The free bin liners that come with it won’t fit .. Excellent quality of bin though would definitely recommend

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBetter than me there as lid has worked for 2 years. Some others lasted months only. Still deeply disappointing to purchase products that have built in redundancy.

When bags are getting full they are very hard to remove from the bin. Also, the battery operated lid only works intermittently.

Very pleased with bin. A little smaller than our previous one but certainly big enough. Sensor at front which is easily activated.
Advert/description stated 3 bin liners supplied!!! Not sure if anyone has tried actually putting it on the bin but I assure you it does not fit. Too small.

Does what it says in the description. However the sensor is extremely sensitive. Walking past it activates the lid mechanism from 12 inches away. There should be a way to turn down the sensitivity. Otherwise, a very good bin that holds a good deal.

Surprised it did not come with batteries and the three binliners did not fit and were about 1 inch too small on the rim. The sensor is at the front so opens and closes every time you pass it whereas my previous one from tower had the sensor on the top so only opened when you put your hand above it which was much more sensible

Hands free operation is ideal for maintaining high standards of hygiene. The Morphy Richards lemon scented bin bags are extremely strong and easily removed even when heavy. Batteries last six months if average family use.

This is a better automatic bin than my last. It’s good it has a long warranty also. It opens from a sensor on the side which means the stuff you put in the bin doesn’t spill over the bin top, and it’s a more natural movement to put things in.

Works perfectly and can’t complain about a thing, although, this is the second one I’ve had as, somehow, the first ones battery cover managed to fall in the bin bag and we threw it away without even realising.

This is the second one of these I’ve bought to make up the twin set for recyclable and non recyclable waste. Fortunately I was able to get the second one in a sale, so paid no more than the first one from 2 years ago. Having paid only about 50, I wasn’t sure how long the motion sensor would last but it has proved to be reliable. It is well designed with a plastic retaining ring for the waste bag, which means the bag doesn’t have to be seen unlike the expensive Brabantia it replaced. I like the way the lid remains open if you’re still close to the sensor and emptying waste into the bin. The steel used to make the bin itself is rather flimsy so if you cram the bin to full you could dent it. As long as you don’t abuse it, it’s fine and besides what can you expect for only 50. You could buy a Brabantia instead but it would probably cost you almost twice the money.

Excellent especially when cleaning plates or preparing food. Scraps can be put in bin without touching the lid or bin. looks really smart. Sometimes opens when passing unexpectedly. Provided bin liners did not fit – too tight.

Easy to set up. Once you have put batteries in, just wave a hand in front of the sensor and lid opens and closes automatically. Be aware of where you will position it, because if you have to walk past the bin quite closely, you will trigger the lid.

Does exactly what it says in the title. Good sized bin, sensor works well, only downside is it automatically closes after about five seconds – a bit annoying if you’re scraping a plate and it’s a bit fiddly. It isn’t a heavy lid so at most it taps your hand gently as it closes and it stops if there’s any resistance but I’d expected to need to wave over the sensor again to close the lid, or get a bit longer before it automatically closed. Not the end of the world and doesn’t affect its use negatively at all.
Some questions were asked about opening it without the sensor working – there’s a little lip in the lid so it’s easy to pull up manually.

Great product. Very pleased with the look, it’s sleek and professional looking and works great. In the instructions it says you have to have your hand a certain distance from the sensor well I found this distance to be made up as I had to have my hand a lot closer, around about and inch away It’s no issue for me, stops accidentally opening as you walk past but If it’s an inch say an inch not something else.

This is expensive for a bin, however I feel is worth it, as the bin is actually metal (unlike many of the same price which are plastic made to look like metal). The sensor opening is great (although can be a bit annoying if the bin is placed too close to a walk way as the bin will open when you walk past. The capacity is good, the free bin bags included are.a nice bonus and smell lovely. Fast delivery.

I like the no hands approach. So much easier and germ free when working in the kitchen. Holds loads but not easy to remove bags if they are too full. Disappointed in the battery life though – after a while the lid didn’t close fully and only putting in new batteries fixed it. Overall very pleased after 6 or 8 weeks of use.

  42. LashawnTarver says:

Great bin. I’d give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the lid. The sensor is so sensitive it activates every time you walk past the bloody thing. Then, when your want to scrape the remains of the children’s dinner into the bin, it gives you about a nano second to do it! Well, 7 seconds, but either way it’s not enough time. Apart from that, it’s probably the best bin I’ve ever owned.

The quality of bin is good and hands free operation works effortlessly. I only think that it has a design flaw that sensor is on the side as oppose on the top. This means that when you want bin to open for few seconds like you are scraping a plate or throwing few items, the bin keeps closing. Hence, I have not given 5* rating.

Not a bad bin, easy to change, no bits for the bag to get caught on.
The automated open is odd.. doesn’t pick up skin, but does pick up clothes… so we find we open it with our bums.
Sometimes it stays open, and I am unsure why.

Slightly smaller than I imagined, but that has worked out better overall.

Haven’t had to clean it yet due to the automated opening.

A little rough around the edges, the bags tend to rip trying to get them out the top because it’s not made perfect but it’s a bin. Your hand needs to be extremely close if not, touching the sensor before it will activate. There’s no way to keep it open when standing longer than 5 seconds without having to hold the lid up to prevent it from going down.

Nice style a bit spoilt by the fact the lid does not hide the top of the liner bags, sort of lets down the sophistication.

Update: now I realise that the top of liner bags can be hidden by inserting under the plastic rim and folding the top of the bag inwards over the separate plastic rim. My only criticism now is the lid could stay open longer, not enough time to empty dust from my bagless hover before it tries to shut.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersAt last we have found a large kitchen bin that actually fits perfectly in our kitchen.
It looks good and works brilliantly.
It takes 4 AA batteries, which are not supplied, but your more likely to have them in your house.
It is very responsive, with a very abrupt opening operation.
There is no inner bin liner, so no wrestling getting the bag out.
There is a holding ring that clams the bag in, and the lid gives it extra security.
    Very pleased with the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersA lovely looking good/heavy quality bin – 4 stars because the plastic lid is quite flimsy. Having said that, I don’t think that this will be an issue…because you don’t touch it! I have read the other reviews and can confirm that:
    1. The plastic battery cover did initially drop off when first installed – this was my fault, as I had not clicked it into place correctly. No problem now
    2. You can fit the bin liner so that it is NOT seen – I use a large (definitely over 50L) black bin liner, as my old bin was slightly bigger
    3. There is no ‘inner bin’, but this is not an issue, if you put the bin liner in correctly – see point 2 above
    4. It does indeed open by itself…..but only when my bum is directly facing it. Walking past has not been an issue so far
    5. You can register for a 5 year guarantee on line @ Morphy Richards. Note that there is no serial number required – only the product number, which is on the box. Keep your receipt though
    6. As with all bins of this type – if you over fill it, it WILL be difficult to empty….I am trying to educate the rest of the family!

Good looking and efficient shape. All works well except that I have had to reinsert the batteries twice. The battery compartment is, of course, in the lid but the frequent opening & closing appears to be too much for the battery holder. Perhaps a more robust unit is called for. Otherwise fine

Golden Review Award: 54 From Our UsersThis bin takes a bit of getting used to. At first it seems like a robot has come to live in the kitchen and may be taking control. The lid comes up whenever you go near it, meaning you have to position it so that it’s not ‘going off’ all the time. And you definitely want to make sure its beady little crab eyes aren’t looking at you all the time. You also have to practice your ‘approach’ so you’re neither waiting for it to open or having your hand chopped off as it suddenly closes. It makes a rather disconcerting ratcheting noise both on the way up and on the way down. Having said all that, we have now evolved to live in harmony with the robot bin and think of it as a very helpful member of the family. The chrome lid is rather tacky, but no-one else in the family is perfect so I guess we shouldn’t expect Ro-bin to be either.

I have had this product for about a month now and it has proved to be even better than expected. It arrived promptly and with no issue, in a very well packaged parcel. Was easy and simple to assemble with clear instructions. It requires a few AA batteries but these are standard and easy to replace, when the time comes. Looks great and because of its shape, is extremely handy for narrow spaces. Replacing the bin bag is also very straightforward – just lift the lid, remove the bag holder and replace the bag. The bag holder ring is not that sturdy and will not hold heavy weights but so far it has worked fine for our normal bin liner. The opening mechanism works very well. It can be quite sensitive so will open if something is waved over it unintentionally. Therefore, locate the bin in an area where this would be less likely to happen. All in all, a great product at a very good price.

Golden Review Award: 88 From Our UsersGood looking bin and the sensor mechanism is great and quite sturdy however there are two flaws:
    1. The battery case is located under the lid and for the second time since having it for a month, the battery lid has fallen off along with the batteries under a pile of rubbish!
    2. It is extremely difficult to pull the bin bag out when it’s full due to the vacuum created. The solution was to drill a hole in the back to allow some air to escape which I only could of wished the manufacturer would of thought of.

Apart from that it is quite good, but for the price I would of expected more thought to go into the product other than the fancy sensor gadget.
