Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter many years of owning a Phillips Steam Generator, it was time to find a new iron. This one has so many more functions, with the inbuilt de scaler, auto off switch if not used for 10mins, smart techno. Very pleased with it. Even the teenagers enjoy ironing now!

Bought this as a gift for my 65 yr old Mother, who’s been using other people’s irons and after fully reading the initial instructions, she got it working fabulously. Had to open the windows because of the vast amounts of condensation caused by the steamer!
It would seam that the fault reported last year with this product has now been rectified. 10/10 on performance, delivery and value as bought it at over half price on black friday deal. 100% satisfactio

I am finding this product very good and easy to use the water tank is much easier to fill the iron it’s self is slightly heavier than the old one which causes no problems.

Works well. Through had same sram issu2s as others but if you hold boiwt button for a minute before it first use, the steam comes through okay after that.

The only thing to improve it would be if it stood up on its end rather than having to return to plate to move clothing item.

I’m impressed at the quality of this steam generator iron for the price of it – we’ve tried models twice the price and this irons just as well. The main advantage for me is that it’s truly idiot-proof ironing! My partner can’t complain that he doesn’t know what setting to iron his shirt on any more as one setting suits all! It’s truly a dream to use this and so simple.

It’s a fantastic quality iron and much lighter than it looks so your arm doesn’t get too tired during a big pile and it cuts trough creases in half the time than a regular iron and saves having to fill up small regular iron tanks constantly then waiting for it heat up etc. I find it’s better to save up a big pile of laundry to iron as the large water tank takes some time to heat up if you just want to iron a couple of tops, but worth the wait for a big pile, i’d say!

Since using this I can’t imagine ever going back to a regular iron again! With a big family – we have almost daily large loads of ironing and it’s a constant battle getting everything ironed but with this iron I almost look forward to it, the large water tank generates enough steam for a big load without having to re-fill a couple of times throughout.

I couldn’t recommend it more and it isn’t as bulky as it looks and fits nicely into my cupboards and is light enough to not feel cumbersome.

d out for quick jobs. The other thing I love is the way you can use the steam to freshen things like curtains. I really wish I had bought a steam generator years ago

Very good steam generator. Lighter than a lot of others. Does a quick and good job. Also has good size water tank so less time wasted refilling.

When unpacking the iron I was worried that the unit would fit on my trusty ironing board, but it fitted snugly on and sat securely upon it.
I quickly browsed the instructions but I was keen to get started so I plugged it in, filled the (very large) water tank (very easy to remove and fill ) and got underway. With a push of a button I selected the temperature I needed to iron my first item (cotton). The light flashes until the desired temperature is reached, and beeps to tell you it’s ready.

The iron itself is light, due to there being no water tank on the actual iron, which is great for me , having a painful neck and shoulder. It glided nicely over the shirt. Stubborn creases didn’t iron out as easily as I expected and I had to use the steam burst, which is quite loud and spitty, but it did get the crease out.

The lead length is not as long as my old iron, but didn’t prove to be too much of a problem.

It’s quite time consuming getting the whole system unpacked, filled up with water, up and running, which is fine for a big pile of ironing but when you just need to quickly iron one item, I’m afraid to say my trusty basic model came out and made a brief appearance where I ironed said item on the kitchen worktop.

Overall, it has cut my ironing time down, but for stubborn items, eg linen it doesn’t match the power of my simpler model. It’s missing a squirt / spray function which I found very useful on my old iron for stubborn creases. So overall good for the massive family ironing pile- but a little disappointed that it couldn’t quite manage linen creases quite as well as I would like. I have deducted one star on this basis- but if you are looking for purchase this type of iron then it is a fair price.

The Morphy Richards Power Steam Generator Iron 333300 with Intellitemp Steam Generator No Burns Guaranteed 2600w is a fantastic iron.

Very easy to set up – the Intellitemp setting was new to me – I used this setting and trusted it through a full weeks ironing – it powered through with ease.

The tank is a good size – one tank did a good amount of ironing – it is easy to refill which can be a flaff with other irons.

The whole unit is compact which means it doesn’t take up a lot of room when not is use.

The actual iron is lightweight but packs a mighty punch with the amount of steam generated.

    This iron is highly recommended.

Overall this Morphy Richards power steam compact steam generator works well and generally removes creases quite easily. Time from switch on to useful steam is quite quick and the 1.5 tank means you can get a lot of ironing done between refills. I don’t think many people would be displeased with their purchase.

Unlike some other steam generator irons that have a cleaning mode this Morphy Richards power steam compact steam generator needs replaceable filters/cartridges. The replacement frequency depends on the hardness of your local water. Not a big expense.

However, there are a couple of small issues. The least of these is the Intellitemp which is one setting for all fabrics. For most fabrics this did work well but for the fabrics where a higher setting would possibly be selected, eg cotton, setting the temperature manually gave marginally better results in that the creases did come out a bit quicker/easier.

The second was that the iron does not stand on its heel which I found slightly annoying. My long term habit of standing irons on their heels means I just did it without thinking resulting in this Morphy Richards steam generator toppling over.

It takes a while to heat up but once ready the steam on tap makes very light work of any heavily creased clothes you might have. You can also do vertical steaming of curtains or jackets on a hanger etc. The water container is huge, the iron itself really light and the build quality very good.

The auto temp feature basically sets the temperature to a low/medium one which will not damage any type of material. Although the steam makes light work of creases at any temp it is even better to manually select the correct temperature for even quicker ironing. Recommended.

I have used steam irons for many years, including Morphy Richards, but this is a first for a steam generator. These comments are therefore, to some extent, a comparison to my existing steam iron as well as a review of the product itself. The instructions accompanying the appliance were straightforward and mostly common sense.

Generally, the appliance was easy to use, with, for me, a nice weight, a good grip and well balanced. The glide of the iron was good, although not as smooth as our old steam iron, and the water tank was easy to detach, fill and reposition. The water capacity was also impressive, with one fill being more than sufficient for that day’s ironing, whereas our old steam iron would have necessitated several top-ups. I cannot comment on the effectiveness of the ‘IntelliTemp’ setting as I went straight for temperature selection given the bulkier items were quite crumpled and necessitated the steam boost capability, which was particularly impressive. That said, a word of warning for once activated the steam boost continues until deactivated — irrespective of the iron’s position; a potential risk around young children and for a steamed up room. The steam generator/base unit was too big to sit safely on the ironing board’s rest plate and was hence positioned by necessity on a work top immediately to the right of the rest plate (unusually and unlike most people I suspect, I use the ironing board flat on a work surface for a comfortable ironing height). In this configuration the length of the combined flex/steam tube (significantly shorter than my steam iron) made manoeuvrability slightly difficult at the sharp end of the board, but not insurmountable. The length of the mains cable was also shorter than I would have liked and necessitated the use of an extension lead and storage when not in use is also another consideration, as this appliance is significantly bulkier than a standard steam iron.

The above said and notwithstanding my small criticisms, I believe the results achieved with this power steam iron were probably better than with my old steam iron and it performed its principal task — to de-crease items – very well and accordingly rates 4*.

I have to do a lot of ironing (b&b) and this is going to make my life so much easier.

It’s light and easy to use. No problem setting it up. Plus I love the colour.

It’s a fantastic iron, does a great job.

This iron is very good for a steam generator iron and is relatively light weight compared to my previous steam generator iron.

You will require a place to put it whilst you iron, unless you have an ironing board that holds a steam generator iron (which I have). There are some good ones available that will hold these irons, but they are pricey.

The iron has intelligent temperature, which means it can be used on the one setting to iron most fabrics without burning them, but also has adjustable settings if you want to specifically follow your garment guides. But the intelligent temperature will adequately iron most things, so you don’t have to mess around with settings and can just get on with the job.

The cable is long enough to reach a floor socket if necessary, so you can iron wherever you feel most comfortable.

The steam generator is fairly quiet and delivers a steady stream of steam as you iron, but you can give a steam boost if you have a stubborn crease, or want to create a firm crease or pleat.

The water container will hold 1.5 litres of water, so you can get a good full load of ironing done in one fill.

This makes really light work of a mundane job.

This is not the cheapest iron on the market, so I’d imagine it’s aimed at those who do more than just iron the odd shirt. We run our own self-catering tourism business, so we have lots of sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases to iron on a regular basis. This really does the job – removing creases much more quickly and with less elbow-grease than cheaper steam irons.

The iron delivers steam constantly unless you turn the feature off (on the lowest temperature setting) but it does so gently without the usual visible and audible belching and hissing, making it less likely that you’ll accidentally scald yourself! The added “steam boost” feature is a boon for difficult-to-iron linens, though, and can also be used vertically for getting creases out of things like curtains while in situ. Make sure you remember to click it off before setting the iron down, or steam does continue to belch out, wasting water.

The iron’s base unit has a large-capacity water tank so you won’t run out of steam every five minutes, and the colour of the reservoir doesn’t obscure the water level.

Best feature is the Intellitemp setting which means you don’t have to keep on changing the heat or steam settings – you can just breeze through the whole basket of ironable fabrics without waiting to the iron to heat up or cool down. Not sure how this works, but it seems to! There are several manual override settings, though, including a non-steam cool iron.

Setting the iron up for the first time is a bit fiddly as the iron has an anti-scale cartridge which has to be soaked in water for five minutes before fitting. Make sure you push it fully home – I didn’t at first and wondered why the iron wouldn’t function properly! This cartridge will need to be changed eventually , and new ones are available on Amazon for 14.99, though obviously I don;t know how long each one lasts yet!

Thoroughly pleased with this iron which makes a boring job both quicker and easier.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve been lucky enough to test various similar irons in recent years and I’m happy to report that this could be the best yet. Firstly the whole set up is light with the iron itself particularly light to handle. The intellitemp setting saves the segregation of items and avoids mistakes. One can boost the temperature for one off special tasks. The tank is big enough to facilitate large loads of ironing without a refill and top ups can be done on the spot. It releases a quiet regular flow of steam, but again this can be manually boosted. All these factors reduce ironing time by about half, but does the Morphy Richards 3333000 do a good job? A big YES. It does an excellent quiet efficient job even in in the hands of an old guy like me.
Another useful aspect is using it as a hand held steamer for say a jacket on a hanger. I’ve tried it and again it works.
A very small criticism of this and similar steam generator units is that for a quick one item ironing it takes a little time to reach its ready to use state ( the watched kettle never boils syndrome) , but that is a very small negative point and again like other such devices it takes up a bit of space so if it won’t sit on a work surface think about where you will store it.
The cost of this Morphy Richards unit is way above the cost of a conventional steam iron , but is an altogether different concept and as a time saver worth every penny.

The Morphy Richards Power Steam Generator Iron 333300 with Intellitemp Steam Generator No Burns Guaranteed 2600w arrives in a well protected box and the item arrived safely in a medium size box. It struck me as being slightly smaller than the more expensive steam generators. The quality and overall design will not match the more expensive ones. You get what you pay for. I do note this is a perfectly good serviceable functional steam generator which in practise provides good results at this price level. Ensure to use de-ionised water purchased from supermarket or similar, don’t use water out of the tap, this will prevent built of lime scale and is worth paying out de-ioned water. The safety feature where the iron turns off if left alone is a good addition, but not necessarily something i would do purposely and leave it unattended to see if that actually works. The included instructions are a mix of pictorial and words, which I thought was pretty good and reading this will provide a quick summary or what this iron can do.

In practical terms the iron is feature rich and worth the extra modest outlay in money if considering this iron and for what you will get as compared to a standard iron that does not have a heat generator. The iron does reduce the chore and workload when compared to straight flat iron. Worth considering if on a budget and in practical terms this is a very good buy and the introduction to the steam iron generator world.

I’ve not used a steam generator iron before and I’ve wondered whether they were worth the not inconsiderable price premium when compared with my ordinary steam iron. After using this iron I’m in no doubt – it outperforms my old iron in just about every way.

For a start there’s more steam and the tank holds enough water for a long ironing session. If it does run out it can be refilled in situ. The steam doesn’t come in bursts the way it tends to in a traditional steam iron – it’s constantly pumped. I found the so-called IntelliTemp setting to work well for ironing shirts and pillowcases, although higher fixed temperatures are available. The sole-plate is shallow enough to make ironing around buttons easy.

    Just a few observations:

    – The whole unit, although compact, is too large to rest safely on the iron rest of an older ironing board that was designed for traditional irons
    – I tried it for steaming curtains as the handbook suggests, but it’s too unwieldy to do a good job. Better to get a purpose-built steamer.
    – It uses replaceable descaler cartridges for use in hard water areas. You’ll need to factor in the cost of these, or alternatively use distilled water. I was unable to find compatible deionised water in my local supermarket – not even fragrance-free ironing water is usable because of the chemicals it contains.

These are niggles. The iron does a brilliant job and is easily worth five stars.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI must admit, when I got this, I was cynical about the whole intellitemp thing. First of all though, the item was very well packed, which I liked. The iron was quick and easy to set up, once the cartridge had been soaked. I thought that the ceramic plate was a good idea too. Anyway, I filled the tank, much easier than most of these products as its a little smaller. The iron quickly cut through about a weeks worth of ironing, handling delicate items and harder to iron things like denims, with ease. My cynicism quickly disappeared. My husband also found it easier to use, normally he puts the iron on high and sometimes, things have got scorched! But with this, no problem! I’ve only used this once, for a big load of ironing, but was very pleased with it. Hubby did a couple of things straight off the line before I’d put the iron away, too. So far, so good!

  25. OlgaHeflin says:

I have always admired the idea of this type of iron, but always worried about the size of the product, so I was glad to try this. The base has a mains cable of just over 6 feet (about 2 metres) and the hand unit (the iron itself) has a really strong and flexible cable on it of 4’6″ (just over 1.4m).
The iron itself is lightweight and feels easy in the hand and has a fantastic non-stick base that just slides over your ironing.
Firstly, you load the tank with water, which is removable from the body of the iron and has a fold out spout; you can load this with 1.5 litres of water. When you turn this on it defaults to “intelli-sense” which is the greatest USP of this iron — basically it senses the amount of heat that is appropriate for the material you are ironing and adjusts accordingly. Whereas you can set the heat to three other manual levels, the idea of an automatic setting appeals to me and it says on the packaging that it guarantees not to burn your clothes!
As for the steam, I think we all want a good steam iron, but the thing that always puts me off are those sudden rushes of steam and the hissing and the heat of that steam. Once again this is a strong point of the iron — the constant flow of steam is silent and unnoticeable, only when you manually send a number of bursts does it seem like a normal steam iron. So, this iron really gets the creases out! Tonight I ironed four shirts that were dried a week ago, and would normally have been hard to iron (I normally iron them when they come in off the line) — they came out JUST AS GOOD AS IF THEY HAD COME STRAIGHT OFF THE LINE!
The only thing that I could say about this iron that isn’t absolutely excellent is that it takes a long time to cool down before you put it away, but that is a very small issue to struggle with.
Basically, this iron is delightfully simple to use and yet delivers control and creaseless results to massive amounts of ironing. I ended up pouring well over half of the water out of the tank and I ironed 9 men’s shirts, 7 tee shirts, PJ’s, nighties, handkerchiefs and a whole miscellany of stuff — so you can go a long way on one fill.
This is a great product and I would recommend it unequivocally.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBeing a lover of new technology , I am especially pleased when something comes along that makes my life easier.

The Morphy Richards Power Steam Generator Iron 333300 is just such a device. Yes it gives great results, yes it is easy to use (once you get past soaking the antiscale cartridge ) but hell yes , you don’t have to sort all your clothes out by fabric / temperature before you start ironing! This saves time and eliminates hassle.

Why? Because the Intellitemp Steam Generator sets everything to a temperature which won’t burn or ruin anything but still gets the job done – if you want to go hotter after that just turn it up a notch- but I was finding that for the vast majority of my clothes , I really didn’t have to.

Other things I liked were the design – light and colourful with a ceramic soleplate- the capacity to do vertical steam ironing (not when you are wearing the clothes – ouch !) , an auto-shut off for safety, and the digital display. Oh yes and the price.

This is currently retailing at less than 100 on Amazon when steam generators typically go for much much more. This is all good especially when you consider you are getting a brand leader in Morphy Richards and a 2 year guarantee.

This comes with instructions. My instruction is ‘grab it while it’s hot!’ (not literally).

This is quite an impressive looking iron with the steam generator.

The steam generator is about average size, to be honest I was unsure where to put it safely on my ironing board. There is a lead from the iron to the steam generator which is a solid looking. The iron seemed quite small compared to other irons that I have used.

Usage and set up are extremely easy, and the iron has a handy IntelliTemp so it cannot go over its own temperature, or you can easily adjust it to suit your needs. It can also be used to steam clothing.

I thought that this is a very good iron and seems to adapt to a lot of needs, probably best for someone who does a lot of ironing. As for me, who tries to do as little as possible, I think I will stick with my basic iron without the extra steam generator.

Again, an excellent iron, well made, extremely easy to use, very handy for the busy ironer.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWriting as a male who does his own ironing with a distinct lack of skill, I find this about twice as quick as my old regular iron. Ironing isn’t a fun way of spending an evening and I am not good enough to watch TV at the same time (which my girlfriend does), so halving the time is for me a fantastic bargain and easily worth the higher price.

It is worth understanding the “intellitemp” setting. It isn’t actually intelligent at all, it just sets a low temperature which won’t damage the most delicate fabrics and compensates by means of the huge amounts of steam it delivers. This works fine but it works even better if you apply a little bit of human intelligence to turning the knob to the button for the correct fabric.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI have been lucky enough to be given the Morphy Richards Steam Generator with Intelllitemp to test out. My first impression on removing it from the box is how light the whole Steam Generator is. The colour of the appliance is a fresh aqua which is very pleasing and will look good in my kitchen.

It took no time at all to set it up as the instructions are easy to folow and the controls are intuitive. Before the first use, the antiscale cartridge needs to be taken out and soaked for 5 minutes before inserting it back in.

I have tested (and purchased) a few steam generators now and each one has different characteristics. This one has Intellitemp which means that you can switch on the appliance and it will automatically go to the Intellitemp setting on the control panel which will allow the appliance to iron all ironable fabrics without the temperature needing to be adjusted!

If you want to control the heat settings further, the control panel has a Select Button which responds to touch when choosing the required setting. The symbols are dots which replicate the ironong instruction dots on your garment washing label. There is a steam trigger where your hand grips the iron.

Another good feature is that you can do a vertical steam and quickly steam clothes whilst they are on a hanger or freshen up curtains. Should the appliance be left on, it will automatically turn itself off after 10 minutes. The appliance has a self clean function which removes scale and minerals which have built up in the steam chamber which is great as I live in a hard water area.

All in all, the Morphy Richards Power Steam Generator with Intellitemp is extremely light, easy to use, very quiet, does a great iron and comes with a two year guarantee when registered.
