of lamps. That said recently produced lamps are performing better, although there is still room for improvement. The article should be available on-line – it is worth having a look.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThese seem like a nearly perfect replacement for 50w halogens. They are quite warm in colour and plenty bright enough. They run cool and cheap.

I did try some 6W daylight LED bulbs but they were too bright and the light quality was very harsh.

    These are perfect.

One bulb gone. They are suppossed to last 50000 hours which is 5.7 years of continual use. Probably done only 1% of that, and ive only used 6 of the 10 bulbs. Dock one star for either misleading description or substandard quality control. Otherwise still a good product.

Golden Review Award: 55 From Our UsersI decided to spend a bit of money to save over time and since I have 40 x 50w halogens in my house, I thought I’d save quite a bit by replacing them all. My bathroom is a bit dark so I bought some MiniSun 5w super bright bulbs there (5.50 each) to try to bring a bit of extra light there and then I bought a pack of 10 of these to try them out – will 3.5W be bright enough? I have to say, these ones are better than the MiniSun bulbs. My kitchen has 10 bulbs and I put 5 of these in and left 5 halogens in – these were brighter and just 3.5W compared to 50w!

The bulbs also have a ring shape which does look very good. Honestly, I was really surprised as to how bright they were (Especially at 3.5W) and the colour was very similar to the halogens warm white – so basically everything you would want in a replacement. I ordered another 2 packs and I’ve had 30 bulbs going for a month or so and they’re all fine.

If there was one complaint it’s that there is a very tiny flicker (about 0.1 sec) when you first turn them on, but you have to look for it and I don’t notice it now. I wish I had saved myself 25 and just filled my house with these instead of getting the MiniSuns!

April 2018 Update: I’ve had 30 of these running since May 2015 and I’ve only just had one of these start dying. You really shouldn’t look anywhere else. I’m back to buy more!
