Easy to use and good build but rather expensive. Works well with other batteries from other makita tools and pretty powerful for a cordless tool.

Tried a few cheaper different makes which have either not lasted or would not cut a straight vertical line.
You get what you pay for with Makita. Very nice to handle, cuts straight lines helped by the led light and it is easy to change the blades. Have bought other Makita tools and have never been disappointed.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersIv just bought my 3rd one I started using these in 2015.
This has heavy daily use and last me 2 1/2 years
Works well and as expected easy to use and durable hence Iv returned and bought more

The downsides to the tool are that the screws that hold the baseplate together can work loose with vibration so need to keep tightening and sometimes loose them also the blade release catch can feel a bit flimsy but I haven’t broken one yet some times the screw works loose and needs tightening.
My last saw broke at the base I noticed the base gradually bowed and finally snapped clean off over a period of time.
Although the about may not inspire too much confidence in the tool, rest assured that it is a very good sturdy saw and is up to any job it has a good weight to it and stays accurate when cutting although if you try to cut something thick and hard say 6×2 through a not it can cause the blade to slide over the guide wheels thigh can Bend the cut slightly other than that but this would be expected from other branded saws too

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis product is an absolute delight. I looked at cheaper options, but I am so glad I opted for this.

So far I have used it to cut hardboard to put over floorboards prior to carpeting and I can say it works fantasticly.

Not wanting to replace all of the previous boards (just those which are cracked), I can say this is a capable tool- I was able to match the wandering lines of the neighbouring original boarding easily.

A few features which you may want to know about:

*Quick release blade with no tools required is great. Allows you to remove the blade every time you put the tool down to prevent damage.

*Comes with a plastic protector for cutting softer materials without scratching.

*Includes an anti splinter attachment and 4 x speed options.

Highly recommend. Another win from Makita.

    This tool is a deligh

Tool seems great, solid well made. Only had it a few days, Dust extraction is terrible. Plastic clips that hold it in place have already broken. It also has a tiny diameter outlet so it’s taken a lot of gaffer tape and fiddling to connect to vacuum hose

Golden Review Award: 92 From Our UsersHier das Ergebnis meines Kurzzeittests:

Gekauft wurde die DJV180 ohne Akku ohne Macpac fr 149.

Da muss ich schon mal sagen: Ich verstehe das Makita Sortiment nicht. Produktion ist 7/2020 und die Maschine nicht auf der HP. Egal.

Lieferumfang (da nicht komplett beschrieben, halber Punkt Abzug):

    – Stichsge
    – Imbus fr Gehrung an der Maschine (top)
    – 6 (!) Original Makita Sgebltter (4x Holz, 2x Metall
    – Gleitschlitten
    – Kleiner Splitterschutz
    – Absaugadapter

    Gesamteindruck:

Alle Bedienelemente wirken extrem hochwertig und hier merkt man: Made in UK!

    Negativ:
    – Steht nicht auf dem Akku
    – Komisches Absaugformat

    Positiv:
    – Robust, gummiert
    – Liegt schwer und solide auf dem Werkstck
    – Ruhiger, sauberer Schnitt
    – Przises Arbeiten mglich

I bought the Makita djv180z after looking at some reviews. I was going to buy the brushless djv182z until i realized it had some features that would not be suitable for me. The slow start i don’t want on a jigsaw. The djv180z doesn’t have the slow start or any other features like load detection. I can do all this myself with the trigger with the djv180z this also has the job light and is a joy to use. Very fast lasts ages with 5amp battery. Very smooth and clean cut also turns really well. Best Jigsaw i have ever owned and I’ve gone through a few in my time. I’m a Laminate floor fitter.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was like a kid at Christmas when my DJV180 Makita Jigsaw arrived to complete my set of Makita Cordless Tools.
However, as soon as I clipped in the battery I noticed that something wasn’t quite right – it didn’t clip in with the usual reassuring solid sounding ‘clunk’ and the battery is a little loose too.
On further inspection I saw that it lacked the two rubber dampers that other Makita products have (some have 3)
I have read that vibration can kill these intelligent LXT Batteries (their MultiTools have additional damping for this very reason)
I’ve since found out that the next model up (DJV182) has these 2 rubber dampers so is it a cost saving exercise? Surely 2 tiny pieces of rubber or synthetic rubber isn’t that expensive when a new battery can cost 50!
The cynicist in me might suggest that Makita did this deliberately so that we buy more batteries
Otherwise, I cannot fault this jigsaw it runs (or cuts) rings around my corded Bosch Professional jigsaw – the DJV180 is a brilliant piece of ki

    Brilliant piece of ki

ot so complicated as the brushless barrel which I also had so less to go wrong, only change the brushes periodically.
I dropped the barrel one and although no visible damage I have to get it repaired as the electronics wasn’t strong enough to take a knock.

I do like the jigsaw, but find it hard to see where it is actually cutting. This is a bit of a design issue that i see they have tried to fix with a notched guide. Still a little hard, but I needed one that went with the batteries that I had.

My first cordless purchase and so I missed the fact that it came without the power pack. My mistake. Just used it to cut marine ply and found the handling beautiful and easy. Not too heavy, and smooth, non-rattly progress. Especially useful, as I worked outside in the evening, was the light falling just right on my thinly drawn pencil line. Couldn’t be happier.

Had this a while and used for the first time today and I am very impressed! I have a Bosch GST 150 which is an excellent corded jigsaw, but there are times when cordless is much easier. Today I was cutting up a load of old wood ready for burning and tried a few different methods, but this cordless jigsaw was by far the easiest and quickest through a number of different types of wood.

Battery life is pretty good, I used a full battery and started on another, I anticipate that I’d get a full day and a half from two full 5ah batteries doing what I’ve been doing today.

Build quality is good, oddly, this jigsaw is made in the UK. It only comes with a plastic shoe for delicate surfaces, a cheap and nasty clear plastic guard to stop splintering on laminates and a small bore dust collection tube, along with a pack of blades, I think 6 or 7 in total.

The power of this jigsaw is not quite as quick as a corded, but it is not far off. It doesn’t seem to have as many RPMs as my corded jigsaw, but still cuts fast and is easy to control and change direction if needed.

Overall, very impressed. It’s just a shame that Makita’s latest brushless jigsaw is as poor as it is, forcing people to go with the older brushed model.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBeen using at jobs for about a year now.

I do not miss messing around with a faffing wire whilst cutting what so ever. You don’t realise what a burden something is until you get rid of it.

The LED light helps seeing pencil markings so much easier. And the wood debris is blown away from the blade. Still need to give a good blow yourself to clear the way for the saw base but your immediate cut line remains visible.

I stuck the Hoover attachment on from the start and even without glue it has never come off.

The saw is strong and as long as you clean and take care of it, like all tools it will last you. Don’t use the same blade for very long and be sure to house it in a case. I trust makita for their quality in tools.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI just have one complaint. You can’t click the blade into place when inserting it, you must lift the lever and then insert the blade, then pull on the blade to double check that it’s in properly. – In my Bosch 18v the blade clicks into place, which saves a few seconds.

Apart from that this is superb, and for some reason gives me cleaner cuts than the Bosch.
Goes from very low speed to very high.
Not as much vibration and noise as cheap alternatives.

Doesn’t come with a battery or charger obviously.

Overall i am very happy with this jigsaw.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersExcellent saw. Easily cuts through 4cm soft wood. Haven’t tried hard wood yet but expect the same. Feels nice in the hand. The LED light to illuminate the saw line is a nice addition. The dust extraction is a bit small (19mm inner /21mm outer diameter) and I needed duct tape to hook it up to my shop vac, but worked efficiently. Not too much vibration either. Impressed with how well the saw blade tracked – it remained perpendicular to the top of the material, even when cutting thicker pieces. I went for this (older) model due to some negative comments on usability of the latest Makita brushless jig saw and I think it was the right choice. A joy to use and highly recommended.

It is light and well balanced with the battery in place and would highly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersTypical Makita: rugged, solid and well-designed. I have tried most makes of the professional tools but always return to Makita. For one thing, they outlast all the others (with the possible exception of Festool). Although I haven’t used it for long, I have found it superb. This adds to my pretty extensive range of Makita tools, many of which can share the same batteries.

Fantastic jigsaw, well worth buying the more expensive name in the long ru

Slightly heavier than a corded jigsaw, especially with the battery, but is so much less hassle then trying to plug a corded one in.

Really good cut, comes with 6 Maktia blades

Nice quality cordless jigsaw. I am using this with the Makita 5amp battery and that seems to be a good combination. Well made and seems to be a great bit of kit so far.

Golden Review Award: 42 From Our UsersI like this jigsaw, I have been a Bosch jigsaw addict for some 30 years and they took a massive hammering, for 10 years being used nearly exclusively for cutting up metal acoustic panels. This Makita tool will have an easier life, being used almost solely for woodwork, The directional stability is is first class, and it will be interesting to see how use affects it, as the Bosch ones always needed regular guide and bearing changes to maintain accuracy. The quality of construction is well up to the usual Makita standard, ie first class. The work light is great.

Whether you like speed controls on the trigger or with a preset as on most Bosch’s is a matter of preference; If you do a lot of slow speed work, the preset is much superior as the speed is easier to control, I do find myself depressing the trigger and increasing the speed, when a slower speed would produce a better cut.

My only real criticism is that the dust blower is not very effective. It’s OK on thin material but when you get to say 22mm ply it really can’t keep up with the dust produced. There is an extract tube to go with it but having a vacuum attached does nothing for its maneuverability at all. The base plate is very strong, much better than the sheet steel ones on the Bosch professional range. It is also well balanced, which was a pleasant surprise as I thought the battery weight would throw it off.

I’ve not had much cause to use it continuously so I can’t really comment on battery life, my guess would be that if you plan on using it a lot day in day out a corded version will be better, unless you have a lot of batteries! It does however save you lugging a 110V tranny around if you’re on site.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis is such a nice saw I still give it 5 stars despite a slightly loose clip which can cause the allen key to slip out from its holder. At least they considered to house the allen key, maybe mine was an odd one with a slightly faulty clip. The saw itself exceeds expectations and the batteries are brilliant. I don’t miss not getting the brushless model, but I guess that would be even better if you thought the extra expense was worth it, I am well happy with this model though.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersThis jigsaw is WAY better than my mains powered one surprisingly. It seems to be more powerful and more precise. Having no cords on an electric saw is the way forward. Who hasn’t *nearly* cut through the mains cable whilst sawing? 😛 This should be a 4 1/2 star review, there’s only one niggle. The guide light is activated on/off by the trigger. Ideally, it would stay on a little longer after trigger release. This would allow better guide finding. I understand that the other Makita jigsaw does have that feature.

This thing is so solid, you could sit an elephant on it. It’s really ergonomic in the hand and cuts heavy ply like it is cake.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI had a bosch corded jigsaw before this, as I purchase an impact driver, saw and three batteries I though I would include this, It came with free blades and I used with a 4amp battery-it lasted ages and cut through scaffold boards with ease. It is smooth and feels well made-Makita are tops !!
