Absolutely love this machine. Great value. Makes a good load and the timer feature is invaluable. The blade doesn’t stick in bread either. Really happy with it.
Love this breadmaker. Have made 2 loaves so far on the basic bread setting and both have been an amazing taste and look like shop bought bread (less white though). Used to make it by hand but I’m converted now. Bargain price too!
My daughter & myself used it to make different types of bread including the dough for Indian pav bread, all came successful. the mechine is a unavoidable part of our family. It was a intelligent buy, advice all who venture into bread making at home to go for it, you will not repent.
The item was delivered in time and arrived in good condition.
Thanks

My last Morphy Richards Breadmaker lasted two and a half years and I used it 3 or 4 times a week. So I had no hesitation buying this one as a replacement. It’s easy to use and the Fastbake mode works well. The loaves may be a little on the flat side but that can be improved by warming the water first. I use 500 grams of flour to 350 ml warm water and one sachet of yeast and that seems to work well for me. Strongly recommended and a highly competitive price.
This machine totally complement our lifestyle. The bread recipes make tasty loaves, I have tried most of them and they are all great. We slice our loaf using JML’s ‘sharpest knife in the world’ and the 2lb loaf can last us 2 days (there’s 5 people in my family). This is a better product compared to my old one which I used for over 6 years.
This was brought as my Christmas present but am using it already! I was looking for a machine that made a proper shaped loaf and not the stubby square ones. This is only slightly more oblong, but it is enough. The machine itself is a little bit bulky but I have enough room on my worktop so this isnt a problem. I love the fact that the machine runs very quietly. My old machine was terribly noisy when it was mixing the dough.
So far I have only made bread mixes and they come out lovely. Great value and great machine. Very happy
This is a great machine. We make our own wheat free bread and cakes. You just need to remember to put more water in the mix, and this machine is brilliant. This machine even has a “beep” setting as a reminder when to add sun dried tomatoes, seeds or any other choice of added ingredients.
This is a bit bigger than my last one. It works well but I haven’t been able to get a brown crust on the top of my bread but the sides are brown. Haven’t tried anything else in it yet.
I use this mainly to make dough for doing home made pizza, it has been brilliant and saved a lot of time and effort of making dough from scratch by hand.
Very easy to clean and very easy to use, it has verious settings, I just put my dough mix in and add water and press the dough button, and it does its thing.
Fantastic. I was a bit dubious about purchasing a bread machine. I thought it may be another gadget I would push in the cupboard. I have used it most days since I purchased it. How easy. Just throw all the ingredients in press the button and leave it until it beeps – take out your new loaf.Would
recommend
I chose this bread maker as it had fantastic reviews and they are not wrong. I didn’t believe that making bread could be that easy as I had never made it before and am not a great cook!! Have had the bread maker a couple of months now and use it two to three times every week and every loaf I have made so far has come out absolutely lovely. Really can’t fault this product would definitely recommend.
Replacement for the same model which had given great service for so many years can’t remember when purchased. Used 2/3 times each week and finally gave up but had been so reliable and effective did not hesitate to buy again. Over the years in use had to replace the bread pan a couple of times but found these readily available from the manufacturer. Would recommend to anyone.
so far so good. a replacement for an old, robust machine – this one does nice, even loafs, dough doesn’t always mix that well (hence four stars) and it’s easy to clean.
We bought this same model some time ago to see if we would actually use it. When the belt went we decided to buy the same model, as new. We have used it frequently. Bread from scratch, packet varieties, ciabatta, focaccia. The list is endless. So easy to use. Can add ingredients part way through process. Isn’t as big and bulky is some. Both my brother and brother in law have bought one after tasting our breads. Great machine
I love this bread maker, had a small Lakeland before which we used every day, but this one makes much better bread – haven’t tried out all the settings yet but the whole family have given it five stars for quality, value for money, and ease of use – even my husband used it without supervision!
I am thrilled with this product. It is easy to use , sturdy and easy to clean. I’m not sure how I coped without a breadmaker for so long! I look forward to using it each time as the finished product is usually good quality. For ease of time , I use premade mixes which have been lovely! You can select a small or big loaf , light , medium or dark crust and programme options to suit your dough requirements.
A fantastic product from MR , highly recommend. Happy baking.
I’ve had this a few months now and have tried a few of the settings. I’m very pleased with it and have been using it around 3 times a week without issue. Very easy to use and makes perfect bread each time 🙂
A little tip for anyone new to bread makers as I was, leaving the bread in the machine for 5 to 10 minutes means the blade comes out clean without having to dig it out of the bread.
Ordered this at a good price and it was delivered very quickly, got some wright bread mix and after washing machine as instructions stated etc, I followed instructions on packet just wacked in the water and then just poured the mix in closed the lid settings was easy and straight forward, pressed the start button and the machine done the rest, didnt realize how easy these are to use, my sister has had 1 off these morphy richards bread maker for a couple of years and she doesnt buy bread anymore, so for the price why not give it a go, I am, and yes the bread was good. ps I always like to look at reviews to get honest feedback, so just letting you know 2, cheers.
I use about once per week, either for French bread or wholemeal bread. I use it every month or so to make pizza dough. Good quality bread and dough. Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature before mixing them.
Here’s a tip for removing the paddle when it gets stuck on the spindle after the bread is removed after baking. Put a length of 1″ x 1″ wood across the top of the baking-pan. Use a 2 feet length of string and wrap the middle of it twice around the paddle. Bring the ends up to the wood and wrap them round the wood a couple of times. Wearing an oven glove twist the wood and the string will pull upwards on the paddle. It remove the paddle without scarring its teflon coating and It has never failed me.
You need the oven glove because the paddle often gives way from the spindlle without warning and hit your hand hard.
Couldn’t get a replacement heater element for the old one, but this was so cheap on Amazon 46, couldn’t say no.
Love my fresh bread. Excellent value for money and my second .
PS
If you wait for the kneading blade to finish its cycle, “approx 1 hour” , with the use of a “spatula” you are able to remove the blade safely thus saving your loaf from ruin.
I have always used this method without any problems and am on my second MR48280.
Happy Baking folks
I bought two of these… one for me and one for my partner.
I stick to the all-in-one-bag mix and only ever make a sandwich loaf whereas my partner is more adventurous (as it allows you to) and he does his own mixes, making a standard loaf, or even rolls, using the bread maker initially to knead the bread.
I haven’t bought a loaf from a supermarket since owning this!
This has replaced the prvious Fastbake Breadmaker. The previous one was bought 3 years+ and had produced a loaf every day for that period. The smell of fresh bread is one of those pleasures that start the day on a good footing. We have also found that spares for the actual bread pan are easily obtained on the internet.
I’ve had this bread maker a couple of months now. I use it to make gluten free loaves. I love it, easy to assemble and clean. And it has a little alarm so you know when to add your ingredients. It’s a big- a bit bigger than a microwave- so cupboard space was an issue, but fantastic value for money and proving reliable. Very pleased.
This is one of many breadmakers I’ve owned, the paddle seems to be the weak point on them and it’s as cheap to buy a new one as buy a new paddle, but this is a particularly good machine, clear display, easy to use, easy to clean.
Enjoying the fresh bread feeling. This is a really good maker. I think it’s the operators that probably aren’t that great at making different types of bread a fruit loaf with cinnamon was dreadful and then made the pan have a taste for the next loaf we made after washing. So we rubbed it with Lemmon and soaked it and the cinnamon flavour went. I have a crusty white in as we speak
My husband bought this for me as a birthday present, having not had a breadmaker before I wanted one that was simple to use. The Fastbake is very easy to use, and it produces great bread. Would definitely recommend this machine if you want a straightforward breadmaker. I haven’t used the timer to delay the baking and not yet all the bread types, just the white basic loaf and the granary option, both of which worked well. I have tried some bread mixes which have not worked as well but I like to experiment. Overall a good machine at a good price.
This item arrived safely on Friday – and has been in use ever since!!! It makes delicious bread, pizza dough, and cakes, and is so simple that my 8 year old son can use it – he is now designated our Chief Baker! Highly recommended.
How good can a 49.00 bread machine be ! answer fantastic, I paid 3 times this amount for my last Panasonic machine, using Wrights flour which I believe to be the best and the recommendations from there web site, as they test all these bread makers, I am producing great bread on program 1 1.5lb loaf size which gives a time of 2hrs & 53min’s as you can see from the photos, why would you wont to buy supermarket bread, after it has cooled down slice and put it in bags and into the freezer, tastes just as good from the freeze
I have had this machine several months now and I love it. Since getting this machine I have not bought store bread until the other day when I had run out of home made bread and that’s when I realised just how good this machine is, the store bread that I used to use and thought was ok tasted horrible, so in future I will make sure that I have always got my homemade bread on hand. This machine is definitely not an item to be shoved to the back of the cupboard and never used!
I have had this machine a couple of weeks now and have tried all the recipes – every one a complete success!! Just do what the manual says and measure meticulously with the tools provided, sit back and let the Morphy Richards delight you time and again with perfect bread, cakes and fruit loaf. An excellent piece of kit at an affordable price.
So far made white bread, onion bread and malt loaf and its so easy to use, The smell of baking bread is wonderful. No more bought bread for me. Looking forwards to fruits coming into season so I can try making jam.
Love this breadmaker. Real value for money. The fast bake needs a bit of tweaking as I found the bread a bit doughy but the other simple bread is perfect. The fruit loaf is absolutely delicious and can’t wait to try out the chocolate bread and the malt loaf. One slight drawback is the dough hook thingy always gets stuck in the bread which is a bit annoying as I have to cut the loaf in half to get it out as it’s quite embedded but small price to pay for such an excellent product.
Lovely machine bakes well. Only fault is that the spool goes up into the loaf and its a job to get it out. Leaves a big hole through the loaf. Shame spool cant be fixed permanently.
I like the bread maker. I only find it a bit chunky for my kitchen . I didn’t think it was that big and I wish the recipes wouldn’t have sugar every single one of them
Tried my normal bread recipe which I used to make in the oven but didn’t got it quite right yet
Overall , I would recommend it . Thank you
A lovely machine which at present I have only used once. The granary bread I cooked was great. I intend to use it much more. The machine was much bigger than I thought it would be, but the price was right.
I love this bread maker – really easy to use. I currently make brown and white loaves and have stopped buying supermarket bread.
You can freeze loaves you make if you want to have back up’s to hand. Takes about 3hours to make a loaf so you need to think a bit ahead.
But the bread that comes out is amazing and the smell of it cooking is divine.
Easy to use with a few simple recipes in the instruction manual. I’m useless in the kitchen and have made several different types of bread already, so much nicer to eat knowing there’s no additives etc!
i bought 3 of these has xmas presents for daughters and inlaw but i knew what i was buying has i have owned one for over 20 years and the product did not let me down they are now eating very healthy bread this product was also featured on this morning in the top five to buy well done morphy richards seller great they know good stuff when they sell i
Fantastic bread maker. At first all of my bread was very thick until I found the brown bread setting which makes much fluffier bread, which I love. My only criticism is that the metal attachment to knead the dough is a pain to remove from every loaf of bread when it is complete, but otherwise perfect.
Not bought a single loaf of bread since I bought this. Easy to use and churns out consistently great bread. The only disaster was forgetting to put the paddle in, but I can’t blame the product for that. I probably make a loaf a week, sometimes more. It’s so much better than my last machine that often created bricks. The bread this makes is perfect every time.
Really great bread maker, very straight forward to use although still finding some of the recipes too sweet so just need to adjust ingredients to get it right for our household. Great piece of machinery, lovely and quiet, easily maintained and a joy to use. Nothing nicer than the smell of freshly baked bread. A great purchase that I highly recommend.
Nice simple design what boats many functions! Makes a tasty loaf in an hour no problem! Obviously does many other things including preparing certain doughs (Pizza anyone?) and even jam! Comes with clear instructions and enough recipes to get you going. I must stress that you do buy the correct flour to achieve maximum results. Very pleased with this product and it smells amazing once it gets going!
We weren’t sure about this machine initally, which we bought a few months ago, only because it was only 15 more expensive at the time than buying a new blade and pan for our 10-year old version of this model. We have now worked out that it’s an improvement in terms of working the gluten and so a couple more tablespoons of water need to be added to the mix. So we are now really happy, since it is quieter than the old one, which was starting to show signs of wear.
This is the second Morphy Richards breadmaker I have had and have been satisfied with both, I have been using a maker for about 12yrs they are a healthier way of eating bread what you put in is what you want not rubbish to keep it fresh etc, it takes a few minutes to set up but then switch on and leave. Get one
So far so good. I have had this for a short time and have made several white and wholewheat loaves and they have all been absolutely fantastic as has the pizza dough.Great texture and flavour. This was purchased to replace my previous Morphy Richards bread maker, which had given many many years of great service. The new one is even better and I cannot fault the quality of bread produced nor the ease of operation.
Excellent product that performs just as advertised. I’ve foregone the need to buy bread entirely and now make my own fresh in just under 2 hours. Every time the bread has come out well, tastes great and promotes experimentation.
Easy to get to grips with, can’t think of any problems I’ve encountered yet apart from the brad being maybe a bit too soft on quick-bake.
Would recommend right away.
Totally love it. I’m making bread now more often than before. I have made chocolate bread, wholemeal bread, white bread, raisin bread, banana bread, oatmeal bread and more. Love them all.
Few suggestions for future would make sure that paddle doesn’t stick in the bread. I started cutting once without realising it is still there.
Would be nice to get recipes on hard cards or similar as having instruction manual all the time in the kitchen – it get’s a bit messed up
Only took delivery of this bread maker last week but I have already made three different loaves and they have all turned out well. After taking advice from other Amazon customers I made a delicious fruit loaf, much better than anything I could buy in the shops.
For the price this is an excellent bread maker and I can’t wait to try out more recipes
My only criticism of the machine is the beep it makes when it is turned on, to signal when you can add other ingredients and to indicate it has finished is mind blowingly loud and annoying. It makes the most delicious bread and we can’t go back to shop bought loaves. Great value for money.
Makes great bread. But as a newbie I was a bit scared by how noisy it is! Having read reviews, it appears machines ARE noisy. But a warning should be put on it somewhere, as I thought it must be broken or I had done something wrong. I still get excited though at putting the ingredients in and a loaf being there once it beeps!
Makes a good medium sized loaf. Small size not good as dough hardly fitted the container. Think recipe in book uses too much milk and sugar so use my own recipe. Timer works well overnight. Preferred my old Panasonic but this was very good value for the money.
Seems to work well and is turning out loaves reliably. Initially tried using wholemeal bread flower sourced from UK stone ground mill but this made the bread a bit dense. Something to do with the type of wheat we grow in the UK apparently but if mixed50/50 with some proprietary bread wheat such as may be found in the supermarkets it then works fine.
I bought this bread maker to replace my old bread maker that gave up with overwork. It was the same bread maker as this and I chose to replace it with the same one because it was easy to use and easy to program. You can do so much with it and it takes all the hard work out of homemade bread. I never buy bread or rolls anymore and make my own pizza bases with it as well. Homemade tastes so much better than shop bought and you know exactly what is going into whatever you are making too so no additives, preservatives and you control the amount of salt which is added. I kept the recipe book from the old bread maker in case the recipes had been changed but they are the same recipes but it now gives the cup measurements in grams for weight or ml for liquid which has only improved the guide for me.
I have so far baked seven different loaves, some from the supplied recipe book, some from elsewhere, and not one of them has collapsed, unlike my old machine; I haven’t yet tried it on ‘fastbake’ (this wont be a feature of my baking anyway!) but the results on other programmes are very encouraging indeed.
I am enjoying baking my own bread-and this is an easy to use bread-maker with an excellent instruction book. The only flaws with it are that it is very large for my small kitchen and the loaves come out a bit tall
My daughter didn’t want to buy a bread machine, as she thought it would not make good bread. She is now a convert. We don’t buy bread now. The machine is tall so will not fit under kitchen cabinets so can’t give it 5 stars
For the money, and this is my first breadmaker, this does a good, adequate job of turning out the type of bread I like. I only ever use it on the wholemeal bread menu and now having got the hang of it, feel confident to play around with the recipe. A good, cheap, introduction to breadmakers.
Used very successfully to make white, wholemeal and granary loaves and to make dough for white and brown rolls. Have not had a single failure but by a bit of experimenting have found that we get a better textured brown loaf by replacing approx a third of the wholemeal/granary flour with white but still using program 3. We also prefer the dark crust setting as we think it imparts a better flavour. Very easy to use and clean.
I have not bought bread since I got this machine before Xmas ’14
I have not experimented much with the programmes I find as others have said that the basic loaf is perfect and I also love the pizza dough programme, makes enough dough for an 18″ monster. I have used it almost daily and it is probably the best purchase I’ve ever made on Amazon.. You can buy this confidently it is a total work horse and I wouldn’t be without mine.
This is a really easy to use bread machine which takes the hassle away from making it yourself, all you do is put the ingredients in the order of the recepie ( they come with the machine) turn it on ,set the weight and crust you want and 3 hours later you have fresh warm bread. We haven’t bought any since we got this
We bought this bread maker to replace our Russel hobbs bread maker (we got rid of it as it moved about while mixing and was not great).I cannot find any fault with it,over the years we have been through quite a few bread makers and this is our second morphy Richards one and for the price compared to other bread makers available it’s great, and I would recommend it.
Have used this bread maker a number of times, it’s so easy to use and produces excellent bread. Haven’t made cake in it yet but looking forward to doing so.
Remember to register this product with Morphy Richards within 28 days of buying it though in order to secure a 2 year guarantee (rather than the one year guarantee automatically given)…..I forgot to do it!
This is a really good cheap breadmaker and a bargain at the price. Easy to use, tools supplied and the bread doesn’t stick in the bin like some we’ve had before.
Who could ask for more?!! Well, I could. the way the lid is moulded makes it a bit difficult to clean around the inside edges, but that really is nit picking.
Ik have been baking all my bread in a Morphy Richards bread maker over the last 7 years and made all the dough for pizzas as well. Last week it stopped after many many hours of hard work. I bought a new one this week, similar type. This machine is excellent value for money. Some reviewers commented that the loaves sink in the middle. This happens if the dough has been rising too much and then collapses. This is easily resolved by either using less yeast, use cold water instead of lukewarm, or use a shorter program. Happy baking!
Have had this for few weeks now and made about 5 loaves of bread (at first with varying success). I think I have finally cracked the recipe for basic white bread the way my family likes it (with a little bit of tinkering of the recipe in the book). Once I feel I have mastered the white loaf I will move on to something a little more exotic.
Overall I am please with the purchase. So far it is working well and I like the bread it makes.
This is our second bread maker and we have gone for exactly the same make and model. The last one was a present and we have used it loads. I make bread on average a couple of times a week. Easy to use, but make sure you use good flour or the bread does not rise as well. Good value for money if you are going to use it regularly.
Bought this as a gift for my daughter & her husband as they loved mine, money well spent. My only issue was that it came in the box without exterior packaging, this meant it couldn’t be left in a safe place as I wasn’t home as you could see what it was
This is such a good maker I lost out on this in a divorce and have just brought a new one I can’t knead due to bad joints this does it for u have tried all the recipes and they all come out fine as long as u measure stuff as they say .it makes jam a dodle and is good for small amounts. All in all this is a very good machine for price and performance and I can’t fault i
This breadmaker is so easy to use, also easy to clean. Being able to set it up to have bread ready the following morning is really nice. I did this to have really fresh warm bread on Christmas day. So far I have only used the basic program, have used three different makes of bread mixes and all have been successful. I really recommend.
We got this to replace an ageing Panasonic, which all too often managed to not stir the ingredients properly.
This Morphy Richards, which is considerably cheaper, is just as well made, and has made perfect loaves every time so far (using both fresh ingredients and bread mixes in packets).
Couldn’t be easier, and you get to eat a fresh loaf as soon as it’s cooled enough. Almost worth saying ‘the best thing since slic……’ well, you know.
Initially I planned to purchase the Lakeland bread maker however my circumstances changed and it became out of my budget. So when I came across the morphy Richards one at such a great price I couldn’t resist. It really bakes a nice loaf and it’s so easy to use, I can understand why it was number one best seller. I like it so much that I’ve even convinced members of my extended family to purchase one too!
Excellent, ticks all the boxes. I would only say that the paddle tends to get stuck in bread with crusts a lot whilst still attached to the bin and it is very difficult to get the bread out of the bin without the help of an instrument (and the worry that I might scratch the pan and damage the non stick surface).
Also I am sure that the timer seems out by an hour as it is never done by the time I set it for.
Other than that it works well and does a good job, no flops yet!
Thank you Amazon. Why did I not get a bread maker years ago ? It is so easy to use and clean. The different types of bread I have made are so tasty. I have given some bread to friends and family, they were most impressed. Very promt delivery. I strongly recommend the Morphy Richards Fastbake 48280. I must mention the smell of baking bread is something else.
eplaced older version, found this version on amazon other places were selling at twice this price. makes wonderful bread the loaves are perfect and taste lovely. they have a quick set up for 1st time users and there are plenty of options for loaf size, loaf type, crust etc. you also get a recipe book for different loaves i have only baked one and half pound loaf which is a perfect size. this model can produce dough, cakes and even makes jam. compared to my old breadmaker this is the bees knees
The machine works perfectly well but, like many other people, the novelty of making your own bread soon wears off. The bread is different but it doesn’t keep, it goes stale if not eaten the same day. If you are thinking of making your own bread I would suggest that you think again.
My old Morphy Richards gave up the ghost, but not before I had tweaked the recipe till I got exactly the loaf I wanted, with no sugar whatsoever. I was hoping against hope that with a new model of the same brand I wouldn’t have to do that again from scratch, and the wish was very close to being realised. Only had to adjust the water/yeast quantities a little, and it was back to production as usual. 🙂
The shape meant it had to go in a different place on the worktop, but that’s ok. Also, took a chance on an Andrew James cover for it, and it fits well enough.
I had a breadmaker when they first came out. And honestly I don’t think I ever managed a decent loaf. So was wary of buying another. Read the reviews on this one and decided to try again. It arrived the day after and after 3 hours I had a perfect first time loaf of gorgeous bread. Was concerned about the fast bake after reading the reviews. But in all honesty I thought it was great. Just slightly heavier. But I had it in an hour so brilliant. Looking forward to experimenting.
I would definately recommend this to anyone considering buying a breadmaker.
My only issue is I want to try more but have to wait till it’s eaten. Which usually doesn’t take long
The first 48280 breadmaker lasted less than a week, due to an electrical problem (no power).
But the service I got from Amazon to get me a replacement was excellent. My new 48280 breadmaker
is now in service and after my getting used to it I am now making bread that,s a pleasure to eat.
Well satisfied.
Maker was larger in size than expect was looking for a more compact model to bake a loaf for two and did not want to varying types of bread. Having said that it was easy to use with good instructions and very pleased with results. Having use my daughter in laws Panasonic priced around 100 my maker is just as good.
This is my first bread maker , and i am very pleased with it , easy to use , makes nice bread and Pizza dough.
I like the simplicity of this machine so much so i purchased one for my mother who is also now enjoying making bread despite being a technophob .. but she has mastered this so it must be easy !!!
i have not bought shop bread since i have had this , it tastes so much nicer and i know whats in i
I bought this to replace a 1.5 lb loaf model of the same brand that I had used for some years.
After the first half dozen uses, I am satisfied with performance, with two caveats.
First, the recipes in the instruction booklet provide for much less yeast than was the case with the old machine. At present, I am adjusting upwards until I find the right quantity. Secondly, when I make the wholemeal loaf which is my standard product, the mixing action spreads some of the dough high up the sides of the container, and I have assumed I need to scrape these back into the mix manually before the rises. But I haven’t yet left the machine to its own devices to see whether this apparent issue corrects itself.
One of my favourite purchases and a welcome addition to my kitchen. I struggled at first as the results weren’t brilliant and the kneading blade got stuck in the cooked bread!! I now make sure I oil the baking pan, cog and blade before storing. The secret is to take the blade out after the last knead.
I have perfect results every time and never buy any bread. Marvellous.
I had a Morphy Richards Fastbake Breadmaker for several years, making at least one loaf a week. I loved it and never had any problems. Unfortunately it stopped working a couple of weeks ago (belt broken). In order to get the same machine I ordered this Fastbake and was slightly disappointed to find that in the ‘updated’ version the baking tin is ‘sideways’ as opposed to ‘lengthways’. I have only made one load and one pizza base so far but it works well but I preferred the other baking tin as every slice of bread was the same size and shape. Also the new version does not fit into the space I had for my other one – so a redesign of the kitchen is called for. That said, there is nothing wrong with the breadmaker itself and the delivery service was excellent.
Bought this to replace the same one I’d had for about 7 years. Initially opted to buy a different make just for the change but had to send it back after making just 2 loaves. This is a good breadmaker; the paddle does get stuck but if you remove it promptly there is no problem. Recommend.
I can only review the delivery as I bought this item for an elderly neighbour, she was so pleased with the delivery as it was 3 days earlier than expected, she bought the same fastbake breadmaker 10 years ago ,and was so pleased with it she went for the updated model, she brought the 1st loaf to show me as was really pleased with the results, so that must say something for the machine.
I bought this breadmaker as I am not supposed to eat wheat, but love bread. My hope was that I would be able to use non-wheat flours to make bread (I’m not gluten intolerant, just to wheat).
Well, it’s still a work in progress and (due to the lack of gluten in most non-wheat flours) come out as various degree of ‘brick’… but they’re tasty bricks! Spelt flour works really well.
TIP: Use Xantham gum (Asda sell it) with non-gluten flours for a better texture, etc.
Definitely well worth the money and it’s great fun watching it and having the house smelling of fresh bread!
Good price for a simple, easy to use, reliable machine. Great results so far from the ready-mix packs, and looking forward to trying it for other things – ie pizza dough, hot cross buns etc. A simple and fun activity to do with the kids too, and smell in the morning if you set it with the timer in the evening is great.
Good value purchase that makes the bread very easily if a trifle long. 3hrs approx for 2 lb loaf. Sometimes the mixing paddle does get stuck in the bread but the guide does warn you about this and it is easy to remove when cooled. We have enjoyed some very nice bread with this machine and once you are used to it doesn’t take long to add the ingredients and sit back whilst it gets on with the breadmaking.
This is my third one of these breadmakers, the previous two have lasted in excess of 6 years each which, in my opinion, is pretty good, considering I make bread just about every day
Its easy to use, the recipes are excellent and the bread is delicious – see no reason to buy a different make when I am perfectly happy with this one
I have been using a breadmaker for over a decade. My first was a Morphy Richards and it did go wrong but upon speaking to them by telephone it was immediately replaced. The replacement eventually wore out and last year I foolishly purchased a SilverCrest machine from Ildl. What a load of rubbish! However Lidl have refunded my money with no argument and I now have another beautiful Morphy Richards machine. You will not buy better and remember they give a two year guarantee which is worth the paper that it is written on. Don’t look elsewhere.
Bread, everyone eats bread right?
Yeah right! Try this stuff, it’s not the doughy white hovis or kingsmill you are used to (although a 2lb loaf is still cheaper than them). This is bread that fills you up, bread that is part of the meal not just the surround of some tasty bit of cheese or ham (or both).
The fruit loaves can come out with a bit of a thick crust but once you have your ingredients right a loaf a day (as they don’t store for long, no preservatives you see) is lovely.
This product seems to be extremely good value for money. Following the advice given in other reviews, I have not bothered with the fast bake option and, so far, I have not had time to experiment much with it. However, it makes an excellent job of my normal half and half bread, with or without additions like herbs and olives. The bread is very light; I have not had a failure yet. and the product is easy to clean. I am looking forward to experimenting with some of the more unusual recipes.
e the Morphy Richards bread machine……..this was a replacement for the one I had before – exactly the same one! The original bread maker was a Christmas gift from my husband (no, really, it is what I asked for!) four or five years ago. Proved so successful, I wore the poor thing out. (Bread machine, not husband) I’d had three replacement pans in the old one, and finally, after being used at least four times a week, the old one started making a load of noise – like a washing machine when the bearings are going, so, hence the new one.
I first purchased a top of the range panasonic which turns out doughy bread. Gave it away. Had on of this model Murphy Richards for seven years and it finally gave up. Decided to buy this again as I know the results I get which are always great. The bread isa of a first class consistency and takes 3 hours instead of five hours for the panasonic. I would always recommend this bread maker, simple to use and reliable.
This is a replacement for the same modle I have had for the past 8 years. The only thing that went wrong with it was the bake pan was getting old and worn. Not that I can complain as it is used every other day over 8 years is a great deal in my eyes. hope this oine can live up to the old one if it does I will be over the moon. Not a bad thing to report about this product.
I wanted a breadmaker for a reasonable price and one that was not too big. After reading all the reviews for this item I decided to go ahead and buy it. I haven’t been disappointed it produces very nice loaves and does not take up too much room in my small kitchen. I didn’t buy it for the fastbake option at all, although I have used it twice but like many others I have found it produces a very doughy loaf and not worth using. Which doesn’t bother me at all.
Yes sometimes the paddle gets stuck in the bread but its not a problem to remove, my only other criticism is the cord is too short so if you can’t put it right next to a plug you will need an extension.
But it is a great machine for half the price of other more expensive ones.
The main reason I bought this particular model was that it was the only one I could find that would cook a loaf as small as 1 lb. I have tried baking a 1 lb loaf and it was perfectly good bread although a bit of an awkward shape.
In the event I like what this machine produces so much that I am now eating much more bread than I used to and consequently bake 1.5 lb loaves all the time!
My favourite is to use the granary recipe but with two thirds granary flour and one third wholemeal.
I changed from a previous Morphy Richards Breadmaker with a foldable blade and this one leaves a smaller hole and you don’t have the fiddle of it possibly collapsing while you are loading the ingredients.
I found the quick bake white bread quite acceptable if you are in a hurry.
Standard bread I make is Granary and it makes fantastic loaves, really tasty and good crust.
I also make my wife wheat free bread, but as it makes 2lb loaves (last one was 1.5lb) I have not yet got the ingredients perfect (I created my own recipe) but it is still very edible.
A little big on the side, but that is because it is a 2lb bread maker.
Looks good and fairly quite, I like the fact the panel is on the front so my wife who is short can see it.
This is an excellent vaue-for-money product and I’ve produced some great loaves with it, using the recipes from the accompanying booklet. The only disaster was when using the fastbake cycle – don’t bother, it’s a waste of the ingredients.
There is a decent-sized viewing window in the top and the dimensions are good – being narrow, it slots conveniently into a small space in the cuboard.
Always thought a bread maker would be a “white elephant” item which sound good in prinicple but would be more hassle than they are worth. However the quality, taste and of course smell of fresh bread override any worries you can have. The preparation is simple and the wait is agonising, you will keep popping back to take look. The recipies included are good (the ones tried so far).
Overall a nice compact unit which gives good results – and at this price you can’t grumble – just tuck in!.
