So easy to install looks great at front of house
Firstly, a prospective buyer should be sure they’re buying what they want – do you want a PIR included in its construction, or not? – there’s room for confusion. I’ve recently bought one elsewhere and it has a PIR coz that’s what I wanted but Amazon have a similar one listed without a PIR for similar money.
It is not what you’d call a robust fitting. In truth I’d call it flimsy. It’s attractive, it’s adjustable for time and lux, it’s easy to fit and the light output is perfectly respectable. We know you can’t replace the bulb so don’t grumble about it.
It has a 2 yr warranty and there’s a UK phone number in case of problems (and I did ring them once with a problem and they replaced a defective unit within warranty).
The panels are polycarbonate and very clear but probably easily scratched so take care when cleaning them.
I’ts OK for the money but make sure you get the one with the PIR if that’s what you want.
This is a nice looking lantern. It is made of plastic, which I don’t think detracts too much from its appearance..
It lights up my back yard evenly. At 640 lumens, it has a nice level of brightness to light up the yard at night, without being startling to look at.
It doesn’t come with wiring, so you’ll need to buy that separately. I fitted a wire with a switch to make it easier to turn on and off. I’d say it’s fairly easy to assemble. The one issue I had was with two of the screws, which I found to be fiddly. I even dropped one and had to hunt for it.
The two year warranty is an added bonus.
I love the old-English look of this lamp. It’s so pretty and so quintessentially British. It’s very well made and holds up well even in the brutal wind and rain it’s been subjected to in recent times.
I have fitted this Luceco lamp as a replacement for an older one at the side of my house. Instead of fitting a separate bulb the advantage of this one is that it comes with a pre-installed LED panel which lasts for the life of the lantern. Mine is the top-arm style with the glass panels hanging below the mount and does not have an in-built sensor. It looks smart and does a good job of lighting the area, in fact it is brighter than I had expected and at only 8 watts it is cheap to operate too. The construction is all plastic but it looks as good as the cast metal one which it replaced and I’m pleased with it.
I got this light for my indoor porch as it is a small extension to the house, so the stones on the outside look the same on the inside of the porch.
I would not recommend you using this outside because it is only rated at IP44, which is very low and I would feel uncomfortable with it being outside
It does give out nice and bright light which lets me easily see my keys in the dark
his was a really easy install for us as we replaced our old light with this lovely new one. classic style really for an outdoor light which i love and its well made and should last really well.
it works well and has brought a sense of security to our front of house.
We worried that this light mightn’t be bright enough compared to our old light. We needn’t have. It’s good. We live out in the countryside, with no street lighting on our road, so outdoor lighting that helps visitors without creating light pollution is important.
This is a bottom-mount style LED lamp, for which the LED is found in the top of the lamp. We had it installed by an electrician (he was here anyway, charges by the hour, and is reasonable). Confounded my electrician’s expectations – because the light is built in to the top of the fitment, despite the bottom fixings for the wall mount.
The entire assembly is plastic. But well sealed. The LED non-replaceable. Brighter than anticipated, and throws reasonably widely to encompass our driveway.
Luceco LED Top Arm Four Panel Coach Lantern, IP44 Rated, 8 w black.
Yhis luceco led four panel coach lantern is very traditional looking but with the led it brings it up to date and definitely more efficient energy wise.
My husband fitted this on the front of our house next to the front door, luckily all the fitting were there already as he replaced this he took the old one off that had deffinately seen better days! So he found this easy to fit, I dont think it would be so easy if fittings were not there already…. we have a switch on the wall just inside the front door to turn it on and off, we turn it on most nights once darkness falls and turn it off before we go to bed. It gives off a really good bright light…. neighbours have commented on how nice it looks! It’s a lovely addition to the front of our house.
Its weatherproof with ip44 rating so you can rely on it in all weathers.
It has polycarbonate panels with integrated led technology , has an average lifespan of 20,000 hours which is a long time working out at good value for money.
I can highly recommend this lantern, works exactly as it should.
First the plus points. Very easy to install, especially if it’s replacing an existing lamp with just two screws holding it to the wall and no complicated wiring. The LED lamp gives a very bright light stated to be 640 lumens, which is plenty bright enough – 100 is considered enough to illuminate a walkway at night. Also cheap to run as it’s only 8W, and manufacturers claim it lasts 25,000 hours before the whole unit would have to be replaced – plenty long enough not to be too worried about. On the negative side, it looks quite classy from a distance, but up close looks like what it is – a cheap plastic lamp! It certainly won’t make a statement if you fit it in your front porch! The lid is help on by two small screws and on mine was a bit distorted so it’s lifting up at one corner. Also the edges are a little rough in finish. If you are not too concerned about appearances, for the price, I guess you can’t complain too much. The motion sensor seems to work well, and you can adjust the time the lamp stays on when activated from a few seconds to a few minutes.
I like this outdoor wall lamp, it’s very traditional in design whilst being modern with its LED lighting. We live in a Georgian house and this four panel coach lamp looks very authentic outside our front door. This light produces enough light for a porch with its 8 watts of LED lighting.
The lamp is very easy to install and comes complete with easy to follow instructions as well as the fitment required to do the job.
Although it is not as bright as I was expecting, it is a stunning-looking coach light and one that adds a beautiful finishing touch to your garden, however modern or traditional your landscape design may be! It was reasonably easy to fit ( that’s what the electrician said ). We did have a hell of a lot of rain lately and the lamp seems to be withstanding the elements pretty well, so does make a good value for money too!
Very little in the box except the lantern, a few screws with rawl plugs and an instruction sheet. If you have any doubts about fittlng electrical items, get qualified help. That aside it is quite easy to fit. You can adjust the time on between 10sec and 8 mins. You can also adjust the brightness.. It comes with a two-year warranty.
In use, its just there and works as expected. Nice looking too and made from durable plastic that looks like metal. Good lanntern.
I was hoping to of got the one with the PIR, motion detector, but non the less this is still a nice lamp for outside; actually I’m happy that it isn’t b’cs the one on my drive hardly ever comes on nowadays which is very frustrating, so this one has replaced that one and Im happy to just operate it myself from switch inside just like any normal inside light.
Easy to install: just wire into main light socket, switch on, off when required.
Being made of polycarbonate and plastic, the lantern is maintenance and rust free, so should last year’s. Comes with 2 year warranty.
off Google:
IP44 indicates protection from the intrusion of water….Lights which are IP44 rated are designed for use in bathrooms or other Environments wher water spray is a risk.
The IP code stands for International (Ingress) Protection Rating
Edit: actually I’m glad that it isn’t motion detect, so that itlll come on/turn off when and if I need…so have upped the stars
Very bright latern garden light which is currently installed in our front garden .
Very easy to install and great for when people are approaching our door not only for their safety to see where they are walking but also for ours as we can now see who is at our door at night .
Came well packaged for transit and looks really stylish
Very beautiful design, but cheep quality!
The material is made looks cheap, I don’t think will last for long.
Anyway, it is easy to install snd very bright.
It is also economic and hopefully will last for a long period of time.
A really good looking lantern that gives out a lot of light, we used it to replace a flush to the wall light which had cracked and broken and this is so much better and brighter. It was easy to install and looks classy, the adjustable arm means you can get it into the best position to shine light where you need it and the clear panels all round allow it to shine brightly. Very pleased with this it looks good and is bright without being glaring. Not a motion sensor light but we usually just switch it on when it is dark and turn it off once everyone is in for the night.
This lamp is replacing the metal one that was outside my front door for the last 20 years that had gone rather rusty. The model I went for didn’t have motion detection but that wasn’t a priority for me and this is perfectly suitable for my needs. It’s switched on and off via the switch in my hall.
It was relatively easy to fit as I just drilled holes to fit the new lamp. I did have to have someone else help by holding the body of the lamp while I did the connecting though. But other than that it was easy peasy!! And it looks very stylish and durable. Really pleased with it and think it’s amazing good value for what it is.
This lantern style lamp has an integrated LED bulb pre installed, which makes it straight forward to fit and obviously helps making it all more watertight. For me it was a doddle to fit on our rear porch wall as I was replacing an existing lantern. Just a matter of drilling two screw holes in the wall and connecting the existing two core cable to the connectors on the lamp. The lantern looks rather nice…simple and reasonably authentic. Its only on close inspection that anyone will realise its made from a composite plastic like material rather than metal. The light it gives off is very clean and white and provides ideal coverage for our rear porch area. NB this lamp doesn’t come with any pir motion detection, so you’ll need to add one if that’s your requirement.
It contains a bulb that can’t be replaced, but lasts 20,000 hours. So, if you have your light on for 8 hours a night, this should last over 6 years.
Its plastic, but it looks good. It’s a 8w led, that’s about as bright as a 40W bulb, but is a clean white light, not at all yellow.
Easy to install, couple of holes to mount it to the wall, and standard live neutral.
This lamp certainly looks good on the wall in operation. When unpacking, I thought it was a bit plasticy, but that turns out to be an advantage, as it won’t rust like the one I’m replacing. From ground level that lamp looks the part and works as it should. It gives a good light, with the build in LED illuminating the lamp from the top rather than the bottom/middle a typical ‘bulb’ operated one would.
Note it is mains operated, so should be installed by a qualified or experienced person. Fitting it easy, using the supplied screws and wall plugs.
The light looks like the old coach lights but it is made of durable plastic that will last through UK weather conditions without a hitch. It is easy to install and comes with adequate instructions, a 2-year guarantee and a support team if required. The bulb cannot be replaced but there is a very long life on it.
The coach light looks very attractive when in use. very happy.
I used this lantern light to replace one already installed at my front door, so the installation process was relatively simple – I’m not sure how easy it would be if starting from scratch, as the light requires a mains connection.
The casing of the light is very pretty without being too ostentatious and also seems watertight and the plastic seems robust enough to handle any inclement weather. The light itself is bright enough to light up my driveway (about 8 metres long) and the motion sensor seems to cover any movement from about 5 metres or so — this suits me as I don’t want it picking up any movement from the pavement outwith my driveway.
All-in-all, I’m delighted with this lantern light so I’m hoping it will be durable and long-lasting.
We replaced a dull outside light for this new one, and it’s 100 times better light. It cleanly lights our patio, and the light spread falls onto the flower beds and lawn. Ideal for being out in the garden with the dogs, on hedgehog watch ! OH said it was easy to install and took him about 10 minutes (most of that moaning about moving the sofa to get to the fuse board). It’s a nice modern looking light, but has a traditional look too. Good light.
Another one for the electricians waiting list im afraid so will update with pics once installed but i really love the look of this one, just as in the picture descriptions.
My electrician says he can see no issues and it’s a basic lantern should be good for the area i need lighting and more (just the area around my front door and short path to the gate).
Will update after installation.
Arrived well packaged and on time.
This review concerns the Luceco LED Top Arm Four Panel Coach Lantern, IP44 Rated, 8 W, Black, price at review 15.61.
A compact, four panel coach lantern in a simplistic but functional design.
With a pre-fitted bulb of 8 watts and a claimed life of 20,000 hours this easily fitted exterior light fitting, although primarily constructed of a plastic material provides an excellent light output.
Only thing missing is a PIR function, but at the price it represents great value.
It’s very stylish lantern, have nice shape, back to olden days. When picked up this lantern I said…why it is so light…that cant be real…when we connected it to main and the light turned on…it worked, surprisingly it works…
The body of this lantern is plastic, not so strong in my opinion… we need to think about weather conditions…strong winds and heavy rain may easily damage this cute looking light.
LEDs are hidden under the top of the lantern and are not replaceable, once its life is over, then the whole lantern needs replacing.
The installation is straightforward, nothing difficult for someone who knows this things..
I’m giving it 4 stars, because of nice look, good working sensor and nice light. One star came off because of overall delicate plastic construction and worry that it may get damage if the weather get worse…
Looks the part, from a distance you’d think this was a solid metal design, it’s nice and lightweight though so is ideal for the summerhouse. Our little dogs gradually light the garden as they head off down it, it’s handy for us to be able to see them and obviously knowing anything bigger than a small dog will light the garden up should they try and break in is a comfort.
We wired this up to a plug just to check it works as it’s not the weather for fitting outdoor lights right now, it does and the light is adequate. The PIR works, and the whole thing looks and feels as if it will last. 5 stars!
This outside light by Luceco offers the traditional look of a Coach Lantern in a product made from modern materials coupled with the latest LED technology. The lantern is straightforward to fit — especially if you are replacing an existing light with the wiring in place — and is the perfect style for mounting near entrances, car ports and front doors. The lantern is rated IP44 so is designed for outside use and features a PIR motion sensor lighting up when needed — the LED is built-in so can’t be changed, but with an average life of around 20,000 hours it shouldn’t need replacing anytime soon. At maximum brightness the 8 Watt LED is rated 840 lumen so should be bright enough for most locations, and once fitted the unit is maintenance-free. Currently around thirty pounds from Amazon this Luceco LED coach lantern is reasonable value for money and if you don’t want to use a regular bulb it could suit your needs — four stars for quality and value at the price.
As a regular reviewer on Amazon I am not easily surprised but I must admit this simple and inexpensive lantern actually did just that.
Let me explain.
At first sight, it looks modern and you’d think it really would stand out on the side of a building BUT in fact, it does exactly the opposite it really blends well and fits in with most modern and old-style buildings?
Don’t believe me? Just take a look at the picture of a rustic stone cottage. The lamp looks amazing.
The Luceco LED Bottom Arm Four Panel Coach Lantern is in a smart goes with everything black.
It really is easy maintenance at just 8w the weatherproof lamp is easy to install and then you can leave it there. The long-life LEDs don’t take up much juice and really doesn’t require any maintenance.
Simple, stylish and inexpensive.
At the time I was sent this, it was on sale for just over 15, which is a steal. This coach lantern is gorgeous, before unpacking it I was concerned by how light the box was, I thought it was going to look cheap and tstty so I was pleasantly surprised by how authentic it looked, its made from a sturdy and durable plastic that can easily be mistaken for metal.
It’s easy to install with a nice and bright led light, with a motion sensor.
This is a traditional design coach lantern which cleverly places the LED light in the top of the dough to allow excellent like dispersion without blinding anybody. You can adjust the day and night sensitivity with these to allow you to choose when you want the light to come on. This was an ideal product for me as I can now leave my front porch light switch permanently on and it simply operate when it is dark enough to require it however it does not trigger in the day. The manufacturers say it should last for around 20,000 hours which if it does is incredibly impressive. For the price of a normal fixing and the hassle of them having a ball with Cetra it was far easier to buy this and if it does eventually break I would simply replace it.
The lamp appears to be soundly made with a matt black finish to a plastic body. It is supplied in two parts being the lamp and its bracket and a wiring box to fix to the wall. The two portions are held together with fiddly bolts with small matt black nuts (difficult to find if you drop them!).
The lamp has a low power consumption of just 8 watts but gives up to 1000 lux of bright white light. This is adjustable as is the duration of illumination up to a maximum of 8 minutes. Depending on the brightness setting the lamp illuminates up to a range of 8 metres. At a price of 30 (at time of review) you need to bear in mind that when the two-year guarantee expires you cannot replace the LED should this fail.
The adjustments for brightness and movement detection are displayed in small raised black lettering on a black background, so it’s wise to be familiar with the adjustment settings before mounting the lamp. The meagre instruction sheet is supplemented by fuller details on the outside of the box. Retain this until you have completed the job!
There is something reassuring and welcoming about these types of lights, perhaps it is the ‘old fashioned’ look or it just feels ‘homely’ but their design has stood the test of time and people usually have good things to say about it. This modern version uses LED lighting with a lifespan of 20000-25000 hours to provide outdoor illumination for your driveway, porch or entrance.
It is easy to install even if you have limited DIY capabilities and it casts a fairly wide glow. You could use one on the back of your house if you wished to eat outdoors in the late evening for instance. Although one would be sufficient, you could buy a second one and put them either side of your front door if you have a large reception area or parking space outside your home.
They seem quite sturdy and are built of strong material. They are designed to be waterproof and weatherproof but there is no reason why they couldn’t be used indoors, in a garage or dark hallway for instance. I’m very pleased with this lantern and am happy to recommend it to others.
Great looking outdoor lamp, very good price, it’s easy to install.
The light is rated IP44 which means it’s designed for use in all weathers and great for exterior use. So, use in driveways, to assist with parking in the dark or use in the garden, to light up hard to see areas. It feels very light and not sturdy, but the seller is offering a 2-year warranty which is great.
Great for the price
LED lighting, really good price and I’ve just checked again and it’s been priced now again so at this point its pretty much a bargain, decent sized love the look of it almost has that old traditional look to it
8 Watts, and its waterproof, its easy to install doesn’t take that long, provides good light, ive placed it near my front door its handy when streetlights are off
This arrived the day after I ordered it delivered by Amazon .
It was well packaged in it’s box .
This lantern needs to wired in to your mains electricity supply before it can be used . It looks wonderful with its four slanted coach style Windows which house the LED light . It’s waterproof and because it’s an LED lamp the bulb doesn’t need changing .
I wanted it for outside my old Victorian property . Unfortunately I am unable to have it fitted without permission ( The walls are 5ft thick and permission needs to be granted before any alterations can be made ) . Permissions have been requested and I will update this review once it has been fitted .
I think this is a gorgeous character light and worth every penny .
Good lamp
Easy to install
I love the black colour it look stylish and cool
The size of it is normal
The beauty of it is that you can install in top arm coach lantern or bottom arm coach lantern
Good value for the money as the material is strong too
Quite sturdy and reasonable value. The design is simple and the finish on the exterior of the lamp should make it easy to clean.
The instructions are not the best I’ve seen but not terrible although I do think it would be nice if manufacturer made the print for their instructions larger. Many people who consider lights like these essential to have near their doors at night may want them due to vision challenges.
It has no wiring apart from its internal wiring and has no built in timer etc. It switches on when it’s dark
I like the style and look of this lantern light. It could be used inside or out. I have had mine fitted in my porch, you can see it from outside and because the glass is clear the motion sensor works when someone is at the door and when we go out to answer the door. It is lightweight and made from plastic which should make it durable and robust. The light is bright and welcoming and only took just over 45 mins to fit, we did need extra wiring though due to the positioning of the light and power point. I am pleased with how nice this light looks and have had a couple of compliments to.
A great looking and performing light that was easy to install and produces a clean white light that illuminates the surrounding area very well. Setup took around 30 minutes taking my time to do a proper job, it was easy to wire and all I had to do was drill a couple of holes on the rear of the light to mount it on the wall and I punched a hole in the included grommet to thread the wire through. You get some wall plugs and screws included in the box.
I’ve installed it in my recently decorated porch, and it goes really well and looks proper modern especially when lit up, a couple of my friends commented on it straight away and mentioned how nice it looked.
Overall, I’m really happy with the appearance of this light and the materials used feel good quality and it should hopefully last for a decent amount of time. Its IP44 rated and the box says the LED should provide around 20,000 hours of light. For around 20 I think it represents good value for money and can really help with the appearance of an area. I’m happy to recommend this item!
This outdoor light looks really beautiful and has lots of charm. From a distance, it looks great. When holding and touching the light you will soon realize the housing and the ‘glass’ of this coach lantern is made out of plastic (polypropylene). Due to the plastic material, the lantern is very lightweight.
The bulb inside of this lamp is 8 watt LED. This is brilliant as you will save lots of energy (and money) compared to a normal light bulb. Its got a built-in motion sensor so will only light up when movement is detected. There are two tiny dials on the motion sensor that you can use to adjust the time and lux level settings. The light itself is 4000k which is ‘cool white’ so not very ‘cosy warm’ if that is what you are after. I think the LED bulb is integrated and cannot be replaced. The lantern is mains powered and is IP44 rated (generally ok for common garden use and weather).
We did a quick wire up to a plug to check that this lamp was working, it did and gave good light. The lantern is a good size and it was easy to wire in, though it’s final outside position will not be done until the spring when it has hopefully stopped raining.
It is quite an effective lantern for outside, and the glass panels are slightly bevelled and they give a nice look. The main-frame and wiring sections are in black polypropylene that feels quite sturdy.
The overall appearance is good, the light is LED and so makes it economical. I like this coach style lantern a lot, it looks good and although I do not have it in its final place yet, I am very pleased with it.
A very pleasing looking lamp. from a distance appears to be wrought iron or similar material, closer inspection shows it is in fact plastic, but it is a good imitation. It is very lightweight and could be attached to an equally lightweight structure without damage – I am thinking of something like the side of a garden shed, but it would happily mount on a solid wall.
I does require mains voltage to operate and is bright in use. The PIR is effective as is the light sensor, the adjustments for both are under a lid that resembles an eyelid. This slides easily over the lens of the PIR to reveal the two adjustment screws. I thought perhaps it might be possible to over-ride both the PIR and the Light sensor by closing the cover over the lens, this however doesn’t work, the PIR appears to work through the lid? Its function seems to be simply protection for the adjusters.
A satisfactory light with an IP rating of 44, meaning its not dust-proof but will resist water splashes from any angle so it is suitable for mounting on an outside wall – (or shed).
Good construction, works well, safe and bright – covered with a two year warranty it deserves a full five stars.
