I have not had a chance to fully test this out and put it to its limits, but I cut a couple of simple 45×45 timber and it cuts just like a corded one. The tool is not heavy, feels comfortable and feels high quality, as expected by Makita.
Originally I ordered this elsewhere, but they messed me around, making me wait weeks. So I found it for the same price on here, came within a few days, cancelled the order from the other place.
This was before I just resorted to cutting by hand timber for my garage shelving, I know I may need this again in the future and I have the battery packs for it already so next time will not be a worry. Though unfortunately I couldn’t test it out on a proper project.
Cutting timber by hand if you’re not a professional is basically cutting wonky, especially if centimetres are a factor.
If I remember, next time I’ll update this review if I get a full out try, but right now I’m happy.
It looked and felt like i brought it second hand, wasn’t contained in a another box and the box it came in was half open and wasn’t sealed 139 tht not cheap, but feel nice, look nice, cuts nice
A really good, portable, rechargeable hand saw that cuts really well.
A fantastic saw just bought my second due my first getting damaged will cross cut 2″ section with ease and will rip same section with a good quality sharp blade in my opinion one of best 18 volt saws about and makita is good for their warranty. I have 36 v x2 brushless saw which is very good but my go to saw is the DHS 680
Super bit of kit just make sure you get or have a battery for it…
I’ve only used the saw for several long days over the past month to rip 13 mm ply and some cross cutting. It’s an excellent product – multiple times better than my 10 year old Bosch saw. Its light, well built and so easy to follow cut lines with the built in led. After much research, I purchased a blade left model and it was the perfect choice for a right hander. To power the saw, I purchased two x 5 mah Makita batteries and got almost a full day from a single charge. I also purchased a Makita Mac box which will help to keep it looking perfect for years to come. I was so impressed with my 6802 that I’ve added an 18v impact driver to my kit.
general home use ,my neigbour purchased one and recommended this product to me
Plates abit loose part from that best saw on the market for brushless
Never seems to amaze me how amazing makita tools are
This is a great example on makitas work
5 stars
Simply a brilliant circular saw for the serious DIYer, or professional. Typical Makita quality, and I can’t find fault with it. Does what it’s supposed to do with no fuss.
Brilliant and so easy to use and handle. First portable saw I’ve bought and didn’t realise how convenient it makes working with it. Highly recommended
Along with the Makita guide rail and saw adaptor, a very useful combination. Highly recommended.
Really nice piece of kit.
One of the best cordless circular saws.
Cut 62 pieces of 5″x1″. With a 5amp battery attached only one bar of battery was used.
Cuts like a knife through butter with the new blade supplied.
Fits in with my other tools another great product from Makita
One of the best tool to use . Really easy to use.
Wow. This is a great bit of kit!
I was using a corded circular passed on to me and it was so difficult to use.
This has the brushless motor and the blade is decent. I find when you make a cut it’s less jumpy and not trying to fight you. Not overly loud either.
Compared to my last saw this is so light, even with the 5amp battery. The led light is a nice touch too.
Very powerful, cuts clean with ease through large timber. Would recommend using a bigger battery for longevity of life if using a lot. All in all great saw
I had the old brushed version of this saw and made a change to the new brushless version when my old one burnt out after 5 years of abuse. The difference in power and how how much longer it lasts is amazing. And again comes with a 3 year warrantee when registered so that’s a bonus
So wish I’d bought a few years ago, much more accurate and powerful than I’d expected for a battery powered saw. Highly recommended.
Work a treat, saved me a few times at work now. Cant find a fault with it yet, used 3ah and 5ah.
Fantastic saw, comes with a blade. Can change the angle of the blade to 45 degree cuts. Would have been nice to have a lazer line but that’s a minor improvement. Really impressed… Lightweight and very versatile
Build qualities spot on along with plenty of horsepower for damp solid oak(just have a few batterys on hand) it’s just as powerful as the Milwaukee fuel (used side by side) just 999% cheape
Have bought this as a present but very pleased with the item and delivery was spot o
Great tool, in my experience makita kit just does what it’s supposed to and doesn’t let you down in any way
Battery make it easy to use. good for cutting light stuff occasionally, don’t expect the power of corded.
Bought this for my dad, he is very impressed and is happy with his purchase
Very happy with this product.
Cute through 4×2 with ease
Favorite tool. Using it with a guide rail and adapter (the adapter is overpriced but essential to use the rail)
Starting with: I’ve only used this on wood so far…
Very good product, I’m particularly impressed by the motor and the management (heavy cuts and locked rotor). Before the first use you need to set the base true to the blade and check your angles but other than that it’s quite easy to use and with a good blade you’ll cut miles without problems… Not to heavy, not to light, compact and robust!
Does what you’d expect from Makita fantastic bit of ki
Excellent saw, one of the things I like is the motor is on the right of the blade , so for a right handed person it’s easier to to the cut.
Great produc
I like this saw, good speed, powerful, does a good job
I have been wanting a cordless circular for ages now but have been putting it off, telling myself I don’t need one. Well I finally took the plunge and bought this one. What a great piece of kit! It is lightweight and easy to adjust the depth and angle for different cuts. I have only had the saw a few days but have used it quite a lot and I am very impressed. Like with all cutting tools the blade makes a difference and the blade on this saw is very thin and gives a great finish to all materials. I wish I had bought one sooner. I would certainly recommend this tool.
I am a joiner by trade and I need my tools to perform perfectly every time. This one seems up to the job.
Got the old cheaper version that’s had heavy use so thought I’d go for this better version and am made up with it. The light is a nice feature and it really does help. Love that it blows the dust away as I cut. Unlike my old one.
Bought the makita saw as I already had the batteries, very very good saw. Plenty of power for cutting thicker material and the blade gives a very clean cut even on plywood. Very impressed
Great circular saw does the job thats its intended for.
I bought this to finish off the edge of a hardwood deck. It cut through the deck boards with ease. Using the plastic port meant I didn’t get covered in saw dust, which is what normally happens using right handed tools in your left hand.
Love the saw but such a shame batteries and charger are so expensive.
Easy to use well balanced cuts well and straight 4ah battery lasted all day long cutting 12mm laminate flooring and bottoms off of doors nice bit of kit supplied blade isn’t brilliant so advise to change blade when you get it 10 out of 10 Makita thank you
perfect weight, perfect balance, awesome power, and the split second soft start makes an incredible difference from such a simple concept, somehow it means that the saw does not rock/twist (gyroscope?) in your hands as it starts – I absolutely love this tool – and I totally respect the safety features. god this is a great tool. well done Makita! absolutely a 100% winner.
Very handy tool first cordless rip saw no more hand sawing! Using 5.0ah batteries but a little heavy on them still a good tool highly recommend!!
Fantastic saw, I use it to cut scaffold boards to suit. Gone the days of a hand saw.
Great time saving optio
Great! Ain’t nobody got time to manually saw sheets of wood and this goes through chip-board like it’s not even there.
Nice quality of life features like the light and safety features so I’m not overly worried about cutting my self into tiny pieces.
Nice connector to attach to suction for sawdust extraction.
Happy with the price at 145.
Highly recommended this tool,I had Makita tools most of my working life, this is the first brushless tool I have had and I’m amazed at the power.
Brushless new model definitely big step up in power and performance
This is just so much safer than corded circular saws because you don’t have a cable to get snagged or get distracted making sure the cable isn’t going to get snagged, and also the blade brake is almost instantaneous when you release the trigger. The safety switch is brilliantly placed for right and left handed users. The LED lights and dust blower make a big difference to being able to see your cutting line too.
The standard blade is fantastic. Really thin kerf and made specifically for cordless saws. The cut quality is surprisingly good.
All of the adjustments are toolless and really easy with the indicators being accurate and also adjustable when necessary.
The brushless motor means you get a few more cuts from reach battery charge but you’ll still find it munches through batteries in many circumstances. If you’re using this in a workshop or for a dozen cuts outside then it’s definitely the tool for you but if you’re a roofer then it’s imagine you’ll be charging batteries add often as you’d have been moving the plug around on a corded version.
Great saw at a great price and delivered super quick next day
This is my third Makita saw .(I give them a lot of stick)!
This particular new model is the best yet
For the professional carpenter this is the nuts !!!!
Good bit of kit but spits a lot of crap out of the main body
Have been using a mains Dewalt circular saw for most of my major work and it’s a decent bit of bit….but this has taken over 95% of daily use (other 5% I use the dewalt, say for ripping long lengths of timber or deconstruction) and I’m amazed how powerful it is! The thin blade really helps cut through any timber with ease and ‘brushless’ is what circular saws have been waiting for! The extra cost of the brushless is worth every penny.
it suddenly stopped working…..Amazon replaced it straight away…..thanks
Ordered for my partner. He is very pleased with this. Arrived really quickly. Well packaged thank you
Great bit of kit very powerful solid handy joist hook on i
Absolutely brilliant piece of kit much better than my old DeWalt brushed one plenty of power for cutting and the batteries last much longe
One of the best cordless tools I have , use time and time again. Cuts anything and everything . Excellent buy
Superb, far more efficient. Would like to change all my battery tools to brushless .
Would have preferred the 190mm maybe but got this and has worked fine so far.
Cut through 4 X 2 and 25mm marine ply with no problem.
I give it one star less just becouse is for left hands working people and I didn’t meet that in the description!
Nice light saw that can rip fire doors without the boost kicking in but it’s missing something. As a chippy if I was to rebuy I’d go down the route of a 7 1/4 saw , DeWalt or Milwaukee’s beast . These saws are more on par with a 110v saw , which this saw isn’
Amazing. This saw has so much power been using it for about 6 months and I can’t fault it. Really happy with it.
Very pleased with this circular saw, does everything i need it to do and has the usual Makita quality build. The brushless motor really extends the battery life and the saw is very powerful, to the extent that i would not go back to a corded product.
This is my first cordless power saw, wasn’t sure before using it how effective it would be, how long the battery would last, etc. I did buy a 5Ah battery at the same time just to ensure long running time though not sure I really needed to. This is a fantastic piece of kit. Not having a trailing cable is not only safer it also makes it easier to use, you’re never worrying about where the cable is or needing to move it, or my favourite – managing to hook the cable on something unintentionally. Nicely weighted / balanced saw, standard blade that came with it is making nice smooth cuts in the various materials I’ve worked with so far – moisture resistant MDF sheet, 3×2 treated studwork, Marmox tile backer boards, vinyly floor planks, redwood pine skirting and various other soft woods. Worth getting a dust bag or extractor though as it does spit out a lot of sawdust.
Very nice circular saw, love the hook so I never have to put it on the ground I cut hook it on anything near me
Love it..important note that should be mentioned. When ordering order a good blade and throw the one that comes with it away. Lasted 2 minutes before all the teeth fell off..thought the saw was crap as wouldn’t cut straight. Put a Freud blade in it and it is a delight to use.
What a fantastic saw this is , no trailing leads to worry about and very powerful .Easy to use and cuts very cleanly best circular saw I’ve used, highly recommended .
been in construction all my life “28yrs!” pound for pound cant go wrong.
Wow,I had the first cordless saw and treated myself to the latest one-I got 50 for my old one on ebay, but I am glad I got this ALOT more powerful
The saw works great. Excellent handling and good grip. Cutting wood very well both ways
Excellent saw!
Well done to Makita,
Glides through wood easily & very easy to manoeuvre & battery life is brilliant as it’s brushless!
Just perfect for my needs. Comes with a basic blade and edge guide. Great angles, slow start but…
Like all Makita products this is easily fit for purpose, if I had anything to complain about it would be the measuring scales for adjustment such as depth of cut, they are more of a guess than a precise measure. I found if I adjusted to the scale and then checked the actual depth with a depth gauge or ruler I was out by a reasonable amount.
Performance wise, no issues bought the saw along with a 5.0 Ah Li-ion Battery. Works without criticism, just don’t expect it to in any way work as well as a plunge saw.
Another top class product from Makita – a lightweight but extremely powerful circlar saw, would definately recommend this procuc
Super saw with amazing power and so light in your hand, Makita quality again.
works great as all makita hardware I have (just used it once for now)
Brilliant piece of kit, brushless takes cordless to the next level, less battery usage, more power, makes light work of hard work.
his product is good value for money and the brushless featire mean it does not kill the batteries too quick. all in all for someone who works on site it is perfec
Not had fore long don’t get me wrong love makita but I don’t think it is as heavy duty as the old one with brushes all my tools are makita 110v 18v 36v professional joiner I’ll rate 8 out of 10
I like blue and this is blue too I have 14 blue tools and they outperform tools coloured differently i reccomend blue tools every time . Yellow tools are ok, red are good too, but i like blue and you will too. Im getting under my blanky now.
Saw works really well, lovely neat cuts quickly. I bought this thinking I could use the 18v batteries from my drill, but they didn’t fit/ weren’t the same so had to spend another hundred quid on a battery and charger. It was my fault for not checking properly, but a bit annoying.
Fabulous saw, joiner for 35 yrs never had one before but use for all kinds of applications now.Even finish the day off with cutting up off-cuts for the log burner!
Wawooo. 5.0 battery and it cuts like a knife though butter.
Absolutely amazing, used this on a roof to cut 18mm OSB had a new 5ah battery in it, and cut over 40 600mm long cuts, like cutting through butter, the battery still shows that it is fully charged. Light and easy to handle.
Some Issues:
Great saw. Holds its charge for way longer than I expected. Cuts very well. That’s the good bit.
Bad bit:
life of the saw and mainly Makita customer service. Although polite, Very poor. (Google them) the saw packed in after very light use and just over a year old. Trigger has stopped working. Common fault on this saw.
Makita won’t uphold thier two year warrenty….reason being…because I didn’t apply for the extended free warrenty. I explained there was no warrenty cards or instructions supplied with the saw that told me to register online. The helper stated that there would be no warrenty cards or similar.
I asked how I was supposed to know about the warrenty application, she explained I wouldn’t have known and that is the problem with buying online???
But they seem to have no issue with only offering hidden warranties online.
She would not give me any reference number ( which Amazon requested to help this go forward. )
Total shambolic service from Makita. And a machine that does not cut it ( pardon the pun ) would think twice before buying again.
For everyone’s reference. The saw has had what I’d consider light use and is vacuumed clean after every use. And stored in a Makita case. Never been dropped.
Giving 4 stars. Just. If the trigger hadn’t packed in and had to deal with customer service it’d get a five.
Good luck.
Came on time and is very good to do the job would recommend it for trade goods prices
Great bit of kit. As a electrician use it mostly with a scaffolding square to cut nogings- works brilliantly. It’s a bit fiddly to set depth cut though but that wouldn’t put me off buying again.
Have used it a few times and it does the job. Hopefully with this make it will stand the test of time.
Tbh this is overkill for a DIYer like me. However its very satisfying to use and combined with a guide clamp cuts are perfect. Bought it without a battery to keep cost lower and use the one from my makita drill. Seems to last longer than I’ll ever need.
I prev. bought the brushed version (non-brushless?). But because an effective cordless circular saw is so vital and useful I decided to buy the brushless version because I kept noticing the brushed version ran out of power mid cut too often. This newer model feels as if it has twice the power and the same battery lasts and lasts so much longer. Don’t make the false economy of buying the brushed version. You will always be glad you got the brushless model. The circular saw is the tool that most benefits from the brushless design out of all Makita tools.
Great product I make oak buildings and carpentry has been my life this is a great bit of kit buy i
What a machine, had my doubts at first until i tried it on a 9″ x 3″ beam and it cut with no effort at all, then tried it on 3 sheets of 12mm MDF at the same time, sailed through it cut 30 sheets full length with 1 battery and then cut the offcuts as well as i had to make fillets for the job, cut 30 of them as well on the same battery I AM MOST IMPRESSED
If i could give it 10 stars I would Well done Makita
Good quality and does the job well but eats batteries quickly. Found I had to but a 5AH battery just to last between charges.
Superb saw with plenty of power.
The best quality always from Makita
Good saw , easy to use. Dss610 just as good though
A very good tool lots of power well made does what it is designed to do.
Built a whole furniture workshop with this and a hand drill. Decent price, works well.
Best and very efficient and it is a most buy and it is one of the best tool I have eve bought.
fantastic for lifting caber flooring as the blades thin it goes through it like butter, and unlike the dewalt (which a work mate has) the dust extraction actually works. nice weight to work with, and the depth measurement is actually spot on, thats a first for me. never used the hook attachment, but hey, its built in and free and you never know. I use 3ah as i have lots of em and it last a good while. Never buy the 5ah batteries as a guy in the know told me that li-ion struggle with overheating so the bigger the battery the more heat is generated due to the rapid charging so they dont last as long which appears to be true as guys on site with the 5ah have had upto 3 while my first bought approx 5yrs ago are still going strong…….
Superb saw, light weight , loads of power easy to use, doesn’t bog down, cannot fault i
Used previous (brush) version of this to death. So handy. Kills batteries (not instantly!) so bit expensive to run but does the job. Handle on right enables good view of cut for more accuracy. Mind your fingers!! Leg, knee, whatever you’re resting the wood on!!
