Just a perfect caliper in every way. Can’t go wrong with it and it’s the go to caliper in the precision machine shop I’m in.

Product functions as intended. Has been very solid for the few things I’ve measured so far. I plan on putting this to use for better fitment in future projects!

I have been using cheap Chinese calipers for years. The difference between the Mitutoyo and the cheap Chinese calipers is night and day. The machine work of the Mitutoyo calipers is of a very high standard. Granted the price difference is huge, but after using the Mitutoyo calipers I can say the price difference is worth it in my case. I should have bought these years ago. Highly recommend Mitutoyo over anything else.

The quality of these calipers was so evident, even if they were knock offs, I’d be happy. This of course is impossible, since only Japanese manufacturing can achieve this level of precision and finish. There’s a reason for the cost – this quality can’t be provided cheaper. Worth every penny.

I expected these to be great and they are. That said, they seem right on par with an old pair of iGuaging calipers I had that cost less than half as much… Of course those ended up rusting internally somehow despite never getting wet and being kept in their case in a climate controlled room their entire life sooo..soon… Hoping for a long life put of these.

I was concerned about receiving a counterfeit Mitutoyo caliper after reading so many reviews but I can tell you that these are genuine Mitutoyo. I used the same type for years as a machinist. Don’t mess with cheap knock-offs. Buy these.

This is a very solid product. After using it I understand why the cost so much. Well worth it and I wish I’d bought one years ago.

There is no suggestion of non-Japanese manufacture in my caliper. The box stripes, the least significant digit readout, shipping papers, all indicate Japan origin.

It’s a beautiful caliper. Smooth as heck. Readout not jumpy. No need to constantly re-zero. Button layout is logical and intuitive. I could never understand why some calipers have a separate on and off button.

I’m quite satisfied with mine. It seems genuine. I’d buy it again.

Despite the price, this is worth every penny.
Have tried several cheaper digital calibers and they all had various issues.
The Mitutoyo is smooth and accurate.
spend the money and be happy

This is not a cheap Chinese nock off. Smooth action and holds it calibration well. The only reason I rated “easy to use” as a 4 was because it doesn’t have an auto on feature like my 12″ Mitutoyo. Mitutoyo evidently did this to help save the battery, but this isn’t the fault of the seller.

This product is easy to use, accurate, superior quality, made in Japan, sealed in the bag from the factory. Expensive, but buy once, cry once! Amazon is service is world class, deliver is quick and easy. Highly recommend this product.

The only negative about these I am noticing right now is the surface finish and burrs on a few of the non-critical surfaces. They measure fine, but I was slightly disappointed in the fit and finish of those few areas. The other Mitutoyo calipers I’ve used haven’t been like this. It’s not a big deal, but it is there.

Made in Japan, you know won’t go wrong; it does cost a lot more than China copies, but all the controls are smooth and easy to use, no lag on anything. Although I’m sure a $20 China made one can do the job too, but if you have a choice will you pick made in China? lol

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy 50 year old Mitutoyo 505-637-50 (analog 6″) finally broke. Mitutoyo USA answered my email request for service in an hour, but said they can’t get parts. No complaints, it was 50 years old. Bought the 500-196-30 digimatic because it is metric/inches and analog was one or the other. (My 12″ digimatic which is 40 years old works great.) Mitutoyo has a warranty and factory service here in USA. None of the $20-50 Chinese calipers on Amazon mention a warranty. The 500-196-30 was $107 and I expect it will last 40 years. Excellent value.

I’ve used these calipers and many other mics and tools offered by Mitutoyo in my career. They never failed me. Tough. They take the oily, dirty jobs you are work on.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe difference between Mitutoyo and the cheap knockoffs are readily apparent the 1st time you use them. These are smooth and accurate and the fit and finish are very nice. They are pricey but you are paying for precision.

Quality digital caliper from a reputable brand. Plenty of resources online to verify if you received a genuine product.
Got a 0.5″ Mitutoyo steel gauge block (grade 0) as reference and it read perfectly at 0.5000″.
This tool will prove its value from the DIY hobbyist to professionals in the trades.

This caliper is well made but I find it measures exactly the same as a $20 unit from Aldi. So probably not worth the extra money.

Leaps and bounds better than the SPI, fowler, husky, cheapies Iv used in the past I have the 12″ dial and the 6″ digital and they have been awesome.

I am a hobby machinist constantly overhauling flat head engines. Having a repeatable accurate vernier caliper is a must. This is a quality tool at a reasonable price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLet me show you just one example of what quality looks like in callipers, in my included pictures one set of callipers is Neiko, (a respectable calliper for its price). Being measured in the pictures is a 0.002″ shim. The Neiko performs well under ideal conditions a tolerance of +/- 0.0005″ or half a thousandth of an inch is to be expected as the minimum resolution of both calipers is 0.0005″ despite that both callipers nail the measurement at exactly 0.002″. Notice how when the shim is moved to the tips of the callipers it disappears while the Mitutoyo carry the correct reading across the entire face of the calliper I’ve done this test with fair intentions, excessive force can translate into a miss reading across any calliper face and therefore I try to mimic the exact same force that was used to measure closer to the rail of the callipers. People might be surprised to learn that the digital gauge technology for reading half thousandths of an inch is cheap, almost ubiquitous in the industry what isn’t standard in the industry and fairly expensive to produce is tight tolerance machining. Both callipers have a memory function to keep their place in space when turned off, however only one of them zero’s perfectly every time when closed.

If you need to measure as close as possible to the 0.001″ with callipers you need Mitotoyo’s, beyond that you need something more than just callipers.

    Fantastic Performance

I bought this tool to replace a cheap sub 20 tool, which was dire quality. This one is very accurate and sturdy. Has a decent sized clear display. Would highly recommend if it’s precision you require.

I value fine quality and am willing to pay a premium for it. This meets my standards in spades. From fit and finish, to design, precision and, best of all, simplicity to set up, calibrate and use. Love it.
