Gift for grandson, he loves this. Great product at great price. Worth mentioning that little tikes should possibly consider adding the wheels to the spindles, the little metal caps are a bit tricky to fit and as a purchaser I would feel reassured from a safety point of view if they came assembled rather than in the separate bits. Had to get my son to fit these

This iconic car is the best, I really like that it has a floor board in it now so my 1 year grandson can be pushed around the garden with his feet safely out of the way, when he gets a bit older you can take the floor board out so he can do it himself.

Beware, there is actually no catch on the door and no holes punched in places where they should be. Instructions could be improved as you waste time hunting for parts which have already been inserted. Incorrect numbers of screws included. Thankfully we did manage to put it together successfully and bought a catch for the door locally so there can be no unintended escape bids.
More care needed by manufacturer to improve quality control and instructions as obviously this product is for children.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am usually a whizz at putting things together but omg this is so hard in so many ways. Needs strength, patience. A lot of the holes are too small for the plastic fittings you have to punch through with a tool they provide and your own hammer. Putting roof on is a nightmare. Still trying to find suitable screwdriver Nd it will need two people. One to hold roof down and the other to screw the hole into all the plastic- and there is no pre drilled hole so make one with a sharp instrument or small screwdriver first. Back wheels- nightmare to get metal hubs on wheel . one end once first wheel has been done but then axle didn’t stay still. I messed up one of the wheels and forgot to put white hub on before metal hub- then couldn’t get metal hub off so one of front axles and wheel ruined. Spent another hour finding a spare parts site- so another 30 later now waiting for spare wheel, axle and bits. Soooooo disappointed are the effort involved. Hope my grandson likes it……. if I can complete, if it dosnt fall apart. Upsetting – not much joy.

Took a team to put it together, however given how much brute force was needed at times it stood up well. The kids do love it- my two are 2 years old and they’ll be using it for some time, but I have to say it isn’t the most manoeuvrable toy so I’m glad I got it on sale.

Excellent item, your usual quality product from Tikes. Easy to assemble. Abit of advice, pre screw the eyes on this product before installing as per instructions. When installed found it hard to screw the eyes together resulting in both screws stripping and the eyes not going together properly, maybe prescrew (I. E. Screw the screw into the holes then remove, then install) holes before installation so they go in easier upon full installation.

I know the advert said these were quite hard to assemble but I didn’t think it would be as difficult as it was. Some small parts to knock on with a hammer and you are never quite sure they are on properly. They do offer to assemble it for you at extra cost but it is expensive, if you can afford it do it ! It took a few hours to read the instructions and then carry them out carefully.

Such a shame this item is such a nightmare to put together, not sure I would have bothered had I of known.. no holes to guid so you literally have to drill your own in the plastic.. months later it’s still half built as I had enough after two hours and I am normally quite good at putting things together.. I do know once they are together it is a great car.. maybe it should come with a warning of nightmare assembly lol

Classic piece of kit. Toddler mostly enjoys getting in and back out repeatedly. As the other reviews say it can be a bit of a pain to assemble and the screws are soft so use decent drivers, or different screws if you can. It is solid though and i think every kid should have one. I like the inner removable tray that stops the kids feet touching the floor, ideal for younger children.

The Cozy Coupe was bought for my twin grandchildren (one girl and one boy aged 16 months). Whilst I had a couple of minor problems fitting it together it was not generally difficult you just had to read the instructions carefully and apply some commonsense. The twins love it and want to be pushed around in it when they are with us. It would be great if they could both sit in it at the same time as it would stop some arguments when they change over.

Not easy to build due to unclear instructions but it’s doable. I mean my brother managed.

The door broke after 2 weeks – maybe he couldn’t fix it up right or the instructions were not clear or its not sturdy enough. Who knows.

But the good thing u can’t get your kids out of this.

Read a few reviews about the car and was a bit concerned about building it. Just to assure other potential buyers, the instructions are clear, easy to understand and you’ll need to be pretty thick not to be able to follow them. A word of caution however, make sure you have a good craft knife/scalpel as some of the mouldings need trimmed. We also bought the trailer which makes the car more interesting and adds another dimension.

This is a great toy. Never goes out of style because of it’s robust quality. My 3 year old son loves it. Assembly was tricky. I advise not leaving it until evening of Christmas Eve, it will take a while but once it’s put together it will survive an apocalypse. Even the most destructive child will struggle to trash this which makes it great value for money. I don’t leave it out in the sun as I know that can fade it and so it’s still looks like new.

Some of my grandparent friends said this was the best toy of all. So I have purchased it for two year old grandson for this Christmas (2018).
I am sure it will be a success but it took grandfather and a friend TWO HOURS to put it together! I kept my head down and got on with making mince pies while it was constructed! It looks terrific (and we have ordered the personalised number plate) but with hindsight we probably should have spent the money on having it put together before delivery!! 45. Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHours of fun (bizarrely!) my daughter loves it and it’s small enough to play indoors as well as outdoors. As mentioned in previous reviews it requires self assembly which is almost impossible without an electric drill (good old Ikea drill came in handy) as the plastic doesn’t have pre-drilled holes. With a drill we assembled it in under an hour. I did it mostly alone but some parts require another person to hold the car in place whilst being drilled. Also some very fierce hammering which can make you feel as though the car will get damaged but the plastic is very sturdy.

    One tough little car!

What can I say but HE LOVES it. After realising I had misread the assembly instructions (handing me the steering wheel with a look of disappointment on his face) it is now in the garden or in the house and much played with. Does need two people to assemble the roof as one needs to press down while the other attaches the screw but I managed on my own.

Golden Review Award: 201 From Our UsersI have to agree with all the comments about construction of this vehicle which to my mind is comparable with the build quality of a Citron 2CV though possibly gives better performance than the 2CV. If you enjoy putting things together with pictograms that neolithic man may have daubed on cave walls, this is the project you have been longing for. Don’t buy the pricier versions as like BMWs you’re only paying for the appearance and not getting any better stuff. It’s impossible to put this together discretely and don’t leave it until Christmas eve as one of the tools required is a hammer. I kid you not, I didn’t even need a hammer for a three door wardrobe from IKEA! The car is what it is though and he seems to like it so tick on the customer satisfaction index there. All thanks to me of course and not the designer of this conveyance who is possibly still brooding in Broadmoor laughing hysterically. The screws seem to be made out of the softest metal known to man, maybe they aren’t metal at all and just very heavily disguised blutack. I’m not sure but what I am sure of is that even the lightest of light pressure will strip the head so badly halfway in that the screw head resembles a rivet and how I laughed as I had to extract it with pliers all the while creating more hazardous metal shards into the car. Building this car definitely didn’t make me swear, kick it or have a large whiskey on completion.* Your kids will like it and you will be a wonderful parent getting it.

*Total fabrication. All of those things happened.

Seriously great fun if your child is into this kind of toy providing you are able to build it for them – or can get someone to build it for you. It doesn’t require massive amounts of skill to construct it. If you can use a hammer and a battery powered drill / screwdriver then you should be able to put it together.

The door doesn’t properly shut which is unfortunate since we thought by purchasing a new one we would get it immaculate. Also after taking the time to assemble it as well. But my son loves it, hence it still gets 4 out of 5. Really sad about the door thou.

  96. TomokoHoss says:

Some of the mouldings are not that good so the opening door does not fit that well and one of the front yellow arms does not lock into place. Not the end of the world and we managed to get it together but expected better.
Missing one washer but other than that everything was present including one extra wheel locking clip which was a good idea.
At first we thought the transfers were missing, as others had mentioned, but we found them folded inside a cardboard packing piece which we had discarded and assume that perhaps this is why others had not found them.
All in all it all went together and it appears to be sturdy and robust just a shame the door doesn’t fit.
